Axis Nightclub

I visited this place for 9 years of my life and on May 5 I was a victim of aggression, through no fault of my own since I was only going to enjoy myself as I had done during my 9 years, but the most disappointing thing of all is that I tried to obtain the evidence to be able to continue with the lawsuit from my aggressors and they never wanted to provide it, I sent an email to the manager, etc., it is sad to be insecure and that your life is in danger, since I did not receive any support from the police, I did not receive them. I care about my case, belonging to the LGTGQ+ community.They wanted to re-enter Axis again but we told the police that they were the aggressors and they did not stop them, they just took them out of the place.These criminals are free and you can be other victims.I do not recommend visiting this place, do not expose your life.

Freezing, floor was disgustingly sticky, and the club was one of the loudest I’ve ever been in (not a good thing). I went back to my hotel to get my earplugs. The performances were pretty good, and the crowd was lively. Patio was much nicer tbh.

Axis brings some big names to town, but then puts them on a stage with the worst sound system Ive heard. Juice isnt worth the squeeze. Happy to change my opinion and review when they dont charge for an event then use the spare Bluetooth speakers they have in the cellar.

Rude staff and known for drugging patrons!! Do not go here!! There are many other amazing safe spaces in Columbus! This place is also owned by well know republicans so spend your queer dollar somewhere that supports our community!

DO NOT GO HERE. Not a safe space anymore. The managing staff is unprofessional. You took away bookings from a well known Drag Queen in the community because they wanted to bring queer business your way. You treat entertainers with disrespect. If your an ally or a queer, you wont go to this club or Union Cafe across the street. They dont pay their artists like they say they will.

Fun! We had a good time. DJ played a number of really danceable music but after the well done drag show. The music tone and mix changed

Axis is one of the best dance clubs I have been to, special emphasis on the Dance part. The party goers here do not sit around! The floor is packed and the diverse clientele gives it a really fun and high energy atmosphere.

They decided to close early on saturday night without any warning (they close at 2:30 and everyone was kicked out by 2:05, no announcement or anything), out on the patio, they locked all of the doors BEFORE telling us they were “closed” and we had to leave, leaving at least 30 of us with open tabs and an 80% gratuity” charge!? after some pushback and asking to be escorted inside so we could pay our tabs (at this point it was still not 2:30), security told us to leave or they would call the police. genuinely will never, ever come back.

How is this place still open? Why are the cops not shutting this place down? There needs to be a thorough investigation of the amount of illegal drugs being unknowingly given to people. This is beyond dangerous.

I have been going to axis for about 2 1/2 years so I know my limits when it comes to how much I drink. I went this past Saturday and was roofied and I am 99% sure it was a bartender because our group never leaves our drinks unattended, after reading the other reviews someone must do something about this.

This used to be a great dance bar. The lighting system is really good. DJing is usually good. Unfortunately now more a show bar, with little opportunity for dancing. Bartending is not too bad. But cleanliness is just awful. One recent night we arrived just at opening in order to meet others. Floor was already insanely sticky and bathroom was yucky. Just gross. Buy a steam cleaner and do the floors EVERY day before opening.

Moved to Columbus recently and this has been one of the greatest gay bar experiences I’ve ever had. Everyone is welcoming and fun, and the drag shows are top notch. First time I went I asked one of the bartenders to make up a coconut drink and it was amazing. Now every time I go he recognizes me and knows my order before I even ask!Looking forward to many more nights at this Columbus LGBT landmark!

Came up to Columbus with my bf, we were visiting his friends. We went here with a friend and at first it was kinda boring bc we’re all 18 couldn’t get drinks but as soon as we found the courage to dance on the stage the night turned into a blast we met great people. Danced and sang our hearts out. Our friend lost his car keys, they got turned into bar and staff was kind abt returning them

Drinks are way over priced and quality of the drink mixes was not good and not consistent. The music was at a constant 140-150 dB which is permanent ear damage in less than 5 minutes. Many burnt out or not working stage lighting on the main stage. It was super crowded with no staff keeping any sort of walk ways clear so you have to bump and push through no matter where you go. The few staff members I talked to had no idea what stage the shows for the night were on and just kept telling me to go ask the bar tenders. Know your venue! Poor customer service!Doubt I will ever return, sad this was my first visit and I heard so many great things from my friends. Was not impressed!Only positive was the attendant in the restroom was very polite.

Usually have a pretty good time here, but drink prices are quite high, and staff have been rude at times.

The DJ slayed but I personally like more variety other than unce unce unce unce unce unce unce 💃

Worst sound system is Columbus come and enjoy the volume being turned up and down 100 times per song it’s great!

I had read a bunch of reviews about roofie problems here and even work with someone who had been roofied here not long ago. I thought I’d we went early at 7 to see the drag show and not for the club me and my wife would be safe but within the first 10 minutes of being there my wife was roofied when I went to use the bathroom. I confirmed later that night that a tall blond white girl with I believe red ends had put around a dime size amount of powder in my wife’s drink, we had figured out later in the night that she had been roofied and about the girl and the powder. It was the girls 21s birthday and she was there with another tall white girl long black hair, a short light skin girl with a small pink froe, and two white males one tall and one short. I would look out for this group and avoid them. I can’t ever trust this place again, not with how dangerous we found out roofieing can be and how scary it was for my wife.

A good friend of my mothers had gone with a friend who got roofied, which is a KNOWN problem there yet the Bartender whos been seen doing it is still there.Do not go here at all, read all the reviews from peoples personal experiences here.I dont understand why this bar is okay knowing a Bartender is drugging people over and over.Horrible establishment

It’s incredible to charge 45 dollars for a pre sale wristband, and be told that it grants you access to not waiting in line. And not only does it not grant You immediate access but it gives you first hand experience to abrasive behaviors from the bouncers. 4X45 is too much to charge and none of us get in. Communication is everything and so respect for another which tonight clearly lacked…. Beyond Disappointed I just hope that same aggression is given to your actual enemies and not your fellow peers. Very scared to go back. Ive been here about 6 times and the last two I was roofied. I swear I didnt even put my drink down at all. Upon talking to other friends who go there and other members of the gay community, all of them say that the bartenders drug the drinks. Thats the only thing I can think of because no one can get BLACKOUT after just one drink. Doesnt make sense. Stay safe out there everyone.

Club was nice! I do recommend bringing cash to pay for drinks as the bartender’s increased my tip $25 on top of my $50 tip. Seen the adjustment on my mobile bank app. Haven’t been back in 1.5 years since.

Was going to the bathroom, asked my boyfriend for help as I’ve been drinking , we seen about 6 other people go into the stalls two at a time thought it was okay, a minute later after I pulled up my pants the bouncer grabs the door, and slams it open, WHILE IT WAS LOCKED, literally busts open not knowing if I was decent not a knock or anything and screams at us , we were in there for about 1 1/2 minutes it was ridiculous. If that’s gonna be a rule make it a rule for everyone and have some decorum when addressing an issue. Ruined our night and we left

This place is a shell of what it used to be. I wont go into details but read the other reviews- staff are complicit in drugging patrons.

When I think of a safe place for queer folks to have a fun night out, some absolute musts: bouncers who care less about underage drinking than they do perpetuating this club’s transphobic atmosphere, bartenders who spike drinks of unwitting women, and junkie queens shooting up in the bathroom! Axis has it all! Highly recommend for anyone who wants a time they won’t remember even if they wanted to!

Always have a great time here. Only go a couple times a year these days but still have a blast every time. Although last few times it was completely dead up until the last 30 minutes or so.Staff is friendly as hell and tons of CUTE PEOPLE!! ;)Admission is cheap, drinks are EXPENSIVE!! variety of shows and stuff going on. Music is typically OKAY. would like more pop without the remix or techno.. as well as more hip hop.Other then that, its great.

Went here while I was in Columbus visiting family. Everyone was so nice, and I saw my first drag show. I loved it! Cant wait to go again next time Im in Ohio.

I feel old AF typing this, but its been about 20 years since my Axis days, and they were some of the greatest nights of my life (hence the review).We had the opportunity to party here before every as*hole had a smartphone in their hands. Things were wild, things were exciting, and the best part is there was no evidence of our debauchery.Even as a straight male, Id always felt welcome. Soooooo much fun, I wish I had a time machine. Had a great time when I was here three years ago for Columbus pride. This year however, they ruined my trip because I couldnt get in. You had to buy a ticket for an event they had, and tickets werent sold at the door. They wouldnt let anybody in unless you bought one ahead of time.

I have many friends who have been roofied while visiting this bar. Its well known within the Columbus LGBTQA+ community this happens and is warned about.

I’ve been to Axis 25+ times and I can confidently say it is the best nightclub in Columbus!! The shows are ALWAYS on point and the hosts of the shows keep my friends dying of laughing the ENTIRE night. If it’s ur first time going you HAVE to see Ava Aurora Foxx!!!!The Entertainment is top notch and I have never been unsatisfied with a trip to Axis. The workers are super super sweet too, Tim especially brightens up my day and Jessie at the front desk is always such a pleasure to interact with. The environment is welcoming, fun as hell, and has the best drag in Columbus. They make everyone feel safe and comfortable at Axis by having loads of bouncers/security and immediately kicking out people who act weird/creepyNever a dull moment at Axis!

The place was beautiful, the drinks were strong and the staff were so friendly. Two stars only because after receiving my second drink of the evening there, itd been drugged. I get if thats something you want to do with your friends, whatever, but dont drug a random strangers beverage. I will not be returning as Im too terrified that this will happen again. I know its not the first time folks have been drugged here.

One of the worst bars Ive ever visited. The place wreaks of lots and lots of vomit. The dragon hosting Sunday night was the worst and most egregious one Ive witnessed. He berates patrons while pretending to preach love. Practice what you preach. Get another job if you cant entertain and set the mood. All I could hear was screaming and yelling at anyone who wasnt giving full attention. Its a bar, people are supposed speak and socialize. Instead he expects people to clap when they are speaking with their friends. They might not be there for the awful show. It May be little of what Columbus has, and Im sorry for that. I can still smell the vomit after getting home.

Me & my best friend decided to go one night for the first time we parked where everyone was parking got in line & in line they held on to our ids gave us braclets and x’s I turn 21 this year so I have been to lots of places where you get x’d but I’ve never had someone hold my id. We go in & it’s pretty packed & we weren’t planning on drinking obvi just for fun we were there for abt 2 hrs when we decided to leave when we went to go get our ids outside we were in the collect your id line when the girl in front of us was having a breakdown bc they lost her Id then they were just telling her to wait they will find it later she obviously wanted to go home. They move onto us give us our ids. me and my friend head back to the car keep in mind we parked where everyone else was parking we’re looking for the car which is now not there and another car is parked there were freaking out bc we have never been towed before there is no note no number to call so we go back up to the bouncers who then proceed to tell us that they watched it get towed sorry 🤷🏻‍♀️ safe to say we probably won’t be back.

Stop serving underage girls! AND YOU ARE and have served my 16 yr old step daughter we just found out! What you don’t want is us to catch her there and have an alcoholic beverage you don’t want those problems.

May claim to be a “safe space” but whenever queer issues happen with queer people, they will stop caring at all. not a safe space. not for queer people. if not it’s a fun atmosphere with fun people

We recently tried to attend an event here. They don’t have any parking aside from like two spaces up near the front. We tried to park nearby and was told if we did that our car would get towed. The bouncer at the front had no interest in helping us and basically told us we were out of luck. We needed up just leaving and missing the show.I won’t be attending an event here again.

Went to a show staff was nice people were fun. But after two drinks I was blacked out drunk. I’ve heard stories about people being drugged and roofied but I went with it anyway. Go for the entertainment but for the love of god don’t drink you will regret it.

I had a great time inside but the girl at the front taking IDs had an absolutely horrible attitude! She was rude and didnt act like she knew how to have a pleasant conversation with anyone. Im not sure if Ill be back because of this. Presence and attitude make a big difference.

Their attempt at being “woke” by implementing a gender-neutral restroom has done nothing but make everyone uncomfortable. A girl pulled down her skirt and peed in the urinal beside me while talking to me the whole time and trying to “peek” at me. Disgusting. Especially considering they have a restroom monitor. Why bother? The whole experience is ruined by straight women who never stop photographing and video recording everyone because they don’t understand the struggles of the LGBTQ community. Not to mention the aggressive, threatening police raids at 2 am forcing everyone out the door.

Axis is a blast! We always have a great time. Bartenders are attentive, the environment is lively, and the patio provides a calm space after all the excitement indoors.

UPDATE: after reading other reviews, I am NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO WAS BEEN DRUGGED AND KICKED OUT AT THIS CLUB. Ill never trust Axis again. I thought we were supposed to support each other. It makes me very sad and disappointed. :(I was here this weekend for pride to see Adore Delano. Spent over $50 dollars for a ticket because Kim Chi was supposed to be there too... she wasnt there. I had been at pride all day, waiting in lines outside. When we got to Axis I had one drink, then shared another drink with a friend. While in line waiting for the meet and greet my drink was left unattended on the table while I went to the bathroom. When I came back and started drinking it, I felt confused and way more intoxicated than I should have, and at this point I knew I had been drugged and threw my drink away. I sat down on the ground with a friend because I didnt feel well but Adore is my favorite queen and I was 5th in line to meet her, there was no way I was leaving. I was so confused that I thought we were still outside, since we had been most of the day, so I lit up a cigarette. A guy in a regular shirt came up to me and told me I couldnt smoke in here, and I realized I was inside and immediately put the cigarette out, apologizing profusely. The next thing I know the table is being yanked away from me and Im being drug up from the ground by a guy in a black shirt with a police officer next to him. I told them it was my mistake and I was sorry and to please just let me get my picture and I would leave. Even the police officer apologized and said that he would have given me a second chance had the manager not been SO insistent that I get kicked out. I was confused, scared, and had two large grown men yelling into my face. I told the manager I only had two drinks and he cursed at me, told me I was a liar, and told me I had to get out. I begged him to please just let me get my picture and I would leave. The officer then proceeded to drag me out to the sidewalk, take a pair of scissors and cut my wristband off, then left me there alone. I dont know how long it took for my friends to get out there and find me. Anything could have happened during that time. I never even got a chance to explain myself because the manager was screaming in my face so much all I could do was cry and apologize and beg him to just let me stay for a picture, then I would leave. I was drugged by some P.O.S. and dragged out of Axis for a small mistake I made when I was only minutes away from meeting my favorite queen in the world. Needless to say, I will NEVER spend another PENNY at Axis, and everyone I know who goes there will hear about this story. My friends and I used to come to Axis at least twice a month to see shows and have spent a lot of money there.... not anymore, thanks to that one insensitive and extremely rude and angry manager. I wish I knew your name, so I could personally thank you for ruining my entire pride.

Club staff is horrible. I was recently put in an uncomfortable situation here and when trying to confront staff to get help I was completely written off. Will never be returning here as the atmosphere no longer feels safe or welcoming. Sad that when someone has a genuine issue or concern staff is uninterested and not helpful what so ever.

We had so much fun until a person stole from myself and my friend. We paid $250 for a gift basket that helped raise money and a person decided to pick through the basket while sitting next to us. I am appalled that this would happen. What can be done to rectify this matter??We paid good money for a table and supported the bar/preforming staff and yet we were taken advantage of. This is NOT ok.

Dreadful. I came for the Saturday night Pride event. Could not distinguish between the Dance floor music and the Drag show on the stage. I was not impressed with the show, have been to them all over the country. Had to pay an event entry fee that was not worth it. Paid almost as much for a bottle of water as a drink usually costs, was there only 45 minutes and on the way out was told I could not take my water even though it was posted that Alcohol was not permitted past the point. Over all, was not impressed and will never go back for any reason. I gave it one star only because I could not do a 1/2 star.

Great place even if you are straight. Me and my wife found this place by accident and went in anyway. Very friendly people and staff. Everyone was smiling the whole night most of all it felt super safe. Not one time did we have to worry about and club drama like other clubs!!

Way over crowded, no room to enjoy a drag show. Way too many people Im talking wall to wall literally. It was a nice place, although if your going to have an event that has reserved seats PLEASE INFORM THE PATRONS AHEAD OF TIME. AND DONT OVER PACK AND BREAK THE FIRE CODES!!!! I lived in Columbus between 02-04 and I enjoyed this cutting edge club with its finest DJs and gorgeous patrons! Nevertheless, back then, the customers were all so stuck-up and druggy. Everyone acted like zombies there but I still loved dancing to the melodies.

Fun environment, lively music, and thankful to the bartender with the mohawk that was working tonight.... Lost my bank card and he found it and made sure it was safe in a crowded room and made sure it landed in the appropriate hands and his customer service was excellent. overall great night.

Always an incredible time at Axis Club! Although the phone doesn’t seem to be working. Only downside is that I wasn’t able to give the DJ requests for specific songs. Really fun time, pretty clean and very friendly staff :)

The floor was so sticky that you could barely walk around . They did not ID customers while entering. The staff was very unprofessionalDeescalating a fight . The staff continued to use inappropriate language with those customers and some staff even threatened customers to fight. I was very disappointed. I will not be coming back to this bar.

I had a really good time and the bartender really knew what he was doing. I danced without being bothered by anyone in a bad way, people interacted with me off the dance floor, and were really cool.Its really hard to get a hold of anyone for the lost and found or in general.

If you are a 20 something you may like it. It was very crowded and we kept getting bumped into by drunk bridesmaids and teeny boppers who didnt seem to know when to say when. There was constantly a line for the dirty bathroom and the drinks where very expensive and watered down. I know my drinks, definitely watered down. The 3 stars are for the drag show, which was pretty awesome😁

It’s not a gay nightclub anymore, it’s more straight and the music is very bland now.

I had a terrible experience. A group of 7 of us during pride spent 25 dollars each to get in only to be kicked out 20 minutes later, solely because of capacity. When we tried to reenter to explain the situation and hopefully get a refund we were denied entry from the street from the Fire Marshall. We spent almost 200 dollars collectively for nothing. Myself or my friends will never be back. It’s one thing to organize and explain if things get too crazy, but that never even close to happened. This experience is one of the worst service experiences I’ve encountered.

They book the talent, but treat the patrons like mules. Cover charges, high drink prices, separate liquor liscenses to block people with drinks from one side of the bar to the other. Even absurd policies to recharge cover fees for partrons who leave. 0/10. Even the talent seems to put minimal effort in 10 minute sets. Its unfortunate this is the only place to book. Standards are in the dirt, bar is set to low due to lack of competition. Do not recommend, if you can avoid it

I went here just to get out the house with my boyfriend and everyone was so nice. No one was overly aggressive like I thought it would be. My boyfriend and I had reasonable amounts of liquor and I danced to my hearts content. Did I mention they guys are beautiful? yup.. they were.

First gay nightclub experience with my husband. Never going back. You be got nasty people climbing damn near on you while they dry hump and snoody bi%#hes that wanna give dirty looks. My god that made me as a gay man feel so disgusted at my own kind. No class here. People really come out and show their true colors when drinking. NASTY!!!!

Im gonna be visiting in February..coming from NYC...I havent been at a dance club since they closed SPLASH bar...maybe my expectations are a little high..but I really REALLY miss the energy...the vibe..the intense music..and just getting on the dance floor ..and having a hell of a night....I hope to see u guys in February...I will be celebrating my birthday....

This place is a great place to party but ive noticed on two separate occasions when closing my drink tab i did not leave a tip and they charged me for my drink and then later charged me for a tip i did not leave??? I will be contacting them on the matter as it’s literally theft but other than that its a great time.

Dont me get me wrong I love the club BUT!! Yall dont have to play techno songs the whole ENTIRE NIGHT!!! or play POP songs you should TRY to APPEAL to different CROWDS of people that come to YOUR CLUB........... and P.S not all songs needs a techno beat

It was a little to warm for me but it was an amazing time regardless!

Lots of creepy old guys and the bouncers are totally against pregaming if you show the slightest bit of buzzed they are kicking you to the curb.

It is what it is and they are good at what they do, especially if you like drag queens.
