Came in on a Sunday since I saw this was one of the few meat and three places open. Fried catfish was perfect, the cabbage was the best part of the plate, pintos and cornbread were on point too. Definitely will be making a return trip to try more of their options .

Surprised this place wasnt packed for lunch on a Tuesday. Great lunch cafeteria-style selections - chicken fried pork chops, country style steak, ribs, cabbage, collards - SON!! It was delicious. Guy serving the food was nice, too.

I went once and that will be my first and last time. Went on a Sunday after church, upon entering there was no one seated in the booths, only carryout. This worked for me, but the entire restaurant was dark. The customer service consisted of NO ONE saying hello or welcome, just what do you want? And that was said begrudgingly.Food taste ans quality is not worth going back for and definitely not worth it with the lack of customer service. There are too many other options around Nashville.

If you come here, GET. THE. CATFISH. I have a hard time believing youd find a better place to eat catfish than this restauraunt. Service was quick and staff was polite. Absolutely reccommend to anyone in the area.

Chill, Old school spot with some classic southern food. Inside could use a Lil updating but the food was delicious and hot. Service was homestyle

Food was great but bathrooms were disgusting. And the toilet water runs out into the parking lot! Stinks! That to me says a lot about a restaurant. Will not be going back.

Carol Ann would be rolling over. She was a good friend and would be horrified at the rachet cesspool that it has become. I just had to move from seats where I was advised they were available. Only after I had been sitting there long enough to get my drinks with a clear view of the dance floor told I was in someone elses seat and that they were on the dance floor. None of the individuals sitting in front of me were on the dance previously. I advise the group who I found out later were employees that were off and simply wanted the seats I advise them I didnt see a reservation sign therefore I wasnt moving. They proceeded to call security to ask me to move. Once I told them my side of the story. I was advised I still had to move. A different security employee told me he wasnt my man and didnt have to listen to me at all. I asked to talk to the owner and was told she left for a moment. Once I left my friend said she came right out the back. Carol Anns was once a place where all walks of life of our community could come and feel safe to be ourselves. Carol Anns is now ratchet and the attendees and employees are for the streets. Shame on you for selling your soul for them dollars which I had plenty of. Shame on you for not putting your patrions first. And shame on you for not influencing the culture to rise and be better. I left this review not out of bitterness but out of disappointment. I will never go back to a place that use to be different. Now it has lowered its standards and they were already close to the bottom. Now they are like the song. Scrub the ground. SMH

Oxtails was too salty.. 2 oxtails with side oxtails plates with 2 veggies no bread came up 57.00. I couldnt eat it because it was insanely salty.

Its a nice size club looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but I likes the environment. Great food super seasoned. The crowd was a bit of a let down on a Saturday night. The waitress Ashante like the singer was very sweet I would go back.

I decided to try this place after looking online for a good local soul food place. They advertise everywhere online that the plates are $5.49 for a meat and 2 they have a sign posted new pricing effective immediately $15.99 for a meat and 2 so that was fine I didn’t mind paying for a good plate they did give hefty portions but once I got back to eat it the food was extremely salty I love a good salting but this was beyond edible. I got the Salisbury steak Mac n cheese and greens the meat was tough Mac n cheese was good a moist but again too salty same with the greens. Great service but I came for the food

Wow! What a great we had at Carol Ann’sTuesday nights is live blues music and the band and artists truly delivered. The drinks were priced well and the pour was good. The catfish was fresh and delicious.I highly recommend this place on a Tuesday night if you like live blues music or just socialize and enjoy good food and drinks any other time they are open. I would call it a clean “hole in the wall” type establishment.

The person that answered the phone was rude and hung up after I asked 1st do you have chitterlings today. She replied yes. I asked the cost and she said yeah and hung up. I assumed they were busy and headed that way. What a waste of money on the 2 chitterlings plates. They were so salty that we had to throw them away. The pork chops with gravy was ok

I called this morning just to see if chittlings was on the menu no returned text my brother ordered a vegetable plate my order was chittlings Mac and cheese along with green beans sorry to say but please!!!! The chittlings were very very salted!!!!! And the green beans to much pepper the mac and cheese could have been better lets not forget the cornbread wasnt done in the middle...

The Dj was good. Server walked around us but never asked if we liked to have anything. So we kept our money and enjoyed the Dj.

We were interested in placing a catering order for catfish and began reaching out about a month in advance. We were told to call back when our date was within a week. At that time we were texted a catering menu so we could confirm the pricing which was about $250 for 40 servings of fish. Each serving of fish comes with two pieces of fish so that equaled around $250 for 80 pieces of fish.We called back when our event was within a week. First of all, it’s nearly impossible to get someone on the phone to help you, but when we finally did, the lady was trying to go back on the original price that she said, and was trying to give 40 pieces of fish for more money than what was quoted. We had the picture of the catering menu that she had sent so she had to honor the price that was printed…on HER catering menu that SHE sent. There was no way to pay over the phone or online so someone had to drive there to pay for the order.When I arrive to pay for the order, the lady who takes the catering orders was not present. I had to wait for her to drive from her house to come accept my payment. And yet again she tried to change the pricing. She was going to give me 20 pieces of fish for the same price and then 40 for another price and I said no we agreed on what was written on your menu which is 80 pieces of whole fish for $250. So she called someone and then wrote down the correct quoted price and I paid that day. She asked what time and what day I wanted to pick up my order I said Saturday the 20th at 2 PM and she said that’ll be fine.Saturday the 20th at 2 PM comes no one is answering the phone. I send my friends up there to pick up the order. The lights are off. The doors are shut. There is no one there. We have multiple people calling this establishment & no one’s picking up the phone. Finally someone answers and they proceeded to tell us that “they’re cooking the fish right now. It should be ready soon.” Within 15 minutes, the story changed to they “don’t got no fish” and they “meant to call the day before.”I have never witnessed this level of unprofessionalism from a business before. If you do not have the capacity to honor a catering order, then don’t accept payment for that order. If something came up where they just weren’t able to handle an order of such size then they should have called and made that known.“We meant to call you” is egregious.Lying and saying that someone was cooking order as we spoke is egregious.Me having to REQUEST a refund for food I never received is insane.And then I had to drive back up there to process the refund which was paid by card so it really could’ve and should’ve been done electronically, immediately.Again, wasting my time.I am thoroughly disgusted with Carol Ann’s.The only thing the lady said to me was “sorry about that.” Nothing was done to make it right. I received nothing for my inconvenience and nothing for my time.Terrible business practices & everyone should know.

Catfish made fresh with beautiful light, crispy batter. The fish was cooked and moist! Lovely people, too. The young woman cooking was very friendly and the young man behind the counter was efficient and charming with all of his customers. Seemed like a lot of regulars and if Im ever in the area, I will absolutely be back!

The baked chicken and cornbread were fantastic!! Mashed potatoes were okay, and the greens were just a bit too peppery. Made for a nice, quick, old school lunch.Staff were nice and polite! Laid back vibe. Id go back for the baked chicken alone!

Its a nice bar and grill with great food, music, and servers. Cool atmosphere and if you are a smoker they have a outside area with chairs. Looking for a good time for grown and sexy, well this is the place for you. Enjoy!!

My husband and I really enjoy coming here. Friday Happy Hour is the best! The DJ plays music for the grown and sexy folks like Me & my Man !! We love to dance and this is our place to do that. Food is good. Drinks 2 for 1 !!! How can you beat that! 😜

The Food was okay at best, partially cold. I would never recommend a female enter this place without a firearm or without 2 to 3 friends. It is so so creepy, dirty, intentionally unlit. There are only a few booths inside. It is just flat out weird and seems like a converted strip club that sells food and probably narcotics. Caution!!! Do not eat here or support their business it is wrong that they are still open with the quality of the interior and possibility of crime happening also a clear Fire hazard being almost pitch black inside... gross wrong.... definite 0 star!

Delicious wings and fries! I think these are the best fries ever!!! The Buffalo wing sauce was amazing also. Friendly and helpful staff. Definitely going back!!! I am from the north were wings are plentiful, Nashville doesnt have a lot of good wing places, however this places makes some really good wings. Thank you!!!

Online it states Carol Anns is open at 10:30. I went by at 10:40 and it was closed! Ugh!

Such a fun spot! I look forward to coming again! The live blues music had me dancing the night away! As for the food, I tried the chicken wings, catfish, shrimp, and fries. All fried, all delicious! I obviously dont need to eat like that often, but.... if Im looking for comfort fried food done well...I now know where to come!The servers work hard here. I came on a very busy night, yet there were only 3 waitresses. My hat went off to them, they got the job done! I just wish they had more help.

Limited side dish options, had to wait over 30 minutes for chicken to cook. Out of most drinks, including tea, had to get water. Had heard so many wonderful things, not quite up to par.

Went to Carrol Anns after hours. Good was good nice little place to go out. Good music live DJ he had a little trouble reading the crowd though. Cost to get in and bar you had to pay as you ordered instead of open a tab. I enjoyed my self if in the Nashville area you should stop by after hours.

Its very tight and they NEVER have Dussé $20 a piece to get in and we were only there for like an hour it was too hot and boring some of the music was nice though 👍🏽 that was during I guess they call it club hours but lunch is okay everybodys experience is not gone be the same.

Our experience at Carol Ann was pleasant, our first time there. Soul food served at this location and was very delicious, staff was very nice answered any questions we had. Prices were very comparable within lines of other restraunts. Decor was not shiny and bright it was prefect for a restraunt in service for so many years, enjoyed it. The atmosphere was prefect, if you expect fancy this is not your place to go. Although it is a home town feel to it. They have a bar and bands that play, but not sure when.Nice to see Carol Anns daughter Farah is keeping her dream alive! I spoke with Farah and she was so nice.Would I go back absolutely, would I recommend YES!!!

We had the Catfish and french fries, also the wings. Everything was hot and fresh. Perhaps the best fried fish Ive ever had. The next time Im in town, will definitely go back 😋

I visited Carol Anns for an open mic night. I had such a blast. There was great talent in the building. Carol Anns has a very relaxed atmosphere. Seems like it would be a great place to wind down after work. Its not a coffee place or anything. But they have a good alcohol selection, I seen signs for happy hours that might be worth attending and they have live music sometimes. I also had a fried chicken basket that was great. Nice seasoning, it was piping hot, and crispy. Ill definitely be back!!

This place is great. Went there after church and the food and service was great. It all was seasoned well, not to much, just right. The staff was very friendly. They smiled and held a conversation with you. I will be returning and will tell others how good it is.

DO NOT BOTHER STOPPING!!!! Absolutely Reversed Rasicim at its finest!!!! Went for lunch yesterday while traveling with my brother and was never treated so rudely. We entered the restaurant and witness 2 elderly people leaving and 2 inside sitting at the bar. No body else was there. Should have been my 1st red flag at lunch time and it dead inside but i wanted to get them the benefit of doubt.We were never greated. We sat at the bar and waited. Never was approached by any staff which we seen at least 5 . After waiting what seemed like 30 mins which was actually probably 15 mins with no response we left and took our business and hard working money to someone who appreciated it.

We came from out of town memphis. An we love how they go from a night bar event center at night to a restaurant during the day time. The food was great an very tasty... Will be coming back for sure. Great work guys an keep it up.

It is laid back restaurant/bar. Caters more to a middle aged crowd with a few young adults who knows how to conduct themselves in that type of mature atmosphere. Good music, good food. Parking is not the best. I give the restaurant/bar a 3 star based on my preference.

Carol Anns serves as a night club after dark and it is a nice place to go for happy hour, Mostly because their are older patrons. However they have all tables except maybe two reserved and there is no place to sit unless you pay for a table. Its too small, nothing but a bum of women, so if you go there with a date it doesnt work for me. I probably will be going there for a while./

This place is everything you want on a Sunday (or really any day) after a night filled with too much fun. Super chill quiet vibe, friendly service and the food is always fire. Fried chicken & green beans in particularly are bomb. Even the ice water is magic. Hangover cures 💯.

If I could give this place a zero I would. I went mid-week during lunch and the empty parking lot at lunch time should have been a clue of what was to come. Im not sure where these pictures came from but that wasnt my experience at all. The moment I walked in I noticed it was unusually dark and had a 1970s retro feel to it. Truth be told it felt like I was walking straight into a Pam Grier movie. The owner (whom I didnt know was the owner until later) was sitting at the bar smoking a cigarette and when I asked her a question about the food she basically answered me with a smug look and a shrug and pointed her head in the direction of the girl behind the counter. That young lady was very polite but almost all of the food looked HORRIBLE!!!! As a matter of fact the mashed potatoes were floating in water. It was gross. I got dumplings and two sides, which I could not eat because it had an old basement taste to it and made me sick to my stomach. Every time I ride by it, I do just that....RIDE BY IT. Its possible that I just went on the wrong day at the wrong time but they will never get my money again.

I visited here during club hours on a saturday. They charge everyone $20 to get in. The hookah is over priced for it not to be good. They give you a time frame to smoke the hookah, I believe 30 mins or a hour. They dont move or change the coils on the hookah. Its very tight walking through there how they have the tables setup. The have heater outside but of course they are never on bc they said they are out of the propane that runs them. Its a mixed crowd in there....Please get DUsse bc not everyone wants to drink hennesy, crown, and remy. Thanks.

Let me start by saying that the staff is nice...but totally disorganized and keep forgetting Im sitting here. The meat and 3 food is horrible - everything looks like it has been sitting under the hot lamp for a week. I asked for coffee with my lunch and that took 20 minutes - and I am the only customer in here. I heard this was a good home cooking joint, but very disappointed. Also the whole bar and buffet area is cluttered with junk and generally dirty.

Friends and i went primarily for Wings and fish. We got there around 5:30 on Sunday and was told the cook starts cooking at 6. We were good with that, so we ordered 2 for 1 drinks. As we were waiting 30Minutes several people started coming in. Once the food was cooked those several people received their food before us. I went to the bar and waitress to ask where was our food. The response from the guy whom was taking out the food from the kitchen was be patient. Really is this how they treat you 🤔. I will never ever go there again

It says a blues club but it was a loud hip hop club. A lot of people ordered food Im guessing it was good. A double shot of crown was $40 too pricey and the men there were creepy. Also located in a rough part of town.

Don’t even bother ordering through Door Dash or anything like that because your order will get canceled by some random unprofessional person. I will not ever order anything else at that place again. I mean, it’s not like the food is that good anyway. I’ll give a 2.5 stars for the effort. I’m just going to stick with my 5 star soul food restaurant and never order from this place again!

I didnt get a chance to stay and enjoy. It a small, yet popular place for adults to have food, adult beverages, dance, and enjoy live music from time to time. We couldnt find a seat is the reason why we left. I do plan to go back, but get there early.

Buffet style. We tried ribs, catfish, pulled pork, beans, mac n cheese and slaw. Everything was good . Peach cobbler was awesome. Weekends they switch to a night club, better get a table in advance...

Went to a concert. Had to get my money back. No organization. Paid for seat, people were standing up in front of people, and worst, the people were being seated according to who bought tickets first. The ticket stated general admission only. The venue is small. They even sold seats to people where the person was seated out of sight of the stage, which meant you had to stand to see the artist. Worst venue ive been to. Wont be going again ever.

After waiting 30 minutes for my food the cashier comes and tell me they didnt have the flavor of wings I wanted after going through the flavor that was on the menu they didnt have any so I asked for plain finally got the plain so I asked for some ranch and ketchup they didnt have either said they were out of them both I just asked for my money back and some guy comes up and refunded me my money didnt speak or anything gave the money to the cashier rolled his eyes and went on his way the cashier gave me my money didnt apologize or anything the business is trouble will never step a foot in that place again

Drop in for a lunch, bbq, green beans, macaroni cheese, & cornbread. My wife had smoked neck bones, green beans, sweet potatoes, Whiting fish, and peach cobbler for desert. Our portions were excellent, enough for dinner as well. The meat had an excellent smoked taste to, the green beans were seasoned perfectly, the macaroni and cheese was very good. Caol Annes will frequented by us each time we come home now.🙂👍

Live music was cool and there was a nice older crowd. The food was actually pretty good. Unfortunately, it took 2 hours and 3 waiters for use to get it.

I Ive only been there twice but both times I had a spectacular time. Live music good food and no Rap music,. Ole School at its best! 5 thumbs up as far as I am concerned.

We visited Carol Ann’s today Sunday afternoon at lunchtime and our food wasn’t edible. Both my husband and I ordered the turkey and dressing, mac and cheese, turnip greens, and cornbread. We was only able to eat the Mac and cheese and turnip greens(I believe was actually collards). The cornbread was half done. We’ve eaten here on several occasions but today was awful. I tried to call but the hold was too long. Furthermore, one of the servers isn’t the friendliest or neatest preparing the food. She slings the food on the plate as if you’re interrupting her day or she doesn’t want to serve you. The first visit I noticed but I thought she was having a bad day, but this is everytime we visit the restaurant...smh.

The last two times weve been here was a bit unimpressive. A couple years ago this place was a lot better. But today I decided to give them another try. Especially since their Salisbury steak was on menu.So I live approximately 32 miles away. I checked the website and it said they open at 10:30am. So great, Ill skip breakfast and get there as theyre opening up. Well I got there a little early. Around 10:05. So I and my two kids decided wed wait till 10:30. As 10:30 rolled around we went to the door but it was locked. I looked at the huge sign outside and sure enough it said they open at 10:30 just as the website said. I Looked inside and most lights were off. Now it was 26 degrees outside so we went back to the truck to give them a call.I called and someone answered hello. No,Carol Anns Cafe, just hello.I asked if they were open and the person said 11:30. No,thanks for calling but we dont open until 11:30. So I said, The sign outside and the website says you open at 10:30. The persons reply was another one liner with a rude tone, really? Then they hung up.Now this experience coupled with an event I had catered by them about five years ago prompted this negative review. At the event we had catered by them they promised the food on time. I suggested a few ideas to ensure the promptness they again promised there will be no delays. I offered to give them a map. They said they had a gps. So after showing up two hours late with cold fried chicken and fried catfish the event was less than favorable for my 140 guest.Please dont waste your time going here. When the food is good its the best but lately that hasnt been the case.

By far the best country food I have had since I moved from Georgia to Tennessee. The mac & cheese was soooo good! Me and my family definitely enjoyed their food! I made sure I got a menu before we left for our next visit lol

My expectations were greatly disappointing. The service was horrible! The food was aweful! The atmosphere was not welcoming and the decor was terrible. They didnt have any menus, no condiments on the tables, didnt inform us that refills arent free ($2.00), and seems to me that false advertising is going on because whats on the website isnt what we experienced!! We were charged $19 dollars for nachos, lettuce, tomato with NO meat, little to nothing cheese, no sour cream and a burnt hamburger french fries 12 oz coke in a cup and water!!! I was very DISAPPOINTED!!! We will NOT return EVER!!!

The food is always fresh and hot. Great price and delicious food. Love this place. The friendly staff earned the 5th star. Everyone there is so nice.

In fairness, I was never actually inside Carol Anns. December 29, 2014 I headed over to the restaurant for some good home cooking and a show. To my surprise the parking lot was empty and the lights were off. I called the number on the sign and a woman answered. I asked about the restaurant and she said were closed. I said well, the hours say different and theres a scheduled show on the website. She repeated were closed. Having driven three hours from GA I was put out to say the least. I was offered no apology, no suggestion to stop in tomorrow or any other day. Just were closed. I know it wasnt personal, but personally speaking, I wont be stopping in again.

I just love the atmosphere....great DJ, keeps the crowd moving...good band, good food and the DRINKS, lets say the bartenders know their craft...Friday and Saturday night parties are just what you need after a long work week.

I use to love the food here but now every time I go the doors are locked. On 3 or 4 separate occasions, I’ve driven to the location only to find it’s closed. Keep in mind their social media and google hours state otherwise. Have to do better. Would not recommend unless you want your time and gas wasted

Went because had an uber eats order and it was a very racial situation. If by any means your caucasian dont step foot in this restaurant waited an hour for an order of wings in which they hadnt dropped them yet then asked if I wanted them to be dropped. Then took back to the kitchen for some odd reason and made me wait an extra 10 min. Definitely wouldnt recommend was very upsetting. They dont even deserve a star.

On a whim, I decided I wanted some country cooking for lunch. Found Carol Anns on Ubereats and thought Id try. OMG! This is some legit good food. I highly recommend the greens and squash. I will definitely eat here again.

Good food and the hot water cornbread is my favorite here. They are definitely always open weekdays for lunch. Service is friendly, portions and price are good as well.

Good food good vibes as a black man I felt at home there it was a party going on the night I was there and I was from out of town so I didnt know what to expect but I had a great time just waiting for my food made me want to stay but my wife was in the car and the party was 20$ a head 🗣️ so she wasnt having it Lol 😂

Ordered takeout via Ubereats. Got a call they were not serving one item, requested different, that was fine. Ordered mild chicken, it was not mild, was a chicken sandwich and was served on two pieces of soggy bread. Brussel Sprouts tasted like they were not cleaned and turnip greens were mostly stems. Ordered a piece of pecan pie didnt receive. This was a horrid experience - will not order again and will warn people away from this place.

OMG! This is the best home cooked soul food you will ever eat! You will savor every bite and watch out for biting your fingers lol! It was so good I was full but couldnt stop eating. I guarantee you will leave there full and happy.

Enjoyed the atmosphere, the wing basket, and drinks. You need to get there early or you will be standing. The music is the perfect old school and contemporary mix.

A side of Nashville the tourists never see, but should. Service is slow but its OK because youre going to be there a while. Yes, the music is that good. Youll want to relax and stay there all night.

Came out of town for my birthday and I had the best time. Good drinks and food and the people was so nice . You want to party with no drama and with grown folks go to this spot.

Carol Anns Southern Home Cooking is the best. Love the fried catfish fillet for lunch or dinner. They have about 12- vegetables to choose from, seasoned just right. Desserts are awesome.

Ive visited this place on Sunday for breakfast. Good variety of food at the deli, so you can quickly pick something up and eat. Ive tried meatloaf with mash potatoes. They were pretty good.

Theres great food on takeout or good seating, and formost on Tuesday and Fridays great live entertainment with live well known artist. A-star on entertaining its customers, on that note I tip my hat, indeed.......

I went expecting a band but got a DJ and not so inviting atmosphere. The bar put drinks on my tab that I didnt order. A basic hole in the wall.

Food was great! Fall off the bone, tender ribs, broccoli and cheese, great cobbler , sweet potato casserole all wonderful. Tempted to lick my plate clean. Lol Thanks

Pitiful...first, theyll never answer the phone, afraid its gonna be an order....then I asked if u showed up 30 minutes before closing would I need to worry about food quality, and they were unable to answer...I been in the restaurant business for years...some folks should never do it, cuz youre not capable of running it as it should be ran. What a mess.

The hottest R&B Live Music Venue near downtown Nashville. Tasty food & drinks, by the way home-cooked food for lunch everyday. Its like going to grannys house.

The meats are delicious, the sides although they didnt taste like can veggies they werent moms Id say they are average.

Showed up twice on a sunday more than half an hour before closing and was told they were already closed. This is always a lady, dont know what happened to the guy that use to work on Sundays.
