One of a kind! We came on a Monday night to visit from the east coast and loved it. They have a set menu with house specials, we got to taste free cocktails and dinner came with a free salsa lesson followed by live music. The food was delicious and we had excellent service, highly recommend! Plus, they have parking on site.
What a gem of a restaurant! The gentleman working was so kind and friendly and noticeably efficient!! We later learnt his name is Gustavo! Such a nice guy!We had the ham croquettes, beef potato balls, and the pork with garlic seasoning (based on his recommendation). I said to my bf that the pork is or is really close to the best pork Ive ever had!! The flavor and crunch was amazing!! It wasnt greasy or covered in sauce either. Just purely delicious!
Absolutely excellent Cuban food that is authentic, tasty, high quality and delicious. We had arroz con camerones, while not on the menu (pollo is), the owner made it upon our request. It was perfect. We also had Masitas De Puerco, sliced pork with garlic sauce, which came with white rice, black beans and fried plantains and it couldn’t have been better. The owner recommended the papas rellanas with a spicy sauce and we loved them. The service is warm and attentive, the prices are reasonable and the overall experience was great!
Consistently have a blast here. Great music and dancing (except this one time the DJ killed the vibe between band sets). Its small so it always feels full & vibrant. This time, chose two small plates and they were yummy: flavorful shrimp with fresh herbs and tasty stuffed tostones. Very good.
I just stopped by for the end of my birth day. Wanted to spend it with some good music and dancing. I am not good at salsa dancing so I was satisfied with just watching although I tried one song and he quickly learned how bad I was.I went alone and didnt feel out of place. Everyone was preoccupied with their partner so I was able to sit and be in my own space without feeling awkward.I went on a Monday night. The band was phenomenal. They have this every Monday so, I for sure recommend Mondays although Ive never been any other day.The bartender was very attentive even though she was busy. I never felt as if I was bothering her.I didnt try the food but the coffee was good, the rum and coke was well mixed (maybe could have used slightly more rum) and i saw others eating friend plantain chips and such. Looked goodLoved it and will go again.
An absolute hidden gem. You might pass by it quite easily, but you must find this place...i have never had food this authentic and perfectly seasoned and well presented .. I was told the owner was cooking.. you can see feel and taste the passion and devotion to preserving and uplifting the cultural cuisine. Theres also fantastic salsa dance lessons.. with Tony, a charismatic patient thorough teacher at 5 on Sundays salsa village featuring amazing tunes from formidable djs..then the place morphs into a party w dancing and delicious drinks that are made or delivered quick with attentive smiles everywhere... go here EAT!!.. follow the salsa village vibe and have a friendly good time
My first time here and I think it’s a solid spot to learn salsa while getting some really great Cuban dishes.Look to spend about $70-80 per person on table or about $10 just to enter because you’re either gonna eat or going to dance and it’s worth the entrance fee at least. The instructor was cool but the location isn’t too big to see most of the moves he was doing but I followed the people next to me. Definitely a great vibe was awesome people wanting to learn and have fun with salsa dancing. Not to intimidating for beginners at the start but when the beginner lessons are done, than the party really starts.I ordered their Masitas de Puerco & it was probably one of the top Pork dishes I’ve ever had in my life. The appetizer was a great starter too. Customer service was good but keep in mind it gets understandably crowded because of the dancing.Overall I’d definitely come back again to learn more salsa or at least get their food again.
Okay, so when you drive into this strip mall type situation, not far from Hollywood. Its easy to judge this place as a hole in the wall, but I declare it was NOT so!My party which was my Sister, me, and three Girlfriends, reserved our table which was an excellent idea because it gets full quick. It was our first visit, but definitely not our last. The serving staff were attentive, friendly, accomodating, and completely respectful of our time together. The appetitzers came out of the kitchen hot and fresh. We had just enough laughs and conversation to be ready for our meal when everyones hot plate came out of the kitchen. I just want to say the masita de puerco and the oxtail dish. 😋😋😋😋😋There were no complaints by anyone at the table. You know when the silence happens, at table, because the food is delicious, its a WIN!Then at 8:30pm, the Salsa lessons began --- it was so much fun. We had a blast! Then, a live band came up to play and it was wonderful to dance freely and hang with my Girls! If you want a new experience in Los Angeles put this gem on your list. It is definitely a place to take your friends and family to show of the Best of LAs rich cultural diversity. Thanks El Floridita for reminding me of why I love my city!
SO MUCH FUN! Delicious food.. amazing music!! You cannot beat this atmosphere. What a gem of a place!
The food is exceptional and the Salsa music band is simply spectacular. Without a doubt, I recommend this place either to taste authentic Cuban food or to practice salsa steps. My friends and I went exclusively to celebrate a birthday and enjoy the live music on a Saturday night. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and treated with great kindness and respect by all the staff. And, before dinner we received a class to learn how to dance Salsa for free!We paid $55 dollars per person (plus tax and gratuity) and it included the main course, the hors doeuvres, the cost of the live music and the table for the entire evening.I ordered a Rabo Encendido, the best I have eaten in a Cuban restaurant. My friends ordered Churrasco, Ropa Vieja, salmon and chicken and they all were amazed with their dishes. All these dishes came with a side of yellow rice, plantains, and a serving of black beans on a separate plate.I will definitely be back to eat at this restaurant at their regular lunch time and enjoy the rest of the menu.
My review is for a pickup order I made for a large party of 65 people. We were celebrating my husbands 40th birthday party at home with 65 friends and family. We placed an order about two weeks ahead of time for several items (rabo, pollo asado, ropa vieja, Moro, empanadas, etc). Armando was extremely helpful in taking my order, sending me info through email, and making sure the delivery was ready on the day of the party. Everything went smoothly from start to finish! Best of all, the food was absolutely DELICIOUS and all our guests raved about the food for dayssss! We even had enough leftovers for people to pack plates and for us to also eat for several days after the party! I am Cuban from the east coast and am super picky about Cuban food! LA does not have many good Cuban places at all, unfortunately! This has been our go-to spot since we moved here 3 years ago because its legit Cuban food and delicious! Glad we chose them for food for my husbands big celebration!!! You wont be disappointed with the food here!
The food was great. I went during the live event and the seating is tight, but its to clear room for the dance floor. Once the dance lessons are done they create more space between the tables. It was very fun to watch people dance as well as partake in the dancing. The drinks were really good. Its a limited menu during the live event with a set price and a 20% gratuity included on the bill. Make reservations for sure. Enjoy yourselves when you go
Really great place for dancing, the free lesson was super fun! The waiter was nice enough to let us order a la carte off the menu since we weren’t hungry enough to get the prix fixed meal and we really appreciated it.
This is probably spot for salsa dancing in Los Angeles. They constantly have incredible live bands that play all night long. It is a small intimate restaurant/club that plays well to the atmosphere and vibes they provide.I have only eaten here once and everything was delicious I just feel that its quite pricey. I am basing my review more so on the salsa club more so than the food
I LOVE this place. If you want to hear real salsa music this is the place to go! The live band they had on Feb. 3 was great! Our night started with a reservation at 7. It did take a little while for us to have someone stop by for drinks but service got better. We enjoyed the pitcher of mango mojitos and the food was GREAT! Everything was tender and juicy. The place is small but I feel that it adds to the character of the place. Everyone was super friendly and it seemed like we were at a big family reunion. I cant wait to visit again!
Always happy to enjoy this restaurant and music. Food was good and service super good also friendly. Just a suggestion however for when the final bill comes. Print it so that it could be reviewed and perhaps let the customer know we pay the credit card processing sur charge of 3% of the whole bill. If your bill is $850 and you’re paying 3% of the surcharge that’s a lot of money. I realized this when I got home and reviewed the bill in detail. I’d much rather have it go towards tip. 🤷♀️ it was loud and I couldn’t hear or they can can’t hear me but I wanted the bill printed. Otherwise El Floridita is always enjoyable.
Best Cuban food in the country. I travel a lot. Plus, great live music on Monday nights.
Best Cuban food in Los Angeles. Rabo is to die for. Pretty expensive, and theyre a tad slow picking up the phone or completing your order, but its worth the wait.
Gustnavo was our server and he was excellent In attending our needs the food was excellent as well as the services he gave us the food portion ate prefect and the mojito
Tonight was fantastic. This place came highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious and definitely authentic. The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement as we waited for the band. The dance floor stays full of dancers of all levels. The band playing tonight was also on fire signing and performing many classic salsa songs. Everytime I visit LA I will come back to spot for sure.
One of the worst Cuban restaurants in the Los Angeles County! Both chicken and pork dishes ordered were extremely dry and flavourless. The black beans lacked flavour. The pollo croquettes tasted like yucca flour mixed in with a few hair-strand of chicken creating a pile of mush. The oil used to fry the chicken croquettes were old oil which causes a premature dark brown..not golden brown. The entire restaurant and restrooms can utilize a major facelift. The 20 year old carpet looks disgusting and the tables can be a bit larger. Of course, they try to squeeze in as many people for the free salsa lessons. These free salsa lessons are the cause for such high food prices...easily $5.00 more per appetizer/entree than the average Cuban restaurant.
Its a veerryy small venue but the live music is great. It helps to have dinner first so you have somewhere to sit. Drinks are decent. The place is filled with locals/regulars
Its a strip mall experience. But the service is attentive, the food is excellent, and the music is fantastic.
What a fun evening! On nights with a ten-piece Cuban-jazz band, theres a $55 set menu of appetizers and main course. We arrived at 8:30, before almost anyone else was there. Our server, Reuben, was very attentive and brought our drinks promptly. He didnt rush us, so we had a nice long time to relax and chat and enjoy the non-live salsa music. It turned out we couldnt eat the hors doeuvres, as they contained chicken, but the chef made us each a gigantic salad plus created a delicious vegetarian pastry without our even asking. By 10:00 the place was full, some in casual dress, some (women) dressed to kill, in slinky dresses and spiked heels. The music started around 10:00 and soon the dance floor was packed. People partnered with whoever asked them and some dancers were truly fabulous -- dazzling to watch. We also danced a few rounds but, not being dancers, we enjoyed watching even more. Its a small place and the music is VERY loud, so I suggest you bring earplugs. Otherwise, you will have a great night out!
In L.A. on business with my boss and was looking for something unique and this place did not disappoint. The doorman got us in despite not having a reservation and dinner was fantastic.
The food was super good, the server was incredibly kind and friendly, and its just a nice looking place.
One of best ropa viejaIve ever had. If you really want authentic Cuban food, you must come here.
The staff is nice. The restaurant is old and poorly decorated. My family is Cuban and I can tell you the food is not really cuban and very basic cooked. On weekends, they charge 13$ for parking, $55 + tax + 20% tip per person mandatory. The show is OK is you don’t know Salsa or Bachata. It’s not a good value for your money. I regret spending my money there.
Great atmosphere. Went there with my wife yesterday but we were too impressed to go on the dancefloor! Everyone seems to have great time! Will definitely go back.Maybe they should clear most of the tables so there would be more room to dance. But see you soon!
Service was great. Very friendly staff who really try to take care of you. The space itself isnt great as far as the look but if you are looking for good live salsa music and salsa dancing all night this is a great place. Not pretentious and open to all levels of dancers. I would suggest eating elsewhere and then coming here at 830 for the dance lesson or 9pm onwards for the love band. The food isnt worth it really, not horrible but not great.
Great place and great music but I think that for the amount of people they get in the door, they should have either a bigger bar or more bartenders. We went on a Monday night for Salsa night and there was like 4 actors there that night. So cool. We spent about $10/person for the cover and drinks were closer to $10/drink.Bathrooms were decent and they had a lot of seating rooms.
Doesn’t have available food when it clearly opens at noon. We went in at 3 and were faced with many limited options.
Food is very good, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere is intimate. Not very big but music is often the destination, so it is loud. So bring ear plugs but its really fun.
El Floridita was absolutely fabulous!!! I had the salmon and smacked it down like it was going to swim away!!!! Stagg was awesome along with spectacular service. Have been recommending ever since! Will be going again very, very soon!
Very good service. Good food. Nice band a good dance floor. The only problem was that I got charged more than what the bill was and the manager said is for 3.5 credit card fee. No where mentioned that and I was not told until I cought it myself. They returned back the difference. But that was not honest on their side. Could have been a five star experience until the end.
Small dance floor but cant beat the ambiance with an excellent live band!!! They are talented and performance was amazing, its worth it alone. Food was good, had the oxtails. The mojito was tasty - and Im particular as its my drink of choice.
Cant truly review when everytime I want to have dinner here, there are never any tables available. Always sold out. Get referred to go onl8ne and reserve but the link provided on their own site doesnt work and Google has the wrong number listed. For a small restaurant, if they dont have a time limit for seating, they should put one. Very disappointed. And if thet charge cover fees for wrrkend events, etc then thet must be going over their capacity limit of 100.
To start off I moved to LA from NY a couple years ago and everything about this restaurant brings me back. The food is DELICIOUS AND CLEAN. The drinks are so good especially the mojitos. The vibe is WONDERFUL. Depending what day and time you go itll either be fun/packed with dancers ready to dance or fun/peaceful but Latin music will always be playing the background. This is not your average Cuban restaurant, it is intimate, and food is made with love. 5+ stars.
I have to admit that I read pretty skeptical when going, cause I was based on the reviews I read and it actually had quite not good reviews in regards to the dancing space, but, honestly I wasnt disappointed, theres a decent dancing floor space, I mean for being a restaurant; and it seems that they serve food until late or at least they still had appetizers.Cant say anything about that drinks since we only got water, but I can say that prices are average ($4 for a bottled water) ohh, music: they had a band playing and also a dj; the band plays mostly Cuban rithym music and mamboish sounds, but the dj plays the other regular salsa songs and if requested, he plays one bachata, but most likely 100% salsa.I had a good time and were ste definitely coming back to try the food. The ambience is nice and people are really friendly. Most dancers are in their middle age (40s) and late 50s to early 60s and are family or relatives, like they fo in groups to have dinner and dance. I liked it.I do recommend to give it a try. From my point of view I find it is a good place to go and have fun. Oh! Forgot to mention, the parking space is not ideal, yeah, you have to pay for valet ($12 plus tip) or find a parking space whenever available around, and the entrance of not having dinner is $15 per head.
OMG... I went to this place and it is ridiculous, first off they were charging me and my party $50 just to sit down not including food or anything, live music was good but it was only for an hour. if Im paying to sit and have live music i would assume they would have live music all night. On top of that the servers were rude and told me several times that they didnt care if we came back and that I could write a bad review about them because they did not care so here I am as they requested of me to write my experience. I wish I could give them 20 bad reviews because of all the places I have gone out to eat ( and i go out to eat a lot ) this place was really bad they made a celebration that night turn into something bad. but yes I just wanted to let people know that they might turn ugly on you if you dont like how they things are there or ask to many questions.
The music is absolutely incredible but very short sets and a very long intermission especially since they charge a $20 cover plus a $12 valet if you get a table it is $50. When I asked one of the musicians if they were doing another set he seemed offended and put off rather than complimented. perhaps he was surprised that someone was there actually for the music. Not many of the clients seemed interested or clapped. The music is the only worthwhile aspect of this place. The DJ set was club salsa songs that I did not care for but the crowd loved. The decore is very dark . The dancers and the clientele are generally extremely snobbish and rude. Very clicky dance crowd and extremely immature and unwelcomingto newcomers. The food is mediocre and quite overpriced. The bar tender was incompetant and unprofessional with an unwelcoming attitude. Very hard to get reservations and very awkward if you dont have reservations since there is very little standing room . People are there more to show off their outfits and perform than dance and you can easily get hit or stepped on at the dance floor. The atmosphere is a strip club at a mean high school prom. I expected a bit more maturity elegance and grace from an older crowd of salseros.
The best place for real LA style salsa! It’s a safe, small and intimate venue with a live band every Saturday evening. Come and enjoy it!!
I am in love with this place!!! I havent tried their food (yet) so I am only rating the experience I had on taking a chance at salsa nights. Even though the place is very small, the atmosphere is amazing and that music. OMG!!! Loved the Cuban band and dancing to it non-stop, and when they had to take a break, Mickey the DJ did an outstanding job on keeping us dancing. Definitely amazing. I wasnt very happy when I first got there seeing as it was very small and there were only people in tables eating, but now I know it gets cracking at later hours and that made up for everything!!!
Omg!!! The best restaurant ever!!! 🥰 First time trying Cuban food and I love it!!! The live Cuban music is amazing and I feel that transmits the Cuban spirit with the vibe!!! If you want to dance, you can!!! 100% recommendable.
Very authentic and fun atmosphere to learn salsa and the other Latin dancing. The only reason it’s getting four stars and not three is because of the music and the dancing. Apart from that the food was not worth it. Save your self from the bland and basic plates they serve. They can definitely improve in the food department.Eat and drink before arriving, and just enjoy some Latin vibes on the floor.
A little bit pricey. Good live music. Very overcrowded is better to make reservations. Music so loud not stared to the dance floor thats mission impossible to have a conversation is frustrating. Good ambience
This place is extremely lively !!! They have a seven piece live band which plays amazing music. The singer that night was having more fun than the people on the Dance Floor. Even if you dont know how to dance you cant help but get up and move your feet. The food was very good the drinks were amazing and the atmosphere was very festive. Everyone was having the time of their lives
Best Cuban food weve had in Los Angeles. Delicious and fresh. Generous portions. Great options and well priced. Attentive and friendly service. This will be our spot for Cuban cuisine moving forward. So happy to have found and tried. Highly recommend!
I took my wife there for our anniversary. The waiter and busboy were very attentive and really made sure we were taken care of. The food was really good. We had the paella. We ordered paella for two, which was a lot. We ended up taking leftovers home and having it the following morning. The mojitos were probably the best Ive had, ever!Although the dance floor was pretty small, we both had a great time dancing and the live band was awesome!!I would recommend paying for valet parking ($8), as parking is hard to find.
Our family had a wonderful time, great atmosphere. Beautiful dancing and the live band was amazing
Went on a Monday night, had reservations for 9:15pm. They had an amazing live band playing. Great salsa dancers and awesome food. By 9:30pm it was packed. Would definitely come visit again...
If youre going for the salsa dancing... The music is awesome, atmosphere and staff friendly.I traveled to LA specifically to try out the Latin and salsa scene. And some of the leads are welcoming towards new follows (obviously) haha. But, the floor is so small and they dont limit the amount of people. You cant dance its so crowded. You cant even stand and wait for the floor, its so cramped you cant even do that.I think its a waste of a cover charge. For My date and I, I paid 30 to get in.But we couldnt even dance. And the tables crowd onto the floor. So if you do manage to squeeze onto the floor... you will probably be running into, and trying not to get shoved into a metal chair the whole time. It would have been worth it, if there was even enough space to walk in or out.
Place is amazing. I only have it 4 stars because the dance floor is small. It the people are great, if you accidentally bump someone people are friendly and are truly their to dance salsa. Band was great and worth the cover.
If you arent having a dinner on Friday nights events enjoy the dance floor, the bar and order your appetizers (they are delicious) standing or it will be expensive. To have a table you must do reservation and its worthy if you are with fun friends that like to eat and dance while listen to live music shows. Theres a valet parking but you can park for free in the street after 8 pm. THE FOOD IS GREAT!
We went for my daughter’s birthday. However the food was super expensive. We spent almost 1,000.00. I don’t think I will go again.
BEST CUBAN IN LOS ANGELES!!!!Best pork Ive had in my LIFE!! Beautiful people and amazing energy in this place!!! Drinks are pricey but worth it! Best Cadillac margaritas Ive ever had!! Plus it was my moms birthday and thay sang and made it super special for her. Please visit and enjoy.
Wow! I got the tostones rellenos and the flavor was off the charts good. I’m from Dallas and stumbled upon this little gem (I’ll never turn away from trying a Cuban restaurant if I find one) and so happy I did. Wish I was staying longer to try more dishes!
Came around 4 PM. Manager was on the phone told us you can sit anywhere, we wanted to sit inside. But he insisted we sat outside next to heaters. There was absolutely no gas in any of the tanks so we froze outside. Waiter hated his life for some reason. Everything we tried to order he said they didnt have. No bread at a Cuban restaurant, what a disgrace. People that is running this place is running it strait into the ground!!! This place will be our of business soon, what a shame...
Worst place for dancing and eating. Over price for basic food. No space for dancing nor moving to the bar. People just move around as they bump into each other, dont call that dancing. Very dirty. floor has gum, bad service. Made a reservation and confirmed, they lost it but still allowed everyone and many kids inside. This place is a joke.
I didn’t eat here but I’m giving them three stars because I wanted to eat in but they didn’t have a bartender on staff so we weren’t able to order drinks. The drinks were why I chose this restaurant.
4 stsrs only because the place is small, also be ready to pay about $35 per plate, but the servings ate generous and the food is tasty. The live band is awesome, they play salsa and cumbia. The service was near excellent, Gustavo is a really good busboy. I will definitely come back.
The food here is full of flavor and with good size portions. Music sets a great vibe and on Friday night will not find a more low key fun spot for dancing anywhere else in Hollywood.
Good music Good food Good times! So much fun and crowd... but needs to figure out bigger dance floor cause the crowd will take over. Overall its great spot.
This place was amazing!!! The atmosphere was great for lunch. The food that each of us ordered was delicious and there was so much for each order. The server was so kind and great for helping with orders.
Pro:Great live band!I went to salsa, and if youre seeking good, seasoned dancers... This was a perfect place.Con:I was pretty bummed on the size of the dance floor. It wasnt big enough for everyone, so the dancing quality went down. Plus if you werent dancing, you were practically forced to sit on the lap of someone trying to dine there.Next time, I will sadly forgo the experienced older dance scene El Floridjta offers, and will go somewhere I can move around and enjoy dancing. And also avoid the harsh cover for such a small floor.
I love the place! Great food, terrific service and the live bands are amazing. Its a definate hole in the wall and the dance floor is small, but youll have an amazing time. Its not inexpensive because of the live entertainment, so you need to go there ready to spend money because it is NOT cheap, but well worth the money.
What to say about El Flordita. The service is not great. I only order pick up and was going multiple times a week for a while. Ive experienced 3 different cashiers in about 20 visits. The younger guy is always rude and acts like he would rather not be bothered, never smiles and is short in his replies. There is an older guy that seemed to warm up to me after 2 weeks. The other was extremely friendly but sadly he only helped me once. Still I kept going because the food is so good. Well that is when they are not busy. I usually order midday, weekday, dinner for lunch. Delicious, really, really great but then I started ordering Friday and Saturday nights. They tell you 20 minutes but it ends up taking 40 min. Now this happens at another favorite restaurant but they are super friendly and give me something to drink and snack on. This last straw was Friday night. They took 40 more minutes after I got there to bring the food. The young guy was super rude and said I had been there before and should no what to expect. No smile, no offer of anything extra just a crappy attitude that made me wish I never spent money there.
OMG!! anyone who loves to salsa HAS to come here! It doesnt look like much from outside because it looks like a restaurant but it comes alive at night and people here really know how to dance! If youre a beginner and are shy about dancing, the regulars WILL encourage you to dance and teach you the ropes. The place is small and the seats fill up so get there around 10/1030 to grab a decent table. The food smells amazing but I didnt try anything which Ill definitely do next time. Such a great find!!!
I dont know if they were going to have a private party that night, but when we walked in there was absolutely nobody in there. We had to almost walk in to the kitchen to let them know we were there. They told us it was closed because the event was going to start in 20 minutes. We said thats fine we can eat in 20 because we have somewhere else to be. They were so nice they let us stay we ordered, we ate and left. Food was amazing. We ate it all lol. Ropa vieja was the best one Ive had yet. I would definitely go back. But next time Ill try to go back when the event starts. That way I can get the whole experience. Five stars for me.
The setting and music were great but food took about an hour. Appetizer came out 5 min before entre, 50 min after ordering. Then looking at the receipt we got charged $15.00 more on our entre than menu price.
The worst place I have been for salsa! The manager will stop serving your drinks per her own consideration! I can’t believe this girl will act like my mom when I am ubering! Straight out racists
The best Cuban in Hollywood. They could get their billing established more transparently. They have a weird thing where people come to dance between certain hours and the prices change (upcharge). Some people just want to eat the, admittedly, delicious food without confusion. Please keep the options open for people who just want the best Cuban food in LA.Edit: Ive been here a few more times and actually, the dancing aspect is really unique and kinda heartwarming to watch. A nice mix of regulars and people coming in for the first time and learning the steps.-Im still just here for the food, but let them know that youre dining only and they seem to accomodate at the usual prices.
This is one of the best Cuban food by restaurants in L.A. If you are not sure if you would like Cuban dishes then ask yourself this question, do you like onions? If you like onions in your food then this is the place for you. If you sort of like onions in moderation, this might not be for you. The Cuban dishes they serve here are very authentic and that means that they dont skimp on the onions. If you like Cuban food or the thought of dishes that include lots of onions sounds good to you, then what are you waiting for? This is seriously well prepared and amazingly authentic Cuban food and it doesnt get much better than this unless you either go to Cuba or your mother and grandmother are Cuban.
Wow... Is all I got to say for this place. So my boyfriend has heart problems. He fainted right before we were going to get into the place but since he fainted they probably thought he was drunk. I ran and asked for water which is really reasonable. The manager comes out and says he cant go in. Then we explain and her Answer to this was well your friend is wearing shorts to so you cant go in. We asked can we go home and change she said no. So I decided to look on the website there is nowhere in there where it talks about a dress code. So she was just being nasty about it a reasonable human being would at least ask if you were okay. It sad to see the manners they had at this place. Expect to hear from some about this. This was full discrimination.
Have never eat there but looks taste i always go for dancing salsa love the bartenders super friendly
Food was good, but we had a big problem with bill, waiter was drunk and unfortunately they ended up charging us more than we calculated. Music too loud
Partied the whole time there! Fast paced! Friendly down to earth people. If you cant Salsa--- you will learn by the time you leave this place!! They dont mind showing you how to Salsa!! And they make it fun!!! Great music..
Gustavo brought us fabulous food with friendly service to our family. It was our first time trying a Cuban restaurant. We would return and highly recommend!
Came here for a friends birthday party. We had a fixed menu with ropa vieja, camarones en salsa criollo, and pierna de puerco asada for the main. The ropa vieja was slightly overcooked but the puerco and camarones were really delicious. Good bread and fried potato balls. If you plan to go on a Saturday night it gets very busy with the salsa dancing. It can be quite loud and cramped. I was disappointed with the bar selection. Mojitos were too sweet, and they had Paloma listed on their menu but had no grapefruit, juice and didnt have the makings for a dark and stormy drink, or navy grog cocktail. Bartenders were friendly and they had Estrella beer from Spain. Overall still a positive experience and a pretty good place for a birthday celebration.
El Floridita is a well known venue for Latin Dancing to live music in a small intimate setting. Their cuban food is delicious.Night Time parking on busy nights is valet only, $12 as of the time of this review. I usually find street parking two to three blocks away. They serve great drinks and have a self service water cooler.
I was overcharged $84 and it was a bit of a hassle to get my money back, but it was solved. Music was amazing!
My girlfriend and myself are here on Saturday night. The food was amazing and salsa dancing was alot ot fun. We had a Shrimp appetizer that had alot of amazing garlic. Cant wait to eat here again.
Super fun place for salsa dancing but they charge you a $10 cover to get in if you’re not having dinner and the dinner prices are really steep. The food is OK but if you go go for the dancing.
Copeland has a diverse menu for anyone that you really go to at any time of day. A step up fro a diner. I had the huevos rancheros. It was very good. Service got a little slow towards the end, but in their defense it was a busy lunch hour.
Food is a bit overpriced and drinks are definitely overpriced here. Good atmosphere and band show but small dance floor.. interesting crowd
Its My faforite Place to go Salsa Dancing!! The LIVE band on Monday is Amazing..Delicious Cuban food w best Mojitos in town. I have been going there for over 15yrs..Absolutly Love it! Armando know how to make all his customers always feel VIP
Ive been here on Monday nights, Puerto Rican night, and Friday nights. Monday night, without a doubt, is the most popping night if the week here! Live music Mondays and Fridays fill the historic, beautiful restaurant starting at 9 pm. The bar tenders are fantastic and extremely hard working. The only time I have eaten dinner is on Puerto Rican night so the menu was different. The food was packed with flavor and totally worth the cost. So so beautiful and definitely a favorite venue for salsa dancing and having an all out good time!
Fun environment, great live music and salsa dancing. Although the dancefloor space is a bit small and can feel a bit crammed when there are a lot of people dancing.
Its the bomb 💣💥 Im definitely going back again. Next time for the food, music and dance. This last time I just went for the dance and music, and it was lovely, energetic and fun!
I struggled to find great cuban food in LA, but once I found El Floridita I felt like I hit the jackpot! This restaurant makes me feel like Im back in Miami. Service was great, staff super friendly, and the food is spot on. They really go the extra mile with the side sauces like garlic for croquettas and chimichurri not to mention the beans....they are perfectly seasoned. I know its known for the salsa nights, but dont sleep on this place for lunch or dinner.
Not bad. If you have ever been to Cuba you know that the authenticity comes from creating something from nothing.True to the traditional cooking methods combined with local ingredients one can enjoy an authentic Cuban dining experience in an atmosphere that provides an inviting and friendly vibe.
Hours on Google Maps said it was open at 11am on Sunday. We went at 12:15 and were treated with such disrespect by two staff youd think we had come to burn the place down. Couldnt believe such hostility to two friendly people walking in for a nice Cuban lunch.
The menu said jumbo shrimp, when the food come out, the shrimp is regular size. Over all the the service is good, the place is too tight to seat next each other.
I am a frequent customer of El Floridita and I went to dinner on Valentines Day. I have never seen it so dead and people were eating and walking out which is unusual and we were no exception. The owner Armando hired a Latin Jazz band to play and they were terrible and boring. When we called I feel that they were deceptive with information on the band playing for Valentines Day and everyone was expecting Salsa. This night was obviously a utter failure for El Floridita as there were 10 to 15 couple in the restaurant and there were less when we left and the bar was dead. Im thinking that I might stay away because I spent over $200 and felt ripped off. I tried to salvage the night by going to Stevens Steak House for dancing and unfortunately couldnt get in. I shouldnt have to go to another place because the entertainment is bad. I actually want a refund but more importantly this message is to let the owner know how disappointed we are with what was suppose to be a fun night out on a special night. El Floridita is known for having Some of the best Salsa in Los Angeles and the band hired for Valentines Day 2016 was a big miss.
This place always is great with food, their signature mojito, live salsa music, and lots of dancing! A LA legendary Monday night event is worth being late to work the next day!! LOL.
Great food, great music, great energy!
Tables around the dance floor? Please! Serving food after 10 is just useless. Theres so much money wasted by dividing resources in kitchen when the bar was basically flooded. Get a mini beer bar and setup in a corner with the basics beer for easy access and make money $$$$$$
Last night Monday 3/7/16, I was looking for a nice cozy and GOOD salsa place to celebrate my boyfriends new job as an aircraft engineer. So I picked El Floridita bc Ive been there before on a Saturday night which it was crowded too but workable. Well I called earlier and asked for info and it WOULDVE helped if the lady on the phone tells me that is best to make reservations so you can actually seat, eat or TO GET IN THE CLUB. We came all the way from Riverside to found out that the valet did not wanted to park our car because we did not make reservations, to ask the door guy if We could get in. REALLY??? I unfortunately stormed out of the vehicle and talked to the door guy and he said that it was ok to start the line. We waited in line w/no heaters (NOTHING BUT A YOU HAVE TO WAIT) for 30 minutes. When we finally went in the staff attitude was THE WORSE I have seen in my life. The place was OVERPACKED. The live Band (Angelo) was REALLY GOOD. Overall the place needs a bigger and better organization, and DEFINITELY A NEW STAFF CREW. They were trying to clean a table right next to my boyfriend ang they literally pushed him against two big guys and he couldnt move anywhere and they were yelling at him to move BUT HE COULDNT BECAUSE THEY CORNER HIM DUMMIES. I like the theme and music but Armsndo the owner NEEDS TO INVEST IN A NEW LOCATION ASAP. I can help with that.
Your prices are very high on food and drinks, you have a crowd from different countries but your life band only play music from Cuba ,we all Pay high prices on your cover ,but we didnt not enjoyed your entertainment ,for your prices that you changed you sure serve your drinks on real glasses,we will pass the word .
Wow, this place was amazing. They did such a great job at making sure we were all taken care of. I definitely recommend this place. The Cuban food was delicious.
Awesome entertainment and love the food, this is a go to spot for sure! Love it love it love it !!!!!! I would so recommend and the fact that it’s actually pretty cheap is awesome! Did I mention that I got diarrhea 😂😂❤️🥳 But other then the VIOLENT VOMITING AND DIARRHEA I’ll be back soon fo sho! Mmmmm yummy yummy yummy 🤤 LOLLL ROFL
Fun spot to dance and have dinner with friends. It’s a little pricey (~$55 a person not including drinks) but still a fun time
Attended a Puerto Rican event recently & the special food menu was on point. Thank you.
I dont know so much about Cuban cuisine, but I know that the food was good and the worker was friendly. I had Boliche Asado $13.95 and my friend had Ropa Vieja $13.95. The meat was super soft, melting in my mouth. Both dishes are recommended.
Every thing we ate was good,👌music was very good, Now 🤔drinks not enough alcohol though...😞Floridita restaurants needs larger space😲 it is crowded! and the prices for drinks, food, and even the parking needs to come down 👎¡Too spencive!
These are one of those hole in the wall type of places that you dont want other people to know about. The food is ok, but its the atmosphere that sets this place apart. If you want to experience Cuba on the Hollywood tip, I couldnt recommend any other Cuban restaurant.
Celebrated my birthday there. Great atmosphere good food great music We danced the night away had a great night
DO ME A FAVORE AND DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AS WELL AN DO NOT GO IN HEREJust got back from there as I wanted to have a nice social dance..Horrible place to dance, dance floor large as a single bedroom, waiters pushing out of the way every 2 minutes OVERPRICED AF (obviously not worth it)If you were thinking to go there for having a nice social dance you picked up the wrong place.
Every time I go they’re never open 😩😩😩😩. I’ve been trying to go for years. Please update your hours I want to try this place bad. Three stars for my curiosity and desire to eat here.Update:I went about a month ago and let meeee telll youuuuuu :WORTH THE WAIT!!!I have the filete de pollo. Yellow rice black beans and water. So delicious!!!!
Definitely a place to have a great time and dance to great music.
Great food, great music, drinks were ok. However we did have to wait an hour for our food, and it is small so seating feels cramped
The food is excellent. Very quiet at lunch time. It is mostly a nightclub that gets busy in the evening. Live music and dancing.
1st time visiting and looking for a place to eat and found this lil place and the food was amazing
The best time to eat and dance at El Floridita is on rainy days. There is plenty of space, waiters are extra helpful and attentive, and there is no pressure to consume anything.
Ive been looking for authentic Cuban food here in LA for the past 10 years. Being from South Florida, this restaurant is the perfect fit, and the food is awesome! Its the only Cuban restaurant Ill order from.
Had the chicken plate. Chicken fell off the bone. Very nicely cooked. However there is no flavor whatsoever. Very bland. Great espresso
Steal! They charged me over $650 on my credit card friend with out authorization, plus I gave them cash, it was the worse experience ever! If you go, watch what you pay!
I so wanted to love La Floridita. The location is good and the staff was friendly but seemed overly rushed and preoccupied (even though it was lunchtime and there were only three patrons). The meats used on the sandwich Cubano were outstanding and high quality. The sandwich was burned, though, and lacked the crispness that a good Cubano should have.I always order yuca con mojo when I see it on a menu because, when done right, its amazing. However, this dish at La Floridita is def a pass...bland mojo (no shame in using La Lechonera if your house mojo is lacking) + served without onions = not good.
The food and service were amazing, the ropa Vieja tasted very good as well as the mojito. If I visit LA I will definitely stop by again.
The service was terrible the server had a bad actitud since the moment wet got there to sad I dont remember his name or I would put it here, the prices are way to high for food that doesnt taste good and this place is really small to have a dance floor ,bad experience I wont come back and I dont recommend this place that all!!
It was a great atmosphere and the live salsa band was amazing 👏. The service was great!
Very attentive service, food was terrific. The band created a wonderful atmosphere for the dancing.
Food was the worse food I ever hadThe ropa vieja was more la Mexican birriaAlso de lechón tasted just like the Mexican posole,(**Perhaps Mexican cooks** )and 50$ for that omg .... place to small they play salsa most of the time witch it can get boring...I would not recommend this placeAnd no i am not going ever again ...
Nice but small place to dance. The food is expensive but delicious. The food price covers the dancing and live music.
Order the CHICHARRONES DE POLLO CON YUCA FRITA; thats all I gotta say. Best fried chicken Ive eaten in my entire life.
Havent been there in over a decade... hasnt changed much and thats a great thing for me... drink were good and the music even better...
Super great service...delicious Food, Bar...live Awesome music too...my children took me there to celebrate my birthday!!!
Food was great, service was awful even thought we were the only ones in the restaurant at 7pm on a Tuesday. The atmosphere was also not what I was expecting based on the 4 star ratings on here. Ive to several Cuban places around the country and I would not return here.
Super over rated... too expensive, tiny, dance floor, parking is terrible and they cram as many people as possible in at the tables. Not worth it.
Food was too salty, all of our plates. The salmon, the shrimps, the ropa viejas. Not what I was expecting for 55 dollar plate.
This place the food is super expensive I got a bill for $168 dollars for two dinners they also include the tip for the waiter 20% and service was not good and they dont tell you that the tip was included Im not the first person complaining about this place for the same reason thank you
Excellent, Robert at the door was very accommodating and professional. If your ever in LA please visit El Floridita on Monday live music.
Nice small salsa dancing place that had a live band. Unfortunately, they did closed down approximately thirty minutes before 2 am.
I have not been here in ages, Johnny Polanco was playing back then, buy the the food was still awesome and the mojitos were still as good as I remember.
The place had a great vibe and good music. The bar tenders are funny and fast rolling out drinks.
Very nice place to eat , drink and dance .Good enough to enjoy with your Loved.
The cuban food here is truly authentic. Try the mojo sauce. It is good on the garlic chicken but also on the avocado salad. High marks.
It was nicxe but the food iss not really a Cuban food. Also you have to Pay $50.00 for dinner.
Some of the best Cuban food in Los Angeles. Great place for salsa dancing with a live band many nights of the week
Excellent food and service. Went for a birthday party and it was great
Fun for a Cuban style dinner and great salsa live music
Never had the food but Mondays salsa and dancing to a live band.. priceless.
Amazing Cuban food, and the live music is so unique to find in LA. Would highly recommend.
Awesome food...great atmosphere live it. The steak I had was awesome the black beans incredible.
Quaint little restaurant with excellent food and a nice little dance floor to end your night. Was a little intimidated by the professionals but fun is fun
The best Cuban Restaurant in town I always get the black bean and rice live Spanish music great attitude from the staff friendly crowd
Has improved in service sound system and ease of reservation. The food is really the best part of the experience. Try Entraña, Vaca frita.
Love the food with affordable prices .. Great entertainment and dancing. The waiters are great.
Really good food with a home feel service. As a native of Cuba this was really good and reminiscent of food in Vedado, Habana, Cuba. Throughly enjoyed it.
Throughout time El Floridita survives but food and the Mojito is not what it used to be. 🎵 🎶 🎼 Good Latin/ Cuban Music is the only constant.
Great food and dancing! Especially when theres Rueda de Casino.
Really good Cuban food, genuine atmosphere, and the best live salsa band in Los Angeles!
Food was decent. Service was good. Not bad for a local place. ..I would eat there again

The place is always fully packed and prices are ridiculously high. USD$60 for fried chicken!!!!!
The best vibe for Cuban salsa and food I have found, a fun place to just “get lost” in another place for a bit!
