Fat Harolds Beach Club

Fat Harolds has been a beloved spot for my family and me since I was a kid. I have fond memories of doing the shag dance with my family, and now I bring my own children to enjoy the same fun. Its wonderful to see them light up on the dance floor. After 9 PM, the kids head out, and the adults get to continue the evening with great music and dancing. Fat Harolds is a timeless treasure for creating lasting family memories and enjoying a night out. Highly recommend!

This place is the best. My father in law has been coming here since I was born. He passed last year so we celebrated his famous spot in his memorial. The staff was spool nice.

We went to the free shag dance lesson. It would be easy for anyone to follow the simple instructions to get you started on the basic steps. After the lesson, several more advanced dancers were on the floor so you could see what a lot more practice can achieve. There were lots of drink options at the bar.

During the recent Shag Festival I enjoyed Fat Harolds every day. It is my favorite venue for dancing during the festival. Although I did not eat a meal at Fat Harolds this season, last September I enjoyed several meals at Fat Harolds. Im looking forward to the Septembers 10 day festival. 😀💃💃💃

My wife and l went late last year and was disappointed in the experience. After securing a stool for my wife at the stand up bar it seems l may have took a stool another couple had their eye on.It got very chilly very fast after that and felt uncomfortable for the balance of the evening.Very much felt like an outsider at a private function.Will not return.3 stars is for the venue and service.

Wednesday night and we are not locals, but it was awesome! We had a blast watching all the shaggers. Superjock JJ Kinlaw in the house!

We come here most weeks to take shag dancing lessons. If you want to learn shag dancing, this is the place to go!

We paid $35 per person for New Years Eve tickets (an increase of $5 over last year), and this year as in the past many, many years, we did not receive a Champagne toast. Harold Worley, the owner, and the Owner of the O D Resort and owner of the Pavilion and the radio station was so Greedy that he raised the ticket price and cut out the Champagne toast. Most everyone there was very angry about no Champagne. Also the music sucked.

Nothing about this place has changed since the mid 70s. The decor, the drink selection, or the clientele. Not friendly if you arent a regular. Would be perfect for those in their late 60s who want to drink 7 & 7s to forget their troubles.

This place was OK to purchase a nice drink on my vacation, unfortunately when I returned home my card was overcharged and when I called to ask for assistance the woman on the phone offered nothing. She would not even offer the number of the owner or an email address for me to provide my web receipt due to her telling me the charge was not made there yet I see it clear as day. My charge went from $7.75 (with $3 tip, making total $10.75), to $21.50 days after my visit.

Was extremely disappointed after taking my girlfriend on our first vacation to myrtle beach and went to pirates cove where the drinks are served in Dixie cups. I was ready to write myrtle beach off as a disaster before we walked into Fat Harolds. The bartender was awesome. He was extremely nice and personable, even though it was a little slow because it was a thuraday. And served real drinks! A real top notch guy. Didnt catch his name but he had a big beard. I could only wish all bartenders were as awesome and nice as he was!! The bartender makes the bar, this guy is good.

We loved the atmosphere at Fat Harold’s when we visited on 12/29/2021. We did not enjoy the DJ, Jimmy B. He played music that we were not familiar with. I think we even heard a couple of RAP songs. He was also hard to understand and rambled on about nothing. We have heard Jay K on other occasions and he is awesome. He plays tunes we love and are familiar with.

Legendary, being a younger guy, and not being a good dancer little intimidating trying to dance at the Fat Mans house... So many wonderful people there to teach and help you out. As growing up 40mins from there being able to return and pick up right where my childhood stopped. That is a great feeling. Love visiting and dancing. See yall at SOS!!!!!

Best cheeseburger on the beach at good price. If you like beach music you already know about Fat Harolds!

Ive been all over the world and Fat Harolds is THE BEST! Its the staff & Harolds widow that keep his legacy alive. Every, single employee is polite, super friendly, and has always made me feel like family. Its no wonder that the place is always packed with friendly, happy people having fun and so many different things to do on each night. Fat Harolds will be a major reason why I buy a house in North Myrtle Beach & make it my permanent home!

Just had Burgers and Fries here. It was a great place to eat very friendly people. And the bartender was great. The food was good and the patrons were a lot of fun.

Would be 0, upon checking in we were tiled they do not hold ocean seats, they are first come first serve. We could sit at the bar and check back in 15 minutes - fair enough. We had a seat at the bar, ordered two drinks which were served expediticiosly, and waited our 15 minutes. After the 15 minute wait I checked with the hostess again for table availablity and she told me they had checked with me regarding a table and I declined. Didn’t happen!!! As it turns out, the offer for the table was made to the couple next to us and they declined the table. Mistake and mistakes happen…. All was good until “ Bubba” behind the bar decided to get involved - his attire regarding the situation was poor and not required, but he decided to get involved anyway. Long story short, paid the bar tab and left. No idea how the food is, but the customer service is a POS and even in these COVID times this was unacceptable. Admit your mistake and I would have dined at your location, however the attitude of the bartender is unacceptable and needs to be addressed for future customers.

Best burgers in town. Live music, live broadcasts from local radio stations. Eclectic crowd of 50+. Super bartenders, always friendly if they get time to talk.

Love my Shag Club!

We went in because, well I dont know why lol. But the bartender was cool af, and the history of the bar is prominent. There were a lot of regulars who came in, which gave it a homey feel. And to watch the folks dance was a treat. My first Blue Moon with lemon instead of orange!

Incredible place. The Diet Coke was slapping. The music was yeehawing. The staff was friendly and the vibes were right on.

Best burgers on the East Coast hands down. Had a few great dancers also. Lol

Stopped in based on the reviews. Atmosphere was nice but patrons and DJ were rude because we were younger then most every in there. Didnt feel welcome at all. Then when we were leaving the DJ made a snide comment.

STOP! Read my other reviews. I have given out VERY few 5⭐️. This place earned it mostly because of service. V-Mont is THE MAN! We will be back this year and every year. We are telling friends. Perfect beach stopFood and drinks were great

It doesnt get any better than Fat Harolds!!! Wonderful music, terrific dance areas, friendly customers and great work staff. If you dont go to Fat Harolds you havent been to the beach.

This the place for fun,dancing, meeting wonderful people, with great prices on your favorite cold adult beverages!!!!! At OCEAN DRIVE. All the clubs are only a few minutes walk from the OD RESORT.I he to see you there next time!!

Generally had a pretty good time , It was my Birthday & My sons 1st club outting ,he was liking it UNTIL the DJ guy was so Rude to him As my AUTISTIC SON wanted to surprise me ,when my son asked him to say a special Happy Birthday to his me on speaker for whole club to say HBD . And due to that 1 persons rudeness to him I doubt well be back . Im actually ashamed of the DJ worker of this Club . The Bar guy was good and it was appreciated . Cause it took alot for my son to do the Request .

Great experiences both nights that we visited! Bartenders are extremely friendly.

Friendly place but, at least at the front bar, they have the hoses for the fountain gun running through the ice used in drinks. Also they were stocking bottles of beer in it. Not sure how sanitary that is.
