I just returned from another great trip down to Clarksdale, Mississippi, on a hosted bus tour organized by Salem Travel in Salem, IL.We spent our first night in Clarksdale at the Stovall Store. The Stovall Store is on the historic Stovall Farm where Muddy Waters lived and grew up. Baylor and Howard Stovall are the proprietors and extraordinary hosts who went above and beyond to make sure we had the best time ever.We enjoyed a catered gourmet crawfish boil that also included super tasty shrimp and grits and amazing bread pudding for dessert. It was delicious and nobody walked away hungry! The Stovall Store staff was friendly and provided outstanding service all night long. Everyone was having a great time. I could have gone back to our hotel at this point and been as happy as a boll weevil in cotton. Little did I know the good times were just getting started and the fun meter was about to get pegged at the Stovall Store. After our dinner settled, the Stovall Store house band, The Stone Gas Band, came in and took it to another level! The band started out slow and mellow, shifted gears and got everyone on their feet. Mz Ann sang several songs for us and had everyone up and moving to the blues. Guitarist Big T Williams brought the show out to the crowd by playing at our tables. It was some of the best delta blues music you can hear, played by virtuoso blues musicians. If you ever get the chance to hear the Stone Gas Band, dont miss it. Its even better if you get to listen to them in their favorite venue, the Stovall Store! At the end of the evening, we had great food, amazing delta blues music played by a fantastic band, more fun than we ever dreamed of having, and the most gracious Mississippi delta hospitality you could ever hope to experience.Baylor and Howard set the bar way up high for the rest of Clarksdale!! I had a fantastic time and I cant wait to get back to the Stovall Store.
Go see the Stone Gas Band play here (or anyone)! Very kind owners and staff, as well as a groovin venue!
What a vibe! Live music, nice people and good drinks. What else do you need? Love this place
