There are so many reasons that my friends and I keep coming back to Play over and over. My first visit to play was in 2016 and I continue to be wowed by the Queens and the employees.First, the drag queens are absolutely top notch. Vanity is hilarious, kind, and humble. Aquamarine is always so remarkable, Corlis’ makeup is always spot on, and Deception has been a personal favorite since my very first visit 8 years ago.The bartenders are great and I always feel like I can approach them. I always feel safe here and on the very rare occasion that something needs to be addressed, the bartenders are quick to help.Play continues to be a favorite.
I really hate to write this, but I was visiting friends for Pride and the bar itself seemed so great based on what people had told us, but the experience wasn’t that great.A lot of this is probably because it was Pride weekend, but the service was not on par with the price. Just to be ultra clear: the service we did get was great! The bartenders were working as hard as they could, and were super friendly to all the guests. The drinks were good too.The big issue was that $25/person for cover and $90+ for drinks for 3 did not match the service id expect. It was an hour+ just to be served, and the bar was incredibly short staffed. Bathroom lines? I get it. Lines in general? I get it, but at that price I expected extra staffing to handle the rush of Pride weekend. Someone threw up right by the door and it just sat there for an hour as people walked through, which I get it lol it’s bar on Pride night, but this was RIGHT by the door guy.The staff I did get to interact with were awesome, just not enough for the event. Not sure why they were so short staffed but yeah, maybe next year.
The drag performers were AMAZING and gave such a great performance. the problem came when the announcer told me and my friends we weren’t allowed to dance along with the queens. we were having fun, dancing with the queens to their songs, and we tipped every queen, some with cash and others on venmo, and were told if we wanted to dance we had to go to the floor and not “interrupt the show.” we were in no way being disrespectful and again were tipping each of the queens. were we expected to sit the whole time? we later had people come up to us saying we were bringing the energy and brought up the atmosphere, so it seemed like no one was bothered by us. again, the queens were absolutely amazing, but it didn’t feel great being called out like that.
Just a heads up that I am under 21, they allow you in but charge $5 extra, and also give you a different colored wristband and mark your hands with big black markers.3 separate times I was approached by the same security guard, accusing me of rubbing the marker off of my hands and making me reapply, when I was simply drinking water and dancing, not acting belligerent or trying to sneak alcohol. A bit ridiculous. On top of that, the wristband I had was very obviously a different color saying I was under 21, so either way I’m not sure what the big deal was.So, under 21 crowd, you can definitely come here, but prepare to pay $5 more than everyone else only to be harassed all night by security.
One of my highlights of Nashville! So much fun to go to, watch, drink dance and play! I recommend going here to see one of the shows and enjoying the dual dance floors they have. The Drag show was great with great music, dance and beautiful stage performances. The Drinks are excellent and poured strong.I will definitely have to come back for another good time.
This club used to be so much fun. I’ve been going here for 15+ years, but since The management has changed. They have turned it into a straight bar. They’re more concerned with posting pictures of straight guys with their shirts off then the actual community that helped this business thrive. The patrons notice it and the employees also notice it. Joey really needs to be more aware of what’s going on inside this place.
Had my first clubbing experience here and it was SO MUCH FUN! The atmosphere was not at all exclusionary to people under 21(save for the drinks) and the music was amazing the dancefloor ambiance was awesome! 10/10 Will be coming back.
Been going here like three times a month for the last year and a half. Such a breathtakingly amazing experience from the greeters at the door, bartenders, djs, security, and of course the phenomenal performers. Just love spending time at this location.
Best night ever for our group of hockey moms! So much fun. Amazing drag show, affordable drinks and great service. We danced until well after midnight. Thanks for a great night!
The drag queens were absolutely amazing !!! I came in with two other people Friday night and one of my friends got kicked out because he had puked in the club, no worries ! They were extremely nice abt it. However, I went to use the bathroom and a man had followed me in the stall. I was nearly blacked out at this point. Plz plz plz stay with your group. Nashville is a dangerous place !!
This is mostly certainty the best club in Nashville. It has the most accepting environment. The best bartenders, the most affordable prices.Everyone encourages everyone, this is definitely a place you can just go and have fun & I’ve lived in Nashville for 15 years
Great space. The owners invested a lot and it turns out a big crowd. The drag queens are very entertaining and the dance floor has a good sound system with boxes for dancers.
Play has always been an incredible atmosphere for queer and gay individuals. I would 100% recommend it to anyone gay or straight who are looking for a fun time!
Had the WORST night at play. i have gone many times before, but was told that the same ID i had used countless times to enter play was a fake and that i needed to leave, even intimidated by a large security guard. i was told i needed to call the police to check the id, which they explained was not possible due to other ongoing investigations. eventually, after my second time requesting another solution, they told me i could supply a second form. mutltie members of staff followed me outside, watched me and whispered about me while i was crying and trying to resolve the issue, and ignored me when i was finally allowed to enter the premises. i love play and their regular queens but am discouraged and upset about the uninviting behavior i encountered from their staff.
Got to play paid for 2 people and got a drink then like there only 10 min and light.came on said.closing with the time change it closing now. Why charge to get in 10 minutes before closing. People at door should have said they were closing but they had no proble. Taking the money! Very shady place for doing that! Definitely think different of this place. Beware before you go to pay for nothing!
This place is honestly really great but some bad eggs make their way in, my friend got a wallet stolen directly of their bag and their card was used at the bar! wallet was not found.
Overpriced for what it is, but what really set me off was the inconsistent drink prices. I was ordering the same drink and payed $7 one time and $10 another. the atmosphere feels like one big money grab.
Visited for a friends 40th birthday and it was a FUN night out. Lots of space to spread out...dance or watch the amazing drag king and drag queen performances. I only docked it a star bc it took a long while to get a drink. You can reserve booths online but we did not do that. I spotted a few bachelorette groups when we first arrived.
This NASHVILLE bar has some major Homophones working for security at the front exit door… thanks Jeremy… wouldn’t even shake my hand after he looked at me like I was diseased…. If you’re gay I don’t recommend this bar on a Friday night… possibly Saturday. And just fyi, it’s a gay “friendly” bar
I have been coming to Play for over 2 yrs. In that 2 yr period it has went way downhill. I go to dance but it has got so bad I don’t even want to go anymore. It used to be a whole lot busier than it is now. There is no DJ and the music they play is just remixes like I’m going to the jersey shore or a middle school dance. Drinks have went way up and no consistency on pricing each bartenders refuse to serve you if they don’t like the way you look. It’s just not the same as it once was.
The most beautiful queens I have ever seen. So much fun. The host was fantastic.
The place is very nice, but a person from the bar took advantage of the fact that he didnt speak Spanish and charged me more money for the drinks. I realized that I charge more when I buy the second drinks, since the second person who took care of me charges me less for the same drink. Very abusive it seems to me that seeing that Im a foreigner and I dont speak English, I think that I dont know how to handle my money
I went on Friday 9-17-21. I found the $20 cover charge to be quite excessive. I was worried I had come on a night DJ Seizure was playing the music because I had heard how bad his track selections are. Luckily, we came on a night DJ Remedy was in control. One track flowed seamlessly into the next. I shook his hand at the end of the evening to let him know how impressed I was. Things were very lively on the dance floor. However, I have never seen a wetter floor. I had to minimize my movements when dancing for fear of slipping. The drag show was energetic and the audience seemed to really get into the acts. I didnt appreciate being charged $16 for a Bulleit Bourbon double and then am charged at the other bar $19 for the same drink (I just deducted a few bucks off the tip I gave the second bartender). Both sides were packed so this isnt a place to go if youre worried about COVID. It seems to be popular with gays as well as straights. I understand its popularity.
This is delayed from a visit on 8/11/23. We started at Tribe next door for dinner/drinks before the show. After that experience we were nervous when we found out that this place was the same owners. Ill say, COMPLETELY different experience. My bartender, Rylee B, was super friendly and helpful all night with drinks and constantly breaking bills for us. We didnt eat and I dont think they have food on the Play side which is the only reason that is marked lower. I wish it was posted on the website that cards could not be used to pay the cover fee; I wouldve brought more cash to avoid ATM fees. Aside from that, we had a blast. We reserved a table up front and stayed for the first two shows of the night. My friend was visiting from Austin and after a horrible 1st experience at Tribe, he had a blast here at Play. Definitely work on your Tribe staff, but the staff over at Play was amazing, the performers were great, and we will definitely be back!
Cant think of a better 18+ club in Tennessee. If youre looking for a very safe and fun environment to bring someone out for their first time at a nightclub this is it. They pride themselves on having a fun, toxic/creep free scene and it shows. Very accepting. They have a cover charge but considering its 18+ and you get a free performance show out of it you cant complain. My family friend Tonya also runs free salsa nights here every Wednesday and are always a good time. Sending my well wishes to all staff at PLAY. Thank you for not changing throughout the years and maintaining the same great experience.
Wednesday night bachata 💃🏼 super fun! Worth it!! And the free parking across the street w/ QR Code is amazing bonus
Service was terrible. Gay guy at the front was completely disrespectful to me (gay) and my family accompanying me. Thumbs down and didnt even go in.
I was in charge of planning a bachelorette party of 16 girls (which is not an easy feat!) and we came here for a drag show one night based off of a recommendation from one of my close family friends. We had an absolute blast!! The queens were so talented and we were blown away by how entertaining the show was. I would definitely like to come back the next time I’m in Nashville, and I’d recommend Play to anyone!
Be prepared for $20 entrance fee and bar is kinda pricey. I recommend being drunk to enjoy the dance floor since the DJs are never good. The service from bartenders could be better a few seemed like they hated their job so I’m sure it’s hectic on busy nights. But all in all a staple in Nash queer scene and recommend for drag race fans they hold some cool events with some queens.
Had a great time with friends. Judgement free & wonderful atmosphere. Good vibes!!!
Rude and disrespectful service, never again and I will never recommend it to my friends to visit here. Drag show was awesome tho.
Bring a lot of dollar bills! These drag show girls are fabulous and work hard to keep the crowd entertained. Dance flirt opened at 10am which is a little late imo, but Im old so there we go
I come to play A LOT with my girlfriend. The one thing I will say is that recently, the ATMs at the front have started to charge double the amount they used to for withdrawals. It used to be $3 but now it looks like it’s $6. The drinks from Ariel are amazing (she’s the best bartender IMO). The drag bar is great and we always have a lot of fun.
Ive been to a lot of LGBTQ+ bars all across the United States and across the world including Amsterdam, London, Paris, South Africa, East Asia, and many more, but Ive never felt so unwelcomed as I did at Club Play in Nashville. The bartenders are unfriendly and tried to cheat me out of my money. Management had to review the video footage from the bartender to give me my correct change back. The bartender got an attitude and didnt even apologize. I will never visit Nashville’s bars again. Definitely not friendly for minorities within the LGBTQ+ community. They make it very apparent they dont want black people in their establishment, which Im good with that and glad I know now. Word to my other black LGBTQ+ family, this is not it in Nashville. Do yourself a favor and dont go.
Took our son for his 18th birthday….Did not expect to have as much fun as I did. Hands down the most fun ever!!!!! The performers were amazing, staff was amazing, can’t wait to go back! We support Play!!!
Im conflicted about Play. I’ve been there plenty, but can’t honestly say it’s a great place. Drag is decently entertaining. Bartenders are decent. Drinks are slightly pricey. Security breathes down your neck. Cover feed are insane. However, I do regularly have fun so I can’t bash on it too much. After all, LGBTQ spaces are few and far between so beggars can’t be choosers. 4 stars feels fair.
Worst “gay” club of my life. 90% girls and the guys who were there were straight with their wives. Avoid at all costs
I wanted to love this place so bad but I get more disappointed the more I go. Their is no space in this place! You have to slip and slide past everyone. I have been to two different drag shows now and I am too short to see each time. I want to love it so bad but it definitely needs to be expanded. When it comes time to dance their is nothing but 18 year old kids dancing and taking off their clothes. The music is very difficult to dance to and it’s just not fun. I wish I liked this place but it’s just not it.
I have been going to play for 4+ years now, the queens are top notch and the atmosphere is amazing. Loud music and flashing lights, mix that with the best biological women Im Tennessee and you have a recipe for a nuclear night.
Super nice bartenders, always a great show. Very clean and welcoming to all.
The DJ was incredibly racist and wouldnt even bother playing any Latin artists and waved us off for trying to get bad bunny played, the music was terrible as a result and the dance floor cleared out fairly quickly since DJs do not understand what people want to listen to in this day and age and played trash music. Do not come here for a good time other than the drag shows and the cover fee was $15 cash only
I go every Wednesday, Thursday and most the time on Saturdays. The dance floor is big enough for the people they have on the days I go. They have enough space for the space they have for the tables and chairs. You just have to get there early to get a seat. The restrooms are clean and well maintained. The staff are very nice and friendly. I know everytime I go outside they always open the door for me. Grey and Scott the ones that works by the door. They are amazing. Very friendly and respectful. They treats you like you are part of the family there. The bartenders are amazing. They know how to make a drink. Once they get to know you, you never tell them what type of drink you want, they know what you want and how you want it. The drag show are outstanding. It takes a lot of courage to do what they do. I really want to thank everyone for all the hard work yall do to make it the best place to attended in Nashville. Thank you..
Excellent place to make memories with the LGBT community. PERO, they don’t play música latina that much when Latinos predominant there. I wish they would do it more often.
I had so much fun!! If i didnt have to get on the road so early, i wouldve closed it down. I cant express how much fun this place was and how safe and welcoming! Thank you to all the performers!! Cant wait to come back!
They mistook my friend for someone else and kicked her out despite us telling them they weren’t the person they thought we were and banned my friend for 30 days. They refused to talk to us after asking multiple times. Only go here if you hate women apparently.
This is my go-to dance spot in Nashville. By far the best energy if you’re looking to dance the night away or meet some new friends (I’ve made a few myself)! Great music, great drinks, and even better people!
Great place to stop in while you are visiting Nashville! The bartender Riley, is AMAZING!! Within minutes my friends had their drinks. Amazing drag queen shows & staff, will definitely be back next time in im Nashville.
Play Dance Bar is the best gay bar in town, however all are welcome. Great shows and caring staff. No harassment is allowed and good times are to be had. They even have coat check available on Friday and Saturday nights.
Exploits LGBT community with large cash only cover. Will not be returning 👎
Best time ever!! Went with a bachelorette group and we had the time of our lives. The queens were amazing. The bartenders were so great. Trey, our bartender was the best we have ever had. He was so much fun, so personable, so attentive. I will come back whenever I’m in Nashville! Thank you so much for an incredible night!!!
Went with two other girlfriends last night for her 21st birthday, first time for me personally going to a club and honestly it was a lot of fun. Felt very safe and both the staff and other club goers were friendly and kind! The shows they had at the first stage were entertaining and the line up was great! Bartenders were on it and the drinks were delicious. Dance floor was loads of fun as well, spent hours at this place without even realizing it, a really good way to end a night of celebration!
I ADORE Play! My friends and I used to drive a half hour every Wednesday to attend their free college nights! The Queens (all hail!!) Are not only incredibly talented, but also very kind and loving to their patrons. They were even sweet enough to remember our names and take pictures with us in between songs! We really appreciated having a safe place to go to be a part of the gay community while we lived in Nashville. One time at play, a drunk person started harassing me. When my friends informed the front desk, the club security immediately removed and banned the person from the premises, no questions asked. I really REALLY appreciate that my situation was taken seriously by the staff. We love you guys and we miss the Princess and the Innocence of Beauty! We will be back to visit as soon as possible!
They took Advantage of having my card information and tipped their self $75 without my permission.
Went to see the drag show this weekend on Saturday. We went as a small group of 4 for a bachelorette party. We reserved a table by the stage and it was right up at the front which was cool. Upon entering everyone was super friendly and the bartenders were very nice and cool. Drinks were great prices and good. The show was AMAZING!!! All the performers are so talented and absolutely blew our minds. The princess was my personal favorite! She was cool enough to take a picture with me after the show. Such a great time and I would highly recommend seeing a show !!!
Great drag show and great DJ, as always! Originally my boyfriend and myself thought we were being overcharged for drinks when we were given the incorrect receipt to sign. Easy mistake to make! Joe reached right out to make sure our card statement was accurate and was very helpful and attentive. I will definitely recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a fun and friendly atmosphere when visiting the Nashville area!
What more is there to say? This is the flagship gay bar/ dance club in Nashville. They have a lovely cast of drag performers and a huge dance floor. You can reserve tables and booths for special events to get a front row seat at a drag show and probably get to participate by getting asked some questions by the MC. Look for special events that you can participate in by dressing up to avoid paying a cover charge.
Everything was great except most of the staff is rude or cruel now. I can understand that people are drunk but that dosnt give you a reason to be mean. This is pointed at the front desk people
Went last night with my bridal party and had a blast! Queens were all gorgeous and AMAZING! Bartenders were doing a great job and drinks were very nicely priced! I will definitely be making this a permanent must go stop for future Nashville trips. Great atmosphere as well except the ones who tried to block the stage with their chairs but they were quickly called out lmao.
First time going with my fiancé and we had an absolute blast! The bartender was amazing and the drag show is a definite must see if you get a chance to go! Next time we come down to Nashville we are going back.
I love play! They have the best cocktails and I’m so glad I celebrated my 21st birthday there! The club is lively and fun and the shows are wonderful. The performers are lovely as can be and do one hell of a job! Keep it up play! (I do hope that they can eventually make the place bigger though!)
I’ve been going since I turned 18 and everything was great until last Saturday. My fiancé went up to the bar and said it was her birthday because it was and he offered to give her free mozzarella sticks and she went up there three different times to check on it. We both wasted our time because they said they ran out and then when the dance part opened up, I really wanted to mozzarella sticks so when I went over there and I asked, they said they had them and they were out within 10 minutes my understanding of the whole situation is why couldn’t she get any oh and also the second bartender tried to tip himself 10 extra dollars without permission and then when I went to go pay for the mozzarella sticks, the guy literally tipped him so three dollars it was so dark in there that I couldn’t see it it updated my card the next day yall need to fix this
Its basically the only dance bar & gay bar worth going to in Nashville. Canvas is lame, Tribe is usually empty, and Trax is just tragic. I hardly ever go. Ive been in Nashville 2 years and been maybe 3 times. Its good for dancing, but theres a 20 dollar cover at least on any given night. And, Im sorry, but nowhere in Nashville is worth a $20 cover. You can get the exact same and better in top tier cities around the country for free. Im not into drag, but they have that. The music they play is usually old... like from the 90s and early 2000s. Sometimes its a vibe... but after a while its like... can we join the modern era please? The drinks could be stronger. Its packed on Fridays. Getting a bartender to look at you is a special ring of hell. There are like 3 spaces inside and a large outdoor back patio which I like. Idk... Im from San Francisco, so my experience with gay bars is like, top quality. This is... just okay. I wouldnt go to it if I lived in NYC or SF or LA. But... for Nashville, where else will you go? Fun place to dance and I havent had any real negative experiences, but overall its just okay.Edit Jan 21, 2022: I went for the first time this year. Its been maybe 5 months. Play unfortunately has a LOT of straight people inside lol. Its ironic... I saw tons of heteros making out all over the place. I also spoke to a guy who was mad another man hit on him in the bathroom. He was shocked and appalled. Im like... its a GAY BAR GTFO?!?!
The best place to dance in nashville hands mf down
Best drag show I’ve been to in a while! One even did a K.Flay song and I SCREAMED!! Bartenders are super attentive! Play attracts the kind of people who are kind to people, and every interaction I had with other patrons were positive and lovely! Can’t wait to pay them another visit next time we’re in Nashville!
A little disappointed that it was after 10pm before anyone showed up, or the staff/bartenders really started working. After 10 it was great. Bartenders were on point, and the drinks were appropriately strong for the prices. Took my daughter here for her 21st birthday, and started slow, but by the time we left, she was very happy. Drag show was very good. The Queens were truly royalty.
Me and a friend went here last Thanksgiving weekend and it was really a bomb! We enjoyed a lot especially the music. Probably the DJs were very good that night! We loved All the mixes and music they played! It was mix of everything in general Pop with good mix. I have been to many clubs except Vegas, this is the second best I had so far!! Will definitely come again! 😉
Great place, loads of fun. Absolutely gorgeous drag queen shows. Also the bartenders are very nice and gave me and my friends water without charged when we were so tired from dancing. Though there are some creepy gropy men there I would say I felt safer at this bar than others.
Ive gone to play more than once before giving a one star to see if this was a one time occurrence. The place is nicely set up but i cant shake the fact of how bad the DJ is here. How does he play Lion King theme on the dance floor and think this is good??? There was another night that he mixed titanic then changed it to Jay-Z without any blend. If you ask anyone that has gone here they will tell you the music is trash.
Always have a great time at Play! The drag shows are incredibly entertaining and the DJ plays good music. The bartenders are the best, Matt is always super nice, attentive, and helpful. He makes sure you have a good experience even when the bar is packed. Definitely give Play a visit!
This is the first place I ever realized that there was a bigger world out there and that I might possibly be gay. (Homeschooled from Clarksville). Thank you Sara Riley and the beautiful humans that put so much love and passion into this place (especially in a time that gross politics are trying to erase us). Looooove Play Dance Bar!!!
I was better off staying at the straight bars with $0 cover charge and getting a better experience. The $15 cover charge is a quite excessive for a place under renovation.Extremely crowded so if you’re sensitive to social distancing this is not a place I would recommend. However the drag show gets a 5/5! Amazing performers definitely the highlight of the club.P.S. if you have a bubble butt beware for a$$ grabbers all around.
Have always had a great experience. Big dance floor and lots of people and all very friendly! The Drag show is great even though I’m a straight feller everyone is there to have fun. Bathrooms are equal gender but privacy is accessible the best club I think in Nashville!!! Hands down drop the mic ✌️ peace out!!!
Play has an exciting and care free atmosphere, which is want you want from a good night club. I have never had a bad time at Play. The dance floor is always popping and the drag show is great. You do not have to be a member of LGBT community to have a good time here. My boyfriend and I love coming to Play when we feel like a night of drinks and dancing. At Play everyone is respected for who they are and people can be their true selves.
I went last night too expensive for the service and drinks, the only good part is the drag show, it’s dirty, smell awful, and the service is terrible. Bar tenders are rude they give me hot beer I ask for a change and they said that they won’t do it. That everybody is drink it like that also very disrespectful to said it. Why cover is only in cash?? Is so annoying do 2 lines to get in. Now the main thing is the music. OMG is that Dj even gay? Is that a gay club? Is that a Dj? So wrong, you have to be to drunk to have fun in there I won’t recommend this place
Listen. The drag shows are phenomenal, but queer culture has left Play. What was once a haven for the dolls has gone the Nashville way and is now a lifeless dance floor filled with straight couples and black’d out bachelorettes stumbling into one another, off beat, on a sticky dance floor.Take the 20 dollars you’d spend on the cover and go anywhere else, as it seems every gay person else already has.
The drag show here, and the big drag bus were the highlights of my daughters bachelorette weekend in Nashville!!!I raised my daughters watching RuPauls Drag Race, and To Wong Foo since they were little. We have always been amazed and enamored with the skill, talent, and beauty, of these wonderful ladies. Our first live drag show did not disappoint, and the drag bus was so much fun. I cannot recommend them enough! A special shout out to our favorite Corlis. She was on the bus with us and then performed in the show that night. She is as sweet as she is beautiful!! You have some forever fans here in KY girl!!
Ive been here twice and both times had a great time. The Drag Queen performers are awesome and I enjoyed the shows. The dance floor is huge, not small like other places, and the DJ is like no other. Not to mention all the bar tenders are YUMMY! I definitely recommend this place.
I absolutely enjoyed my night here. Everyone was extremely nice and welcoming, the shows were extremely entertaining and fun. The drinks are also strong, so you’ll for sure have a good time. Definitely a must visit place!
Cant say enough great things about Play, its literally my favorite bar in Nashville. The queens are funny, witty and constantly outdoing themselves in the creativity department. Truly a stellar experience from entry to exit. The staff couldnt be nicer and my regular bartenders, Matt + Leah know my drink as soon as I walk in the dance bar (Saturday nights). They also know when I need to have a soda water instead of that next tequila soda, ensuring a hangover free morning. LOVE this BAR!
The drag show was fun. Nicole was a great performer. The mixed drinks seemed watered down. I didnt see a single shot that wasnt mixed with a chaser. I bought a round and it came out the same.
Had I had any other experience tonight (as I had been here before) I would have absolutely recommended the establishment.Their marketing was poor (queens not performing on the nights they’re scheduled), to the point where you are seated in one spot for the entire night (hours). Which - I understand COVID - but the lack of information/marketing on their Facebook and website over the seating situation and the queen situation.Bartender was as phenomenal. If you’re going to charge 21+ a cover charge ($15) , and pay to travel from Florida - only to be told that the queens scheduled that night were not performing. I’d expect the scheduled performance or a discussion about the cover charge for said queens/arrangements not made on their advertisement. The management was super nice when discussing the issue, but offered absolutely no resolution.Had this been any other reputable/professional establishment - they would have stood behind their marketing/errors.They do not. I highly recommend against chancing the visit here if you have other locations as an option.
The drag show was very awesome and entertaining. The beers were fairly priced but the cocktails were a little bit on the expensive side. I am visiting from another state and maybe that is the norm the area for the drinks. Over all good experience and fun place to come and hang out.
This is a typical club/dance bar with 2 main rooms. 18+, men, women, trans, etc are all welcomed here. They have drag shows every night in 1 room with tables and chairs. The other room is mainly a dance floor, with some special seating looking over. There are 3 places to get drinks. The bathrooms are large with amenities and an attendant in each. Overall I like coming here with my friends and enjoying the music and shows. Of course since its a bar, there are spilled drinks and cups littering the floor as the night goes on. Drink prices are kinda high, but theyre poured well.
One of the most memorable parts of nashville. The queens are UNMATCHED to every drag show i’ve seen; these girls are INCREDIBLE🙏🏼They put on an amazing show, and know how to have fun with the crowd:) This place produces legends!!
They charge a fee for opening a tab. You wont know unless you specially request an itemized receipt, so i wanted to make sure people had a chance to see it ahead of time. You also cant take your tab to any other bartender (not just bar, literally bartender) than the one who started it, so I would recommend just paying for your drinks as you go.
Such a fun place! A whole group of us from a conference went to the bar for the drag performances. They were amazing 🙌🏻The bar was nice. They had a stage for the performances and then had another place to dance. So much fun!I do wish they took cards to get in...I don’t recommend walking from downtown like we did 😂
We are here from out of town and came on a Thursday night, so werent expecting much. This place has a great vibe, fun audience, terrific performers, and reasonably priced drinks. We had a blast and are coming back this weekend before we leave!
My favorite place to dance in Nashville! And they have the absolute best drag shows in Tennessee. The queens put so much thought and care into their performances and costumes. GORGEOUS. Shows in Knoxville and Chattanooga don’t compare! During COVID, they’re currently only doing seated drag shows but even without the dancing, this is still one of my favorite bars. Been coming here for 5+ years. Welcoming to all. Feel free to be your perfect self!
A bit pricey, but definitely worth the experience every so often. The drag performances are exceptional, though usually cramped. If youd rather dance, then theres a separate room for that, with three bars. The bartenders in the show room and dance lounge are nice, but the DJs really get into it, and the performers steal the show. They could use more chairs, though.
It was fun! The drag queens are incredible and fierce. The club was cool too. It got crowded at times but nothing too uncomfortable. The music was good and the DJs were really getting into it lol. I think I got what I paid for. At places like these, you rate them by not how fun the actual place is, but by how fun you make it to be. I had a great night and I cant hear out of both my ears so I cant complain.
There was a cash cover, and unfortunately I didn’t have a debit card or cash. I talked with the front desk guy to find a solution, as I was in town by myself, but he wouldn’t allow me to even charge a cocktail at a surplus or anything. Not a great experience. Maybe fun when you get in, but couldn’t say.
This place is awesome. Drinks werent too bad in price, music was pumping, and people were friendly all around. Not the typical bar scene Im used to. Im hooked and will be back! As a DJ though I have to call out a pre recorded set when I see one. DJ Stretch didnt even try to pretend like he was actually mixing, and he didnt understand how to control a crowd. Still had a fun time though.
I’m new to to the area and just moved here from Kansas, so going out was very daunting and scary to me because I am usually pretty shy and knew nobody. I decided to go to this place last Friday and ai was pleasantly surprised at how much ai did enjoy myself. The man who walked me to my table, unfortunately, is someone who I didn’t catch the name of but he was very kind and sweet. He had long hair and a little shorter but I absolutely loved his attitude and his kindness. Dennis was my bar tender and he talked with me the whole night. He made me feel very comfortable and open and eased me out of my comfort zone so I could enjoy the night. I only drink when I go out and don’t know names of drinks but I said I like fruity drinks and he made great drinks too. Thank you for making my last weekend very great.
Just went for the first time tonight and had an amazing time. I’m not someone that likes crowded areas too much so a Sunday night was perfect for me and my friends. The dance floor was open enough for us to not worry about smashing into people but it was still lively. The music was amazing! Met some really sweet people who were welcoming and kind. I felt like I could be myself without judgement. 100% going to come back more often.
We attend drag shows all over the Country and can honestly say this was the worst we have ever attended. The cast at Play Nashville was the most aloof, disconnected cast weve seen. It was as if they only performed for the bartenders and looked over the heads of their audience making no connection with those who came to see and support them. We were celebrating a Birthday so we paid the $50 Table reservation fee and the Website says once you have a Table you are welcome to keep your table for both shows. What they dont tell you is the stage used for the 1st Show is not the stage used for the 2nd show. Sure - when the 1st show ends you are welcome to keep your table if you dont mind staring at an empty stage. We walked to the other stage and asked the doorman if we could go in but he said no....that all tables were reserved. Play Louisville, yes. The Baton Club in Chicago, yes. Lips Fort Lauderdale and Chicago, yes. Play Nashville - fail.
We had an amazing time! Music was on point, drag queens are beautiful, drinks are strong, patrons are super hot, staff is hot and fun! I travel the country for work and go to a lot of places and PLAY is at the top of my list! Thanks for an amazing night. Now my hungover ass is driving back to North Carolina!!!
Great bar! Love being able to dress up and party! Only bad thing is if ur under 21, expect to be treated rudely by the older clubbers. Anytime I compliment someone’s outfit or just sit there someone has something to say abt the X on my arms.
Me and 7 of my girlfriends went to play on my sister, and her fiancé’s bachelorette and it was a BLAST. the environment was so fun and the bartenders were working their butts off making sure everyone was pleased with their drinks. the queens were amazing. would 10/10 recommend to anyone visiting nashville.
It’s changed for the worse. Won’t be back unfortunately. The DJ in the dance room plays terrible music and it is basically a straight club now. No longer considered a gay “club” anymore. Might as well go to Broadway for live music and free cover.
Play in Nashville is not the hang out spot on a Friday or Saturday night. Drinks are overpriced and watered down. The DJ is awful. Like hello..play something we can actually stay dancing too. No one wants to hear the damn Grease soundtrack on a Saturday night. No one apparently likes to dance, people just stand on the dance floor but that’s probably because the music sucks. The only good things are the hot bartenders and the drag show. Please get a new DJ... you’d be doing everyone a favor.✌🏼🌈
I came to enjoy myself because I don’t get out much and I have a wife that is very sick and I just want to have a good time and security wants to push me out then I’ll stay at home and drink then. I thought this was the club but I guess I misunderstood.
I walked in this club for the first time in 5 years 2 weeks ago. I wasnt disappointed but I was not enthused either. I saw that much has not changed except for the cast, lighting, and simple cosmetic touches. Price for the drinks are excepted, the music is mediocre and jaded, and lacks the ability to truly ignite the younger generation this club clearly embrace. This club has so much potential to be greater but I cant help but see something or someone holding it back!
Featuring TribeRatchet Level: LowCover: $10 CASH ONLY(Tribe is free)Music: Pop/Hop-Hop (EDM)Once you cross the bridge leaving the tourist area you are in the real Nashville getting a Two-for-One. These two venues are right next to each other and the building is connected so you are getting a packaged deal for the most part. Tribe is where you want to go first for drinks. The venue is nice and is more of a lounge aesthetic. On the right side is a huge bar with stools and a seating area. On the left side there is a smaller bar with tables and a couch. There was a back room closed but there was a sign for a drag performance/brunch in that room. The place was new, well kept, and modern but standard at the same time. Colorful lights, televisions on the wall playing music videos, etc. People were talking for the most part. The crowd was small with little to no diversity. No one was really dancing. So I would recommend coming here to chill and drink before hitting Play I think I paid $9 for a Long Island which is fair because I had been paying $11 and up at most places in Nashville. When you leave out the door for Play is legit a few feet away. There was a bit of a line because the drag show was about to start. Play is cash only which is annoying in 2019 but they had someone working the lines to manage the crowd to the two ATMs and front load people who had cash already. The process was fast because there is also two registers. After you pass this part there is the main room. The stage is to your left with reserved seating around it. The stage is a pretty nice size for drag performances. To your right is the bar where I paid $10 for a Long Island. The drag queen performing are QUALITY. I have been reviewing clubs internationally for over 6 years and this was a relief. I wouldn’t expect anything less from where Rupaul Drag Race’s Brooklyn Hytes is from (she actually came to the show the very next day I just missed her). The crowd was in love with the performers and everything was well prepared and on time . You do NOT see this very often at all. After watching about four performers I wanted to check out the dance floor. When I entered that room it was a completely different vibe. The dance floor was packed. The crowd was extremely diverse with couples gay and straight of all color, sizes, and types. It was giving me New York rave vibes. I got lost in the crowd just dancing to good music. It was amazing. The only complaint is a combination of the fog machine and drinks spilling all over the floor it was extremely wet and slippery. I even witnessed a man fall on his way out. I would have someone working the floors to sweep/mop even with the crowd so packed. New music was being played. I had a great time. I left around 3am. Right outside is a hotdog stand to grab some street food. I was too distracted by a car accident I witnessed right as I was leaving. Everyone was extremely fast acting on helping the accident and that was a real moment (myself included). Play (featuring Tribe) was an amazing experience. I would come here every time I visit or even visit just for the club. Your favorite international club critic; Shamel Jones.
The drag shows are well worth the cover, but having to remember the exact bartender who took your card at the beginning of the night in order to close out is an archaic process. How is it that a modern day bar doesn’t have a system in place that can ID a customer simply by their first and last name?? Tonight was the second time the bar has lost my debit card. The payment system needs upgrading.
Fun and energetic! 18 and up to get in21 and up to drink! Fun shows and events and guaranteed not to be a BLAST
I do have lots of fun at this place with my friends; however, I don’t think I will be back. I got groped, grabbed, and yanked by multiple multiple men many times throughout the night. My friends had the same experience as well. We were looking to have fun dancing tonight, and I thought I’d at least feel okay here but I could not stay any longer. I do love the atmosphere but I’m scared and feel unsafe to come back.
This place is a staple to the lgbtq community in the middle Tennessee region. The drag shows are hands down the best around, the bar tenders are all seasoned and friendly for the most part, the DJ’s are great and play awesome music and the management are quick to take care of issues should they arise. I love this place and all the wonderful people that work hard to make it what it is.
Outstanding show, you could tell the performers were having fun. Pleasant staff. I travel for a living and the gays seem to be the same. Several bars within walking distance that do not have cover charge; bring cash.
They serve great breakfast! Ask for their chicken and waffles, which are absolutely amazing:) I felt like the drag show was a little inappropriate for my son, but I understand the importance of exposing them new things. Overall 5 stars!
The best dance bar in Nashville. Among the best bar owners in Nashville. Thanks for your support in our community. You have been our voice in this city for nearly 30 years. Thank you again! aka Tim O.
Drinks are overpriced, thats almost everywhere though. Fairly large space, but the DJs are TERRIBLE though. They usually have a mix of music from 2000-2008. not much current top jams being played there at all. Its a shame I have more fun watching the drag shows than having fun being able to dance to some decent music.
I’ve been to lgbt clubs all over the US…. Kansas City. NYC. Las Vegas. Dallas. Pueblo. Knoxville. Lincoln. And never have I ever felt so comfortable. Never has the crowd been so fun. Never has the ppl been so diverse! This place is the best lgbt club I’ve ever been to! It’s absolutely amazing!!!!!!
Honestly so disgusted by the conduct by patrons. We were standing close to the stage TIPPING Queens. A patron who WAS NOT tipping. Told me that they didn’t pay for a table to have people reaching over them. This behavior at MY SAFE SPACE is unacceptable, especially when I’m paying the queens to preform.
I went for the first time tonight and it was amazing! Im so excited to find a place where I can go and be me. It was great the staff was wonderful and sweet. The shows were fabolous!! Everyone was so nice and its not overpriced. I will definitely be back soon.
I’ve been coming here on and off for around a decade. The drag shows are amazing and keep getting better and better! If you’re coming to just watch that then you will be happy. Get a VIP table if you can.But after 3 separate disappointing times coming here within the past year I have to voice my concerns about the DJ music. Please get new DJs!!!!!!!!!!DJ Ron was the best back in the day, and there is still amazing local talent like Jane Dupree or Spice J, etc. that Play could hire but instead I see these young white guys staring at computer screens through their reading glasses not even nodding their heads or tapping their feet or moving their hands to the beat. You’d think they were working on a term paper instead of DJing I kid you not.A good DJ moves with his music. It’s an art like anything else and guys staring at their laptops and not moving is a bad sign.Last night I came with a large group of 10 and we were ready to dance and spend some serious money on drinks to celebrate a birthday.Once again, the music was sooooo horrible. I don’t know what those DJs are doing up there but it’s just awful. Who wants to dance to Elsa singing “Let it Go” to some generic techno beat? Not me. I mean look I tried but it was like Kidz Bop and I hear that enough at home with my kids, except I can dance to it bc the beats are somewhat decent. Who wants to listen to *NSYNC “Bye Bye Bye” slowed down to a dark sludge pop? No one. Songs were so weirdly mixed none of us could really dance. There was nothing current. And anything actually decent like “California Girls” was so horribly mixed (the actual beat was missing and replaced with some wannabe Skrillex with the chorus taken out) that you couldn’t dance to it. They played the BGs staying alive twice-again awfully mixed and just...why? Where is the fun music from today? Then the terrible songs just kept repeating. They had it on a loop!!! So what are your DJs doing if everything is on a loop? They used to play top 40 music mixed in with amazing danceable beats. That’s what people want to hear.We left early. We came to drink and dance, we were all dressed up and the club lost money on us. I was embarrassed after telling everyone how awesome this place was and the music is what made us leave.I hope the management changes this please. I have been a huge supporter of your club. I had my bachelorette party here, I used to come every weekend, and I’d love to come back more but this music has got to change. I’m seeing others voice this as well.
I wouldnt even give 1 star if I had that option. We are from out of town and it was my birthday weekend. My girlfriend and I brought 5 of our closest friends to Nashville to party. (Let me just say ALL 7 of us are 35 or older, just wanted a mommy get-a-way, are responsible adults and are not trouble makers.) We had heard good things about PLAY so we decided to hit up a few different bars and end the night there. Everyone wanted to dance and have fun. BUT apparently they do not want you having a good time while the show is going on..... We noticed we were the only ones dancing by the bar while the show was going on. We were tipping the dancers AND had spent about 300 dollars at the bar in the short time we were there. We were cheering the dancers on and having a good time just waiting for the dance floor to open. My gf goes out to smoke and was talking to a bouncer (she never meets a stranger and will talk to anyone) and this dude kept rolling his eyes towards her to other guest. Rude. It wasnt 5 minutes after that that we were told she needed to leave bc she was to drunk. She wasnt causing a scene, she wasnt fighting, she wasnt stubbling, she wasnt loud or abnoxious. So of course if she leaves we all leave. You just lost a lot of money! We just wanted to dance and have a good time but apparently you cant do that in this club. If you want to go watch a drag show where you CANT dance or sing while your tipping their dancers, and you just have to stand there lame as hell then this is your place. If you actually want to dance and have fun I suggest you go elsewhere. We were told on the way out that there was a lesbian gay bar right down the road we could go to. So apparently this place is only for gay men? Maybe the front door should say that! They obviously dont want the money from people who have it to spend. Period. We will NEVER go back and we will never recommend this place to anyone.
Went for first time to see Willam & im disabled they made sure i had a table n escorted me to it. They even made ppl get up. Everyone was so friendly the only thing was i had to stand for quite a while for the meet n greet. Nobody offered to let me up front or anything so i wouldnt have to stand that long period. I also thought shed do more than 1 song for her show. There were several other Queens that performed n did a great job as well! Well definitely be going back but must make sure i have a table or booth bc it was packed & just walking from parking out back thru tribe & crowd was hard with my cane & i had to use my inhaler. My daughter said for me not to take my walker n glad i didnt as its not very handicap accessible. The server was really busy so she never got to ask us our drink order n my husband had to go to the bar & get drinks. There was a wide variety of ppl but someone spilled a drink behind me & it got all over my shoes n legs, also i almost slipped bc the floor was wet due to several spilled drinks. Glad my husband was helping me. Smoking area out back with limited seating. If theres someone you want to see you must reserve a booth or table long in advance bc after the show i tried speaking with ppl to do exactly that for Toderick but they said all were gone. I cant sit, stand for long periods so we arrived about 11 & i guess we shouldve arrived around 8pm but i could never stay till 3am arriving that early. All in all had a great time & reccommend going!!
Fantastic half dance floor, half drag stage. Bars on both side with very heavy handed drinks 🍸 met the season 4 cast of Dragula here after their show xoxox loved the environment, safe and friendly
I plan to keep it at a one star until I see improvements from DJ Seizure. This guys track lists isn’t the greatest. Also, it would be great to have more up to date music. Try to go on Spotify to see what’s popular today. And if the DJ is gunna talk, he should at least have some stage presence and not be sitting while yelling to try getting the room excited. He recycles a bunch of his work and it’s just the same thing any night he is on the board. I really wish that Play would let this guy know we want better music. I didn’t know others already said things in the past reviews. So this might be a good idea to let this DJ know we want better music and not the same stuff. Also, please don’t respond leave a general apology. Others, as well as I, who love music would rather want a response confirming that management has informed DJ Seizure to read these reviews that’s affecting this great venue._____________________________Response to the owner:hey dude, I dunno where you’re getting the assumption that I DJ. I am a software student in school while in Nashville. The only thing I DJ is my python code.I’d appreciate if you wouldn’t assume, and just understand I’m a customer trying to give you a feedback cause I love the club, but I’m tired of the same recycled music. If you are going to make an objective statement, I’d like for you to site your source. It isn’t cool trying to call out someone with a fabricated story. But on the other hand, you’re right about being harsh. I’ll stay with a 2 star until you can say you plan to improve the music content.Site your sources before you try to slander a legit review and make yourself look like a fool. I’d like to see your sources to see where you came up with this ridiculous idea. Super inappropriate. Even if you’re finding someone with the same name, get the chance to talk to your customers before making accusations. ‘Julian’ is a common Spaniard name like ‘John’. Anyways if you want to talk I await your response so that I may receive an apology.P.S. sorry if you got offended with the original post. But as a manager who over looks reviews, its best you don’t take constructive criticism personally. Use it as a tool to learn what your customers are wanting. This is why R&D exists and why places can keep giving people what they want.
Club use to be my favorite club, but now I got tired of the same music. I wish they played more up to date music on the dance floor. Its the same songs weekly from 10 years ago. The drag shows have good music
Such a fun club. Love the shows, love the lights, the music. Always a fun time at Play!!
Went to Play for New Years Eve 2013. Cover charge was $20.00. Advertised party favors and champagne at midnight. Only party favors provided were free logo stuff from Sky Vodka. No noisemakers, no horns, etc.. just cheap paper hats. And the champagne. NEVER saw any. Asked at bar at 12:05 and they said it was all gone. What? Very misleading. Only saw total of (3) bartenders in the whole bar. No excuse for NYE. Service sucked! The place was packed, music was ok but nothing great, and drag show was a lot of fun! But for $20.00 I expected more. Not like it used to be.
Easily one of the best drag bars in the South
Truly enjoyed the show of professional & nonprofessional performers. Staff was beyond nice. Cant wait to return. Only beef, wheelchair users are limited to viewing show only if near the stage, which requires in advance reservations.
Just went there this past weekend for my 21st and had a fantastic time! Trey was my bartender, and not only made fabulous drinks, but was very nice and fun! The music was great and it was definitely a very good, fun atmosphere!
This place was definitely fun, the drag shows were top notch. The drinks were expensive and $5 for a bottle of water, robbery.
Everybody was so sweet and kind!! It was my first time at a gay club and I felt safer here than my own old high school!! Shoutout to Story especially for being super kind and giving me the ins and outs of everything.
I went there yesterday for my 18th Birthday and I did not regret a single bit of it. I felt at home I loved the energy and the music. If you are looking to have a night to remember definitely go to Play you will not regret it btw the Queens are lovely!!!! BRING SOME SINGLES $$$
I’ve gone to this establishment for some years now, and many aspects of Play are fantastic. However in the past year I’ve noticed that a new DJ who goes by Seizure has been frequently play music that is subpar and not danceable. DJ Remedy has shown far more skill in providing music that is wonderful to dance to. I suggest DJ Seizure take some pointers on playing better music or play on less busy nights as to not hurt your business.
Play and the bar connected next to it are awesome! By far the best two bars / clubs in Nashville! The owners are very nice, friendly and overall amazing too! Great music and entertainment!
My buddy went to get his wife some water from the car outside and talked to the bouncer about it before leaving and he was cool with it. When he went to come back in the building, he wouldnt let him in. He asked the bouncer if he could at least go get his wife (without bringing the water bottle in) and the bouncer tried to lecture him on taking responsibility, which is ironic because my buddy is in the military. The bouncer brought his manager over and the manager decided to talk down to my buddy as well. Apparently trying to explain yourself is considered arguing, and they told him he should just leave. Were never coming back here. What was going to be a good time quickly became a disappointing realization of how disrespectful people can be to those fighting to defend their rights.
This place can be a lot of fun, but they close the doors way before their advertised close time. We got there at 2:00 am, but they had already close their doors. Even though they were open until 3:00 am. Sadly, I will avoid Play in the future until they get their advertised times correct.
The queens know how to put on a great show! The bartenders pour like none other. If only the djs were allowed to pick music. Dj snoozer and Dj sleep remedy probably would be better... guess well never know.
PLAY is such an inviting place to everyone! I left my credit card there one night, and Ryan made sure it was back in my hands safely! Talk about above and beyond. i most definitely recommend this place.
Terrible experience. The only thing which was worth it was the drag show. The music was old-fashioned and irrelevant, and our bartender, Matt, was all the time playing with his phone instead of serving drinks, he gave us wrong drinks and he was very unkind, only smiled when requesting the tip. I’d never go again
Great environment for comfort within the community - Allows me and my wife to be ourselves and not feel stared at. I love the security staff - had one bad instance and it was immediately taken care of - Would be better if there was more seating out back or front for smokers.
Overrated dance club. Nice dance floor however the bartenders are rude and the security is inconsistent. The last time I was here there was a smoke bomb released that had the entire club evacuated before the security noticed the threat.
Probably the safest club in all of down town Nashville... definitely the some of the coolest people and great dancers.also real good sound, lights, & lasers, & good bartenders & super groovy drag shows..also very clean & good vibes, energy &atmosphere..only lacking one thing and thats me as Plays new resident dj..dont get me wrong the DJs there are pretty good but Im one of the best around, so maybe one day in the near future? Idk? Oh there is one last thing besides me being the newest dj there & that my friends as you all well know, that is if Play was to become a after hours club.Wishful thinking prolly, but sounds real good anyway. So in my opinion Play is the Greatest club in the city but converting to afterhours and me rockin the house would definitely make it the ultimate most awesome club in all the city since Katatonic
This club is TRASH as is the horrific staff. My friend was physically assaulted here and instead of helping her the staff decided to give the person who hit her an escort to their car, throw my friend on the ground and blame her for what happened to her ! They handled the situation horribly and even banned the entire group from the club as my friend was trying to explain her situation ! Incredibly disgusted with how the situation was handled. My friend is sporting a black eye from this assault and bruises from being thrown to the ground by these monsters they call bouncers !
Always have fun here with wifey
I frickin love going to Play, but it has been ruined so much. I used to go every other week and loved the hell out of it. I felt safe & the environment was amazing. But after last night, I dont think Im ever going back. Because there were so many straight men harassing me and my friend. On many occasions we said no and would walk the other way, but they would follow. 1 of the men grabbed my ass and I had to push him and tell someone about it (unsure what happened) Also, with how many of them willing to buy us drinks when were underage was annoying. Play used to be so fun but now all I can do anymore is just sit so Im not being harassed or groped. Im not sure what you can do about it, but I hope something can be done so I can come back.
We can from Nashville to see the new club. We were told to leave on the slowest night of the week. Very disapointed in the staff that said we made a scene. I am disappointed in this staff as we dont unsterstand the reason we where through out. Very shady!
The drag show was amazing, the music was great. BUT when we exited the building out the side smoker door the gentleman who had a head set on opened the door for us and we said thank you went out to my car to get a tampon and we went to re-enter i flashed the lady at the door my wrist band to show that I had paid. I was THEN told that we are not allow to go in and out the building........ WHY DID NO ONE TELL ME THIS WHEN WE LEFT THE BUILDING. Their answer was there is no way that we can allow yall back in then why didnt someone say that when we walked out ???? why dont you have it posted anywhere for it be seen by anyone???? the lady PULLED my arm so she could cut off my wrist band and gave my id and we left. I felt that we were not treated correctly or politely and that this situation was not handle correctly at all. We where treated very rudely and we where out $15. Great night thanks Play.
I used to love coming to Play but every time DJ seizure spins I’m stuck sitting down because it’s the same songs and same remixes every time! I hope he finds a new career because DJing is not his strength.
The Drag Show is phenomenal. Ive seen shows from D.C. to LA and Nashville and PLAY have the best. An excellent evening of entertainment.
The music is atrocious. Legit soo bad. Techno beats over genuinely good songs, I feel like I walked into 2004. It’s not the DJ’s fault either because it’s like this every time. Please do better.
I very much feel like I can be myself once I get into the building, but there are too many cops staring at the bar while people from other places try their best to go have fun -
Great place to meet someone you have never met you can easily blend in the crowd to get out of a catfish moment. Tribe is the best place to go after work to relax and have a few drinks before the night is over with.
This was my second time at this club, and I must say, I had a blast! And the best part of all of it was Chase the bart ender...he was so nice and personal and you can tell he enjoys what he does and thats awesome! Keep it up!
We visiting Nashville and wish we had just came to this bar first instead of going downtown. Best drag show ever and definitely one of the best dance clubs ever next door.
Only club I go to because I dont have to worry about being groped and hit on by random nasty men. Even went on lesbian night, still never got hit on. So I feel safe. Cant say the same for the other clubs Ive been to...
This place is a dump. A family member was assaulted by a female in the club and the staff attacked my family member and let the girl get away with it. Instead of making sure she was ok they tried making her feel like she was the one wrong. Seriously twisted. A joke of a club.
What kind of new bar doesn’t take credit cards? Cash only?? Sketchy
Nashville needs a new gay dance bar, this one is tired. Music is always horrible. Dance floor has no energy. They need to start bringing in out of town djs or something.
I went for the first time last night for a pre game on my birth day and had a great time the show was awesome!!! This place is my new favorite place I will definitely be going again nice job every one
Always have An amazing time when I go everyone is very friendly drag show is amazing will be going back this evening for their Mardi Gras party.. The only thing and it might have just been that one night it was freezing inside the bar while it was 40 degrees outside it almost felt the same inside but that is the only thing... great place to have a great time and make new friends.
Fun place with a great atmosphere for anyone who is open minded and loves to dance. The drag show was fantastic, the perfect thing it enjoy when you need a break from dancing.
Love love love this place. Trey is the best bartender and the princess is an amazing host. The age variance is hilarious. Please check this place out !
Younger crowd, not necessarily a bad thing but meh for me...cover and drink prices are a little high. Good show and on the right nights a good dance environment...I suggest going in a group and pregaming
Drang show is worth seeing, AWESOME. The worst DJ EVER!!!! Start off Hip Hop, then the worst transition N2 dance music ever. He SUCK!!!!
Mostly a younger crowd. The only reason I go is for the Drag show. The atmosphere could be more of a warmer feel, better seating. and drinks.
This place used to be my absolute favorite but now i have to quite literally be plastered before i go in. lots of rude staff, music isn’t great, the new layout is confusing, it costs entirely too much to get in.play responded to this saying sorry i had a bad experience lol did you even read the review?
Great drag and DJ
The bathrooms reeked of urine. Drag show was decent. Bartenders seem to jack up the prices for certain customers. Terrible, crowded experience. Never again.
Came here, I liked the drag show but what is up with the music? I go to the club to twerk and dance. How can I do that to this popy rave music? Where’s the hip hop and r&b or verity
I had an amazing time with my gf here. I love the drag show, how we can go outside on the patio to smoke and then hit the dance floor! It was an amazing time!!!!
THE premier place for entertainment in Nashville. Best drag in the south hands down. Excellent DJ and Excellent bartenders. A++
The queens are fantastic and Chase behind the bar is awesome! You can definitely tell he works hard and his customer service is always on point!
Such a cool place and unique experience I was glad I was able to visit especially being 18+ but a cover fee but I think it was definitely worth it.
Wrote a prior review complaining about having to pay a cover on Thursdays before 9 when the website says it’s free. Turns out I read the wrong ad. Sorry about that!
Tonight was a blast! 1st time being at a club and I feel spoiled this place is so awesome staff is very friendly and helpful will be returning soon!
Great Drag Shows!
The club stays packed but the music could have a lot more variety. I like rave music but if that was all I wanted to listen to id go to a real rave.
Love the atmosphere, the employees and their efforts to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. The entertainment is always top notch. My favorite spot.
I absolutely LOVE the DRAG SHOWS..and of cousre THE QUEENS. Some nights one bartenders is better than another. Still love going here.
Awesome club...love the Drags.. Sarah Andrews and Deranged are my favorites...I wish Oscar was still there...love this place..just the rules are getting a little to laxed with the new manager
