Really glad I came to this place and experienced before when it didnt suck so bad. I dont know how many complaints its going to take for this place to realize how ridiculous their staff is. I wasnt let in because my card was slightly bent and the card reader wouldnt process. I truly thought they were joking when they said that. I got into 3 other bars just fine because they have common sense and know what a legit ID looks like/dont fully rely on a card reader. Another time my friend tripped in heels and we were kicked out even when we were fully responsive and had cut ourselves off hours ago (honestly we came into the bar absolutely drunk and no one bat an eye.) I asked for water once when I was about to get sick and waited forever, didnt say anything. I knew they were overwhelmed but, all you have to do is grab it and hand it to me. My friend mentioned I just needed water and it would take the bartender 1 second. They snapped at us and took even longer on purpose. Your staff is a joke and your business is clearly being effected by it with these low reviews.

Cash only so its obviously a sketchy place, you can tell it causes a lot of problems as there was multiple police officers sitting outside all night. Security will do nothing for the patrons there, and and most people are extremely creepy. Some call it a safe space but its far from that. Id feel safer and less dirty in a strip club run by the cartel or mafia...
This is the most well run gay bar ever. The staff are amazing. This is the cleanest dance club I have ever seen. This is Americas best gay bar.
Always a good time when I go. However I’ve been to other gay clubs in other cities that let you pay for your drinks with Apple/Samsung pay… you should get with the times.
The music is fun but one room was a lot quieter than the other and it didnt fill it.The bartender we had wasnt the friendliest. The lights were amazing though and the one room that had music at the appropriate level was absolutely fantastic.Ive been told this is the number one club in Omaha. It was certainly packed by the time we left. It filled up by 11pm the Saturday night we came to visit.Pro tip: they only accept cash. There is an ATM inside that you can pull cash out of.
Can’t get cup of iced water. Have to pay $3 for a water bottle. One of the bartender said that he got in trouble for providing iced water. I just wanted a cup in my hands and have a “drink”.
Got turned down at the front because I tripped on a curb and was “too drunk”? It was 1am on a weekend. The people in front of me were slurring like crazy and they wouldn’t let me in for “stumbling”. Had two drinks prior to that and they wouldn’t let me into a CLUB.
This is probably the best nightclub in Omaha, but the service has gotten increasingly worse. Most of the front desk staff are rude, unwelcoming, and condescending. Security continuously empties the entire place a half hour before closing, and last week they made everyone stand outside in a downpour while waiting for ubers. I can brush that off, but my final straw was the bartender in the back. I witnessed him straight-up ignore three people of color who were standing at his bar patiently for at least fifteen minutes while continuing to serve the masses of white/ lighter-skinned people next to them. Then he denied it and got extremely defensive when someone called him out (multiple people noticed). Just be mindful of which bartender you give your tips to if you come here. Personally, I don’t support racists. Get rid of the bartender in the back and rotate out the front door staff and this place can be redeemed.Update: this place is TIRED. The same basic songs shuffled on repeat. What happened to good music? Also, the club is crawling with straight men, which kind of defeats the purpose of attracting and having a safe place for an LGBTQ audience. Totally not the vibe that it used to be. Gonna have to travel to another city for better nightlife!
Overpriced, discriminative, not handicapped accessible, unfriendly, unprofessional, CASH ONLY. Overall very disappointing and distasteful. If you would love to have an awful night then The Max is the club for you.I’ve been to this bar a few times despite them having a bad reputation because I had never had a bad experience myself. Until last night. My bestfriend is in town from Oregon and was expecting to have a fun night. We were with a group of 9 other women and one disabled gay man. While we were walking up the the door (12:55 am) their seemingly emasculated security told us they close the doors at 1:00 am and then continued to count down from 20 seconds. After rushing our disabled friend to the doors they then told us that they turn their lights on in 20 minutes and it would be $10/person. While we were between the two sets of door they also took the queue line markers inside (bc they close the doors at 1 right). Our group discussed we didn’t think it would be worth our time or money for 20 minutes and their staff rudely said “where else are you going to go?” and “Throwback’s cover is $20 tonight”. So we decided we would rather go there. Upon us leaving we stopped a few people we knew and told them about the situation to which an actual police officer walked over to us and told us we had to leave. We were literally walking away and they continued to follow us. They also told the 3 men we stopped that they would let them in. The time then was 1:04. Why are you letting people in 4 minutes after you have “closed” your doors? Very weird. Being the smart and sexy people that we are we continued on to Throwback where we were met by a very nice bouncer who kindly told us they not only had no cover but that they’ve never had a $20 cover.Very unprofessional of your staff to not only be rude to a queer disabled person but to also lie and scam your customers. “LGBTQ friendly” but certainly not. Not women friendly. Not queer friendly. Not trans friendly. Really such a shame. Also what’s up with the bald 60+ year old men in underwear two sizes too small for them? Is that a hiring requirement? Must be bald, wear too small underwear and qualify for social security. No wonder drinks take so long to make when the staff can’t move too fast for fear of throwing a hip out. Bouncers included. Bouncer requirements: no one over height of 5’5”, bald, 55+ and must have a piece of food in teeth at all times for dominance.
Entered the bar at about 830 waited 15 min before bartender even asked me if I wanted anything then went upstairs to be in a slightly less loud place and was booted from there because they said it wasnt open to sit there by a rude security guy no one els cared I sat there and chilled so I left. 👎
I felt super uncomfortable and unsafe here. Ive tried this place 3 different times and its all the same outcome. Staff is incredibly rude and uncaring, the place is so packed you can hardly breathe, and the people surrounding my husband and I were ill-mannered. I was even groped at one point. Maybe it has some good nights but overall I personally would not suggest going here, for safety purposes.
They do last call at 1:30am and let everyone order a drink only to aggressively kick you out at 1:35. They were shouting and herding us like cattle to the front door, not a great end to an otherwise fun night. Also they should have gender neutral bathrooms at a gay club, PERIOD.
Honestly, vibes would have been better if they played newer music. And queer artists at that. Are the DJs lazy of what?
Awesome club in Omaha. Though its a gay club, everyone will find a place to have fun. Keep in mind that theres entry of $5/10 depending on crowd and time and they only take cash. The place is huge, has multiple dance floors. Parking can be an issue over here once it gets crowded. But dont worry if you see long queue, it moves faster. Your id proof is needed to enter this bar probably for age limit. Music is good in all dance floors and drinks too. For someone looking for partying all night ( till 2am) with friends, lovers or solo, this place can be the spot.
Best night club you can get around, but.......2nd Feb 2024, Fewer and fewer blonde and blue eyes beauty, more and more dark uglies. Music is getting from mediocre and tasteless to ugly and annoying style.Too much mediocre Latino music, short of taste and style. Need a bit back to classic Trance/techno.An idiotic, inexperience DJ lighting control person used too much bright/white light in the dance floor. So it is a DAYclub not Nightclub.People come to this place to have fun with a bit of privacy and fantacy and intimacy. The too often Bright/white light sparking (bright/dark high contrast switch)control makes very uncomfortable to peopels eys sitting on the other side of wall. The bright/white light was just like someone comes into a bedroom turning on the light when two people in the bed are just about to have intimacy play. The bright/white lighting lights up the dance floor and everyones face is recognizable and lots of ugly animal stunned faces can be seen. THEN.... the fantancy is gone, and comes the reality!
In my experience, the current Miss Max– alongside the others judging (minus one) their karaoke competition– acted like middle school bullies. As the youngest contestant by nearly a decade, they couldnt be bothered to look at me once from the moment it was my turn. Instead they obnoxiously joked and talked amongst each other then called the bartender over for more drinks. When I confronted them on this (which was quite difficult as a petite 22-YO woman who had just suffered a panic attack in the bathroom due to two severe anxiety disorders), they guffawed as I walked away. These men were nearly twice my age but acted like half of it. That doesnt even touch on my experiences with the security over my several visits. I once had a security guard demand to see that I was in fact peeing because I had two friends in the stall, so they had to open the stall to show the entirety of the bathroom my vagina. Generally, security has been rude and unwelcoming to me as a femme lesbian compared to men and more masc presenting customers. If youre a femme sapphic, Id recommend going back to straight bars and enduring the sexual harassment because being told I can be fd straight and not being able to interact with the community on a regular occurrence is still better than the way The Max makes you feel.
Worst place ever. Ya its pretty. But they still play music from 2008. And the staff is rude. The owner is really nice. He needs to hire all new bar staff and new DJs. The old ones are tired and burnt out. Which is causing the club to be drab and tired. It needs freshed up and Id say fire everyone and hire all new and younger staff with fresh new vibes.
Staff is very targeting towards poc, trans people, and women. And ownership does nothing about it. In fact, they block and mock those that call them out. Not to mention it is hardly a gay bar anymore, absolutely crawling with rude straight people who are more protected than queer patrons. You will not feel welcome or even safe here, save your money and peace. At least until they make public acknowledgements and changes.
Very nice music, they dont have a pool table anymore but really nice atmosphere, amazing bartender and drinks are good.
Heard it was nice, but if you’re from out of town, with a VALID/LEGAL ID, they will turn you away at the door. 3 different people decided a valid drivers license, from out of state, wasn’t good enough to get in the door. Very disappointing. Also- while I appreciate the security, 6+ security people/officers at the door does not lend itself to a feeling of safety. More anxiety inducing than anything else. Rethink where you spend more money and go to a place that knows how to welcome ALL people. Not just natives to Nebraska.
Came here for my birthday and said they had a dance floor when we got there they took our money and didn’t tell us there was a show until after the fact we paid and didn’t know how long it would’ve been so we left without our money to the place across the street called throwback arcade which was way better than here. The staff were rude and the drag queens were a bit rude as well.
Absolutely fantastic atmosphere and friendly staff! Super fun experience even if just for a few minutes! Amazing drinks and just all around a great time, I’m definitely taking ALL my friends here and coming here on all my days off!!
Me and my 25 person party bus. Had an issue with the security guard feelings, and wouldnt allow half of us in. 1 of our members got in, had one a drink and left after 5 mins. They were feeling nauseous and started puking immediately after. First drink of the night and they couldnt remember anything. We think they were drugged. Be careful of these type of clubs.
Due to multiple years of public community neglect has recently resulted in an exodus of drag related entertainment leaving the bar & multiple queer individuals sharing their experiences of racism, prejudice, and bar malpractice. Enough stories have come out that an official call to action was drafted that was sent directly to the maxs management that resulted in no real change to better the community. Not even a Facebook post. What it did result in was the queer community seemingly being divided as they dangled promises of shows in front of performers, and split the community in half causing a feud within itself as a vain attempt to deflect heat. The max has further gone backwards and is actively blocking people who have held them accountable on multiple social media platforms.
For a gay club, no, for any club in general, the music is horrible. If you want to listen to party rock anthem 20+ times in one night, you’ll have a fun time.
I really like the max but this one incident made me question their security and hospitality. A bar tender yelled and threatened to kick me out for pushing away an unclaimed plastic bag at the bar. It is a security threat to have unclaimed bags sitting around a crowded club because you never know what could be inside it- drugs, guns, bombs, etc. I suggest the Max have ongoing security training for all their employees because it’s everyone’s responsibility to look out for security threats and report/eliminate them. No one ever thinks they’ll be victim until it’s too late.
Have always loved coming here, but this last Saturday night (1/19) was probably our last visit. Our first stop was the bar straight down from the front doors, right in front of the doors to the smoking patio. The bartender at this bar was HORRIBLE! I work in customer service, as does the entire group I was with and he was easily the worst service individual we have ever encountered. A member of our group ordered a few shots for the group and a drink for themselves. He told him the total, he paid, then the bartender put the shots up and moved on to the next person. Our group member asked about his drink and the bartender completely ignored him. Multiple members of our group began asking where his drink was and continued to ignore us all. He then copped a major attitude and said that he hadnt ordered or paid for a drink, just the shots. Another patron next to our group had the exact same situation while we were there as well. I think management or ownership needs to step in here, because you have staff members literally stealing money from your patrons. Your cash only policy ensures this is easy for your staff and that there is no paper trail. Will probably not be back.
Had a lot of fun. Although when I came back after leaving for only 10 mins, because I had lost my ID between the front door & back bar, they would not let me in or let me do a quick check of the floor for my ID. Make sure you bring cash, as they do not accept cards, and we had to pay a cover charge as well (we didnt expect it to be cash only). Bouncers were very rude, but inside staff were nice. Not getting back ID subsequently ended our girls night, as I could no longer get in anywhere. Disappointing. Overall Id say its fun to experience once, but definitely not twice.
I am here from Florida visiting family and came to watch Giselle Jacobs perform. This place is huge. Beautiful establishment, wonderful people and the service was friendly and fast. The performers were incredible! Cash only so hit their convenient ATM if you forget beforehand.
WHY ARENT THERE MORE BARS LIKE THIS?! This place is enormous with several small bar areas within one large complex. Theres a huge dance bar that places true dance music (Disco Divas, if you will). Theres an outdoor bar/patio (but it can get heavy with smoke at certain times). Theres a traditional bar in the center, a large rectangle with seating all around. There are pool tables upstairs, and then there is a secondary bar that was hosting a drag show on the night we visited, though it does not always have drag. And what a show it was! The Omaha Queens are remarkable, true entertainers who are interested in putting on an incredible show. Though it threw us a little bit at first to see males in male get up lip-synching and performing to songs like Britney Spears, they were also fantastic. One male performer started on the bar and then did a FLIP off the bar and rolled down the aisle. Ive NEVER seen that before at any bar! Hats off to the Omaha entertainers! Also, the customers were incredibly friendly. Too often, bars like the Max can have a very local crowd that dont respond well to visitors. That was not the case here. If youre in Omaha, go to this bar!
We have problems every time we come here. They often kick us out for being too drunk when we had cut ourselves off hours before, the reasoning being she stumbled. Staff at the front is incredibly rude every single time. Came for Saint patricks day and was turned away because my licence expired 9 days earlier on my birthday. Honestly this used to be our favorite spot but the staff has ruined it
This place has fallen off over time. DJ playlist is the exact same every weekend. No free tap water which should be illegal. Police presence is heavy to the point of being uncomfortable. The space itself is nice, employees are nice, I just think management needs to work on refreshing things.
I love The Max. Its got just the right night club atmosphere. However, it is known worldwide that night clubs go on until at least 4 AM. This place closes at 1:30 AM.. I guess this is what happens when boomers run a night club.
This is the first negative review Ive ever left any establishment. We had a group of 10 wait in the 45 min Saturday night line no problem. Midway through the line a female member of our group had to use the restroom so her and her husband left the line to seek a restroom for her to use. They rejoined the group five minutes from the door and upon trying to enter were informed that they were not allowed to enter since they had cut the line. We informed the door man that they had been in the line from the beginning and simply left for her to use the restroom and came immediately back, not to mention the eight other members of the group staying in line. The bouncers would not even listen and simply refused them entry. Needless to say our group of ten did not enter and went on with our night. Again, this is the first negative review I have ever left. The arrogance and refusal to listen from the bouncers regarding our female friends need to use the restroom in the 45 min line was absolutely ridiculous and points to further issues mentioned in other reviews regarding the staff. Not planning on going back but if we do well just piss on the wall.
By far the worst service we have ever received at any bar or restaurant. The bartender working the main center bar (older lady, short gray hair, glasses) was so rude. I ordered two drinks and she screamed at me to go get cash at the ATM and said that I was wasting her time. I told her there is no need to yell or argue with customers. I went to the ATM right by the center bar and came back and she ignored me and then told me to go to a different bartender. I have never been treated this way at any business. I would not recommend this place. They do not care about their customers.
The only thing keeping the experience from being unforgettably terrible was the crowd and their insisitance on having fun in spite of the bad music and unnecessarily rude/slow bartenders.I almost walked out when they played Sweet Caroline on the arena floor. Are you kidding me? Almost walked out again when the music looped. Get these wedding DJs out of here or sell the club to someone who actually cares.
Broken glass in peoples drinks. Patrons are the worst type of gays. Your money is better spent at Tavern, Flixx, or Omaha Mining Company.
Love this place. Went with my gay brother and some friends. Lots of beautiful people here. Big club with lots of different areas. The drinks were reasonable. The staff have a dry sense of humor which not all people might appreciate. A huge tv screen with half naked men was very distracting. Lol. I’m a female and it was kind of awkward but I couldn’t stop looking at it. Would definitely come back to this place though. Reminded me of my younger years in Hollywood.
This establishment is an embarrassment to night life and entertainment. We showed up at 11:15pm for our close friends birthday and they said they are at full capacity and not letting anyone in even when a lot of people were coming out. This establishment doesn’t even accept credit cards as well, this place needs new management and some common sense on how to run a business. I don’t know why I can’t give this place 0 stars. My friends who were in the club already said that the establishment wasn’t even filled. I felt bad for people whose friends came early and were inside and all of their friends who came 3 hours before closing were told they can’t get in.
They say its not up to the bartender anymore if you are banned that a LIE from the Anthony the manager told me that im because it was a message between me and Adam a bartender by Facebook messenger over 1 year yes 1 year before that I loved it there but all they want was my money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I unfortunately was kicked out of this bar for choking on a drink. I apologized to the bartender by the name Zach several times. And he refused to accept my apology instead he had security escort me out. I told them that my phone was dead and I was not from omaha but they refused to help me. I walked 4 miles home in 25 degree weather. I didnt have adequate clothes on to make the walk either. Fortunately I made it home at 130 and I filed a police report against the officers they had at the door. But they kicked me out at 1045. This place is disgusting and I will be having them pull the camera footage as proof that all I did was choke on a drink. Being one of the only black males in attendance at the bar I feel like I was harrased and the officers also harrased me by pretending to chase me. I think that is wrong and I will make sure I do everything in my power to bring justice against this corrupt bar! I will also be filing a report to the bbb so they can be investigated because they refuse to give the full name of their employer Bryan and because I dont believe their business is being ran legally. There is a reason they are cash only
Horrible service, decided to close the club early for no reason, misgendered one of my friends after almost forcing security on us for waiting for an uber. I have seen somebody get drugged more often than not. If you want a drink, better off going to the gas station and having fun at home
Can y’all please get a DJ that’s good and let’s the songs play! Right when a good song comes on it’s cut to play something you can’t even dance to. Also please turn on the AC it’s waaayyyy to hit in there I love this bar but typically pass on it because I last 5 min I there before my makeup is sweating off my face and my hair is all messed up.
My experience at this place has been one of pleasure. This place is famous for its amazing dance floors and its gorgeous performers. It is one of my favorite places and definitely one of the best LGBTQ clubs I have ever been too. It is organized, clean, and efficient. Drinks are expensive, but that is the price you pay for such a wonderful site. Do not doubt: go.
Its the best club in Omaha. Usually pretty packed on Friday and Saturday, but doesnt really fill up until later in the night. The room/dance floor on the left always has something, different, going on. Not really sure what the deal is because its never filled. Also the DJ could use some help, but does really well for the most part. Just needs occasional reminding that hes playing for people who came to drink and dance. The back patio is nice and there are plenty of bars (3! Count them! 3!!). Its your typical gay club but straight females and their predators seemed to have infiltrated to some extent. Either way, its usually a good time out here.
For how large the club is, the bathrooms seem to be shrunken to 60% scale so that its impossible to not brush past other patrons. I honestly think it was designed this way to create a sleazy cruising type atmosphere as thats exactly what it was like. Lots of sleazy guys with hungry eyes hoping to look at someones genitals with or without their consent. The vibe just wasnt very cool or current. Not carefully curated.I agree with another reviewer it, it really disrupts the experience when the bright daylight lights come on on the dancefloor. I mean Ive never seen that before--its really a very odd lighting choice for a nightclub? Eviscerates the fantasy in a moment.
I am so glad I heard about the Max. One of the best clubs Ive ever been to. Everyone Ive taken there has had a really good time. Fridays and Saturdays are always packed. The max routinely has cool events and shows. Crazy that this club is in Omaha. An LGBTQ club that anyone can have an incredible time at.
Can we change the playlist? Why is it the same music every weekend? It use to be good before now its just super boring to go and hear the same music. Im pretty sure out of the million songs out there, it can change.
Back in my 20’s I used to love going to the Max when I was out with friends. And then I got married, had a baby, and Covid happened. So after 5 years I came back with my husband on Saturday night to dance and have a good night out, but it wasn’t. We didn’t have enough cash for the entry fee so my husband had to use the ATM and they held my ID at the front, when we returned for it within minutes, they had given my drivers license to someone else. So then we sat in the lobby for an hour while they searched for who they gave it to. They did eventually find it but we just immediately left due to the stressful situation and paid the entry fee and didn’t even get to experience the bar again, what a nightmare. I will not be coming back here and I am only left with a negative experience now.
The music was bumpin’, the people were cool, and the drinks were mixed perfectly! The building itself is maintained perfectly and if things start to get a bit much for you, the outside smoking area out back is chill enough to cool anyone down. If you’re LGBTQ+ who’s looking to be social or just an Ally who likes to party, I highly recommend this bar!
At first they said my friend was stealing bottles. Then changed their story when I asked them again and said he was throwing bottles at the bar tender. With many witnesses saying that never happened. I asked to see the cameras which they said worked but then refused to show us any evidence of what happened. They threatened to drag me out for asking simple questions about what happened and wouldnt refund the the drinks that I had already paid for or let me finish the drinks I had just bought(straight cracking) If my friend was too drunk they could have said so instead of lying about what he had done. The cowardly short bald security guard couldnt even look me in the eyes and refused to give me his name when I asked about the situation. Some dude tried to sell me meth and when I told security about it well before any of that happened about it they said they couldnt single him out due to lack of evidence . But had no problem singling me out when I hadnt been with my group for quite some time when I had done nothing wrong, accusing me of guilt by association . Straight up clowns
I miss the strip shows ! Corona needs to end, this place offers a variety of dance floors. The drinks are nice & strong just the way they need to be.I love the LGBTQRS community !!There is a cover, so bring cash for that $5-$10 Idr.
Club is quality but their policy of charging $3 for water (and only accepting cash for this water) is irresponsible. Multiple bartenders told me that bottled water was the only option and that nothing else could be given. I’ve not experienced any other bar in Omaha or elsewhere that refuses to provide patrons with tap water. I highly suggest that management revisits this policy in the interest of patron safety.
Always friendly staff, great prices, great times. A staple of Omaha nightlife and a pillar of the LGBTQ+ community. Has 2 dance floors: hip-hop/R&B and pop/disco. Go here for a guaranteed fun night!
Oh goodness, where do I start? So it was my friends birthday and we get in fine, but then my 24 year old friend gets his ID scanned by their ID scanner (which is probably some Chinese scam from Amazon) and they say it is fake. This is simply just not true, it is a real ID. When asked to run it again, they say they ran it twice and their system didnt pass it. Then the bouncers get all mocho big tuff guy attitudes and send THREE guys to kick him out, which we follow in suit. When asked what about his ID is fake, they only responded with our system failed the ID. Like okay, so you, with your eyeballs and brain cant look at it and pass it? We even asked the cops standing outside to take a look at it because my friend was concerned there was something wrong with it. Both cops said it was real. Overall, I think our experience just reflects EXTREMELY POORLY on the Max. It is hard to believe that his real ID was the reason we werent let in, in all honesty it was probably something to do with our group. To put the cherry on top, a group of girls who were celebrating their friends 21st birthday were not let in because of her paper ID which has been stated by the state government and DMV to be legal mind you, just ridiculous. Thanks for ruining peoples nights.
DJ won’t play Brat
Who knew a club could be so fun in Omaha, Nebraska. I’ve been to a lot of clubs. And this would have to be on my top list of gay clubs; however, expect it to be mixed straight and gay. The lighting, music variety, and different dance rooms set this place apart. The venue itself is modern and setup well. The only dislike was that the bartenders were inattentive and there needs to be more of them. Oh and there are too many drunk white girls who can’t keep their composure.
Always loved the place until one night the bar supervisor lady was super rude to my bf and myself for no reason. She kept helping other people and told us to go to another bar. Our friends who came after us tried to buy us a drink and she wouldnt let them. We went to another of their 5 bars and the bartender was super nice. I havent been there since the night.
Its the only club of its type in Omaha from my experience, so youre stuck with it. The line looks long but it moves pretty quickly. Would have been 5 stars but its cash only for everything, which is incredibly inconvenient in my opinion.
I haven’t been to the max in over a year Bc of covid. I came out and they had a mask handout. But no one was wearing them. Only the employees. During a pandemic, when we still have a mask mandate , I feel if you’re going to go out , everyone should at least wear a mask.I’ve seen 2 people throw up. One was in front of the owner and he didn’t have anyone clean up the mess. I literally saw people walking around and dancing in it. Lastly, I would’ve thought with all the music that has been coming out, they would make better playlists . But literally still playing yeah by usher and missy elliott work it. Then a random cardi b / Beyoncé mix. Please. PLEASE, can we get new music. Like we the people, need new good music to dance to. The veterans , and the new people who come in, the community deserves it. You can’t be americas best gay club still using the same playlist from 2003 with random cardi b, Megan, and a few Britney song and think that’ll be ok.
Excellent club all around that comes highly rated by The New York Times. Looks like something youd find in a big city on the West Coast. Several sections (lounge, two dance areas - electronic & hip-hop, outdoor patio, etc.) for what suits your fancy. Nice bevy of drinks. Amusingly, youll read reviews that call this a rather straight gay club, based on the mix of people on some nights. I just see it as something for everyone. As others have noted, I kept thinking: We have this in Nebraska?!
Probably the best nightclub in Omaha. It can be fun for a straight guy, but be aware that it is technically a gay bar. The bar only accepts cash. Large dance floor and good music. Pretty women always seem to be here.
I had an overall good time but the bartenders weren’t very pleasant. One of them served a girl that had just walked up to the bar before me although I had been standing there for 10 minuets trying to get a drink. The girl insisted I go first but the bartender made her order before me. Was very bizarre. Then when I ordered for two people who were with me he snapped at me and said I wasn’t allowed to order for other people. Although we were all paying together. Very strange he wasn’t professional or friendly at all.
Burned drinks, same music everytime you go in-- LMFAO, then Gaga, then Britney, then Bruno Mars, repeat. Im pretty sure they just play a party compilation disc over and over. Spent way too much money on lighting effects and ZERO on music. There are drunken fights from time to time. Ive watched a number of people puke, even once saw a guy puke and fall in it with a drag queens costume accessory. Lol, the Max is a hit mess in a train wreck in a dumpster fire.
Awesome staff, cool atmosphere. Ive heard the events here are great but have not been able to attend one. While Saturdays are straight night, I went on a Friday and there was a great mix of folks there still.
Very long LINE at Midnight. The police on duty told me it would take 40 minutes to get into the club. I did not wait in line. Crowd looked very young and mostly straight looking girls.
This is a good and only place to go out in Omaha. The nightlife scene being what it is, this is about your only decent option. On Saturdays, expect the place to be mostly full of bachelor and wedding parties (straight) and otherwise hetero crowd. Like most cities in America, online hook up apps have killed the gay bar scene. Too bad...
Wow! We had so much fun dancing here. 💃🏼Also, I lost my wallet and they were SOOO kind! They held it overnight and I picked it up the next day. The nicest people ever. 10 stars if I could.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. It says they close at 2am but we arrived at 11pm and told us next time we should arrive earlier. How embarrassing they were super rude too. They said they were at full capacity yet when groups of people come out they still wouldn’t let people in. Our friends inside said that the club wasn’t even packed. We went one weekend and there was literally only10 people so I can’t imagine this venue with this management fill the establishment.
Just a great place to let loose, dance, and party in a judgement free zone. There are multiple bars with different music vibes and an outdoor patio. Pro tip - bring cash. There is a cover on Saturdays. The only downfall to this bar is that the entrance and bar lines can get long. That said, I cant blame the crowd for wanting to be here. :)
If you are looking for a true club, this is it! This place can hold its place amongst the best in the nation. LGBT friendly but all feel welcome! Come dance, have fun, and never feel unsafe! BRING CASH they do not take cards.
Its a fun place if you leave before it gets too late. By one am there are usually drunk people falling into me and in one instance a guy almost knocked my friend over on the dancefloor by just running into her and not even acknowledging it. There were mysterious pills all over the floor and the bathrooms were DESTROYED by the time we left. The drinks arent great and neither is the music. The lights and dancefloor are impressive though.
I love the Max. Been going there for years and always have a great time. However, my complaint is the same complaint every person tells me: they never ever change the music. Its the same music as 10 years ago. Ive told the owner and told the dj but nothing seems to change. All they need is to train the dj or else have guest djs. Then people would enjoy it more. While the dj is rocking out to his favorite tune, everyone on the dance floor is checking their phone. All my friends have said the exact same thing. Hopefully they listen before they have to shut their doors.
Stopped by for literally three seconds, just to see the atmosphere and find have a little warm conversation since I’ve been on a bus for the last 26 hours. Before I could get two words out, I was given a dirty look and was told to leave because I forgot my wallet on the other side of the country. I understand doing your job, but I also understand doing your job with some actually hospitality. That is what you get paid for.
Have had some staff issues , but overall always a great time, wish it was an +male only+ club. Fun dancing music two dance floors and so much more! But seriously see it for yourself, its mostly a nightclub and not really a gay club
Always fun to dance there, but service is slow and bartenders are often drunk in my experience . If youre there past 1, people get rowdy, drinks get spilled on you, and it takes 10 mins just to get a bartenders attention.
This is one of the best Clubs in Omaha. It has two dance floors and a patio. Its pretty crowded on Saturday. Entrance is $5 and reasonably priced drinks.
This is not a safe space for guests, LGBTQ+ community members, or employees.Hostile management has created an environment so bad police are a regular presence here. Take your fun night out elsewhere.
The best club in the city! They have two dance floors, one more hip-hop, the other more stylised to electronic dance music. Make sure you wear something light though as it gets very hot.
I used to love going to this club, until my last visit and I will never go back. I was in the club for over an hour with my friends. Then we got our hands stamped so we check out some other bars, then return to the club. The stamp was a small thin red circle with a thin line in the middle. Upon our return they staff let my two friends in, but told me I had to pay because most on my stamp had been rubbed off my skin. Then the staff proceeds to tell me they dont liked to be tricked. They tricked themselves because other clubs downtown have stamps that actually say their business name and is big and distinguishable.
The bartender broke two glasses over the ice and proceeded to make drinks. When we told a bartender and asked for our drinks to be remade we were told to prove there was glass in our drinks and told to not worry about it. We told a second bartender who said hed remake them this time but if we have a problem with the drinks were to go to the same bartender that made them. Like wed go back to the same bar for more glass in our drinks? Thankfully that bartender did tell someone else who promptly went upstairs to talk check the situation. No telling if the glass was cleaned out of the ice bin.
The layout of the bar is super cool but the bartenders there are TERRIBLE. They seem to serve male customers and ignore female customers. The bartenders were also super intoxicated and sloppy, and lastly they over pour by a ridiculous amount.
Staff is great, people are grat, intelligent lighting is perfect! My only suggestion, please look for DJS that stay up to date with the music. Often times I see folks all dancing, then this one song comes on and then everyone leaves the dance floor. Keep the momentum with the music!
Horrible customer service. rude bartenders, rude cocktail servers, and awful management. the snorting of coke off the back of the toilets in the bathroom was very distasteful. the bar is a run down outdated dump in a serious need of a make over/face lift. it is almost as run down as the run.
They declined my ID for no reason and made me feel embarressed and be littled for my accent because they didnt understand my date of birth when i tried to tell them. They only let asked me once and they didnt understand me. This is the first time this has happened to me in this place...I am so dissapointed.
I’m not from around here and Jimmy made me feel like I was one of the regulars. Definitely should be on your list of stops. Go to The Max you will feel welcomed.
We’ve been waiting since 9:00 to get in and it’s 11:30 and this is bullsh!t!!! The bouncers are liars because they said we would get let in after a large group of people left because they unsafely let too many people in… bull.
I wish that this place accepted cards instead of just cash. It would make it so much easier for people to get their drinks more efficiently. Also, why they only have one bar tender for each bar on New Years Eve I would not understand.
Best place to dance in Omaha. Gay or straight, doesnt matter, just bring your dancing shoes. Theres a $10 cover on Saturdays after 9ish PM, so come prepared with cash.
Extremely sexist establishment.Only will not let women in for leaving the line for a moment to use the bathroom- has not problem letting in men for doing the same. Do not patronize this place if you care about women!
The staff at the door welcomed us warmly and the before midnight crowd was AWSOME! After midnight it got a lil busy for me but still had a great time and defiantly will recommend for all who visit the Omaha area freinds, family and co-workers alike :D
For years, The Max was just a place to dance the night away -- it has two large dance rooms, five bars, an outdoor patio with a fountain, and a quieter upstairs lounge with pool tables. More recently, theyve added weekday activities like karaoke nights, trivia nights, and television viewing for things like Drag Race. Theres also free WiFi.
I met my husband Richie of 28 years. Be4 we lost are fight with cancer and he passed away in December 1St 2012.I love and miss you so so very very much my sweet Richie. hugs&kisses happy new years everyone may you all have a very good&safe year God bless you all
This bar has a lot races fights and the bouncers let anyone in regardless if they look like they are looking for trouble. About 5wks ago this trashed trailer park guy was so drunk threw a glass drink into the glass door and shattered it. There is really no protection there
This is a nice bar. Good prices great drinks and good crowd. They could use a new DJ however, they constantly play the same music and they very rarely can play request.
3 stars because it is definitely the coolest club in Omaha but not 5 because the music here is ALWAYS sub par/borderline garbage.. If they could get better music and live DJs here, it would be awesome!
Only dance bar in omaha that has some atmosphere. But get your unexpired id with you, entry is very strict
First club I’ve ever been to with NO Re-entry would of been nice to know before paying the cover.Bartenders were understaff only having 2 at each station. Waited 20+ minutes to get served.
The 60 year old bouncer told me I pushed him when i literally stepped up to pass my Id. Told me I clouldnt enter when I literally didn’t not touch this man anyway went to the captial district had a way batter time!
1st time being here and I cant thank you enough for the great drinks, amazing staff and good vibes through the whole place.. definitely will be back soon
Visiting from another state, one they dont take credit cards or debit cards.....this is 2020😐, two you walk in an pay but get nothing for admission so if you leave and renter you repay... and that old bartender needs to retire he’s so ruude.
It was alot of fun. Staff were friendly. Only problem I had was I felt the music the dj was playing had the same playlist playing over and over. It was starting to get annoying.
Only accepts cash, over expensive, and repetitive music. It’s beautiful sure and it can be fun with the right people but paying to get in for something that’s always the same… not worth it.
Best experience ever!!. Great atmosphere and everyone just have a good time. I would go here again if I had someone to go with. Who wants to go?
Large and empty. Cash only for everything, no in/out privileges. Pay to enter an empty club where you can pay again to use the ATM.Unfriendly geriatric staff.
My favorite place in all of Omaha!! Amazing staff ❤ shows, djs and dancefloors that make for an awesome night!
I love the Max. Luke and Adam are my fav bartenders. So kind and welcoming
I wanna say that I love seeing the face of mark and la reta 🥰😍
Great environment, owners are amazing as well as the staff. Everyone is welcome here and this is the most amazing club in Omaha.
Love the atmosphere, and the place. Would definitely come back when Im back in Omaha!!! Thanks Dillon for being such a great bartender!!!
Best dirty martini and best vibes you’ll get in Omaha!
Ehhhhhh….Took way to long to get in…process and people working the desk….need “updated” if ya know what I mean….
Was closed when we got there but said they were open online.
Its a joke. 3 screw drivers and Im kicked out...thought you went to have fun and drink, guess not...never again
One of the coolest nightlife spots in Omaha. Multiple levels and types of music, awesome patio area.
I’ve traveled the country… Club owners should stop here before opening a club… Clean immaculate, well done…
The best club in Omaha to visit. Great music, great lighting and great cocktails.
Really nice nightclub! Highly recommend for those who want to party or be entertained.
I live in Tampa and judging by the photos, we dont have any place like The Max. Im living in the wrong city. And I cant afford to move. Yet.
The max is not the place to be,the bar tenders were rude and the manager had nothing to say! Paid 10.00 to get in and it sucked!
Doesn’t really follow any COVID restrictions and it’s not COVID safe but loved the customer service!
Gay and fun! Put on your dancing shoes or get ready to share in great conversation outside on the patio!
This is the best dance bar in the Midwest. Great dancing, music, drinks specials and entertainment.
The Max was the best bar I have been in. Its well managed and well worth the visit
I have been here many times and have never had a bad experience the staff is always friendly, cook to serve you , and overall atmosphere is fantastic
Very nice place, everyone is so nice ! Great prices on drinks , entertainment ! I had a great time !
It’s one of the best club in Old market Omaha.
Love the big dance floors, lights, and when they play Spanish music 🎶
Im to old to be inside where its happening but my phone call was answered in timely manner and a knowledgeable young person with great personable skills was informative and direct to answer my questions before I even asked them. Thanks...rock on !
Very fun place, feels safe and friendly. Great and unique people every time
Awesome place!! Had a variety of music and dancing !! Definitely will be going again!!!
Awesome place to meet new people. Clean environment . And being gay you can always be yourself.
I had so much fun. I like the different rooms with different music and the pool area!
So hip. So clean. So flawless. So NYC in Omaha. A must destination when partying in the Big O!
Most beautiful bar in Omaha... always a good time!
Greatest club you will find in the Midwest. Rivals even some of biggest youll find in the US.
Oh how I have missed you Maxx! 17 years away and I feel like a kid again in this place!!
RUDEST Staff in town!!!! They think that because they are a big club they can treat people like they dont matter, over priced ****hole
They are so nice and inviting plus so much to do and a great atmosphere.
Best dance pub I have ever been
Always pleasant and great service.friendly awesome bartender Anthony.
Best place to dance in Omaha! You have to go!
Fun place to dance. High energy :)
Theres always broken glass and dog crap in front of the building. Cant even get near the door.
I love this place me being single is the best times of my life love it 😁
The best gay club Ive been to hands down!
The Max is everything a bar should be and so much more
Worst service provided by the one gay bartender he was very RUDE..... I wish I knew his name.
0 stars for the owner. Not a very good experience

Great place
Amazing Staff!!!!!!!!
Horrible, we were waiting in line for 90 minutes at -15°C, many people left because they couldnt stand it, the guards inside were drinking coffee and making fun of us. We had to do the New Years count on the street because we couldnt get in, the place wasnt so full as to not let people pass. And at the exit the guards were very racist, it is evident that I am Mexican and they said mockingly and in a sarcastic tone: Tequila, tequila
Discrimination because Im Latina, they took me out, I was waiting for a drink and they came to take me out, its not okay.
Good place. To have a beer. Monday to Thursday. ...only 1 dollar
Lots of dancing and selfies
The best place to have fun
