This is my favorite hole in the wall to go to because everyone is so nice when the young crowd isnt fighting and breaking hookahs... Cant blame the establishment though. I still come and bring friends when I can. Celebrated my birthday here two years in a row. Grown and sexy vibes. If you dont know how to parallel park, Uber. You can bar hop as well. Love it there.

The Spot was EVERYTHING!! The vibe was amazing. My sis brought me here for my bday drinks. The music and drinks were on point! Will definitely be back.

What can I say? They dont call it The Spot for nothing. For anyone coming to the Tray, its the spot. The spot for hookah, strong drinks, shots, and great music! Its hood and packed on the inside, but Ive never been there when any drama went down. Always a good time and everybody just having fun being outside. Food trucks are always on the block too, so you can grab something quick to eat, Fried fish, barbecue trucks etc. Parking is bad, so uber if you can. Some side streets have strict towing enforced policies.

Always a good vibe, and they give you the option to tip them, which makes you want to be generous because there is not a scam involved.

We were in Houston for my husbands birthday. We went with friends. This was a nice hangout spot. They had a food truck outside. The food was delicious. DJ was accommodating.. very nice..

Dropped by on a Sunday evening since I was in the area. Small hole-in-the-wall location but I had a GREAT time. Since it was a Sunday evening, it was not too crowded, just enought folks to have a good time. The DJ was nice and the crowd of people were all there to enjoy themselves. I would visit again. Didnt hve any food but the drinks did not receive any complaints from my crew of folks. Not for you if you expecting something really fancy.

Always a great time when we’re in town visiting. The same bartender is still behind the bar serving great strong drinks! His Customer service is great as well.

Food truck.... oxtails were slamming.

The bartenders are amateurs at best. Poor poor customer service skills. No system of serving and the girl bartender will overcharge your card without authorization which can put the venue in fraud litigation. She thinks that she is being smart but is far from it.

I’m from Toronto and got introduced to this bar and honestly I fell in love and really consider moving to Houston. The vibe was amazing and so friendly, I felt like I was at a family reunion. I Would Def recommend that anyone who visits Houston stops by ❤️

Small club. Bartenders operate on a system of who they know first. May take 30min for them to even acknowledge you. Space is limited but the amount of alcohol given in each drinks makes up for trip. The whole club gets better one drink at a time so order up

Depends on the crowd youre looking for if hood af is it then you will like this. I hear the drinks are well priced. Its a decent spot but I def wouldnt wear heels here. Cute sandals or sneakers.

My friends and I love the stop its a chill spot to go to with friends to talk, have a few drinks, and vibe to the music. No drama, love it. Have not had no food there so not sure about food.

Super chill very laid back, dj played nice music..I thoroughly enjoyed their Green tea shots, its a great meeting spot!! I had a great time and enjoyed the food truck adjacent to the property.Salmon bites w/ krinkle cut fries...DELICIOUS!!!!

You know what I cant lie coming from a place where its common to have to watch over your shoulder or atleast keep an eye on your surroundings this place made me feel cozy. All beautiful brown ppl around, smiling no mess just vibes...its been a while since Ive been out. This was a vibe and my cousin is visiting so it was perfect setting. Way to go my people!

I love this place. Its a great place for week night happy hours. The perfect size crowd, amazing music, even better vibe, and not to mention lots of great drinks. The bartenders are personable and long time veterans to the Spot so it is a familiar feel no matter how often you do or do not come.

Nice spot in the 3rd ward in Houston. My girl and I were visiting from Atlanta for her birthday. This was a nice pregame spot. Its a older crowd but definitely a vibe you want to experience. Super chill with strong reasonable priced drinks.

We were just driving around looking for a ace to have a drink......stumbled across The Spot and was glad we did....Young Boy behind the bar was cool az hell,, and made great drinks.A Young Lady came in and set up with some Chilli and Rice w/ corn chip and cheese to top it off....yum yum...oh and free of charge.Felt like a BLACK CHEERS up in there, Atmosphere was GREAT, if Im ever in Houston again.... I will be SURE to stop in again....

Cool spot to hangout. Reasonable drink prices. Make sure to checkout, and I hope I get the name right, Claires Chicken. The catfish and fries, chicken wings and waffles and the seafood fries are GREAT!!!! And dont forget about Grandma Made it Pound Cake!

Visiting from Cincinnati and The Spot was the exact place I was looking for to pregame! My double shot was full. Throwback Thursday DJ played music I hadnt heard in years...I loved it! Going back Friday and Saturday!

Ima give it to you straight. This is a hole in the wall located in the 3rd ward of Houston. It packed on the weekend with short wait times for entry. No bag checks, no ID checks, free cover charge, free parking and the drinks are strong and cheap compared to other bars in Houston. It’s a good time and chill vibes every time I go. Its also surrounded by other bars so you can bar hop.

Visiting from Louisiana. My sis n law brought me to this spot and we had a great weekend! Bartender is off the chain! Shes full of energy and kept the crowd Lit! And her drinks were delicious! Good - fun in a safe environment.

Always a good time here! They don’t sell food in the club but there’s always food trucks right outside the club.

There are certain places in any city that are central to community. The Spot is to Third Ward and by extension Houston that place. I dont know that just personally, I know that from the people who have been generous to share. It does not have a pool table, dart board, game machines, bogus jukebox or even cash machine. There is a table for chess. If you got the chops some early afternoon, be my guest. Not me. Not a large place, there is open space and a dj booth so when busy, dance to the bar.

I dont know how they managed to get the perfect combination of professional & hood patrons in one place, but theyve mastered it! My favorite day to go is Sunday (Sunday Funday) although the drinks are the best price & just as strong any other day of the week. Bartenders are friendly & usually pretty good about managing the bar, although it can get kinda crazy when its crowded. If you walk in and theres not much of a crowd, fear not: people are definitely coming! Food is offered (for free & sometimes for purchase) & you can even bring your own! Dont try to bring your own drinks though, they dont play that. The regulars are like a big happy family but the DJ happily welcomes the newbies. Speaking of the DJ, its not the same one every day, they rotate the same few throughout the week, but theyre all great...just depends on what you feel like hearing. The owners are super cool. Its just a fun place to be.

This is the perfect Sunday day place to chill and having a few drinks. This place is small so getting there early is highly recommended. I normally leave before the night time, but if your looking for a day time drinking spot for vibe, this is a good spot to try. Dj always on point.

The vibe in this place is fantastic. It was an atmosphere with no drama and positive vibes. I laughed joked and danced with total strangers. Everyone was friendly bc of the environment and the music! I havent enjoyed myself like I did here in a long time. I absolutely will make this a place I return too.

Great drinks and the fun loving HBCU crowd. This bar is a go to. The music is great. Its a no frills style bar so casual dress is cool. Though I have swung by in a dress after a gala. Still had a good time. Dancing may pop off at any moment in this place. Sunday evenings are a popular.

Clearly this isnt it. Wings half cooked, mac and cheese watery, no taste, margaritas no liquor, fish too salty, burgers no taste and this was around 12 pm. Went early to get a good experience. Told manager and didnt offer any substitute or anything. Nicks Beach bar wayyyy better!!!

If you want to listen to the current and older rap music this is the place to go along with the drinks. The DJ is excellent. The drinks arent diluted with other liquids. They are strong. The inside isnt big but just right to come and have a drink or two.

I went here back in February with a friend who lives here. I was impressed. Yes its hood and I love it. It was good vibes here. They played good southern rap from all across the board. It did take a while to get your drinks due to the crowd. Im from Georgia and we like to order buckets of beer with ice. It seem that they werent use to that here. No complaints tho. I loved it and will return. There were some nice women in here and they were friendly. This didnt appear to be a place where dudes fight at either.

Theres only 1 bartender we let make our drinks. I always forget his name but he light skinned with a full beard. Hes the truth. Very nice atmosphere. Kinda older crowd.

This place had the vibe that I like, but its just too damn small on the inside. The dude at the bar is the truth cause I drank one drink and was feeling myself. I left shortly after that and went to another bar. I started to go back and grab the bartender from the Spot so he could come and bartend at the other bar🤣

It’s a very small spot .. a hole in the wall- so to speak. You can go there for a quick drink before heading out, or make it a pit stop. The drinks are reasonably priced and the vibe is what you make it. Who you’re with makes a big difference as well. The music has been good the few times I have gone. Definitely not somewhere you need to get dressed up for- super laid back...a little hood. The place just make me nervous because of the small size and the whole one way in and one way out situation.

I went during memorial day weekend while visiting my cousin. We went on Friday night. AWESOME drinks, good DJ, and a cool atmosphere. It was a little crowded but everybody was so friendly and courteous. Id go back again.

I personally never have any problems there. Bartenders mellow and busy. But they get 2 u pretty quick. The dj mixes the music so everybody gets to hear songs they like. And they got hooka if thats your thing. Go check em out.

I wouldnt exactly say this place is a lounge. Do they have booths and benches to sit? Yes, however you dont really get the lounge feeling in this particular environment. Its more of a club feel for a younger crowd with very loud music. I would say it is a great place for 21-30 year olds looking to have a great time, just wasnt the atmosphere I was seeking.

Dropped by here after work on a Tuesday when I saw my commute was going to be 90 minutes instead of 40, not even realizing it was a bar (I looked for top rated food;. Oops).This is a bare bones bar with a super friendly, fun crowd and nice, prompt and generous bartenders. Music was loud and fun, with spontaneous dancing, singing by the bar. The Astros game was on and some fans were hanging around watching, some were playing chess while another was making complimentary tacos outside in honor of another patrons (Terry?) birthday. Felt like everyone were regulars, part of a family and the laughter just kept coming. I didnt know anyone, but still had a good time even though I mightve stuck out like a sore thumb. Great place to unwind, hang out and chat after a long day. Recommend for a unique, light experience.

Not a person that likes clubs, but when hub wants to go I accompany sometimes (not many times at all). Kim is the best bartender EVER!! She gets the drinks perfect for hubby and even lite for me since Im not a drinker. She is the reason I give 4 stars.

Small space, dark & crowded.Do NOT use a card. ONLY USE CASH !!! I purchased a drink for $10 & I tipped $10 on top of that so why do I have a charge of $40 on my card??Do not recommend.

No waiting for a drink here. Bartenders are mature and fast fast fast. Music is great and always fun. However finding a parking spot may take you 15 to 30 minutes depending on what time you drop in.

Went there last night with group of 9 people. The good news is we had a good time. The bad news is they have a bartender with a really bad attitude. She ignored me for 15 minutes, but took my husbands drink order quickly. Ok, thats not unheard of. But after he asked for one drink (vodka, patron, cranberry, grenadine), she refused to take the second order (vodka, cranberry) because she told him he needed to ask for both drinks at the same time. Shes making up rules! She had a bad attitude.The worst!

Been fequenting the Spot Lounge & Bar since its ignargrual opening in 2006. Pound-for-pound the best bar in Houston! Owners are nice, the crowd is great, and the drinks are reasonable and damn good! This is the bar where everyone knows your name and youll be glad you came!

This cool Spot right here is the livest places in 3rd ward when I go home to chill. Its almost like being in my livingroom with a whole lot of cool strangers just partying with no problems. You should check this place out, if you want to relax, drink, or just chill. Oh, and the Djs are also off the chain with the music.

Cool little hood spot on Dowling. Great music and drinks always . Just too small and a little Rachet. But its a good spot so what you expect. Come as you are not dress up just casual.

This is my SPOT! I love this ratchett but boouje place. It’s a hole in the wall filled with professional college grads. The drinks are always on point and the DJ never fails.

The Spot is a great place with a fun and laid back atmosphere. The drinks are good and the Dj keeps the party going. You have a choice of inside or outside but either location is great.

Absolutely one of my fav “ hole in the wall” spots , always good chill vibe, good music, drinks I am HOWEVER a bit concerned about the capacity during COVID-19 and i was totally taken aback how nobody had on mask, it was jammed packed , on a Sunday which isnt uncommon but during this time , why is this bar not enforcing social distancing guidelines? It was too many people my friend and i stayed but we just hung out outside across the street to keep our own distance .. it was a nice day out . Just be cautious and use your own judgement if you go

Its a local dive bar, nothing fancy. But the DJ is amazing & they pour a great drink. The reason for 4 stars is because you have to wait sooooooo looooong for a drink.

Its extremely small & congested. Hard to get a drink because so many people are crowded around the bar again because seating is very limited. Parking isnt good either, you have to park on the street, it was time for me to go after I saw a car side swipe 2 vehicles & keep going

This place was not bad but it also was not my scene. If youre from the area you likely will disagree with me but as a visitor getting sized up by almost everyone I pass gets annoying.
