We were first time visitors to MBR and our experience was awesome! All the staff were very friendly and helpful, from the folks at the door, to the girl who oversaw the VIP experience for the band we saw, to the ushers and bartenders. The venue itself was great as well, not a bad seat in the house. Bathrooms on lower and upper level, very clean, and the sound quality was amazing. 10/10 experience.
Niko will light you up, he shares his positivity vibe like a beacon in the dark! This place was mighty, Nikos music was your heartbeat when he started you felt it w the wooden floor💓. Amazing performance every time, Mercury Ballroom was great! Easy flow, accessable from every side. Great drink selection. Bathrooms were nice. Friendly & funny staff, great service all around.
The staff knew what they were doing for sure. The bathrooms were clean and seemed maintained. When trying to utilize the upstairs VIP / GA section of the venue we were unable because the elevator was broken and I am unable to use stairs at this current moment. Prices were as expected for a concert venue and the bartenders were really nice.
My brother and I attended an Attila concert at The Mercury Ballroom Friday night. The staff was the best. They were so kind, considerate, respectful, and patient. They made this show one the best experiences in my life. Awesome job! We were late ( as usual) for the meet and greet that was before the show. Instead of being SOL like we have been many times before, the staff, crew, and bands went out of there way to come out and greet us, take pics, and gave us some swag. Franz from Attila came out and spoke with us. He and the other members were gracious and considerate. Thank you all so very much. It was unbelievable. You all helped restore my faith in humanity.
Great concert hall! We always have a blast whenever we come see shows here. Stage is elevated enough that everyone gets a good view and the venue isnt too big that you need to worry if youre stuck near the back, you can still see everything fine, but front row is where its at here. Bar in the back of the room is easily accessible so you dont even have to miss the show. Great place!
Incredible venue. Maxes at about 900 people. Awesome event parking directly across the street in a parking structure. The staff is engaged and terrific. The sound of great and very loud. There are amazing seating areas. Very cool layout. Awesome balcony really makes you feel engaged. Awesome lounge areas like luscious sofas, benches, and high tables. Theres also some comfy stadium like seating on the top for a great view. Theres about 30 of those seats that are only $35 extra for VIP status. They have a huge bar downstairs, and two well equipped large bars up stairs. No matter where yiu are, its always great sound. The whole layout is just super exciting, and it makes yiu want to be there. On concert events like metal shows, every area is GA which is great, save for the VIP areas. Awesome lighting effects.
Great place to have an company event. We were invited to a company event that had Uncle Kracker. Great stage lighting and sound system. They had a gentlemen rolling cigars outside on one end. Bag’s outside as well sorry I refuse to call it cornhole. On the opposite side they had an outdoor bar and whiskey sampling.Easy walk back to 4th street and the Galt hotel.
Comfortable venue, friendly staff. Always clean, sound is always good, no complications with entrance. Bathrooms are clean, and well maintained. One of my favorite venues!
The security there likes to harass patrons making them move all over during shows if you dont pay the ridiculously overpriced VIP tickets. This happened to many people. I wont see another show there unless it comes under new ownership/management.
Excellent and unique venue! We recently went to see Matt and Kim play there and chose to sit upstairs on the balcony. We paid extra, but it was well worth it. There were two bars upstairs. I would have liked to see a better craft beer selection, namely at least one IPA available, but oh well. They did have some Against the Grain and tall-boy PBR. Anyway, the view of the band was amazing! The staff was super friendly! I would definitely recommend Mercury and go back for another show.
This venue is very clean and comfortable. It’s very well staffed. Feels safe and clean. Drinks are pretty pricey but I guess that’s necessary for operating costs.
Location is nice. Lots to do/see/eat. Made a nice date night. Concert was lots of fun. Drinks are expensive. A snag with their credit card reader made a long line. The minute group left the stage, staff was chasing patrons out, even shutting down bathrooms. I felt after the amount of money spent in their establishment, theyd be better hosts to their guests.
Great venue. We were on the main floor right up front! Standing room only but we were able to interact with the musicians. Excellent acoustics and a very large floor. There is also the preferred seating up above with theatre style seating at the back and tables and chairs on both sides. They have a bar but I dont drink so I cant tell you about thebartending. I do know that one mixed drying and a large can of bud cost $18.
Super-cool venue. Intervals was perfect and Wolfgang was sooooo good. Loved the atmosphere and the ugrade to the balcony was awesome. Hospitality was A+. Would definitely see more concerts there.
Went to see The Mountain Goats and of course its general admission and I am handicapped. I drifted upstairs (elevator!) looking for a spot on a bench when out of the shadows a staff member is at my elbow. Are you looking for the ADA seating?ADA seating is in the balcony with the upgraded seats. Its an excellent view and theres a server! Honestly one of the best places and people!
Excellent experience! Brought our 4 and 2 year old to see the Whos Bad Michael Jackson experience. We had a blast. The staff was friendly and efficient. Would definitely come back.
I am very late posting. My visit was Late July 2019. I had a great experience at the Ballroom. The employees were very friendly, I didnt know a soul and felt very comfortable. I used online ticketing, and easy email conversation to upgrade my tickets. Not to mention the show.. Motley II and my new favorite band Downtrend, Kentucky Metal.
Great venue, Plenty of space and a balcony if you dont want to be on the floor for the rowdy shows.
Outrageous drink prices. Cheapest shot is $11 - and its not a long pour. If someone wanted to sneak a drink in to a concert, it wouldnt be that hard to do because they only run you through a metal detector. I am NOT advocating that, because that would hurt their income and therefore be wrong. Just observing
Great venue but quite loud so make sure to wear hearing protection if you’re sensitive to that. Splurge for a balcony seat if you can as it’s worth it.
The Mercury Ballroom is an amazingly unique hidden gem located on 4th Street, just a few blocks South of 4th Street Live. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, and the interior layout is unique and reminiscent of the ballrooms of the past. Great place to see a small scale concert or local bands.
The Ballroom is a great venue. Ive lost count of how many shows Ive seen here. Nice backstage space to chill in as well.
Went here for a Key Glock concert and left smelling largely of weed, I had hoped it wouldn’t happen, but seemingly was inevitable, I wish there was a way to not have to interact with smoke that was quite unpleasant. I would definitely go back it was a super cool venue, but I wish there was tighter security especially considering how small of a building it was to be allowing smoke in the area.
A fun venue. Good drinks, good views. Space to dance if you choose. Spaces to retreat if you choose. The upstairs ladies room was nice and clean. Didnt use the downstairs.
This place is a awesome intimate space to see your favorite small and big artist. BUT water is 6$ and a 24oz pbr is 14$
I recently had a highly unprofessional experience with three employees at this establishment. While staying at the Hilton, I unintentionally used one of their parking spots to turn my car around, not realizing it belonged to them. During this, an employee, who was unloading a car, paused and began staring. When I questioned this, he rudely told me to leave. Another worker emerged from the car, calling me an idiot, and a third one joined in with an offensive remark directed at me. Its shocking to see staff behave so inappropriately towards others, especially while on duty. Their conduct lacked any professionalism.
I recently attended my first concert here since before the shutdowns due to COVID-19. I always loved the intimate atmosphere of the Mercury Ballroom. I think the venue is doing a good job of maintaining that same environment, while also implementing appropriate safety measures and precautions that seems so necessary for such large and diverse crowds. (Candlebox put on an awesome show btw 😜)
Very good place. When we went we saw Hobo Johnson and everything about the venue was great. The bar was good and the view of the the stage from almost everywhere in the place was pretty good. One minor complaint would have to be the location of the bathrooms in contrast to where crowds tend to congregate. I love this place though, the house staff does a great job.
I bought (2) $35 GA Standing room only tickets to see Kameron Marlowe on Feb 10, 2024. The show was posted “Sold Out” day of show on social media. When we got there, we tried to go upstairs bc the lower floor was getting crowded. We waited in a staircase and then were told we had to buy an additional ticket to have a seat if we wanted to actually see the stage from upstairs bc the only GA was along the wall. So, my friend spent $40 per ticket so we’d have somewhere to actually be able to watch Kameron!!! We now spent $75 per ticket! The ONLY option when we purchased tickets originally was GA/Standing room only. And, they said the venue was cashless, but then their Square wasn’t working for cards. The total event wasn’t managed well and the venue took people for granted by only advertising 1 ticket price, then charging another for seats once you were in the building.
Saw many great bands there! Recently saw Black Water Revival--A Doobie Brothers Tribute! Amazing
I experienced this venue for the Lacuna Coil concert and was so thrilled with my experience there. All the facilities were clean, there was parking adjacent to the building. And the staff was helpful and friendly. I felt very safe there even though I had come solo to the event. I didnt try the bar since I was driving, but all the drinks I saw looks delicious.
I won tickets on the radio. Elvie shane was amazing. Very intimate setting. But as far as the venue goes it was nice but very disappointing how expensive it was to upgrade to an actual seat. The first guy didnt even mention that there were free options
Attended the Club 90s 2000s night here at the Mercury Ballroom and it was SO much fun! This is one of my favorite venues in town to see my favorite artists, in addition to events like these hosted here!
Had a great time at a concert and a great view, even though I was toward the back of the crowd.
Drove 5 hours to a concert here and the venue failed to notify that the concert was rescheduled. No Email, No Phone Call, Nothing. I had to find out by a paper taped to a window after my 5 hour drive!!!!
Great small venue! Saw Coheed and Cambria... They sounded AMAZING! The place was packed, but still didnt feel over crowded. They have video monitors in the back, which was kind of nice. I mean, the place isnt that big, so the monitors arent really necessary. But they did have a nice clear picture of the entire stage, so it was nice. Got a Jack Daniels drink for $5, which seems reasonable. Like I said, this is a great venue for live music.
While I had a lot of fun listening to Gaelic Storm, staff seemed very inexperienced at venues and could not figure out a good or fair system for fans to get autographs from the band. They even were separating my mom and I from each other using a curtain and did not care. Im not a child, but they could have politely asked us to move. Venue was great, staff need more training.
First time seeing a concert here and the experience and atmosphere were great. Nearby parking is easily accessible as well. My only complaint is that the website shows general admission standing area in the balcony but was told when we went up that it was $45 extra per person, even to stand up there. Other than needing to update their website for this, I would highly recommend.
Venue was awesome, saw southall band live here. The lights and atmosphere was phenomenal
Intimate setting. Drinks are high. Big enough to mosh but too small to crowd surf.
Love this place for shows! Great sound music and you are up close right in front of the band super easy to get front row if you want
The best music venue in Louisville. Always a great time and always a great staff. We see a lot of shows here and always feel safe while rocking out.
Great time. Great sound. Bar service was excellent. 👍🏻
Great venue, awesome place to see a show.
Its a fine enough venue GA and a good beer selection at concert prices. They NEVER post the opening act however, which really bothers me. The whole point of and opening act is to give less popular bands more attention and If I cant look up who it was how am I suppose to know. Do you want me to take my phone out and try and look them up in the one or two times they say it. why cant they just do the basic thing nearly all venues do and post it?
This is an incredible venue. I mistakenly didnt check the bag regulations before heading over there and mine was too big, but the people at the front door were super great and let me right to the front of the line after I returned my bag to the car, which was super close because the parking lot was right across the street. The bartenders were friendly and made an excellent drink. We had our 2 kids with us, age 9 & 13, and even in the standing room only area we always felt safe and everyone was super respectful. We cant wait to attend another event here.
Great entertainment, but the drinks are really pricey !!!
I was at the Best Night Ever party, and I enjoyed the music. The staff treated people with respect and communicated with others effectively before the show started. My favorite part about the venue was the amazing DJ that performed at the Best Night Ever party. However, drink prices were outrageously expensive, as I paid seventeen bucks for my drink. Can’t wait to be back here for more concerts and events.
Pretty cool venue. Reminded me a lot of a smaller version of Headliners. The staff was really friendly and we had a great time. The only downside is the price of the drinks and the fact that you are unable to open a tab, but its like that at a lot of places these days
I’ve attended a few shows here. Father John Misty was a great performance, but the bartenders in the back having full conversations with one another during the performance was awful. They were talking so loud that it gave a reason for others in the back to have loud full on conversations. First concert I’ve been to where several people had to shhhhhhhhsh the crowd and yet the bartenders just kept continuing talking as loud as possible. This wasn’t a loud concert at all, but all their talking really took away from a great performance.
Went to see a tribute band - Led Zeppelin 2. The event staff got us through the door quick. Once inside there was as a bar to get food and drinks. There was also an option to upgrade the ticket to balcony seating. I opted out but from the floor it looked neat. The band sounded great and the overall atmosphere was out of this world.
Livenation is an unchecked monopoly that should be regulated! As a result they have commercialized every aspect of a show going experience. This hurts everyone employees, bands/artists and YOU (the show goer) the most. This makes live events, predictable, and BORING. The audience was trying to stay awake and be as supportive as possible, but even I could see the wear in everyones expression, feeling obligated to stay, like dads at Disney world because the tickets are so ridiculously expensive. The concert experience was so sterile (like all livenation venues). The result was the same as watching a live show on YouTube at home. The sound was perfect, the performers didnt miss a note. So much so, the artists could have just played the pre-recorded tracks of songs performed and pretended to play: No one would be the wiser and it would have been the same experience. Every liquor logo, hot topic ad, etc was/is paid advertisement! This alone should make tickets free and the bands paid handsomely. However livenations greed is so out of control. They keep taking more, because they are getting away with it. Ticket prices are unfair and the hidden fees are an extra dagger in the back. This is nothing new. Clear channel/livenation etc. is an unregulated evil greedy corporation that exists in American live music. Im just telling you the truth. Not a solution.
Great place to see a show. Great upstairs VIP areas and service is always great. Drinks are expensive but it is what we expected.
My second time in the place and in a completely different viewing space and was still amazed by the sound quality. Hearing every note from a band like Polyphia is what youre there for and this venue has it down to a science.
I went to go see Josh Meloy with some friends, and it was great until an older man came and handed me 2 OPEN alcoholic beverages. A security guard waved me and him down and tried kicking me out, and kicked him out. I had not taken a single sip of any alcohol this man had given me because no woman in their right mind would take an open drink from an old man. we drove 3 hours there and my night was absolutely ruined. This was a very stressful situation and not on me what so ever. josh meloy was great but i will never be back to this venue.
Its a great venue. I appreciate the thorough search before getting in. The bar staff was mostly not friendly. Drinks are super expensive. $14 for a Jack and Coke. And they dont accept cash. I dont know if I will be back.
Great little place to see a show ! Super clean and the atmosphere is relaxed. Remember it is VERY small so dont be a late arrival.
This really is a wonderful venue. All of the shows I have seen here have been amazing.Sadly, they really are extremely over-priced at the bar. Exorbitant.I suppose this is where the real profit comes from. Be ready to spend a ton for alcohol, but you will enjoy the show.
Good sound quality for a venue, even for deathcore shows the audio is clear and balanced. Place is taken care of and easy to locate restrooms and elevator.
Awesome small venue. Great atmosphere.
Fantastic gig hall. Old school meets cool.
First time ever, visiting this well known establishment... It was awesome! Atmosphere is perfectly tuned for a diverse audience -all adult ages are welcome here. The staff is super helpful, and friendly. Prices for tickets are also great, typically a lot cheaper than other local venues, which is a huge plus. There is limited seating, so get there as early as possible to get a good seat. Theres plenty of standing room though if youre running late. Absolutely worth a visit! I know Ill be going back! ;)
Very nice venue. Good sound. Drinks were pricey, but you actually get 20oz beers. Everyone working the venue were very nice.
Great sound! Love the new patios. Drink prices are absolutely ridiculous!
Had a great time at the stryper show, staff was very friendly, My husband got our drinks two cans of Pepsi $16 over priced for sure, I get it they need to make revenue but that was over board! Other than that it was good!
The Sound Was Amazing As Always At The Mercury Ballroom,I Was There To See FEAR FACTORY,New Singer Milo Did An Outstanding Job,His Voice Range Is Great.
Nice place when not too crowded. Not enough places to lean/sit/rest for a whole show, and prices for the only seats available (upstairs, various VIP levels) are steep for what most need / want. Great sound and great band. All employees I encountered were friendly and helpful with an extra serving of customer service excellence - bonus points, for sure. Parking was also easier than I expected for downtown (free street parking after 6pm), but I was there on a weeknight.
I always have a great here. Its a nice intimate experience.
Very very satisfied, it was the perfect place for a concert
Very nice atmosphere, but I wish they were more accommodating to some of us who cannot stand for long periods such as a complete performance or even 2 including warm up band.
Mercury Ballroom is an ok music venue at best. The acoustics are not that great and beer prices are absolutely ridiculous. $17 FOR A CAN OF BEER?!?!? IF i go to a show there again, Ill go down early and have a few beers at a nearby establishment and not spend a single cent in the venue. They were not even half full on a Friday night.
My boyfriend and our friends attended this venue this past weekend for a country concert (Chase Rice). It was fantastic. Not a bad place in the house. We actually chose to do VIP seating upstairs due to there being chairs and a much less crowded bars and restroom. I highly recommend purchasing this option. Its very affordable, especially with our tickets being such a great price to begin with. I will suggest purchasing tickets via LiveNation, not Ticketmaster if you are wanting Fast Passes. I used Ticketmaster & didnt have the Fast Pass option. You can also purchase them at the box office window the day of the event, but hurry because they sell out very quickly. Personally, we decided they werent worth it unless you just want to be in the first row right in front of the stage. We had a great view either way and were satisfied with not being right up front. Overall it was a fun experience and we cannot wait to attend another event at this location.
Nice place to see a concert. Small venue for certain events, so it can seem to crowded. There is only seating for VIP, so think twice when you are choosing your shoes. I have enjoyed several concerts here, and a few parties. The bars are crowded, but the bar staff are pretty good at handling the crowd and so the line moves pretty fast.
Mercury Ballroom is a nice venue, however if you want to drink while youre there be prepared to take a bank loan. A single 24 oz beer is $13... I understand you have to make money but you dont have to recover the price of a 12 pack off of beer damn. Again otherwise a nice venue.
Staff was very helpful and friendly to my daughter at her first concert! We had such a great time. Definitely will be back! Family friendly and very comfortable
Enjoyed the show! Tina with Sheryl Rouse. Just wished there were more seats.
Great Friendly Venue/Staff, Multiple times leaving after a show the staff has given out free tickets to other Concerts. If your favorite artist is playing here Go and have a good time. There are no bad views in the standing room. Only complaint is the price of drinks but worth it for the music.
Attended a Pink Floyd tribute band and had a blast, place was a little smaller than I anticipated but not to small for the crowd that night, the only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I ordered 2 long Island ice teas and a 24oz bud lite and the bartender said $53, $58 with tip. Tickets were only $25.00 a piece for general admission
Awesome venue! Been to countless concerts here and have zero complaints.
Had an amazing time here last night! Facility was well kept! Bathrooms were cleaner than expected given the mass amount of people! Bartenders were super nice! The manager was an upstanding individual! Carried himself well and was very respectful! Definitely will be coming back for more shows!
Updating my review to 5 star. I have seen a dozen or more shows here including sold out shows. VIP (read an actual seat) is small and expensive... that said it is a great size space. I especially like the upstairs.
Absolute wonderful venue for a show. The Struts concert was great and the size of the venue makes for an intimate show.
Amazing show, however I do feel like the venue is not really set up for concerts. At a height of 5ft 9in standing in the back of the room there were many people who were seemingly rude and much taller standing in front of me obstructing my view of the stage due to this I actually wound up leaving the venue before the concert have even ended. I feel as though this venue would strongly benefit from Arena style seating rather hire in the back shorter in the front such as the Iroquois Amphitheater overall I do not believe I would return for another show just due to the fact that my experience was ruined by not being able to see the stage.
Went to The Crystal Method show and it was GREAT! nice big floor, standing room only unless you purchase an upgrade to VIP. VIP area is upstairs and has lots of seating available. Coat check available for $5, security does make you empty pockets and check all bags and purses before entry and every time you re-enter after that. Security also gives everyone a full pat down before entry to any event. Full bar but pretty pricey. All in all a great venue I would recommend and will be returning to in the future!
How is VIP on the balcony over top of the stage to see Ella Mae she had mahalia open for her. Because the way this venue is set up it is hands-down the best concert I had ever been to. Sounds on point, cold, wonderfully dim lighting, the balcony is literally right over top of the stage we had our own cocktail waitress that came to our seats. It was an amazing experience. Clean bathrooms we got catered too only complaint I have is they do not serve any type of food not even snacks.
The bag requirements are a bit ridiculous given that there is hardly any other COVID-19 related protocol in place. Also the drink prices are absurdly high, but I suppose Id expect that of any venue. All said, its a pretty decent place to see a show.
Pros: small venue, upstairs available for extra fee has separate restrooms, 2-3 bars, sofa lounge, a few rows of theater style seating, outside covered porch.Plenty of parking across street in garage.Cons: speakers stage right pop and fuzzy at times, bartenders are not pleasant and can’t make a decent cocktail to save their life, the drink special was a Moscow mule ($18.75) and the first time I ordered it the bartender used sprite and gin 😭 when I asked for it to be remade - she then asked me what I wanted in my Moscow Mule?To upgrade to the upstairs, you must arrive early (first come first serve) which means arriving as much as 2 hours in advance. No RE-Entry. No outside food. 100% CASHLESS VENUE.Bathrooms in GA floor are on either side near front of stage which makes the wings for viewing show constantly being disrupted.
A very amazing venue. Was there to see Lacuna Coil. Whole experience was epic. Staff was nice friendly and very respectful
Attended a Parkway Drive show here, and its a really cool venue. Standing room only, and the sound is fantastic... perfect for a rock or metal show.I will definitely return, and I only knocked off a star because of the drink prices. I attend multiple shows and festivals every year so Im used to paying for high-priced beverages, but $4 for a cup of Coca-Cola and $4 for a bottle of water is a bit excessive compared to other venues that I have visited.
Loved the venue. Plenty of room. Show wasnt to loud, it was perfect. Bar has a great selection if drinks as well. Bathrooms are kept clean and getting in and out are easy.
We had fun. Standing most of time. If you dont want to pay for seating you have to grab a seat quick. Beer was 12 for a 24oz. 10 for shots. Band was southern accents and they were awesome! Lower level was packed and upper level had lots of room.
What good is having Handicap accessible seating if a persons family can not sit or stand near them? I was yelled at my large man in a blue event staff shirt in the handicap accessible area stopping me as I tried to sit with my sister who had reserved handicap tickets for four months. I wish I could have videoed his rudeness toward me on 10-3-21. The box office or manager had no idea or consolation to an easily fixable situation.ADA details says first come first serve - but says noting about the party not being able to sit with family or friends that bought the ticket. My family member is severally handicapped to the point she can not stand. How horrible to take away and experience with her enjoying the show with the 2 other people in her party. How about signage and social media notification - if you are handicapped you will have to sit alone and you be separated from your party of 3!Poor management. Poor customer service. No wonder the average person in Louisville doesn’t want to leave their house. Pay for a night out and get treated awful from a local venue. Another embarrassment from my hometown - Louisville is better than this. Shame on you- Mercury Ballroom- no empathy- no problem solving skills- no common sense. The only other team member we had an interaction - female at the bar was rude as well! Seems like working at a live music venue would be fun- everyone seemed stressed and unhappy. Sad
The girlfriend and I really enjoy this place. We recently completed the VIP experience and it was fantastic. Its a smaller venue so the concerts feel more intimate. Its close to fourth street and a lot of other restaurant/drinking establishment.Cons - drinks are pricey and it can feel crowded with the small area (hince why we always upgrade). Get there early or you will not make it to the rail. Security also takes forever to get through, they had one line for a sold out show.
Nice intimate setting for smaller concerts, about 800-900. Good acoustics, fairly well maintained. But the big negative is that they dont have any seats. Its standing room only. That gets really old after four hours unless youre drunk. This also makes it somewhere between difficult and impossible to reach the bathroom or the bar and you lose your place to stand.
Loved it. Great sound. Pay extra and do VIP seating and relax. VIP has fewer people, nice bars and private bathrooms.sin lower level is standing only. Drinks are pricey, but weigh that against the vibe and great local artists..pay it...it helps keep live music in our town.
Venue is great for small performances. Good standing room and ventilation so you wont get overheated. Second floor as well if you like a birds eye view of things. Highly recommend seeing smaller acts here. Wish the bar was a bit better stocked though. Still 5 stars.
Great atmosphere and awesome performance by Atmosphere!🤘
I loved this place! Im from Nashville and have been to quite a few small venues across the east (Nashville, Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, Louisville, and more). This was one of my favorites so far. The building has a cool vibe and it’s in a good location. It’s an easy walk from restaurants and parking was extremely reasonable. There’s a parking garage right behind the venue and it only cost $2 for me to park from 5:30 until 11:30 or so when the show was over. The venue manager was active the entire night, making sure everything was running smooth and he was super friendly to guests. I was in the first 20 or so people who arrived and waited for about an hour before doors opened. The manager walked through the line and gave the early arriving people a drink ticket to get one free drink from the bar (can’t beat that!). All staff was friendly and security was active but not invasive (contrary to what the other reviewer stated). I’ll definitely be going back to a show at this place – they’re doing it right!
This is one of my favorite concert venues. Good size, not a bad spot in the place. Great location and great atmosphere. The staff were always professional and on top of things. Standing room only but well worth it.
As my first time visit, i enjoyed the venue. Well kept, clean facility. For what little need there was to interact with staff, they were professional, friendly, and aimed for efficiency. The only 2 forgivable things I dislike are: there is no seating for general admission, yet this applies to any concert here; and then there is the amount of close-quartered crowding at hand. The silver lining about these 2 drawbacks though is that earlybirds can be up close to the stage, and the size of the place makes crowd management easy. That said, if someone were to have either agoraphobia or claustrophobia, this venue is a good place to keep an eye on for your entertainment
Went for purity ring concert last night. First time in Louisville and probably wont be back. Bands were great. Acoustics were good except under the balcony area. Drinks were very expensive. Not well set up to have bathrooms on the sides in the front, constantly moving to let people through. People in general were rude, shoving through us constantly without saying a word. Even had a staff member physically shove through me without saying anything to the point I was about to elbow him until I saw his staff shirt. There was also a guy running circles around the venue running through people, yelling randomly and kicked my wife twice. This is the only bar Ive ever been to where Ive seen someone act so disrespectful and not be talked to or kicked out. It seemed clear this is not a place to go to if you really want to have a good experience seeing bands you love.
Showed up in a wheelchair and immediately felt uncomfortable. Had to explain an internal medical issue. Have a knot on my back from misplaced rods. Lady said what that, I said my back. She said well thats not enough, if you dont want to explain it to me, you can explain it to then as she motioned to two large security guards. Like really lady. Went in to enjoy the show nontheless and never had less than two staff members watching me. Most uncomfortable I have been in 11 years of being in a wheelchair and will never attend this venue again.
A great place to see music. Its a perfect place for artists not quite big enough for The Palace but still deserving of a great stage. The sound is always impressive and for a little extra on your ticket price you can get a great above stage view from the VIP section. A previous review stated that you cant leave during the show... Ive never encountered this. Theyve done hand stamps at all five shows Ive attended there.
Well set up music venue. Space and acoustics are ideal for most shows Ive been to here. Definitely check out the balcony, general admission gets you up there and theres a second bar there if the one downstairs is crowded. Only issue is that the drinks are really expensive, but thats typical of most venues. Still, cant give it five stars if Im paying $9 for a beer that would be half that anywhere else.
Great venue with lots of good music. Only downsides is the overpriced drinks and ticketmaster. And, the occasional attempt to wax older clientele by making all seated area VIP because they cant sell enough tickets.
Im disabled and trying to get tickets for Kid Kentucky on March 18th....I have tried since day they went on sale. Hours to box office is Monday, Tuesday 12pm to 5 pm and Fridays 12pm to 5:30.....no one ever answers phone and all you can do is leave a message.....I have left several and no response!?!? Now tickets are limited!!!!! If I wasnt disabled I could by on line but I have a walker and cant be shoved on! How do I get this resolved?!?! I dont want to ask Don or April Suiters for help on this issue...I want to surprise them...my first outing since covid due to medical issues!
Mercury ballroom discriminated against me before I even walked in the doors I did nothing wrong their security came up to me and didnt announce they were security and grabbed me for no reason and pushed me down hard I didnt know who he was I thought someone was trying to hurt me and he did I missed the concert I been waiting for Im the biggest fan of Im broken hearted and confused why I was treated the way I was this photo is us standing in line I didnt cause problems the ballroom caused problems with me
Great venue! Sound and lighting are fantastic! Staff are VERY friendly and helpful🤘
Cashless is useless. It also discriminatory to bothe the poor and disabled. Wish wasn’t to disabled and poor to buy anything at this place. Also if you don’t clean the credit card machine after every transaction, it’s even dirtier than cash
Great place for concerts, and I love that its all-ages so my music-crazy son can come to concerts with us. My ONLY complaint was the ridiculous cost at the bar...$25 for two PBRs? Seriously?? Ill come back for shows, but will NOT be drinking.
Mostly come here for the metal shows that come to town, but have been to several genres. Have a lenient yet sensible re-entry policy (last i went), but security is always helpful, merch is always set up conveniently, bathrooms are easily located. Bar is easily accessible, however drinks do tend to run high here it feels, but they always have at least one beer for an okay price, considering its a concert venue. Great place, great staff, free street parking after 6, convenient location. It keeps me coming back.
Not the best place to experience a show. 4 buck for a soft drink. You have to pay extra for VIP seating, which is ok, however, they could accommodate people by putting more benches around the perimeter of the room. Not sure if the sound guy was in house and didnt know the bands needs, or if he was part of the band and not use to the houses equipment, but the vocals, drums, bass, keyboard, and guitar were not handled right at the sound board. Not sure if it was a wiring problem, a sound guy problem, or equipment problem, however, hearing the same band on YouTube, at different venues and even last February here at the Mercury, the sound mix was tons better...
The experience wasnt great at all! Made the whole line move to another door all because a young man had a medical emergency and made me and my sister take out purse back to the car because obviously they wont let you bring in a purse if its a certain size! It was way too crowded and you couldnt breathe! The fire alarm went off during the lucky Daye concert and fire fighters showed up shoving folks outta the way!!!!! It was horrible.
Went for a Carcass show, venue was very easy to enter, grab a drink, turn around and watch the show.Bathrooms were quick and the smoking area was super easy to get to and re entry was no big deal.Very efficient music venue, highly recommended. Sound quality was above par.
Very nice Venue . Upstairs had a Separate Bar and Restroom and seating to view the Concert. Very nice and Acoustics were pretty good . Kali Griffin was a Very Talented Young Lady that I believe one day will be will be on the Radio for sure .
Amazing place for a show and I cannot wait to get back there again to see another amazing concert. Great service, great security and great sound system.
Absolute worst experience Ive ever had a a venue. Sweltering heat inside at a sold out show, no room to move, and no reentry allowed or outside area to smoke or get some air. Meanwhile the only what available is 5 dollars for a can of water. In a post-Astro World tragedy world the lack of access to water and heat inside being immediately concerning. The staff (if you can find any, I only saw two people inside) were rude if not outright hostile to concertgoers. I saw get up in a guys face when he expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of a smoking area and threaten to remove him (for his part the concertgoer engaged in no hostility whatsoever). An otherwise great show ruined by a terrible venue experience. It will take a truly once in a lifetime event to get me to ever come back here.
My first time at the Mercury Ballroom. Not as luxurious or comfy as the Palace. Still Im really happy we have this local venue for Acts. I wish they had some feeding on the main floor even along the walls would be nice. Next time I will wear very comfortable shoes. The lighting and sound system system work spectacular
Update: A nice venue with an intimate crowd to stage setting. Saw two of my favorite bands there. One for cheap and the other for free because I won tickets. A good place even though they could still use a better phone system. Also additional ticket fees go to upkeep however Im pretty sure it was only an additional $2 per ticket as opposed to the $7 it was trying to charge online and over the phone.Ive been trying and TRYING to get a hold of someone to talk to on the phone but their automated system is so automated it is virtually impossibly to get a hold of a living breathing person to talk to. I attempted to buy tickets online to which I was being charged a $7 fee per ticket. The same went for attempting to purchase them over the automated phone system. If a ticket price is $20 there is no reason I should be paying any kind of extra fee if I am attempting to do it over the phone. Now I have to go down there to purchase the tickets in person in advance but dont even know if Ill be able to since its impossible to ask a simple question over the phone and I doubt there will even be anyone there even though though theyre supposed to be open for another 2 hours.
Restrooms are clean. Sound and lighting is good. Stage is up high enough to be able to see everything. Plenty of nearby parking.
I always have fun here. Not a huge fan of the no seating/General admission (mostly because Im short and cant see over the tall people that push their way to the front) or drink prices. The staff however are friendly and great at handling whatever situation arises. I would recommend this venue.
Walk the moon was fantastic. Love the venue space. Only issue was a young couple in front of us (early 20s ) that had snuck in liquor to mix with drinks and were wasted before the opening act was done. Spilling drinks all over everyone, collapsing then getting up and falling over into everyone, puking and we are pretty sure also soiled herself. Not a great first half of the show until security finally saw them about 20 min before the show ended and took them out. Definitely need more security.
Great venue!! Ive been coming here for years now. The sound is so good.
I like the venue, but I do not like that they sell fast passes to some of the shows. The bathrooms are generally clean. The staff is friendly, but I have issues with the views from the back. The back is hard to see because the overhang of the balcony. The drink are also pretty over-priced.
Went to a concert and loved the venue, all standing room on bottom floor and would recommend upper vip areas. the drinks were $10-$20 but they had specials as well. good sound even for a rock band.
Love this place. It has a certain charm about it. I wouldnt say its for everyone...its pretty small and it seems like the floor is always a little sticky, but I think thats fair for a venue as busy as Mercury. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. The shows feel personal.
This is a great venue to see live music! The added patio is a nice touch.
Not my favorite music venue in town. While the acoustics are solid, the layout is a bit awkward and creates a number of spots that are less than optimal for viewing, but still satisfactory. Being owned by Livenation is a blessing and a curse, as they get a lot of great shows, but drink prices are absolutely insane, anyone who thinks a 24 oz. High Life for $13 is off their rocker.
Iv been here twice. Its a good place for music! Only thing I would complain about is the price of beer! 14dollars!!! I think thats is just down right ridiculous! They could sell more alcohol if they lowered the price some. I was expecting to pay around 8 not 14. Other than that I like the place!
As far as venues go, sure. The stage is viewable from all over. The sound is good. What I dont like are the following things: The MANY MANY MANY TVs constantly playing ads. I spent a good chunk of the show gazing at one of these TVs just because it was on and my attention span is not great. Also, the drink prices are insane! Whoa, whoa, whoa there, barkeep! Maybe warn a fellah before you charge twelve dollars for a beer! Next time Ill bring my own six pack and chug it outside for two dollars less, thank you!
Awesome venue, great sound and decor. Its the mid-sized venue Louisville has desperately needed for years to attract those awesome acts that cant fill an arena, but would draw too many for a place like Headliners. Saw Motion City Soundtrack on 2/4/15 there and it was an absolute blast. Staff were friendly and helpful, and they have a smoking patio outside where they actually allow you to leave the venue and come back in with a stamp. Ill definitely be going to many more shows there!
Attended the Fozzy Judas Rising Tour. The venue itself was clean. And the staff was friendly. My wife experienced an issue with another patron (dude was drunk, hit on her, and then planted a kiss before stumbling off) and the entire staff was great at resolving the issue and making her feel safe. Great place for a concert.
Nice older Building downtown mainly standing room only with seating Upgrades first come basis on upgrades KINDA EXPENSIVE $40.00 FOR THE TICKET $10.00 FAST PASS & $40.00 FOR SEAT UPGRADE TOTAL $90.00 EACHALSO DRINKS & SNACKS ARE EXPENSIVE
The concert was amazing, the service at this place of business was not worth my time or money. I paid full price for my ticket and spent a lot at the expensive bar that’s not worth it as well. To be kicked out right after the concert in the freezing cold to wait for my ride. I guess being a responsible adult is not something they respect or admire. Worst service I have received there, ever.
Great, small venue! Sound quality is very good and I appreciate that they do a lot of all-ages events.
Best small venue place I have been to in Louisville in awhile. Makes the brown theater look dated (but its still amazing) and attracts more of a modern crowd. Has a full service bar right next to the stage so no need to walk far (great for almost drunk people) and I hear they do alot of local shows for local talent. So thats cool. The best part is the David Bowie painting and the Freddie Mercury painting next to each other. All they need to add in the middle is a sign that says under pressure.
