Amazing staff, reception cleanliness and bar service. I had the pleasure to witness Monsieur Periné live at The Belasco with relatively no expectations from a general admission ticket but I was surprised what value it holds for such a small amount of money. I was upgraded to VIP which offers a small bar/dining area with tables and restrooms. It holds the power to enter the venue early (the best perk) skipping ahead of “fast pass” holders which wait outside. Being able to choose from standing two feet away from the artist or grab a seat in the balcony is also a nice bonus. The place is fantastic and roomy, clean restrooms and the atmosphere (at least for my performance) was cheerful and calm. Nobody pushing or shoving, except when the artist decided to walk among fans. It was a lovely night and would definitely return for any upcoming artists of my liking (and others!). The only downside to all this is no parking in the facility. Get an app to book ahead of time or parking near the venue will be $20+
Fabulous small venue with a capacity of 1,200. Its located in the historic district of DTLA. Its architecture is impressive. Opening in 1926, the theater has a rich history and has served as both a house of God and debauchery. The only downside is the parking as it doesnt have its own lot but there are plenty of paid parking lots within walking distance. Average price Id $25, most cash only. Also, there are lots of awesome murals within walking distance which are highly recommended. We did a self-walking toward after a Cypress Hill show and felt completely safe. Dont let the narrative discourage you from exploring downtown.
Fantastic venue! It’s been restored beautifully—the exterior, the lobby, & the stage. If there’s a show or an event here, it’s worth the visit. There are parking lots across the street that are a bit pricier than the ones a block or two away in front of the old Herald Examiner building. The streets are well lit and feel safe to walk to from the venue.
I attended the Little Big concert here on June 15th. While the historic building is very beautiful, there are some issues that need addressing.Firstly, the womens restroom has only four stalls, which inevitably leads to long lines.Additionally, there seems to be a problem with the ventilation inside the venue. It was very hot and stuffy, and I hope the management can resolve this issue soon.On a positive note, the sound quality was excellent, though at times it was a bit too loud, bordering on uncomfortable rather than enjoyable.Parking is available nearby, but on a Saturday evening, expect to pay around $30.Inside the venue, there are two spots where you can get drinks. The hall itself is small, which means you can have a good view of the stage even from the back
Mine and family first time there was fun. Watched WOW. Which was good. But security and event staff need to be on the same page. Buying food and then going back to get it was a joke. Some of the staff Belasco were not properly trained or informed of their duties. WOW staff that I interacted with where great. The place looked nice. Needed more outside seating on top and bottom.
Beautiful old venue that is fully restored with beautiful painted ceilings and intricate detail. It is however an older establishment and not ADA compliant. There is no elevator to reach the balcony seats. We were not told there was a bathroom upstairs in the balcony level inside the sanctuary, would have been helpful to know so we didnt have to go down to the basement level. Super long line as there are only 4 stalls.Balcony was phenomenal and fully worth the price. Super elegant and comfortable with service to your seat. The margaritas were delicious and a good alcohol to mix ratio. We had the nachos and they were pretty great as well. Excellent, unobstructed view of the stage and a very intimate feeling.Very enjoyable concert experience, would definitely return.
Cool gem. The confessional area is great to step out of the loudness and snack/rest. Went to a rock-type concert/show with my toddler and she was being fussy so we stepped out to the confessional and got some juice and popcorn to snack on. She was calm after that and staff is helpful. The bar in the show room/near stage is also good and mixes up some of the best drinks Ive ever had.
Came from 4 hours away to see Amaarae. The show was great until I went to the meet and greet that I paid for. The security agued with me about not having a wristband when I had a valid ticket that I paid for the meet and greet. I was forced to leave the premises and they wouldn’t honor what I paid for. Will never return to this venue due to their rude employees.
No seating. Standing room only unless you get lucky and find a seat at the bar upstairs. But then you cant see the show. As an older person, not my type of venue. Concessions are the usual overpriced items. Does not have its own parking. Parking lots around it are very pricey.
The venue is awesome! Perfect more intimate setting for a show. The food is actually pretty good, especially for a music venue. Bartenders are solid both on the floor and in the lobby. The sound was great and the staff was awesome. A really excellent first experience.
Great venue for intimate shows. Bands have a good sound here but occasionally the mix gets a bit boomy. Drink prices are high, staff is helpful. Parking is nil but there are several paid lots around with attendants. Quickly becoming one of my favorite L.A. venues.
Fantastic venue! Very pleasant staff who handle public very well. Security kept the atmosphere and musicians safe. I went there for a concert. Crowd was very rowdy and fun. Security was everywhere but did not interfere with the atmosphere. Overall, you can tell The Belasco is very organized and staff are well trained (a very nice). Overall a great experience. Five stars 🌟
Lovvvvvvvved this theater. We are avid concert goers and we came to this spot to watch Daniel Caesar who had one of the simplest set ups. No band. The music and his voice the entire time. Worth it. If you’re a die hard fan- go GA TICKETS. I don’t know- depends on the artist but what I know now is I would definitely buy the VIP Balcony seats. It’s intimate, spaces and guarded :)Enjoy the arts. Don’t let a service fee stop you from enjoying your favorite artist and honestly- I go to shows alone, too.We currently have 15 year old twins and their love for music and artistry is admirable and we are the same- so it’s been a joy to have a mutual interest- get into their music and give them a taste of ours :)
Went to a concert there tonight. It was not a great experience. It was really disorganized waiting to get in. Lines were not labeled. Once in the venue it was better. Security was great and bathrooms were clean. Bar did not have cold sodas and it was a bit pricey.
Went to the Belasco for the first time in a few years. Love this venue for live music! Saw a bucket list band, had a great time. Sound wasnt too loud for a metal show, engineered just right for the up close General Admission standing room spots. Easy to go back and forth to the bathroom and concessions.Theres decent food trucks and shops within walking distance.
Great venue for smaller, more intimate shows. Employees either know very little or just do not want to engage in answering questions outside the venue. Do not bother paying for access to the lounge prior to the show if youre hoping to get in early. The doors from the lounge to the main theater do not open until the general doors open.
Attended Bondage Ball Saturday night. New venue. I loved it. Lots of options to walk around. Lots of restrooms. Enjoyed the show as I was able to see from the baloney easily and there was dancing room up there. Great cucumber mocktail. If you want to chat, go to the bar on right as you enter, that is the only place inside that you can hear. Outside, there is a patio. I had VIP tickets that allowed me anywhere. Without it, your options are way limited.
Went here to see Jeff Bernat! Really smooth singer, RnB style. Place is beautiful! And kudos to the security, mid-show they were giving small water bottles away to the people at the front of the stage. My cousin and I purchased the 2nd story personal dining experience. Definitely a great view, if you dont mind dropping a bill. Made the experience worth it!
Won tickets to see Ed Sheeran so that was cool, took us a little while to get into the venue and since it was a private show not much in terms of food and drink. The acoustics were good, beautiful theater and a few parking lots around the building that weren’t too expensive. Wasn’t the nicest neighborhood but good people who put the show on. Triple check the baggage policies, had to put things into a plastic bag.The airflow in there was decent too, didn’t feel too stale or musky which was cool. I would go back to try another show. Might try and sit on the top, that seemed to be the better seats. Obvi show contingent.
The venue was beautiful, one of the classic old school La halls restored. Theres plenty of bar space the bathrooms are clean. The only problem was the sound. I dont know if it was the acoustics or the technology or the person running the soundboard but the music was very muddy.
The staff, security and bartenders are all great! The venue is beautiful. They serve food there so if you want to get a burger, chicken fingers or pretzel/popcorn, you can.The two downsides are the sound system and the venue acoustics on the floor are terrible. Vocals are muddy in every show Ive been to. (Recently Skinny Puppy and KMFDM). Overall its not the best sounding venue. Also, they utilize the balcony for VIP (which is rarely half full). Its a cash grab and a waste of good seats.
Another stunning intimate music venue in Los Angeles. When you walk in theres a big merch table waiting for you to buy your tees, vinyls, cds, or whatever they have. When you walk into the hall itself there are two bars selling your favourite bevvies whether thats beer or cocktails. But then you notice the ornate walls and ceiling, its truly spectacular. The walls have these Gothic style bronze colored decorative panels. There is a multi-tier balcony towering above the stage and a gorgeous domed ceiling above that. Below, in the theatre there isnt a bad spot to stand, you have a perfect view of stage no matter where you are. The capacity is about 1500 so its a nice sized venue. If a band or artist you like is playing here I would highly recommend you go see them. This is a perfect sized room to intimately see some rocking live music.
I was unbelievably disappointed by the show last night March 20th. They way oversold it. Couldnt even hear anything you had to stand in the hallway. It was so much money. I realized it was for charity. The show was not that great as well. I just wish they would not oversell tickets so theres actually room for people to get into the venue not have to stand in the hallway.
I had a very disappointing experience at @belascola this past Friday at the sold out Netflix is a Joke show for And Thats Why We Drink. I ordered drinks only to find out the venue does not accept Tap To Pay or Cash. I had read the Before You Go in the email, and that was not mentioned. I didnt bring a physical card since I took public transit there.Disappointed, I headed to my seat. I had saved up to be able to get a 3rd row isle seat. I got to my seat to find that the seats were folding chairs- that had been zip tied together tightly. My row had some larger guests and I only had half of my seat available. After asking the usher for help, she said they could reseat me- but it would be all the way in the back! So I sat with half my body on my chair, having to adjust all the time which was distracting (since there were no open seat from no shows in my area to go to). My back was bothering me all weekend as a result.I will NOT be recommending shows/performances at the Belasco as a result.Happy to chat with management.
The Belasco is a (mostly) standing room only venue in downtown Los Angeles. The stage is easy to see from any part of the room. There are full service bars with a good selection of beer and prices you can expect.Parking is very limited. Expect to pay $20 to $25 at a private lot. There are plenty of things to do or see near the venue before or after the show. My girl and I like breweries and we had our pick.I had a great time seeing the obscure 80s band Heaven 17. Less than a month later Ill be seeing the Psychedelic Furs.Ill be keeping an eye on the Belasco for shows from now on.
Very long line to get in. We thought we would miss the show even though we got there before scheduled star time. We finally got in 20m after scheduled start. Show start late fortunately. We watched from the balcony and speakers sound quality was terrible. Sound came in high pitch and without clarity. We could not understand a word the artist said or sang.VIP seating area looked nice. Bottle service was very expensive as well.
Amazing place, I love it there. Went to see a Passenger and its such a classy and well run venue. The people are great, the theater is beautiful. As an Audio guy, I really was impressed with how well the music sounded in a theater like that. Id also like to shout out to the bartenders for being really great. Theyre always on their game and very nice to everybody. Great time here.
Great place to watch a concert, great atmosphere this place is basically an old movie theatre converted so you are close to the stage almost anywhere your at,good bar and selection of bears and mixed drinks, also has a patio for smoking whatever lol, only thing is parking and surrounding area is not the best
Im with you I went to go see blind guardian last night and I had a lot of fun this place is really big its small but big the big huge brown sign outside what it was and thats it and theres a great big roll down door they use when they done with the show in the venue for the day
Intimate concert venue with raised stage. Came here to see Blue October and I liked that you had a good view of the band at all angles. There were seats on the second level, as well as on the right side of the pit. There’s a bar area in the back with hard seltzer and beer options. Metered street parking (free after a certain time) or $15 in the lot across the street. Bathrooms are on the right hand side after you enter. The employees who checked your vaccination cards were really nice. You go through security (clear bag policy) afterwards.
Music is exquisite. Place is divine. The food is immaculate. If me using fancy English vocabulary to explain the place isnt good enough to convince you to go there, you are lying.
Nice upstairs venue perfect for small scale shows. Sound of the room vibes really well with the space, really impressed that you dont need a ton of speakers to make the room sound great. Street parking can be found if you get lucky.
This is a beautiful venue located in Downtown LA with lots of nearby pay parking lots to chose from. Plenty of standing space inside for concerts. The sound quality of the room was amazing. There is an upstairs, but it was not accessible for this event. Restrooms were clean and maintained. The entrance lines to the venue were kept organized. Drinks and merch were available for purchase at the entrance. My first time going to a concert and I chose to see Tarja perform with Chaoseum opening the event. Both live performances were amazing and the entire crowd was a having a great time.
I want to give this place a 5, but I think it’ll give it 4 star, instead. The venue is beautiful and amazing. I just didn’t like the light-skinned female at the door. Letting her know that I’m with the artist/team. If may check in. She kept saying “do you need to buy a ticket?” And I kept telling her “NO, IM WITH THE ARTIST/TEAM” I DO NOT NEED TO BUY, WHAT I ALREADY HAVE! Till another security had to got involved and solve a simple issue.Other than that, the Establishment and staff were great. My only suggestion is replace that white lady at the front door. She clearly doesn’t doesn’t understand basic English.
Great, classic venue for any music style. Intimate and beautiful, yet any gig can feel huge in there!
Had a blast at our company X-mas party!!! They have an outside patio, 2 floors and 3 bars that i could visually see, although they allowed more than a few people in and out, I wasnt allowed even if it was just once...i dont appreciate that, I needed to retrieve my phone and thats why im giving them 4 stars so beware of that, i forgot to mention that 1 of the people that were serving us accidentally knocked one of the fuel food burners onto the floor and it burnt the floor and most of the table shall, the can of fuel got real close to me and a few other people, and they had NO FIRE EXTINGUISHER NEAR BY!!!
Genuinely awful time here. People checking IDs were incredibly incompetent and tried to cop my real and legitimate ID (I am old). This took over 25 minutes to resolve. Thankfully, I did not have to call the police to resolve this, but almost having to was really annoying. Once inside the service was bad, bathrooms dirty as hell, and the place was just not run smoothly. The lighting design was also quite lazy with a pretty clear dissociation between the beat of the song and tone. Theres a lot of better venues in the area with better support, and improved sound and lighting design. For concerts, opt for Palladium or Academy any day over this.
Loved seeing one of my favourite band here and the building is stunning. But was very abashed by the organisation of the event. However, the prices for drinks were ridiculous. A beer for triple the price as normal… they are literally making 500% on this. Same for the wine, they server the bottomshelf stuff for exorbitant prices. And then you think they’d serve it with a smile. The girl with the colourful hair definitely looked like her being physically hurt her.The abundance of staff overall was ridiculous, most literally just stood there doing nothing. Especially at the front. So, I’d say, fire 2/3 of the staff and reduce the prices.Btw, the security people especially the girl by the stage was really kind.
Where do I start? I was at the Belasco on New Years Eve 2022, to see the amazing Brooks Nielsen 🥰 Hes way too dreamy!Anywho, its no fault to the venue that it was raining/pouring down on the concert goers as we waited in line for the doors to open. Most fans were completely soaked when they finally were allowed to enter.Because I am disabled, I was able to sit in the disabled section of the venue. Let me say, the seating should have afforded me a wonderful view of the stage and Brooks...and it did up until the concert started (sarcastically). Also, at one point, I had to use the facilities and what in the world, but I was required to use the restroom in the basement of the venue. Uhh, like what in the world!?!? How does that make sense. Disabled seating but no disabled access to restrooms!? Lameeeee!Anyways, eventually the concert starts and Brooks Nielsen knocks it out of the park. Great song choices! I happily nursed my one and only double shot of jack and coke. I had three different incidents with ONE guy. The first incident he knocked the ADA sign off its perch right on to my legs. The second time, he crashed over and pushed the empty seat over towards me, pinching my fingers. The third, he knocked the barrier and the empty folding seat onto me and he landed across my lap. Honestly, it ruined my night. I reported the guy to security and they really were quick to respond to my pleas. He took off after each incident but security caught him on the third. However, he was allowed to stay inside and watch the concert. He just needed to move away from the disabled area 🤦🏽♀️. Throughout the night, folks were able to block the view of myself and the other disabled people. The area was cordoned off with simple retractable belt barriers. Easy to remove and ignore. It was one complaint after another to security. It would have been fine if a security guard was left to help us but that wasnt the case. The poor gent in the wheelchair had some high as hell woman fall on him. It was a mess. Like I said, it ruined it for me. But the time Brooks counted down 5-4-3-2-1 Happy New Years I had my arms crossed and could have given two shites to the whole affair. Do you know who Jeff Dunhams Walter is? If you dont, look him up. His scowling face and arms-crossed-across-his-chest appearance was the look I carried into 2023 🙄🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️By the time the concert was over, I had three different people fall on me. One security guard (the head of security I think) came over to personally apologize. He also explained the future improvements they hoped to implement... changing the ADA area to slightly raised dais/platform to minimize interruptions to our own experience. (They should take notes of the Glass House in Pomona ADA seating.)And the last insult... We were REQUIRED to leave our umbrella at the coat check. Wanna hazard a guess as to what happened to my new umbrella? Yeah, they gave it to someone else. No apology, no refund of the coat check fee. Nada. And if you are wondering why I gave it a 2 star rating? One star for my sons delicious alcoholic drink: Vodka strawberry lemonade *chefs kiss* Second star because I really did appreciate the security officer coming over to apologize.
Concert space itself is good. Merch tables are usually set up right in front so theyre easy to find before and after shows.Down one star for their seemingly non-existent COVID policy. Some staff were wearing mask others were not. Given the number of people in and out of the venue on any given night seems like a poor choice for employees to play russian roulette with covid.~~They also dont apparently take cash at the bar nor can you just tap/nfc to pay. The no cash I understand but not taking tap and pay is a nuisance.~~Update: Bar now takes tap/nfc which is a nice change
Ive been to this venue a couple of times now, and it has a great atmosphere.
Great venue to see one of America’s best rock n’ roll bands - Drive By Truckers!!
Great venue! In my experiences even the backstage area is pretty cool. Very private and secure
Smaller venues are great! Sound was not bad, view was a little obstructed but not a deal breaker. Parking was accessible and not expensive and getting in and out was easy! Overall fun experience!
I came here to visit Hillsong church for the first time since I always listen to Hillsong United. The church was very different then what I am used to but in a good way. I was really impressed by the way the church is played out. The only thing I had a but of a issue with is that if you sit in the second row the people in the row in front of you block you view, other then that I would come back just make it earlier to get a good seat.
The place is nice and spacious, but not spacious enough for a sold-out event. They need to put a limit on the amount of people allowed inside during events. There was absolutely no more standing room, even the lobby area was crowded, and they were still letting people in.
My fiance and I went to The Home Team and Don Broco concert. It was our first time at the venue and we purchased the VIP tickets with the lounge and early access. Juan was our bartender throughout the night and provided extraordinary service, hes probably the best bartender weve ever had in LA. He gave us great recommendations on the food and drinks, including the chicken tender basket we got twice because they were so good. Juan and the other servers created a very welcoming experience. We would love to attend more shows at this venue, thanks for a great time!
Security was on one all I did was wait for someone still inside the building near the exit when she pushes me outside saying i stepped out and i can’t get my shirt signed anymore. lmao what is that
Entry to our event was very disorganized and confusing. We arrived 2 hours early as we flew across the country to see the band that night, and were 3rd in line. Signage on where to stand for the line was confusing. Staff was rude and visibly confused about what they should be doing. As they began letting people in they announced there should be 2 lines for general admission, so our efforts to get early in line went out the window as people waayy behind us in line suddenly were in front of us in a 2nd line and got in ahead of us. Very frustrating. Was 36$ for 1 beer and 1 shot. Venue is nice inside. I wouldnt go back.
Multiple phones were stolen and security didnt really do much. Wouldnt recommend attending
Great sound, and a really nice venue! Cant wait to see another show there
Great show, good sound. Was told by the bartender that they will not serve free tap water to patrons, you must instead buy overpriced “liquid death” canned water. Not only is the irresponsible for a bar that primarily serves alcohol to do, but it is doubly irresponsible for a rock club as people are going to get dehydrated at these shows. Just irresponsible and exploitative. Just fill a jug with tap water and leave it for patrons like every other decent venue in the country.
Simple, but good. Honestly results depend on the show as far as experience goes.
I absolutely love the old, small LA theaters and the Belasco is one of my favorites!
Fun spot for intimate events. Accessible and eclectic. Parking nearby was within walking distance. Food is always available nearby. If you are headed here for some entertainment, I believe you will find it most amenable.
Disabled accommodations are neglected. Nice venue, with good sound, a lovely aesthetic, standing room only, a bar, snacks, concerts, artists’ merchandise, and a cute patio IF YOU AREN’T DISABLED. The band was amazing, but the venue ruined the night. Very little employee awareness, signage is poor (if exists) and navigation in/out of the disabled seating area is difficult. (Disabled access to the seating area is inaccessible most of the night??)Seating: You WILL have to navigate through dense crowds of the oblivious, in a loud concert environment, in complete darkness, with no help, to get to the disabled seating area in the corner, or to get out of it. Solid bodies surround you, no marked aisle, no door, you are stuck That’s not accessible.Even at a relatively calm evening, guests MAY be rude and confrontational taking the very few chairs that are in the disabled seating area for their use outside of it or push your Caregiver/companion out when there are no chairs. So, you sit alone in your wheelchair at the back of the disabled seating area the whole concert and you can’t get out of disabled jail. I rarely am put in a situation where helplessness is enforced on the disabled! The employee at the front of the disabled seating area doesnt get involved. You MAY finally get to be together with your companion out on the patio, but you will miss the concert The sound of there is just unintelligible noise.Lines: You WILL wait at the back and navigate every line, even if you ask where to go, without regard for your disability unless an employee who knows what to do randomly plucks you up from the line. Enjoy “zipping” through the hour-long, cramped ropes course at the merchandise counter (if your wheelchair battery doesn’t die). It narrowly winds back on itself several times and then vines out, crossing guest traffic, filling the lobby, and spilling 100’ into the bar most of the night.I couldn’t see a way to get to the 2nd floor. But, its an old building and I was too busy dealing with the challenges downstairs anyway. All that being said…Belasco, You need better awareness, availability, and visibility of your disabled accommodations.1. Large clear signage at the front door (I didn’t see it) and in the line for a disabled entrance. Including a large print, well-placed sign at a break near the beginning of the ropes. $5 engraved plastic or even laminated paper sign.2. The disabled seating area is difficult to see past abled people to the left. Nonetheless, the door at the front of the disabled seating area (with adequate signage) should be used as suitable access to the disabled seating area. Existing black curtains/canopy outside the door can be used for light stage control if needed. Better directional signs through the lobby, bar, and outside hallway to the disabled seating area. $20 3-4 signs3. That door is already manned with an employee who could be sub tasked to assist the disabled with any access or seating issues while maintaining their current duties. $0Optional: Better barrier on back and side of disabled seating area Short, solid, movable curtain or partition to create a better physical limit and less access by those who do not require special assistance.3. A speaker, that would not violate noise ordinances placed on the patio. The music should at least be heard clearly, if not loudly. This would also accommodate those with sensory issues. $500?4. Employee Training: A video or booklet that wouldn’t take more than 1hr to complete? They don’t even notice or know what to do when a wheeled person is trying to get their attention. Please, if you haven’t, establish a few internal procedures to assist in these areas.
Had a great time listening Mathame live. Love the venue, staff very friendly. Definitely recommend it.
Give the Sound Engineer a raise. By far the best venue with perfect sound. The Belasco is a beautiful venue and you can be anywhere and you can have a perfect view of the stage. Parking was not hard to find. One of the best experiences Ive had at a DTLA venue.
Went to the Belasco last night for a show. Doors had just opened so I decided to grab a drink. There was barely anyone at the center bar. The chick serving me “swiped my card to hard that she apparently didn’t see where it landed.” She thought I wasn’t paying attention in the direction I seen her fling it. She “looked for it with no luck I stayed there and told her to check behind the ice tray and several other spots as I was also looking over the counter and flashing my phones flashlight. After a few minutes of looking for it she said she couldn’t find it. She told me to swing by coat check at the end of the night to see if she had found it and turned it in like it was no big deal. I went to the front called my bank to cancel the card, and also asked to speak to the manager of the venue so they could check the cameras. By the expression on the managers face she was not happy and had probably already had this issue in the past. The card was immediately found when they checked the cameras in no time and guess where it was found behind the ice tray where I told her to look and she said it wasn’t there. It’s such a shame that this venue has dishonest people working in there because it felt like the bartenders in that part of the bar knew what was going on amongst them. Watch them when you pay for your drinks so this unfortunate incident doesn’t happen to you. The manager was very nice and quick to do her job by checking the cameras so I thank her for that.
I dont know when they started taking physical debit or credit cards, it doesnt say anything about it on their website just that they take cash which is a lie. Tried purchasing two beers and my card declined, moved funds to said card and tried using Google Pay only to be told they need the physical card itself. Save us the embarrassment and put on a note in front of the cashier and on your website. I couldnt get me and my friends drinks because of this. Every other venue in DTLA lets you use GPay or Apple Pay.
Its a smaller theater so seeing a band there is great because theres not a bad spot in the house. Lots across the street were $25 but they probably fill up soon. The drinks were strong but $$$. Staff was good.
Used to be ok before it became a Ticketmaster venue. Now the prices of any tickets go up and down based on some algorythm. So the show you planed to go last night when tickets were $12 is now $35 when you go to buy a ticket. Drinks are super expensive-- $15+ for a well drink in a cheap, tiny plastic cup. Parking will cost you a fortune. Party somewhere else in LA if you have a choice.
Went to concert there. The venue was OK. Bathrooms are downstairs, and I saw 2 people stumble a bit, likely from the drinks. Good volume, standing room only, expensive for such a short concert. Also, there were drinks all over floor, and Noone stayed for DJ afterwards, so no dancing.
Came to this venue for a HEIZE concert, and the venue was nice, but they had so many technical difficulties that Heize cried on stage because she couldnt go on with her performances! It was a really poor way to start out her tour, but she did amazing regardless and even went without music or her earpieces to sing to us so we wouldnt just be standing around listening to nothing.
Great intimate venue. The sound quality was great, the bartenders were very attentive and we had a great time. They were also really big on security and it felt very safe.
The party was great but some people were too annoying! They just didn’t let me dance. The security guard saw but didn’t do anything.
From the moment you walk in you know this is going to be an awesome experience. Private bar. The Ambiance is like a n old gothic church. The staff is the very best. Highly recommend going here for a show
I love coming to the belasco, the staff is always helpful, works with ada, and pretty quick to jump on stuff. Been many a time and last night was no different with the last of 4 shows ever for Skinny Puppy in a row at the belasco! Cant wait for the next show to go back.
A really great venue with helpful, personable staff! We all had to pass through security scans and a metal detector, but that and the whole entry process was pretty easy. There is a coat check (worth the $5), unobtrusive security, and a very chill smoking patio. You do not need to have cash on-hand for anything, as coat check and the bars accept debit/credit -- just not Apple Pay, at least not as of my visit. The upper level ballroom is not necessarily ADA-accessible, afaik, but there is definitely ADA seating on the main level. Sound is also better downstairs, although it isnt exactly bad upstairs either. And its an absolutely gorgeous, historic space both indoors and out.Water cost $5 + whatever tip you may wish to add, which hurt my sensibilities a bit ... but in the end I considered it a tithe for needing to ask multiple people for directions to the patio. (The door is marked with signs at adult eye level -- Im just kinda dumb sometimes!)Overall 10/10, would attend a show here again ✔
Awesome Venue!!! Good size but still felt intimate. They take fantastic care of ADA too! Security was awesome too! Great night I will never forget!!!
Very nice theaterlove the art deco and had a great time
Great venue. VIP upgrade seating at the balcony. Be advised unless you purchase the front/lowest row the subsequent rows may have limited view if/when the front row attendees stand.
This was a very cool place.. very laid back I would definitely attend another event here
Beautiful venue. Had a great outdoor patio. GA is standing only so if you want seating do upgrade.
Definitely the best venue that I have ever attended a concert in. The architecture is absolutely stunning. It is such an interesting place, so spacious and the sound was awesome. Plenty of seating upstairs, and bands in the basement as well. I was very impressed with the staff as well.
This is a great place for gigs... Small enough to be close to the band but large enough to accommodate enough people to attract good, upcoming bands. There is a bar in the mosh pit. What more needs to be said ?Returned to see The Mission and a couple of other bands. Another great gig and still a great venue.Note that there is (almost) no seating for gigs. Wear comfortable shoes. The balcony has a seated area but they charge a large premium for those and so most people on the balcony were also standing. It was slightly quieter up there but the venue is small enough that you could still see and hear just as well.Along with the Hollywood Bowl, but for different reasons, my favorite rock venue.
Drinks were overpriced, they didnt give water bottles lol they gave cups of water.. Im sorry sold cups of water. 90% ice in the liquor drinks to give an look of being filled correctly.. and almost every band that appeared had the vocals either way to high or to low.. no consistency or even in between.
Drinks were Way over priced $22 for one drink made Jack Daniels. It was good but not that great . Lighting at the bar was terrible and they cant give you splash of anything because their bar isnt equipped with a fountain gun. In short the bar was a disappointment and the service from the bar keep was like he didnt even want to be there. The bathroom menus restroom was clean enough and never really crowded I didnt have to wait in a line .again lighting was poor. The event was the only thing that paid off the sound was pretty good for all the performers kudos to the sound tech. I like how the tight space allowed for a really close an intimate relationship between audiences and performers but personally I need room to dance and it was too tight for that.Parking LOOK OUT if you can park on the street do it Nothing beats free. Prices were $25 OUCH! Although this might have been due to the film crew taking up other cheaper parking. Looking back at last night I feel had this event been at the Teragram Ballroom It could have enhanced the vibe and been just as intimate perhaps with a few more artists or if the the Monty Bar could handle 300 people plus a section for performance that would have topped this location for the event. In short not that big a fan of this joint.
Such a beautiful theater. Been here like 4x for some concerts and enjoy the way its arranged because alot of it is GA so you can see the band from up top as opposed to being seated. However the drinks are ridiculously expensive. I bought 2 beers and it was $40bucks. I always have some drinks before but next time I wont even buy one drink sooooo pricey
Great venue, the ambience of this place was definitely classic, dark and open. Staff was great. The show started on time and ended with a bang! Definitely would come back.
I just lost my phone here on Sunday, when trying to look for it I was told to leave immediately and was told theyd by the team theyd look for my phone. None of them did, they just stood there in a group talking then asked me to leave after 5 mins, I live in San Diego and it was a brand new iPhone 14, I told them this and they still told me to leave, they didnt even make an effort to check for me, just told me to call the next day, well Ive been calling for 3 days and nobodys picked up. Will be coming up there to look for my phone because I have a tracker saying its there. Just ridiculous nobody has gotten back to me.
Well ventilated, clean bathrooms, large first floor space, the layered balcony section had cushioned bench seating and table service with a menu for drinks, appetizers and entrees. I like this venue. I look forward to coming to more events here. There is also a decent sized smoking patio
Easy to get to, I parked across the street for parking for $30.00. Not from LA so did not feel comfortable parking far as I was alone and being a female I felt it was safer to do. It was a very lit up parking area so felt safe to walk back and forth alone to my car and venue. Nice venue!
Great venue. Good sound and wonderful employees, but a bit hot (on the balcony it’s better) and 18$ for a cider is too much
This is maybe the worst live music venue in Los Angeles. The balcony is reserved for table service only, making the downstairs GA area over crowded to the point of being uncomfortable. Unless you are right up front you will struggle to see or hear anything the entire show. Maybe the worst sound I’ve ever heard at a concert venue. Super muffled and quiet. Would never return to this theater again.
From the general standing area (no seating on the main floor) the stage was visible. (Of course, height matters in these situations, so shorter viewers had to work harder to find considerate taller folks to stand behind!) The Belasco staff was courteous & professional. Seats are available in the balcony (for an additional price, I think. ) Nice intimate venue.
Beautiful venue, very clean with excellent staff. My two small complaints was that the number of speakers and the volume of the music wasnt quite loud enough for the number of people at the show. I could easily hear anyone around me talking and the noise of the crowd was present with every song. Second complaint was that my one PBR was $16, that seems awfully high even by concert venue in LA standards. Otherwise, it was a great venue.
Probably best venue in LA. Crowd was great. I was there for the July 1 rave. It was the best afterparty for sure. Security was really nice as well.
Amazing old theater in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. Parking lot next to building makes for easy in and out. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Not at all what I was expecting. I am already looking into more shows at The Belasco to attend simply because it was so unique and enjoyable. Good job to all the staff. It was my sons first concert (Gov Mule) and it was absolutely amazing.
The good: clean venue, show was awesome, good acoustics, plenty of reasonable parking and dining nearbyThe bad: we bought VIP Meet and Greet tickets that came with general admission; poor management got us into the experience late and despite paying much more for tickets, we didnt really get a great spot for the concert.
Beautiful venue. The quality of what you see here will obviously depend on whats on, but the place is great
Awesome venue, smaller area makes for very intimate shows, not a bad spot in the house. Love the decor and the theme
I LOVE this venue! Ive been here twice now, and I have no complaints. The upper room is beautiful, the bathrooms are very clean and easily accessible. There is a really pretty design on the dome-shaped ceiling, and everything is great. They also have a basement that they use for shows, and it is SO COOL!! Sweat was literally dripping from the ceiling. So cool!! Love this place!
I went to the Belasco on a completely different reason than one would normally go. We were there last Thu on a TV shoot. But, it was a great place for us to have Background Holding, and Catering. Although, I couldnt believe how absolutely freezing it was inside there. Probably, because all the doors were open, and it was a very cold, overcast and rainy day and night.
I went to see a show She past away. The place is ok. I feel like the restroom are in the wrong location but well that is part of the building. Security was super nice they even offered the crow watter bottles. One thing that I didnt like was the alcohol, well I guess is pretty common but the over price was tio much. $27 for a paloma! If you go to an event there Pre-game!
Gorgeous little venue. Decent acoustics.
Went here for Blue October. Cozy concert hall. I took a seat in the VIP balcony, its definitely worth it. I did not have to try the snacks here, but I saw that the prices were adequate. However parking was expensive...I will definitely come back here again to see my favorite music band!
This place is gorgeous with all the amenities of a concert hall youd expect and it even has VIP seating area. Small enough to feel intimate and large enough to not feel crowded!
Worst venue in LA solely because of security. Don’t try to wear any jewelry here or they’ll say “its a weapon” and won’t let you come in with in. I’m talking about a simple chain and this happened twice, mostly because I didn’t realize I was accidentally returning to that venue. Venues go under all the time from security with a superiority complex treating their customers like prisoners. It’s a beautiful place, really hoping they make the necessary changes. Getting a better sound guy couldn’t hurt either.
Love this place for shows. Its a great venue and the staff are awesome.
Being born from SoCal, by default, everything around the downtown LA area is overpriced, overrated, and overpopulated to the point where any activity that isnt interrupted by annoying influencers, eccentric homeless individuals, or outright rude tourists is a miracle to experience. That said, The Belasco is one of the most beautifully decorated venues big enough to hold an amazing event yet intimately sized to soak in the experience from anywhere in the building. Front row, way back, and uptop, all of the views are great from my experience. Saw many bands in the past and recently was The Black Dahlia Murder. Those Detroit bois put on a brutal show from start to finish. Absolute blast! Its experiences like this that help me forget my troubles for a bit and remove any peeves I have towards Los Angeles including the parking. Hope to see another great band in the future Belasco!
The venue is intimate and gorgeous and located in the heart of downtown with lots of places to eat and park nearby. I REALLY disliked the guy upselling people in line for early entry though. 20 bucks a person to get in when doors are already scheduled to open. 40 bucks for early entry. Felt scummy...were all already feeling the inflation in our wallets.Regardless, Tigers Jaw and mewithoutyou put on a killer show and had we had a great night.
Dope spot. Easy bathroom access which is always nice. Open space where you can move from front to back depending on what kind of show your at. Never have to wait long to get drinks.
Excellent place to see a concert staff was friendly 👌 and there is a patio you can relax drink and 🚬 I recommend this place 😀
Horrible venue, clear bag policy, sound was awful, they charge extra for seats of any kind. Btw Parking is half as much two blocks north. LiveNation pretty much made this a complete mistake for anyone wanting to see a performance. I wouldn’t return here even if gifted tickets for my favorite band. The interior has been renovated but still looks like it’s covered with grime and half painted. Bathrooms entirely inadequate for the crowd.
Nice old landmark theater conveniently located downtown. Event staff were courteous and helpful. Although they appear to keep the fire doors locked from the inside, so when you read about one of those disasters where club or concert goers die trapped like caged animals from smoke inhalation, this is the kind of place that happens in.
They paid to remove my review, so Im reposting it. Consider filing a lawsuit against this place if it happens to you. Years ago, when I was here, the security guard accused me of being drunk. I was sober and had just arrived. They told me to go get some tacos and come back when Im sober. I did, but they refused to let me back in or give me my money back. When I insulted the security guard, 6 guys grabbed me and took me to the back room. The Asian security guard was waving a gun around and making threats. You might go here and have a good time, but the security is not safe if they decide to target you. Just look at the other one-star reviews. The owner should have criminal charges filed against him. One day they will mess with the wrong guy, and they cant get away with it forever. Ill keep reposting this every time they pay to remove it.
I had so much fun performing at this venue. The staff are incredibly kind and its very spacious backstage. Its one of the most historic venues in the country. Lots of major label artist put on concerts here. I will definitely plan on stopping here next time I go on tour!
Very nice little neighborhood venu.Simple and down to earth if not afforable way to enjoy a live show which I Know has been very expensive. I remember paying about 12.50 a ticket and maybe $35 more for the program and tee
Beautiful venue! Enjoyed the multiple rooms and balcony view of the stage. Good PA system. Yamaha CL5 soundboard in front of house. Only gripe I have is the beer is a bit expensive ($18 for a tall can).
They play games with your money through the box office. There ought to be a law
As someone who regularly works gigs in the nightlife scene, this has been the worst venue I’ve ever been to in LA. Horribly managed and the staff was horrible too , I heard multiple people complaining about how rude they were. DONT book them as a venue they will not help you put on a good show or create a safe environment. They also won’t pour anyone water , even the workers have to pay 13$ for a bottle of water
The Belasco is nice and cozy. Big enough to fit a good crowd but not where you feel lost. They have a balcony l. The security and staff are great. Great location. Spacious bathrooms. Nice courtyard!
Absolutely, breathtakingly, beautiful. The detail is amazing!! It was the perfect atmosphere for the Old Gods of Appalachia Live tour.
It was over crowded and the drink server gave me little to no alcohol in the over priced drinks we paid for. On top of the bad drinks I asked for the remainder of the red bull and she said she was gonna have to charge me 4 more dollars for it! I will never be returning for any concerts here. That was very bad. Im just glad my friend enjoyed the surprise concert
Great venue which allowed for a better concert experience. The sound, lighting and staff combine to make the Belasco a great place to catch a show. Ive been to a number of places, and wouldnt hesitate to come back.
Whoa what more as a New York City dude— originally from Southern California— need for a spectacular winter holiday, then to zip on down to downtown Los Angeles, and see one of the all-time great punk band of all times social distortion at one of the most awesome and classic theaters at all times the Belasco!!! Super stoked— we’ll be back!!!
Sound quality was rather poor during my last visit. Cleanliness seems to have gone downhill a bit too. Menu was disappointing. Friendly staff
Really enjoyed seeing a show here. I was a bit surprised by the size of beer we had (HUGE) but it did the trick for the whole show. Lots of room for standing and good sound.
