The view of the empire state building is incredible, the service was great, but the drink was subpar I couldnt finish it.(I got the For The Gram). If youre someone who cares more about the vibes and view then this place is good, but there are probably better cocktails at other bars. Still, a nice place overall.
I’m a bit of a rooftop snob. Been to most rooftops in Manhattan in my life. This one is medium sized but has quite nice vibes and decorations. I had a mojito and whiskey sour. I’d give the whiskey sour an 8/10 while the mojito only a subpar 6/10. For this place, I’d say the service sets it apart because it’s very good. Friendly and attentive. I will note my visit today is 6pm on a a Monday evening so I could not speak for busier times. Whether you’re hanging at the indoor bar or outdoor seating, you’re sure to enjoy the vibes and view. I’d like to particularly note this place has a front row seat view of the Empire State Building just like 230 fifth does. I’m sure it looks great at night
Debated on going to this rooftop so may times before and I’m so upset this was my first time here because I loved it!! Amazing view of the Empire State Building! Drinks were absolutely amazing. Food was meh, we had the tuna tacos but it was missing a little more seasoning.. a little more soy and it would’ve been perfect. Service from our waitress was good, it was a busy Friday night so I’m sure she did the best she could. The music was also really good there was a live DJ. Also loved how easy it was to book the reservation and how fast we were accommodated when we arrived.
There is a beautiful view and nice decor. I unfortunately missed out on most of my reservation because we still had to wait on line for an hour still, and I had to wait on line for my birthday at midnight. Our server was definitely sweet but didn’t come to our table much, didn’t get to order enough drinks. It was mostly due to limited staff, not because she wasn’t a good waitress. Overall, it was fun but stressful, perhaps walking in is better than expecting something to come out of your reservation.
Ive been meaning to write this review for a month now as I hosted an event for ~35 people in May at Monarch Rooftop. I did not try the food (though we had a spread, I didnt try it unfortunately) so I am not reviewing that here, but the atmosphere and the service were both outstanding. The Monarch team were well organized and had everything ready early for us (we arrived early and they set up early for us.) If you host anything at Monarch, I also recommend you ask for Briana as your server. She was on top of all the drink requests and made sure the whole group felt like they were the one who was hosting. (Thank you Briana!) And it goes without saying the view is fantastic. Id happily host another event here in the future.
I typically do not write reviews but feel like I need to share our experience at Monarch rooftop. We recently had an engagement party with ~125 people at Monarch. It turned out to be a truly magnificent night. The feedback and response we received from friends and family that attended was amazing. We knew that the views and atmosphere would be great but the food, which was prepared on site was delicious, and the service from the bartenders, servers, to the manager and GM was world class. We highly recommend this venue for your next event.
Our Bridal Shower at Monarch Rooftop Bar was perfect! Amazing views of the city skyline created a magical atmosphere that wowed all our guests. The staff was incredibly accommodating, and ensured every detail was flawless, from the delicious cocktails to the elegant decor. The rooftop setting added a special touch to our celebration, making it truly unforgettable.
Tried to charge me $6,000 to sit down at a plastic table next to a hole in the floor. I have never been so insulted. I have held 4 seasons of New York Fashion Week Celebrations at this venue, the views are always breathtaking, music can be too loud depending on where you sit but always good music, food and drink are great despite a long wait. Management needs to be more educated on celebrity guests and careful not to disrespect them especially to their faces as they are being photographed in front of the monarch logo. I was also recently appalled to be lied to being informed by VIP section according to the monarch only spent $200 in one night when at that same night just one of my guests in my VIP section left with a bill of $400. I have also noticed the recent crowds coming into the monarch are not dressed accordingly, do not behave as I have been assaulted and several of my guests have been inappropriately touched as well. Management and social media management have absolutely no idea who is in their venue even when being directly told who is there, and I just could not be more insulted that I was lied to so greatly on just numbers. Roped off vip sections do not have security posted until long after it becomes a problem, pleasant and polite bar staff, long wait for anything from the bar, I feel used for press and for names. This would have been a 5 star review if I had different experiences but if you want a selfie with a good view while you wait 45 minutes for a drink and get touched and pushed around by just about everyone else in the venue, this is your place to go.
This is the perfect place to meet up with friends or have a date night. The friendly atmosphere and decor make you feel comfortable and welcoming. The staff are always helpful, and the little bites food was excellent 👌. If there was any improvement to be made, it would be the selection of flavoured Gins on offer, but we found this to be the case at all the bars we visited in New York. Its best to book a table as it is very popular but well worth a visit. You will not be disappointed.
Awful experience!Didn’t have a reservation but host told us to find a table where we wanted. Chose a table and sat down and ordered our drinks which cost $45 for two cocktails! As we were sitting at a table, a host walks past and puts a reserved sign on the table which we were confused about. Then 5 mins later the host told us the table is reserved even though we were sat there and the bar was empty. The host told me if I wanted to speak to the manager which I agreed to.Angry manager, Kevin then came over and told us we needed to move to a table which was a metre away. Asked why and he said this table is reserved. I said it wasn’t reserved when we sat down. He told us if we didn’t move we would need to leave. He was extremely rude and not accommodating at all when it wasn’t our fault and there were soooo many other tables available. His attitude was appalling for a ‘manager’. Such a shame as it spoiled our night over something that was so minor but he made it such a big deal. It was like he was getting off on the drama. He even called 911 to make himself look even more important which was laughable and shameful. He needs a management course ASAP and shouldn’t be working with the general public until he learns how to speak to people. Whoever employees him, needs to have words asap as this isn’t the sort of service you would expect.
DON’T go here! Unless you want to be in a noisy place and have to make a reservation just for a standing room, NOT worth it!Made a reservation on 6/18 to enjoy the nice weather outside and man was this place such a bad choice! Our reservation turned out to be standing room only! Who in the world is ever required to make a reservation to stand?? Super ridiculous! There are better and more beautiful rooftops to experience. Please don’t bother making a reset to Adam’s!
I was a guest at a bridal shower at Monarch this weekend. I was shocked at how bad this was. It was a beautiful day with a strong sun. The rooftop was completely closed up with clear plastic- like a greenhouse. The heat was intense. It was only after asking multiple times that the staff finally opened up some of the plastic sheeting and turned on some fans. Some of the cushions on the couches were obviously left out in the rain from the night before because guests clothing got soaked from sitting on them. The party was supposed to be for 40 people. There was barely enough “food” for 30. We were served tiny Costco frozen appetizers that weren’t even fully cooked. There were supposed to be assorted croissant and pastries included in the catering package but they were never served. When the manager was questioned, he became rude and belligerent. It was only after the family of the bride pulled out the invoice/contract that listed the pastries as being included did he say “he’d figure something out”. When there was less than 20 minutes left before we had to be out of the restaurant, he came out with a plate of FROZEN (still had frost on them) pastries - that could also be found at Costco. The bar maid and the waitress were the only two staff members that did a good job and cared about the guests comfort.Yes, the view was beautiful and it was fun to be on a rooftop in NYC but for the price the family paid - they should have received much better service. The owner should be ashamed to run an establishment that is so disgracefully managed. There are much better rooftop bars and restaurants throughout NYC - avoid this one - it’s not worth it.
The lounge is so incredibly lovely. The views of the Empire State Building are so incredible and the ambiance is amazing. The staff was so kind! The only bad thing is that I feel like for nearly $20 a cocktail maybe the drinks could be a tiny bit better. Other than that it was so magical!
Monarch is that hip place giving you a feeling of exclusivity right from the start (Reservations are a must). It is one of those swanky places where you can meet your friends over a cool setting - that being refreshing drinks, tasty appetizers within a trendy ambience with spectacular views. All of which are definitely true. The views of 34th St are amazing. The cocktails are delicious. The food presentation and taste is definitely top notch. And the ambience is quite fun (at least during my visit all the folks around seemed to have fun). However service could be much improved, specially for the pricing that they charge. Reservations are allotted for 2 hours only. And drink orders took at least 40 mins to arrive at our table for our group. As much as we loved them, and wanted to order more, unfortunately we ran out of time after our 2nd order. While our server was great, rest of the staff could be friendlier (host, security etc).Overall, it is definitely an experience for at least once.
Для того, чтоб попасть в этот бар, вам нужен паспорт или ID, проверяют на входе. Большой выбор напитков, еда в формате «перекусить».Хорошая музыка и прекрасный вид.(Translated by Google)In order to get into this bar, you need a passport or ID, they check at the entrance. Large selection of drinks, snack food.Good music and great view.
Just avoid this place! the food is just horrible! tacco bell is well better! I cant imagine such a beautiful place with this kind of poor-quality food. We ordered king shrimps, a pizza and chicken something...all was frozen, with absolutely no taste. The service is average with no special attention to clients...we had to serve the wine ourselves and ask again and again for something before it comes.so bad because the place is really nice, but the management must definitely review their cuisine and staff.
Great rooftop views. Modern design and plenty of space. Music was pretty good and they have a dance floor. Tables cost $50/person which is very reasonable. Drinks weren’t that strong though. It is a bit touristy (it’s in midtown so undetstandable) so it was a bit of an older/awkward crowd than you’d find in other areas. I’d come back for the views.
Loved this rooftop. Perfect rooftop with great views of empire state building, macys, & other buildings. Theres a Dj with Great music playing. Great venue.Need reservations for seats, other than that, you can be at the bar or walking around.Extensive and creative cocktail list. Great list for food choices.Came here after a broadway show and was looking forward to grabbing a bite here with a drink. But the kitchen was closed...so that made me a little upset.Definitely will return though & Highly recommend for a good time. Good for any company.
Luis messed up my order and tried to overcharge my friend for a drink. My friend wanted to pay for a drink I had already ordered and was already drinking. Then Luis instead made an extra drink for me thinking that we were ordering another drink. I noticed the confusion and I mentioned it to the bartender, and he literally TOOK my drink away from me. I asked why, if he already made the mistake and that it was his fault would he take my drink away from me that was already made??? He then said “we don’t give away free drinks” and proceeded to say that the drink is not paid for. It was his responsibility to get the order correct and he messed up, and already wasted liquor and juice on it, why couldn’t he let me keep the drink and try to amend the issue in a professional manner instead being cold and blaming it on me? BELOW GRADE HOSPITALITY AND ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY, and the Asian girl was also backing him up and very passive aggressive about it. It is your fault, let the customer keep the drink and move on, I had already sipped from it and it went down the drain anyways!!! Absolutely and completely unprofessional behavior.
I mean... cant beat these views! While visiting NYC this was the only rooftop that we made it too and I think thats OK. I dont know if it could be topped. The bartender loaded our drinks and our waitress was sweet and great. The lychee martinis were so good. .. we had quite a few ;) it was nice to have the kitchen open past 1030 and we enjoyed the Margherita Flatbread and sliders.
Amazing vibe. Limited seating so try to reserve if you want to sit down. The views are great, bartenders are awesome, music is excellent.
What a stuck up place. The employees are outright rude. The $21 martinis are tiny. Don’t waste your time or money. The highlight was sighting in the hanging chairs. Technically it was the only thing not with a pretentious “reserved” sign we could find. This is was a Thursday night btw.
This place is a fantastic rooftop bar! 🍸 Monarch Rooftop serves great cocktails 🍹 alongside a breathtaking view 🪟 of the Empire State Building! 🗽 Service is quick and staff 👨🍳 is super welcoming and professional! They have plenty of heated 🔥 indoor seating 🪑 and open outdoor seating. I wish I came here earlier!
Veronica was the best host! Was here for the first time and enjoyed everything about this place. Drinks were on the money! Thanks Veronica!!
This place is great. You have a nice view of the empire state building. The staff are very pleasant. I highly recommend this spot for an evening out.
Great spot, go there often. Fries are delicious, drinks are average. The coverage is a bit lacking for hot and sunny days.
One of the best views of the Empire State Building. High tables were good but its unacceptable to not put some hangers below the tables! The music was solid. People were nice but the cocktails wasn’t that impressive. Don’t be salty cocktail was just tequila! For the gram and frose&chill was sweet and presentations were cute! Recommended but not the best for the drinks.
The views are the only good thing at that. The server/hostess was really kind trying to help us out and serve us.The place was quite dirty being a slow night.Restrooms were really dirty and trash everywhere.Place needs some work as there was wood planks coming off.The tarp takes away a lot of the view, I know it’s there due to the cold weather. Looks better in pictures. Much smaller than expected. The people working were helpful and nice. Drinks were pretty good, a little overpriced but you’re paying for the view.
This rooftop was definitely worth a visit! The vibe inside was very upscale and the view was incredible. Although during the winter, they have a clear tent set up that encloses the large majority of the roof. It’s decorated with plants and classy seating that almost gives you the feeling of being in a trendy greenhouse cafe. The DJ and dance floor had a good energy and incredible views of the Empire State Building.
Monarch is where you go for a cozy dance and drink vibe. The seating is limited and that controls the crowd. The dance area opens up on the terrace which has lighted up empire state building at the backdrop. That makes it unique. The drinks are expensive - so keep that in mind. But the money spent is worth. We had a blast with friends. An added attraction is the musician with the live guitar (or ukulele perhaps) performance.
Went here before dinner for a drink on a double date. I ordered a margarita and it might as well have been from a chain restaurant. It was acidic and was basically heartburn in a glass. Lemon juice was not organic/real or fresh.I ended up changing the drink to a mojito and it was slightly better but not worth the NYC cocktail price.Good views and vibes but drinks are subpar. Staff was friendly and venue was clean.
Excellent venue. Great for a night out with friends as well as with your significant other. Extensive and creative cocktail list. Southbeach mojito is just like being in MIA again and the Snatched AF was delicious. If you can, ask for Bailey as your cocktail waitress. Great time and awesome views of the city and Empire State building!
I had the most appalling experience at Monarch Rooftop. My friends and I, all women in our mid-thirties, were turned away at the door because we had an 11-month-old baby with us (a Monday at 3pm, with the establishment completely empty). Despite explaining our situation, the staff rudely repeated, Its a bar, as if that excused their blatant discrimination. Its utterly disappointing that in this day and age, establishments still hold archaic views and treat customers with such disrespect. I strongly advise against patronizing a place that values arbitrary rules over basic decency and inclusivity.
This Rooftop bar is amazing place to be in Friday night. I went with my Friends and absolutely enjoyed it. This place is real NYC. Surrounded by Empire State Building and other Notable buildings. This is a Vibrant place. I am giving 4 stars because they dont have any Snacks with the drinks. That makes you feel so empty. The DJ was not mixing good music. This was not good at all. You will enjoy the ambiance and that is more than enough. I will post the pictures also which makes this place amazing sans good music
Kevin - the Harry Potter lookalike manager was suffering menopause whilst serving us.Quite an experience that resulted in a 911 call when we asked if we could leave.Your only option is to wingardium leviosa yourself off the rooftop!
Amazing view, nice drink(s), but after switching the place, the service person ignored me completely and didnt even offer me more water. So after waiting for 30 mins I decided to not stay for a second drink but leave.I also didnt eat there because the food is highly overpriced.
The place was nice and liked that it was across from the empire state building. The views were amazing. The food was also good. The flat bread buffalo pizza was way bigger than usual. Where the heck experience fell shirt was when I attempted to use the restroom. There were three bathrooms but the line was unpleasantly long. Now I know this is New York and where in Manhattan but there has to be better accommodations. To be prepared to dine or have fun, come earlier and make a reservation beforehand. This will minimize your wait time at the door.
By far, the best rooftop in NYC!!!!! I hosted a surprise 21st birthday here, and everything was just amazing. From the view, the food/drinks, and best of all, the service! HUGE SHOUTOUT to JOY, our server/hostess who took care of all of our needs throughout the entire night!! Thank you Monarch Rooftop for making my sisters birthday more incredible than my family and I could have imagined!
Good appetizers especially the sliders. Good open space but so so customer service. Depending on were u sit , u will get good breeze n a great view.
Ah!! Such a lively rooftop. Because of all the poor reviews, I never happened to visit this place before but glad I did coz it had a really lively vibe...maybe coz I went around a Sunday afternoon. Wasnt too crowded. Drinks were strong although its pricey ( welcome to nyc!!) about $16 a drink.. but my friend ordered this Gin drink which was so bfully done. I got a hot toddy- was quite good. All in all- a chill place. I do recommend it.
Really nice place with an amazing view. You do have to be properly dressed and I suggested putting your name on the guest list or making a reservation. If you dont you will be waiting in line for some time. Ladies if you have a very large bag they wont let you in. So pick a little purse or wristlet. I like the atmosphere there and I had some of their finger food it was pretty good. We went Friday nighy and DJ played a nice mix of songs.
Monarch Rooftop is very famous rooftop near Herald Square. The view is amazing with Empire State Building in the front. This is the only place from where Macys Building, which the largest superstore down, can be viewed. They have good drinks and food. Rooftop area is also comfortable. Friendly staff. You need to be well dressed to enter. They consider dressing as one of the criteria when it is crowded.
Very nice location and the view of the Empire state building is amazing. The service was great, as expected in NY. However the food and drinks were nice but nothing more than that....and very expensive.
Turned out to be one of a beautiful night in the city. It was Wednesday evening and the next day was thanksgiving, we hopped 2-3 bars and came out of disappointment as it was quiet and that’s unlikely to happen when you’re in New York. In disappointment we approached towards the path station, we were on 35th street and checked this rooftop was there. We have been there earlier and know they serve good drinks. Moreover as it was not too cold we just thought of going to the top and grab a drink. And to my surprise, yet again it was as lively it was a couple of years ago I went. Same vibes, same rocking crowd and amazing cocktails. I understood it very well now, Monarch is never going to disappoint me. I will visit soon.My followers, this rooftop is highly recommended. Cheers and happy thanksgiving! 🥂
SONIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. That’s it . that’s all . That’s the review . Please - if you are here, just ask for SONIA ! Add the Exclamation points !!! Plus extra . She was the greatest . She went above and beyond her call of duty . My whole party enjoyed themselves and it was because of her . Even the manager said write her a letter a review — so here it is . We loved Sonia and please askFor her !!!! When I come back - nobody can serve be but Sonia ✨
Amazing skyline views and the Dj played just about every genre of music from pop, to Afrobeats, to soca, to Latin music, a little bit of everything for everyone! We went on a Friday night and it wasnt crazy busy at all, just enought people to be a vybe. 2 tips: definitely secure a reservation online to avoid standing in the long entry lines and make sure you tip the bar tenders well, as they remember you and it will show in their service to you!
Vibe was on 10. Ambience is lively and trendy. The PEOPLE all were dope. The view 😍😍 Literally gets 4 stars just for that and the weather (which of course they had nothing to do with) lol.Ok so these DRINKS …. MEH. The Long Island tasted like a Long Island daiquiri. The frosé at this location is entirely too sweet. Gotta use less ice when asking for an ON THE ROCKS drink. Lastly THERES NO COGNAC?!?!?! UGH! (Had to take a star off for the drinks cuz WHEW)
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade at @monarchnyc Rooftop Lounge . The fantastic people at Monarch went beyond expectations to make the viewing of the parade an amazing and thrilling event! Great food, fantastic viewing areas, stellar service, warm and welcoming, and they did it all with smiles! We met people from UK, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Ohio, even a native New Yorker. Going to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was a lifelong dream for me. Seeing it at Monarch Rooftop Lounge made it a Perfect day!!
Sunday Sunshine Party at Monarch looftop lounge 🥂🍸🍷🍹So fun and Happy hours with international friends around NYC USA 🇺🇸. ENJOY YOUR TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS 👍
This is the best place, been there before and it was excellent. The last time I went it amazing service until the end when closing. We spent over $500 and one guy Mike was so rude kicking everyone out. This place is really nice but he ruined the experience for my friends and myself.
The customer service here was horrible. We reserved a table online, we got there and it was obviously very very busy and they were over reserved. The hostess asked us if we could just stand at the bar and walk around instead of getting a table because they really had nothing available. She then offered us a high top table, but said it was better if we sat at the bar and walk around because we would get more out of the experience. We agreed, thinking she would have our best interest. We were wrong, there was no space to really walk around and it was very packed. We ended up taking one of the high top tables without mentioning it to her. We were than insulted and belittled buy one of her coworkers, for taking one of the tables and saying we were lying for taking one of the tables, and that we never had reservations. I just don’t understand if you were going to be that busy, why leave reservations open online and let yourselves be overbooked and then disrespect an insult your customers. The atmosphere was great, and the drinks were very mid. I would come back, but only if there were no reservations and we were sitting at the bar. They don’t treat you very well if you have reservations.
Sonia is the absolute best!!! Made our night one we will never forget. Thank you so much!!!
Sodas seemed to be diet or off brand - not good. Vibes are great and the view is gorgeous.
Had my boyfriend’s birthday drinks here. The bartender was super sweet. Such a cute experience with gorgeous views
Amazing view! But the food and cocktails were overpriced because were not good.
Highly recommend the Monarch for a group event! I had a surprise engagement party here where 35 of our friends and family surprised my fiance and it could not have gone better! The event manager, Ksenia, was super responsive and extremely easy to work with leading up to the event. And the night of was perfect - we had a good amount of space to where everyone could easily mingle without feeling crowded, and the staff absolutely crushed it! We went with the open bar package, and the wait staff made sure everyone in the party was very well taken care of all night! The manager was also super friendly and checked multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed. The venue is beautiful and right underneath the Empire State Building. Exactly what you need for a wonderful group event!
HORRIBLE staff. Lady at the bathroom is disgustingly disrespectful. Great drinks & food though
This is a very beautiful rooftop, ideal to spend time with friends.Loved it.Available in summer & winter in NY.
Great holiday party at the Monarch Rooftop this week. Loved the set up, views, food and drinks. Staff was amazing and friendly. Special shout to the coat check crew and Mich for helping our large group get through.
Such a beautiful spot but sadly bartenders with no personality or attentiveness
Great NYC rooftop experience! Good vibes, great drinks/service. Nice place to host an event or hang with friends. The staff are friendly & atmosphere is soothing. Special thanks to Mich as she made our experience smooth and fun!
I love the place.Personnel is really great and friendly. Not no mention the views. 🤩
Absolutely awful. Went for Christmas Eve. Told to que for 5 minutes on our own with noone else in the queue (i assume in an attempt to make it look busy). When we finally got in the loft to the top, It was dead, staff in tracksuits, and a very cheap vibe. We lasted 2 minutes before leaving, and seems everyone before us did the same.Do not ruin your evening as we did going to this place.
I was there for an event and had a great time. Great central location close to several subway stations. Check in service and security was great. The views were wonderful, and the food (light fare) was really tasty and good portion sizes and reasonable priced. I would return and would recommend to friends. I would also consider hosting a large group of friends at the property.
I spent months looking for the perfect spot to propose and couldnt be more happy with the folks at Monarch and the hard work they put in to make it happen. There are a lot of rooftop proposal services in NY but I cant stress enough to go with these folks instead if thats what youre going for as I dont think anyone else will offer the personal touch that they do. Special shout-out to Ksenia, Christina, Andrea, and Andrew for making this one of the best nights of our lives!
Super posh spot for work happy hour!Great views all around!!!Left off a fiver because the hostess are kind of on a power trip like bouncers at a club. There were more then a few empty tables that my wife and i could have sat at and we ushered away to the corner...We had a good time all and all!The drinks are great and spicy!
The bartenders were very attentive. The cocktails were not bad, but not spectacular. They do have a nice selection of spirits and the bartenders were also open to creating cocktails and mocktails to fit our preferences. The view is spectacular and a must for someone visiting NYC.
I hosted a fantastic party at this venue recently. To sum it up, this place is perfect for any event. Their excellent service, delicious food, and beautiful location make for a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this venue for your next event; its a hidden gem.
My visit to a rooftop bar was a delightful experience. The ambiance was stylish and relaxed, making it an ideal setting for socializing and enjoying the company of friends or loved ones. The attentive and friendly staff added to the overall positive experience. I particularly enjoyed the opportunity to savor my drink while taking in the views, which added an extra layer of enjoyment to the evening.
You should never go to this place. The woman in the frontdesk… omg… I really hope she gets fired because you just can’t host people this way. At this point it’s not even bad talking, she’s just being mean. This kind of attitude is just so bad for business. I know they don’t care because they have so many people coming so they don’t have to be nice, but there is limits. I hope someday people won’t be as nice as we’ve been with her.
I used to come there some years ago and the place was quite good with an amazing view. This time we even didnt manage to come inside because we had a bag. It was just an excuse to kick off tourists.Promise well never come back and well never spend our money in your bar
Monarch was a vibe. The staff were pleasant and the cocktails on point.
Lovely view of the empire state building, upscale feeling and good drinks
I was here for a work party. Not my typical scene but it was nice despite the rain on the rooftop. My drinks good, food options available to us were good as well. If you like the midtown crowd go for it. Im a downtown, village , LES without the preppies kind of a person.
Our experience was easy and smooth as walkins! Been here before several times over the years buuuuut…Denisa was the one who made the entire experience so much better. We were grateful for her support in making sure we were happily accommodated during our stay! Please thank her for us!
Many original cocktail recipes! There are large food plate perfect to share!
Great service and attention. Always a good time
Ive been here a few times and though I like the view and vibe of the rooftop the drinks are completely watered down. I had shots and drinks that were almost all water and/or juice Im very disappointed, for the price of a drink at nyc rooftops you should not be getting watered down drinks/shots.
Place is nice bc of the Empire State Building view. Reasonable food and drinks. Hated the experience because i had to talked to the rudest, dumbest and smuggest bouncer i’ve ever seen. He kept mocking people making dumbest jokes! I’ve been to this place a million times, and was always good. I guess they changed ownership or something, bc that guy is not the first face you wanna see
Beautiful view rooftop especially as sunset falls. You can take a great picture with the Empire State Building in the backdrop. It does get crowded so if youre planning to eat, book a reservation for a table ahead of time. The drinks are a bit pricey but unique and delicious. Staff is also very friendly. Great spot to start your night out!
Drinks were not great and pricey. Its a rooftop so youd expect expensive drinks, but at least make them well. Decor is weird in the inside space, not a very chic look for a rooftop place. The view is okay and service is great!
Ive experienced consistent issues where my ordered gin and tonic turns out to be water, due to apparent mistakes by the bartender. This has happened multiple times, and while the waitstaff is commendable, the bartenders errors are disappointing. When I brought this up to a waiter, they apologized for the bartenders oversights. While I appreciate the waiters response, addressing this matter with the bartender could enhance the overall service quality.

Just great view from the rooftop. We didn’t like the cocktails, we had just ordered basic common cocktails like old fashion/Long Island ice team they couldn’t make them right and another mint julep (didn’t have any kind of whiskey felt like water down)The bar is open till 4 AM but the kitchen was closed at 9 PM so nothing to munch on while you are drinking tasteless cocktailsGuest puked right in front of us but the team wasn’t willing to move us on the other side instead we’re pushing us to a corner table!Overall didn’t enjoy the experience!
Nice atmosphere. Get music. Chill, drink, eat and dance
I booked the table for about twelve people for my friends birthday at 7PM on Friday night. There was long line to get up to the roof even I had a reservation. The space they gave us kind of small for the big group so we have to expand the table after everyone were at the party.Service was nice, our waitress came to out table to check often, security guard is not so good to my friend but because another staff were good so I kind of looked over it.We had so much of drinks and snake. All are pretty good even price is a bit high and they automatically add 20% gratuity to parties of 6 or more. The view was so nice and beautiful. The rooftop is nearby the empire state building and you can enjoy midtown night view. I only like the warm light they put at the beginning of the night because when I take a picture, It comes out good but at late night they put red and blue like and the picture comes out terrible.Overall, my friend and I had such a fun time celebrating her birthday party.
I don’t know every rooftop in NY but this is special because you literally drink a beer making a toast with the Empire State itself, you can dance, have a drink chillin watching face to face this iconic building with an amazing view of the city. The people is nice and the DJs are fire 🔥
Friday evening nothing available for walk-ins and staff was rude
Food and drink were great, if only we were actually served! It took 45 minutes for a waitress to even acknowledge us, by then we had to place drink and food orders at the bar. Later when we ordered a second round our waitress completely forgot us for an hour, until I had to cancel our order and leave. Went to celebrate my bday, left feeling frustrated
They have great drinks and the atmosphere is nice and cozy
I hosted my 35th birthday here earlier this month. Great service the two girls earlier in the night were amazing, great view, and fun music. The only complain I have is that I paid for the Diamond Birthday Package and never got my cupcakes. I was bum because it was my birthday.
Awesome views and delicious drinks! Had a girls night here and we had so much fun. The staff was really nice and our waiter, Sarah, was awesome! Highly recommend
Honestly, not worth the hype.We booked a table in advance as we were guests of the hotel underneath, arrived post dinner for some drinks, and was shown to our table. It’s a little windy up top so we were feeling the chill. We could see heaters dotted around the rooftop, and so asked our server if we could have one. We were told there were none left, so the only option we had was to move inside (defeats the object of being at a rooftop bar, no?), we declined to enjoy the view.Less than 10 mins later, we see a different server come out with another heater and place it towards an empty corner of the seating. We then asked our server if they had one we could use/or could we move that new one to us. Again she said no, that her manager told her there were no heaters for us. Despite us booking weeks in advance and being hotel guests. We eventually, reluctantly, moved inside. It was busy, and very loud, so we could no longer hear our conversations across the table. I popped back out to take some photos of the skyline, and all the heaters were just pointing at parts of the seating areas that were completely empty. The drinks were ok, but expensive. Staff could’ve been better, service was slow. We left after one drink as we couldn’t hear each other.Ended up at Lucy’s which is about 10 min walk away. Cannot recommended more, better drinks, heaters and better music.Don’t bother with monarch.
With its picturesque city view, this spot is perfect for relaxing and catching up with friends
Been coming here for many years because it’s always a vibe. Great spot to start or end your outing to meet friends/colleagues, celebrate an occasion, or take a date. It offers a bit of everything, from low-key lounge vibes with an amazing view of the empire state building, and an exciting dance floor over the night. My expectations are never let down regardless of when I walk in. The service and staff are always friendly and accommodating and respect their regulars. Love this place because they aren’t as pretentious and trying like most other rooftop lounges in the city. Shout out to Glen, Aaron, and of course my man Tony for always ensuring a great time for everyone involved.
Great drinks and location, but lack of waiters? For such a famous rooftop that requires booking and had lines outside, you would think that they would make sure they have enough employee to client ratio to accommodate what is needed for clients to be able to order drinks in a timely manner!
The amount of racism that goes on in this place is mind boggling. I had a terrible experience with this place when it was my friend’s birthday. Another group of my friends (separate occasion) also had a terrible experience as well. The bouncer was first trying to say we couldn’t get in because of a dress code only to tell the manager within ear shot that we“looked like trouble”. And if you scroll down to look at other reviews, you’ll also see that this prejudice nonsense is clearly a thing with them.
