Loved this venue! The Louisville Palace is a hidden gem in the heart of downtown Louisville, KY. As soon as you walk in your senses are enveloped with artistic reverence. From ceiling to floor, there is artwork, wood carvings and statues resembling that of the Spanish Baroque period. The most interesting pieces were featured on the ceiling of the great hall, where 139 sculpted faces of historical figures reside. This place is nothing short of magical! If you have an opportunity to see a show here, I highly suggest you do so, as it is guaranteed to be an experience you wont soon forget!
We went to the Louisville Palace recently to watch a show. The outside of the building does not do the inside architecture justice. It was absolutely stunning, and the details of every inch was breathtaking. You could walk around for hours just looking at the building and still not be able to take everything in. However, we sat in the balcony and it was very hot. The family in front of us was complaining and the mother went to ask about the air. Apparently, they were in the process of “upgrading” the AC. Great experience but hopefully that issue is resolved soon.
Great venue, comfortable seats easy in and out. Plenty of room for parking. Lots of places to grab some food. We will be back! Jerry Seinfeld was hilarious he did a very clean show with minimal swear words! Always wondered what he would be like in person. He did not disappoint! Only issue was trying to get a drink from the bar. There were only 6 people in front of us and for whatever reason it took 15 minutes to get served. Other than that was a sweet night.
We went to see the ballet, Swan Lake, recently at The Louisville Palace. It was an awesome show! I enjoy going to the Louisville Palace to see the beautiful architecture. We had great service. I wish they would update their seats though. It was a little uncomfortable sitting for so long.Otherwise great experience overall!
WOW, is this place beautiful - a veritable feast for the eyes (and ears, once your show starts!) This masterpiece of a building is abundant with coves and figures that keep your head on a swivel as you take it all in... all the way up to the midnight sky painted ceiling, whose deep blue hue adds such an ethereal quality that even the stage lights seem to be reaching toward heaven. The sound in the theater is equally amazing - you can actually SEE how great the acoustics are, and Im sure Im not the first (or last) person who wished they could be there alone just to try em out. Theres not one bad seat in the house, either, so dont miss that bucket-list show just because you cant be right down front. You could throw a Frisbee from any of the 2,800 seats without it getting wobbly before reaching the stage. But leave your frisbee at home, buy those tickets, and enjoy your show in this gem of a venue. Youll be talking about it for years to come!
I attended a concert, the sound was on point, the seats were very comfortable with plenty of leg room, I sat in the very front section of the balcony (loge), the staff was very friendly, the bathrooms were clean, parking about less than one block away was only $15 and a will it garage,.... The palace is absolutely stunning to look at, every square Inch of detail is decorative and ornate, you will find yourself just looking around 360° to try and take it all in., go to the Balcony and look down, inside the concert hall. There are too many details to describe, so many statues and focal points of ornate detail
Comedy act was hilarious! But the building is absolutely breathtaking. Outside doesn’t do the inside justice at all. What a beautiful building. Will totally be going back to see acts.
I coincidently moved in just a couple of doors down from my All-time favorite venue for any show, concert, movie or tour. The place speaks for itself. It is stunning on the inside and out. If you come to Louisville Kentucky you MUST come here for some entertainment. One way or another find an event here or time to tour it. You will not regret it! Oh and if youre going to watch a band you should notice the acoustics are great in this place!
We went to see a concert I have been waiting to see for months and we left early because it was miserably hot in our seats! Thought it was because we were close to the top but my friends who had floor seats were out in the auditorium because it was too hot for them also. We complained and they told us because it was an old building- it’s 2024 - update the a/c! I absolutely love the palace! It’s a great place for a concert with not a bad seat in the house! But sadly I will not be returning until they resolve this issue!
BE PREPARED FOR SECURITY....ladies clutch bag or smaller...umbrellas have to be left at the door & collected after the show..AT Least for this show, those were the rules.... Amazing workmanship with this place. The acoustics arent bad...arent great...but not bad. Was near the back in orchestra row bb... for Danielle Ponder (opening) who was AMAZING... & Leon Bridges Headliner....A TRUE PERFORMER... MUCH RESPECT!!! For this show merchandise tables set up in ideal locations....For drinks be prepared for a line...regardless & lack of options with Ballpark prices...NO CASH >>Card only option
We have been to Louisville Palace several times to bring the grand kids to see stuff. This last time was Encanto sing along. It was awesome!! My grand daughter loved it! I was definitely shocked there wasn’t more items to purchase. Only shirts. No light up items except for a cup that wasn’t even kid friendly (it was huge and no lid). I remember Disney Live and Blippi there were tables every where to purchase souvenirs! Of course the price for a drink was ridiculous along with popcorn. We always have a great time but be sure to bring your wallet! Purchasing tickets is always super easy and parking is never a problem as long as you can walk a little.
What a gorgeous theatre! I could just walk around and look at all the intricate detailing in this place for hours. The main stage is themed like a city at night, complete with night sky and stars. Its beautiful. As for the seats, they are spacious with lots of leg room. The bar is long and well staffed so we had no wait to get a couple cans of water at intermission.
I absolutely love going to the Louisville Palace. The inside is stunning & beautiful all around. Louisville Palace is located on 4th Street in Louisville KY and they have concert & even movies here. Its super easy to find & its just a few steps away from the Mercury Ballroom along with some really great restaurants. The floor & balcony area have been built at an angle so that no matter where you sit, you can see. They do offer food & drinks as well.If you have never been, put them on your list!
GORGEOUS! This venue is as incredibly unique as the artists it books to perform! Theres always something to see at the palace. Its spacious lobby and eclectic decor has made it a staple for fun and quirky events. I have visited the Palace for witchy craft shows, Blues legends, and beautiful chorus performances. The bars are well stocked and the bartenders are attentive and kind. With at least five places to order drinks youll be hard pressed to find a line that takes more than five minutes! The bathrooms are in the basement and the doorways would be difficult to navigate in a chair, which is a downside.
We saw RBRM here and they put on a really good show. This was my first time coming to this venue and i must say i was impressed. The sculptures and paintings were amazing. The seats could have been bigger but basically every seat was a pretty good view. The sound was good too and the staff was helpful.
An architectural gem with great acoustics. A place to dress to the nines and enjoy solid entertainment. Staff were kind and willing to assist, and the theatre was clean and ready for the crowds in spite of its age.Patti Labelle gave us plenty of reasons to keep getting out of our seats. She rocked the night.Great evening, downtown Louisville!
Beautiful!! I love going to the Palace for concerts. Because of the seats, its not the greatest for rock shows where you want to mosh, surf, or dance unless you are in the pit. The staff are all incredibly nice and helpful! Unlike Louisvilles stadium, the Palace staff are great with helping ADA patrons and do everything they can to make your visit memorable!
Just a great place to see a comedian. Great upgrades! Plus, I was amazed how quickly we were able to get outside after the show. Very impressive. We’ve been here about eight times.
I was privileged enough to get a tour of this theater when it was boarded up and dilapidated in the mid 1980s. It looked and seemed beyond salvageable. Much to my delight, not only was it reopened many years later, but it was a restoration so detailed it pretty much took it back to the point where it looked as good as the day it first opened in the 1920s. I dont care what act or event you go to at The Palace, if it sucks youve still got a marvel to see in the venue itself.
All these years we been coming to Louisville we didnt come here. What a waste :( What a beautiful place inside, with a nice VIP lounge. The seating were comfortable and spacious with enough leg room. The drinks they offer on the other hand are another story, hence one star deducted. I ordered the $22 Espresso martini, it came in plastic cup & the espresso coffee came from a can? Seriously... That should had real espresso in martini glass to compliment the theater especially if in VIP lounge. We will definitely come here again, but save your $ have drinks after at 4th Street live which is next door.
I love the Palace! The theater is beautiful. I do strongly advise patrons to read the venue entrance requirements before attending a performance. There was a massive bottleneck at the entry because most of the crowd at our show didnt.A few quibbles- the seats are a bit narrow and the aisles to the orchestra seats are treacherously steep. Im still giving them 5 stars because its a really cool building!
Top notch venue! Plenty of seating, reserved and clean. Loved the concerts I saw, and enjoyed the marquee lounge, as it was not crowded and a great place to sit, have a drink while waiting between bands, and/or chill while a show was going on. There are TVs to watch the shows live, free food (you do pay extra for access to the lounge), a pool.table, two bars, and room to stretch out.
One of my favorite venues. There are no bad seats. The interior is stunning! Acoustics are great
An awesome venue located in downtown Louisville. Wonderfully restored early twentieth century theater with all appointments as one would expect. No detail missing from this magnificent place of history and entertainment. A must see for anyone who has an interest in aesthetics. Definitely a repeat.Highly recommended.
We paid entirely too much money for a pitiful experience. Our tickets were on the floor, and everyone in our group was drenched with sweat. I cant imagine what it was like upstairs. There were square hand fans on the bar... waving a postcard at your face was not going to solve the problem. If the AC couldnt keep up, the water should have been free. The band delivered, the Palace did not. I will never attend another event there again.
I went to the Palace for their Harry Potter Yule Ball event. As an avid Harry Potter fan, I was not disappointed. They went all out on decor and activities. They had live owls and snakes! Not to mention the amazing dance floor! The Palace staff obviously takes pride in their events and does their best to make your experiences unforgettable!
What an incredible venue! So much history in one place. I never knew where to look next. Definitely one of the most beautiful buildings Ive ever been in.
We had 6 tickets to Seinfeld at 9:30 on 5/17/24. We arrived at 9:15 to a line that was about 3 blocks in length. We were not in the building till almost 10 and the show had started. Also getting help to our seats was difficult as there was no one in the lobby areas and the 1 usher in our section was overwhelmed with others needing help. They did not have sufficient staff nor were they prepared to host a second show! So disappointed.
Nice little plaza. $15 beer is crazy but what are you gonna do? Drink some before you get there at a cool bar across the street!!
Wonderful evening at the 50th Anniversary Tour Concert by the Doobie Brothers Band. Took my two adult kids who grew up hearing the songs from crib to college. Not a bad seat in the Palace, friendly staff, customer friendly from concert schedule postings on website, ordering tickets, arrival early, taking life memories pictures inside and out, orderly entry to seating to exiting, convenient and clean restrooms, and excellent lighting and sound during concert. Ample parking within walking distance.
I’m so glad I got to see Bob Dylan but Louisville Palace is not a venue I can see myself going back to. Bob Dylan aside, this was the worst concert experience I’ve ever had. From the one $15 drink, to which the bartender says, “But it’s like getting two beers.” Okay so I paid $7.50 each for two regular size cans of beer 🤷🏻♂️, not any better. Then the rudest bunch of concert goers, the worst of which was cousin Eddie and his family in Orchestra 1 Row Q seats 11-13, who were wallowing around half the concert like a bunch of feral hogs, talking like they were yelling from room to room, cell phones out shining lights all around while we were made to put ours in a magnet case, while they’re looking for another cell phone, not in a magnetic case, that they lost somewhere, and even after they ruled out it being there in the seating area they argued about it for 20 more minutes . Not one usher, security member saying or doing anything about them. We finally had to say something. Add to that all the people in and out like a subway station because they can’t just sit quietly and patiently for the short amount of time the concert is going on. I can’t say I’ll never go back to LP but it’s unlikely not for what we paid and the experience we had, over $300 for seats to see and hear half a concert. For as many people as were out there making sure phones were in bags, once the concert started some of them should have been inside the theater keeping control of people like Cousin Eddie and his feral family. This was more like being at a horse track or NASCAR race then being at a concert. The LP was designed back in a time when there was intermission, everyone got up at the same time, got food, drinks and used the bathroom. Now people just need to learn to do that stuff before they go in. If you can’t hold it for two hours, go see a doctor. Louisville Palace, you have a responsibility to control the atmosphere of the concert. Had you had people monitoring you could have prevented a lot of the commotion going on like Cousin Eddie, my goodness talking loudly and shining cell phones all over for at least a half hour should have got someone’s attention, heck I’ll bet Bob Dylan and the band could see and hear them. Do better! I shout have had a better experience for spending what I did.
Great place holding many events, old movies, live performances, etc. we went to see hocus pocus. Picture and sound wad really good. Pictures dont do this place justice, its enormous and you really need to see every detail in person. My only issue for this event was that they were not prepared for as many people to show up and want drinks and food. Concession lines were extremely long. Will definitely be going back, but will probably grab food before I go.
Great atmosphere! Wonderful show! Loved seeing Bob Dylan! A legend in a great, intimate venue. I have never seen a bad show at the Palace.
Absolutely beautiful inside! It was a large crowd for the Chicago concert and everyone got in rather quickly. Staff was extremely nice and helpful.
Saw Earth Wind and Fire and the show was every bit as good as in the 1970s...costuming was to die for, dancing was beautifully choreographed (and damnnnnn they be limber for OGs)))), new members fit like a glove and clearly were held to high standards and the MUSIC...im so glad i went...and much more than a footnote...the palace is phenomenal-- arcitecture and design are wonderful, only complaint is $9 for a diet soda and as someone who isnt as limber as the guys in EWF, telling the people in wheelchairs where the 3levators were would have been helpful :)
Very cool venue and has good acoustics. Lots of drink stations and a pretty massive place. My only complaint really is that some of the rows have grates in them, probably for spilled drinks, and you will end up standing on them and they will hurt your feet for sure. My foot is still sore this morning from standing on one multiple times.
Absolutely stunning inside, freon the outside it looks like a normal theater. Once you walk in, you want to pull your phone out and start snapping pictures. The architecture is beautiful, the painted ceilings, the statues, and then the shows. They have great management team that takes care of the customer. Will definitely return.
Huge place bigger than expected. The venue makes you feel like your under the stars when youre not. Beautiful venue.
Saw Brit Floyd here, who was amazing by the way. If youre a Pink Floyd fan they are a mist see. Not a huge venue which works well acoustically. Really pretty design inside. Staff was helpful and nice, bathrooms seemed clean. My only complaint had to do with cell phones. Several people were recording what seemed like the entire concert. One guy was facetiming during it. Its so distracting and annoying when my view is blocked by someones bright screen or phone being held in the air. If movie theaters can ban/limit cell phone use why cant music venues? I really hope this venue and others adopt more restrictive cell phone policies.
Beautiful place only complaints were during concert everybody stood up whole concert and couldnt see and alcohol is little expensive
Went for The Price is Right Live. It was a good show. The venue is beautiful and is a definite thing to view if you are in the area. They are doing construction outside (March 1) which made getting in a little difficult. Be prepared for a baggage search and going through metal detector as you enter. This place does have ADA seats but they are extremely limited.
If you havent been to the Palace. You need to go it is so beautiful. All the concerts Ive been to have had a great time with good sound
It is a beautiful theater, I had a great experience there and I can’t wait to go back.
**Visited for The Princess Bride with Cary Elwes**The inside is gorgeous, but the line was so long around the block that even showing up early we were 15mins late to the show, which was a movie, so kinda a big deal for my kiddo whod never seen it before.. Doors were open an hour prior, but evidently should have opened sooner or they shouldve held the start time to allow everyone to be admitted. Made it hard to justify $200 for 4 tickets, and prolly wont do it again. Needed a restroom for kids before we left, but didnt see one clearly marked, and the torrent of people made it impossible to stop and breathe to find one. Otherwise show was fine.
Went to a Jordan B. Petterson event. The Palace Theatre is beautiful. My friends who were with me made everything that more enjoyable.
If you have never been to the Palace, you are missing one of Lifes many pleasures. The place opened in 1928, and has been one of the best entertainment venues of Louisville. We went to see Bonamassa, and was not in any way disappointed. The decor, the music......awe inspiring.
An outstandingly wonderful theater with an amazing aesthetic to further excite the atmosphere. The art around the Louisville palace along with the structure and acoustics are unbelievable and just undeniably breathtaking. Every experience here is bound to be unforgettable. Louisville palace theater is one of the best!
The venue is wonderful. Amazing architecture. Plenty of parking garages surrounding the place. The event I attended had ticket pickup at the box office only. Just one little door for the little box office room. Lots of people trying to get in and out and then had to get in line again to get in the venue. Thought that was a little silly to be almost late for the show when I showed up so early
Gorgeous venue. I do recommend sitting a bit farther up, as the floor level can be difficult to see behind other people.
An amazing piece of art in its self. I drove from northern Indiana to go see a band, but was astounded at the art and old century feel to it. The acoustics were great. The only downfall o saw was there were no areas with no seats for people to get into the intense music, but its completely saved by the venue and acoustics its self
The venue is horrible. The price for a 12 Oz bottle of water was $8 . Everybody stands the entire production, so you cant see, and the main event was extremely lackluster. I wouldnt go see Elvis there. It was raining on KC AND THE SUNSHINE BAND.
First of all the Palace is a dump, we had to wait in a long line before we went inside then having to go through a scanner and have my purse searched then to find someone where our seats were no ushers and a lot of old people like myself the handicap area had 2 rows of folding chairs, we had reservations,, we were literally in the very back, my son was so surprised the lack of of anyone that should have helped with seating. Then it was so cold, I ask if he would get a coke with one and a small box of popcorn, $8 each so $16 was way too high plus parking was $15.The show started at 8 the curtain is opened , the drummer is up on some sort of small stage with glass around it the the other musicians we right upon him and the backup singer was next to the audience on stage, when the so called Loretta Lynn came out in this awful looking yellow dress, she tried to tell some jokes, she went over to a small table and took a drink of something then when she turned around she almost fell, she was terrible the real Loretta didn’t act like that, at 8:45 she announced they would be taking a break she had sung maybe 6-7 songs and tried to do some jokes, there was only half the seating and we had to sit in chairs so I decided I could no longer sit so we left.I will never go to anything they have there.Downtown Louisville is gone buildings boarded up, in the 1950-60 it was so clean now saw people laying on the sidewalk, the parking garage was filthy garbage everywhere.I worked in downtown Louisville for years, nice stores now signs advertising pornography, how sad a beautiful city turned into a dump😢
What a beautiful, atmospheric, not-a-bad-seat-in-the-entire-place is the Louisville Palace Theatre. If you have any opportunity to see a beloved band here, just do it. Reasonable booze prices, very comfortable seating, great acoustics. Not a bad word to be said from me. Swa Allman Bros and Weird Al a few years back here. Saw King Diamond on Saturday last and going to see Alice Cooper tomorrow. Shinedown in March... all at the palace...great venue for up close and personal rock. Love the place.
Beautiful theater. Not a bad seat. Sounded great for the concert we attended.
Always clean, friendly staff, and awesome acts. The theater itself manages to make shows feel intimate despite its size. The beautiful and unique decor makes The Palace one of a kind and so freaking cool. Every time I come in I cant help but just stare around for several minutes. Especially for certain shows, the ambiance seriously adds to the performance.
Big enough to host legitimate artists, small enough to enjoy their performance without the massive crowds. My favorite venue for live music in Louisville.
Wow! The building itself is simply amazing to see! So much to see and do on the inside, not to mention the fact that they have amazing concerts and its kept in very good shape!! Come for the architecture, and history, and while you are there, catch a show!! Looking forward to seeing this beautiful Palace Theater again!
A stunning venue.I just have one large complaint. When charging hard-working people hundreds of dollars more for the first three rows, aka VIP, thats not so VIP, please do not stuff the chairs on top of each other.I get they wanted to make as much money as possible, but it was disrespectful and at the buying customers expense. Especially for those of us with disabilities. I spent the last three shows in VIP extremely uncomfortable and in pain.If I didnt want to meet the act, it would have been far better to sit in the normal seats and pay normal pricing. Do better Louisville Palace - because I am done being disrespected as a hard paying customer. From now on, I refuse to pay more money to sit on top of someone in a small chair thats as big as a bar stool.
Ive always loved the Louisville Palace. Its a beautifully restored theater and much more intimate venue than the larger stadiuns/arenas. Plus I got to see Bob Dylan tonight! Great show but never long enough! Other acts Ive seen here are John Prine (RIP), Nancy Griffith (RIP), Harry Connick Jr., George Jones (RIP), Keb Mo, John Mellencamp, Elvis Costello, Chris Cornell (RIP), Jethro Tull, and Alice Cooper.
My first and only experience here was amazing. Absolutely gorgeous inside with details of museum quality!
The venue was excellent. The service, however, left much to be desired. The doors did not open until 30 minutes before The Piano Guys started. Trying to get nearly 3,000 people in that time is impossible when they are also running everyone through metal detectors. We were about 10 minutes late getting in, and I would guess some were over 30 minutes late.
It was my first time there and the Louisville Palace Theater was amazingly beautiful. Oneus concert was amazing.
Convenient location. Parking garage located across the street. Plenty of restaurants nearbyCovid vaccine proof or negative test result for entry. Not a bad seat in the auditorium. Intimate feel with beautiful architecture, as a bonus.Helpful employees. You must descend a long set of steps to get to bathrooms.
Great venue, beautiful place. The acoustics are great...
The staff was friendly and nice, but at the end of the show security did nothing when people would come stand in front of our section. We were the front row of our section, so it felt like the money we spent for that got wasted when people from the back of the venue could just come stand in front of us for half an hour. The AC doesn’t work, so we were all dripping with sweat. The seats are also extremely small, so you get to be pressed against a sweaty stranger. The performance was amazing, I wish I could have enjoyed it more.
Went in saw pattie Labelle do her thing Herr and also my husband shut it down snoop dogg I saw him both times the staff are so nice and got you where you needed to be.
Very awesome place! Amazing atmosphere, easy pathing and access to different areas. Got to see avatar live and they were awesome! Definitely coming back for other bands. Wonderful Theatre!
Beautiful room, fantastic acoustics, friendly, helpful staff. There are no bad seats (okay the extreme sides in the front floor)...even in the back the view lines and sound are great. The usher gave my daughter and I an impromptu history of the room and was very helpful and friendly. The Ohio Theater was my favorite room...until now. Love this place.
We loved everything about the theater except for the fact that there are curtains above the stage. We were up in the balcony, but closer to the front of the balcony, and we couldnt read some of the words that were at the top of the screen behind the curtains at the top of the stage. It seems weird to have curtains that hang lower than the screen thats on the stage. I feel worse for anyone who was higher up in the balcony because they probably couldnt have seen most of what was on the screen. The problem with not seeing what was on the screen was that there were parts of the show that showed images and parts of the story line on the screen that werent shown or said anywhere else, so we basically missed pieces of the show. Drinks are also really expensive for no reason. We got 4 drinks between the two of us. The first time we got two drinks, okay. Didnt know how they priced it. The next three times there was a drink bought it ended up being a different price even though it was the exact same drink every single time and wasnt able to be told why. Please see photo for reference on curtains. I just wish the screen would have had words on it in the picture so it was easier to see what Im saying about the tops of things being cut off during to the curtains.
Bob Dylan played and it was a great night. The palace is a beautiful venue.
Such an impressive venue. We attended the Rose Award and I brought my Mom who was on vacation. Such a unique place. The history and layout was wonderful. We had a great time!
Beautiful old theater. Very ornate, almost like stepping back in time. Acoustics are good for a musical performance. The angle of seating in the floor section is low, so if a tall person is in front of you, count on an obstructed view. Drinks are overpriced as they are in most venues. Good theater for a more intimate show.
Amazing, beautiful, vintage!!! I cant wait to get tickets to go again!!
Jordan peterson event was very good. Nice place and comfortable seating.
As for the theater itself, OMG was it beautiful!!Now the negative, I just attended the Wynonna concert on Saturday November 25th. I had a front row center aisle seat in which I paid a mint for. The security was non existent and there were several women that continued to enter my seat space. Literally shoving me, I was even elbowed in the head 3 times as they tried to pose for selfies with Wy behind them. The only one security lady told them several times to go back to their seats and they continued to return and cause issues. I paid way too much money to not be able to enjoy the show to its fullest! Im not sure I will ever attend another event here if this is how things go. I understand people dancing and having a great time, but what took place on Saturday was extremely unacceptable to me! I plan on contacting the venue personally to discuss this issue if they will ever answer the phone in which they didnt today.
Louisville Palace is beautiful on the inside. There is not a bad seat in the Palace.Friendly staff, they do not accept cash, I can see why, but at the same time, if you dont have a debit/cc, you will not be able to make a purchase. We will visit in the future.
Beautiful venue for a show. We saw Trevor Noah! The drinks are expensive but lines moved quickly. The restrooms had long lines after the show. One of the stalls didnt lock and was difficult to use that way with huge lines. The restroom was also out of soap. The reason for 4 stars is mainly due to the restroom issues and overpriced drinks. Staff was friendly.
