Hello everyone,I can’t recommend enough to not go here. I went to get a massage here. At the front he asked what I wanted. I communicated I was there for a deep tissue, as advertised on the website. He repeated back to me “back rub”. I corrected him and said “no, deep tissue.” He and the masseuse spoke back to one another privately and he instructed me to follow him.My masseuse was rough and a man, speaking up was hard and a little uncomfortable since there was a language barrier. He was also sick, repeatedly coughing on me. At the end, I thanked them, asked to pay with card but they insisted on cash. So I paid in cash and tipped 20% (i work in the service industry so it’s just simply obligatory for me). When I got home I noticed a bruise on my arm and then my boyfriend noticed bruises on my back. Yes, some bruising can be expected (although I’ve never had bruising from a massage before) but the additional pain that came with it definitely is not. I walked in there in less pain than I am in right now.I called them today to tell them about the bruises and to see what could be done to rectify it refund wise. He asked the time I was there and my phone number and said “oh yes ok, one second” he then hung up on me. I called again, he picked up. I said “hi I was just on the phone with you and call dropped.” He hung up immediately. I’m pretty sure they’ve blocked my number now.Do not go there.

DO NOT COME HERE !! Massage was okay (too painful during some parts, even after communicating “lighter”)… but when it came time to pay our total was $120 (we got a couples massage) and we tipped $25 in cash which is a tiny bit over 20% !! She then asks for $5 more in tip and when we said no sorry she gave us a dirty look !! So rude would never come back wish I took my tip back too.

Ive been here twice, and the boss is really pleasant. The second time I came here with a friend, he had a lot of questions about the treatment and maintenance of traditional Chinese medicine, and the responses were quite professional. Much admired. Because my acquaintance is knowledgeable about Chinese medicine and medicine.

I had a good experience here, came here for my birthday today. Found it on Groupon. The masseuse was very good but some parts were hard on my back. I think maybe because of the type of massage I got. But overall it was Ok. Clean, welcoming environment, nice low music. He really worked out the kinks in my back and I feel better.

I really wish I could love this place because it is so close to my apartment, but unfortunately the massages are mediocre, the customer service is AWFUL, and they refused to redeem my Yelp voucher to the full value. Even the front desk person admitted that I was right and her manager was wrong, as the voucher printed $75 not 75 minutes.Every time I come, I tip way above 20%. The last time I came, my foot massage was so bad that I had stop him several times. I tipped my usual 20%+, and he had the audacity to ask for more, which left a terrible taste in my mouth.Bottom line, if you are not desperate, do not come here. It is run by riff raff management with false advertisement and bad staff.

Firstly I rarely if ever leave reviews- good or bad. Was told they honored groupon. Rate was $41.25. When I arrived they stated it would be $45 because I was paying with a card. I accepted and went back for what should have been a 60 minute massage. It ended up being 50 minutes of the worst massage of my life and I wish I was exaggerating. When I checked out, the man who gave me my massage told me it was now $46 which I pushed back on. I went to tip $10 which was generous considering how terrible it was and this massage man stared me down and said “$10? That’s it?” I was dumbfounded. He then pushed me to a $12 tip and intimidated me into paying it. Really disappointed as it’s not my first time coming in but I’m led to believe that because the Groupon rate was discounted, so was the service.

I rarely leave bad reviews for massage spots but I had one of the worst massages of my life. My masseuse fell asleep in the middle of my massage. I also don’t even think it was a full hour.

Absolutely terrible! I used a Groupon for 2 people and when I got there they said there’s an extra $5 per person policy. Even though I didn’t see that written anywhere. The massage itself was painful and they seem irritated to be working. Once we were done I gave a tip and they tried to ask for more money!

As you can see from the comments they clearly have a serious problem with tipping. They made me feel like it was an obligation to leave what they wanted. They demand it. In a bad way, I will definitely not return.

The foot massage was good, but not a true reflexology massage. I arrived to an empty shop with all the staff huddled in the comfortable front room with window onto Houston. Instead I was told to sit in the dark middle room without any lights. Still the massage attendant gave a nice strong massage and given the price, worth the basic treatment.

I know there are a lot of mixed reviews on this chain. This is my review of this location.Temperature was warm. Rooms were real walls but open ceiling concept and fabric doors. Yes, you could hear other people walking by and the occasional chat but the more I relaxed into the massage and the music, the more I blocked it all out. Get the 90 min with June. I asked for medium pressure, easy on the legs and got just that. She had some great moves. I will definitely go again.

I am finally leaving a review after my 4th visit at Taiji (3rd at the Houston location)! I think this location is a lot more quiet than the one in Bowery and I like the masseuses that Ive gotten paired with every time Ive been here. They do a great job at paying attention to all the knots I have in my back and up and down my spinal cord. While I do agree that it is tad bit tacky that they ask for more tip than what they are given, every time its happened to me, it was always done in a humorous manner and I do believe you should pay more in tip if youve used a Groupon. Took a friend from out-of-state there last time and he too had an amazing experience. Will frequent again and bring more people! :)

I called over a week prior to reserve 2 foot massages for 1 hour. I requested 2 female technicians for the massage as well. I really wanted the day to go well because I was celebrating my anniversary dinner after the massage. The business clearly understood what I had said when I made the reservation. When I walked in with my wife for the appointment, they had NO masseuses available and then after about 15 minutes of waiting, they said they had 2 male technicians. There were 3 other customers having foot massages at the time. They clearly just took in the walk-in customers and didn’t honor my reservation.Taiji Bodyworks is NOT running a good business and I would make sure to avoid this type of business that doesn’t respect their customers and their time. I have been a New Yorker for 15 years now and get massages on the regular all over the city. DO NOT COME IN HERE. THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER BUSINESSES THAT WILL RESPECT YOUR RESERVATIONS IN THIS LINE OF WORK.

I brought my friend to this location for her first massage because I was a loyal customer of the East village location. The massage overall was 7.5 out of 10 BUT when we went to pay with a 20% tip, the woman literally demanded we pay 30%. She counted my tip which I gave in cash immediately in front of me and said I needed to give her more. I told her I had already given her 20% but she continued to say I owed more. When my friend went to pay, the woman asked her how much tip and when she too said 20% the woman automatically put in 30%! I work in the service industry and have never experienced anyone demand a higher tip, especially when you have given a proper amount. So unprofessional and will never be coming back.

I love this place. I’ve gone to this location and the St. Marks location over 20 times total now. I regularly come for foot acupressure and full body— It’s addicting for the price! Sky is my favorite, but everyone is incredible. They have tremendously helped my neck Spain and sciatica. They focus heavily on acupuncture pressure points which does wonders. I’m so thankful I found them!

Walked in with a friend and we had a 30 minute back massage. I had mine done by Linda and she was super effective, helped me stretch out my shoulders. Felt it even the next day. All the staff seem friendly with each other, overall good vibes and they take tips by card which is super nice. Will come back again!

Great massage for dirt cheap. My friend and I went in for a 30 min foot massage and they gave us the option to also do a half hour of back massage for the same rate. Really cool that you can mix and match services. Friendly staff, clean facility, and fast service. $49 for 30 min of feet and 30 min back is unbeatable... at least in NYC in a non-sketchy setting. Highly recommend!

I live around the corner and have gone here about a dozen times for both back and foot massages. The experience and quality of the massage is unfortunately inconsistent. Tonight I went in for a 30 min back massage, which was horrible. The lady basically just aggressively rubbed my skin - she clearly had no idea what she was doing. When I paid I gave a $5 tip for a $26 massage (which is 19% tip) She clearly wasn’t happy with the tip and the hostess pointed to a sign behind the register that had suggested tips and called out that I should tip $6. I was shocked at how inappropriate they were - I will never go back again.

Not relaxing, there’s no walls or ceiling with gaps in the curtains so you can hear everything in the building and little privacy. Got the 90 minute plus 10 minute hot stone and they just rub you and spend a lot time in your feet and they ended early. Wouldn’t recommend for a relaxing time

Normally when I go there I have a 30min feet massage, which is $23, I always give $5 tip. The massages are great. This time I thought I am going to have 1h feet massage, which is $32. I wanted to give $7 tip (more then 20%) but they told me for 1h massage it will be $10 tip. I think this is really unfriendly and pushy. Not good customer service.

I frequently visit Taji Body works but at the 96th location. This time I decided to try a new location. I had a male masseuse and I told him to do my upper back more. He said okay. My massage started out with a lot of aimless slapping of my back. I asked for more pressure and he said hold on. When he came back he said he couldn’t do any harder for reasons I am still unsure of. I said that I go to the 96th Street one a lot and I’ve never had problems with pressure. He said okay and continued. I hate walking out of massage places feeling like I never got one. I’d avoid going to this location and trying the 96th Street one. I haven’t had a bad massage there yet.
