Stop scrolling you’ve found the right place. Don’t venture to Clarksdale and pass up The Bad Apple. This is exactly what we were looking for on our quest to find authentic Blues. The atmosphere (while quaint) provided a haunting and deep rooted experience. Sean and his felines offered gracious hospitality and unrivaled storytelling. I would give 6 stars for his musicality alone. Bad Apple equals Good Times.
Wed only been in Clarksdale for a few hours when some newly-made friends walked us over to the Bad Apples Blues Club. It was midday, on a hot n muggy delta summer day. Theres no better respite from the day heat than Sean Apples matinee blues review from 3pm-6pm. Sean is a one-man-band-host-bar tender-whatever else showman of the highest caliber. His narration tells an incredible story, with his guitar and percussion giving authentic personifications of Clarksdales blues legends. Throughout the showcase, he keeps the audience engaged with lots of interactive banter, laughs. We felt right at home and loved every minute of it. I cant wait to share this place with friends. One thing- its cash only, with no ATM on site, so come prepared. The show is a great value at $10. Cold beer is $5 a can. If you sleep on this, youll rob yourself of a wonderful, one of a kind Clarksdale experience.
Had a fantastic time at Bad Apple Blues Club! This place is the real deal! We enjoyed some blues while getting some blues history, mixed with some very entertaining stories! Sean “Bad” Apple is DOIN’ IT, doin’ it! Please, people, support live music, & great authentic establishments like this! Folks like Sean sacrifice to live for and bring us this, not only music, but an experience! ✌🏼❤️💙
Been coming here since its grand opening, and many re-openings during the pandemic. Met him playing on Beale Street a few years prior.Sean is everything beautiful about the blues. A true one man act: guitar, drums, singing, and some incredible stories and knowledge about the history of the music and the people that played it. Hes also the bartender, bouncer, and just about everything else.Despite harassing him regularly for years while we lived down there (moved back to northern MI now), he always got new stories and songs. And friends are always popping by (shown). My wife and I loved it so much, rumor is we even tied the knot there. But thats, just like my opinion
On a cold Wednesday night in January we came here after we saw a flyer a blue cotton bake shop we needed to check bad apples blues club out. And we are so happy that we did! It was a very special hart touching night with a lot of live music and history about Clarksdale and the Blues. We got lucky with various artist coming in and playing very beautiful music with warm performances. My aunt and i are both touched by the place, the people, the music, the cute cat that stayed with us all night, it was a night to never forget. The owner Sean will make a great night for you even if you’re just with 4 people inside. We met some truly amazing artists and people. I am gonna miss the little girl Josephine who performed with her amazing brother and dad. She cuddled with me and the cat all night and told me amazing stories. If you are in Clarksdale, this is a must go!
Absolutely Amazing Experience! This is why we came to Clarksdale - authentic blues and history! Well we found the experience of a lifetime right here with Sean Bad Apple !We rolled into Clarksdale on a Thursday excited about the museum and Ground Zero and Cat Head of course , but we found Soo much more to be excited about - we saw his sign for live music from 3-6 outside of his location next door to Cathead - Bad Apple Blues and Arts Center , and decided to stop and let me tell you, it was the best decision..Sean is a one man band, historian, story teller , comedian and one hell of a blues musician . We learned, we laughed and left wanting more !We now have a new appreciation for the blues , for the great men and women of blues , we shall go home and listen to our blues albums with a new understanding of the styles and sounds .Go to Clarksdale, go to either of Bad Apples locations - you will not regret it - This is priceless!Thank you Sean, we cant wait to come back!A MUST DO IN CLARKSDALE - BEST OF THE BEST !!This blew away our experience at Ground Zero - Bad Apple is authentic and a blues lovers dream!
Sean Apple owner of the Bad Apple Blues Club, put on a great show filled with great music and personal accounts of playing beside some of Clarksdales most famous Blues acts. Not many in attendance for a 3:00 PM show on a Wednesday. Having Sean serve beer in between songs at first seemed odd, but it is a perfect example of an artist doing whatever it takes to realize a dream.
Great story teller and talented musician. Hes not only a one man band, but also a one man proprietor. Its a little distracting when he continually has to stop the show to welcome new arrivals, collect the $10 cover and offer them $5 beer, then back to the show. He definitely needs a helper so that he can do what he does best! Overall, definitely worth the trip!
This is THE PLACE. Simply Truly Unique. Sean will guide you through Blues history and let you feel the vibes, while is playing and serving you beer. Thanks a lot.
Dont be nervous and open the door! As tourists we werent sure about going in, but Sean is so welcoming, funny and informative about blues music, we had a great afternoon in a small friendly gathering of people just out to enjoy the experience.
Bad Apple Blues Club is absolutely incredible! Even though it’s a newer club, it maintains the atmosphere of a classic juke joint. This has rapidly become one of my favorite spots in Clarksdale.
BE SURE THE BAD APPLE BLUES CLUB IS ONE OF THE FIRST PLACES YOU GO WHEN YOU VISIT CLARKSDALE... !!!!!!!Owner, Sean Apple, is a gifted storyteller, musician, entertainer, educator, and a most gracious host. During his three-hour show he demonstrates various styles of music from the delta, talks about important blues men and women from the area, tells a few jokes, has fun with the audience, and will personally serve you a chilly beer or glass of wine to enjoy during the show. The modern day juke joint Sean has created sets the authentic mood and vibe you came to the delta hoping to find. Our time at the Bad Apple Blues Club was filled with music and a ton of fun. The music was fantastic, the show entertaining, and Sean Apple is a delight. We had a great time!! Do yourself a favor and don’t miss one of the best experiences in town at the Bad Apple Blues Club!!
This was exactly the experience my husband and I were looking for in Clarksdale! We are not musicians, but were looking to expand our understanding of the Blues and its roots. “Bad Apple” Sean played different types of Blues pieces along and gave explanations of their background and differences. Enjoyment plus education! Plus we were fortunate to hear some soulful pieces from Lucius Spiller, a consummate Blues musician, who happened to show up. An altogether fun and enjoyable afternoon.
Shaun Apple is great! The place looks like a dive but give it a chance. Shaun is a historian on blues music. It’s a small venue and he tells the patrons about the aspects of old blues genres. Plus he’s a wonderful player. Just a great place. Good job Bad Apple!!
This is one of the most unique experiences in Clarksdale! Sean Apple is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. His 3 hour show is close and personal. History of blues guitar styles, the Clarksdale area and the evolution of the blues from the original delta blues. The atmosphere of his juke joint takes you back in time and leaves the world outside for a few hours. Fantastic!!!
Sean gives a pleasant history of blues styles. He is very talented.Beer available
Incredible! Really worth a visit! Plays incredible music and shares some really interesting stories and notes around the history of blues music in Clarksdale. Highly recommend going to watch him play! True talent and kind soul.
So thankful we happened upon this sparkling gem of an establishment while in Clarksdale..Sean and Ann are great people. He is an extraordinary talent, and puts on a fantastic show that blends the true blues with Delta music history and appreciation with witty repartee. Sean plays his heart out, and his love for what he does (and where he does it) clearly shines through. We were so stoked by this club that we went back the next day for more. Other local artists are also featured from time to time. My whole family felt very honored to meet this warm and colorful man.
We walked into Bad Apple and immediately knew this was going to be a wonderful experience. Sean Apple creates a friendly almost family atmosphere while giving detailed history of blues and the musicians. The music was great! Everyone relaxed and laughed. Great place to renew your soul!
Dont miss Bad Apple Blues Club - its like stepping into a whole different dimension of real blues and ramshackle decoration.Sean is an extremely friendly, personable, and hospitable guy. He also happens to be a great blues player with a lot of charisma and a good sense of humor. This place is a hole-in-the-wall and intentionally so. Soak it up and enjoy the experience!
This is a one-of-a-kind club thats keeping the blues alive and thriving in Mississippi. Cant recommend it enough. We visited on a slow Wednesday afternoon, but were nevertheless treated to a passionate and soulful performance. The proprietor and one-man-band performer, the Bad Apple, is simply a talented musician with a love for the history and culture of the blues.Do not miss it if youre in Clarksdale.
Looks a little sketchy from the outside but take a chance and you wont regret it hours are 3to6 but Sean is an amazing talented person check out YouTube an put in Sean Apple blues musician he was great sings plays guitar drums an symbols all at the same time an has tons of stories to tell ya thanks for a great time
Unexpectedly amazing experience. We visited Bad Apple and we were a bit hesitant at first when we saw the front of the club. But soon before the show started, Sean opened the door, came out and invited us in. He was so friendly and guaranteed we would enjoy our time. He offered some beers and put on an incredible show for 3 hours. He even invited a friend of his, a wonderful guitar player from Mississippi, who played a few songs for us.The show itself is a journey through blues history, since the earliest days in the cotton fields to the Chicago-style blues. And Sean plays it all: guitar, harmonica, drums. He sings as well. And he does everything at once, he’s a great musician.I highly encourage everyone in Clarksdale visit Bad Apple Blues Club. Besides, the schedule makes it perfect to catch the show from 3pm to 6pm and visit Ground Zero o Red’s later at night.
This is my second visit to Clarksdale Mississippi and specifically to come and see Sean at the Bad Apple blues club. There we get a unique oral history as only Sean can tell it. You truly do feel like you stepped back in time walking into his club. I challenge you not to be moved before the close of the show.
The Bad Apple Blues Club should be on the itinerary of every visitor to Clarksdale, particularly those with a rudimentary knowledge of the blues, like my wife and I. Sean weaves an oral history of the blues and Clarksdales significance with songs from the key players. He is the ultimate one man band, collecting the reasonable cover charge and serving beers. We had a fascinating four hours in Seans pride and joy. Definitely worth an afternoon of your time. Thanks Sean! Chris and Lara, Christchurch, New Zealand
This is literally the best $10 cover you’ll spend in the country!! An amazing experience and the blues history is the icing on the cake. DO NOT pass up this Clarksdale Blues experience!! Do. Not. 💙🎸
Such a cool show and an amazing artist. Sean, the owner and performer, was very personable and shared great stories between songs. He has a gift of getting the crowd involved, even letting my son join him on the tambourine. If you are looking for an experience thats laid back, funny, informative and beautiful all wrapped up in blueslike atmospheric package, this is it.
Loved the Bad Apple. Sean was a perfect host and talented musician. We learned so much about the history of the blues in two hours. It was fun and comfortable and is highly recommended. It was probably one of our best stops in Clarksdale.

I had so much fun there. I danced and played tambourine. They were so awesome friendly and the music was the best. Wish I lived closer because I would go there more often. We chanced upon this place and how to make it back again

Sean was really great. Playing different blues songs explaining the history of each. Also spoke to the guitars they used. Was an absolute blast. Very interactive and is must go...

This place is wonderful
The place is spectacular. Sean is a genuine guy, super friendly, he has a lot of talent, a place that when I went the first time was closed and he invited me to come in to meet him, the next day I went and without words. A place not to be missed if you pass through Clarksdale. Super recommended, the hours are from 3 to 6 (15 to 18)The place is spectacular. Sean Bad Apple, the owner, is a really nice guy and good blues guitarist. But the place, thats all it really is, is stuffy and it stinks. You dont necessarily have to listen to the blues.
Sean is a simply great guy, he did the concert just for us even though no one else was there or came... It was great, he put all his effort into communicating with us, since our English is very bad
Complete course on Delta blues taught by Sean Bad apple
