This gym will be enough for people who want the essentials from their gym membership. Staff is friendly and are willing to assist if you need help. With there being limited gyms in the downtown area, this was one of my main appeals and I believe a major factor for many of the current gym goers. They have enough machines and equipment to do most exercises. Some areas of change, which will hopefully be addressed when they complete the new gym across the street are as followed:1. Fixing broken machines in a timely manner2. Overall cleanliness of the locker rooms3. Considering slightly more affordable pricingOverall, solid experience that merits 4 stars.

If I could give 0 I would. I am convinced the positive reviews of this “gym” are only because they give you a free t-shirt for leaving a review. If you enjoy your workout being ruined because half the machines/equipment you want to use is being taken up by people on their phones and the other half has been broken for weeks/months, then this is the place for you! The cleanliness of the place is questionable at best (steer clear of the showers/steam room) and most of the workers are very unfriendly. The place is a dump and it seems they are no longer making repairs to it due to the “new location” they’ve been talking about for a few years taking up any additional funds.Do yourself a favor and go to a Planet Fitness. I guarantee it will be cheaper and a better experience.

Please make things right and reduce membership fees for those who use this facility.Ive been a regular at Midtown Genesis for the past two years and Im reaching my limit. The air conditioning isnt working properly again this summer…the gym equipment and water fountains are broken more often than not. As others have mentioned the locker rooms are FAR from hygienic. The staff is friendly, but management does not take ownership over these issues, which are basic necessities that almost any other gym provides. Frustratingly, management excuses the poor conditions by reminding us that they lease not own the building, and that they are in the process of moving the gym to a new location. Despite this, Midtown Genesis still charges $59/month for a 12-month membership. If we arent getting a clean, functional, and safe gym, we should NOT have to pay this much for our membership. If these issues are truly beyond the companys control, why not take ownership and lower our membership costs? Overcharging customers for a subpar facility month after month, year after year, has forced loyal customers to cancel their memberships. Unfortunately, I am in a similar position and may have to do the same if things dont change quick.

My wife & I have been going to this convenient location 3-4 times / week for 8+ years. In addition to using the weight and cardio equipment (alone and working with a personal trainer), we’ve enjoyed the yoga and spin classes. The staff has been pleasant & helpful; class instructors have generally been quite good. This leased location has been open for about 15 years and is showing its age a bit. Genesis will relocate to a larger space (the old block-long Alamo theater) across Farnam that it bought and is converting into a new facility, perhaps by year end. It will be great to have a big, new gym with classes in this neighborhood. Until then, this works well for us

First off I do NOT want to blame any of the staff for the below issues. I believe this is a corporate issue, not a local staff issue. The staff is always helpful and willing to go the extra mile, but can only do what their corporate office allows. The gym on the other hand has a few very big issues.1. The air conditioning has been out for almost a month!2. The vents in the wet area in the locker room are not working, for several months. Allowing mold to grow on the ceiling.3. Walls half painted on the floor.

CUSTOMER SERVICE- from mangement . Ive been a member of genesis healthclub for a while and within the last yr decided to make the Midtown location my home since it was close to home. This past weekend I had the worst experience at there location after referring a new potential member and the encounter with the manager Benjamin. He kept this person for a 1.5 hour talking to her then at the end of the conversation tried to sale her a 7day pass when she just wanted to try it out as she was new to the Omaha area. I tried to gain an understanding of the process as I under the assumption it was free and in turn recievedunprofessional, unexperienced manager who laughed at the concerns brought forth and lied that theyre was no one higher than he. The If this is who is leading this facility and the staff at this location, is leading staff to running an unsuccesful , unprofessiomal gym. Ill be reconsidering a new location or a new gym. The gym overall is not bad its just the management. Thank you Jerry Hennessy at the Westroads location for being willing to take care of this new member .

The Midtown facility has HVAC and parking problems. The HVAC: this winter, the group fitness room was freezing. We did yoga in winter coats for months. This summer, the Personal Training, Spin and locker room are disgustingly hot, sweaty, and smelly (a great way to grow mold) due to lack of ventilation and no AC. The parking garage basically has broken entrances and exits for over 5 weeks..I understand Genesis is only a tenant, but it is one of the largest tenants in the Midtown Crossing complex with paying customers. Genesis needs to put pressure on Midtown Crossing to actually provide building operations and maintenance in a timely manner.

If you like your gyms full of people who sit on the equipment with ear buds, watching their phones not working out then have I got a place for you!!!EDIT - enforce the rules. Stop people from having long, drawn out phone conversations in the gym. That rule didnt just fart itself into existence. Your CGL provider no doubt doesnt want people distracted while doing an inherently dangerous activity. The ONLY time I see the people who work there on the gym floor is when 1) giving a tour or 2) picking up towels. It is exhausting having to rack 295 pounds so I can ask the guy two machines down to please take his phone call out into the hall so I can concentrate on my lift (this actually happened a few weeks ago). He had the audacity to get mad at me for asking him to make his plans to meet his buddy at The Green Room more quietly so I could squat in relative peace.EDIT2 - Just spent thirty minutes at your gym NOT to work out. There are two bench press stations there. And, both were occupied by super setters. They would do a set and then disappear to work other muscles. Five to six minutes between each set on the bench. Headphones on so you cannot ask them to work in. Your gym isnt big enough for super sets. At least help us out by putting a sign up to the effect, If you plan on super setting you MUST allow people to use the bench. Dont be better, just be what you promised.EDIT3 - For the third time in as many weeks I was backloaded with 200+ pounds. When someone decided they needed a weight that was racked on my particular rack. I was mid-lift when that person invaded my peripheral vision / line of site and interrupted my lift. After abandoning the squat I went to the deadlift station. On my third set some entitled Creighton-ite decided she needed to speak with me about a pin at the deadlift station. As she was deeply engrossed in whatever was on in her headphones she VERY LOUDLY asked if she could borrow a pin mid-lift. I dropped the weight and equally as loudly asked her not to approach me mid-lift as it wasnt good gym etiquette. To which she informed me that all I had to do was nod my head.... WHILE I WAS MID-LIFT!!! Of course, she wound up telling me that I was the a**hole. AMAZING entitlement.Genesis get ahold of your gym. Enforce the rules you have in place. Make sure the Creighton-ites know proper gym etiquette. #notworhtitatanyprice

This place is horrible. Read the other reviews about the condition. But if you have a legitimate reason for needing to cancel your membership, such as moving to another city, good luck with that. It was a nightmare to get our membership cancelled. And they made us pay a hefty cancellation fee. This place is not about customer service, or providing a nice, clean gym with well-maintained equipment, and a friendly staff. Its all about getting your monthly fee. Thats business. But Genesis does not care about you. At all. There are a lot a places that do care.

My wife and I have loved going to the Midtown Genesis location. In my opinion, it is the best gym for anyone living in Midtown Omaha. Each time we walk in the club, staff greets us with a smile. Upon filling out the end-of-year survey for the club, the manager, Sydnee Penaherrera, was very responsive and understanding of my wifes feedback. I also love the clubs extensive operating hours which make it easy to get a workout in whenever Id like. Weve also gotten to use other Genesis clubs with out membership and have been impressed with other clubs in the Omaha area. Jason Boice has been a favorite of the managers weve met so far - hes very thorough and attentive to his club.

The employees are what make this location worth going to. They are always friendly, working hard and doing the best with what they have. However the gym itself seems to be falling apart. I pay $80 a month for a locker room with one working sink out of four, a steam room that is rarely working, gym equipment that is falling apart. If I want ot go to a gym that has most working equipment I have to pay an extra fee. Wish it was better considering how much I pay per month.

But the guy at front desk who did everything left club all started spiraling down with (cleaning, towel services, just all around, broke steam room, machines down) not good. Then two new employees showed up sm lady dark hair dont know name, & Enrique happy to say they have revived the club. Nice, friendly but most importantly club is up running at Level should be. Machines seem to be repaired quicker, towels always good, steam room up running, they have definitely done what needed to be done to get club back up to par, which Im happy about. I had thoughts of switching not anymore. I pay for a service when its not good I say something or ask questions. When its clear you see effort to make things better its only right to say thank you.

I have been a member of Genesis for over five years now and have utilized almost all their facilities in Omaha and some in the Kansas City area as well (RIP OneLife). In those five years, I have watched every gym they acquired slowly deteriorate to unsanitary and borderline unusable conditions. Its clear their business strategy is to acquire every gym in the area, so there are no other options, but then they do ZERO maintenance on their properties or machines and neglect cleaning to the point their facilities become unsanitary and most of the equipment is broken.Over the past two years, my home gym has been the Midtown location. When they first acquired this gym, it was BEAUTIFUL. It felt like a true health club with a great location and the amenities were nice. Over the years, this gym has deteriorated to the point it feels unsanitary to work out there because basic maintenance and cleaning has been completely ignored, to the point the properties are rapidly deteriorating. For example, for the past year, at least 1/4 sinks in the womens locker room have been broken and clogged, which eventually turned into two broken sinks, with no efforts to fix for at least six months. Most recently 3/4 sinks were backed up with debris in the sinks for WEEKS. Leaving one usable sink and other three left to ferment with dark matter, likely creating the next viral outbreak. Then theres the showers. Most days the showers look unsanitary. Theres been multiple occasions I have tried to use the showers and each stall has massive clumps of hair across the walls and in the drains, indicating they haven’t been cleaned in a concerning amount of time for gym showers. If by chance they appear to have been cleaned, the showers in the women’s locker room have drainage issues, presumably a simple hair clog; however, if one shower is going for over a minute, the water does not drain and you’re standing in an inch of water.I have found this kind of neglect is common at all their facilities. When recently at the Askarben location, all the shower stalls, except one, had no lights or was missing a light because they were burnt out. Changing lightbulbs is basic maintenance and it takes months, if ever, for lights to be changed. In addition, the showers at Askarben were incredibly disappointing. Once beautiful and nice, now there is mold build up around the fixtures, indicating poor cleaning standards and you can see the deterioration in what was once a beautiful gym.Back to Midtown, let’s talk about the actual gym. Out of the five Stairmasters, only two of them work and this has been true for over 6+ months. As machines break, they don’t even bother to put a sign on it. You just learn what machines work and avoid the ones that don’t. In addition, there are several cardio machines that squeak loudly during use, to the point you can hear them through your headphones and across the gym. There is no urgency or concern to fix broken equipment and slowly machines are becoming unusable because basic maintenance isn’t performed. The final straw and why I finally decided to leave Genesis this month, was when the air conditioning went out at Midtown multiple times over the course of at least a week. I understand this happens, but due to the lack of airflow, the true nature of this gym became apparent. It’s below freezing in Nebraska, but the smell at the gym was so rancid with the smell of sweat and urine, I barely lasted 15 minutes before I had to end my workout to prevent myself from throwing up from the smell. I truly do not believe the air quality was safe at that point. I’ve never seen a staff member clean a piece of equipment, which ultimately sets the tone for members. Barely any members clean the equipment after use and over time, this neglect now makes the gym feel unsafe because of the sanitation concerns. To the leadership at Genesis, thank you for ruining every good gym in Omaha.

Ive tried out quite a few gyms in Omaha to find my favorite place for a quick workout when I am in town. Genesis at Midtown Crossing was a clear winner! The staff is super friendly and accommodating and the managers, Sean and Jason, made sure to work with me to make sure my experience at Genesis was great. I think one the strongest indicators of good management is how often the managers are actually there. So I like the fact that I have yet to go when they were not. Additionally, they do a great job hiring as everyone else Ive met, like Peggy and Cameron, have always greeted me with a smile at the front desk. And just as an added bonus, Ive never seen towels folded more perfectly, that thanks to Cameron. I will keep coming back, and seriously recommend this gym to anyone considering memberships.

My fellow gym-goers are always courteous and respectful with rare and forgivable exception (sometimes someones hogging all the free weights or spending too much time at a power rack, for example). My only issues thus far have really had to do with a few maintenance issues -- there was a brief period of time when the location had no hot water and theres the occasional broken machine. You basically get hit with all kinds of different charges and when you go to cancel they become extremely rude. I spoke with Peggy and was basically threatened to be sent to collections without any explanation. Save your money and go somewhere else. It’s an overpriced gym, lack of clean towels, bathrooms and sauna smell like something died inside which you can see several other reviews complaining about how nasty the locker room, showers and mold issues they have. Everything is broke and who knows when it will get fixed. Machines have been sitting there broke for several months and there is never anyone working on them. The mens and womens saunas have been broke for a significant time and of course, nothing is being done to fix them. The club used to have staff that enjoyed their jobs and took pride in keeping the club maintained. Now, they look so unhappy and that they hate their jobs. I feel horrible for the staff/trainers that have to give yours to potential customers. With everything broke and dirty, there would be no way anyone in their right mind would sign up based on the condition of this club. The ventilation in the showers are also frequently broken down to the point the ceilings been re-painted at least twice to cover up the mold problem. I dont frequent the steam room often but that too was broken down a few times. The equipment upholstery has some major wear and tear---some machines could use some basic maintenance.I really want to like this gym more---its convenient and the staff are friendly. Ive had so many complications with my membership and trying to cancel it. Im a college student and they were charging me $90/month for my membership even though the facility is NOT very nice and up to date at all. When I tried cancelling it, they kept charging my bank account and would need a membership services employee to be present for me to cancel it. I cant cancel it online or over the phone so when I went in a few times to cancel, no membership person was there and I wasted my time and gas to drive there just to be told no one could help that day to cancel. When I FINALLY was able to get ahold of someone in person, they were rude to me about cancelling my membership, asked very personal questions as to why I no longer wanted to be with their gym, and then told me if I want a free membership to get a job with them. I already work two jobs and am a full time student which they already knew so I dont know why they told me to get a job with them.ANOTHER issue Ive had is my G Perks Rewards portal. I was told if I sign up with my bank account routing number they will withdraw monthly fees from my checking account and I will receive a $200 hotel voucher on my G Perks. However, I still havent received this voucher and everyone I have called about it doesnt have the answer or doesnt even know about an offer like that. I have left my name and number for someone to call me back multiple times and no one has called me back. Ive had to personally follow up multiple times a week and am frustrated no one knows whats going on or I cant get ahold of anyone because the phone will ring then hang up or membership services isnt available. I feel like Im getting scammed at this point and the communication between staff is incredibly poor and no one knows whats going on or how to get ahold of membership services. If I am paying $90/month I expect the customer service to be good and expect that someone picks up the phone when I do call. Im also frustrated that membership services is hardly ever available and its extremely hard to get ahold of them.

An outstanding gym with a positive and supportive atmosphere, Prairie Life Fitness in Midtown Crossing has far exceeded the expectations of this lifetime gym goer. What you get: quality equipment, great staff, a comfortable ambient temperature, plenty of cardio machines (even at peak hours), positive and friendly fellow members, and a clean and neat locker room among other things. What you dont get: an expensive price. The fees are very reasonable. Ive lost 40 lbs here since I joined in November. Join!

Aside from two or three billing issues on the part of a third party, Ive had nothing but positive experiences with this gym.The operations and billing staff are helpful, prompt and will get you what you need with minimal hassle. The trainers and athletic staff members are knowledgeable, helpful, and most of all extremely flexible with their availability. While the initial investment of membership may be higher than average, the benefits and ease of access to all PL locations makes it worthwhile.

I joined this club back in 2015, do to the convenience of the location being next door to work and home. Have stayed all these years even after moving to another town and work going full time remote because of the management and my amazing personal trainer Jake Anderson.Through the club owner changes, management has remained. Always professional, courteous and personable and available to answer any question you have and greeting you by name. And working with Jake has been more than I ever expected and words can not describe. He has helped me reach multiple PR’s in 10K’s & Half Marathons I never thought possible! After six years Jake’s workouts are ever changing to push me further or step back to help me recover from a running injury or medical setbacks. He truly cares about your whole well being and not just the hour you are with him!

Today was my first time going to the midtown gym, and it was something new to me, it private and has a wonderful view. I enjoyed my time especially coming back to the gym after so long. There more levels that have tanning and massages but I have more to explore when I come back tomorrow. I cant wait to back in shape

Little pricey but very nice facility. Good selection of free weights.Still love the gym and the general staff but I cant say the same for the management. After 2 years as a member, I was moving and when I cancelled I was charged for an additional month bc I failed to proved 30 day written notice. This to me is a poor practice, they can do better.

I just joined this gym! It is a little pricey but worth it. The classes are great and you can do them at any fitness level. When you sign up you also get a free meeting with a personal trainer and that is really fun and helpful! I really like the HIIT class and the Total Body Conditioning! Trina is so funny, she makes working out fun. :) I have not tried the pool yet but looking forward to it this Summer. Thats a different location tho.

They close the gym way too early for what they charge you. The should close at 10 or 11 pm at least. 9 pm is just too early and now they want you to leave the gym before 9 pm, so that the staff can go home to study. So selfish and unprofessional! And what about the nearly $100 that I paid for the month on a temporal membership. Screw themselves! They will end up closing the gym with that attitude. It was better with Carrie Hoops as manager before and now for a Tuesday it was so empty. Things are not well in this gym. Now the students are the staff and they feel that they own the place. I am going from now on only to the 132nd St & W Center PLF. At least they close at 12 am and treats you better.

Things never get fixed. Equipment broken for long periods of time. Steam room has been broke for at least a month now. They knew how to run a fitness center.

Money stolen and they didnt care....After my evening workout, I encountered a black man using the locker next to mine. He commented on what a good workout he had but I never saw in the gym nor did he appear sweaty. I stopped him as he was leaving and told him he left his clothes in the locker. Obviously, it was someone elses locker he was in. The next day when I was making a purchase, I discovered the $100 I had in my billfold was gone! I knew immediately who took my money. I called the gym and they said they would check on it and call me back. No one did. I called again and asked for the manager, same response. I contacted the general manager for the Omaha clubs and had a more receptive ear. He checked with Midtown Crossing and was told they knew who had been stealing and evidently we were not the only victims. The man was using a day pass. My wifes son managed Golds Gym and told us day passes are always suspect and that they take special precautions anytime they accept a walkin using a day pass. Evidently Prairie Life does not. They never reimbursed me nor did they offer any compensation. After my membership was up, I never renewed.

This club re-opened without notifying its members. The way I learned about the reopening is by my credit card being charged another month worth of membership fees. I had already been charged inadvertently for April, for which I have not yet received a credit. Front desk staff incredibly indifferent about members who are unable to resume visiting the gym due to underlying health condition. I was coerced into signing away rights for a refund when all I was left with was the option to cancel. Unethical. Feeling betrayed.

I originally want to pay cash for one year membership. I was told that was not a option. I signed up for a two year promotion price. If you like complicated contracts this is the gym for you.

All the trainers are really helpful too. The equipment is new and its never too busy that you cant get a good work out in!I train with Kristin and she is absolutely amazing. In November of 2013, I was 129 lbs, 22% body fat and now seven months later Im 110 and 16% body fat. The hours at the Midtown location seem to be a mistake. Closes at 9pm in an urban nightlife district? Closing at 4 and 5pm on the weekends? Hopefully the transition from Prairie Life to The Athletic Club will bring expanded hours to give them a chance to bring in customers and succeed. I hope to one day be a member. Until then, best of luck.

Be aware: if your signing anything be sure to read the fine print, they slip a 24mo. contract in under your nose. No one in their right mind would sign a 24mo. contract. They “had all the paperwork done” and “all I had to do is sign” with no mention of being locked in for 24months. The gym itself is subpar, my advice to anyone looking at this gym. Go to Orangetheory, it’s expensive but at least they’re not shady.
