We had a great time doing the potion making for 2. The Bavarian pretzel and huge and delicious. We got two free shots for booking online and ordered another two drinks after our class. Our “teacher” was Aman and he was fantastic. Very attentive and gave a great explanation of how to make the drinks. Overall had a great time and would come back.
Do you love hocus pocus or Harry potter or wizards and witches? This is a definite spot you have to check out. Excellent service. Great staff that stays in character. The drink menu is short but fun to make. Well worth the potion making experience. Food is tasty and the portions are worth the money.
Atmosphere: 1/1: Unique atmosphere makes you feel like you’re in a store in Hogsmeade. Fitting instrumental music in the background.Service: 1/1: Our server was overwhelmed with a large party while the bartender and another employee watched her struggle juggling a table of 9 and 2 more tables. This lead to very slow service but when available she ended up being very kind and attentivePrice: 0.5/1: Expensive for what it isFood: 1/2: The visuals of the drinks are incredible! But the taste not so much. We had 5 of their drinks, and can honestly say we only really liked one (The Maleficaria). The rest were either too sweet or tasted bad enough that we were drinking them to not feel bad about the prices we had just payed for them. The Shishito peppers were tasteless. Mac and Cheese was decent.Overall: 3.5/5: You’re paying for the experience of visuals, NOT the taste of the drinks. The potion making class is not worth it if you’re an adult. However, I can see the appeal for kids. If you want to still check out the place, you’re better off buying the drink already made for you.Be aware that the wand only worked to pour the drink from the unicorn (almost had to tap the wand against the button for it to work). And if the wand works anywhere else we were not made aware.
Bought a potion making package and everyone really liked it. I personally thought it was a little bit underwhelming. I guess I thought there would be like a little show where a teacher would walk us through it. That isnt the case, you follow instructions from a book. Everyone in the group loved it, so you probably will too.The bar is really cute themed and there are multiple mocktail options. That is awesome.
My wife took my for my birthday last year and then we took my best friend for her birthday now and it was amazing each time! Liam was an amazing potion master. The experience is so much fun and worth every penny!
It was just ok overall. Service was ok, our server appeared irritated with us from the minute we were seated. We paid the 60$ for the reservation deposit. We also had 80$ in credit towards food and drink. When all was said and done, we had to pay out of pocket for the built in gratuity because neither our credit or deposit could be used for such. We had a total credit of 140$ and our bill was closer to 100$. Therefore, we lost out on money but yet still had to pay the automatic gratuity of 22$. The server said he was unable to refund the portion of our deposit we paid. While the reservation was suggested to be made due to long wait times, we got there and were essentially the only ones in the restaurant for the first 30 minutes there. Had I known this, I would not have wasted my 60$ on a reservation. We ordered 3 simple items: a burger, mozzarella bites, and a meat and cheese board. The meat and cheese board came out well after the other two items with meat that had so much fat that you couldnt eat it.The two non-alcoholic drinks left a lot to be desired. The one that was to taste like blueberries, honey, lemon, etc., simply tasted like carbonated water with zero flavor. I had asked the server for a shot of some type of juice to add to the drink to make it tolerable.Overall I was saddened by the experience. Even though we booked a table just to eat and drink, without the potion-making, I thought the whole thing would have a different vibe. It felt like we were more of a nuisance because we were just there for food and drinks. I thought it would be something the kids would enjoy. I expected much more, and ended up disappointing myself more than anything.
Liam was great! The ambience is super cool. It’s a very unique experience and I would definitely do it again. I do think the drink ingredients need a little tweak here and there but it was great !
It’s in a scary area with aggressive beggars. Our server was just about the only good thing about our experience. They were out of about 1/3 the drinks and food choices. Most of us weren’t able to get what we want. They didn’t have any like can beers, ciders, or smash burgers. We ended up getting a couple wizards boards which consisted of garbage sauce wings, chicken strip crumbs, bread triangles, and gooey frozen mozzarella triangles instead. Not worth the $32 bucks. We got a cauldron drink which was mostly ice with tea bags. Our bill was over $300. Giving the situation though, our server was excellent. He was friendly and checked in on us quite a bit. I would try this place on more time again hoping for a better experience. The fish was great with good presentation. They need to try a little hard with their stock and offer comps when they do run out of 1/3 of their items.
I loved the spooky vibes and kudos to the hostess who managed to seat me without a reservation on a Friday evening. I ordered a sangria to go along with my food order and it was enjoyable. The crispy brussel sprouts came out first and they were amazing. Five stars!Next was the pretzel and cheese. The pretzel was soft and warm and a sold four stars. But I had to downgrade it to two stars because of the cheese. It had this unique texture that just wasnt my jam.The final item that came out was chicken tenders and fries. This is 1 star. My advice - skip the tenders, you will be glad that you did!Overall, come for the drinks and not the food.
A perfect stop for our spooky bachelorette trip! This was such a fun experience with friends. We made 2 potions at the table, both being pretty tasty and cute looking. You get a third drink included as well in the beginning from the mouth of a unicorn that I think was the most delicious of the 3. We were a group of 7 so they had to split us into 2 tables which was a little unfortunate. You also only get 1 wand per table which was a bummer at first but totally understandable. The servers were great and even gave everyone a complimentary shot. The place is decorated really well and it was exactly the vibe we wanted.
Such a cool place and cool experience. Aman helped us through our potion making class and it was such a great time. HIGHLY recommend. We came for a girls night and it was AMAZING !
If your in to Harry Potter. This is a lovely place to go. How they have everything setup to make your own drink, is wonderful. The drinks themselves tast great as well. The food is good to munch on just not a lot of options.
If you are a Harry Potter fan I highly recommend going here. I was there this afternoon with my husband to celebrate my 30th birthday. The drinks you make using the potions recipes are very good and fun to make. We also had the pretzel and it came with cheese and mustard to dip which was also amazing. I would definitely go back again for more fun.
Our server Liam was super involved with the performance of the potion making experience and made the entire session very memorable. Would absolutely come again with friends and family alike!
The experience was very well planned out. The drinks were tasty. They were able to replace one of the base alcohols for our group. It was nice having the finger foods available while having a couple of drinks. We did try to order a couple more items of food at 10:25pm and found out that the kitchen was closed. The issue was not about the kitchen closing, but that it would have been nice to have a warning of this is the last call for ordering food. The food and the drinks we received were very tasty and the host was very friendly. Would come back to just try some of the drinks they have on the drink menu and not do the potion class.
Wow what a fun experience! My girlfriend and I purchased the full 90 minute potion making experience and we loved it! Our server / potion master was friendly and spirited, and the drinks / potions we created were delicious. The entire restaurant had a wizard-like atmosphere and that added to the experience as well. A Harry Potter fans dream..... Id recommend going with a party of 3+ just to share the experience with as many people as possible. We ordered food as well, and it was fine (Bavarian pretzel was delicious), but the creative drinks are the highlight! Id definitely return just for that.
A mystical magical time of potion making (cocktails or mocktails). This was an hour and 45 minute experience that was worth every penny!!!! We had an amazing experience, our Potion Master who led the experience was fantastic, with the wave of our magical wand that we received upon entry to this magical place we were able to summon him for our every wish or need as well as turn on features around the bar and on our table. The decor from the moment you entered takes you to a mystical place as well as the fantasy tavern music. This is so well done.
My wife, my in-laws, and I went here recently. All their food was fantastic and it was really cool seeing the fish and chips come out with the dry ice smoke beneath it. We had a lot of fun making the drinks and their recipes tasted amazing too. Zach B. was the person who started us off and he was really nice. When things got busy Amon took over for him and he also did a fantastic job!
Talk about a fun find! We got caught in the rain while walking nearby, so popped in and were pleasantly surprised by this quirky, cool little dash of unexpected fun. We sampled a couple appetizers (charcuterie board and tapas) and accepted the waitstaff’s suggested drinks just for the fun-appeal. We sat next to tables filled with witches, warlocks, and wizards who were busy mixing up their shared potions in the cauldrons. You really must experience this place to feel the magic for yourself!
We bought 2 Go City passes, which gave us $40 off our food tab. We walked in and were seated without a reservation. We went a little nuts because the place is so magical!!For drinks we ordered:Centaur‘s CordialOde to MullicaThe blobcauldron spring punchBubbling shot of deathAsguardian nectarI thought the bubbling shot of death, the blob, and the cauldron spring punch were the winners. So much fun having the dry ice in the drinks. They have special shot glasses, so even if you “shot” the drink, it would catch the dry ice.For food we ordered:Spinach and artichoke dipPretzelTiramisuSmoked mac & cheese with short ribsThe spinach and artichoke dip and tiramisu were the winners!! So delicious!!Our server was Ally. She was so very nice. Had good suggestions and was quick to get our next drink.I loved the place. We missed out on the potions class, which has the box, because you have to reserve that ahead of time. I wish we had, but we still had a great time!
*Overall Score Below*This is the coolest place you’ll ever go to. Usually when you go to places like this drinks are sub par. Not at the cauldron. Not only is the atmosphere and ambience amazing the drinks are out of this world. I honestly felt like I was in a real life Harry Potter drink pub. Although there is no affiliation let me just say that it makes you want to be a witch/wizard. We couldn’t do the show/game that they have which looked super cool I think it’s around 90$ a person I might be wrong but from what it look liked was you create your own potions and etc. looks super super cool. The drinks was awesome we had the the blob, an espresso martini, ode to mullica, bubbling shot of death which is the best shot I’ve ever had hands down. The staff was super friendly and they were so cool. They took pride in making the drinks and they had fun with it. It wasn’t just bartender makes drink. They were awesome people. Thank you guys very much for an amazing evening and for the amazing drinks. This score will be based on drinks only so I will edit whenever we go back to eat.Overall score here is a 9.1. Drinks are amazing.Til next time,Osca Lobsta Out!!
This was an extraordinary experience. It was very interactive, fun, and extremely tasty. Our server, Madison was really friendly and gave amazing recommendations. The cocktails and food were all delicious. We ended with the bubbling shot of death. Highly recommend. We will definitely be returning to try more.
Fun atmosphere that commits to the theme, servers that also commit! The cocktails created during the potion experience werent my cup of tea but maybe we missed a class in potion making!
The Cauldron is the BEST spot in Philly!! Our server, Zach, was the most wonderful, attentive, and magical wizard in the whole world. The service and drinks were so fabulous! I can’t wait to make magic here again soon!! We LOVE wizard Zach!!
The experience was fun and the food was delicious. The drinks was good a bit sweet ( not my taste but I know my friends would love them; plus they have a full bar so you can order drinks that ate not sweet. We only had the tapas menu but the food was very delicious. I want to come back to try the full menu.
I would like to start by saying thank you to the person who created this experience. For bringing such a new, fun and innovative way to enjoy libations. As well, to include those who are unable to enjoy adult beverages, or just don’t enjoy that side of life. We had Zach B, who was also training Mitchell, as our potion masters. The world was their stage, and we were glad to be part of it. Greeted with a wand and a cloak; then apparate to your table to enjoy the experience. We had the crispy brussel sprouts to start. Ngl, typical but still elevated because of the atmosphere. Interactive potion making with the coupling of karaoke style music easy to enjoy and sing along too. The more intricate drinks to make are the best tasting and for good reason. Not to take away from the more simple drinks. Raise your wands, and come here for a 5 star experience you didn’t know was possible.
Originally we planned to visit here during their Christmas potion making class in December, but we end up getting sick and having to cancel; but they were willing to help us reschedule and honor our previous reservation. We ended up choosing the Valentines day potion class; and it was amazing. They were accommodating to my significant others fruit allergy, they even sent her the full ingredient list, they even double checked with us that we are not mixing our ingredients. The atmosphere is lovely, we went around 6pm on a Tuesday; so it wasnt too loud or crowded. Our server, or potions master was super friendly and had a great attitude.I definitely would recommend going here.
Zach was awesome! Very attentive and jovial! We loved our experience. It was a birthday/Christmas gift combined. We ordered a wand on the Everlasting wall of wands and were very happy with the quality and presentation. Super interesting interactive cocktails, for an awesome price. Will book another experience soon! Thank you Cauldron!
Mixed feelings on this place. When we arrived, we were told we had to wait 15 minutes for our table (even though we had a reservation and that there were open tables). We were not permitted to wait in a restaurant, so we needed to squeeze into the small hallway between restaurant and apartments upstairs. After we were sat, the waitress was friendly and did explain the menu to us. We ordered drinks first and then food a few minutes later. Food arrived promptly before drinks. Portions are small and dive bar quality, but tasty. Its just not worth the price. They never put the fire out on our cauliflower, so that ended up burning pretty bad. Also, the cook came out to make sure we wanted the dragon sauce on our wings. I was confused about why she needed to ask. The dragon wings also state they come in a cauldron, which was not the case. The gin tea drink we ordered took 35 minutes to be served to us. We were already finished eating. I understand things taking time, but the staff was all laughing and having fun, and the drink seemed like an afterthought to them. All in all I cant day that its worth the cost. Maybe ok if they can get their act together on drink service. As for atmosphere, that was wonderful. But looks arent everything.
Hannah and the Cauldron were great! The bar was decorated nicely and did not skimp on the details which helped build the atmosphere. Our table made cocktails and mocktails and all of them were delicious and interesting to make. Hannah was very attentive and friendly. She has a great laugh and made sure we had everything we needed at each step of the potion process. Will definitely go again!
Really enjoyed our time at the Cauldron. Came by for an early Friday wizard session and had a magical time crafting cocktails and soaking in the environment. I want to highlight the great staff, who all stayed in character and made it particularly special. Assuming they continue to mix up the cocktails and food options to keep things varied, well definitely be back!
For starters, before the experience, everyone from the bouncer to the waitstaff was very kind and attentive. Service was quick, and the drinks are the perfect combination of sweet and delicious while still being appropriately strong. My dad and I got the smash burgers, which were large, flavourful, and came with a bunch of yummy fries. Seeing someone else get a small appetizer for only a few dollars cheaper, id just skip on ahead to an entree seeing how much more food you get.The experience itself was super fun, Raegan was our potion master and they were incredibly kind, charismatic, and helpful through the entire process, really making the entire experience so much more personable, fun, and memorable for my dads birthday.Overall, its pricy but a worth it experience for special occasions if you want to feel like a drunken wizard/mage for a night!
Menu is very small - no kids choices. Mainly consists of appetizers that you can get anywhere (mozz sticks, wings, popcorn chicken). The food was pretty bland - charcuterie board was a few slices of meat, an apple slice, three olives, crackers fromWalmart, and a few grapes. It cost $35 but there was nothing that you couldnt get at any grocery store at less than half the price. It was a hot day outside and they served tapwater, no ice. Service was slow and indifferent. A/c didn’t seem to be working well. Just a poor experience all around. Food was super overpriced for what you get. Drinks were creative and the atmosphere was interesting. Staff not welcoming. Disappointing - wanted to like it.
Brought my girlfriend here for her birthday and she just adored the vibes and the theme of the place. Everyone here was just amazing and so helpful, especially Aman!! Definitely planning to come back for some more potion making! Strongly recommend the smoky Mac&cheese along with the forager’s cauldron drink!!!
Waiter was super nice, hostess seemed like she didnt wanna be there, were out of everything ( burgers, ciders, some beers). Ended up having to spend way more than expected because of the inconvenience of being out of burgers.Love the decor .
Great night out with the ladies. Super close to parking and Patco. Warm cozy atmosphere with friendly bartenders and staff. Really neat craft your own drinks experience. Ingredients used are far from ordinary and make for an experience unlike any youve had. Nice small plate and appetizer selection as well. Would definitely recommend as a fun night out and would bring my young daughters here for the non alcoholic drink making experience.
Although The Cauldron is already on the map and there are hundreds of positive reviews saying what needs to be said, here’s another. This Potter-inspired experience uses just a dash of magic to get things right.Your ‘potion master’ guides you to make three drinks. You get a fancy magic wand that with the right combination opens a secret case with ingredients inside. Obviously this caters to a generation that grew up with magic, not one currently growing up! So leave the kids at home. Must be 21+ to enter, but you can actually do an alcoholic and non alcoholic version of the experience. They’ve spared no detail when it comes to decorations and theming which is good to see, since that’s what you’ll pay for. Drinks are on point although I’m probably the wrong reviewer to give more detail on that front - I usually stick to food. 5/5 for the group with something similar from me. Definitely would recommend for any Harry Potter lovers. We know you’re out there. As for the extra stuff you know you love from my reviews: would be cautious about anything used to color a drink as artificial dyes are super toxic, so inquire about that. The lighting and chemistry on display is really delightfully good though. Somehow not cheesy but very involved. If you have light sensitivity… not the best spot I’d imagine? But you’ll get the idea from photos!
This was a really awesome experience, I don’t really know what I was expecting. It was our first time and I think that I might have been expecting like it to be really super busy and packed. I was kind of nervous that I wouldn’t like the drinks so I was prepared for that. But I was blown away. From the beginning they treat you like a wizard, everything that they provide is amazing. The price is so perfect for the drinks and the experience. You’ll get the opportunity to get a drink from the Sanderson sisters. You also get the opportunity to play with your wand and create special potions. You receive two drinks that are already made and then you create two portions with your friends. At the end you get a nightcap shot which was delicious and strong. Natalie was an amazing host as well as everyone else that worked there. It was a great experience; I would love to do it again, and I am excited that I can bring my kids and have them experience this too.
This place is so fun especially celebrating an event like a birthday or girls night out! Aman was our potion master and he was spectacular! Walked us through everything we needed to know and kept the experience lively and exciting! Highly recommend trying out The Cauldron for your next philly night out!
Absolutely an adorable, fun, and magical place to visit if you get the chance to. The drinks were great, the experience and magical elements were so fun, and being sat with other people really gave us a chance to mingle and make some friends! Also, the music and overall vibe is so wonderful and really makes you feel like youre in a medieval tavern in a magical world. Our potion master Natalie and waitress Hannah were both wonderful, and so kind and fun to talk to as well!
This is such a cool spot for a full wizard atmosphere and drinks! Our potion master Aman was extremely attentive and helped us greatly, he made our experience great. Will definitely be returning to try more drinks!
My sisters, sister-in-law, and I went here for some quality bonding time and we did NOT WANT TO LEAVE!! We took potions class, which was super fun considering we’d all never made cocktails before! It was an interactive experience with a wand, smoking cauldron and even grinding fresh herbs! We enjoyed that it was hands on (allowing you to really read the directions and make the memories, with our potions master there to help)!! The drinks we made were probably some of the best drinks i’ve ever had, all of us were blown away! Afterwards we stayed to eat and drink (some more hahaha) our food was delicious, and well priced for the portions!! The best part though, was the amazing staff. Our server, the bartenders, and the chef - everyone made our experience so much fun and memorable. I know i’ll be back!!
Had a group of five stopped in on a whim. We did not do the potion making class, but we did still have some fun drinks! Ally was our server and was helpful with all our questions. The ectoplasm shot was good and the group shared the three witches drink, also good. I’m excited to come back for a full potion making class!
I made reservation had to cancel due to illness was told to reschedule. I don’t live in the area so didn’t plan on making a visit just to come here so I asked for a refund. Instead of understanding and refunding for an experience I never had they fought to keep my money (I guess the business is that money hungry and isn’t doing to well that they have to keep someone’s money instead of refunding it like the majority of business that would). Based upon reading reviews a forced 20% tip?? That’s a joke right?? If my experience is good and I was treated fairly I’ll place my own tip. Never will I visit an establishment that requires you to give a tip regardless of your experience there or with the staff.
Lots of fun and our potions master was great. We got a complimentary “welcome” drink and got to make two “potions” (cocktails). My only complaints is that I started feeling very warm and had nowhere to hang my coat, the space is tight and hard to get in and out of your seat without bumping into anyone, and we were seated at a table with two strangers. Kinda awkward but didn’t dampen the experience.
Really cool place! We stopped in at the bar the first weekend they were open. The bartender was super friendly and took the time to describe the drinks and process to us. The decor is hella nerdy in the right way, and the drinks were really tasty. My cocktail was topped with whipped cream infused with alcohol (bourbon?) and cinnamon. So freaking good.
We are fans of anything that allows us to do fun, unique, and engaging things as a family… escape rooms, travel, geocaching/scavenger hunts, theme parks… and now we can add The Cauldron to the list!!! We booked on a Sunday and Michael was our Guide… the Wizard decor and feel were great… the drinks were good… and tapas were amazing…. The experience as a whole was top notch…. Thanks!!
Absolutely phenomenal!!Not just cocktails.. An interactive, fun, entertaining and unique experience. Just when you think Philly couldnt offer anything else... The Cauldron brings an absolute magical experience! From the staff that stays in character, to the freshness and originality of the cocktails, the evening was unparalleled.A must go!
Great afternoon with our guide Zach. Our “potions” were delicious, as was the food! Would definitely recommend this experience!
It was very different! I was invited by some friends! Thought that server would have stayed close to us to help us with the instructions to make the potion! He was sweet but being that he said it was his first day, that he really didnt understand the instructions! Not his fault! But I liked that it was an intimate environment! Our first and last time! Great experiment! The food was good just wished the plates were more
Sierra is quite possibly the most advanced and exciting wizard that I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Her passion for magic is unmatched, and the potions were exquisite. Sierra deserves a raise and all the tips in the world. Thank you, Wizard Sierra!
This was such a cool experience. The atmosphere was magical and the drinks amazing. Aman, our potion master was enchanting. Thank you Aman and staff for such a groovy night.
We had dinner reservations for 7pm for 10 (8 ended up coming). We were seated immediately, so no complaints there. The atmosphere was great. After that, the experience deteriorated. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. Our server was friendly, but seemed inexperienced and inattentive. He didnt know if they had the bottled/canned beers that were on the menu. According to him, their availability are hit or miss. He didnt know if they were canned or bottled either. After our first round of drinks, he did not check on us regularly to see if we wanted more drinks. We had empty glasses almost the whole night after the first round. When someone finally flagged him down to order another drink, he did not ask if anyone else wanted another. We would have all had another round of beers before we ordered speciality cocktails, but decided to just order our night cap when he returned. After appetizers, we waited a long while for him to come back and see if we were okay. He never asked for our dinner order - we had to tell him that we wanted to order dinner. Eventually, he stopped serving us altogether and another server took over for him. He did not drop our check off, thank us for coming, or say goodnight. At some points, he could be seen scrolling through his phone while we sat waiting. We wanted to be forgiving - perhaps he was new - but when youre spending good money, and paying mandatory gratuity, good service is a minimum expectation.
Fun experience, staff facilitate a great fun time, truely magical. Cocktails could be improved upon, but overall an a+ time.
Wonderful experience, great people. The AC wasnt working while we were in but the owner gave us complimentary shots. We did the potion class & made our 2 drinks (and enjoyed our welcome drink from the unicorns!) PS - THEY HAVE FOOD (we wished we wouldve realized that sooner & had around during drinks!!!!!
This experience was PHENOMENAL!! Highly recommend, especially if you are a fan of the Harry Potter series. Madison was our host and she was great, very attentive and friendly. We booked our tickets online for the 8:45 spot and got there a little early and our table wasnt quite ready but we were able to sit at the bar while waiting and I tried the bubbling shot of death which was very tasty and 10/10 presentation. The bartender was very nice but didnt catch his name. Hoping to make it out to the NY location in the coming future to enjoy this experience again.
Get lost in the wizarding world of potion making! The entire night was enchanting and fantastic. The setting of the entire place really plunges you into a different world. If you’re lucky enough to get Bobbi, she was amazing in guiding us through the potion making process. Each drink was intriguing, full of flavor and mysterious smells, but not overly sweet or bitter. The potion making experience was absolutely fantastic. Beside that, the actual menu has some interesting drinks as well and definitely beckons for many more visits to come. Get lost in the mesmerizing world of The Cauldron!
Zach B. was great! My friends and i were in philly for a girls weekend & we decided to check this place out as avid HP fans. He was super patient and very cool when we were asking questions about what to do. Very cool environment. Definitely recommend!
Our server Aman was amazing, they were such a great storyteller and made each of the potion-making experiences SO fun! We came for my graduation celebration, and they made the end of my looong day such a memorable experience! I highly recommend coming for their ‘potions’, they’re so delicious! Ask for Aman too, they will make your experience 100x better!
I loved it! Our potions master was great and they were very accommodating for the member of our group who doesnt drink. Cute decor. Drinks were sweet, but tasted good. A fun time and worth the price overall. We did end up being seated about 20 mins after our scheduled time, but we sat at the bar and got a drink so it was fine. Ive also been to the Cauldron in NYC and this one was much cleaner and in better shape.
Sierra was an amazing Potion Master! So friendly, helpful and provided an immersive experience. The Fairy Tear were perfectly fresh!
If youre a nerd who loves adult nerd experiences, PLEASE plan your next outing here! You wont be disappointed. The drinks were delicious, our potions master Zach was phenomenal, the atmosphere was beautiful and well thought out even down to the music choice. We had so much fun. My husband and I were giggling like we were goofing off in science class all over again. We went on a Thursday so it was quiet but still a good crowd. Zach was so attentive, knowledgeable, and a great host. We didnt wait long at all for assistance, and you could tell he knew what our next steps were by heart. He anticipated everything, explained everything so well, and he was just a joy to have host the class on our date night. We want to come here again and try more of the drinks. We had the alcoholic options, but nearly everything has a non-alcoholic mocktail that mirrors the essence of the drink. Its more of an emphasis on a delicious experience, not just drinking, which is so important these days. The fries were delicious and perfect to pick at while we were drinking too. All around an A+ experience, and an incredible date night. Cant wait to come back with friends and have a small party do this together!
We had a reservation for 6:15 for one of the potion classes. We had to wait till 7:00 to be seated. Then another 20 minutes to even start our experience. We asked if we could order food and we were told the kitchen was too busy and only fries were available. Another potions table that got seated after us appeared to get chicken fingers. The fries were not enough for our group so we tried to order more. We were told they would be up in a bit only to be told 20 minutes later, when we asked about them, that the kitchen was closed. We saw other tables served food after that point. We came here once before a few months after they opened and had a great time. After tonight we will tell everyone we know to avoid this place.
Before I begin. And before the owner says the staff that worked did the best they could. if you cant understand people get sick its not about understanding if people get sick. Its about the lack of communication. Not once did a manager come and say hi or even explain the situation to us. Zack was amazing and tried his best to help. You can tell he was over worked with over 3 tables seated all at the same time. He definitely brighten the day and made it barable. We had a reservation at 6:15pm. We were not seated till well after AFTER 7 . We had to wait in a small hall way with many other people with the explanation the other reservations are running behind You are not allowed to order food during your experience We were allowed too and it was like they were doing us a favor because we had to wait. When we were finally seated we had to wait to be served again with no explanation on how anything works. The wands are underwhelming they only interact with 1 thing. Following the instructions was different because the colored bands they talk about are not on anything.I understand things happen. As we tipped our server well over what they required on the bill . How ever We should have been allowed to make a decision if we wanted to continue our reservation. The owner knew we wouldnt get the same experience as others. Yet they still took our money and got mediocre service. Yet if we were sick they have a no refund policy. As parents we had to plan this night out months in advance. The over all experience was very underwhelming not worth the amount we spent.Editing to add . This was 5 months ago . And someone was supposed to reach out to me about my experience. But no one has. Despite spending like $300 they can care less.Edit to respond because this seams to be the only way the only way to get a response from anyone . I DID email that email 5 months ago. They responded telling me someone will reach out to me 5 MONTHS ago. Yet here we are with nothing. And instead of reaching out you respond to my google review because, Thats all you care about is what the image looks like. There were no attacks in my review about my EXPERIENCE. At that time Zack was new. He was super nice. But NO ONE communicated anything about any trouble going on. There was no apologies nothing. All there was is a condescending response to my experience after spending hundreds of dollars.
Such a fun experience! Sierra was great and it was so unique and cool. The drinks we made were delicious!
Cute themed place. We sat at the bar and had a lot of fun with yummy food.Food: EXCELLENT. Spicy wings and fries were good to munch with the cool drink we ordered.Drinks: EXCELLENT. Very creative and tasted good. I would come back to try more.Service: EXCELLENT.Overall: YES. I would definitely come back. What a great find.
I booked the potion making experience for two as a last minute birthday activity for my boyfriend. We had a blast! Aman was a fantastic instructor and the drinks were so fun to make! Definitely recommend for a unique experience and fun date night!
Went to The Cauldron for Drag Brunch which was a ton of fun. Loved the performers and overall atmosphere of this spot. I think our waitress must have been new cause we had terrible service. We were the first ones there, but the last ones served. The food was meh. I had the shrimp and grits, which was mostly dry flavorless grits with a few shrimp. The drinks were delicious.
Such a fun place for a drink with friends. Loved the Blob! (basically a margarita but with bubbly magic) Zach B was a peach and did a great job handling a group of 9. Tip him well!
Great experience with Zack B. as our server! Their take on a Shirley Temple for kids comes out in a cauldron with dry ice- so fun for kids! Two of our three dishes also involved smoke or fire, and my adult beverage came out smoking too! Really fun place for dinner with or without kids! Cool ambiance too.
Had such a good time here!!! Aman was so sweet and made the experience so memorable!! The atmosphere and potion making is so immersive and worth every penny. If you’re a nerd and haven’t been here, you’re missing out big time.
Food and atmosphere is amazing, plus Ky is a wonderful handsome server. They brighten my day fr. Get the caesar salad!!!!
This place was super fun an amazing place to celebrate . We went to celebrate my sisters 21st birthday and the staff stayed in character the whole time the “potions” were easy to make and was tasty . My only concern was not being able to find the menu anywhere prior to showing up to plan dining in or not .
This was an amazing experience!! it was my birthday gift and everything was so authentic and cheerful and the potions we made were amazing! I also loved how we got appetizers and two free extra mocktails! definitely will come again — our server bobbi was extremely kind and helpful in our experience and made it feel like we were really in Hogwarts!
5:45 reservation, we weren’t seated until after 6:15. No drinks (not even water) until after 6:45, a full hour past reservation. My wife and I were seated with 2 strangers with no prior warning that we’d be sharing a table. Our waiter seemed distracted the whole time and couldn’t answer questions about the menu or our drinks. If the restaurant was that short staffed, I would have rather been informed and given the option to reschedule. I understand restaurants get backed up, but it honestly just felt like we were inconveniencing them by being there. We were denied parts of the experience (that we paid for in advance) with no explanation or compensation offered. When we asked about these omissions, we were told they were too busy, despite other patrons clearly getting to participate. This included things like retrieving our drinks from the magical unicorn, using wands to cast spells, wearing wizard robes, etc.We weren’t allowed to order actual entrees, we could only order from the tapas menu, stuff like fries and charcuterie. Our waiter only stopped by our table every 20 minutes or so. I must have asked for more water at least 3 times, but the only water our table received was a small bottle to share between both couples. No ice. The water glasses were hot, and not even enough water for a full glass each.My wife and I had a total of 3 drinks each, we split a plate of fries and an order Brussels sprouts from the tapas menu, and we didn’t get our check until 8:30. Reminder, our reservation was for 5:45. Some drinks and a couple apps took almost 3 hours. The total bill was over $160.When we reached out to the restaurant privately via email with our concerns, we received a form response that didn’t directly address anything from our email and offered no compensation or explanation.
Loved it for the most part.. the place was magnificent creative beautiful displays ... the table set up is awesome. The capes are cool i love it... the magic in the drinks is so cool (geekin) ...but :/...as far as taste ... in quality ingredients it was just 1 outa 4 for me... Id appreciate more traditional witchy drinks with fresh herbs, plants, or like those Social Elixers by 3 spirit or Kava 😊There was one with cardamom and ginger I loved that 1....but didnt like the sugary drinks much...thats just me being picky Definitely a place to experience ! Everything was good overall
The Cauldron was such a great experience. It was really fun making our own magical cocktails with the help of the cocktail masters Michael and Bailey. Michael was very patient with us, since we got easily side tracked (Thank you). Also, the bartender, Brendan, made me a one of a kind Spicy Blob cocktail, and it was delicious. If you are a HP fan, or just a friendly witch or wizard, you need to stop in and give this a try!
This is not the same experience as the New York location. The idea is the same but it really doesnt feel like an experience The food was good and the space is cute. So if you go for a bite and order a specialty drink you can definitely skip the drink making experience. Go, if youve never been but its just okay. Bring your own energy!
Food cold but understandable, drinks are fun and tasty recommendations maleficria. Atmosphere invoking and adventurous.Excellent service very attentive and pleasant. Would recommend and I hope for for longevity and buzz.place is Gucci.
I understand from a review response from the owner that the venue was short staffed the night we had our reservation because of covid. I dont fault the servers at all for our experience. They were clearly doing the best they could under the circumstances.I do feel that given the situation we should have been approached by a manager with at least an explanation, not mostly ignored and treated as an inconvenience. We were seated almost an hour after our reservation and had to wait another 20 minutes before being served a drink. We had booked a couples Valentines day experience and were seated with strangers (there is no clear mention on the website that you may have to share a table). When another couple was seated at our table we werent even acknowledged by the host. We watched as almost every patron who booked potion making was seated late, not given the attention that the price point should demand, and visibly upset by the whole experience.I think the appropriate thing to do would be to let people know that they will not be given the ideal experience when they arrive at the venue, and offer them the opportunity to reschedule on another night. Not give them a snarky explanation after the fact in a response to a Google review.Again, I do not blame our server in the slightest. He was overworked, doing the best that he could, and received a generous tip. Management needs to step up their game.
We came for the potion making experience for our anniversary and Aman was our potion master and he was fabulous! Made the entire experience so much fun and we really enjoyed making our own cocktails with all of the smoke and bubbles! 10/10 would recommend.
Amon was an excellent potion master!! My favorite drink was The Maleficaria ot was sweet and had a subtle kick!! Overall a nice experience and Im sure we will.be back.
Loved the decor and theme, but the execution was severely lacking in comparison to the price we paid. Only 1 potion master (server) to a room of 20 people who are all doing different recipes and steps. It was an extremely slow and boring process. Our reservation was for 8:15 and we werent even given the supplies to start our first of 2 potions until almost 9. Our second potion didnt turn out correctly, staff wasnt sure why. It tasted terrible. We think they didnt give us the correct ingredients, but when I asked the girl was like I think I gave you everything. We were the last table to be served or helped and it seemed like we were getting all the mismatched and not correctly labeled ingredients. The way they play out this experience needs to be completely reevaluated. Otherwise, this bar is beautifully decorated for the theme.
We did the potions experience and had alot of fun. Aman was awesome and so helpful. I would recommend this for a different and fun night out for magical fans.
I really hate to give this place a 3 star (barely passing marks) because i desperately want this place to be great. But i have to be honest. I know this is a relatively new branch that just opened in the past month or two, so Im really hoping all the negative points can be chalked up to growing pains.I will just list the strengths and weaknesses of the place below.Strengths:- first off, as you enter, the interior decor was convincing- it was fun to go as a group and being interactive in making the drinks, the experience was certainly unique- price point is fair- they do offer light food menu, typical bar/pub fareWeaknesses:- the place was somewhat cramped, felt congested, and a little chaotic- only about half of the staff were really into role playing, while the other half were kind of indifferent, which could really kill the mood. In places like this, the staff role playing is probably the most important thing above all! Our main server is also particularly in sour mood, for whatever reason. Quite unfortunate.- the potion bottles ingredients need to be better labeled, we spent half the time trying to figure out which bottle contained what- the drinks were too sweet (if you use the ingredients as instructed). I actually typically like sweet drinks, but even for me they were a little too much. So be VERY CAREFUL about adding any sweetener ingredients into your concoctions. Use just a little bit first then you can add more later on as desired. So bottom line: I was disappointed... So much potential but the execution left a lot to be desired, at least for now. I hope they get better over time. I might go again a second time just to give this place another chance.
We visited the cauldron last June for a birthday celebration and were thrilled by the service. The experience is incredibly immersive and the staff are very helpful and attentive. Lucas from the remote support staff was very accommodating in helping us reschedule our most recent visit.
Had a great time at Drag Bingo for my birthday! Great drinks, Zach was a great and attentive server, and the Queens were a lot of fun! Will return.
Our potions master was super kind, fun and energetic, definitely will be coming back for the fun experience! I believe our servers name was Zack B!
So fun! Amazing drinks, and fun to make. Great campy fun way to spend an evening with friends! Ask for Aman, he’s an absolute delight and a wonderful server!!
Great experience! The decor is amazing you feel as though you are entering another world. Great vibes as soon as you are greeted by the hosts. The a/c is currently broken but they inform everyone before entering and they have fans throughout the restaurant. It wasn’t too bad especially when seeing the staff running through the heat. I appreciated the effort put in by the staff to give us a cool and magical experience. Gabby gave the best experience and I look forward to returning soon!
10/10. We came on day 5. Blown away by every aspect. The decor is incredible (down to the tiny details). The potion class is absolutely amazing!!! So fun and unique. We were even able to sit at the bar afterwards and continued to be blown away by the staff. They had just started the food menu. Just as great as the drinks!!!! Whether youre into wizardry or now, if youre looking for something unique and fun to do, this is the place!
A witchy vibe with awesome drink offerings. The staff is fun, open to questions, and you go on a memorable journey becoming a potionmaker!
This was so much fun! Our potion master Aman was very kind and patient with us and made the experience wonderful! Truly a unique and fun experience for any and all nerds- drinks were also delicious!
My wife and I made an 8:15pm reservation. We arrived at 7:30 and sat at the bar after checking in since we were early. At 9:20pm after asking the hostess multiple times when we would be seated, she did not have an answer. No one knew when a table would become available. There were two other couples with 8:15pm reservations at the bar waiting as well. Reservations arrived late which pushed everyone else back. On top of that, a woman showed up for her 8:00pm reservation. At 9:20pm, she was sitting at the table still waiting on her party to arrive. At this point, we asked for a manager. He of course said that people had called out etc etc. regardless, an hour and 5 minutes past our reservation and having no time we would be seated is completely unacceptable. The 3 people behind the bar were super sweet. Otherwise, it was a terrible experience. We had talked about trying this place for a year now and are extremely disappointed.
This place was so much fun, Aaron was a lot of fun for seeing up there potions class event!
Amanda was lovely ! Great vibes great drinks! Cool decorations and great service
Wonderful experience. Delicious food and such a fun atmosphere. Staff is very friendly. Our “Potions Master” for the Valentines experience, Aman was excellent and very personable. Definitely worth checking this place out for a unique and memorable experience.
We had the best time with Aman!!! First time experiencing this lovely establishment was my birthday. Fast forward three weeks later we return again for the class! Aman was amazing! Always ready to help and such a delight! We had so much fun and we can’t wait to come back!!
I obviously didnt really understand how it worked, as we didnt really have any magic experiences. The prebooking with a voucher felt challenging. And the phone was never answered, though they did respond with an email to my voice message. Our waitress was... nice... but I felt like any questions were very annoying. I felt out of my element, and not made comfortable/welcome. Luckily we had $40 in vouchers, so our out of pocket was only $20. It was a great $20 experience. It would not have been a great $60 experience.
The experience was ok, probably not worth the money. The server was the best part of this - she was attentive and enthusiastic.BUT they take your ID upon check-in… not sure why as the experience is already booked & paid for. Anyway they never give your ID back — I’m not even sure when they’re supposed to. Maybe when we paid tip or returned the tiny wind? But didn’t get it back then.I called the next morning to confirm they had it and the person on the phone couldn’t confirm — she said she’d call back and never did. When I had to drive back from my home state into the city, paying tolls on the way, I learned it’s a normal thing for them as they have boxes of IDs that weren’t returned to their owners.
We came here on a Friday night after going to the Harry Potter exhibit at the Franklin Institute, and the experience at The Cauldron was the highlight of our day in Philly! Our host, Michael, was awesome, friendly, super helpful when it came to making the cocktails, and a great addition to our party. They provide cloaks for each witch or wizard (although I brought my own) and one magical wand to share (you will need to put a credit card on file as collateral to use the wand, but they do not charge extra for using the wand). The wand is an important part of the experience as it is used to light up lights and to enchant a magical fairy house on your table, as well as to summon drinks from both your host and from the magical unicorns on the back wall. They are considerate of allergies (we put down that our party was Gluten-free and they asked about it several times) as well as those who do not drink alcohol. There are several non-alcoholic drinks and modifications to potions which allow sober witches and wizards to partake as well.We didnt see the food menu as the kitchen was closing and we had eaten dinner beforehand, but the kitchen looked clean and smelled nice.In addition to the potions making experience The Cauldron has a full bar where you can sit and order drinks (and food), so if making your own drinks isnt your thing you can let the bartenders brew them up for you.The drinks are delicious and its fun to make your own potions. The potions class is perfect for anyone who enjoys magic + hands on activities!
First time here, had lots of fun and wonderful service with Jon! Very warm welcoming vibes, very excited to come back for the next drag event!
I use to recommend Cauldron to friends/family for a good date night or something different.Last years experience was very fun & Engaging but after Saturdays experience I cant recommend it no longer.Last year we each got capes/magic wands. This year no capes .. 1 magic wand for 4 peopleLast year we had a magic box that had secret compartments when touched with the wand. They no longer have that. The rubber band system is a mess they dont have enough rubber bands for vials so it was confusing.Everything just seemed like a mess & unorganizedIm not sure if theres new management but this years cauldron is not it.
Magical merriment. Amazing atmosphere. Delicious drinks. Stupendous service.Aman made our night an absolute delight. Go here as soon as you can.
I’m actually in love with this place. Zach and Emilio were everything. I’m floored re: service because they chatted with me while maintaining dope relationships with other patrons. Can’t wait to return when I move back xx
Been dying to go to this place for ages! Such a fun experience and the vibes are immaculate! Aman was our potion master and he was exceptional!
Went as a birthday outing for my son. We paid upfront for the full potion making experience. Three of us were alcohol free and two with alcohol. Price up front was high but the draw of learning to mix our own potions sounded worth it. All in all the experience was fun but not worth the $$. We bought some food snacks and when the check came it included a fixed 20% tip ($70) on the fee we paid on line. Seemed deceptive. There was a lot of hype about the interactive wand, but in reality it was magnetized and helped dispense drinks at the start of our adventure. After that we raised it to get our waitress. The service was ok, very friendly, but also very short on detail of what the experience entailed and what we were to do next.Enjoyable but expensive and be prepared for hidden cost.
Amon was literally the best potion master! First time here and I got too live my best evil wizard life. I was too short for my cape, but thats a me problem. I am goblin. This place is amazing and the pretzel is amazing.
So much fun!If you want to be potion maker, 100% recommend
We stumbled upon this place and went using the Go City Passes, which covered food up to $20 per person, including the children. I recommed trying this place using those passes if you want to save a few dollars. We did not participate in the potion-making, but would consider returning just to do that. It looked like a lot of fun.The atmosphere is excellent. It is relaxed and has a vibe that combines mystical magic within a bar atmosphere. Our service was not worth the 20% gratuity which is automatically added to every bill. I expected basic courtesy and service and hoped for top-notch service. The venue was not full.We needed to remind the server and inquire about drink orders which must have magically disappeared from their memory.Select items that were ordered did not arrive. We followed up twice and asked for it to be removed from the bill as we all finished eating already.
Fun! drinks were just okay. aman was a great host :)
Aman provided fantastic service and assistance with making the cocktails! The Cauldron was incredibly fun and is a must see for anything trying to experience the magic of Philly!
2 stars off for the food being so horrible and us not receiving our change back. Plus the water is tap water from the sink, yuck. Comes in a cute skull cup though so I guess. We had 3 different dishes and they were all so salty…but this place isn’t about the food, it’s about the drinks obviously and that was super fun to do! Our host was GREAT but didn’t give us our change back from the bill. Maybe he thought it was his tip but gratuity was already added to the bill. We were going to leave a bigger tip when we got our change back but whatever. Definitely go for the experience but don’t order food!
Had so much fun doing the potions class here! Aman was a great potions master, made it a very fun experience!
Took my family for the hot chocolate experience on a Sunday afternoon. It was relatively pricey for what we got, though the kids had a good time. What was extremely off-putting was that they tried to force us to move tables after 45 minutes, saying that our session was over even though the entire restaurant was empty. One of my children is in a wheelchair and even though it would not have been extremely difficult to move, this abrupt announcement took the air out of the balloon for us. We just decided to leave then.Additionally, despite only being a party of 3, they added gratuity onto the bill and then surreptitiously put in another place for additional gratuity that my wife caught before we accidentally left a massive tip that was unearned.
Had an amazing time, great vibe and great drinks. Definitely recommend to all
Such a fun experience with excellent food and incredible drinks. Zach B was amazing and made the experience so much better!
A very magical experience! Zach B was a great waiter and always checked up on us, so many fun themed drinks and food and everything was delicious. We just sat down for dinner but we’ll definitely be back to try the potion making!
Great location and inside decor. We paid for a potions class -2hrs to enjoy and try 3 drinks (2 you make)- which is a great deal. The place and drinks were good. Was surprised how little there was to interact with (sort of expected more), and after only 1hr we were asked to move for the next potions class, which was surprising b/c I though it was 2hr we paid for and then we were downing our drinks which wasnt great(?). Would go again just to try the food or the other drinks on the menu, but not the class again.
Zach did a great job taking care of the larger group I came with! As well as a wonderful sense of humor :D
Honestly, the hype about this place is spot on and our experience was truly magical. Our host, Zach, was exemplary - helping us through the menu and showing us off season beverages we might enjoy as well. We will definitely be coming back here. Left happy and tipsy!
We went to the Cauldron for the Cocktail experience in the basement, so I cant comment on what the service on the main floor is.If you are considering the cocktail experience, dont! Overall, the experience of following a recipe and doing your own cocktail is fine, but the cocktails werent good at all. Its very expensive, and I would rather spend that money and get 4 excellent cocktails made by a bartender elsewhere. The food is just snacks which werent tasty at all. Lastly, we were asked to leave at 10pm sharp even if we werent done with our drinks. But they were closing apparently... They add a 20% gratuity to your bill, even though there isnt really any service, as you do your own cocktails.Staff was friendly and welcoming (until we were asked to leave), but as said, its very expensive for what you get.
Such a great experience! My partner and I came to celebrate our anniversary. At first we were surprised that we didn’t have our own table, but it ended up being lovey chatting with our table mates. Fun to play with wands and mix potions. Zach B was a great potions master and everything went smoothly. Super fun, would highly recommend!
Sabrina made sure all of your potions were perfectly crafted and made sure we had a “Gorgeous” experience
The drinks were delicious! For the price, it would have been nice if we could have each had a magic wand for the sitting (it was limited one per table). I had to give my credit card on hold to receive the wand. When we asked for the check, they did not bring back my credit card. We were prompted to pay for our food with a different card. I returned later that evening to retrieve my card on hold. Id definitely recommend instructing your servers to bring credit cards on hold back with the bill, or offering to charge the card on hold for the food bill. Other than that it was a fun girls night making potions. We especially enjoyed the thyme based cocktail.
Our server was Zach and he was a delight, the staff were very attentive and wore a smile. 10/10 bar for anyone looking for some weekend fun.
10/10 experience. Our waitress (I can’t remember her name but my boyfriend said maybe Sam? Although I don’t think that’s right either lol) was amazing. She was very accommodating, easy to joke around with and helpful. She had a very good spirit and really made our experience fun. We did the Halloween potion making class and had wonderful drinks. They were tasty, fun to make, and strong! We definitely left feeling ourselves. Our bartender at the end was also super chill. We asked for pumpkin espresso martinis to end the night but they no longer had the pumpkin so she made us some kind of Cocao espressotini concoction which was very good. Food was also good but just expect bar tapa’s. Not a large menu but good enough for the end of the night! Overall, we enjoyed every moment of our time here and I will 100% be coming back in the future. (I’d def buy the membership for each holiday if I lived closer)
Honestly so fun. The drinks are delicious and the appetizers were really good. Would def recommend and go again.
