Beware!!!I don’t do anything without reading reviews first but for the first time ever I blindly booked a service without checking out other peoples experience. If you read this and still decide to go to this place, please know this (and the other info below): Make sure you pay the exact amount you want to pay + tip as they would hold on to your change if they feel the tip is insufficient. Find another massage spot if you must. My experience: After a long run I was feeling it and decided to get the 60-min deep tissue massage. A friend found this spot online and sent it to me because of the proximity to my location. The place was very basic, almost dingy. The massage was ok and at the maybe 50min mark I was told it was over (Lesson 1: time your session yourself). The massage cost $50 they don’t accept credit card only cash (Lesson 2: ask about this as it is not written anywhere) so I had to use an ATM across the street. To do this they insisted on holding on to my phone or purse and wouldn’t let me go and get cash until this happened. I eventually left my phone and withdrew the money. Gave the guy who did the massage $60 which he held on to and bluntly refused to hand me my change (Lesson 3: pay the exact amount and tip deserving of service to avoid this) I had intended to tip him but was surprised by his demand and refusal to give me my change. I walked out without a word but a promise never to return.
Great massages and great prices in Harlem. I definitely dont mind giving them my business. It is a small shop right off the street. As people walk in and out , not everyone is considerate. All in all love this as my no frill, great service spot.
Great experience. Steven was very good and made my aching feet happy again. Spent 60 mins (with a timer set by him) asked about pressure levels and more.It is a clean and good place. Not fancy, no candles and special ambience. Just a massage table with clean towels and experienced people and simple music. Worth the $50 plus $10 tip.
I had the best most thorough massage I have ever had. The prices are great. My back felt so much better after leaving. I will definitely be back …
Amazing amazing amazing! 1 hour deep tissue massage with oil and tony knew exactly what to do! I have had massages all over the world and I can highly recommend this place . It’s like a hidden jam considering the high quality and very fair price .
Went for a 30 minute massage and it was the best! They do a lovely job, and arent afraid to go for the knots! I told them the exact location that hurt, and my massage therapist knew completely what to do.
Awesome. High quality massage, no frills, no fuss. Easy online appointment, made same-day. Quiet and skilled massage therapist. This is not a fancy *spa* experience, which suited me perfectly - Im here for the musclework (which was great), not the ambience.
Simple, Straightforward and worth every penny!Booked online which was a nice feature, showed up and got the 90 minute massage with Nina. She was attentive and worked on my problem areas (shoulders, neck and sciatica). I think she would have been able to figure it out with all the nots if I didnt say anything. The price is fair but if you get a good massage please tip well! Nina worked her hands on me and it takes skill. So because prices are competitive doesnt mean you should be tipping any less. Lets all take care of each other when you are provided outstanding service.Thank you, Allen and Nina.
As much as I dislike leaving negative reviews, my experience at Cay Spa was dreadful in every way imaginable. I needed a place that took walk-ins on a Friday afternoon and went there despite reading some negative reviews. I should have listened to my fellow Googlers, because the experience ruined my night (and left me sore for a few days). This is supposed to be a place to relax, but by and large, I’ve never felt so uncomfortable - not even in a dentist’s chair! Here’s my experience:1) They won’t tell you their services/prices. They have a small sheet of paper at the register listing durations and prices, but you have no idea what kind of massage you’re in for! When I asked, she said I can get anything I want then rushed me into the massage isle where we couldn’t speak anymore. She out then produced her beeper timer and gestures to me so I can tell her how long I’d like to be massaged (tortured) for, and that was that!2) Throughout the 90 minutes, she was constantly coughing and sniffling. I understand if you’re sick and I really hope you feel better soon, but maybe take the day off? Or blow your nose and take a lozenge?3) My massage consisted of:- 70% the most obnoxious and painful poking motions performed in quick strokes - she literally used her thumbs and pushed her entire body weight into it. I asked her to adjust the intensity several times but she’d slow down for a few minutes and then continue poking. I know the pressure-point stuff, what she was doing was NOT that.- 15% actual massaging (generous estimate) - stuff that you’d expect when you go for a massage. It’s obviously more physically tiring for her to do an actual massage, compared to poking and pushing.- 10% awkward pinching that made no sense and served no purpose except to highlight my agony.- 5% fussing around probably checking the timer.4) At one point, when I was laying on my back, she climbed over me and placed both palms right on my stomach/ lower abdomen and pressed with her entire body weight on me! I gasped and sat up in pain! Her reaction: giggles and carries on.5) When she got the 3 hot stones, she asked me about the temperature AFTER she had started rubbing them on my back. Luckily, I have a high tolerance for heat. Had it been someone else, I’m pretty sure they would have screamed in pain and probably even sued. They were blistering hot! Also, I’m no massage therapist but I don’t think a hot-stone massage means aggressively and simultaneously rubbing 3 stones on my sore back (post-poking and pinching) in rushed motions that they clank loudly against each other! Who trained this lady? How is she licensed? Actually, is she even licensed?!6) In her fussing around, she accidentally dragged the curtain open a few times. Now I’m comfortable with my naked body, but I’d rather not be seen trying to balance the now-cold-stones still sitting on my back while being poked and pushed by the masseuse. She also drew the curtain wide open while I was still getting dressed.7) To seal the deal and make me vow to never set foot there again, the cashier told me they don’t accept credit cards. This was not displayed anywhere and I was not told about that when I called them or when I arrived there. I told her that I would run to the ATM at the bodega right across the street, and I offered to leave my credit card with her for insurance. For the next 10 minutes, she ran to and from a side room trying to decide whether to let me go or not. The bodega is literally across the street some 30 feet away and fully visible from where she is, and she has my credit card in her hand, but for some reason that isn’t insurance enough. I was completely dumbfounded. What did they expect me to leave for security? A kidney? My unborn child? How was I supposed to pay? Eventually, I stated that I was going to get the money and just walked out, returned and paid, and I still left a very generous tip that was completely undeserved.Never going back to this place, and I strongly advising against it. Just book a Zeel or Soothe and spoil thyself.
I had a good experience with them one time. I went to go get a massage again from them today and it appears that they are closed down. It says owner wants to lease location.
Walked in and they took me right away. I did the $50 special with the hot stones. Got rid of all my kinks and knots that had been killing my shoulders and back for the last week. Just what I needed. I’ll definitely be back.
No frills place but had the best 2hr massage for $100. Had Steven and he found all my knots. I’ll definitely be back!
Absolutely cant say enough about this place. Amazing Massages, great prices. My favorite place to go for a massage
My girl and I got a couples massage and our session kept getting interrupted numerous of times by calls and the front door..we paid $160 and gave a $20 tip and the gentleman said he needs more of a tip..I said for the 90 minutes you mad appointments and answered the door and still want a tip..that wasnt very professional.
They get the job done. It’s nothing fancy. Nothing really spa like about it but the massages never disappoint.
Definitely worth the price. Not too much privacy with curtains between the tables, but all of your knots will be beat into submission.
This place is fantastic. If you are seeking a deep tissue massage say no more.
I have been getting massages on a regular basis for 15 years. This place is horrid. Stay away
I had the Swedish massage done this evening, that was awesome. I feel great!! Will go back again😀
