Excellent atmosphere. The food, the drinks and the live music were all on point. I took my friend for a late birthday dinner. She enjoyed herself immensely. I had the full house salad with steak and passion fruit frozen margarita and she had the steak fajitas with a strawberry mojito. To top it off we ate delicious churros as her birthday treat. All delicious!
Gonzalez y Gonzalez is fuegoooo! This is the spot to be on a Saturday night! The food is bomb, the music is fire, the people are great dancers, even the security guards are dope! (Shoutout to Steven, he needs a raise!!) Parking is calm as well, there are a bunch of young folks that pull up too so everyone is lively and having a blast. I suggest getting here by 9:30 the latest so you can get yourself a good meal and not have to pay the door fee for the club. Let me tell you, youd definetly want to stay for the live music and DJ because they are awesome and now how to get the place jumping!
The amount of times my friends and I have been here is ridiculous. We love it and consistently return whenever we want great drinks and food.🍹 Those happy hour drinks are bomb! They’re the main reason we keep returning. Food’s good too but the drinks are the main attraction for us.🪇 The vibe is always great with the music, especially on a Friday.🛎️ Servers are always great! They know us by face at this point. We enjoy getting the sombrero whenever we celebrate a birthday there. The bathroom’s all the way downstairs but it’s clean, and there are little trinkets being sold outside - gum, mints, lotion, etc.📸 There’s a new service - photographers taking photos of your group. Photos are framed and cost $20/each.It gets packed, so either get there early or make a reservation. I think you’re allowed 90-120 mins at your table. Highly recommend!
5 stars across the board! I celebrated my birthday last night at Gonzalez y Gonzalez and it was such great vibes. The food was delicious. The drinks were great. Every staff member took such great care of me and my birthday crew. The best part of the night was dancing to such an amazing selection of music. I cant wait to come back again!
Stopped by on a Saturday evening without a reservation. Just wanted to sit and have a few drinks. They could have easily sent us on our way. Instead, they said we can accommodate your party for about an hour. We were so grateful. They were absolutely fantastic and so attentive to us. They made us feel welcome and wanted to make sure we had a good time while we were there. The staff is the star of this place, but the drinks and food are not far behind. We look forward to going back soon. A big thank you to being so gracious to us!
Food was great! I had calamari and shrimp and potatoes. My friends had the enchiladas and burrito. Also the sangria was great. But we made a reservation via google and when we got there we were told they don’t take reservations via google so we were super confused and the guy at the host spot was a little rude about it
I absolutely love this place! As someone who’s passionate about salsa, bachata, and merengue, I can say this is the best spot in NYC for a night of dancing. I’ve been coming every weekend, and it’s always a blast. The DJ is on point, playing all the right tracks to keep the energy up. The staff is super friendly, and the security guys do a fantastic job making everyone feel safe. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to enjoy some great Latin music and dance!
One of my friends was rejected at the entrance just because he was wearing a casual shirt sleeveless which I found completely unfair and non inclusive. The guy at the entrance claimed that women can dress however they want it but men can’t. Besides, there is not published any dress code. It is so regrettable that latino people are being rejected at a Latino place, especially in a city like NYC. 👎🏽
First of all there was no cover at the door; they check your ID and in you go. The atmosphere is one for you to dance as they have a dance floor and a big bar with a lot of seats; so you could either dance salsa 💃 or grab a beer and watch other dance. You should do the first. Oh, later that night around 10pm they had live music isn’t that awesome. You could go out with a date and $50 dollar and enjoy the night dancing. I will definitely come back.
Security be wild ego vibes. told meI could not coming in with a hoody and I compromised only to be told to separate my items for coat checkas always places with strict clothes policy just playing people for there 3 dollar coat check which sweater and jack need to be separated so 6 dollars for this man to have him and his Boiinsweaters and jacket.Cover charge 20 for what sure dj did his thing but drinks watered down dime y tuWelcome to 2024 savages70% boysPs arrived with 2 women so hard recommendation is to show up before 10 pm to avoid all extra feesis the true vibe. Again dj was onPoint.
My husband and I had our first date there over 25 years ago. The atmosphere was definitely not the same, but the food was excellent. My steak was cooked to perfection. The drinks were excellent.
Overall, mid. If you want to dance, go somewhere better suited for dancing. If you want latin vibes, theres dozens of other places. Save yourself the hearing damage and cash and go elsewhere.Pros: Fun dancing, live band was good. Didnt mind the $20 cover for the live band.Cons:- Cover is $20 and to check an item is $3, mandatory coat and item check. Cash only for this.- Music is WAY TOO LOUD. Listen, Im a fit dude who is used to party atmospheres. This place had the speakers so loud my group had to leave early; it was painful to be there. Very difficult to dance and have fun when you have to keep messing with your ears because theyre in pain. One week later and my ears are still ringing. If you go, bring light earplugs or stay near the back.- Bathroom is far away and down stairs. Really takes you out of the atmosphere (but a break from the sound was nice)- Water is not free. Bottle water only for $3. Pretty obnoxious considering how they encourage dancing and we paid a cover.- Band comes on late
The food was good. The drinks were terrible. The service was good. The live salsa band was amazing but the DJ was not good. People clearly come to dance salsa, merengue, bachata, not reggaeton and any good DJ would notice that when more ppl start to dance when salsa plays versus reggaeton.
I visited with a friend last week for the first time and we had a blast. I tried to go back in 2018 when I visited and we couldn’t get in (despite the pouring rain), because the line wrapped the block. This time we came for dinner and stayed to party (tip for getting in lol). The food was delicious and the drinks were even better. There was a live performance and the band jumped in the crowd and partied with us. The music and food are great, you just have to get in the door to experience it 😂😂😂 Get there early so you don’t wait in line all night! You will enjoy it!
This experience was excellent! This restaurant certainly lives up to its delicious food and outstanding entertainment. Professional staff, incredible drinks, great cheers, amazing Chimichangas - what else can you ask for? The atmosphere is mind-blowing. We ordered the Enchiladas Suizas, which was amazing! It was served with a green tomatillo cream sauce, served with rice & beans. This was so good; you have to get it. We then ordered Chimichanga that comes with this flavorful beans and sauce. For sides, we did Tostones that comes with this savory garlic sauce. , which was just super good and creamy. What a night! The wait staff was super attentive. I cant say enough about this place it was just so good and enjoyable! We indeed found good food, friends, and a great cheer. I cannot wait to return. . This kitchen has character and its reflected in the menu with classics and unique creations. Not to forget - Try the mango smoothie with some added coconut juice. All Thanks to a dear and beloved brother, Joey!
We went for Mother’s Day and the appetizers were good but the food wasn’t. For the price you would expect a lot better. Disappointing is needless to say. On top of that paying gratuity they don’t give you a choice and they don’t tell you. I’m not cheap but the service was ok but not worth what they chose. I will not go back or recommend to others. I don’t care to spend the money if the food was amazing but it definitely lacked.
The place shrunk since my wife and I had our first date. I was disappointed with the atmosphere. The food was delicious, tho. Overall, my wife and I expected more, but the visit was sufficient enough.
I really like my diner here. God was good and I was not expensive for a restaurant. I also liked the piña colada. My main issue is that this place is more for clubbing and partying than dining. Food was ok but there was just so many people and music that you can. Barely talk. I would rather just eat before dancing and drink which should be main event. Good for goin with friends, but not for dinner date , neither family.
Everything is great about the place, great service/hostess/atmosphere a plus. The drinks are delicious and the food, if ur eating there is great. But dont order food to go, if you do, you get so small the amount of food paying the full price. Ordered 2 shrimp entrees, had little scoop of rice to eat with the dish, which wasnt plentiful but delicious 😋
If I could leave zero starts I would. Basically came to dance salsa on Sunday . Around 9 pm . First of all the place was empty and there’s a charge. Ok. The security guy WAS EXTREMELY RUDE pointed out on my empty cup meaning that I can’t walk in with this , ok I threw it out . Then he said I have to take my jeans jacket off if I want to walk in . I said I’m cold right now (only had a little back dress on with no pockets) and I won’t , so he said you can’t walk in if you aren’t taking your jacket off. I felt harassed!!!So we went to Verlaine instead and had so much fun ! They also have live band and play salsa. Also I haven’t seen any drunk person comparing to Ggs which is full of drunk kids who don’t know how to dance.Never coming back .
It was good, I went with my boyfriend to dance and the atmosphere was pleasant.. maybe they should have a better filter in terms of the people who are already drunk and are still inside since they can make others uncomfortable but omitting that I could recommend it.
Went with my friends on Friday to celebrate my birthday and my other friend’s birthday. Was excited to go because I’ve always heard about how fun it is. Well that’s until you meet the rude overly aggressive security guards demanding that you check your coat in. I mean flashing lights in my face and in my sister in law’s face talking about how it’s mandatory to check your coat in. We go downstairs to this ridiculous line. Then they tell us if we are there we can coat check for free. I mean it’s $3 but who carries cash these days? The coat check guy was also giving a hard time. We are now told the receipt has to be stamped. Nobody would stamp the stupid receipt and when the security guard saw us upstairs with our coats now two came to corner us. I mean as if we had weapons on us. I was like what the heck?! The DJ músic at that point was lame. I was frustrated. My friends paid over $500 in meals and drinks. Camera guy goes around taking pictures of you and that’s $20 per picture in frame. Food was good. White sangria sucked. Mango mojito was great. Oh and another thing. We called to ask about reservations, they say walk in is fine. We get there and they give us a hard time. Then one of the waiters comes to tell us that the manager said since we didn’t have a reservation we had to give up the tables at 8:30. It was 7 and we had not even ordered. I got upset and told the guy, it’s my birthday! I just want to celebrate my freakin birthday! Then he said manager said ok to keep tables until 9. Guess what? We didn’t leave tables until 10:15 when security guards started coming at us about the mandatory coat checks. So I went, I saw, got the experience, I’m done. There was one female waitress I loved plus the food was good. That’s what the two stars are for. But the security guards killed my experience… over coats! 🤬
I attended a dance social event . Cover came out to $12 . The crowd was older but all friendly and encouraging to learn.Attended the dance lesson , very relaxing and welcoming. If you want to learn a couple steps definitely recommend.Coat check was 3 bucks .Drinks are reasonably priced .Only thing bathrooms are in basement all the way in the back which is kinda of a mini runaway before heading back to the dance floor.Definitely will be back for another event
The atmosphere is great and there were clearly people there to dance salsa when I went. The songs were very fast so I def think that more experienced dancers would enjoy it more. There was also a mandatory coat check with cash 3 dollars per item
This place is ridiculous- I’m in town visiting and was excited to go to a Latin spot. They have a $20 cover, I tried three cash points nearby so defeated went to use the one they have internally. I go in with my friend who has cash for 1 and say I’ll go cash machine they say wait aside I wait 5 mins then come up the guy snatched my phone from my hand. My reaction is to snatch it back, he doesn’t speak English but I speak Spanish (not that he tried) - I was so confused by it all. Apparently you must leave you $1,000 phone as deposit to go cash machine for $20. Pardon?! My friend was there waiting for me so obviously I’d have to come back for him and also I’m there to spend money, not run away in a small venue with about 100 security. Very bizarre policy. You need a sign in English that explains this rather that a giant security guard snatching a young woman’s phone from her hand without explaining. Needless to say I left and will NOT be back.
Had a great time. Food was good but service was really nice. We went on salsa night and they had an MC and got the entire restaurant involved with salsa lessons. Was a ball.
I went only for the party! We enter at 11:30 because they were changing the tables. The live music was amazing! The band was really good. The crowd were decent.
Attended the bar in the evening for drinks, we got stamped to return later in the night for their live music. Which we did but upon return, the security guard was very rude and racist towards one of the guys in my group. To the point the security got violent. Would not recommend attending.
Food is amazing and the service is great , however, if you don’t pay attention to your bill you get overcharged , during happy hour I got charged regular price for a margarita and discounted for the rest . ( it’s just $9 overcharged ) I would’ve given it in tips either way . But the idea is be honest . Now you lost a customer .
Absolutely fresh, delicious food served in generous portions. Guacamole prepared table side.Vegetarian and vegan options.
The drinks here were good. They had a live band that was totally amazing. They played more Spanish music than anything else. They do have a place where u keep ur coat which was 3$. I wish they had a bigger space but overall it was great. I had a fantastic time
Great food, great drinks, they even clear out the stage for live music or dancing sometimes.
Music is amazing! I recommend you arrive by 8:30 if you want dinner and to enjoy the live band / DJ That arrives roughly at 11/12 so if you arrive at 8:30 you don’t need to pay the cover charge because your eating there already!! The steak is great and margaritas are good this place is great for party and big groups
The best part though is the atmosphere, space and live music. It is a good place to dance. Bar service is fine, but with so many people behind the bar the service could be better. Expensive bottles of water, they dont offer tap water at all.
Good food. I tried some chips with guacamole and some empanadas. I also gad 2 different cocktails, Pura Vida and a Margarita. I had two Pura Vidas and it seemed that they have no alcohol which was a disappointment. The place was very good and I enjoyed the fact that they remove the tables and have live music after 11 pm. That was a nice surprise.
Everything at G&G is amazing!! From the food to the music to the drinks and of course, the SERVICE! Service is what makes or breaks a business. At G&G you can count on being treated with GREAT SERVICE. Special thanks to SKY, CARLOS and every one else who assisted with making my bday special on Friday 03/25/1992. Sad I left my roses at coat check but glad I had the most amazing 30th bday. I could not have spent it at a better location. Thank you G&G!!! See you soon 🥰
This is a good Latin restaurant/club/bar in Soho with some decent space for dancing and a live band that plays on Friday nights. Music wise, as a Latino, could be better, too much of the same genre gets bored.... It gets quite busy closer to midnight so be prepared to wait outside. Theres usually a cover and they dont let you open a tab, although they accept credit cards. Kitchen is open until 2am on weekends which is kind of unusual for NYC and perfect after having a few drinks. Will come back to try the restaurant.
Mehhhhh. Thats how Id describe Gonzalez y Gonzalez.Came in on a Saturday night for a friends birthday dinner. I ordered theFull House Salad (Iceberg, mesclun, romaine, tomatoes, red onions, red bell peppers, radish, queso fresco, fresh corn, lemon oil dressing, avocado slices) and added the skirt steak. At least thats what the menu told me I was adding. In reality, it was not skirt steak, but some other cut. Still, it wasnt bad but how great could a salad be?Service was a bit slow - they forgot about my friends steak tacos, which didnt come out until everyone was done eating and she had already filled up on appetizers and bites of other peoples entrees. At least they took it off the bill, I guess? They have happy hour until 8 on a Saturday, but the drink selections are limited and theyre not very good. I ordered some blue cocktail which was way too sweet. So I opted for a mojito next (not HH) but they brought out a margarita. We told them about the mix-up and when they finally did bring out the mojito, it was just pure sugar.I dont think I can speak on the food, since I only ate rabbit food that night, but there are definitely TONS of other Mexican spots in the city with better drinks/service.
I had read the bad reviews about this place but I decided to give it a chance anyway. Bad idea! We were a group of 12 people and spent in a good amount of food and drinks. Servers were very nice but the “security guy” doesn’t know the word decency. Once they removed all the tables and chairs to “free up space” for people to dance they literally force you to leave your jackets and bags at the closet downstairs where they charge you $3 per item (service that I don’t trust, they could easily steal, damage, lose your belongings) and when I asked the guy why, he just answered with a rude attitude that it’s the restaurant’s policy and asked us to leave. He didn’t say anything to the people who didn’t look Hispanic but focused on me and my female friend. This is just ridiculous and nonsensical. Def not coming back. You are losing business because of this stupid policy, I’m pretty sure.
The most amazing Mexican food I have had in the United States; super tasty and presented beautifully. The place oozes with love, joy and fun. One walks into another world, wall to wall hand painted with beautiful Latin themes and utterly tastefully decorated. The staff are extremely friendly and caring. You don’t want to miss the Enchiladas suizas. The churros were awesome.
Always good ! Second time being there and so good . Good was good, service is also good and music and party too! If you like Latino music this is a must
Unfortunately we had a bad experience today with one of your managers. We saw that a party of 6 or more had their coats on the side we didn’t think we had to pay the coat check. And we find it kinda messed up that we were enjoying ourselves and getting drinks at the bar and dancing to the salsa music while we were getting our drinks - and your manager on this day was so rude to us telling my party which was only two of us compared to the part of six next to us who had all their coats telling us we had to pay for coat check. I feel we were targeted and as not fair.for my first and last time I go to Gonzalez and Gonzalez… I don’t recommend if your goingto be singled out for a small group under 6 people even 4 people.
A NYC STAPLE. This place has been around since about 1980. I uploaded story’s here and my dad replied to them tell me how he used to pick up girls there HAHAHAHAHAAH. Now even though it’s old, it doesn’t feel that way. I only say this because the sound system is top of the line, loud with great base and the atmosphere is quiste nice. Brining you to a simpler latin culture with lots of LIVE MUSIC. And they run Salsa, bachata, merengue. And also reggeton music. There are older people here 50’s-60’s. But also lots of 20 year olds around so there is plenty of game to hunt. Drinks are 12-15 each and the bar is HUGE. It runs from one end of the place to the other. The only problem is that the bar has chairs, so people sit down and occupy the entire bar and it’s difficult to squeeze in between crowds of people to get a drink. Besides that, this is a solid place and I would recommend going there again. Bring a partner if you can, this way you can show off your dance moves 🕺💃🪩
I went here with some friends we ordered 3 blue lui, wings and shots, the blue lui instead of telling us the machine wasn’t working after we first got our water down drinks they decided to mix it with margarita so we drank 3 Blue margaritas which isn’t what we ordered, then we ordered 3 shots of patron , what they served us was fake patron how they have a liquor license is beyond me since they are selling fake liquor to people
Came to Gonzalez y Gonzalez for a quick bite. I ended up getting guacamole and chips, the guacamole could’ve been better... it was also very little amount. The chips were good. I also had a margarita which I cant complain about, it was nice and strong enough, not a watered down drink. This is a lively restaurant that turns into a full blown party at night, Super fun!
We have been to G&G many times and the crowd/ dancing/ music is a lot of fun. But they use all the possible tricks and traps to make you pay more. For example:- Only cash covers and they have an ATM with a high fee inside- Refuse to offer tap water or glasses, make you pay for water bottles- Mandatory paid coat check- If you have a sweater or even a button-up shirt inside your coat or stuffed in a shirt sleeve (or pocket!) they pull it out and make you pay for both. The bouncers and staff are also generally quite aggressive and rude. It’s too bad because we love the music but it’s hard to have fun when everywhere you turn they’re looking for sneaky ways to make you pay more.
I feel conflicted about this place. It has potential. I came in on a Thursday night. My gripes:1. Bartenders are overly aggressive on cleaning the bar top and took my unfinished drink. They blamed another customer. Really? Some stranger would drink someone elses drink? Thats gross! But hey its plausible.2. Camera people and security are mindless when walking by dancers. They literally care more about marketing than their customers experience. I dont know how to elaborate on the security: they just move around more than the average security.3. Its really another tourist trap: theyre selling pictures to people.
I had a great experience with some coworkers as we did a late friendsgiving and a early Christmas dinner. Everyone had a blast. We went as soon as it open(4pm saturday) so we took a chance since we didnt make reservations and we got a table. 2-3 hours later, we all drunk and having a good time and done right before midnight lmao. Everyone that work there was nice and respectful. Definitely going back soon.
All the employees were extremely rude. They are trying to get money from you. The food was very good, but the drinks were terrible.
Great place from when i lived in nyc back years ago late 80s-90s..Always had a good band on weekends, great drinks and food..always had a fun, with a colorful cool mexi-cali interior, some great memories. Glad knowing the place is still there
My favorite place to go dancing when I feel like Latin dancing. Dancing to live bands is the best! And this place is bigger and more beginner friendly than places like Bembe (which I also love for more intense Latin dancing).Free entry and dance classes at 9 were awesome with a fun teacher.Drinks after a certain time got really REALLY bad. One margherita tasted so bad and had a quarter shot in it.
Gonzalez y Gonzalez offers an exceptional dining experience that brilliantly captures the vibrant spirit of Mexican cuisine. The menu boasts a delectable array of dishes, each bursting with authentic flavors and thoughtfully crafted with fresh ingredients. The ambiance is both lively and welcoming, making it an ideal spot for a night out with friends or a special occasion. The staffs warmth and attentiveness add to the overall charm, ensuring that every visit is memorable. From the zesty salsas to the mouthwatering main courses, Gonzalez y Gonzalez consistently delivers a taste of Mexico that keeps patrons coming back for more. Happy hour is from 4 PM to 7 PM, margaritas and sangrias are only $5!
Gonzalez Y Gonzalez will pad the bill and try to force you to use coat check, and they will not give you a glass of water and lie and say tue kichen is closed so they cant offer a glass of water, even if you ordered food and a drink.I got there for Salsa on a Thursday at around 8:30pm.The security at the door told me I have to use coat check, however when I went to do that, there was no set up for coat check yet so I went onto the main area with my belongings. I ordered the chips with guacamole, which I heard was really good. When I received the order at the bar, its presented with all the raw ingredients so they maKe the guacamole fresh for you right there. no one came over to make the guacamole. Plus, when I looked at the check, which they gave me right away, I noticed they added $5 charge for 2 avocados. After 10 minutes, I finally flagged one of the waiters down after being ignored every time I tried to get their attention, and I asked if I was meant to make the guac by myself. The waiter then, with a bit of an attitude, asked me if Id prefer a man or woman to make it for me. Now, before he started, I asked about the bill and why was there a extra $5 for 2 avocados when I NEVER asked for extra avocados. He had no explanation. I ordered a seltzer drink as well. Now they fixed the bill finally and I got to eat finally after he made the guac. Now I spent $25 on chips guac and a drink, but when I asked for a glass of water, I was denied and was told Id have to BUY a bottle since the kichen was closed. The kichen is open till 12am and it wasnt even 10pm yet. This was the worst place Ive been in a long time. I WILL NEVER GO BACK. I was one of a few black people there so so I dont know of this was racism especially since the lady next to me at the bar had gotten 2 glasses of water around the same time I asked. I will tell everyone I know to never ever come here to spend their money. Liars, cheats, and rude. I gave the food a 1 star also because U didnt trust them. Yuk. Shameful place.
They need happy hour guac where they charge $10 for a half portion. They dont need to make the guac in front of me, they can pre-create to reduce labour costs. Did love that the chips werent too salty. Overall, decent Tex Mex spot.
Food was great but did not taste the alcohol in the drinks. I had the salmon which was cooked to perfection with mashed potato and a delicious sauce. Beautiful presentation! However, the drink not so much, I felt like I was drinking pineapple juice. Overall a must go-to spot for happy hour!
I use to go to the one on Broadway an Houston and I use to have great dinner’s there. Last night I went to the new one on Mercer and was looking for a great dinner again but this time it was a cover charge which I didn’t understand and I was told to take off my hat . The guy also told me if I was eating dinner I would have to eat it by the bar I was totally confused I guess great restaurants change after a couple of years omg still confused is it a bar club or restaurant?k I ask for my cover charge back and went somewhere else.
It’s good place with good food and music.
Best spot in town... Pre-Game before hand tho cuz the drinks are watered down lol.🗽🍎🌆🏙️🚇💃💃🔥💯
The worst place in New York. The security guards are totally unprepared and rude. They make you keep your jacket so they can charge you for it. When I said Id like to wear my coat, they told me rudely that I should leave. They need my money, not me theirs, so I can choose somewhere with better service. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. The food and drink is terrible too!
I love this place. Great live bands, I like to go at least once every year I make my trip to NYC. If ur into dancing spanish, Latino music, this is the place. Great salsa, Bacharach, and bad bunny!
The atmosphere was electric. They have an instructor that teaches you how to dance the salsa. The food is amazing, everyone is dancing. I ❤️ it!
First time coming in; I didnt have time to fully enjoy the atmosphere, but other than that, I had a good time. Came in around 11:45 $20 cover and $3 coat check PER ITEM. Its a maze to get to the bathrooms lmaoo but the line went pretty quick. Mojitos were good music was good. DJ starts at 1 A.M
Amazing place to celebrate special occasions with family or friends.
I can’t stand any place that has a cover charge Thursday night. Not only we thought before 1030 it would be free admission and when we asked the manager he motioned for the bouncer to come over in a threatening way instead of just answering the question
Probably the only place in Manhattan where people actually go to dance reggaeton and Latin rhythms, not just order bottles and take selfies.Live salsa on Saturdays is always fire. Mixed crowd but everyones having a good time. Long lines sometimes but always worth it.
Best place in NYC! They should hire me cause I keep bringing people in. They have delicious food and after 11pm it becomes a crossover bar, mainly salsa, so if you like live salsa this is the place! Don’t miss out this amazing place over the summer 👏🏽 You’re gonna have fun for sure 🤩
Great night for my anniversary con mi amor. Seafood, drinks, live music. We danced so much after drinks we ate everything so fast. Keep going, i wish you were in Queens for me and my girlfriends to party!!!
Good food; great drinks and friendly bar team (tip your bartender!! ). The dancing was amazing energy. Got crowded fast so may want to do bar/dinner and wait for dancing.
Went for 5 de Mayo, drinks were really good, didnt get a chance to try the food. Fun and lit vibes, great music. Staff even did competitions to interact with the crowd. It gets super packed, if youre looking for somewhere to actually dance Gonzalez y Gonzalez has you covered.
Great venue, very tasty food with amazing music! We had a group of 20 people over for a birthday dinner and we all had an amazing time! The lady hostess and waitress were very friendly, the food and drinks are super tasty and we also ordered the customized birthday cake which was beautiful, ordered by the manager Joey Dee, who took care of our group and addressed all our concerns in a very professional and understanding way.Would totally recommend it and hope to be back again sometime soon!
First time coming here for 12.30.22 and had so much fun! Great music and drinks. Only thing is that the music is extremely loud to the point my eardrum hurt for a couple days after being there. I wasn’t the only one but definitely coming back with the special headphones for the ears to prevent anything
This place has got it down. From food to drinks to service I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. My friends and I sat at the bar, received quick and friendly service and were checked up on frequently. Flavored margaritas and appetizers hit the spot and music was great. I already want to come back!! Thanks again
The margarita was not it for me. i bought a pitcher of margarita it tasted more like old lime and liquor. i only came here to drink but there were people there dining in so I cannot speak on the food. the aesthetic was nice, chill and loud all at the same time. it was a good vibe/balance just was not a fan off the drink
Great food, amazing vibe after 11 pm 🥳🎉🏃🏽♀️
Worst security people, not coming back to this place, is not worth it at all.
Was told there was a mandatory $3 per item coat check. It’s the middle of winter so of course everyone has a coat. I pointed out that people at the bar and sitting at the tables all had their jackets with them, so why was I being required to pay to check mine? Manager told me “I’m not going to argue with you”. I wasn’t asking for an argument, the least he could do is explain why everyone else didn’t have to pay but me. Laughably the owner is replying to these reviews about this claiming it’s to help “protect customers from getting their stuff stolen”. So why aren’t you enforcing it equally? Why isn’t your own manager unwilling or unaware enough to explain that? After paying my $3 scam fee to get in I ordered a few drinks. Handed the bartender my glass to ask for some water. Why did he put the glass away and come back with a plastic corner store bottle of Deer Park water and ask to charge me $3 for the privilege of having some water?Honestly, the constant nickel and diming I have experienced while being here has made that my last visit. Don’t get me wrong, the place was fun. But I realized the only reason that place is such a good time is the live band and the other patrons who show up to dance, all people who ARENT part of this business. I’m supposed to rate this BUSINESS and as a business it seems very manipulative, disorganized and full of finger pointing by staff and the owners. This is NYC, it’s expensive, if you need more money then charge a cover at the door for everyone and call it a day. But forcing some people to pay coat checks while letting others skip that policy, forcing people for glasses of water, etc just makes y’all look petty.
Great place!I just never eat there.
I loved the food, music, environment and of course the prices. Take in consideration that a lot of people go there to dance, so you should have a better ventilation/air conditioner. Me and my friends were sweating a lot. Thank you!
The staff here was so kind and accommodating! The vibe was fantastic and the music kept us dancing! Great drinks, I can wait to come back to.the city and visit again!
Every time I go here, I have a blast. The music is great and the people are fun and inviting. Ive been here for dancing and for dinner and I can highly recommend both. Its a great idea to come for a weekend dinner and stick around before the place gets packed. By 11:30 pm, theres a line down the block just to enter. Additionally, they often request a $10 cover to enter for dancing weekend nights. It gets very crowded, so sometimes actual dancing is sort of difficult, but it is always the right spot for a good time. Ive come countless times and will probably continue to come. I love the atmosphere and the live bands weekend nights!
What a fabulous place to visit .. we arrived and were greeted by the host . After ordering drinks and having a quiet chat with the the bartender, we realised we were talking with manager of the establishment... Joey was not only entertaining us with his stories of his travels to Australia but also was the absolute professional in hospitality... I could not recommend the staff and service and the food more highly...Thank you Joey and staff... cant wait to return
Tonight was amazing I went to this restaurant for my friends birthday and it was awesome!! Highly recommend this place for someone looking for a birthday destination in NY..come here its lit!! The waitress was amazing the service was great and the food never took long to come to the table.... if your looking for a good time. Food.music dancing come here! 😀 make sure to come on a day..like Thursday..where its free salsa lessons! Totally worth it!
Had the most delicious guacamole dish, they prepared it, right in front of you. Delicioso🥑🥑🥑.. Had a great live salsa band called Ray Delgado project💃🕺👍.. Great date night on a Sunday evening..
This place has an awesome latin party.Live salsa band, cheap margarita pitchers, excellent music. What else you need? Get there before 10, have a nice dinner, drinks, enjoy and then by 11 its party time!
Well! I usually dont write reviews and I would like to say that more than a review for the restaurant and bar, this is a perspective about the experience me and my friends (all women) had in this club last night. The atmosphere is general seemed pretty nice as a Latin American inspired place, the music is nice, the live band was amazing and I am very happy as a Colombian woman that New York has places like this one in terms of supporting Latinamerican culture. However, we felt really uncomfortable in the place, we were 6 women dancing in the floor and around us, for the whole night were guys staring at us, and watching us how we were dancing, but not in a nice way, just in absolutely creepy way, like vultures watching a prey.We moved around the place because clearly the situation made us feel scared, but at the end everywhere was the same, and I wonder what would have been if we were with some men in our group, that probably wouldnt have happened. So, to be honest I wouldnt like to go back, even if the music was very nice, just because I feel the whole situation was weird and uncomfortable, it seems unbelievable for me that being 2022 it is imposible to feel safe with my women friends at a Latin Bar.
I had been looking forward to coming here on my birthday for years. I made a reservation for dinner right before the live music began and even though we were promised two hours at our table, they began taking down our tables before the two hours was up and we were abruptly rushed downstairs to check our coats. Customer service was not very friendly. All in all it was kind of a frustrating experience, especially considering I’d carefully chosen this venue for my birthday celebration. Probably won’t come back. The music was fun but my mood was pretty ruined by the rude customer service from the bouncer at the front door to the coat check person.
The bouncers could be friendlier for sure. They also have a tendency to blast you frequently with very strong flashlights. Its really off-putting.I have been going here for years. They used to not have those flashlights and the bouncers were friendlier. Its a shame cos its ruining and souring the vibe, and making me question more and more if I should ever go again. A shame cos the bad energy that that taints the experience provided by the great musical performers.
Went here to celebrate my birthday with a small group and it was a really great time. Nice dimmed lighting ambience. The staff were incredible and attentive. The drinks and food were delicious. I loved everything about this place. Shout out to Roger for the amazing service and the bartender.
It was the finest Mexican dining experience our very foodie family ever enjoyed. Everything was superb - the food, wait staff and dining ambience. Our party of 10 shared dishes, and there wasnt anything that wasnt perfectly presented and didnt tingled our taste buds.
Very fun place, but the music and dancing does not start until 11:30 pm. The doorman said 11, but they kept pushing the time back. You are herded downstairs to do a coatcheck which is not required and the cover is $30.
Great food and live music!
Great place for live music, cuisine and drinks. Friendly staff.
I showed up for the Sunday night free bachata lessons with my boyfriend and we called in before hand to make sure we were going to be allowed in. We called because it was an hour commute and we are 20. The receptionist told us that it was fine and that we were going to be allowed in since we were only gonna be there to eat and dance and to have a fun time. We showed up and we weren’t even greeted. The security guard skips us and greets the other gentleman and then comes to us saying to take out our IDs out. He saw our IDs and just shouted at us saying “Absolutely not!” We didn’t get to talk or explain to him that we called in advance to make sure we were allowed in but instead were shouted and brushed off which is highly unprofessional.
Bouncers inside must think they are protecting the president… super aggressive and just turned what was a solid experience into an unpleasant one. You walk in and the dude says it’s $20.. ok that’s fine it’s NYC. I pay the $20 and then he screams at me to go downstairs and pay for coat check… yes you have to pay… you can’t even just hold your coat.. whatever though we did that. We had a good time with the vibe. We go to the bathroom downstairs and after coming out we go to grab our jackets with the intention of grabbing another drink. We go upstairs and I immediately get surrounded by 3 bouncers forcing me to leave because I had a jacket… told them we were grabbing one drink and leaving and they pretty much said “na your time is up now leave”.. super agro. I was with like 5-6 people at the time so they just lost out on more money because of this. Mind you we already got patted down outside so I don’t know what the issue was. Dudes need to chill. Plenty of other solid spots in the area so I advise you to go somewhere else if you can.
I honestly really enjoy this place. Small place but it has good music and sound. Ive liked all of the food items that Ive tried. Live Salsa on Fridays. Bring your dancing shoes and your best moves. I would say its about a $$ place not super expensive. I would recommend this place for singles and also a great place to go on a date. Get there early and enjoy the happy hour, stay for dinner and then dancing. There is plenty to do. They take cards but I would suggest taking cash for the bar. Bathrooms are kind of far, its the only knock I have for this place but its not bad enough for me to take away stars.
We went out dancing for a friends birthday. It was a good time, from dj to live music. Fun night! Pina Colada was good and wings were delicious
This place has a friendly environment, service is great and prices are reasonable. Love the location and the music great place to come out and enjoy having a great with family and friends
Always a good time. GREAT GUAC TOO❣️
Didnt get to enjoy the place cause the bouncer was so rude for no reason it killed our mood, and we left. We essentially paid $20 for us to be yelled at. But the money isnt the issue it was the fact that he was rude for no reason. Kept yelling at us to do coat check when he could clearly see we were gsthering our cash before we went to coat check.
Please be aware that this venue is falsely manipulating your reservation party size so that they are allowed to charge a fee for no show party. My reservation was made for 6 people, and all 6 were in attendance for our reservation. At time of checking in with the host they said their system showed 9, I proceeded to show them my confirmation email which clearly stated that it was for 6 people and they acknowledged that it was an error on their side however my credit was still charged for no show fees.Furthermore, after a night of spending a significant amount of money ($24 for a mediocre guacamole) at this place we had a very upsetting and violent experience with their disrespectful bouncers, definitely not worth it for the aggravation and treatment that me and my party received. After forcing us to have our coats checked they violently restraint and body slammed my brother to the floor. At the time that me and my party were ready to leave, my brother and sister went to retrieve the coats for everyone in our party from their coat check in the basement. Upon returning up to the main floor, my brother attempted to go back to where the other 4 of us were waiting to give us our coats and they violently proceeded to restraint and slammed him to the floor. Instead of politely informing him that he was not allowed to go back, ofcourse our reaction was to be upset due to their violent nature of communication, it is certainly baffling to me that they believe they have the right to violently put their hands on anyone and slammed them to the floor. There was absolutely no reason for the unnecessary violence. They even forcefully pushed my sister, whom made multiple attemps to deescalate the confrontation as there was 3 male bouncers against my brother, when she attempted to help my brother off the floor. I believe it was a mistake on our part not to call the cops and report the assault but we did not want the situation to escalate further as the 3 males kept on screaming and cursing that they were doing their f***ing job.I would not ever return to this establishment nor reccomend it to anyone. I truly hope that people are fully aware of the kind of treatment they can expect from this place and the people that work there.
BEWARE! If tourists do not go!!!! The friends of the chef and chef are rude and nasty! I’m from NY, honestly embarrassing!! NY is nice and lots of people appreciate when you spend your money at their business. We spent a lot of money and the friends of chef where hanging out there, they are as rude as can be, bullying and aggressive for no reason. Only excuses was given is that’s how they are?!?!?!Update: You responded but I couldn’t reply, it is your restaurant I have the receipt to prove it. The answer should have been we will make sure no one else is harrassed in your establishment. BTW : The aggressors was friends of the chef.
This place is nice when the have the live band, always kinda a crapshoot if they will be good dancers or not. Sometimes a few good folks, other times just a bar playing latin music with people swaying around.
Nice cocktails, they have live music after 12. However its get really pack, if you try to enter before 11pm, so you dont pay the fee, they will make you wait in line after 11pm.
Great atmosphere, beautiful mural throughout the entire place, wonderful music, staff & food. Everything is so fresh & tasty. Im definitely going back. It would be a great date night, especially a first date. Ill be back soon!
All things were good until I took my friend outside to get her car and all of a sudden they didnt want me to go back in. Idk could have been a bad night, but I was looking fwd to hosting my birthday there next week, but if thats how it is np Im not going to do that to my friends
Wasn’t worth the cover charge. Also have to pay for mandatory coat check. Food was ok at best empanadas we’re good.
The best thing of the place is the music. The first time (and only so far) I was waiting in line for more than an hour, there is not much space to dance and to get the attention of the bartenders takes at least 10 minutes if you are lucky.
Had a great experience with Gonzalez & Gonzalez for my birthday! They did the best they could for accommodating me and my guests even though the place was packed. Just one recommendation: If you make a reservation, make sure all or most of your guest arrive at the time of the reservation or even earlier. The place has a high demand so it is difficult for them to sit you if not all or most of your party is there. Nevertheless, the food was amazing and the prices were reasonable. Since it was Friday night, they had live salsa and it was amazing music! Definitely a place to go to if you like to dance to Latin music. Loved the experience! Will be coming here again!
This place is wonderful! We have modest expectations and appreciate good service and Gonzalez y Gonzalez exceeded them. The food was on point, the chef has a clear passion! The drinks were good but most importantly the exceptional service from the bar staff (Joey D) was great!! We highly recommend Gonzalez y Gonzalez!!
Very nice atmosphere, friendly bartenders, the steak quesadilla was delicious. It turned into a salsa club after 11 and got ridiculously and uncomfortably crowded. That is the one downfall they were not limiting the amount of people coming into the space if you are nervous about covid regulation and restrictions they do check or vaccination cards but again they were not limiting the amount of people allowed to come in my opinion. And it was wall to wall people and barely any room to even reach to get a drink from the bar
Food is good, Drinks are great!Be on time for your reservation because you will only have a limited time to be seated, so the next reservation can take the table. The staff will let you know; be nice, its a rule and you are told about it with anticipation. We sat at the bar after diner to enjoy the rest of the night, music is very good and like I said before Drinks a great!
Randomly decided to try this spot on a Friday night. Just so happened that they had a salsa band that night so we had to pay a cover fee I believe it was 20$ per person. Also coat check was mandatory, that was about $2 per piece which was not bad. But after all that they had no tables available for us & since they had a band our only option was sitting at the bar since they would not be seating anymore people. I was hangry at that point which was not at all the restaurants problem. The music was a vibe, not sure who the dj was but the music was great. Redemption really started with the bartender that attended us, he was amazing always polite attentive quick. He was super easy going, which is rare on a busy night with so much work to do. The drinks were very good as well, many options. I told him he reminded me of Berlin from Money Heist, I think he liked that compliment lol. As for food, I had the Tinga quesadilla which was really really good 10/10. Almost forgot they also have hookah after a certain time, I was excited about that. All together, it was a fun experience, make sure you’re not hangry when you go, since its busy you might have to wait a while before eating or finding a seat.
Just like old times, with old friends! Love this place!
I really wish i can have this place as a secret! Ive been coming from the past 4 years since I turned 21. The DJ is always playing the best music. not a fan of the live salsa band but I love the atmosphere. The Security is Top Notch always makes me feel safe. The only down fall is the long wait to go in. I would recommend GG for after hours.
My husband and I went there last week. The food was great but the atmosphere is for younger crowd. It was super crowded and theres no separate section for hookah smokers. The place is small for the amount of people that are allowed in. You cant enjoy dancing due to the large crowd and people smoking hookah.I dont understand why thats allow in close areas and the cigarette smoking is not. If youre an old time salsa dancers this is not the place for you to enjoy.Nevertheless Again the food was awesome.
Its been a while since I dot go out dancing... because nowadays nobody likes to dance. People just sit, drink and smoke hookahs..... WELL, NOT HERE.... I was amazed how much people actually dance and just stay up all night having fun... I had a blast, I really like this place. Someone told me food is great too, next time Im going early to taste the food.
Great Live music on a Friday Night. The place was busy and I was surprised that a lot of people actually were beginners at dancing salsa / bachata. So dont overthink of you dont know to dance. Just go you will have fun!The price to enter was $20 and $2 for coat check.
Unfortunately I had a really bad experience, the security guy inside the place was totally disrespectful!!! Unbelievable!!!!! I was not feeling well inside because it got so hot and came next to the door to drink a sip of water and have some fresh air, this guy said he was going to kick me out, he yelled at me in front of a lot of people in a very mean way telling me stuff like you don’t tell me what to do, get out of here and things like that, I got so scared that I left the place just because of him. I still can’t believe how NASTY he talked to me. Definitely don’t recommend this place because that’s not how you’re expected to be treated by “the security guy”. Definitely this place needs to do something with him. HE HAS NO RIGHT TO TREAT ANYONE LIKE THAT.Thank you for reading my really bad experience in this place.
Amazing place... so far the best latin party Ive found in New York. If you get there before 10 you dont have to pay cover, after that you should pay 10 bucks. They have a good variety of beers and also cocktails. The happy hour is from 4 pm to 8 pm. If youre hungry theres a bunch of options to eat, even in the late night. Crowded place...but who needs a seat when the plan is dancing the entire night?
They still have happy hour everyday til 9pm. Food is great and staff is also great. Very clean place they definitely practice social distances. Wearing mask and temperature check upon arrival. I will return for the shrimp tacos, coconut margarita
Great live band and strong drinks. Only a $10 cover. It got jammed pretty quick so get there earlier in the evening before the rush, I got there around 11. Great crowd mix....just a good place to dance and have fun. Highly recommend if you love salsa...
Im going to start this review saying that our group (7 guests) was incomplete when the reservation started. After my group arrived, closely to the time they removed the chairs and tables, the service was awful. 3 guests who got there on time had consumed almost 200 dollars but looks like it wasnt enough. We couldnt order drinks or food to our table... There were still people seated! We were a group of 5 women and two men. When one of our guest came in at 10. He was told he had to wait outside in a 15° weather degree because he was late to our reservation. We had to call the manager. Security were constantly harassing him for the coats situation and even before we left, we still order more drinks but they wanted to take us out because we went to get our coats. After paying and tipping very well for coat check. Experience was bad. Staff was not nice. There are 7 people that wouldnt go to G&G again.
Only excuses was given is that’s how they are?!?!?!
This place is one of the worst places you can visit in New York. If you are looking for a place to dance Latin music then this is not the place for you. It is simply a cash grab and a non-authentic replica. They have a cover price that varies per person, and a mandatory jacket fee that doesn’t even qualify. Apparently some people can wear jackets and others can’t here. I highly recommend you guys avoid this place at all cost.
Always been a great place with great food. Still a little tight in the seating. But a place with a great atmosphere.
Come early before salsa class 8:45 and dance! Friendly regulars best lesson you can get. The only complaint is very hot - doesn’t seem there is AC
It was great! The restaurant turns into a club at 11:30PM. Music was good, a lot more salsa and Bachata, but very lively and had a good time! Drinks were very good!
Came here for their Salsa night on Thursdays. $10 cover. Live band has a set. Music is mostly good. Dance floor is busy. I didnt drink anything so cant speak to the service at the bar. I had a good time. Appreciated the live music.
I recently went there on a date on a Saturday night and I had a blast. The bartenders were really nice, clean spot overall, and the whole restaurant turns into a huge dancefloor at a certain time. There was a mix of music but the night started off with a heavy salsa vibe.
I came here with my girls on a Saturday night. We made reservations at 9:15 for 4 people and last minute I added a 5th guest which they accomadated right away! The vibe, the music was amazing! Their live salsa band was great! Two things that really disappointed me was that our food was room temp. I ordered a skirt steak and it was not hot at all and it was over cooked I had ordered it medium well and it came well done. On top of that the server made a mistake with the cash given at the end which to be honest I didn’t mind at all we are all humans and we make mistakes, BUT the manager insisted that we were lying!! He Immediately said no that’s impossible instead of saying okay we will return whatever they charged extra ! We did get the money back but didn’t feel like they owned up to it. So rude. I was excited mostly about the food and live band but if my food would of been hotter and cooked to the right temp I would of given this place more stars, the food did taste good but unfortunately given the situation I was a bit disappointed.
The band was good. Asked for a glass of water and they said they have bottled water. Costs 20 dlls to enter.
On April 7th, I hosted my wife’s 40th birthday party at Gonzalez Y Gonzalez (GyG). This is my attempt at capturing the service, experience and overall process of working with GyG.The process started a few months before April 7th. Both Joey, the owner, and Stephanie were nothing but gracious throughout the planning and booking process. Stephanie is an absolute professional! - personable, knowledgeable and responsive. The day or the event was flawless. Everything from the attentiveness and overall service from Carlos, to the food an professionalism… made the my wife’s 40th a moment that will be forever remembered… and tied to GyG and their excellence.Thank you Joey, Carlos, the whole GyG squad… and a SPECIAL thanks to Stephanie.. you are a gem. Can’t wait to come back!!! Forever a fan…
This will be the last time I ever go to this place. I made a reservation for my birthday for 13 people. When I got there I was informed that they hold my table for 20 min or they charge me 10$ a head! That’s 130$ if my entire party was not there! Then they sat us on the stage to eat which was fine but then rushed us to the point where we could not even get our food because they needed the stage by 11 (our reservation was for 9:15pm) so that the band can set up. They were extremely pushy and rude. Terrible experience. I was very disappointed to the point that I didn’t enjoy my bday night until I left. Do yourself a huge favor. NEVER GO THERE! Find a nicer place with nicer staff. -the waitress though was an absolute sweetheart. I hope she finds a better place for employment soon.
My second home! Catch me there on a Thursday dancing the night away. The owner Joe treats his regulars like family. The service is amazing, the food is to die for (personalnfavs are the grilled salmon or steak dish). Get there before 9pm for free entry, after that it is around $10. Youll get a great return for that investment.
Food was amazing and the staff was very friendly and helpful! Rogelio was our waiter and he was very attentive and helpful surprising the birthday girl with some dessert!!
This place always has great live salsa bands, and is very popular. I know theyre a restaurant during normal hours, and turn into a club at night. Ive been here many times to see several bands, and dance salsa on the weekends. However, Im not very fond of G & G. I feel there are way too many college age kids, and it gets too crowded for my taste. The staff is kind of uptight and rude as well.
MY CREDIT CARD HAD AN EXTRA UNAUTHORIZED CHARGE. I went there and I had a couple of drinks and something to eat the bar. They asked me for a Credit Card, so I open a tab. After I was done I paid with the same credit card I open the tab and I left. 2 weeks later, I checked my credit card statement and I noticed a second charge on my card 4 days later after my visit. I was charged an extra $116.39 I called my credit card and the charge is being disputed. In other words, they charged me an extra $116 from my credit card. I had problems at G&G with the service before, but never like this. I am not coming back ever. I want to believe this was done by mistake, otherwise, it would be so sad they steal form customers.
Planned a night out with a group of friends. Total of 14 people. I arrived with two and we were waiting on the everyone else to arrive. As soon as I advised the host that not everyone has arrived, he proceed to tell me that there is a two hour limit per table. I asked if that was from the time we were seated and he said no it started at my reservation time, which was 7pm. We sat at the bar to wait on everyone and ordered a pitcher of margaritas, table side guacamole and appetizer sampler. The food and drinks were mediocre at best. The guacamole was not mixed properly. Drinks were more sour mix then anything else. The host continuously came over to repeat the fact that there is a two hour table limit. It was absolutely ridiculous! Dont get me wrong I understand that some restaurants have table time limits, however the presentation of the information was terrible, as was the customer service. Beginning from the host through the bartenders and wait staff. At 11pm the tables are taken away and it turns into a dance floor. That was the best part of this place. Music was decent, although the DJ did have it too loud for the side of the space. I would only recommend going here for the dancing. Lastly, the temperature was way too hot.
Excellent in Sunday because they have free salsa and bachata class, and they have happy hour 5-7 delicious cocktails, and the food always amazing
I hosted my friends baby shower here a few weeks ago and it was absolutely perfect! From the service, the space to set up decorations, the FOOD, the drinks, music, even to the owner, they are absolute too notch. If youre looking for good authentic Mexican food, drinks, music, and ambiance, this is it! The paella was the best Ive ever had!
Great music and energy. Drinks were solid and not overly priced. A bit crowded, but to be expected on a Saturday night
Gonzalez & Gonzalez its a really good restaurant. They have a great combination of Mexican food, drinks and cocktails. They a couple of packages you can take advantage of if youre celebrating a friends birthday. You can drink as much as you want for 2 hours. Later on the night the restaurant clears up the floor to make room for the dance floor. I had a really good time with my friends. The food was really good. Surprisingly we found parking right out side of the restaurant. Overall it is a pretty good restaurant and the servers were all on point.
Terrible servers, and bar service too. Nasty margaritas, they definitely don’t use fresh ingredients. When I complained about my espolon margarita, the Bartender he said “ you don’t know what a good margarita is.” Gave me so much of an attitude, threw my drink out and walked away. I’ll never be going back. So much disrespect
Just okay....I complained to the waiter that the salsa with my chips appetizer tasted like nothing (zero flavor) and he just shrugged, so I didnt bother to order dinner. This is a shame, as I see that other reviews say the food is good, but 1st impressions are lasting ones.
First time going here waited in line for an hour and paying 20 dollars to go in to a sauna. They have no AC ! Drinks were watered down as well. Everyone was sweaty and the only thing they played was bad bunny. Do not come here unless you want to get out dripping sweat as if you had gone to the gym.
Im Penny from back in the days when Gonzalez on Mercer just opened. Still love the place. Today I stopped by to have my favorite Margarita. Havent been there in awhile. Speaking with one of the owners I told him still the best Margaritas In New York even though its pre-mixed. Found out this is a old recipe from 20 years ago. Every day by hand its made fresh. I am floored. Cudoos who new. Theyre really the best.
Tourist in NYC. Was here for a Hispanic neuroscience get-together and I was impressed. Food was great, drinks were strong, and then the dancing went all night. I think we left at 1AM and there was a line of people waiting in the freezing cold to get in.
The food and cocktails are delicious. Great restaurant for larger group seating. Lots of fun and if you stay here long enough, great ready to dance the night away
It is my first review for a club. But what happens to me was very bad. I waited 1h to go in.I did pay a cover of $20 for theoretically 2 drinks, any drink. I ordered Jack and coke. Nothing fancy. I tried to pay with my entrance tickets and they claimed that drink wasnt included after preparing it. They wanted me to pay an extra $10. I say that I didnt want the drink then, and the bartender called security and force me to pay. I throw the $10 bill, let the drink untouched, and left. Never been treated so rude. It is no my first mistreatment in this club. I strongly recommend find an alternative Spanish club. It is pricey, always a long queue, and they are always, always very rude.
Nice atmosphere and delicious, tasty Mexican food. Server was very efficient and friendly. Made our experience outstanding 👏. The only thing that I missed was the live music and salsa / bachata clases. Its not available until July. I cant wait for that. That make the place more attractive 😍
I would give zero stars because the service just walking in was stupid. We opened the door and were instantly told to wait outside. there was only two customers inside waiting to be seated. and then no one told us to come in and then proceeded to seat two other people who walked in. I didnt even get a hello or please wait, just rude. let me add we were wearing masks and had our vaccine cards ready. lost out on two customers. kudos to your rude front staff. a little manners go a long way !
The only saving grace was the live band. Otherwise the dance floor was too small leaving no chance to dance comfortably. The decoration is stereotypical Mexican as were some of the menus offerings. Didn’t drink so can’t speak to their quality but don’t have high hopes.
So fun, great salsa band and the dj played a good range of music too, awesome frozen margaritas. super diverse crowd of people looking to have a fun night out. There is a 10$ cover but if it pays the band its ok with me.
