I had the pleasure of getting a Japanese manicure and pedicure done by Marcia, and she was absolutely excellent. She paid meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every step was perfect.Marcia was not only skilled but also incredibly gentle and patient, making the whole experience relaxing and enjoyable. My nails have never looked better—smooth, glossy, and flawlessly shaped. I highly recommend Marcia for anyone looking for top-notch nail care!Will definitely be coming back 🤍!

Mariana was one of the best nail artists Ive ever had. The preparation conversation before her meticulous work on my manicure was unlike anything Ive experienced. We discussed why I was choosing gel polish, what my nail shape was like, nail growth, the positives of a dry manicure, and more. She was able to see video of the design I wanted, and was careful to get it perfect before moving on with the rest of my nails. Thanks to her expertise, suggestions, and skill, my gel manicure lastest the longest it ever has, and my nails managed to keep length after the gel was gone. Mariana was so enjoyable to talk with, and the front staff was very welcoming and kind. I felt the price was very fair as well.

Marta at Upper West Spa is absolutely amazing! I started seeing her monthly the year before my wedding and she completely transformed my skin. She picked out the best treatments for me to try each month leading up to the wedding and guided me to the perfect skincare routine. My skin has never looked better and I am getting asked what I’m doing often by friends and family! Couldn’t recommend Marta any more to take care of your skin!

This salon is a 10/10 and I tell all of my family and friends about it. The great service starts from the moment you walk in because the receptionists are always pleasant and welcoming. I also never have to worry about which facialist I book, even if Im booked with someone new, because they are always super nice and do thorough job. If you’re looking for a new spot to get regular facials, I couldn’t recommend this place more! It’s definitely worth the price.

I have been coming to this group of estheticians for over 30 years. The most unlikely people will suddenly compliment me on my skin at moments when we are not talking about age or skin or beauty at all. Joanna and her team are up to date on the latest procedures working very carefully and with the best results consistently. They decide from their own experience which new things should be added to what they offer and which are not worthwhile. It feels so good to literally be in the hands of skin experts who I trust completely.

Mariana SAVED my nails after years of going to quick, cheap manicure places in the neighborhood. The kokoist gel is so much less harsh on your nails, and it last seriously forever. Ive gone 5 weeks on one service before, no joke. Mariana is a sweet, hilarious, extremely talented artist (because nail tech doesnt cover what this wizard of a woman does). Shes knowledgeable about nail health and teaches you healthy habits to keep them looking and feeling great. She gave me these special nails for my birthday - these are my NATURAL NAILS. Theyre so strong and *knock on wood* they havent broken yet even with being so long!All this to say: book your nails with Mariana, she is a true gem. I hope Ill be trying some of the spas facials one day as well, all of the staff are so friendly!

5 star review because the facial and treatments I received from Marta improved the look of my skin significantly. She made recommendations for me to follow when I am home. And we discussed future treatments that would further improve the health and appearance of my skin.

Today, I had yet another fabulous facial appointment with Marta! I have been coming to the Upper West Spa (UWS) for several years, and even bring my 17 year old daughter for services with Marta. We had tried having my daughter get waxed at several different places, but until Marta, my daughter would never allow anyone BUT Marta to wax her! We both love Marta! I dont know what Freya G. is talking about in her review of Marta and the service she received by her, but Marta is the sweetest, most pleasant, most gentle and absolutely the most professional aesthetician! I cannot see or even imagine Marta EVER treating someone as Freya G. described. I really cannot believe anything in her review! I would never, ever hesitate asking for Marta, and would ALWAYS recommend her! And if my 17 year old would only allow Marta to perform waxing and facial services on her, that should tell you something! Marta is the BEST! As far as Freya G. bringing her dog to the UWS...I never saw or heard of anyone being allowed to have a dog in a spa! A spa and/or nail salon is supposed to be two of the most tranquil places, that even a service dog would not be needed at. If you are someone in need of having a service dog in one of those establishments, then perhaps you should have those services done in your own home. Its not appropriate to bring a dog to a spa or nail salon, just like its not appropriate to bring a dog into a supermarket or food establishment, where the atmosphere for everyone is to be clean and sanitary! Bottom line...dogs are simply not appropriate in these settings!

I came here for the first time for a facial and had a great experience. My skin has been doing badly in NY and Marta helped calm my rosacea flair up. I felt comfortable, relaxed, and reassured the entire time. I would definitely return!

Upper west spa is such a special secret hidden gem that I was hesitant to write this review….(I believe the kids call this “gatekeeping”)It is by far the best of the best. Facials, laser, nails, every treatment is incredible and Joanna ( the owner ) is a master esthetician. She deserves the hype. They are perfectionists; proving quality and integrity are not a lost art. Upper west Spa is the best.

Omg - this was one of the best massages Ive ever had in my entire life - and Ive had plenty of massages. the front desk was super nice and accomodating. i had a massage with Iwona and she was wonderful. she was straight to business!! and didnt talk unless i talked - which i loved! some masseuses will just talk talk and talk... and then u cant relax! Iwona hit some awesome pressure points and as i was getting the massage i even added on an extra 15 min bc i didnt want it to be over! this spa is perfect if you want a boutique like feel thats reasonably priced and not too ritzy. love it and will def be back!!!!!!

I was recently in NYC for a quick trip and found Upper West Spa. Not only was I able to book a pedicure online, they had openings that same week! Mariana was amazing - super gentle with my nails, really knowledgeable about nail health and an all-around amazing human. I told her that I may just have to make frequent trips from Detroit to NYC just for her!

Each person who I have contact with is welcoming and a pleasure to see. The environment is clean, attractive, fresh and up to date. Each of the 4 services that I receive earn a 10. The manicures are attentive to my personal problems and are beautiful. The eye brow and lash services are my as good as they get and the massage left me very happy. The latest most up to date equipment, and high quality products are used. I am always treated with the highest professional courtesy. This is a small space that is well used and where every detail receives careful attention.

Over 20 years I have trusted all of my skincare to this incredible team and can’t imagine going anywhere else. Highly personalized, expert, professional and always friendly and accommodating. I especially rely on their jet peel facial and microneedling for maintaining great skin, but whenever a problem issue pops up they deliver the solution. The best!!

As a former client of Feline Day Spa i have been following the staff that work here ever since Feline closed down few years ago. Im so happy to see them all together in this spectacular new location. I felt relaxed the moment i walked through the door. Everybody is genuinely friendly and professional. I get regular facials, massages and recently started laser hair removal. After only second session there is a significant difference. Joanna underpromissed and overdelivered as always! She did the same for my breakouts, it cleared my skin sooner than expected. Dolores spa pedicures are to die for, i usually snore 10 min into it :):).Great job ladies! I wish you all the best and cant wait for another visit.

I needed a facial because my skin broke out badly; most likely from sweating with a mask on. So I decided to make an appointment with Lucina and was amazed at the precautions they took to assure your safety. The spa looked really clean and was disinfected. Also I was informed the air conditioning system is individually set for each room which I found to be comforting. The staff was wearing masks and shields the whole time. I felt very safe during my whole visit. My skin feels clean and is glowing! Lucina did a really fantastic job and was very thorough with the extractions for the facial. I got my next appointment with Lucina already booked. I highly recommend Upper West Spa and Lucina.

Ive had a variety of services at Upper West Spa - pedicures, a massage, a facial, and laser hair removal. Everyone is friendly and professional, the services are top notch, and the facilities are clean and stylish. If you do need laser hair removal, I highly recommend Lucyna!

Great place for facials. Run by people who know what they are doing. By that I mean, non-Americans. Its a little expensive for sure but they dont expect you to tip and their price is all inclusive. My only suggestion is to allow cancellation and reschedule after a few days or so, if they think that your skin is unsuitable for a particular treatment you originally booked for, instead of trying to invariably offer an alternate service just to leverage that hour of what they could have profited from.

I had a facial here in late November/early December, done by Joanna. I can honestly tell you it was the best facial I have ever received. I have very sensitive skin and it tends to react to new products or anything out of my standard and very ordinary skincare regime. Joanna inspected my skin upon doing anything to it and also asked me a variety of questions ranging from diet and exercise, stress levels, cleanliness, etc. to get to know it better. Joanna then treated my skin in a few different ways. She explained everything as she was doing it and the purpose of what she was doing or applying. It was very informative, while still being extremely relaxing. Typically after a facial, Im subjected to hide since my face is red from the extraction, but have had the extractions done in the middle of the treatment, I was able to confidently go to dinner afterwards without worrying whether or not I would be all blotchy. Not only did my skin feel clean and wonderful but it as glowing! It did have your standard reaction the next few days, as it was purging all of the toxins, but it subdued quickly. I cant wait to make my next appointment and share the Upper West Spa with all of my friends and family!

I recently went for my second laser in the Upper West Spa with Joanna. I used to shave every other day and after just my first session I saw a huge reduction in hair growth. After my second laser, I barely have to use a razor anymore, she didnt miss any patches. It is honestly the best place to get a laser in the city. It was clean and professional and the spa is absolutely beautiful and everyone is so nice. I googled the laser they use and its is considered the best for hair removal. The place is amazing.

First of all the place was clean! The person at the desk was friendly and personable. Finally, Magdelena knew what she was doing. I have not had a massage since pre-pandemic, and it was good to have someone so knowledgeable. I work at a school. She calmed me down and made me feel relaxed. I have already booked another appointment. I will refer people. Thank you!!

Most fabulous oasis you will find for your skin. Marta is a genius - I have been seeing her for years and I always get compliments on my skin. My skin is very sensitive and she always knows exactly what to do to make it look amazing. I have also had waxing and manicures done there and you always get exceptional service. I even send my mother to Marta since I know she will be in terrific hands. Marta and staff are warm, professional and you dont feel as if youre getting a pushy sales pitch to buy products. I almost dont want to write this review since I want Marta and team to be my beauty secret!

I had to wait 10 minutes because the esthetician was selling products to her previous customer. Then, when we were ready to start, I asked her to make sure I’d get 45 minutes treatment (which is what I scheduled), and instead of apologizing for being late, she gave me an atitude and said that they are about the results not the minutes, but if I was so concerned about the minutes she would go by it. The facial itself was nice, but at the end I got charged for 1 hour worth services. My total was $225. Only 10 minutes of microdermabrasion and the rest was a regular facial! I will not return to this spa.

The aestheticians are just incredible here! I have followed them since Feline and now Joanna (the master) has opened a beautiful spa with many of the lovely and skilled people from Feline. I recently visited this spa for the first time and had the Jet Peel Transdermal Infusion facial with Joanna. Both the facial and Joanna were amazing. Joanna was a wealth of information regarding this facial as it was my time and explained what she would be doing but also allowing me to relax. I received a call prior to my appointment informing me that they were running about 15 minutes behind and I was so impressed that they actually called to tell me that. Additionally, once I arrived they apologized a few times for running behind. To me this signaled that they respected their clients time and I think thats lacking in most businesses today. Happy I found this place! Looking forward to going back!

I LOVE this place. Every time I come in I get treated like royalty, maybe even family. The receptionist was extremely friendly and offered me water the second I stepped in, she asked how my day was going as well. When I saw my aesthetician she was also very very nice. It was my first time getting waxed and she walked me through the entire process from start to finish. She made me feel very comfortable. I have been going to Upper West Spa since it opened and before that when the proprietor worked at Felines. Surrounded as we are nowadays with chains, many times staffed with indifferent, poorly paid, and sometimes downright hostile employees, it is gratifying to walk into an independently owned business where the owner is actively involved in the quality of service or goods provided.I walked into Upper West Spa and was greeted by name by the owner, who was solicitous and cordial. All the workers at this salon are, which also reflects on the harmonious working environment nurtured by the owner.I go out of my way to patronize such independent businesses in the city.

I came here following Helena C from Felines. This is the same extraordinary facial she has been providing for over 15 years but in a more relaxing and nicer place. I totally recommend her for deep facial treatments and Upper West Spa to enjoy an oasis from NYC hectic rhythm. Such a wonderful find! My facial was so relaxing, I fell fast asleep, and awoke to beautiful dewy skin. I was then able to schedule an eyebrow tweeze before I left, so it was a very productive visit. Joanna is the only person I trust with my skin! People say that acne gets better as we get older. For some reason after minimal acne throughout high school and most of college, my skin decided to have a melt down during my senior year of university. Acne came back with vengeance, my face was red, sensitive and constantly covered with breakouts. Joanna helped me get my skin back!!!She also did my laser hair removal during my monthly home visits from college. I dont remember last time I had to shave/ wax. I saw Joanna for an exfoliating facial. She is clearly an expert, very knowledgable, kind, patient and skilled. She gave me great tips, went over everything so I understood. She also gives a great massage for neck, shoulder, scalp, hands and arms. I plan to return.

There is nobody else who makes facials more relaxing and comfortable than her. She always makes my skin feel amazing afterwards. She is very skilled and knowledgeable in skin care which is what got my attention. Her medical aesthetician background as well as her many years of experience in this field which is over 25 years makes her my go to for skincare. This is the best place for laser hair removal! Joanna is incredibly professional and caring. She makes it her mission to make sure the laser treatment is effective without hurting her patient or damaging skin.

Lucyna is meticulous! She is the only Aesthetician I’ve ever tried who gets every last eyelash & brow hair when I have my eyelashes and eyebrows dyed, so I’ve been going to her for years. She is also just a lovely person and lovely to talk to.

I’m so grateful this boutique spa is back up and running.Exceptional face and body care. Amazing how in an hour plus I can go from feeling drab to fab. The best spa treatment on the upper west side. I had the best facial, laser hair removal, and gel mani and pedi done at this location. I was treated like royalty, thank you all upper west spa staff for your amazing clientele.

This place is one of the most cleanest and welcoming I have ever been to. Their services are high quality with variety of add on to the regular price list. The staff is knowledgeable, helpful and professional. The owner built a new gem spot in the neighborhood. They are accommodating to all types of needs. Even though they opened in September, the good reputation is already established. Just try and you will comeback.
