An intimate and modest venue to see some amazing and brilliant music stars! I went to see Eric Krasno Trio and loved the sound quality and performance. The food menu may not be quite vegetarian friendly, but there are some good options for drinks. I wish the seating arrangement was different and was not perpendicular to the stage; hard on your neck if youre on a wrong angle. Plus, youll be almost hugging the person sitting beside you as the tables are extremely narrow.
Excellent place for a show and drinks with friends. See legends of Blues and up and comers, along with a host of talented musicians, play and share their stories. Get up close in this small venue.I have been going here since it was an upper west side location, and now they have been in midtown for the past 10+ years. The only downside is that their food menu used to be more exlectic and a bit better overall for nice dinner theatre experience, but the burgers are still decent. Highly recommend for music and drinks, however. Enjoy!
Small club with. Very good sound. They serve food and drinks. I didnt eat there but the drinks and service was efficient and friendly. Cant wait to go back
Love the “new” Iridium! It’s a better space than the old venue.I don’t know why the menu is getting grief from some people. For the NYC club scene, the prices are reasonable. We ordered and were quickly served. I had the Les Paul burger (of course), it’s a fresh huge burger not a frozen hockey puck, cooked to order a perfect medium, with a fresh brioche bun and toppings. Fries were hot and fresh as well. Not sure what some other reviews are about, or the expectations of the reviewers. What, you expect Gordon Ramsay in the kitchen, and Salt Bae as your waiter, for a $20 burger?UPDATED REVIEW:There are a number of questionable reviews for service, we went back and now they make sense. We were among the first seated. Ordered, my partner got her meal and … nothing for me. We asked the person who brought the food and they said they’d check. Then we asked the server who took our order a half hour later, and they said the order was definitely in work. And finally asked again well into the performance. Finally got dinner but the entire point is to get there early and have a meal BEFORE a show. We were never asked if we wanted drink refills. And we weren’t alone, our seat mates didn’t get their order until after I got mine, which again is strange considering all the people who arrived after we did who were served and done. It’s not fair to blame individuals, because most people go to work and do their best. But there’s a Swiss Cheese Theory of failure where multiple breakdowns have to occur. One of the problems in the modern era are that people think they’re experts on everything. I am in no way an expert on good service but a lifetime of dining at clubs like this indicate that there’s some sort of structural problem in their system, for multiple people to be involved and still result in failure for so many guests.TL;DR: it’s a great venue for live music, but dine elsewhere and don’t plan on having any more than one round of drinks. It may even be better to just go to the bar and get your own. NYC has no shortage of great restaurants and bars, avail yourselves of those choices. We don’t plan on ever dining there again.
Was fortunate enough to see Les Paul at the old location, and this one works hard to live up to the original vibe. The preferred seating closer to the stage only cost a few dollars more, and it was worth it to see the Blues Beatles (except watching the stage from a sideways view can be hard on the neck!)
I hate to be the one having to leave this negative review as I feel for the musicians and the Club. But this is absolutely necessary as I wouldnt want more people to go through the same experience.I dont even know where to start. This has absolutely nothing to do with the Musicians performance skills. As a big Music fan and Musician myself I was super excited for this particular gig. Me and my wife traveled all the way from Southern Europe to come and see Rachel Z and Omar Hakim in this legendary Music Club. A great place, great service and amazing Musicians but unfortunately with a completely USELESS and AMATEUR sound technician. My wife and my self endured a 2 hour torture of loud distorted sounds.I finally build up the courage to try and explain the problem to the tech and with a terrible attitude he answers: cant do much now, theyve started playing..Maybe someone will actually read this and end up communicating this terrible experience to the Musicians. Unfortunately it is because of bad and deaf sound technicians like this that great Musicians cannot connect with the audience. A technician is as important as a band member. Then again, unfortunately the guy wasnt even sitting in the middle of the Room so he had absolutely NO clue of what was happening. But..he had no intention to be bothered with doing his job either.By the way, we where sitting in front of the stage. I still cant believe I couldnt even make out Omars drumming. Every bass drum kick was some kind of blabber. And this was an acoustic piano Trio for Gods sake. In a Music Club!!
Love the place but the 1st come 1st serve seating is not exactly true. You can wait on line for a really good seat and they try to put you wherever THEY want anyway. Not that theres really a bad seat in the house, but still....
Love iridium. Best jazz club NYC. Zach Brock concert wonderful. Sound was balanced, drinks great, and the intimate warm atmosphere enhanced by seeing Zachs enthusiastic family. A friendly charming and musically satisfying evening. Zach btw super talented jazz violinist with an obvious classical music background. Bass and drums respectful and creative.
First time in NYC. A great evening at Iridium. good food and friendly staff. Great gig by Mark Lettieri band. Hope to see you again in the Big Apple...
My wife and I went to a show mid March and saw Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats. Phenomenal show. Dinner was great, menu seemed fine too. Server was fantastic. Loved it so much we are flying in with our teenage kids this July to see Lee perform again! Great vibe and sound system too. The place is clearly well managed. Highly recommend this venue.
Great music, very friendly staff provide excellent service. The food was better than I expected.
Lets me start by saying this review has nothing to do with the performance. We went to see Peter Cincottis Valentines Day show and he was spectacular! Five stars all the way!The one star rating is for the food. We had preferred seating and arrived at the venue 50 minutes prior to the show. It took 20 minutes for a server to come and take our order and then another 30 minutes for the food (only a burger and fries) to come out. By the time it did arrive, they had dimmed the lights for the show. The fries were okay, nothing to rave about, but the burger, ugh, this is where it all went wrong...I ordered it to be cooked medium and in the dim light I couldnt tell how it was cooked but it tasted off. I only tried eating half and then had them wrap the other half to take home. I wish they wouldve let me wrap it up myself. They put everything on the plate (including the ketchup cup with no lid) into the to go box and paper bag.I got home and took it out and the ketchup had spilled everywhere and THE BURGER WAS RAW! It was only brown on the outside. And not raw as in it could pass for rare, but RAW raw.Go for the music and a couple of drinks. Dont get the food. Especially the Les Paul burger. If you must try it because of the name, please order it extra well done. Then it might come out medium.
Great venue for live Blues. Service was pretty good considering the small space and how crowded it was. We have the calamari which was very good and fish and chips, also good. Drinks are about average for New York City in terms of pricing. If you want to get out and see some good live Blues this is the place to go. Join their newsletter or get on their email for updates and youll be sure to catch some great shows.
Once a really great place to see a show with decent food and good drink selection at reasonable prices, has now become a corporate tourist place. Food mediocre and beer wine list is low rent.Seating/ sound good, but wait service is kinda slow. Eat before you go.
Show was fantastic, venue holds 180 people and they really pack you in tight!Food and drinks were amazing.
I have been to Iridium to see different jazz artists. The service and the food is great. You are not squeezed in like other jazz clubs. They changed their chairs. The chairs are metal low and very uncomfortable to sit on for an 1 and1/2 hour performance Why did you change them? The owner of the club should sit on them and he will see. Whoever made those chairs does not like people to be comfortable Its a shame I really like the club.
First of all. The music nor the musicians have anything to do with this review….This review is about a failure of the system and the venue for us….We started with a nearly 30 minute wait in the staircase while the staff fumbled their way through seating guests. When we finally got inside (well before show start time) since we were a party of two they offered us a back corner or behind the pillar jammed shoulder to shoulder with discomfort between other parties- I mean zero personal space. And the least discomfort was the aisle behind the pillar. After sitting down we surveyed the experience so far and decided you know what, this is not fun, this is super disorganized, and all around a bundle of chaos. So, we decided to simply forfeit our door charge for a better experience elsewhere- thank goodness Dizzy’s club (Jazz at Lincoln Center) had a 9:30 showtime and we walked in to ample seating, a skyline view of manhattan and the most wonderful evening. Folks, just go there instead or the many other fabulous Jazz establishments in the city without these venue issues- we also love Village Vanguard and Birdland. We’ve been to a lot of jazz clubs and The Iridium is a bundle of chaos and not worth going to unless you ONLY care about music and are fine with a stuffy basement diner and all the other discomforts.
Great atmosphere and cool vibe in this intimate jazz club. Shared 3 appetizers of which, the coconut shrimp was the best. Well chosen, decently priced wine list. The sound system was brilliant in that it was crisp and loud but balanced so that you were not overwhelmed. The performance by The James Hunter Six was stellar, check him out!
Great musicians there tonight. Had the group Arjun there. Food was good, but the service was lousy. Waiter took my order and brought over my drink and the kitchen staff brought my food to me. But the waiter never came back. I finished my drink and wanted another one, but he never came back. When he finally came back to take my plate, I asked for another drink, but he never brought it to me. At the end, he brought my bill (which already has 20% gratuity on it), but no drink. I was ready to leave, so I didnt even ask about it. So the place was good, my waiter was bad.
First time. Cool looking basement club. Lots of history. We came to see Ally Venable Band an up and coming blues power trio in the vein of Stevie Ray Vaughn. Fancier food than typical music venues. Had braised short ribs on mashed potatoes and tried the veggie empanadas. Both excellently made and tasty. The odd rule they had was that couples couldnt sit next to each other. Had to sit across the table. Hostess seats everyone. Will go back. Parking was literally across the street so easy to drive if one wants.
We loved the show! The seating is a little tight. Its not a deal breaker, though.
Greatest small venue in all of NYC!!! intimate setting. You almost feel like youre in your basement!! Lol. The musicians that play there are top notch. The staff are friendly and chill. The history of the place is amazing, Les Paul held a residency for years. If you have never been there, I highly suggest trying a show, and let me know how you like it. Last of its kind in NYC
Only note - for the love of all that is holy your venue is not large enough to mic up every drum on the kit.Was in the back and still was very thankful for ear-plugs - the snare was literally cutting through every-other sound of the band.
Wonderful small intimate jazz clubKind of reminds me of Village VanguardRight in Times Square
Short session. One hour. While it was really good for that one hour, I was disappointed that it wasn’t longer considering the cost of the ticket.
Great music venue, good sightlines for the most part, hectic service (alot of people at the same time) - expensive drinks and mediocre food, as to be expected from a music venue serving food....BUT - they book incredible performers...Worth it
Great spot for pizza pie. Its crisp thin Legendary NYC pizza, tasty sauce, right amount of cheese, with a crispy crust. Classic toppings galore like when you were a kid growing up in the old neighborhood. Its not a slice house pies only and classic pizza parlor fare. Come hungry!
First time back in a long while. Revamped and cozy. Super staff w/ prompt service. Varying styles of music all sound great with their system. Good night out.
LOVE the show! Real musicians play here.
The music is great but the management of the place is terrible. The hosts are rude. The show I was going to was sold out, and I had to wait 10 minutes after it started to see if there are available seats. After 10 minutes I got inside. Nevertheless I had to pay the full price, although I missed part of the show. There were quite a few seats available, so I was wondering why the wait. Yet there were people coming in, even after half an hour into the show. Makes no sense.Look at some other live-music places to see how organized and efficient they are. Learn something.
They definitely overbooked the last show and had us seated at the last possible corner. The performance was the saving grace of the night.
Event itself was amazing and I will admit it’s a lovely little venue. But I have literally never and I mean never had such an appalling experience when it came to a simple overcharge on my card. Don’t bother trying to call them. Won’t happen. Maybe an email to say? Doesn’t work. As for the way the Facebook page acts it’s both shocking and laughable. 55 dollars down and I get offered t shirts. That most likely cost very very little. The other offer was 2 tickets to a show which I admit is admirable and were I still there I would have taken them up on the offer. All I want is to get my money back and remember the fact that the actual evening was amazing. The waitress that served us was awesome despite the fact the venue was packed we didn’t have to wait long for anything. It’s a shame I can’t attach images to this review because it’s some good reading.
Plainly and simply the best blues place in Manhattan. Great food, for all budgets, and large selections of drinks at a reasonable price for Timesquare. The programming is just outstanding. The sound quality is astonishing and really transfers the vibe of live performance to the audience. Finally the staff goes the extra mile to please the patrons which is not so common in such places , and seating is quite comfortable (it’s miles above the BN for example).Go and visit them you won’t be disappointed and they really deserve your business.
We were watching Steve Smith and his band the Vital Information, and the performance was fantastic. (y2019). After the concert we took a photo with Vinny Valentino (guitarist) and Baron Browne (bass) with funny discussion about Croatia and bass guitar players. Missing Baron and his music. Recommend to visit the Iridium Club when visiting NYC.
Great place to see a band, once you get in. My complaint is it is a restaurant style line to get in. If there are 20 people ahead of you, you are not getting in for awhile. Also they (understandably) try to fit as many customers in as possible. So seating is tight. There are some tables on a ramp, so one side is a few inches higher than the other. Its funny to see but Im glad I wasnt sitting there. The GOOD: there doesnt seem like there would be a bad seat. Its small enough that everyone can see the performance. The sound system was really clear. The sound guy seemed to be dialing the reverb/echo on the vocals at times. It also was not to loud. I brought ear plugs but did not need then at all. The subtle lighting of the back wall and the stage lighting were simple but effective. They have a lot of Gibson Les Paul guitars from past performers on the walls, which was cool. I didnt eat, but the food smelled good and seemed reasonably priced for NYC.Bottom line, I am impatient, so waiting 45+ minutes to get seated in a place that holds 180 irritated me, but the rest of the experience was great.
If you go, go for the music only! Made the mistake of having dinner there… huge regret! Food took forever to arrive however it was only for us, the rest had decent waiting time, I felt i was robbed in terms of food: bad salmon, bad hamburger, extremely salty fries… the only decent thing were the fish tacos.
The ambience is great for music lovers. This late legendary Les Paul used to play here weekly. The sound system is not overly loud, even when the performers are playing high energy fusion music. The seating are close to the stage. This is a small club but not crammed. Guitarists would appreciate the many guitars of famous players adorning the walls. Lastly, the food is tasty, though on the expensive side. I would recommend to arrive early and order ones food before the performance start. So that you may better enjoy the food before the show starts. Also to be respectful to the musicians. Theyre not playing background dinner music but a presentation.
Went to see Lee Ritenour live!!! The show was great!! Cozy is a nice way of saying cramped. Small venue and hard chairs are the reasons for the 4 star rating.
Killer place. Great food. Highly recommended. I will be back. No doubt. Excellent sound quality 👌
A great night out. Good food, wonderful live entertainment, and a central location. Fun girls night out
Great little underground (its in the basement) club in the general Times Square area. Definitely on the small and intimate side, floor seating at tables school cafeteria style is pretty close quarters, but not a bad seat in the place sightlines-wise. Food and drink are NYC prices. Entertainment and sound are first rate for the couple shows Ive been to.
Great intimate venue to see music. Have been several times. Food is enjoyable. Took off a star because despite paying extra for preferred seating, on my last visit the best seats were all reserved for parties of three.
The venue is small with a warm and intimate atmosphere. The stage is visible from every table. The food is delicious with generous portions and is reasonably priced. I had a carafe of prosecco and didnt go broke. I dont know about the other beverages. The wait staff was very accommodating.
Fantastic club , great music top acts & delicious food.Be aware that the Iridium is UNDER Ellens Stardust Diner!
We had a reservation. We’re notified to arrive earlier the show was moved to 7:30pm from 8pm. We get there to a long line of people who all got same email and we then wait in 27degree weather with no communication at all for 35 minutes and are let in 10 at a time - show started at 8:15! No apologies. No reason. No discount on our tickets or meal/drinks. Service was terrible and drinks watered down and poorly made. Food was fine. Band great. Singers with the exception of two female singer were like karaoke and not in key or even good performers. Would highly recommend not going as it’s also a fire hazard. One entrance and exit on a small narrow staircase and the kitchen is in the basement too. One grease fire away from a disaster!
We saw Albert Cummimgs there on 12/1/22. It was the best performance ive ever seen in 50 years of going to concerts. I cant recommend a band higher. The Iridium is a terrific venue for music. We cant wait to go back
I love this place! Great small venue place. Seen many legendary bands here. Stanley Clarke, Acoustic Alchemy, Brand X, Mike Stern just to name a few. Easy to get to from path World Trade Center to E Train Uptown to 50th. General admission so come early. $15 minimum per person so try the burgers theyre great.
I was here again with Popa Chubby. We had banging fries and burgers. Then he went on. Check with them see whos there! Great venue
Service wasnt great. 3 entrees served at different times, had to ask twice for the 4th. 1st time I ever got a martini glass only 1/2 full. Had to tell them we never got the 2nd round of drinks we ordered and were charged for. I know wait staff work hard but pay a little attention. Tip is added into bill already so be aware of that. Burgers and fries were very good as were the empanadas, salmon was over salted on top but center was moist and good. Music and sound system were excellent.
This place is low-key but excellent. The food is delicious, and the tributes to Les Paul and numerous other big names are everywhere. We saw Albert Lee and he rocked the house, easily the best part of our trip.
I visited NYC and decided to go here, they seemed to have good reviews. The worst service that Ive seen in a while. This review in no way is towards the workers amazing singing and performance. They are all very much talented and would have enjoyed the show more if the service wasnt so unbearable. I came in with a large group. They already had Pepsi set out and upon tasting it, was watered down and non-carbonated due to it being set out for so long. This was fine at first. It took a lot just to tail down a worker and after stating that the Pepsi tasted weird and asked for another one. Was told that nothing was wrong with it and that it should be fine. It wasnt. No one at the table found it drinkable. I dont see what the problem is to just bring out more Pepsi upon request, especially when we didnt specifically order it in the first place. Annoyed, I just asked for water for the whole table. We asked if they could take away the Pepsi because the table were small and we felt as if we had no space. We were told that someone else would come by and pick it up for us -- no one ever did. We ended up gathering all the drinks at the end of the table. I was one of the last people in the group to get my food after 45-50 minutes. The food came out in intervals and you had to flag down a worker just to get food that was coming out. Someone at my table had asked for napkins three separate time from three separate workers and never received them. The food was mediocre at best. I would not go to this place again, the price just to get in -- the price overall was not worth the experience. This place made me realize how spoiled I am to southern hospitality. Those workers can sing but cant wait for anything.
It was so fun, They get up on your tables and sing, dance and act. It is amazing they make you feel very well treated while your there. The food is very good. Drinks have free refills. And they also hand you the mic sometimes and its overall a fun expernce!!!!!❤❤ 5 Stars
Jazz show one of the best I have seen. The musicians so tight and famous. Food excellent. After the show many current and past famous people mingled with the audience sharing jokes and experiences. In Berlin at Atrane on a Monday night was a similar experience. You must visit and enjoy.
Has decent food (veggie sliders, truffle fries with a WEIRD aftertaste), with a comforting venue. Artists come from lots of different genres and perform here. Jazz is amazing, if a certain Mr. Weg is performing, make sure to go then. Pretty nice music place. Seats were barely available last time I went there.
The club has grown over the years the sound system is better and the sound person has worked @ the club 4 years. Thats a great combination! I go to the club every chance I get diverse crowd its in the theatre district! Go! Great music and some of the greatest musician of the past 20 years.
The band was incredible. The sound system and control was very good. The meet and greet was so poor that we left before we met.Bummer.I would have liked to have met them but not in the hall.Thats not right.
Please be advised that this is not a review of the musicians performing at the venue. This is a review of The Venue itself its services and its food. Located at the crossroads of the world makes it pricey to begin with and that is expected. However, you also expect good service, good food and cocktails that are not watered down. Food was grade C at best and service was slow and inattentive. 40$ tickets for a one hour show paired with 20$ appetizers which were less than mediocre seemed excessive and when you serve a watered down martini to a martini drinker, well, thats the proverbial nail in the coffin. Again, the talent is wonderful but the venue needs to step it up a notch.
One of NYCs finest music venues! Especially lately, because theyve expanded from Jazz to all music genres! The level of artists that appear here are absolutely top quality! Its a small club,so bad seats! Two or three price levels,so affordable to most!Food is excellent, particularly for a music venue! However, now that the acts are so good,&the popularity of the club increases, the service is starting to slip! Not enough help when the club is @ maximum capacity,so the wait becomes long for food & drink! The wait to enter is too long,& they make you wait outside, which is not appreciated in rain, snow,or cold!I hope management sees this review, because they have a top notch club,in need of the few improvements mentioned!I love seeing concerts here, no where better in NYC, as we speak! JF.
Have been there many, many times. Change in ownership in recent years has resulted in disappointing calendar imo. Food always good, venue is small and ideal if you can find an act you like. Sound quality top notch.
The performers were excellent singers. They performed well for me and the large group I came with. The environment was very comfortable and nice. Some of the food was under seasoned, but the fries were exquisite.
While the club has many good artists, their lack of consideration for their guests is the height of disrespect: you are made to wait outside in a line (recently in the cold for 45 minutes past the time doors were supposed to be open). After that experience, you are allowed in but only to stand in another line (on the stairway!) while ONE person seats people one party at a time for no apparent reason i.e. people generally sit where they prefer anyway! It is a patently ridiculous way to treat guests who have already purchased tickets.
Saw XEB twice there great small venue for music which makes it amazing. Food was great but drinks take a little while, but I guess is because th lights are off because of the performance so staff can’t see your drink status. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone that like live music.
The venue is designed for critical listening. Frank Gambale and the band did not disappoint, and the house sound man got it right. The drinks were strong and the filet and salmon were delicious. This experience easily topped the Blue Note on every level. Will return on a regular basis when in town.
Really should give it 4 stars, but I had to bump it up just because of all the other negative reviews. My girlfriend got me tickets to a Jaimoe show for Christmas and we both got worried reading the other reviews, but its a nice little basement under the Stardust diner that is a great place to see some live music. For a more crowded show, it may be worth getting the preferred tickets because there are some odd site lines, but we got there maybe 15 minutes early and were able to get a table with an amazing view of the stage sitting just above the lower level. The complaints about drink prices really leaves me dumbfounded because youre not going to find anything better in that area or really most of Manhattan and western Brooklyn. Service was also fine. It took a minute to get the check at the end of the night, but other than that they were nice and attentive.Dont believe the negative reviews, this place really is a hidden (literally) gem
Great view no matter where you sit. My margaritas were strong, just the way I like them. Beautiful collection of memorabilia from many guitar greats! Go see a show!
Favorite music venue after St. Andrews in Detroit. A close tie for us with Snug Harbor in NOLA. The bar and sound system are good. Adequate menu for a venue of its kind. Overall, a great value with always great artists.
Ive been here several times and experienced incredible music each and every visit. Years back, on one of my visits, I was introduced to Les Paul by one of my favorite musicians, Jon Paris. VERY COOL!! Great experience!!
Great place. Amazing food. Amazing night of Sharon Klein Productions particularly Boys of the Bandstand. They were absolutely amazing had the whole house rocking hope that they are permanent member of the iridium. Great time
Beautiful show by Bilal and his band. The Iridium is a beautiful place. I loved the vibe. The server that waited on me and my companion was very polite. However, one staff member was rude when we wanted service for drinks and a bite to eat. She could had said that she isnt servicing the area we was in and shown us our waiter. Also, the bill is ridiculous for two glasses of wine ,two beers , a ceasar salad with chicken added and coconut shrimp . Overall, I had a wonderful experience and will recommend this place for great entertainment and a beautiful atmosphere. All the food & drinks where good, to pricey. Its Manhattan I guess.lol
Love this venue. Feels very New York, relaxed. Saw the superb Marilyn Maye there in summer 2018. Going back to see her again in a few weeks. I dont live in NY - am making a special trip - and am so glad to be seeing Ms. Maye at Iridium (she sings all over).
Great midtown location, small but excellent venue , with great acts. Put it on your list of places to go!!!
Amazing place! Although doors do not open at the time advertised, it was awesome to be the first in line and have first table pick! The food was OK but loved the whole experience. Get there early!
Great (historic) little venue where I had the great pleasure of see The Tangiers Blues Band with a special sit-in by John McEnroe. Menu looks great however I didnt eat on this visit but would had I known; I ate on the way there.
I went to a drag brunch held at this location in celebration of my aunts birthday & It was a complete waste of time. We had to pay for seating & brunch separately when it said it was included on the app.We had to ask to be served by waiters because nobody never came to our table & we had to ask for utensils to eat. Never again.
With General Admission and early arrival, we had very good seats. The food was acceptable, esp. for a club and the drinks were not watered down. Shemekia Copeland was very good. Nice night out.
The performance was amazing. The service from all staff, including the manager and top brass to the waitstaff was the worst Ive ever experienced, EVER. Zero to negative stars if possible. We called ahead for reservations, which they said they cannot do. When arriving, much of the tables had reserved signs on the table. The manager tried to say they were for producers or something, then tried to set us in the very back behind a column and taller people at the small tables. Then, they accommodated us at the left center of the stage when we inquired it was free, and I guess that set them off. The waitstaff then didnt get us an order for a bottle of wine for at least 30 minutes and a round of musical chairs. By that time, the act started. Wine came and was then spilled onto me by disgruntled staff, no apology. Food came many minutes later. We couldnt see the performance even then due to taller people. Food was mediocre. Towards the end of a far shorter show than anticipated for the $45 per person charged (may be an hour at best), we just moved to the bar and carried our food and drinks there for a better view at the back right of the stage. When paying the bill, we had like 3 separate checks (though we only had one tab), with 2 correct and 1 wrong. My date tried to correct them and I even showed them that they gave us a check for $55 LESS than we actually owed because they gave us someone elses table tab, and for good karma, we let them know. 20+ minutes to settle the bill with many different incorrect bills given to us.as they attempted.to figure it out. They then blamed us for not understanding what THEY did to correct it, even tough WE pointed it out, then billed us the amount WE showed was correct ($55 more), then gave us verbal attitude the whole time, and we paid the bill. We could have shorted them $55, but instead of pleasing the customer, they then said, I dont like to be yelled at. Never did we yell; we tried to give them $55 more that they were owed since they gave us one incorrect tab out of three (we only had one tab), and didnt even comp us a drink for our trouble. NEVER GO HERE! There are so many good live music venues in NYC. Go to another place where your artist is playing, NOT HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SWINDLED!!
Drinks are good yet overpriced, but for the location and venue type it is par for the course. Music was great the service was friendly and because it was late night-ish the place was crowded but not packed I would come back again if a show I wanted to see was playing.
Great little venue to see live music. The music wasn’t too loud which is great, that’s something I often struggle with at venues.Better layout than some other places in NYC too (like cafe wha which has a poor arrangement).
Lasting impressions: Nice venue, good food, the darkness is in the crack of your derriere...My experience: We popped along on a Saturday evening for the earlier show and were surprised by how quiet it was. The place was about a quarter full but we assumed that maybe people come for the later show. We were already aware of the minimum drinks/food charge, so werent at all surprised when they politely informed us of the policy when we entered and we had planned to eat dinner there anyway. The food was good - I had the salmon with risotto and my friends had the bolognaise and the spaghetti polpette. The bolognaise was apparently nice but not what was expected and was cream-based rather than tomato-based but there were no other complaints about the food. My mojito was a bit of a lame effort at a mojito to be honest and I switched to soft drinks without finishing it, as I wasnt sure how successful their other cocktail-making efforts would be. However, overall, we liked the food. The venue was really charming and we had a good table on the mezzanine with a great view of the stage. To be honest, its our own fault - we should have researched the band before turning up but we thought wed take a risk as we all like jazz but none of us had really had much experience of free jazz previously and it wasnt our favourite. There were bits we liked about the music but we will forever be haunted by the very long song with the repeating lyrics the darkness, the darkness, the darkness is in your apartment, its in your compartment, its in the crack of your derriere - sing that at anyone for 15 minutes and theyll be haunted by it too.Our waiter was attentive and friendly and looked after us very well. The verdict: We didnt love the particular band we saw but we would go back to see a different one as we liked the venue and food.
Wint last night for the 1st time excellent place great staff great acoustics great band so little Ed and the blues imperials it was a blast 5 stars
Our first visit to NY and we had to visit the famous iridium club. We werent disappointed. food was good, expensive but expected so.We were fortunate to see Duke Robillard. Very enjoyable indeed. He was joined by guest saxes Grace Kelly. what a talent! absolutely fantastic memorable evening spent with friends.
Would you like great, live music, and delicious food in an intimate, trendy venue right in the center of New York’s Times Square? Then look no further than this well known Jazz Club, The Iridium. The caliber of entertainment is nothing short of the level of any well known recording artist...Paul Gilbert rocked the house down. Dinner/drinks and a show with tables very close to the stage is a great way to spend an evening. But bring ear plugs if you have a hard time with loud music!
Was looking for a place for my parents to celebrate their anniversary and this is just weird. $65 for the 8 oclock show, then $15 just to get inside? Why should there be a fee to get inside if we are going to be paying to see the show and also pay for drinks and dinner? Just very classless of a charge. Dont recommend this place
My wife and I , as well as my talented guitarist cousin had the pleasure of seeing Eric Gales this week at the Iridium . Absolutely amazing performance !On top of the great service, and great show ...we had the pleasure or meeting the owner Ron , a true gentleman , who made our experience even better .I cannot say enough about this venue . Do yourself a favor while in Manhattan NYC and visit The Iridium . You will not regret this great experience !
The NYC home of Les Paul is still SMOKINWith fewer and fewer stages for live music in New York (as I write this, the late, great B.B. Kings in closed), Iridium, just off Times Square, is a jewel. Seating is cabaret style (or shared bench seating), music is astonishing, staff is friendly and the food is reasonably priced (for the area) and tasty.Ticket prices are a bit steep, but the line-up of talent is amazing. This is a great NYC venue! Enjoy!
We saw Strawberry Fields and the show was great. The huge downside: we had to but the tickets for the show and a USD30 mandatory brunch. The quality of the food was terrible! Greasy, cheap food. Really overpriced.
Enjoyed a phenomenal performance and healthy food options at the Iridium last week. I was honestly blown away by the talent (Paul Gilbert) and forgot how fun it is to watch live music in such an intimate venue. I had been to the Iridium several times years ago for jazz and Les Paul, and was thrilled to find the sound is still exceptional. Having food and beverages available during a show, especially healthy options. was a bonus. Come for the music. It will not disappoint. Im looking forward to returning soon.
Tour group stopped for dinner. HS chorus. Kids really enjoyed the singing. Good voices, Good music. Great audience involvement. Food was good, not great .
What a great cozy place to go for music. The venue is a little hard to find, but its been there for ages, a great small club.
The singers/waiter(s)/waitresses are so nice and sweet. I enjoyed the whole performance. The food could be better, but it was still good.
Ive only been here when at least one, though typically more, jazz legend is playing. Which might be always, honestly. The drinks are expensive, and there is a minimum, but decent. Food is not bad, although I really dont remember it. But the music is out of this world. I heard Les Paul there a few years ago and will never forget it. Its just outside Times Square, so expect a lot of people in the area but few going in. Ive only seen them start one set on time but I dont care- worth the wait.
I’d like to give a higher review but the way that the manager treated me that night prevents me from doing so. I was at a show last weekend, chatting with a new acquaintance, when the manager came up to them and asked if I was bothering them. THEY SAID NO, not at all, and she was on her way. No apology to me whatsoever. I will have second thoughts about returning due to this rude behavior.
The atmosphere, sound, and service! Oh by the way got to hear Ana Popovic and her band. Amazing! If you love blues, rock, and a little funk catch them when theyre near your neighborhood!
Small jazz club with optimize seating and great food. I have a really interesting roster of artists. One of the few clubs that will have less than big names for a reasonable price. Although at times they will have big names like Pat Martino.
Close to Time square, Broadway and other major attractions. Suitable for music lovers, variety of music styles. Decent menu and seating. little pricey
Well actually, it wasnt perfect experience, first of all we had to wait in the street on a cold wind, the girl in the reception sent us to the line outside with a wave of a hand, but as it was our first time here we came out in a shown Direction found the end of the line and stood there, as we came to the door we understood that the line was to another bar on the 1st floor!!! so we waited in vain and hardly caught the beginning of the concert we bought tickets on. we were seated Just in doors. And girl didnt even apologize... here in Moscow in Kozlov club we have comfortable Foye please, not to get cold and sick
Great experience. Good sound mix. The menu has improved.
The space is intimate and the food is perfect more often than not. my fav spot to grab fresh gnocchi and house made pastas with a glass of wine (usually a bottle HA!). diverse selection of live music keeps it from getting boring. get an old school jazz fix as well as some pretty cool artists ranging from blues to alt rock and more.
Lovely place with a large but cozy layout. Great venue to see/hear live musical performances. Acoustics are great!
Great ambience, the acts are always excellent, and you can feel the history(Dont sleep on the food either)
Show- Ozmosis- was amazing. Service really good. But much too hot for all of us- including the band. Please turn on the AC! Overall though a really great night!
Not a bad seat in the house. Great acoustics. A little tight space wise. All things considered,a great place to enjoy musical performances.
Saw Room Full Of Blues here and they are an absolute pleasure to see and hear. I dont know how I have never heard of them prior! The Iridium is a downstairs quaint club without a bad seat in the house and hosting amazing talent. If youre into music dont miss the Iridium or Room Full Of Blues!
This is a version of Le pan quotidian but more cramped. The hostes sat my husband and I at a table that was 2 inches (no kidding!) from the table on the right and 4 inches from the table on my left. The people next to us were as uncomfortableas we were. When I asked the hostes if we could be moved somewhere in the mezzanine that was almost emptied, she said no because it was reserved for the owner and the band. I asked to be moved to an empty corner, and the hosted said no, in case new people would come. Well, that corner remained empty.Waiter very nice but forgot my order...my husband got his and I still waited for mine. Only 1 waiter for the whole room!!!The show was excellent but Im not coming again here for dinner to be sitted next to other people while I was hopping for a romantic dinner/drinks out with my husband.
The Iridium Jazz Club for me is hands down the best place to see a quality live music show in NYC. Not a bad seat in the house, good food, great staff and always top notch talent. i highly recommend it and yes, i attend shows pretty regularly
Good food and excellent music. I was in a table of four and we enjoyed the evening!!
Amazing, intimate venue to see some great performances. Good drinks too!
Great jazz club in the theatre district. Unlike most jazz clubs in NYC, this place has edgy hard electronic jam bands as well as more traditional acoustic jazz bands. I like the diverse bands that play here. Sometimes even heavy metal guitarists play here. Its definitely different from the traditional jazz places like village vanguard. But I really like the extreme and unique guitarists who play here.
It took over 20 minutes for someone to take our drink order while several of the wait staff stood around talking to each other. There wasnt even 25 people in the joint yet. We ordered 2 appetizers and they both were below average. I dont mind paying for good food but the meat and cheese trays were lame. The jazz was exceptional. Worth the cover charge. Just plan on drinking somewhere else before you go and eating somewhere else later.
Wonderful intimate space for music. Not a bad seat in the house. Food and drinks a bit pricey as expected, but the flatbread I had was very tasty.
Saw paul Gilbert live at iridium and it was one of the best live sets Ive seen in a while! The sound, seating and service are all top notch. Im definitely going back to see a live jazz show at iridium!
Went to the Drag Brunch and it was great! Be sure to get tip money before the show because the show was half over before the guy came around to sell $1s.
Amazing jazz bar! Is mandatory to arrive early in order to get the best seats but it is so small and intimate that you can see the stage almost from every seating.
Show was excellent. Seating very good. Small crowd venue. Food left something to be desired. Eat first, then jam.
Great venue. Great seating, sound, food and drink.
Greg Howe was AWESOME! Food and drinks were great, perfect evening!
A most intimate setting for listening to musical artistry. Check the calander and be sure to visit this one-of-a-kind venue
Good jazz club with standard overpriced food and drink in midtown Manhattan. Saw a friend perform and they moved some tables out of the way so we would have some space to dance. New manager seems to be working to improve the space and the acts that are in it. Seems to be on the upswing.
The venue is fantastic and the service is impeccable. This was our first time going there and we look forward to seeing many more shows at this venue.
Never been. It was pretty cool to see a fav songwriter. Very intimate. Serves food. Food was tasty, but expect Times Square prices.
Historic venue. Had a great time performing there. Hope to go back next year
I love this place. Its growing on me. A few more old rock/metal musicians (ie: Kip Winger, Corey Glover, Mark Hudson, and surprise audience guests), would bump it to 5 star.
A hot music scene squeezed into a lukewarm space with an ice cold format. but if you want to see some music greats, this the place to go -- and the ticket prices are much more reasonable than other nightclubs.
This place is extremely greedy. Nowhere on the website did it say 2 Drink minimum OR on my ticket to see music then at the end of the show they charged me for drinks I didnt even have because they apparently had a minimum drink that was not listed anywhere! Completely greedy and only want your money!!
Top tier instrumentalists and vocalists.Attentive, courteous staff and management.Comfortable, elegant and intimate.Meet and greets with numerous performers.
An amazing club to enjoy music! You will love the smaller crowd and the intimate experience youll have here. Comfortable booths are also available.
Great venue for a concert. Food and drinks are typical NY prices. Beware: a 20% gratuity is automatically added to your bill.
Great jazz club, when les paul was alive he would play here all the time on mondays! Now the jazz club recognizes him and the amazing man he was by dedicating mondays to him and his music. The food is always great and they have a lime gin and tonic that is amazing. Also i would recommend to get any of the appetizers. The shows are also a good price, always a fun night
I went to the Sunday Drag Brunch here and although the wait to get in was a long time, the show made up for it. I had never laughed so much at a Drag show. Shequida is hilarious.
The space isnt the best -- it can be a bit cramped -- but there are so many talented jazz musicians who come through Iridium. Really interesting acts, IMHO. Plus, the prices are fairly reasonable. Definitely a must for jazz lovers.
Nice intimate venue for music. Good acoustics. Friendly staff. I didnt try the food so I cant comment on that.
Amazing sound system! Could have had a stronger AC and extra bar tenders.
I cant believe that I am giving my favorite music venue, which I have been to many times over the years, a low rating, I was highly highly disappointed at the Oz Noy show last night, the food used to be fantastic, the food is far from impressive now, I ordered coconut shrimp and the Ellington chicken sandwich, they were terrible, very good food items such as crab cakes, were removed from their menu, and replaced with sub par cooking and food, HEY IRIDIUM, IF IT AINT BROKE, DONT FIX IT.There was a couple who were seated by staff at my table, when they received their bill they complained that the bill was too high, come to find out they had general admission seats but were seated by staff because there were no seats without informing them they have to pay more because they were seated in the preferred seating area. Instead of the manager acknowledging her staffs mistake, she scolded them by reciting policy rather than acknowledge her staff person messed up by not informing them they have to pay more. The couple told me and my daughter that they frequent The Iridium and never have they been treated like this. The Iridium appears to be falling off of its game, Iridium dont let that happen, PLEASE. Let me raise this low rating of 3 become 5 again.
On Monday, May 6th, I visited Iridium to watch an Otis Taylor live event, who by the way was amazing. My bill was $35.22 and when the show ended I rushed to catch the train to New Jersey. I asked the service lady to take care of my bill and obviously by mistake she charged my card with another bill which was up to $126.30 that I NEVER SIGNED FOR. I called in the same night and left a message, I wrote twice to their contact us page in internet, no-one contacted me. I called again on Thursday, May 9th, I talked to a lady there, she said she would say it to the manager. Till today, May 18th, I have not received any response from them.Avoid it if you dont want to get ripped off.Alexandros Karantzas
Great food with a good view to the stage at every seat. I just wished they wouldnt serve your meal as the band is about to start.
Awesome venue!!Staff was GREAT....and another Amazing show!!
Almost a secret. In the heart of Times Square is this Jazz cub where for a reasonable price you can hear great music. The food is pretty good to as American food goes
My wife and I saw JJ Sansaverino here for his 50th Birthday party. Great sound system and there really isnt a bad seat in the place. Would definitely go back!
What a fabulous place to see a concert!!! The Kobe burger was delicious!! The staff was so very accommodating!! Been there 3 times and will definitely go back!
Im a bit disappointed about the experience getting into the Iriduim jazz club. The line outside was a mess....I mean seriously how do you botch such a simple process. Folks that arrived first essentially were asked to enter last! Absolutely the worst logistical execution Ive ever seen. The music was awesome. Place sounds wonderful. Totally enjoyed our seats. But man they need to figure out a simple way to enter.
Bad experience, Bad attention and food. The type that accommodates people, disastrous. I came from Mexico. The music very well.
If it was not the music it would never go here, but staff is nice, food is easy to forget, music is always extraordinary, like to talk a few words with musicians after show.
