The Magician

Space is bigger than I expected, good sized bar and outside seating are available. I didnt have food while here, nor did I ask. So I cant for sure say if they serve food or not. Drinks were good and not crazy on the pocket. I was here for a networking / social event, so I did a lot of standing. I know that the space looked different by the time I was leaving with extra tables and chairs.

Lovely bartenders here, and welcoming diverse crowd. Summer Breeze cocktail was splendid and light. Beers on tap as you’d want, plus wine. Fun spot.

No food here. The drinks are nice and cheap. Bartenders are friendly. Good for small and big groups. Open seating and bar area. Happy hour all week 5-8

Dan White is absolutely math-magical!!! My daughter and I along with our friends had an incredible time. Mind blown by his performance. A must see for NYers and out-of-towners. We were thoroughly impressed. On top of the show being amazing, Dan is also humble, kind and funny. Lovely meeting him after the show. Super down to earth.

I really liked this bar! The music was just the right volume to be able to hear your friends and there was a ton of seating to choose from. Drink prices were reasonable and the friendly bartenders were quick to get your drinks. Good vibes all around!

Outside looks a little shabby but inside is nice and clean. Cash only. Happy hour pints at $5 and Budweiser bottle is $3

Good place with a good beer and liquor selection. Its in a busy part of town but almost never seems to be overcrowded or too busy. Cash only, so dont try to bring cards also no food on site. They will let you bring in outside food, however, and theres a space in the back with ample tables for dining and chatting with friends. Would recommend.

By a mile, my favorite spot to grab a beer after work! Super chill, great music, and good prices. Genuinely love this place.

Happy hour has good specials but the ambience inside is a bit weird, dark throughout bar. no food service. bartender was nice and made good drinks.

Decent prices at happy hour (5, but used to be 3.50 a beer) and good service. Love the Irish lady. It gets supper packed at night, but I usually come for happy hour drinks. Great A.C., and they let me eat my tacos from across the street. Really is a 4.5 now that I think about it.

Great bar! I hosted a party in the back room (which you can reserve for free!) and it was a great space! Management is very kind and drinks are cheap and strong!

This is my favorite bar in the lower east side. It is really great and calm and they play dad rock and the drinks are good and until recently it had the best happy hour in the area. Also Dilly the bartender is super cool and half the reason I go so often.

Quiet atmosphere during the early part of happy hour. Can get pretty packed on Saturday night with most people being tools, but its LES; every bar on Saturday night is filled with tools. Drinks are stiff and happy hour is cheap ($3 draft and well drinks)!

Feels like this place used to be a dinner but was converted to a bar. Its a no thrills, cheap drinks haunt that will be one of my go tos when in the area. Its not too loud either so you can definitely have a good conversation with friends. It does get busy though.

A great dive bar in the LES that isn’t too “divey”. Very fun for groups late at night and they have a great happy hour!!!!

Excellent happy hour! I actually accidentally paid for my buddys drink because the two were so cheap! Theres plenty of space in here, too. I was visiting while there was an office holiday party going on in the back and there was still plenty of room.

I looove the magician. Just don’t serve me wine in a water glass again please lol.

One of my favorite bars to visit in the city. I ususally get the $4 genny cream ale. Service is great. Most of the time Ive gone it hasnt been too busy which is nice. Every once in a while itll be busy but the wait time for a drink is under 5 minutes.

Regretted ordering when my drink came in a plastic cup. Wasteful single use plastic for everything. Buy a dishwasher and serve drinks properly. Bartender also didn’t seem too thrilled to be a bartender. Could be a decent place based on the physical space, but poorly run. Won’t return.

The Magician is one of the best pubs in NYC. Great atmosphere, good vibe, excellent place. See Gavin at the bar. He is the BEST!!

I wanted to find a classic bar in NY while on assignment covering Fashion Week for White Caviar Life - and fulfil my first trip to New York - stumbled across The Magician and it was Magic! It was also happy hour which is the best king of magic of all! Tried three of the craft beers, every one of them was good, good than better than good.. Service was friendly as well. I didnt want to leave! But fashion week beckoned, there were more things to do.. Check oout this bar; great vibe, classic! Thank you to The Magician :-)

Good drinks & customers but the energy behind the bar made a significant difference. A smile goes a long way. Attitude doesnt.

Spacious bar but my last visit in October 2022 with a tourist friend left a sour taste in both of our mouths because of the bartenders repellent attitude

My neighborhood bar of choice. A ragtag crew of interesting and often charming people behind the bar, a good mix of New York in front. Surprisingly good juke box, unbeatable happy hour, and vibe thatd make Bogart beam.

Ah the magician. some of my favorite people on the planet work in this bar. they have a happy hour and drink deals that cant be beat. sometimes the clientele can be a bit obnoxious and it can get really packed, but its the only place in the neighborhood that doesnt make me want to kill everyone around me after 11PM.

Its a locals bar. Who in their right mind would come in here? It is a great place to get a drink in a wonderful part of town. Have a beer, have a good evening.

I dont really understand what this bar is trying to be and who theyre marketing towards. Demographics ranged wildly. Still, not packed and a good spot to grab a guaranteed drink

Havent been in a few months, but this is a great place for happy hour. Really cheap deals. Only issue is that its cash only and sometimes it gets smelly when its crowded.

Solid bar. Low price at happy hour. No frills, because why would you need frills when youre nursing your Guinness.

Dimly lit and chill bar. Always come here for a casual drink. The biggest caveat is that it is cash only. Otherwise, chill music and environment.

No-frills, relaxed bar. I love hanging here and headed to Local 138 (for Happy Hour) or Pianos to get groovy

The bartenders are all great here. Gets a little crowded on weekend nights but tolerable.

Lots of space and almost no one in there to bother you. Great for getting a lot of people to meet at one spot and plan the rest of the night.
