Very lively place. In terms of nightlife, Id say its in the top 3 places in Downtown HB. It seems like there is always something going on at this place even on Weekdays. In fact, I stopped in on a Monday night at around 10pm and there was a band playing inside.As one imagine, the atmosphere is quite upbeat. The prices are about what youd expect for a place like this right downtown. Certainly not a bargain, but nothing outrageous.Overall, this place is worth the visit if you are looking for a good nightlife scene.

For a long time standing local bar (just off the beaten sandy Huntington beach path, but still close enough to feel the cool ocean air on your face) this the place to be. From local bands to broadcasted tunes this is a wonderfully welcoming and friendly watering hole for both locals and visitors. Happy hour specials keep patrons from going broke and drinks are delicious, be advised some bartenders have heavier hands than others, but all are worth generous tipping. Its the perfect spot to celebrate a long time frequent flyer or fade into the shadows, for all are welcome. As a visitor I feel as though the customer service reciprocated what I gave (not based on who I knew or sat with). So if youre 21-101 yrs old and wanting to engldulge yourself in an eclectic environment this is where the festivities begin and end. Celebrating Americas birthday-Im glad I stopped into this local bar and was welcomed like a local.

Best bar on main street. Locals approved.

The 1st night I was there was great the staff was way coolBut make sure you call ahead, I took an uber to be there an hour before their posted hours. I was told they closed early even though there were still people in the bar.Im not dumb, theyre probably bar family, and Im a tourist so I dropped it.However, its probably good practice to call before paying to show up anytime after midnight.Still 5 stars because the bar rules, and staff is great. I should have been sure they were open to the public at the time. It only cost me 5 dollars, but still, call ahead on the weekdays, things get squirrley.

Ive not eaten the food but if its Anything like the drinks, you will be thrilled. This place is fire. Best band, drinks, energy in the area. Karaoke night offers fun and acceptance. Come get you party on with this place

I came here with my friends on a slow Tuesday night, been coming here for years & I got a bone to pick with one of the bartenders. The windows were open and my parents stopped by to say hi and were outside the bar. My dad had a cigar but was not blowing in the window. The bartender aggressively came up to my parents telling them to stop drinking and smoking outside the bar (they were drinking coffee), came inside and aggressively shut both windows mid conversation with my parents. As a manager of a restaurant myself, I would have approached this differently and kindly asked them to step away to smoke. However, I’ve seen plenty people smoke cigarettes outside of this bar and nothing happens. To the bartender who has no manners or proper guest etiquette, I encourage you to learn how to not be rude. Not a super big deal but it rubbed me the wrong way as someone myself whose profession is in the hospitality industry.

Great live band playing 80s and 90s music on a Friday night. My cousin and I stumbled on randomly after grabbing a bite after hearing the live band. Great sound and fun crowd.

We were there for pub crawl and saw a good Social D cover band. Jaye the bartender was a rock star like always.

Fun place to hang our for some drinks and to people watch. Lots of different motorcycles stop here and across the street and they are fun to see.There were also a number of classic cars and even an old guy with his C8 Corvette who kept trying to convince others it was worth admiring. He even bolstered his pitch with a model RC Corvette he would drive around on the sidewalk. Apparently he is a regular.

Could be a killer place, might be for the locals, but... As a non - local, service is uppity, short, semi - rude. No biggie. Great pour which is really what matters, isnt it?

Sunday June 23 , not sure who the band was but damn they could play.

Drinks are reasonably inexpensive so thats good. If you are ever in HB and Gearheart is playing Perqs stop in and support the boys.

Great bands, fun people, and never a cover charge! No in-house food, but you can order from nearby restaurants.

Dont know about food cuz I didnt try any the service and atmosphere are the best there is in Huntington Beach. A great place to get refreshed and have a good time out by the ocean

They always have great bands on weekends, really good bands. Could use another Bartender. Hard to get a Bartender to even look at you to take your order.

Horrible bouncers. Go some place else. They will hit you cause brawls for no reason. Hit woman and will put hands on you. I saw this all with the bald bouncer. And sad it was on different dates. This man should be arrested. The bald white bouncer. He is a violent person. I saw what he did and he was so violent and no regard who was around. The manager and owner are horrible. You should be put out of business.

Visiting the area and had a great time at karaoke. Crowd was a decent age, and did some great tunes. Hosts were friendly, drinks were great and priced well. Overall a great time was had by all! Would have loved some food there. But Del Taco did in a pinch on the way home...

Love watching bands here.Small yet friendly & fun

Great prices, super average environment. If you want the feeling of a towney bar, in an area of tourists, this is your place. Great location close to the beach and walkable area to food and shopping. They do have live music from time to time which is fun. But like any local bar, Im happy the lights are kept low because Im afraid of what I will discover. They do have a fun window/bar opening to the street that is ideal for creepers/people watchers.

Should be called Jerqs :( Rude bartender killed the vibe by yelling at customers about petty things. Music was good but the employees were not. and would not let us use the bathroom 13 minutes before closing and before a painful 45 minute drive home. Each store should strive for 5 stars, bad attitudes reduce customer loyalty. Wont be having a good story to tell, sad.

I liked it. Its a sports bar type place. We were there on a Saturday night and it was a typical bar scene with an older crowd. The drinks were good and we played darts which was cool. I wanted to talk to the people we went with so u wasnt bothered that it was more calm than other places on Main Street.

If you want a chill spot with decent prices, this one is for you! Good for a thirsty afternoon!

Perqs has won my heart. It is the best bar in Huntington Beach. Quaint, quiet, and welcoming during the day. At night the bar transforms into an all out rager with live bands, karaoke, or the jukebox. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. The security doesnt skip a beat. Used to be a cool spot. Im filing an assault case. Im a 58 year old woman two over zealous 20 somethings slammed to the ground because i didnt meet their demographic profile and I questioned them for it. NOT THE HOT SPOT ANYMORE. NO LINE NO COVER. EMPTY DANCE FLOOR ON A SATURDAY NIGHT!!!

Fun dive bar downtown. One of the originals on main street. Bartender was amazing, can not recall her name, but a beautiful Asian woman with long beautiful hair. Drinks proved fairly, live music.seats at the window are the best if you like to people watch like I do.

What an awesome bar. perfect hole in the wall vibe. Easy seating. Friendly bar staff. Good beer. Stopped in for a quick beer with my family. Mellow and relaxing.

Nice place, cool customers and wide variety of beers. All of that in a rich historical atmosphere. Service is friendly. If you dont drink alcohols, you still can have a soft drink and still welcomed there.

This place is truly Huntington Beach. Thankfully there are still dive bars in Huntington as opposed to Newport, Manhattan, Laguna etc. If you are looking for a nice diverse food menu, this is not your place. If, on the other hand, you are in the mood for a non-pretentious cold beer and a chill setting, this is it. Music is normally something from the 80s or 90s and the volume is reasonable, so you can actually sit and talk to people. Imagine that. I noted fewer than normal people on the phones. People talk. Kind of cool. There are darts towards the back. They attract a solid and talented Karoke group on the right night. Parking is street, but beware on Tuesday. The whole street is closed for a farmers market / street fair for most of the day. I believe it starts around 2. if you find a parking spot dont back in; that will get you a ticket on Main street. If you are fortunate enough to get one of the seats at the window, you just secured one of the best people watching places in the area. In foot traffic and the old cars/ custom cars are non stop. Enjoy!

The best dive bar ever. It celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Grungy bar with a small stage on floor level. Good for a drink and chit chat. Slightly stuck people up but your in HB so what do you expect. Beer that was being tapped was not correct to the tap handles. But the bartenders were slightly responsive as it was a late Friday night when the issue was brought to their attention.

Fun place great atmosphere, had a good time this past weekend there. Go check it out.

The general manager of this place is extremely unprofessional and rude. She lets her friends cut the line and does not care that people have been waiting 40+ minutes to get in. She yells and gets into customers faces when shes questioned to why shes allowing her friends cut the line. I felt sorry for the security to have to deal with her attitude. I will never be going back to this place. She gives this place a dirty look.

If I could give it less than 1 start I would but I cant go any lower. This place is the absolute worst bar in Huntington Beach! And, Tim (the so called bartender) is doing a fantastic job securing them in that ranking!I specifically left a zero dollar tip due to terrible service and the fact that he called me a few names that were uncalled for. I log into my bank account a couple days later and see that he added a tip when I specifically didnt.Beware of this place! This is the last place in Huntington Beach you should visit!

*** NO SE HABLA Español *** A group of 4 of us conducted a social experiment where we visited bars as non-English speaking patrons.Imagine yourself, having a full blown conversation in a language other than English, in a predominant white neighborhood, with a great deal of tourist. Ordering beer, finding out the happy hour specials, ordering food, all in a language other than English. What would you expect? well, heres our experiencereview of the bar PERQS!>it gets a TWO Star review **All 4 of us sat at the bar area, after pointing that we wanted 2 blue moons and asking for 2 whisky con Coca-cola our bartender took our order and walked away, only coming to our section if she needed to grab something but not necessarily to acknowledge that we were there or if we needed something.After waiting a while for her to come back to our area, we called out to her and asked about happy hour specials los especiales she straight out did not even tried to make a bit of effort, to even try to understand what we were saying.In a loud tone of voice looking at each one of us with her hands wide open and up in the air she said Somebody translate. Immediately alienated us from the rest of the bar, needed less to say at time she lost her tip.The guy sitting next to me said to her she wants to know the specials; she said okay, so she said them and walked away. This white, blue eye older gentlemen was more willing to interact with us than the bar tender.I would not recommend this place if you did not brought somebody with you that at least spoke some English. The reason Im giving this bar two stars, is because the price of drinks are good. $15 dollars for 4 drinks pretty darn good. But damn talk about alienating people.

Cool dive bar with great local bands. Bartenders were tentative and it seemed like a little bit of an older crown (late twenties to forties) so it was comfortable without all the rifraff.

Sat. night 2-2-2013 couldnt get in as the young doorman seemed to be discriminating against us 50 and above folks. Told us there was a $20 a head charge for us while letting the young hardly dressed ones in free. Left a sour taste in my mind. Lawsuit time maybe around the corner.

Had a blast here. Awesome crowd, great band... Those Guys were fricken great! Definately a good weekend destination, mixed crowd, young and old enjoying themselves

The building, just one of two truly historic buildings left on Main, was built in 1913. In the 1920s, it was a barbershop and billiard parlor. In the 1930s, it was a bar downstairs and a brothel upstairs.

Old school dive (type) bar with live music and typically good people.Since Golden Bears closing in 86, Perqs is now the oldest bat in HB. Its on Main St less than a block from the beach/pier and has live music so not a bad start.

Great tap beer, friendly staff, across from the HB Pier on Main Street. One of the best original landmarks in HB... has been there for years.

5 star bar in downtown HB. If you know it, you know it. If not, come experience. Live music. Friendly folks.
