05/16/2024 - First time visiting The Bluestone for a celebratory event hosted by a YMCA branch. TB is over 100 years old. The exterior looks like a castle, and the interior mansion style time capsule of previous events that have taken place at The Bluestone. The main area is an open space with bar style banisters, there is a stage and the main floor area is wood. There are areas that are carpeted. There is a second floor that serves as a multipurpose area specifically as a balcony overseeing the main area. There are functional bars on both floors. There are massive mosaic glasses that are functional as decor. From concerts to weddings, The Bluestone is a venue that welcomes all genres of entertainment. Nearby parking and a parking lot walking distance to TB. Entry contingent on the occasion.
Went to see Matt Maeson on 4/5/24. He sounded amazing but the venue was possibly better or simply enhanced the experience. Great sound and awesome staff! It was possibly the best show Ive ever been too. Parking was simple, $10 cash, and hardly a block walk. Traffic after leaving the show honestly a breeze. Wonderful experience will definitely watch more music at the Bluestone.
This is such a great concert venue! It looks like it’s a repurposed church. It’s in a part of town that’s easy to get to and has parking readily available. It’s also just big enough for a great concert experience where no one has a bad seat in the house, the acoustics are great, and it feels like a unique spot. I love it and hope more artists I like come through here.
This is a great Venue, plenty of parking around it and easy to find. The inside is just phenomenal. I like how the balcony has two different layers. It wasnt a bad place on the floor to see the show. The sound was really good and it was Nice to see a band from Columbus open for Bad Religion. The backdrop for the band being the church bells was phenomenal and they did it. Excellent job lighting it up to show its beauty. I will definitely come back here for a show whenever I get the chance.
First time at this event. They had convenient parking behind the venue. Inside was really nice, multiple bars, so getting drinks was quick and easy. Nice bathrooms, and the view to the stage is good from anywhere. If you like to sit, get their really early. They have raised seeting on the first floor by the bar with an amazing line of sight.
This place is awesome! I am assuming an old church by the look of things. They have a parking lot that you can pay to park. There is also street parking around the area. They have two bars within the venue. The bathrooms are located upstairs. For this show the merch table was right when you walked in. So very close to the stage. The venue is smaller and the views are good from areas in my opinion. The band I saw here was The Starting Line! Id definitely come back for another show!
This is the nicest concert venue I think Ive ever been to! Very classy very new and very clean and it only holds a thousand people so you pretty much have a great view from any point. You can even fit larger Vehicles like our motor coach on the street directly behind the venue, just not in their parking area. This is a beautiful renovated church with stained glass windows intact! Breathtaking.
Great venue, saw the Wallflowers here. Parking was about ten bucks for the concert. Indoor there is an upstairs and downstairs for standing during concert. Awesome old school church vibe with updated inside for a concert venue. They serve alcohol kind of on the pricier side honestly. Pizza was available. But overall would revisit.
Gorgeous old looking church thats been changed into A venue hall. Saw the Red Clay Strays there and it was A packed place but easy to get around with how many people were inside. It was abit hot at first with all the people inside on A hot day, however the air circulation kept things to A point where it was cool and an enjoyable experience.
Saw some really great bands here on my first visit (lylvc, fame on fire and pop evil) but I was blown away by the venue. Incredibly well re-purposed former church, an abundance of fully stocked bars, and a lot of space. Acoustics were about average for an inside concert venue, but its the architecture for me, a must visit place if your favorite band is playing.
We attended the Prince Experience here May 11th and while the concert was great, my experience as a disabled patron was terrible. First they have no handicap entrance and security refused to let Multiple elderly and disabled people in the event once doors opened even though we had been waiting. In addition to that handicap seating was limited to 2 6ft tables with some chairs. Which is more disappointing because the venue didnt take handicap ticket reservations. What if all the available seating was taken when we arrived? To add to the bad experience the handicap tables were located behind a glass where the view had standing patrons and reflections. The sound was extremely muted behind the glass where we sat like prisoners. The sound was worse because the tables were placed in front of the bar where clinging glass and bar customers were very loud. Bar customers continuously took chairs reserved for the disabled and there was nothing we could do about it. Ive been to events here before where there was no glass and my experience was better but I will not attend here again without better accommodations. It was unfair to those who need those accommodations. One family with a wheelchair member was forced to stand where they couldnt see because he couldnt hear and then a drunk couple took their seats.
I have been to two separate shows at The Bluestone one pre-pandemic and one post. Both shows have hands down been my least favorite concert experiences ever…and I’d consider myself avid concert goer who has been to a ton of different venues.First off, there needs to be signage or something on your website stating a $10 cash only parking fee. I didn’t even see a sign stating this when pulling into the venue. And the first concert I attended here did not have a parking fee at all. Luckily I had emergency cash on me or I’d have been SOL.Second, you should probably figure out your air system because it seems like only one tiny spot in the venue actually had air conditioning. I understand it’s an old building, but you’re asking for medical emergencies with how hot that place gets. I even fainted during an opener at the first show I attended there because of how hot it was and ended up leaving, missing the artist I came to see.Third, as other reviewers have mentioned, the acoustics are all over the place depending on where you stand. I go to a lot of concerts so I have a habit of bringing ear plugs, but if you’re looking center stage, get ready to have your ear drums blown out.Lastly, if the show you’re seeing is an even remotely popular band, expect to feel like the venue is over capacity and to have no good view of the band unless you’re tall or arrive extra early to get to the front.I hate to leave a review like this for what could be a really cool venue that isn’t one of the big name ones in Columbus, but it needs some serious work. I get so disappointed when I see my favorite artists are having a show here and typically opt not to go or go to a different tour stop.I walked around the entire venue to try to see even a sliver of the band and the only place I could see them was in what I presume was formerly the baby crying room back when it was a church…but do the math…the sound is terrible behind that glass. Pictured are a few positions throughout the upstairs and I was holding my phone all the way up in the air just to see if it could even see the band.
Our wedding date was planned for 7/11/20; then, COVID delayed our plans. Even before that time, our event coordinator, Kayla, was helpful and patient when we went through our first planning steps. Once vaccines became readily available, we started the planning process again with Kayla. Throughout our experience, all of the staff we interacted with at The Bluestone were professional, making the experience seamless. The venue was once a Baptist church, with lends to its character. Wood floors in the main room made a perfect dance floor with the light through the stained glass windows during golden hour, adding to the ambiance of our event. The Bluestone is a one-stop venue. The food was fantastic, the bar fully stocked, and the staff, I cannot convey how great the staff was. The price point was also perfect for what we were looking for.If you are looking for a stellar venue that you and your guests would enjoy for any event, look no further than The Bluestone.
I love coming here for the concerts! The bar had many selections compared to other venues. Some say the venue echos, but I think it adds to the beautiful sound throughout the church when raving!
Went to see Bowling for soup, with Flying High and Eternal Boy as the openers. Epic concert with a great atmosphere and a great space that can handle the crowd size without feeling too hectic. Will be back for future events!
Great concert venue in a beautiful old church building. Seeing shows here feels very intimate because the audience is wide across the stage but the room isn’t deep. Even in the back corner you aren’t really far from the action!
06/18/2024 - Saw my first show at the Bluestone. Adding my two cents to Google reviews as I had scoured them prior to attending, and figured I would return the favor. The show was Band of Horses. The position was right-center in the balcony level. As is the theme, the acoustics of the venue took much of the attention. From an amateur perspective, they werent awful. But it was definitely louder than any show I can recall, and I dont think that is a result of brain damage via the ears (though Im not ruling it out). Primarily the lead vocals were blaring, though when all instruments joined in at once there was a lot to take in. No chance we would understand any of the transitional banter from the band, but the music was mostly intelligible.Aside from the noise our experience was fairly headache-free. Though we snuck in through the back alley, unintentionally bypassing the parking attendant, we still paid $10 cash in exchange for a parking voucher directly behind the venue. Plenty of parking upon arrival on the early side, about ten minutes prior to doors. This timeliness enabled a seamless entry and a great view in the aforementioned second-level balcony.Drinks were pricey as expected, but rather than the standard exclusively Anheuser-Busch options at the more popular venues in Columbus, there was more variety, including local-staple IPA from Columbus Brewing Company. The crowd was incredibly tame, and we didnt struggle for space. Much to our delight on a 95-degree day, the building was comfortably air-conditioned, rendering the heat a non-factor.Should I return to the Bluestone for a show, it will undoubtedly be for a must-see artist. I wont let the acoustics or the less-than-inviting surrounding area deter me from one of my favorite bands. However, I wont necessarily be clamoring to return - at least not without ear plugs. 4 Stars.
Excellent venue for a concert, incredible acoustics and sound. Some more seating options would be nice. Saw The Red Clay Strays, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
The Bluestone is excellent venue. Great sound and venue also excellent staff. Drinks are pricey but free ice water is available and bathroom sinks have elevated faucets to fill cups. Theres extremely limited seating so plan on standing. Also their secure parking is a lot $20 but there are many free spots available in the area. All tickets go through ticket master so that sucks but they have to do it to get the best acts. We saw Thevery Corperation and they were absolutely amazing!!!
Fantastic concert venue, definitely some of the best sound I have ever heard. My first time there was Twiddle in April . Easy to get to Parking, pleasant staff and EASY to get to and find with GPS! Plenty of bars to grab a drink along with plenty of space to dance or relax. Thank you Bluestone for a GREAT time.
Paying for VIP is definitely worth it. You’re not packed like sardines. But even if you are in the lower level (GA) you can still have a good time, but there definitely isn’t enough room to move/dance around unless you’re in the back when you’re at a sold out show. Also if you want a water bottle, be prepared to pay $10. There is free water in the hallway tho!
I have been to so many different concerts in so many cities like CHICAGO AND DETROIT -and I can confidently say this is possibly the worst venue I have ever been. I had a lady splash a vodka Red Bull all over me right after she shoved my girlfriend’s mom. I want to emphasize, that this woman repeatedly was shoving my girlfriend’s mother. reported this to security. Security did their job, and tried to kick out the women who was causing the the issue, but as predicted they screamed at security and security asked US TO WALK OUT TO EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED. The owner, decided that it was best for us to leave for absolutely no reason, besides the fact that we complained that these women put their hands on my girlfriend’s mother and threw their drink on me. DISREGARD ALL BEAUTY OF THE BLUESTONE. The owner doesn’t care about the safety of their customers and they want wants convenient to them. They actually said, we’re not gonna go in the crowd and pick out the issue. If you dont want to deal with an issue, please stop running a business. The last thing Columbus needs is a business owner who does not care about their customer.Security - next time someone and the 10 witnesses saying that we were not the issue, please stick up to the owner.Do better please. My group spent hundreds of dollars to have our group assaulted in so many ways and then get KICKED OUT for saying something about it.
Standing room only. Very hot. Tickets said show would start at 7 but doors opened at 7 and show didn’t start till 8. The first act played for 40 min and then there was 40 more min until the main act went on. That was irritating to stand and wait so long on a Thursday evening. Parking is $10 cash. They don’t take card. Not my favorite venue.
Dont be misled. The time of the event is the time they open the doors, so if you want a good spot, get there early to line up! Overall decent place, drinks are expensive and sound wasnt the greatest but you get what you pay for.
ZERO STARS!! The owner and security are the problem! They don’t care about the safety of their customers. Two middle aged women put their hands on my 70 year old mother and shoved her several times into other patrons aggressively. (Which means there was witnesses to this) When it was reported to security they went to confront the women who assaulted my mother. Those women started yelling at security and refused to leave. So they kicked us out instead and told us the women refused to leave and security/owner didn’t make them leave? Isn’t that their job? 0/10 would recommend supporting this venue. Horrible!! Make it make sense
Awesome intimate venue. No bad spot in the house. Beautiful acoustics and architecture. Fantastic bands performing here.
Worst concert experience of my life! Some people near us decided to curse and throw drinks and repeatedly elbow and push people in our party. Others around us also told security what they had seen and supported our story. Security told us to go to “the other side” so the people would leave us alone. When we pointed out that repeatedly pushing was assault, the owner said we were the problem. They did not care that it was unsafe. They did not care at all. Note: we were a group of three parents with three adult children, not a rowdy group. Security is a joke and the owner doesn’t care about safety.
Loved the venue! However, it got so hot in there that the security staff was throwing cold water bottles out into the crowd and people were leaving because of the heat! Hoping they can get some kind of industrial fans in there or something to help with the heat!
AMAZING Venue! Saw a Mattie and Tae concert here the other day and it was perfect! Theyre were 3 different bars for all your food and drink desires. There were tables for standing/sitting and eating at, an area in front of the stage where you could stand, and a balcony surrounding the stage where you had a perfect view.
Great venue! I was there working an art/fashion/music show. The staff were awesome, and very helpful. I was paying more attention to the venues set-up, and equipment. I noticed that the sound system, and projector was newer considering the historic building (had a situation at another venue where they had an analog board... noticed one of the performers asking the very same thing here, and they were able to accommodate....deja Vu 🤪). These old church buildings carry great sound as well. They dont have, or really need the huge tower speakers. With what they have, you can hear the stage from anywhere in the building... I was working the stage, and it was important to be able to hear the stage when I wasnt backstage, this WAS NOT an issue at all. I could even hear the host from the basement. The flow of the building is great, most of the crowd gathers on the main floor, so its easy to get around, and the fact that theres multiple bars on all of the floors eliminates having to stand at a crowded bar waiving money to get the bartenders attention lol (if youve ever been to a bar/club, you know what I mean).Oh! Most important part, THEY HAVE THEIR OWN PARKING! Thats always a plus for me in downtown areas...it sucks to pay if youre just going there to hang out, but imagine having move equipment, carry stuff in and out, and having to worry about moving out of the unloading zone in a short amount of time...YEAH, a venue having its own parking is more important than you may think. To sum it up, this place is a great place to perform if youre a band, or musician.
AMAZING Location for a wedding. The staff was wonderful, the spaces are amazing, and left us with a night we will never forget. The Bluestone is an old church that has been renovated into a meeting/gathering place. There is huge stain glassed windows that are accented by a huge wood floor a gigantic cathedral ceiling. Then accented by modern art inspired bars and decor. Through the main halls they have a lot of really cool posters from concerts that they have held there in the past. There is a few different rooms in the place they have very small meeting spaces for just a group of 10- or 20 all the way up to a the largest space that could easily accommodate 500 in standing room only. Definitly check out their webiste for good pictures on each of the spaces. The food was wonderful and although they switched cooks half way through our planning they easily accommodated another tasting. Everyone knows in event planning things change, but the difference is in how people deal with it. And the staff did wonderfully in accommodating all of our needs/wants.With all this said The place is not cheap to rent, but for everything offered it was fairly priced.
Really disappointing. Came to see Collective Soul. Waited an hour to get in. Then listened to warm up band that was too loud for venue. Staff were surly. I have not waited this long to see the Stones, the Who, Springsteen, McCartney, and the Grateful Dead. What is with this place?
Pay $10 for parking which I didnt know anything about. If you come here, park across the street for free. Waited 45 minutes in line. After the time the concert was supposed to start to get in. Theres no seats so prepares to stand up for the whole venue. I emailed them 2 weeks ago and they never answering my email. If I have to bring chairs, etc first and last time here
This place is amazing. I highly recommend VIP so you can be on the balcony and see everything. Make sure to bring ear plugs. The building is beautiful and the staff are amazing.
ADA needs serious work.My friend and I were here on Sunday 3/2 for the Beaches and Beach Weather. When we arrived, we asked the girl who scanned our tickets where the ADA section was. She was clueless, just shrugged her shoulders and said she didnt know. We asked another woman who was scanning tickets and she told us it was to the side of the stage, behind glass. When we got there, sure enough...ADA was a section of tables and chairs behind a wall of glass. There was a ramp that lead to the crowd in front of the glass that people stood on to watch the show, ultimately also blocking the view of anyone who was sitting in the ADA section.Nobody who ends up in ADA seating wants to be in ADA seating--its a necessity, point blank. Its an isolating experience and takes away from being able to immerse yourself in the live music experience. To be put behind a glass wall, just further separating your patrons from the experience they paid good money to experience, is shameful.Do better, Bluestone.
Ive been to the Bluestone twice and really enjoyed the shows. The building is nice for concerts, its an old church. Facilities are nice. Parking was easy, just pay after driving in and you may be directed to a spill over lot. I like it as a venue for concerts. Saw Steel Panther there this last time, fun times as usual. Saw Periphery there years ago and met the band as they hung around inside.
Extremely over sold show. Even with arriving an hour early the line was 3 block long. Money grab charging for parking. Not handicap accessible. Tried standing in multiple locations on all floors and did not even catch a glimpse of the stage or the artist playing that night. I will not be returning to this venue.
Overdue review here. My wife and I got married at the Bluestone in March 2023. From the very beginning, Kayla did an absolutely amazing job in helping us with the details and logistics for our wedding. Her communication was always timely and thorough. The venue, decorations, food, and bar service was all A+. She and her staff were awesome in helping us set-up our custom decorations and our welcome tables. We encountered a couple of bigger, stressful issues: one leading up to the wedding and an issue during the reception, that she and her staff handled without issue. On top of our awesome wedding, its an excellent venue for live music. I cannot recommend this place enough for your wedding or a night out.
My first time in the Bluestone and, it’s a very cool venue in an old, historic church in the middle of downtown Cbus. That said, it’s a standing room only, first come, best dibs on sight lines kind of place. We went to see Wolf Van Halen on a sold-out night and, because we only got there 1 hour before the opening act, we literally stood on risers in the top corner of the venue and couldn’t see WVH at all during the entire show. So, best advice, stand in line 2+ hours before doors open or, only choose this venue for low-draw acts where it might be more cozy and intimate.
Been here twice, first time the venue was packed, so hard to enjoy myself but second time it wasnt crowded at all and I had a wonderful time. Can be very intimate
A good, fun place to watch a show. Leons and Kemba are better. But still a good place
My kids went to see MGK tonight and as they were leaving they purchased merch and drinks. They were yelled at on the way out the door bc of their drinks they just paid $10 for! The security yelled “drop the drinks now!” They left in shock. It was a horrible experience. Never again. Why not let them stay there and drink them or I don’t know..ASK them to throw them away??
Made a visit for a concert. Small place lots of people. I do believe it could have been managed a lot better in regards to lines and waiting a long time for everything (e.g. getting in the place, getting a drink, and restroom line). Basically no one knew where the lines started, how many lines there were and what the different lines were for. Sometimes it would take 45 minutes to get a drink and by the time you get to the counter you discover that the line you was in is no longer taking orders. I think this place has lots of potential with a minimal amount of planning. But I won’t be back to find out. It actually got a bit worse after everyone made it in and set up their lawn chairs #so crowded you can’t move. Lol first world country issues. Apparently this the first outdoor venue, I hope they learned a lot… don’t allow everyone to bring in a lawn chair and don’t fill the stage area with lemonade and food stands. Spread it all out into the parking lot that has all the cars parked.
Unique venue in the heart of columbus! Would certainly attend other shows here
This is so fantastic and amazing and has probably almost certainly brought so much fun positive energy and amazing fans to bluestone here in Columbus, Ohio. I was born and raised here in Columbus, Ohio, and I’ve always been an MGK fan and a Trippie Redd fan and now have two amazing sons that are also fans of both artists however, we did not hear about the free concert until after the window closed so we are here to leave a review in hopes that MGK or Trippie Redd will see this review or the manager or owner of Bluestone and help us get into see our two favorite artist there’s so much more information that goes along with our backstory of why we love these two artist however I lost my fiancé to gun violence in 2020 and he also Was a huge fan of both artist especially MGK. It would be an absolute dream come true, just to be able to be at this concert ❤️ Our favorite song by Mgk is lonely and we did get the chance Concert in Cleveland, Ohio go to one concert in Cleveland Ohio. We didn’t get to be close to him, but we did get to be in his audience and get to see trippi Redd as well!! Which was totally amazing but to hear that he’s actually in our hometown is so much more amazing !!! thank you guys so much for partnering with the best artist in the world and bring him to our hometown next time, I hope you guys publish size this a lot more so everyone gets a chance to earn free tickets Please get back to us. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🩹
One of the best places Ive ever seen the show! If you have a chance to see a band you like there and you miss it you are just depriving yourself more than youll ever know. I have never seen bad religion in such a small venue it was like you could reach out and touch the lead singer I mean just an absolutely amazing venue. I didnt adjust my rating but if I had one complaint get into the merchandise was kind of difficult but I would go 10 times over and deal with that all again because I just thought it was an amazing place to see a show
Such a nice venue. Parking seems like it is CASH only, which was not informed ahead of time. Staff was cool and everything a general admissoins concert can be, but... my biggest complaint is that standing on the stage left there are no speakers or any kind of sound system, or the speakers were not working properly. I heard nearly nothing at the concert from April 1st. Caught a couple words and could get most of the istirumental side of the music but was a pretty disappointing concert on the venues end. Not terribly made for being a cheaper concert.
HORRIBLE sound, beautiful venue.Attended the show 1/24 and the sound was muffled the band kept complaining, but their mics were so low even the sound guy didn’t hear them. Vocals, everything was mush. The sound booth is in the rafters trying tune an outdated system. The venue is a modified church and it’s clear it needs considerable sound tiling and updating the 12 Poolside-quality Bose speakers pointed at the balcony.Drove 2hrs to Columbus to hear Mozart thru a straw. Great for a wedding venue or a HS prom but not deserving of great bands. Fix it.
Forget Me Knot Photography absolutely loves working at The Bluestone! Its such a cool and unique venue with tons of photo opportunities for your wedding. The staff at The Bluestone is incredible and gracious. The food is always amazing. Forget Me Knot Photography is always excited to book couples here!
Amazing venue for a reception. Staff was wonderful. Id love to see a concert there soon.
Nice concert. Hated the wait outside in the cold. Took to long to let fans inside. I had to sit the entire time there.
First show there sadly will not return. Drake White was good way too many negative experiences with the peoples working at the venue
The venue was great. I had tickets to a VIP show expecting to be able to pay with a card. Wrong. Somehow I had $9.77 on my person and parking was $10. Guy wouldnt spot me less than a quarter and sent me down the road to an ATM. Missed most of the VIP experience because of it. Wish the e-mail they sent out was more clear on what payment methods were accepted for parking. Guy was just doing his job, I guess but still a little sore about it. Other than that, neat venue and friendly staff. Wheeler Walker Jr. and band were top tier, and venue only exalted them. Would love to see another show there again. Will def have cash on me next go-round.
Its a good concert venue. Not as big as a lot of other places but its definitely on a national circuit. An old Baptist Church with decent Acoustics and handicap access for those who need it. First floor has two bars and a small kitchen with a limited menu of typical bar food. They do charge for parking during events but you can park a little further away and walk if you dont want to pay the parking. The prices arent too terribly bad. Pretty comparable to other places. They do have a smoking area outside. Bathrooms are on the second floor and there is an elevator to the second floor if its needed. We have already attended a few concerts here and probably more in the future.
The Prince tribute band was amazing!Great energy and quite the show. The Bluestone is an amazing venue.
Fun place for an event. Set in an old chapel makes for interesting conversation. The staff is pretty mute..they are not rude by any means but not nice either ..just ok. Parking and the area again just ok. Know your surroundings and be aware🫶
Small but amazing little venue! Great views and experience. Staff was helpful also
Beautiful venue! Great location. Acoustics were excellent. Staff and security were efficient and helpful. Cant wait to go back for another show!
We went to The Bluestone to see Mammoth WVH. To park we turned in off Broad Street and it took a bit to get in as the entrance is only one lane and there was one person taking money. Parking was plentiful so once you get in its fine. There were plenty of bars so we never had trouble getting a beer or a drink. They had a decent selection to choose from so I would think most people will find something. The concert was sold out and your only choice is to stand. My wife is short so for the opening band she had a tough time seeing. We moved around a bit and got a good spot for Mammoth. We would definitely go back again. Maybe get there a little earlier to find a better spot to stand.
The bad: $10 cash only parking, this MUST be listed on the website going forward. Parking attendant told me where the nearest ATM was but was not knowledgeable about alternate parking. There is parking 2 blocks north that can be done online. Bluestone is 20 years behind the times in this. No menus for food/drink. Minimum staff when I visited so hard to get help with questions. Dont expect to see much of band if youre not several hours early. Seating for maybe 50 people, so if you cant stand for 4 hours probably not the place for you. No fire exit I could find. The good: beautiful location and building. Acoustics seemed good to me, but I had ear plugs. If youre tall youll love it! You feel close to the band, its a fairly small place but feels spacious. Very friendly staff! Convenient part of town.Main recommendations is to update the website to reflect the cash only parking and standing only.
Fun little venue. Very intimate. Its bigger then it looks but everything is still with-in eyesight (bathrooms, bars). Sound quality is a little iffy but there isnt a bad seat anywhere. For comparison it is roughly about the size of the Newport on the inside.
Really pretty venue. The people were great. At least at the show we went to the acoustics were not great. And there were WAY too many people at that show. You could barely walk through on the balcony and I am sure that those on the floor were locked in place. And with that many people I think at least 60% had no shot of seeing the band at all. I feel like it was probably a safety issue that the show was so oversold.
Went and saw Set It Off here and it was a great venue for it. Only thing was that it was only standing, for both floor and balcony
Great little venue for a show. Be ready to stand the entire time.
Great place to see a show.. loved it and hope to see another concert there!!!
Beautiful venue, great space, loved having the outdoor patio option!
When we arrived for the opener we were surprised just how loud it was in here (my watch measured up to 115 db). We asked everywhere and nobody had earplugs for sale or to give away. The venue is an old church and quite beautiful. Overall fairly nice if you remember earplugs. Tip: the sound is better from up top
Very cool place for concerts, but disappointing ADA accommodations. Its great that they have an elevator. Less so that it is turned off during shows. Its rough because thats where the bathrooms are located. Also they chained the only wheelchair accessible exit shut so exiting after a performance was a very slow waiting for it to be unlocked.
The venue itself is a cool concept, however, my recent experience at a concert here was the worst venue experience Ive ever had. The venue seriously oversold the show, leaving concertgoers packed in like sardines. Unless you were in the front row on the floor or balcony, there was no visibility to see the band.In addition to poor visibility and overcrowding, the acoustics were absolutely horrendous. This left my husband and I appalled, as we expected phenomenal acoustics since the venue is a former church. We chose a spot near the center of the balcony and the sound was deafening. I mean this genuinely. The sound was so piercing that we both suffered temporary hearing loss for the rest of the night. Neither of us had ear protection and ultimately decided to leave halfway through the show as to try to prevent permanent hearing loss. We were so disappointed, as this was one of our favorite bands. My recommendations to the venue - update your website to notify attendees of the $10 cash-only parking fee, stop overselling your shows to make a quick buck, and totally overhaul your sound system. You are in a former church for goodness sake.My recommendations to potential concertgoers - if your favorite band plays here, travel to another city on their tour to see them. This venue will leave you with nothing but disappointment. Also, please, please, please wear ear protection if you attend a concert here.
Great place for concerts not a bad seat in the house.
Our least favorite venue in the city. Unfortunately they book some great talent, which forces us to come here, otherwise we wouldn’t lol. Sold out shows are WAY WAY oversold, causing everyone to not enjoy themselves. The entire facility is one giant bottleneck after the next. The sound system is TERRIBLE unless you are standing directly in the center in the dance floor area, which is only about 50% of the space for standing. So basically, only half the people who spent money to see a band/group/dj, get to actually hear it. The floor by the bar you can watch it bow/flex like 3-4” when everyone is packed in there and jumping on it. I don’t understand how that’s safe at all and how it ever even passed inspection. The balcony, you used to be able to go up there with general admission tickets. They only let “vip” tickets up there now, and I’m assuming that’s because it’s a capacity issue and it isn’t safe to have loads of people up there(similar to how the floor by the bar is about to give out). One side of the venue has a wall of glass, and makes it impossible to hear the show, or stand and watch from that side. Just an all around terrible place to watch shows in my opinion. It’s very clear the the owners do not want to invest a single $1 in this place, but that’s what rich people do. They take advantage of the unsuspecting ticket buyers, and they ride that cash cow till it has no milk left to give, then move on to their next investment
Beautiful venue with good acoustics. Loved the opportunity to watch from the railing on the second floor. Outdoor access with seating for breaks between sets or just if you need some air was a nice touch.
Not enough bathroom or places to go to the bathroom if you needed to lines were too long could have prepared better
Small intimate venue. Unique experience. Prices on beverages (non-alcoholic included) rather pricey when compared to previous venues we have attended.
Cool looking venue with clean bathrooms, but terrible air movement and a nonexistent stage area security team. I went to a show last night and stood as close to the security gate as you could get and unfortunately dealt with a rowdy, inappropriate, disruptive group next to us the entire time. The group caused a lot of issues with loyal fans and even the lead singer had to call them out. Seemed like a situation that could have been handled by a security team had they been paying attention.
Great venue for a wide variety of acts. Plenty of floor room, and also some balcony space for a cool alternative view. Good staff and good drink selection. Will definitely be back for plenty of concerts.
Security was kind. Facilities clean. Sound, crisp, booze reasonable. Nice venue. A loop of seats around the bottom section to sit down..If you need a seat, get in early.
Super cool venue! The upstairs VIP section is really cool. Awesome view of the stage from the upstairs balcony! Staff is nice and bathrooms were unique. Drinks are great too. Knock2 was fire! Cant wait to go back when another of my favorite artist is playing here! Might try to see Switchfoot thats coming up! My only issue is that the AC is trash because it was HOT! Even the DJ mentioned how hot it was during his set lol. Fix that and youre perfect.
Be warned. Parking is $10, CASH ONLY, and you dont find this out until youre already in line. Inside has no food offerings, and the acoustics are definitely sub-par compared to other small local venues. It is also so loud you can hardly hear anything else. Ive been to hundreds of shows all over the world and this is probably the loudest venue of all the ones Ive been to. They do get good acts, and the place is clean and well-kept. This is probably my least favorite music venue in central Ohio.
Beautiful old church and a great concert venue.
Donnie Irish concert. He was great. The venue was a good size.
Tried to go see Here Come the Mummies tonight checked the website and called the venue before we left our house said it wasn’t going to sell out and we could buy tickets at the door. We got there and a man with a headset said the band just started and have a good night got scanned at the door that guy said the show started two minutes before. We opened the door to go in and a young girl came out and said we couldn’t come in sessions Was closed. We said we can’t buy tickets she said no it’s sold out. As we turned around several of the people outside from the other bands looked confused and said it wasn’t sold out. Not cool.
Easy to find , seemed like plenty of parking however we arrived early. Parking has some lighting. The line to get in moves rather quickly. You do have to go through security check point , which does mean going through metal detectors , but again it does go pretty quick. This is an old church so the interior is what you might expect a lot of wood and stained glass. But at the same time a lot of modern stuff too. Staff are very helpful and and friendly. Restrooms are very nice everything up to date and clean. Great place to see a concert. Can get a little crowded if big event. No seats so you are standing for entire show , but you can move around. There is a mezzanine if you want to see show from a higher vantage point. We were there for what I believe was a sold out show. Empties out pretty quick and the highway is around the corner. I think we were on highway about 5 minutes after getting to our car. Recommend checking it out for an event.
We were there to see The Struts. Music was great. The A/C was an issue. Even the band said something about it. Be prepared to stand all night as there is little to no seating & they pack the place. Youll be shoulder to shoulder.
The show was amazing! The venue was excellent. My only complaint is that its a smaller venue, there was a large crowd, and the air conditioning was sporadic.
Went to a a concert here and was amazed with the atmosphere. They have 2 bars. Amazing designed and well kept bathrooms. And security was nice and plentiful.
Great venue to see any band.
It was Ok. Its an entertainment venue. Sound was Ok, Very limited seating, bathrooms in one area only. Drink prices were much worse than TKOC and Promowest Venues. Gets the job done.
Its a cool place but not for music. The sound was dramatically different from each level and depending on how far back you were especially on the first level. Drake White sounded good at the top level but in the lower level you could hardly hear him. Then you couldnt see anything unless you got there first to grab a front seat
Perfect place to see a concert. Lots of fun.
We had our wedding here. It was wonderful. The food was great, and the staff was amazing. We didnt have to worry about anything, and the space is gorgeous.
Super cool venue! I really like the layout of the venue, and it was easy to view the show from several different places. I liked that they had several bars open so it was easy to get a drink. The balcony was a cool vantage point but was a bit too hot/stuff for us.
All positive reviews raved about the acoustics but the acoustics were average and the music was so loud that you couldnt hear the words being sung when we were ten feet away from the artists. No mention of the $10 cash only parking fee when purchasing the tickets. Standing room only, $5 waters and $10+ drinks. An anything goes venue, the people standing next to me were openly smoking and talking about bringing marijuana inside less than 10 feet from the security guard.
I like this venue. Saw Mammoth WVH here... Its got a similar vibe as Newport, but without everything being oddly sticky..Will definitely go here again for shows.
I am incredulous! My friend Sheryl and I paid $300.00 each to see Jonathan McReynolds last evening. We decided to splurge since he is my favorite gospel artist. Unfortunately, we were not able to see the stage. The venue said Ticketmaster should have sent us a different email with a particular image. The VIP section was completely empty. We left before the concert started. Horrible experience. Also, the Bluestone venue has no air conditioning; the staff members were all rude.
Such a cool venue, small in the best way.
Always a great time a venue. Sound and lighting on point.
One of the best places to see a concert by far.
I attended the breakaway afterparty knock2 on 8/26. These are patterns Ive noticed at the Bluestone after being in the EDM scene for years. Once I entered the venue, I noticed this show was entirely too crowded, with little room to move or even get on the GA floor, and extremely hot with little ventilation.. in August, after a massive music festival. Our group ended up going outside after about 10 minutes due to how unenjoyable it was. Quite frankly, as a nurse, this is a massive health hazard. What if there was an emergency in the crowd? What if people overheated due to dancing all day before this in 90 degree weather? Im disappointed because it felt like a money grab. My impression was bluestone was taking advantage of as many festival goers as possible. Do better, guys.I also sent an email to the bluestone regarding this and never heard back.
Just went to a struts concert this week and did not enjoy this venue. The concert was great but the venue was overcrowded, the majority of people can’t see the performer well (except the front row of the balcony and the front row on the floor), and it was extremely hot. I will not be going back to the bluestone for a concert
Clean! Easy parking, personal concert size, great sound, 4 bars, and pizza? What else could you want! If you want good second floor view gotta get there early though. Im looking for another reason to go!
Horrible parking experience. The guy who would only take $10 cash was rude and unhelpful. I was lost in dowtown columbus, it was dark, street parking was full and when I first asked for help he sent me to a closed BP down the road and when I got back he wouldnt help me and kept repeating I dont know what to tell you, but you need go away right now! I tried another gas station that was a mile down the road and when I went to turn down the road it was closed completely with baracades. At that point I was overwhlemed and so I just went home and missed my show Id been excitingly anticipating for 2 motnhs. Lesson is make sure you bring a $10 BILL for parking.
It was very difficult to see the band. No seating standing room only. Price of a drink was outrageous. $12 for a beer. I will not be going back. Oh yea the ticket was $18.and then ticketmaster had to get their fee which took 2 tickets to over $70 total.
I could give more than 100 reasons you should have your wedding at The Bluestone. To start, Kayla makes the entire process so easy! She was there every step of the way with answers to every single question we had and helped create the best wedding we could have hoped for.The venue has history built into it. It provides an awesome layout for a wedding with the stain glass windows helping create great colors for the ceremony. They hold concerts, so having the lights and equipment they already have was fantastic. The crew that helps leading up to the event and during the event were so nice, professional and efficient to cater to everything we asked for.Everyone has told us constantly how awesome the ceremony and reception were and how delicious the food was.We cannot thank Kayla and The Bluestone enough for making our wedding such an absolute joyful and perfect night for us. We are forever grateful to you!Final shoutout for Kayla, thanks for even helping jump our car battery the morning after!
It was an pleasurable and unique experience. All the staff from the parking attendant to the bartenders were professional, friendly, and didnt disappoint on any level. The building was originally a church but has been transformed into a venue that can serve any purpose. Im looking forward to going back to see another concert in a couple months.
Its an interesting and different venue. Hard to get into the vibe for an EDM show. Its still very much like a church inside. The bathrooms are nice.
Ada seating was behind plexiglass. Like the Popemobile. It cut sound in half. I wanted to buy a T-shirt. Elevator was out and only on sale on the 2nd floor. Everyone was kind as they told me that they would watch my walker if I could do it on my own. Again, staff was as kind as they could be. But MGMT is obviously uncompliant in ADA requirements. Things happen, Im aware. Im already uncomfortable with my situation, But it its situations like this that makes me questionable about getting out. Please fix... :(
Good venue with plenty of parking and bathrooms!
One of the most beautiful venues i have been too, great sound, very clean also got to talk to West super kind person. Came all the way from Detroit to see Ben Burgess 10/10 will make the 4 hour drive again for more shows at this venue.
Venue is awful and avoid at all costs. They way oversell shows. Sound is muffled in many areas of the venue. Sight lines are terrible unless you’re right in the very middle section. Horrible place to see a band you like
Its a small venue but thats what makes it so special. Its beautiful inside. The building outside is beautiful because it used to be a church. Thursday upstairs balcony area where you can stand and watch up close and personal concerts.. highly recommended
I went for a concert and could barely see the artist. Standing room only. My friends were shorter than me and had an even worse experience. The concert was great but the venue couldve been better.
Cool old church. Great smaller venue to see a concert!
This is a great venue for concerts. The acoustics are awesome. It does, however, get very hot when there is a packed crowd.
No mention made on the website of the $10 for parking. Also, security sucked and would have let a crowdsurfer fall on her head had a band member not caught her. They clearly were unprepared for the type of crowd the bands I saw attract and need to do better research before booking if their security is going to behave that way.
Its an awesome building. I just dont know about the concert area. The room seemed to be echoing the sounds and I couldnt hardly understand the words to songs I know. Also the window upstairs in the hallway leaks. Would be a great venue for weddings and other events.
The building itself is incredible and I have been to many shows here over the last decade or so. Unfortunately the last two bass shows I went to there were so grossly oversold. Last night, girls were crying in the bathroom bc they couldnt enjoy themselves with the heat caused by overpacking the place. Even the artists with fans in their face commented on how hot it was. We were in VIP and could see people in the crowd below struggling... definitely not dancing.Lots of people left before the concert was even over. I hope that the bass artists we love see this and pick another one of the amazing venues CBus has to offer. No one gets excited anymore about a bass show at the bluestone :( I have gone to non-bass shows there this year, not oversold. Enjoyable.
Im disabled and bluestone was so fabulous to me. they made every effort to help me be as comfortable as possible in my wheelchair. I did just have one complaint. there was no handicapped parking with a lighted area.i need a transfer spot but they did let us park in the front lot..there is no food at the venue just drinks and no seats. but it was beautiful and the staff was amazing. Id definitely go back
Amazing venue and great staff. Fast drinks too
Beautiful venue with great staff and expensive beers. $10.00 a can is just a little much for me. However, its not everyday youre at a concert, so splurge a little, right? Or save the money and buy some merch. Its your call.
Cool place to have a small concert. The prices on drinks are ridiculous. $12 for a beer. They may have better sales of they kept price to that of a normal bar.
We saw Matt Meason and the venue was perfect for it.
This place is very cool. An old church that is now a stage. Easy to get to and easy to get out of. Parking could have been a little cheaper, but thats big city living! All can/ domestic beers. Mixed drinks. Great bar staff. Had to deal with an idiot that took my chair when I went to the bathroom. Call security and they were all over it. Went for the Candlebox concert and they ROCKED! No food, but no problem. Will definitely keep my eye on this place and their future concerts!!
Went to concert at The Bluestone. First, its gorgeous. I got a tour before the show. The stained glass at the top was beautiful, glad I got to see it in the sunlight. It was very clean, and floor wasnt sticky. I didnt drink, but my wife got a beer, an ipa for 12 bucks. Its on the high end for concerts Ive been to, but the scenery made it worth it. There is an upstairs and down stairs, both with bars. The restrooms are upstairs, signs point the way. Overall one the concert venues I have been to. And thanks to the band Kashd Out for getting me to go.
