I sure am gonna miss this place. I have seen a variety of acts here, including Little Richard, Belinda Carlisle, George Clinton - and THE MAN himself, BB King. Opening act for George Clinton - Miss Velvet and The Blue Wolf, really really ROCKED the house!I read that The Times Square location has closed, and may reopen at a Union Square. That is good news ... Thank you for a great time over the last 18 years .. It sure was a blast!
I went last night to see Carl Thomas with my friends. I enjoyed the show but it was very crowded. I think they overbooked the venue because a lot of people had to stand. The bathroom lines were ridiculous. Our waitress was nice but because it was so crowded we hardly saw her .It seems like a cool place to hang out and listen to music but I could take or leave the food. I enjoyed my catfish nuggets appetizer but the chicken and waffles were not good. The chicken was soggy and flavorless. I paid 30.00 for that. At least you do get a lot of food for your money. If I go back I will stick to appetizers and a drink or maybe just drinks.
Went to see Jerry Lee Lewis there and he was terrific. I gave it a 4 and thats being nice because I enjoyed the show so much. They have a great line up of entertainment that will bring you in but the place itself has much to be desired. First of all there was a $10 minimum for each person. The tickets were over $100 each to get in. Your crammed in to tight tables with old ripped up chairs that were uncomfortable. THEN the menu to order from only had 1 thing for $10 and that was a cup of soup. A burger was $20. I looked around at what others got and every order was a small portion on a big plate. Since we ate before we got there, we ordered banana splits at $12 a piece. They were small and the ice cream was mostly ice. Didnt even eat half of it. Because of Jerry Lee I give it a 4. If he wasnt there I would give it a 2.
Incredibly uncomfortable experience. We had VIP tickets waited on line with everyone else while people walked right around us. Once seated they placed 6 people on a table that would barely fit 4 people comfortably. Took 25m to order drinks. Took 25m to receive them. Took another 25+ to order food and 25 for the food to get to the table. By that time the show started so the lights went out so you really couldnt enjoy your meal. The people next to us got under-cooked chicken so they ended up eating just the salad. I would no go back. Its a tourist trap. The seating was the main problem. I hope this helps someone else. BTW we left 1/2 into the show. The couple next to us did too.
We went to a show of the Harlem Gospel Choir and there were several things I disliked:- Every person was required to eat or drink something for at least $10- The food was terribly overprized and not good at all- The seating was extremely crowded, you couldn’t move- The staff was unfriendly and unattentive, the check was wrong twice- The show itself went on for about 1.5 hours, but they only sang 6(!!) songs. The rest was talking and advertising
BB Kings or shall I say MM Kings for Money Making Kings. I went here Saturday night for Brandy. The doors opened at 7pm but the wait time to get in was insane. The line was a half a new york city block long. I did not get in until 750pm. Only to find out, they had one person checking tickets and highly encouraging people to do coat check which was another line to stand in, all before entering the main room. This created a bottle neck from the start, a totally bad set up.Now I have been to BB Kings before to see a friend perform, I thought the place had a nice ambience, and intimate setting. Well unfortunately I couldnt say the same about this evening. They removed most of the seating and there the place became a shoulder to shoulder affair in no time. It was literally a high priced ticket master night club event, I had no idea that it would be set up this way and apparently I wasnt the only one. I over heard many people utter its not usually like this. Now this was not your 21yr old club hopper crowd. This was a late 20s to early 50s working class crowd.Clearly BB Im sorry MM was out to make money. They still offered there full service over priced dine in menu. So, be careful not to bump the guy standing next to you with the full salad plate or the woman to leaning on your back with the buffalo wings and fries.Somehow I held my mental and made it to 9pm, showtime! ok ok... 9:10pm, showtime! Thats record breaking cp time for a music show, and you know it. Theres one thing they got right, only because there was another band playing at 11pm. Its all about the benjamins baby. One reason I didnt mind paying for the way over priced tickets was because I thought I would be nice to see Brandy in a somewhat small venue and have and intimate setting to enjoy her performance. Sorry not like that at all. Way too many damn people. You couldnt see what the place looked like and the sound quality was horrendous. I dont even know if they did a sound check and Im not sure if would have matter unless they packed the place with 1000 people to do it.My night ended early, I held on as long as I could but with little room to hold my drink, find a comfortable position, or person to lean on. I had to say goodbye to Brandy and never again to MM King. It was a disappointing evening that I thought Brandy would save but Im not sure if she noticed us. She gave a light camera action performance, moving from stage right to left without ever really playing to the audience. Who knows, maybe she couldnt hear either.
Went to see Y&T a couple of nights ago. The band was great. The service by some of the staff, not so much. We paid extra for VIP tickets which means you are guaranteed a seat. We got there about 7 (show started at 8) and were seated at a table. We sat there for about an hour, ordering drinks and appetizers, when I was approached by the manager asking who sat us there. The venue is extremely loud so I could barely hear him. He kept coming back asking what my husbands name was and who sat us there. Finally he tells us there was a mistake and we couldnt sit where we were sitting. He told us the table was reserved for the owners friends! Reluctantly we moved. We were originally at a good table with a good view of the stage. The table they moved us to was so tight because there were people already there and behind us. I had to turn my body the entire show to see the stage and it was extremely uncomfortable. My husband asked the manager if he would buy us a drink for the inconvenience. The manager just looked at us like we were a bunch of idiots. The waitress did end up giving us a few free drinks and she was phenomenal. However we planned to order dinner there but changed our minds after the way the manager treated us. The worst part of all was that NO ONE ended up sitting at the table we had to vacate! The place is crowded enough as it is. They pack 6 people into a table that is really only suitable for 4. I would go back again if there was a band I really like but would just be leery of some of the staff.
A fun venue for small performances while having dinner. The food was fine, but the service was not so good. I understood that we had a new server, but our food came out at different times and before the drinks. To the credit of the establishment, the manager on duty did help take care of us. We all left happy and I would definitely return.
I love this venue because they host a lot of my favorite artists. I see they have a lot of bad reviews, Ive read some and can understand the viewers frustrations. But one thing people fail to realize, you get to see a show for much cheaper than most venues, its an intimate setting, do its a little more personal. Depending on the artist determines whether or not there will be standing room only. If the artist brings out a huge crowd, then there will be no seating, I can understand that. Some of the staff and management are rude, but the ones who are pleasant make you forget the rude ones. Food isnt the greatest, the drinks can be cheaper, but overall Im there to see my favorite artists. The building can use a renovation, but again overall, I normally enjoy the shows. The staff may need sensitivity training, except for a young man named Marty, he is the sweetest, and he shows concern and compassion for every patron.
Great atmosphere and the food was amazing. The lunch special options are great plus you cant beat the price. We really enjoyed the food. We went around 5pm during the week. It wasnt busy and there wasnt live music, so it was a perfect time to take my 13 year old son.
You can hear some good music and enjoy a meal. It does get crowded and you must arrive early for good seats. It even helps to have reservations. Sometimes you have to wait on a long line just to get in. Its all back in the day music and some great artist may perform from time to time. Seating is not easy because of how the tables are situated. If you are there alone you might meet a couple of new people at your table.
I ordered chicken and waffles. The food was alright, but it took sooooo long for the food and drink to arrive. The staff was nice and all, but I payed good money to go there and I didnt get much time to eat. I was there on a field trip. My group arrived 1st and we good food last. Plus, the cups are easily breakable. The bathroom lines are super long, and, me and my group got yelled at for trying to find a different bathroom 🚻. My rating would have been higher if the service was a bit better. No hate on the staff and the chefs, though.
We went to the gospel brunch here. It really was a surprise for me and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. The Harlem Gospel Choir were incredible and Id highly recommend a visit if youre in the area. The open buffet was nice and there were refreshments and drinks too. A beautiful afternoon. I will probably visit again next time Im in NYC.
We didnt have a full dinner, but did have a mac and cheese (ask for the hot sauce, its worth it) and an Oreo brownie sundae. Both were good, but pricey. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the show-- Darlene Love-- was wonderful. Sound was great.
Had a great time with a great Motown show. I didnt enjoy the timeshare-like solicitation at the desk (you look like a smart guy! Sell it, buddy!).Aside from that, the band was great and the restaurant has a great lounge area. The food is good, though its Times Square pricey.
Cannot beat the welcoming atmosphere here. All around well designed and constructed with desirable elongated bar center opposite of stage. View of stage is unobstructed and really no bad seat in the house. Sound is more than expected at a good quality delivery. Service is good and quick and food is tasty but could use a little bit more help on the choice side.
Nice sized club. Ive been here for concerts and Ive been here for other performances. Always a nice experience. Drinks and food are a bit pricey, but the atmosphere is nice and the staff is always nice to me. Never understood why youd want to buy VIP seating at a punk rock concert, but to each their own, I suppose.
Went there for reggae fest. The music was great and the drink we well made; however the crowd brought the rating down. Many 18, 19, 20 year olds. Would have had a better experience with a 25+ crowd. Facilities were standard with a rest room attendant and they had a coat check.
This place was a total disappointment. Took a friend for his Birthday Day for the Decade of Soul Concert.. Service was horrible. Found my self chasing the waiter in order to get 🍸s, order food was never serve. Waiter apologize stated that they were under staff. When I got the bill notice that drinks that we never got were included. Bill was adjusted. Will not recommend this place at all.
Great show but our table was almost in the speakers. That was a bit of a bummer! Also hearing the drummer say just before the show to a first time band member: they are stuffing them with some food before a Broadway show so they will be out of here in no time and easy money for us was not necessary!
Very intimate setting... great vibez... enjoyed Melanie Fiona Show... you really get to feel this artist in this environment. Good drinks... food could be better... if u seeing a show pay the extra for VIP (table service) as oppose to standing by the bar
First time at BB King Blues Club! It reminds me of a House of Blues. Decent food and great music! Pricey drinks! Awesome staff and very inviting atmosphere. Heads up! If you go to a concert at this venue and buy general admission seating! Get there early to get a seat. I learned this the hard way! When I got to the show, and I was on time. The hostess said that they didnt have anymore seats available. Well, I had on heels and that just wasnt an option. But once I got a manager involved, I got an awesome seat near stage.
There really needs to be a 0 Star option on here. If you do take it upon yourself to patronize this establishment, DO NOT pay extra for VIP seating. I waited for the entirety of the event to be seated. My only interaction with the person responsible for seating was actually him being nasty about those waiting in the designated area as I ended up in the stairway trying to actually pay attention to the reason I was even there. I was offered no recourse. So, I paid extra to stand behind people who paid less and enjoyed themselves more and couldn’t even see Frankie Beverly behind the damn pillar. I tried to have a good time despite feeling completely played to no avail.
M.E.A.T. Party : I honestly cant speak to the normal experience of dining and live music, but I have been a few times for an underground dance party that BB King hosts. The venue is large enough for two separate dance floor areas with designated DJs. The sound system is pretty good. They have enough bathroom availability so people arent waiting in long lines on their breaks from the dance floor. The drinks are priced how youd expect of a concert-style venue. As the place is used normally as a dining venue, youll find lots of seating near the dance floors which I think is a good thing.
Love the place. Just felt that in the name of the late B. B. King, it could have looked a little more of a professional establishment. The seating arrangements need a lot more work and coordination to it.The music and the event was fabulous.Food was excellent I had the catfish meal.
Ive seen two acts here so far. Both times the show was great, but I left thinking the venue was terrible. I hate that you buy a ticket for a show and then when you get there, they force you into a table with a drink minimum and expect you to order food. Im here to listen to live music not eat, especially over priced bad food. When we just ordered drinks our waiter came back and pointed out that he gave us a double but only charged us for a single. Ok thanks thats nice. However after the show when trying to pay he mentioned this fact several more times. When we got the bill we noticed that that gratuity was also included. My wife was unsure about how this was calculated and asked a very reasonable question in a polite way about it. Then server snapped back in a mean tone talking about how he gave us free drinks and we should tip and so on. We were still planning on tipping extra but after that exchange we just signed the check grabbed our coats and left. Honestly I will try and avoid this venue in the future. There are so many awesome concert halls in NYC go somewhere else if you can,
Great venue to see a show, but the VIP seating blows. The seats are so close together, if the person next to you is slightly overweight, you are going to need a body condom. Stage right in the room is the temperature of hell once the show gets going; stage left is drafty in the winter. For the high VIP ticket prices, if management had a soul, give 3 inches between chairs to avoid people feeling like livestock. The drinks are ok, the food is meh. You are better off eating elsewhere and drinking your $10 per person table minimum. Table service is truly the luck of the draw. Some events, I have had great service, other times I had MIA servers where I actually felt thirsty after a show. A tipped bathroom attendant at a show venue is a ripoff, especially when the toilets are basically unusable 45 minutes into the show.
So very disappointed in this place. Over priced, cold food and very, very expensive drinks. As a venue, it’s not too bad, as long as you don’t mind being squeezed in next to strangers. Go see your band but drink and eat elsewhere. It’s obvious that making money is more important than their customers experience. I shall never set foot in place again as we were blatantly and systematically ripped off. Over $52 for three vodka shots.? Outrageous, particularly as I nor my husband could taste any vodka in the drinks I ordered. Waitress service hit and miss, probably just as well really. Dread to think what the bill would have been had she been really attentive. My advice? Give this place a miss.
Food is extremely over priced, and tasted horrible. Beer was warm and flat. Tickets overpriced. Paid for a table close to the stage, all for the privilege of staring at the asses of the people in front of me standing near the stage. They seem to have forgotten what air conditioning is, as I sweat like I ran a marathon the entire night. Last time I willingly step foot in the place.
We spontaneously visited BB Kings whilst passing by in New York and enjoyed our time there. Whilst we loved the food and the show was fantastic, we felt misled because we were told we couldnt enter without buying a ticket to the show. We paid entry and found you could sit literally next to the ticketed seats and enjoy a meal there anyway, whilst listening to the same music. A great night was had, but unclear and misleading about the entry terms.
Ugh!! Tourist trap of the highest order. When you buy a ticket in advance they dont tell you you may not have a seat and could stand at the bar. We arrived at 7 for an 8 PM show with Darlene Love (who was great) were escorted to the far side balcony with barely visible seating to the stage. They want you to come early to drink and eat a lot -$$$. Waitresses are ok but overloaded w guests - took 39 mins to get drinks - wine was like dishwater for $15. Looks like a nice venue but they need a makeover and service training for the entire staff. Never going back there - ever - not worth the hassle, stress and rudeness
I cant believe that after living and working in Manhattan for decades, I just visited BB Kings Blues Club recently for the first time. I am a big fan of the blues and heard BB many times live. We were here for a phenomenal Eric Johnson concert. We sat at a table close to the bar but the sight lines were good and it felt less crowded than other Manhattan music venues with tables. The food was so-so, but the service was good and the drink selection had more than enough good choices. The sound was very impressive, better than some other places. Erics virtuoso guitar work sounded really great and the vocals were clear. In spite of the food we were not crazy about, the layout, decor, service and sound were so impressive that a five-start rating seems fully justified.
Giving this place a 2 is a huge disappointment of what this establishment really is. I gave it a 2 because of the performance I attended on October 6; The Whispers put on an amazing show! But in all honesty, the food and drinks are highly overpriced, the menu is overrated, and what I got was overly disgusting. Never again will I eat there. Ill just go across 42nd Street and check out someplace else to eat after a concert at BB Kings. There are a ton of other restaurants around Times Square!
Went to see Keith Sweat and the wait to get in was about over an hour. Standing room only, but the atmosphere was vibin. The food was good and the drinks pricey, but our waiter was great. I thought they over-packed the club so it felt like a fire hazard. Overall, Id go again.
Great venue for music. Food is actually pretty good. Drinks were just okay. Waiter was so welcoming! Saw Peter Rivera, original lead singer of Rare Earth. Concert was fabulous!
I cant say much about this venue honestly. The sound was poor - the music was not loud enough in the back. The stage is positioned such that none of the side tables could see anything. The chatter drowns the artists. The food and beer is overpriced and mediocre. The only good thing to be said is the iconic location and the name the place bears - unless there is a band you absolutely love and must watch - avoid this place. There are so many better jazz and blues clubs and bars all over NY.
Came here for 2 diff shows, one last year and one this year. For the previous show there was table seating throughout the performance space, and for this recent one was standing room, except for the people sitting and eating in the booths (they had to stand to see the performance as well though).Ive never eaten here, but had red wine the 1st time. The 2nd time however, we got drinks from the bar:1. The drinks/bottles were watered down. We did not even get a buzz going. This is from straight liquor (one brown, one clear), on the rocks.2. The drinks were about $15 a piece PLUS gratuity (tip) was already added, bringing the price for 2 drinks to $35 (I would usually give the standard dollar per drink tip, but they decided to add $2.50 tip per drink). The second time around the music was way too loud for the singer, and even the performer mentioned how the sound was off. You couldnt hear the singer as well anymore. However this could have been due to the singers sound person, who turned the music up prior to the performance. The space looks pretty small for the amount of people they get in there, but theres obviously enough space that people came pouring out of there even a while after the show ended. Maybe it just seems smaller because the ceiling seem so low, being that its an underground space. Its dimly lit and has deep red lighting, which gives it a classy loungey type of vibe.Overall, not sure if I would attend again. It would be nice to know beforehand if the performances will have the tables with candles and chairs (a much more relaxing atmosphere) or standing (kills your feet). Maybe its possible to call and find out beforehand.
Let me start off by saying our waiter was AMAZING. Ciro was knowledgeable, courteous , and attentive. We ordered our food which came out at a reasonable time. My steak was overcooked and was taken back immediately. While I was waiting for the meal, someone at the table noticed a bug crawling across the table. We notified the waiter who told his manager immediately. We were in a VIP Booth right in front of the stage, so I didnt want to draw to much attention to the situation. A manager came 20 minutes later by the name of Sam after asking several time to come. She was very abrupt, cold, and made us seem like we were bothering her. She had no remorse and didnt offer to help in any way because the bug might still be there. When I asked if they could move the table she became short with me. The waiter wiped down the area.I asked another worker, if there was another manager I could speak with. I believe his name was Frank. He came to the table right away.He was very helpful, and understanding. Once he left he sent over men to sweep and check the area.I did not want to take those critters home. The concert was great. It was a good night beside the bug and manager Sam.10/24/17I emailed the GM 10/20/17 and still have not received a response as of yet.
I live in Connecticut, and I love going with my best friend to BB Kings. Nice, small venue, not a bad seat in the house! I must add, I have a great time whenever at BB Kings, but was disappointed last week when I visited. The kitchen was under construction, and there was no food. We came from Connecticut, and figured we wouldnt eat beforehand, because they have great dishes there. We bought our tickets the day of the show and there was no mention of it. When we asked the server what he could do for us, all we received was a bowl of pretzels, no offer of anything else. I was disappointed. UPDATE. I spoke with the manager, he was very apologetic. The kitchen construction was suppposed to be finished by showtime, and they ran into some unforeseen problems. He made it right for me. 😁
Great venue to catch your favorite artist when they play, drinks were slightly pricey but the bartenders were pretty chill. Heads up make sure you come in as earliest as possible if you need a table since it is a first come first serve establishment. And sign up for the email blast to see when artists come to play.
Disappointing! Went for lunch and there was only 1 server for 8-10 seated tables. She was great. Food however, not so much. Got chicken & waffles. Waffles were doughballs. She took 5% off. Floors were sticky. Not worth the price of food!
Great music venue for intimate gigs. Went to soul and motown review- first class. Big Daddy Bruce Wayne and the rest of the singers and musicians were outstanding. Also went to Harlem Gospel Choir Sunday brunch session. Great singers and buffet brunch was great too.
We came for the Beatles brunch. They had no coffee. And they had no coffee machines, so they had to go buy some, which took more than 30 minutes (will update with time taken once it gets here). They had 2 servers handling what seemed to be 200 people. Their first announcement was to let us know there is a service charge in addition to your ticket price (should probably mention that when buying tickets). The second announcement was that they were low on silverware, so reuse it. So real curious why I would need to pay an additional service charge.
Ive been there twice before for Regina Belle and also Kc & Jojo and it was great. Had a sit down dinner and drinks. This time I saw Mint condition, they were good but 80% of the people had to stand for the entire show. I went for dinner and drinks and had to stand for the whole show with a packed house. When I bought tickets it didnt say we would have to stand where I twice sat and had dinner enjoying the other shows. Not sure Ill go back not knowing if theirs a chance of standing again.
I enjoyed the seat I received for my Tribute Show. The band played and sang songs to Earth, Wind and Fire, Tina Marie and Tina Turner. A few of the sounds (3) both Singers were flat on. I ordered chili and cornbread for the ten dollar cover charge to sit at the front table. The chili had too much salt and cornbread was undercooked to soft mush. The ambiance was excellent. Anthony Hamilton was playing at the same venue. After leaving the Tribute a Lady offered me her extra ticket to Anthony Hamilton. His show was stupendous. I was so grateful to her overwhelming kindness, able to see two shows at BB King in one night. WOWEE!!!
Went to see a Broadway star and the show itself was good. But I think the venue clearly OVERSOLD too many tickets so there were about twenty people standing, and the doorman couldnt do anything about that, I suspect thats a violation to the fire code. The sound system was so bad that every time the singer sings a high note or sings loudly the tweeter would break. This place really needs to get its act together or other more organized venues will kick its ass really bad...the time will come!
Overly priced and extremely patchy service combined with the absolutely horrendous seating arrangement has been the mark of our visit to enjoy an evening with our favorite band in town. The acoustics of the place is nice but if u want to drink and enjoy, you are at a wrong place.
Very nice environment and place that you should visit at least once, specially for the Gospel or Beatles show. Clean place and food but very ooooold the furniture that shows like the place is drowning (which is not). I just recommend to the managers update the furniture (restore it) that brings a bad image (specially the chairs) and after that...Perfect
We went here to see Edwin McCain and let me start with the positives. Edwin is Awesome no matter where you see him, the show was Wonderful and the sound system is Great! BUT....we ordered the nachos...$19 and we got some stale chips topped with canned cheese whiz, barbeque sauce, something resembling chicken (but I dont think it was) and some runny green stuff which was supposed to be guacamole. It was Disgusting!!! $10 for water.... Really??? There is a $10 minimum per person even after paying $60 something dollars for reserved seats in a booth which is so unfair and not mentioned ahead of time. So if you go to see a show be prepared for the negatives!!!
We went to the BB King Club last Saturday for the Beatles brunch show. The show was fun, esp. shared with friends, but way too expensive ($50). The food was horrible! On top of the ticket cost, we had to pay a tip (imposed amount on us) for no service at all (I dont mean bad service, I mean no service!) I would have graded with no star, but had to click on at least one. Wont be back!
If I were writing this review exclusively about the Harlem Gospel Choir, I would award the performance 5 stars out of 5. The show is stupendous. Unfortunately, this is a review of BB Kings itself, and unfortunately the club leaves much to be desired.First, I should disclose that Im a New Yorker and whenever I venture to tourist town (Midtown Manhattan) I expect service levels to drop, but what happened today at BB Kings surprised me. My husband and I purchased an all-you-can-drink mimosa, brunch and show special on TravelZoo, but after being seated for more than forty minutes neither we, nor the nice two Scottish women (they had purchased the same voucher) with whom we shared a table were approached by wait staff. So, I went to the bar, where one of the three severs stood pouring mimosas into carafes.I nicely explained to the server that our table had sat for three quarters of an hour without service, and that wed like to order drinks. The servers reply (and I am not exaggerating) was, There are only three of us on so youre going to have to wait. Seriously?Another twenty minutes passes, and weve now waited an hour for service, and my husband has grown impatient. He approaches the same server and is basically told shell get there when she gets there.Stunned, and now a little annoyed, he approaches another server and tells her our story. After some encouragement she agrees to give him two drinks and to get to our table when she can--to this servers credit she does visit our table to deliver a small pitcher of mimosas that we share with the nice Scottish couple. That is the one and only time we receive service for the entire show. So, is it worth it to buy the package that includes the all-you-can-drink mimosas? Definitely not. Youll be lucky to get one drink, let alone two. Worse, youll have chase down a surly server who is frustrated because he/she is overworked and stretched beyond capacity. The food was as we expected--mediocre, but you dont come to BB Kings to eat. You come for the show, and the Harlem Gospel Choir is definitely worth the hassle. Just dont count on a drink.
We saw The Tubes here last summer, and it was great. Hot as balls, middle of July, and BBKs is downstairs in the cool basement. Nice and dark too. We had no wait, and our pick of seating. The cover charge is no big deal, who isnt going to have a couple of drinks at a concert? I thought the sound was good, and we were twenty feet from the stage! How can you complain about that? Some people stood at the bar, and thats ok because youre still close.Getting here is not a problem, unless you drive through the Lincoln, and its backed up -which happens at this time a day a lot.(6-7PM). Discounted parking around the block, or take the train or subway. This club needs to be experienced. We liked it enough, that were seeing The Tubes again in Oct 2013. It should be cooler. See ya there!
This is a 21 and over club. The only thing i hate about this place is the long lines outside of the club. when its really cold and you have on a mini dress is no fun. apart from the wait outside, the music is really good. i actually ran into a few celebrities when i recently went to celebrate my friends birthday. they also have a restaurant and their food is really good.
Went to see Tank. Seating was extremely tight for the upper tables. Food was not bad. The workers yanked Tanks picture out of the glass outside while I tried to take a pic in front of it. I see much love for the artist! All about the $$
Was recommended by tour guide....there was a cover charge and plus you had to buy food if you wanted to sit near the band area, so we were able to find 2 seats very close at the bar area. Later we did order an appetizer...
Today, January 22, is my 21st birthday, and I wanted to celebrate it here, a place Ive heard so much about it and always wanted to eat here. The food was amazing! I had the smothered chicken, and my date had the cajun crawfish. We both enjoyed our meals. The only thing we didnt like was the service. Our waitress never introduced herself and did not check on us periodically. I was very disappointed. She was extremely unfriendly and unwelcoming. Like I said she never introduced herself, but we were there around 8, 8:30. She had blonde hair in a ponytail. I wish I had a better experience for my birthday dinner. For this to be BB Kings restaurant & to be treated this way is sad. I will be looking to get in touch with the owners because Im reading others comments and noticing they had similar experiences. I dont think I will ever come back here.Edit: I found out that our servers name was Suzanne. As I said before, she was very unfriendly. Im not sure if its because it was busy that night or what. Regardless, she did not make me feel comfortable. I shouldve left, because I dont think she deserved the included gratuity. But, the food was good. Was it worth it? I dont think so.
The place was pretty but that was it....I ordered a burger well done it was raw and blood was soaking through my bottom bun. My husband got a brisket burger and puked the rest of the evening. The buns on the food were atrocious and stale. I am on my honeymoon so much for having a nice lunch... The waitress didnt speak English as well as she came back after we waited an hour for food and said sorry I forgot then the prices you charged for this terrible food you should be ashamed Im from the south bb himself would be ashamed.
I am writing to you to let you know that my waiter service experience for the VIP seating was atrocious. I am at a loss for words. We ordered drinks which never came. After 30-40 minutes I approached our Waiter at the bar area and he said Youll have to wait so we did a bit more and still no service. Finally we gave up and went to the bar. The show and music was amazing but Ill probably never come back. Our server was a white guy with short brown hair and he wore glasses.
Went a few years ago to see Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush. The venue is ok, maybe getting up there in age a bit but very typical Mid town. Did not eat there and the drinks are overpriced but to me thats just standard club scene stuff. Had a good time even though it was crowded. It appears by the reviews that the performing acts seem to dictate the outcome of the evening. All in all. Id say its a good venue to see a show.
I loved the venue. We saw Randy Bachman. I honestly only remember him from Bachman Turner Overdrive. But his show was so much more. He was great! My only complaint was the tables and chairs are packed in too tightly.
The worst food I have eaten in 50 years. There were three of us, we have all plates almost fully go back. The prices for such a meal are outrageous. The band had funfair quality was not worth 10 cents. The motto of this club, if people fall in by themselves, it does not need quality. What a terrible memory!
This was the worst atmosphere and food I have every witness in my life!, WE ordered a drink and never got it for 45 minutes which was when the Harlem Gospel Choir was finished singing. We enjoyed the singing, the older African American Woman was great. I am not a big woman, but I felt like a sardine packed in a stinky sticky mess! I would say we drove 4 hours for nothing, dont waste your time!
Decent venue but food is WAY overpriced. Most entrees have very small portions. Dont come hungry. Ordered rack of ribs and it only came with 6 ribs for $30. Pork Chops is only 1 small chop. Wish I could post a picture of the ribs. Needed a Chipotle burrito after the Ralphie May show Feb 2016.
My dad and I attended the Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes show at BB Kings Time Square in March 2018. While the venue brings some great shows in an intimate, throwback atmosphere, I would strongly recommend avoiding this venue.Throughout Southside’s headline set, Johnny and the other band members requested the sound engineer to turn up or otherwise adjust the sound of their instruments and mikes. This began with the very first song, when the sound was exceptionally low, and continued through the last song two hours later when Johnny could not be heard over his background vocals. Every time he reached for his microphone it screamed feedback. It was so bad that in about the fifth song of the set, the band broke into a musical interlude while Johnny left the stage to go to the board and provide instructions. He was unable to get the problems corrected - the sound issues and the band’s understandable frustration with them, were a constant distraction throughout the night. For the band’s part, they worked hard and played through it pretty well, but the end of the set was rushed and there was no encore. Also, we purchased VIP tickets that were promoted as first-come, first-seated. We arrived almost an hour before doors to make sure we were able to pick a good seat. The host who seated us did not explain that the club’s policy was for twosomes to sit across from one another, with essentially one facing away from the stage. We were permitted to sit side-by-side and order drinks before being told by another host that one of us was required to move to make room for later arriving patrons. Our waiter witnessed what happened and immediately came over, apologized, and said that what had happened was not necessary. We confronted the manager with the fact that his staff did not seem to know the club’s policy and pointed out another nearby table that had been allowed to remain seated as we had been seated. This must be a common occurrence for the club, because the manager seemed to have a canned response, even talking over me as I tried to explain our perspective. While he sent us a round of drinks, he never apologized for the way the issue was handled. We expected a club bearing the name of a legendary blues guitarist and singer to be run in first-rate fashion, so I was very much looking forward to seeing a show in that type of intimate atmosphere. However, I would strongly recommend any music lover avoid a show at this venue and catch up with their favorite artist at another location.
My party had reserved band seat/VIP tickets in front of the stage but they sat people at the table who werent supposed to be there. I asked why they couldnt move to where they were supposed to be sitting and the workers just said sorry its too late (really?). There was plenty of time before the show started. So we got sat in a back corner where it was impossible to actually see the stage and the workers there made no attempt to fix the situation. The bar and menu are outrageously over priced even for NYC standards. I would never go back.
My wife and I went for lunch and the menu had very little to choose from. When we arrived we were seated immediately however, we sat there for 15 minutes and nobody came back, not even to ask us for water. The prices are very expensive for what is on the menu. They wanted $20 for a basic burger. My wife and I will more than likely never go there again.
There to see Richie Kotzen; the Times Square event was nothing short of amazing! The staff service was good, drinks & food were pricey, but it is Times Square, so was expected, and the concert was phenomenal.. Richie is an extremely talented musician! It was crowded, but we could still see everything and really enjoyed the sound and show!
We were in the small room, dowstairs left for the Decade of Soul show. Very disappointing. Quick show without emotion. More business than show in my opinion. Had to eat fast. Music ok but nothing personal and emotional. Too expensive for the poor performance and service. For better music, go to terra blues in Greenwich Village.
We went to BBs for a show by the BB King All Stars (and guests). The food was good and fresh, but felt the drinks were a little steep (could just be NYC pricing). The band were phenomenal - had great interaction with the crowd as well as being supreme players & singers.Would definitely recommend BBs and we will return there on our next visit to NYC.
This was a horrible choice as well as a fire hazard I SUGGEST YOU NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY AT BB KING words could not explain how disappointed both my Boyfriend and I were. We arrived at 9:00 had to wait in line until 10:15 before they open the doors for the 10:00 show to see the Whispers, once we entered around 10:15 the show had started yet their were others still waiting to come inside, the security guards treated us more like criminals than guess, I couldnt believe once we got inside the hostess wanted to seat us at the end of the table of six where we wouldnt be able to see the show as well as be crunched in with several other people no elbow room, so she suggested we go to the bar which had a better view, BUT they had no stools so we had to stand for the entire show, I was so discussed my Boyfriend couldnt take the look on my face he suggested we leave. People trying to party over there food as well as others, where we stood were very little space between the bar walk way and tables that everyone was rubbing up against us in passing. This was a waste of money I will never attend this place again and will suggest you not waste your time, believe the reviews they are all true its all about them taking your money this place is so ghetto I felt like being in a hell pit. Yes we did leave ten minuets after arriving....
Tourist trap with terrible management. I run bars and nightclubs for a living and I can tell you for a fact that the management here has no clue. Do yourself a favor and find a place that plays good music AND doesnt charge exhorbant prices for drinks that arent made correctly. There is no sense of hospitality or fun in this place. I promise you.
Always has great artist! Food n drinks r good! Drinks a bit pricey. Have to go early n stand on line in order to get table bc 1st come 1st served even tho u buy the tickets on line! But the up close intimate space w the artists is the best! N they dont bang u ina head w tickets! Just the drinks! Lol!
Been here a couple of times... if the concert is seated, its kinda ok (although food/drinks are a little over priced). Now if the concert is standing up... its a total chaos! At the bar, behind you, in front of you! If you go to the bathroom and look for your party... nah, just stay in the back (ok, im not that good with THESE kind of crowds)
Attended a pre-marathon dinner at this venue where they served a delicious pasta dinner buffet. (The short rib pasta was especially good.) Each seat had a clear unobstructed view of the stage making it easy to watch and listen to the presenters on stage. However, the venue does appear dated when you take a closer look at the decor and the seating area. You can easily spot black tape holding together worn out material. Also, its located in a particularly crowded section of Times Square which makes it difficult to travel to. Its better for attending special events or entertaining tourists.
Nice small venue. Not much room at table they sit you a tables with other people not much room to move around. Stage is viewable from all areas. $10 mandatory food purchase/person.
The venue is nice, I am thinking more about if its better to just have a drink at the bar. The price of the drinks are a little pricey. Its your typical crowd gathering in and out place, where you sit next to strangers wilhich os not bad. This is similar seating as going to House of Blues etc. Its been said the food is not great here, which I tend to agree. For a basement type venie, there was a cold draft coming theu, dont know if it was thru the vents or something else. The one good thing was our waitress Simone. She was patient and had a good aura to her. My 1st beer on tap came back on the warmer side, and she readily replaced it without any hesitation. She was just very pleasant to deal with. No attitude what so ever. The catfish bites were not bad. All the flavoring is in the batter, the actual fish did not have much seasoning. I noticed most people focused on appetizers and not main meals from the other tables. They should focus more on creating good food choices so people can order more. Especially with all the low price fast foods just outside their door. BBQ and burgers places abound on the same block. Those were all packed with people. 3 guys played music from Buena Vista Social Club and I admit they were great and entertaining! ! A definite plus for the venue. All in all. You can expect the same from BB kings as it is more designed for tourists than actual New Yorkers.
Worst meal Ive had in a while. Bake beans literally taste like stomach acid. Rubs were decent. Mac and cheese horrible. Not even the sprite was good. And the service was bad to. Just not a good experience at all.
You have to go and see Mary Bridget Davies and her incredible band! The house was packed and the audience was alive and well! Fun time had by all! We came in from Pittsburgh and Houston to see the show and it was worth it! Cant wait to see Mary and the guys again!
Way small space and over priced even for times square. For a guy with diabetes the menu is off the charts bad for you (honestly you can take that as a pro or con depending). Live band while we were there was one of the best Ive ever heard.
The nachos were really good! Good selection of whiskey. Decent ticket price. Bought at the door midweek and arrived less than an hour early. Good music.
I hated the venue. It’s a tourist trap and the staff and management are extremely rude. If you go make sure to never buy general admission tickets and do plan to go 2 hours in advance when the doors open if you want a good spot. The singer that I saw was amazing but I don’t think that I’ll ever return here and strongly not recommending this venue.
One of the worst concertarrangements Ive been to! Went to see Tower of power yesterday, and even with prepaid online tickets, all of us had to stand 40 minutes in a freezing line outside. The venue had ONE ticketperson (!) for a soldout concert. When we finally got in, we were seated and supposed to be served. Because of the neverending line (we were there over one hour before the show), we were not seated before 15 minutes before the show were supposed to start. We ordered one coffee, one beer and a banana split. It took almost 30 minutes until I got my beer, and that was only because I went to ask for it!We waited another 10 minutes for the coffee, until we had to ask again. Then we were told that they didnt have coffee there! The venue was cold and people were sitting in jackets inside. The band came on 30 minutes too late and the concert lasted way too short. Thats not the bands fault, they delivered top notch! When the concert was over, the lights came on way too fast and we were told to leave the venue as there was a new show coming up right after. All in all a lousy experience, bad service and it all seemed like just a moneymaking machine, shuffle people in and out in the fastest way imaginable.
Great music venue! Drink prices are really high ($10 for a beer and $6 for a bottle of water). Good vibes and the lighting is awesome! Enjoy :)
COSMIC RAY REALLY PUTS ON A SHOW.HIM AND HIS BAND BRING A GREAT ENERGY TO THE ROOM.I CANT AFFORD THE FOOD THERE BUT THE FOOD IS VERY GOOD AND WORTH THE PRICE.SERVICE IS GOOD BUT RELAXED.I LOVE THE STAFF!IT NEVER FEELS LIKE THEY ARE RUSHING YOU OUT TO MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEXT GUEST.YOU ARE A PRIORITY.KUDOS B.B. KINGS BLUES CLUB.
Im not so sure if I should even give BB King three stars this visit. We always make a visit and night out to this usually wonderful spot, but this time I believe it just might be our last. The service was top notch unprofessional and not just to us. We witness three sets of people come in and never got served. Im sure The King of Blues would been disappointed and hisdaughters would not tolerate what we witnessed. Its sad, because the music and crowd were amazing, the waiter that sat us down was a black young lady with long braids and glasses she was sweet as down south pie. The waiter that waited on us and those other set of people was Hispanic and she just does not have good customer service. I really hope for the sake of The King family this gets better. Until then its not a go to place our next visit.
The food was great! The drinks were okay. It can get crowded with little elbow room at the tables. Food and drinks were a little pricey. The staff was friendly and the show I saw was awesome! It was a night of Al Green and Otis Redding.
The place is nice. However when you purchase tix. They do not inform you that this place is first come first served. The tix have assigned seating but when we got her it was stated Oh ticket master put assigned seat row and numbers on the ticket My cousin was nice enough to purchase the tix back in September . I planned a trip to New York to visit, this was supposed to be a good night out. To see El Debarge..... The manger obtained two s chairs seated us next to the rest room. We left....
Attended Sunday brunch with my sisters. Harlem Gospel Choir was very entertaining. Food was good. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. This was their first time, my third time.
I go to a lot of shows and always love going to BB Kings. The food is excellent and i love the BB Kings Blues Brew. I have seen Burton Cummings, The Smithereens, Vanilla Fudge, Pete Rivera and several other shows here within the last year. The staff is very hospitable and does try to accommodate your wishes. I am looking forward to the next few shows coming up, Ted Nugent, Blood Sweat and Tears and we shall see who else.
Saw Sevyn Streeter there. She was excellent! The place had a great vibe. Nice place to visit just to go once and say you did since its a legendary spot. Venue was so dark though, I could barely see my menu. I had chicken and waffles. Waffles were delish. Chicken, not so much.
B.B. Kings will always have a special place in my heart. Ive seen a few shows there over the years from indie artist friends to big name all stars. I was lucky enough to cap it all off with a ticket to see George Clinton during its closing weekend, and had an absolute blast! So sad to see it go.
Management, bartenders and security are great!! Had a minor medical issue and all were there to make sure i was well and safe. Enjoyed the concert and had great food and service. Continue to be happy here!!
Came here on a solo trip from Arizona this past summer and was blown away by the outstanding service and accommodation from the manager, Bill. He took me under his wing and made sure i was enjoying my time. A genuinely kind person, proud of his team and their ability to create such a wonderful environment. The entertainment, A Decade Of Soul was rich and engulfing and makes it pretty difficult not to dance along, beautiful people. The chili was a great compliment and the bartender tended my needs promotly dispite a busy bar, much appreciated. i will stop here every time I’m in Manhattan. Come here to have a good time, surrender yourself to the groove. Thank B.B. Kings for making it a night to remember in Times Square!
Went there for a show Theater of Rock, and it was a great experience. The tables are set up so that there isnt a bad seat in the house. Food was great and reasonably priced for manhattan. Definitely recommend this place!
Nice place for entertainment but be careful using your credit card. Tip may be included in the bill so dont get ripped off. They will not tell you. Dont let your credit card disappear for more than 5 minutes... very suspicious
It will always be near and dear to me. I was an intern back in 2004 - working with marketing, sales, booking, and finance. The space is great. The musicians they bring in are great. And the food is delicious.
When I came to box office to buy tickets and get best seats, I was told there’s no reservation, I have to come in advance and take available seats. I came 30 min before doors opening, spent 1 hour in line. When I came inside there was 70-80% available seats, but I was told everything is reserved and got worst seats next to wall in 1st row behind the stage. So I came 3 hour before show and got worst seats....
Came to the BB King Blues Club for the Strawberry Fields Beatles cover band show.Doors open at 11 and seating is first come, first serve. They serve buffet style food for about an hour, and the show starts at 12 (but dont worry, you can still help yourself to seconds or thirds during the show). The food, which is southern style, really isnt that good. They do have a pretty large selection though (barbecue chicken, chicken wings, fried catfish, scrambled eggs (really gross because it looked rubbery and was filled with holes - literally looked like a sponge), bacon, sausage, french toast, mac and cheese, caesar salad, pasta salad, jambalaya, bagels, fruit salad, and some pastries. The best dish was probably the mac and cheese (hard to screw up), and the barbecue chicken (make sure you aim for the big pieces because the smaller pieces are dry). The venue itself seems kind of on the older side. There are only 5 (womens) bathrooms so they should probably do something about that.If youre coming to this club, chances are that youre not coming for the food and youre really just there for the show. The food, while not amazing, is still an added bonus.
Staff packed us in like sardines in a can food decent but expensive.sound system was bad and kept going in and out. Review tonight was a sold out show but they still allowed people coming in so it was so packed couldnt really see show. Server 3 times messed up tables order.
No seats available for Frankie Beverly and Maze.3/29/18. We waited 2 hours outside on line...to be told no seats..only reserved SEATS available. Then have waiters tell us they will try to find a seat for us.but it was over booked..This was a Surprise for my mom who is 76 years old...and. We didnt get to see the show...because of No Seats...Over crowded...and Unsafe..Standing Only Available....TERRIBLE...BUT THEY QUICK TO TAKE OUR MONEY...$300 DOWN THE DRAIN...SAD
Ive eaten here a very long time ago. Food is ok. Its really a tourist spot when it comes to the food. I mainly go here to see concerts. I love it because you experience an intimate vibe with the artist.
Guy outside told us that we can go down stairs for a drink, girl downstairs gave us a hard time because we didnt have tickets to a show that wasnt even starting yet. Bartender told us we can stay...paid $15 for a Captain & diet in a small rocks glass. Definitely over priced & girl at desk needs an attitude adjustment!
VEERRRYYY DISAPPOINTED😠😠😠. THERE WERE NOO SEATS AVAILABLE FOR MY FAMILY & I. ONLY THE 1st 100 got their seats. Everybody else had to stand b/c majority of the tables were $150 RESERVED. More than 500 came & there was NO ROOM. BB Kings is a small lounge venue. MSG would of appropriate for this band. I wasted $300+ 😔.I wonder if I can get compensation back. I brought tickets from tickmaster. I didnt kno I was paying to be stand up the whole night😒. We left.
Took my 12 year old son to see Al Di Meola - we had a wonderful time. Friendly people servicing us. Crowd was great. He had catfish bites - looked good. Cant wait to go back.
On the coldest night Sat Jan 6, 2018 with subfreezing temps, BB Kings not only didnt let us in early but were actually late in letting us in. We were freezing & they refused to let us in. I thought that was outrageous! It was below 0 & the people who work at BB Kings didnt care.In addition, I ordered a Vodka on the rocks with a splash of seltzer. I complained to the waiter that I didnt taste any vodka in the drink. He did nothing & when I got the bill, they actually charged $16 for that seltzer water. The service in general was not good.Just Us & Hermans Hermits were GREAT!
The show was phenomenal. The group of 8 interacted w/ the audience. Buffet was good. They need to upgrade the building by replacing the furniture carpet.
I went to BB Kings to see El Debarge perform on August 6th, 2016. It was my first time at BB Kings.BE AWARE THAT YOU MUST SPEND A $20 minimum if you want to order food. My friend and I decided to order The Pit Smoked Chicken Nachos. Man it was ATROCIOUS!!! My friend and I asked the waiter to put the BBQ sauce on the side of the plate. Instead, he put the BBQ sauce all over the nachos making it taste sooooo disgusting. Do yourself a favor and EAT BEFORE COMING TO A BB KING SHOW. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! Also the seating is very tight in this venue. You are told where to sit, you cant just sit anywhere. To make things worse, I was EXTEMELY DISAPPOINTED in the false advertising. BB King promoted that this concert was supposed to start at 7:30 pm. The doors opened at 6pm, people were seated between 6-7pm. But El DeBarge did not perform until 8:45 pm. So what happened between 7:00 - 8:45 pm??? An unknown female singer came on at 7:30 pm and sang for 45 minutes until 8:15pm. The crowd did not mind that she sung 5 songs, but she went on to sing an ADDITIONAL 3 MORE SONGS. You got to be kidding me. Mind you, by 8 pm the crowd was a little upset, antsy and annoyed. 8 songs by some unknown person is a bit much. Meanwhile, El DeBarge did not come on stage until around 8:40 pm or 8:45 pm. I was very upset because the unknown singer should have performed from 6:30 - 7:15 pm and El DeBarge should have started his performance at 7:30 pm as advertised.I enjoyed the performance by El DeBarge very much!! But the performance start time in addition to the disgusting food, I’ll give this place 3 stars. Ill probably come again for another performance to see if my opinions about this place have changed.
Waiting in line outside to see my business colleagues band Just us and Herman Hermits with my wife. We got there early at 5:30, supposed to be let in at 6 oclock did not get in till after 615. We were begging the woman on the door to let us in but to no avail. Temperature well below zero with the windchill. Dont forget everybody waiting for Hermans Hermits were 60+, were not all children and young people. I said to the woman inside she should be ashamed of yourself her reply as Tell Management!!We had a great time inside, Hermans hermits, Just us and the food were class ACTS!We will go back but only in warmer weather!
The performance of three stars are so enthralling , gorgeous! they played blue notes, jazz, folk songs, and country songs, which are so wonderful that all the audience applauded excitingly, dancing by their beat. whats more, the griiled steat and salad are so dicilious that my all friends loved them deeply. the service are extraordinary. the performance are unique, the guitar and singing are marvellous. we did love it from the bottome of our hearts. Thanks for the unforgetable night you present us. Lets go once more!
I met my son in the city for dinner. I always wanted to visit BB Kings restaurant. He wouldve been disappointed with the food. I ordered smothered pork chops with collards and mac/cheese. The pork chops were Luke warm with can gravy, the collards tasted like can collards and the mac/cheese tasted like kraft. Terrible service. The waitress brought us 1 slice of cornbread for 2 people. Who does that. Definitely wasnt worth the price. I wasted 2 hours of my time. I shouldve went to the BBQ joint next door.Sorry BB I wont be back. This place needs to hire a new chef or close its doors.Terrible!
This is where 80s bands seem to go to die. Have seen a few past-their-heyday bands here and the sound system is decent though not amazing. The Times Square location means youll be battling hordes of tourists, but it may be your last chance to see that band who was big back in the day before they disband for good.
Gross experience from start to finish. Supposed to be a fun, casual, kitchy evening. Instead: predictably bad food, the space itself is dirty and run down, even in bad light. Shrimp in grits were undercooked. Sure itself (rat pack) was more boring than bad but the highlight of the evening was the roach running right across our booth. Obviously understaffed with absurdly watered down drinks. Hard to say if theyve done anything right here.
I visited with friends for the Regina Belle show last week.My friend asked could she order the Mahi taco without avocado as she is highly allergic to it. When the dish was brought to her she was sceptical because she saw green on the food. She relayed her concern to our waitress who went to the kitchen and was told that the green was a basil pesto. We were then assured by the manager that there was no avocado. As a precaution my friend investigated before she ate and indeed found avocado and returned the dish. There could have been a death in the club that night. Im disgusted they are not more careful. It shows a lack of respect and care for a customers safety. I wont go again.
Until yesterday i have not gone to BB Kings for a party because their promoters are extremely unprofessional and are scheisty. They will promote their parties as being free before 12 and $20 all night after, but will not let any guys in til after 12 and then charge as much as $40 to get in. Why did I expect a year later things will be any different, smh. The venue is great, but i do not look when promoters are greedy and falsely advertise. This is no jab at BB Kings as a venue when they have concerts because i have been to a few concerts here in the past and have had a great experience.
One of the few funky music venues left in the city - we saw Louisiana Blues legend Tab Benoit and the place was jammed. Big problem are all the tables taking up room on what would normally be the dance floor. I mean do you really want to sit down through a P-Funk show? Its a nice break from having to shlep out to Brooklyn Bowl but theyve got to get rid of the tables when its not a sit down show.
Great food. Good prices. Great atmosphere. Would love to go back. If you like collards, they have the best (means a lot coming from a person from Georgia)
Been here over 10 times between the years of 2014-2016 . Food and service is good but its to overcrowded .. Even when you get their early you still have to wait online for an hour. Im going on the 16th of February for melanie Fiona only because my friend wants to go .
Gonna give it 5 stars for customer service! Just called up and a lovely woman helped me to make sure I could use the tickets I thought were for Friday but were actually for last Saturday! Holiday head made me think the show was after New Year not after Christimas! Doh! But she helped me quickly, politely and made me feel like Im not such a schmuck after all! Thank you BB Kings and give the lady who answered the phone today a bonus! :-)
Music is good but the annoying rude waitress with the glitter on her face during the luis enrique concert was especially rude. Trying to tell me how and where to sit and trying to dictate how my wife and i sit at a table. No sir she has to sit in front of you, really???!!! Getting your money is only concern. 11/22/2016 update, if you look at the comment below, I was asked to contact the manager which I did, but he never followed up. Basically just A tactic to make it appear like they are proactive in fixing things., which they are obviously not.
The food was not hot!!! They should have heated food sooner. Entertainment was good. Facility needs a good cleaning with new carpet. Put some money into the place.
Great service and surprisingly, the food was quite good. The sound in the room is always well controlled and sounds great. Ive been here many times and seen many many concerts!
Have seen the show three times, and going back this weekend, (March 2016). Yes, its cramped, but the guys are good, and sos the food! Get a Bloody Mary, or mimosa and enjoy!
FABULOUS.... The show, After 7... was AWESOME. The atmosphere, food & service were of quality. I will become a frequent customer. Returning for the Gospel event & for Mint Condition.
I visited the club on Friday April 18th for the Mint Condition concert. The concert was great but when I and the others at the table ordered the food we could not enjoy the food due to ROACHES crawling on our table, that was disgusting and when we all complained to the manager it was like nothing, they still wanted the bill paid, with empty apologies. I was appalled at the matter because where I come from (New Jersey) a restaurant would love the customer to return and if that would happen at a New Jersey restaurant they would write the bill off. Well I guess the BB King Blues Club does not care about the consumer and does not care if you return. I just hope plenty of people reads this so they would not purchase or eat at your restaurant. The treatment we received at our table was disgusting and very unprofessional. Hope you clean up your act.
Poor security, not friendly to the disabled or their needs. Very rude ticket collector on 5-24-17. Meals over priced vs quality. Needs to be more customer oriented.Needs new management.
WOW!! Great Time. Tina and I spend our birthdays in Nashville, and this year was no different. We met the members of the BB Kings Allstar Band on Friday night at another local blues club in Nashville and through idol chatter, they invited us to be their guest and watch the show the following night. I had admited to them we had actually decided not to go to BB Kings due to reading the reviews.Non the less we decided to go anyway and we had a great time. The staff, and service was great, the band was awsome, and during their break they came and had a seat at our table and spoke to us.We will go back and hopefully be their guest again. Thanks for a wonderful, great time.Paula R. and Tina H.
Advertised jaheim and remy ma...they were no shows at $45.00 a pop and no where to sit when 2 oclock rolled around! After standing in heels for an hr outside then another hr plus inside with no performance/performers and spending 17.00 for one simple vodka and cranberry extra watery...I left! Couldnt enter building because they were cleaning it up from the previous performance.Truly over rated! Utterly disappointed! Will never, ever go back! False advertisement! Scandalous! My travel mates stayed until 3 still not one person performed!
First of all I love b.b.king and I love blues, the thing is I pay $250 for each ticket but no seat for us. The manager said I have to stand with other people who pay $80 and refuse to help me find a seat. They even laugh at us when we left.
I recently ordered a gift card for a friend but messed up the order and did it three times. I called to see if I could get a credit for the two cards I purchased in error. Not only did I receive a credit for the two cards but the BB Kings rep offered to comp me on the next show of our choice. THIS IS THE BEST PART. A few months later I wrote the rep to see if the comp was still valid but had a party of six guests and asked her to do what ever she could and I would be thankful. We were comped for the entire party of six at the best table in the house. This may sound unbelievable BUT IT IS TRUE. Where else can you mess up, get it corrected, AND receive an unbelievable offer for screwing up? I will tell you where BB Kings in NYC
Great music venue! Fun atmosphere. But i wasnt a fan of the food when i went. But if youre there for a perform come early!
Always come here for certain R&B groups. Like Jon B, Joe, Anthony Hamilton, etc. BUT, if your into blues and old soul, then come on Tuesdays! OMG Harlem blues project, rocks! Tickets are cheap and reasonable. Just to chill out and relax. However, food to me is not all that, only if u hungry. I had better southern, bbq food. And yes food and drinks is pricey.
Very rude doorsman. I booked the show in advance and had to change my reservation for the real tickets at the will call counter. He yelled at me and refused to even listen to the question. Youll recognise him right away. Black chubby guy. Also, the tables are too tight and a bit uncomfortable for my taste.
Poor line of sight from several areas when looking at a performance. Especially if you are short. Also, the drinks are egregiously overpriced. A 10 ounce cup, filed with ice, and a bit of room for your beverage is $16. They should move from that location, as I suspect that is the driver for the overpriced food and beverage items.
Been here on multiple occasions. Decent concert venue. Food is less than appetizing though so you should grab a bite prior to your event.
A bit for the tourists, minimum drink rules exist (1 drink min) which is always annoying when youre a non-drinker. Food is just ok but the venue allows for an awesome acoustic experience.
Admittedly, Fred Hammonds intimate concert enhanced experience. The cuisine was splendiferous. However, table spacing was extremely confining taking away from the event, if not for Fred Hammonds Holy Ghost inspired performance.
Went to see Ted Nugent at B B King me my niece and two friends thank god we at at the Blarny Rock 8 blocks away 3 of us at and really drank from 330 till almost 6 no problem .me and my fiend split the bill 80 each with tip my niece is 17 so she didnt pay . Our other friend called us said hes out of work and just got to BB Kings we all had to be there for a table two orders of wings and a salad plus drinks 120 by three guys . Great place to see a show horrible place to eat and drink even a little . Next time no table aint worth it
One of the best places in NYC to go see and hear musicians play. Main room upstairs is casual and classy. Lucilles downstairs is cool and fun. Been going there for years.
Abominable, never seen such a shame, expensive bad food and beers, worst waitress ever... good musicien but they took a break during almost the whole time we where there. They even tried to steal us by adding 15 dollars to the check... incredible.
Ive been going to BB Kings for the last 10 years. Ive always enjoyed watching my favorite R&B and Hip-Hop acts here. I went to see DIPSET on 02/24/15. The show was ok. My problem was with the security. I payed $94 for two tickets just to be treated like an inmate at a prison. I was throughly searched, frisked, told to remove my hat, even had the inside of my wallet searched (I guess he thought I had a blunt in there). The security is very unprofessional. I didnt expect much from them since they most likely make minimum wage and no brain power is needed for that job. This venue is downright GHETTO. AVOID THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!! Im sorry to say but I WILL NEVER RETURN to BB Kings. Go somewhere else to watch your favorite artists.
A wonderful place for date night. Great ambiance, cosy and the live band was fantastic. The menu $$+ if you have 🍷 the food was delicious.
I have seen at B.B.Kings open his place B.B.was 75. I have seen a lot of great acts. Ace Frehley, Uriah Heep Armored Saint Saxon ,U.F.O and Saxon was my last show so far on March 30th 2017. Awesome place food great sound.
Such an amazing place. Its located just next to Times Square and the vibe is really unique. The staff is friendly and helpful, and I had a great time seeing Eric Johnson live there.
Amazing place cant believe its gone definitely earned its legendary imprint on 42nd street drinks amazing food music and people saw so many celebrities there and shared many memorable moments there. B B KING himself is proud of what that place became in history
Kieko Matsui a treasure ,20 cds all are relaxing ,sensational. The BB KING venview is fantastic .Good food ,great service .We felt like we were on stage .I strongly recommend you see your favorites perform here in the near future.
I will be in town on May 22, 2016. I was planning on bringing my 26 year old daughter to have a wonderful experience. After reading so many of the horrible reviews its been pushed further and further down my list. One thing I believe is . . . warning always comes before destruction
Cool place for a concert. I dont like the fact that you MUST spend $10 per person and the seating is very tight and uncomfortable for me at over 6ft.
Not the best venue to see a band/musician but not the worst. If you are in Time Square consider dropping by - its still fun.Drinks aint cheap either but thats to be expected.
Cool venue but the tables are kinda tight together near the stage and the Beatles Brunch was terrible. Way overpriced for out of tune musicians and chaffing trays of breakfast food.
This place is run down and management/employees do not care. If it wasnt for the band we went to see I would not have gone. They have a huge bar with only 2 bartenders that must get paid a shift pay because they had no sense of urgency to serve drinks to the 50 or so people that wanted a drink.
Great club, especially for the BOMBA Party. Coat check is not reliable though, they lost my coat after they told me to come the next day to pick it up when I lost my ticket. Be aware of that.
Get there early for a good seat. Food is VERY expensive. Drinks are OK. A good place to see a show. Beats City Winery in all respects!
The John Lennon tribute must have had John Lennon rolling over in his grave. The singer was horrible! chewed gum with an open mouth the entire act (and played harmonica with it too!). Couldnt sing at all!! we left at the intermission - although I wanted to leave after the first song!!! HORRENDOUS!We have been here before - for the Billy Joel event - and it was awesome…so I was totally disappointed by this John Lennon disaster.
Went there for Reggae fest. It was nice inside but they shouldve had some type of heater at the entrance and in the coat check area.
Great concert venue, weird acoustic space. You probably wont notice, but if somehow the speakers/ pa could be improved I think the experiance will improve.
Ive been here a few times, I saw Chuck Berry and Busta Rhymes.. Memorable moments best intimate feeling when artists are playing. TRULY ONE OF THE BEST VENUES!
Juke joint downstairs with bar snacks. I enjoyed the cat fish nuggets. Twice. Dont pay for the vip tickets cause its a ruo. Rippin u off. Just go and find a seat or stand up.
The customer service and the wait for the food sucked!!!!!!! The worst customer service ever 3/5/2016 8:00 pm...They charged 5.00 cover the band was awesome.I will never go back it took 30 minutes to get in and 45-60 minutes for my food..........I front desk lady was very very rude she had a short hair. The employee with a green suite dressed like a leprechaun was pleasant....To top it off just received my food which was cold and waitress was MAD...I said my food was cold....rude rude rude........keiandra smith serviced us....
We went for a jazz Sunday and we had a blast, super nice people, amazing brunch deal only 20$ for salad and entry. The wafles are tasty and the omelette also
We have amazing time. Great music and fab service. Food was great too. Try revisit this year but this lovely place is closed down...very sad
I went to see a comedic legend and who was unfit to perform. Knowing that his health declined severely in his old age and it was wrong for this establishment to sell tickets to folks expecting a shoe. I felt robbed.
The NEW AMSTERDAM MUSICAL ASSOCIATION had a wonderful time last at BBKingsYour hostess Skyy (hope this is the correct spelling of her name) was amazing. We had a group of 20 people + and she and our witness made us feel right at home...
One of the great place in NYC to watch live bands. Good atmosphere and the drinks are pretty good too, love the mashed potatoes, chicken and waffles.
Nice venue, bad food, good service. I went for a sold out concert but I imagine its a lot better for jazz concerts with less people and you can see the artists better.
After waiting in line, suddenly the girls are split from the guys into a separate line. Once the girls got inside, we had to pay $30 each (pretty girls mind you!). Then when our guys finally reached the front of their line, a half hour later, they wouldnt let them in! What a rip-off, conniving & deceitful way of splitting up the group to make $$$. You need to understand two things about me as a pretty NYer:1. I dont wait in line2. I get paid to party, not the other way around
Always fun to see shows here! But this time I got to see some live boxing and it was such a fantastic night! Sundays brunch is also a great time
Great music , great vibe. Love the concert of Soledad Pastautteri. Will be back pretty soon for anothe wonderfull concert. Need to upgrade on the drinks a little
On 11/10/16, I was very excited to see the much anticipated Loose Ends, Loose Ends was steady rotation in my car system, house stereo, Walkman and any other music device i own. So, you get the point how excited I was to learn Loose Ends performing at BB Kings. (Extremely)From the opening song Stay a while, i immediately became disappointed and cheated with the concert. There were only one original member of the group presence and several new members forcing them to appear as a rap group. The original vocalist of the group, Jane Eugene was the anchor saving the band and the band was killing me with their fake dougie fresh routines. This is NYC the home of Hip Hop, we know where to find authentic hip hop.Pls BB kings, i enjoyed the food and the friendly crowd but lets keep the acts authentic like the the spirt of the late BB KINGS.
Food was very good but I was not impressed with the facility. It was very dark and needed updating. Luckily that was the last day at that location and they will be moving to a new location. Hopefully the new location is brighter.
Enjoyed the DMX concert me and my wife. It was really nice and musical. Only thing the drinks is $20 a shot including the tip.
Went to see Michael Franks. Hell of a show. An order of chicken wings, a Ceasar Salad, a beer and a ginger ale was $60.00. Bring your credit card.
