I had a nice time at the Green Parrot this past weekend. It was definitely one of my favorite bars I visited during my time in Key West. I was very impressed with the live music they had. Most bars will have a singer or guitarist but this was a full on five piece band that played great together. There was trumpets, trombones, and guitars all at once it was amazing! They played when the saints come marching in while making their way around the entire bar and outside the bar.The drinks are good as well. I recommend taking advantage of the free popcorn machine they have towards the back of the bar! What a great idea!
The vibe was right at Green Parrot. The live music was on point and it really felt like this was the spot that kicked off the energy we needed for the night. Everytime I thought I was going to have to wait for a beer someone took care of me right away. A must stop place for the history and atmosphere.
The Green Parrot Bar is the heart of Key West. With its great mix of live music, staff, and drink selection a lot of locals and visitors alike come together. The atmosphere is unmatched, capturing the laid-back essence of Key West, making every visitor feel like a local. Whether youre looking for music, drinks, or the pure vibe, The Green Parrot is a must visit A must-visit in Key west.
Nice old school bar off of Duvall. We enjoyed the live band while snacking on free popcorn. The bartenders were attentive and served great drinks! We were only here for 3 hours but met some pretty cool locals as well as other people on vacation like us. We will definitely come back here the next time we’re in Key West!
Stopped by for a couple beers on a weekday night in Key West on a recommendation from a friend. The live music was groovy! The bar had plenty of activities, from Darts, to pool, to Golden Tee. Just as an FYI, darts and pool were not available while live music was ongoing. All around, the vibe was immaculate, and this will definitely be a repeat bar spot to visit in the future!
We went to the Green Parrot a few years ago with friends. Very old bar in Key West. Good music all the time. And of course, they have a gift shop.
For the Green Parrot Bar, its an awesome place, and I love the staff. The popcorn with our drinks (Crazy Lady)( Green Tea Shots)+ accented our drinks, forever the NO SENIVELING Bar!!!!!!Just that all around, hometown bar feel.
Probably the best bar / atmosphere in all of Key West! So glad we stopped in, it was raining so me & my wife decided to grab a drink & wait for the rain to pass. That turned into 4 hours of a great live reggae music , laughs & meeting some great people! What a vibe the Green Parrot 🦜 is! Shout out to Hunter the bartender who made the night even more memorable! If you don’t try the root beer barrel don’t bother saying you’ve been to the Green Parrot! We will certainly be back!
Our favorite bar in Key West when we visited for our first time last week. We happened to be there for their weekly bingo night and it was a riot! Such a great time and felt like a local there.
Great Bar....Great service...This place has been around in some form since 1890. Its a lively place that just feels comfortable. Bonus..Ernest Hemmingway probably had a beer there a few times...when it was a beer barn back in the day. This is my guess. Not a fact but the thought is cool. Drop by the Green Parrot and have a drink....relax....its worth it.
Always a super fun stop. Since were Monday thru Thursday types the Green Parrot is always our Monday evening stop - BINGO for charity. What could be at having a great time while supporting a good cause in the Keys? The staff has always been really hard working and can fill all the orders at the bar even when the place is full.
Awesome live music and great drink prices. Definitely a vibe and fun crowd!
This was by far our favorite bar while visiting Key West! The live music was top notch and had lots of people dancing — we had so much fun! Very friendly bartenders too and the free popcorn is great. Definitely recommend stopping by!
Green Parrot in Key West is just a laid-back good time. The service is friendly, and the atmosphere is as easy as a Sunday morning. You might find it a bit crowded, but that kinda adds to the charm. It’s not your fancy cocktail place, and that’s okay. The prices are fair for the Keys. So, if you’re up for a casual, no-frills evening with a bit of a crowd, Green Parrot’s got your back. Just roll with it, and you’ll likely have a chill time.
Love this Key West treasure! Great live music and great drinks. We took our own chairs and sat out on the sidewalk to listen to the Beatles tribute band. Really enjoyed it!
Veterans with PTSD, take note: I have had a psychiatric service animal for six years and was told my dog was obviously not a service animal at this location. I do not recommend this place for those seeking a relaxed atmosphere.
Outstanding bartender who went out of his way to make our birthday celebration special! A must stop for excellence drinks and service!
The place was disgustingly filthy and had a rotten beer stench. We ordered four mixed drinks and was charged $70.00, yes $70.00. The Mai Tai was absolutely disgusting and tasted like dirty water. Served stale popcorn. DO NOT RECOMMEND STOPPING HERE WHEN IN KEY WEST!!!!
Do you want food go to the deli across the street. Very friendly staff. Great music. Great selection of beer!
Easily the best bar in the Keys.It has been here for so many years and been serving up live tunes and drinks for decades.Check it out.Where the locals drink and the best live music is played. This is no doubt the place you wish you found, until you find it.... then you become a regular. If you are lucky. If you need any gauge of our feel for this, we brought 25-30 friends for a birthday party here.
Every time we go to Key West, we make a stop here around lunchtime. Good crowd and a relaxing atmosphere.
Their slogan is, “A Sunny Place for Shady People!” I love it. We came down to Key West to celebrate my birthday, which is also on St. Patrick’s Day. This was an awesome saloon to visit on St. Patrick’s Day and was one of my favorite stops while visiting the Duval Street area. They have live music, pool tables, a gift shop, a liquor store next door, dart boards, fun and vibrant bartenders, a neat jukebox and was just an awesome time. Visiting the Green Parrot is a must, even if it’s for one beer you have to check this place out. It’s conveniently located near Duval St. close to other bars, restaurants and shopping opportunities.
Theyre drinks were worth every penny and the service was fast. Unlike a lot of places all over Florida theyre hand pouring like they should
Great local bar!! Definitely a dive bar and great pricing for happy hour. Try the root beer Barrel shots!
If youre a live music fan, add the Green 🦜 Parrot to the top of your list while in KW. Think of a New Orleans style bar in the heart of the Conch Republic. Bottomless boats of free popcorn are the only nibbles offered. On Sunday, be sure to check out one of the Jazz Jam sets or the final Soundcheck set for the weekend. Be sure to go to the back bar and see BZ - one of the best beerslingers on the island and dont forget to tip him generously!
Had to go to Green Parrot! Always have quite a crowd, but bartenders are quick to take care of you. Just one of the bars that have been there forever that you need to visit
This bar is known for its live music on most days/evenings. They present different genres so not a place that caters to one style of music. It is open in the sense of having window areas that are expensive for people to stand and listen/watch the music. They have pool tables and some bar games. Drink prices are on the cheaper side for Key West. Service is good with a rectangular bar area in the middle. Free popcorn is very good.
One of the Key West classics! A must-visit every time youre in town!!
Great open air, neighborhood bar feel with live music. I wish I had a bar like this where I live!
I guess the bar is ok but DO NOT go into the ship shop because you’ll face the NOT friendly faces that will for let you know YOU ARE NOT WELCOME!
This was easily my favorite bar on Key West. Its a locals favorite, and being an honest critic, it is a dive bar, but its the dive bar all other dive bars across the country should aspire to be like. Free Popcorn, great drinks at a fair price, and some of the best live acts that Key West has to offer. This place is always worth a visit.
Not just my favorite bar in Key West, but one of my top 10 nationally! Green Parrot is a reprieve from the crazies on Duval and a sanctuary for the weird and wonderful. Great juke box, but the live music is really what you want to check out. Saw a solid jazz band which was welcome change up from the cover bands that proliferate Key West bars. Easy going staff and regulars to strike conversation with.
Party and party some more. Two nights listening to music and enjoying the eclectic atmosphere. Fair prices great music.
Pop corn is pretty good. Thats the only good served here. It has great music and a local vibe, if thats your cup of tea! My friends love going here, and we take all of our out of town guests. Never disappoints them!
My last stop on the Key West Barmuda challenge after a long day and vacation boozing. It was refreshing after not knowing(because I didn’t read all the flier haha) what I was getting into over at the Half Shell portion of the challenge. Haha . They had a band playing while we were there on a Fri night. Was a great time and bartenders seemed to make sure everyone was constantly taken care of.
This place is a must visit at least for a beer just for the history and vibe. Awesome decor and truly a unique setting. At night the place really comes alive, gets crowded so stop in early or enjoy the live music from the street. The bar tenders are friendly and Id highly recommend Green Parrot to anyone visiting the island.
Just had drinks here, Coldest ladies room on the island... great spot to cool down...lol
Had a nice evening after a 30 year break. The place hasnt changed a bit and thats a great thing. Excellent band playing while we were there. The staff was just as great as I remembered. Well worth a visit when in town!
What a cool place. The drinks are fabulous. The lady bartender makes a fantastic daiquiri! The drinks are a really good size. It has a fun atmosphere an a lot of locals hang here so that tells me its a great place. We didnt get any food. The prices are very reasonable.
Great Key West bar, usually has live music, doesnt serve food, but has lots of popcorn 😀
Walked in there today around noon and took a seat at the bar. I sat there for 10 minutes as two female bartenders discussed their personal problems. Pathetic and comical. I was thirsty for a cold one so I rolled out to another joint down the street.
Great live band. Loved the eclectic collection of memorabilia throughout the bar.
Really cool grungy bar. Come at eight for killer music this place is known for having the best shows in key west. Definitely has the least touristy vibe than all of the other big name bars who probably wish they could get talent as good as the folks that play at the green parrot. If you like dark and stormys they make theirs with Barritts!
Sure wish I would have been able to get a drink. Sat at the bar with cash on the table and 3 others walked up & left with drinks. Bartender never acknowledged our presence. Got free bandentertainment then went to Willie Ts where they were happy to take our drink money.
What a cool place! The Green Parrot is a must see for everyone who comes to Key West! Cheers!
One of my favorite places in Key West great music drinks and food
Had a few drinks while at this bar, and the band playing on new years was incredible! The bar tenders are quick even with a packed house and the bar is a great little local hangout.
Great live music, service from the bartenders and FREE popcorn!!
No food, but free popcorn! No frills historical vibe and eclectic memorabilia everywhere. During music nights, no happy hour prices. But, I think wells were $6, so thats very reasonable.
Been going here for years. My dog is registered service animal. She is much older than when we first started coming (15)and with the added heat we Don’t always have her vest on. That being said we always have id available. Long story short we were asked to leave and had 3 different employees tell us why we weren’t welcome with no real reason behind it. Very uneducated on the matter. Basically their policy is no animals. I’m not totally up on the all the rules as it’s been years since I’ve been through the training myself and I was never ever asked to leave an establishment. Thankfully there are many places that allow even non service dogs so we were able to accommodate. I just want to make anyone in the same situation aware.
Truly enjoyed the Christmas weekend here with live music. My husband and I enjoyed the entertainment and bar service ☺️. This is one of our favorite spots when we visit.. No food here but the drinks and music are all you need!!
The entertainment is amazing! Every set and every band is talented and a blast!
Mere steps away from legendary Cuban burger joint Fritas, Green Parrot is an up and coming music venue that showcases all manner of The Keys’ ever intriguing music scene. Leading the charge is Joe Russo’s own worst nightmare Happy Dog, the premier Grateful Dead revival campaign that pays tribute to their lineage thru an ever inquisitive exploration into what’s possible, packaging it into a production pleasing to ears familiar or fresh. Green Parrot deserves all praise for playing host to these beach blazing innovators. The atmosphere, staff and service will make any diehard live music fan feel right at home. Come hear Uncle John’s Band!! Don’t miss it.
Nice place to cool off and have a drink on hot days
If you dont mind being treated like a 4 year old, this is your place. I dont care how old and entrenched your business is, your clientele should never be treated this poorly. Years ago this was our daily place to visit on our Key West vacations. Their motto needs to be changed to No Disgruntled Bartenders.
Been in here at least 5 or 6 times and every single time the bartenders are SO rude. Every time my boyfriend and I have left after getting our drink, putting it in a plastic cup and feeling like were completely unwelcome. Wont be coming back anymore.
This historical place in Key West provides a cosy environment where you can have a beer with live music. This dive bar is a must go in Key West, I suggest you to visit the souvenir shop as well. Even when the city is not so crowded there you will find every seat taken after 9 p.m. Beers and cocktails for 5-6 $. Minimum charge for credit card $15. Free (although poor) wifi and free pop corn.
We went to dance and still had drinks and they took them half full!! Never will come back and they didnt seem to care.
There is nothing negative to say. This will forever be one of the best bars in the country as far as Im concerned. The live music is top notch, and the vibe is always chill and exactly what you want to feel when youre in Key West. We will forever be customers and some of GPs biggest fans.P.S. When the popcorn machine is up and running…it’s perfection!
Didnt eat here but just had drinks. Even though the place was packed, service was quick! Atmosphere is as would be expected at a Key West bar/restaurant on Dec. 26th!
Laid back nice breeze coming through windows. Good beer on tap.
Get free popcorn and settle in for the afternoon! Great atmosphere. Lots of stuff to look at.
Best music in Key West. We always try to make the sound check. Cold drinks, good service. Great vibe!
Good prices on drinks. Great live music and the vibe is good inside. Free popcorn being made frequently. Great place for a drink, listen to music, and people watch. Definitely would go back.
The location of this place cant be beat -- near the end of scenic US Route 1. Nothing fancy but a large bar with big windows that open to the sidewalk and seating that overflows onto the sidewalk. The patrons tends to be more mature (read: older). Cozy but not too crowded most of the time. Definitely worth stopping in for a few drinks and partaking of some good conversation...or just listening in on the many interesting discussions.
I was told about this place via a local for Halloween. This place was awesome! I think they have free popcorn but they seem to have an abundance of acts that come through. The vibes were great too! The drinks were reasonably priced and the bartenders were having fun while knocking out drinks. 5/5 definitely go here
We didn’t have food however the drinks, service and atmosphere are fabulous. The music was equally as fabulous “Captain Buckles”! I hope they come up to St Louis because I would definitely like to hear them again!
Great music! Cheapest cocktails in KW!
Great bar off busy Duvall St
Three of us visiting, big open are with wrap around bar. Live music in the evening. Friendly service good place to drink and meet other people.
One of a few Key West bars that’s crusty-ish and oldish and lots of fun. This is one of the places you kinda have to go. Has a legit sized bandstand where an actual band (not just a lone guitarist/singer) can play - so actual bands play here. Fun, go now.
Dark and slightly dingy. huge positive was free fresh hot popcorn.
This place has some of the best musical entertainment.!!
Nice, chill hang out off the main strip of Duval Street.
Ok whats not awesome about Green Parrot!!! The best place great music fun atmosphere. Dont miss it!!
Love Green Parrot 🦜 Staff is Wonderful Welcoming And Knows Exactly How To Make You Feel Local. The Popcorn After 4pm Is To Die For While Having A Beer . The Entertainment That Comes To Green Parrot 🦜 Is The Best From All Over Keeping The Party Going All Night !! Highly Recommend Green Parrot 🦜
Really good. The staff where friendly and the popcorn machine provided all of the snacks whilst I was made to feel like a small child on the pool table. Ill definitely go again. The staff were amazing!?!?
10yr resident here. This is the ONLY bar in Key West as far as Im concerned. Best music, best management, best service. It doesnt get better than the Parrot, I promise you that.
Great bar, great staff and music!
I selected 5 stars for food but we didnt really eat here we only had drinks but the drinks and service was great. I had heard to try the root beer barrel shot which I did and it was awesome. Definitely try it if visiting the Green Parrot Bar you will not be disappointed. Please visit and follow 2sweetheartsreview on Instagram for more reviews and pictures.
Amazing bar with an amazing location within walking distance of Duval street. I highly recommend getting a root beer barrel. If you are sensitive to loud music, do not go with live bands playing.
I always go there whenever I make it to to Key West,They have great music and ukulele night is a great time!
Awesome bar with great music. Historic cool place. Check out the memorabilia on the wall - guitars signed by Led Zeppellin band members and The Who. Far cooler stuff than the Hard Rock carries. Fun and a must go to bar while in Key West.
Best bar ever in terms of location, atmosphere, music! It has the honor of being the place where I had my last drink of alcohol!
The best for a late night drink and entertainment
Free popcorn. Bar. We go there everytime we go down. This time we came down just to see the Resolvers.
Great place to grab a drink in Key West.
Went there 2 nights in a row - The music & drinks are both delicious!!! The bartenders are hardworking & patient - especially the beautiful one named Barbie who I am especially grateful for. The place is FUN - thats why it is famous.
Not as good as in prior trips to Key West. OK service. Bartender not real friendly as others. Historically great bar that lost its luster. Good for one beer
Local bar and hangout. No food but they do have a popcorn machine if you need snackage while drinking. Be patient with the bartenders, took them 10 minutes to get to us even though we got seats at the bar. Once we got the first round it was much easier to reorder. Full bar and pool tables.
This is a great place for drinks and live music. It can get very busy. They have cams to check it out. It is a few blocks off of Duval. This is one of our go to places when visiting Key West. Very casual dive bar.
Be careful of the bartenders (Steve) who will kick you out if you don’t tip enough. Any other bar on duval street is a good option. Avoid this at all cost. They will take your money and then kick you out.after going back and specifically ask him for his name I was told Steve. We will be stopping in tomorrow to inform management who “was not available”.
Good timing to be here for Jerrys 80th.. historic spot, definitely worth a visit for the various bits of surrealism and history, scattered across the walls. I can imagine Hemingway sitting at the bar, scratching away on a manuscript or a letter back in the 30s
I can see the charm it offers but definitely not for me. Music the band was playing was like bluegrass and country. Lots of people smoking cigarettes so it was a bit hard to breath there. The popcorn was really good and for the most part the crowd was keeping mostly to themselves. Im sure a lot of people would enjoy this place but it isnt really geared for me and the things I prefer.
