Andys Jazz Club lives up to the hype. We decided to visit after hearing its a must-visit dining spot in Chicago. While we were initially drawn in for the live music, we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. The calamari was fresh and perfectly cooked, and the steak, cooked rare as I like it, was tender and delicious. Overall, the experience was absolutely worth it. Whether with family, friends, or a date, Andys is a great choice. The service was professional and added to the overall enjoyment of the evening.
First I’ll say that the performers were really good. We wanted to be away from the stage in case the sound was too much. Bad idea. I wouldn’t recommend the high top seating in the back. You can’t really see anything if you’re in the far right corner and you’re right by the kitchen so the squeaky door is constantly swinging open. I would also pass on the food which was expensive but not that great. Maybe just have a nice drink.
The food is very good and plentiful, though the prices are somewhat high. The show started over half an hour late, which was a bit disappointing, especially as there were no wind instruments like trumpets or saxophones as I had hoped. However, the service was excellent. Expect to spend around $100 per person.
This was my first time going to a jazz bar, so I didnt really know what to expect, but I had a really great time! I was afraid it would be super loud in here and I wouldnt be able to hear the music like it is at most bars, but thankfully everyone quieted down once the music started. Going to a jazz bar was more like seeing a performance at a theater than hanging out at a bar in terms of how people respected the music, but the atmosphere was still comfortable and casual like you would expect at a bar. The music was great, and the environment felt immersive. I had the ravioli, and my friend had the lasagna, and we were both pretty satisfied with the food. The service staff were also very attentive and helpful. It is a bit expensive, but well worth it for a special occasion.
If you are in Chicago looking for a nice hang out spot, I’d highly recommend Andy’s. First, the music 🎶 is always on point. In the video I’m sharing, the sound is loud. I sat really close. This is NOT a place to go to if you want to enjoy conversation. If you are on a first date trying to get to know a person, I’d say skip this place and come back if you make it to date 3 or 4. People try to talk over the music and it just sounds like their screaming. Nice vibe, decent drinks and good food. The seating arrangement is a little awkward but other than that it’s a great weekend spot. Oh, and please tip the musicians. They do such a good job.
This place is an absolute must! Being able to eat incredibly delicious food while listening to live jazz music was so amazing. The truffle steak cut fries, braised beef short ribs and the shrimp risotto are hands down the best dishes here! Plus the amount of food you get was plenty!! Highly recommend.
Great live jazz performance. A reservation is required. A cover charge is collected at the entrance. The hostess will confirm your reservation. If the table you reserved is not ideal, always ask if another option is available. Wednesday night features the amazing Charles Heath Quartet. Go for the music and atmosphere, you will not be disappointed.
Andy’s Jazz Club was an absolutely HIT! THE HYPE IS REEEAAALLL! If you’re looking for a full cultural Jazz experience, Andy’s Jazz Club is the place to be! LIVE music is always good dopamine to flood the brain cells!. As the band effortlessly sway the audience into a night of jazzy euphoria! It was an ambiance experience you would want in your life! . Friday nights was the night to be! Andy’s crew was pleasant and a delight to be served by. Dee was the hostess and made sure everyone was seated appropriately and checked in for reservations. She was such a Doll. Food was 20/20, yes 20/20! My steak was bigger than a lot of steak houses in Chicago! I ordered the New York strip with sides of sweet carrots and potatoes. Also a margarita with cognac. Everything was GOODT! The place was white gloved cleaned! Pictures covered the entire walls of famous Jazz Stars. You must book reservations along with a coverage charge of $20 at the door. Nice seating and well spaced out. Well worth going! Clear your weekend for ANDY’S!!!
My boyfriend and I traveled from Philly last weekend to Chicago for 6 days. One of my must-dos was go to Andys Jazz Club and I am so happy we did. It was well worth the money, and the food was a delicious change from eating all the deep dish/hot dogs/italian beef. My bf got the steak with potatoes/carrots and I had the chicken penne (gluten free) - both were high quality, and great portions. Drinks were strong. Service was friendly and attentive. The band that played was talented. There is a $20 per person cover in addition to your meal, which is the cover for seeing the show. Well worth every penny spent! It was a great date night during our visit, and when we return to Chicago we will be sure to come here again.
The band that performed, Alectet, was a bit too contemporary for my taste. Nonetheless, they were undoubtedly highly skilled musicians and I could see the passion in their performance. Also, the view was great with how their table/bar layouts were structured - no hindrance looking at the stage. Overall, I enjoyed my time at Andys.
Randomly found this place during a business trip. Local musicians and they crushed it. Mostly played standards and leaned towards bebop. The drummer seemed like a local OG and im guessing led the group.Food and drinks were good but dont go in expecting dime dining. I had three scotch on the rocks and an appetizer for $60 before tip. $15 to get through the door. Will be back on my next trip to Chicago!
This place was great. Took a Chicago trip with the wife and really wanted to experience dinner and music.Andys was in a good location. It is easy to get to and has tons of places/bars around to check out after dinners over. For the unfamiliar, reservations are required, and you only stay for the meal and set you reserved. After that, the place is cleared and reset for the next dinner service. The entertainment was great: a nice 4 piece featuring sax, keys, drums, and bass.We were seated along the bar wall, closest to the side of the stage. The atmosphere was welcoming. The service was prompt and friendly.I would warn that the place is fairly expensive, with a cover charge just to get in, and food and drinks are fairly expensive. That being said, its all worth it for a great couple hours of music and sustenance.
We had a great time at Andy’s, but a few things could had been better.First, don’t believe in reviews that say you have to be absolutely quiet during the show. Sure, they say in the beginning that they have a silent policy, but I think it’s just to avoid loud people to be yelling and ruining the show. I had dinner and talked to my husband the entire time, other tables were doing the same. There’s no problem as long as you’re not yelling. The food is fantastic, we both loved our dishes. I just didn’t like the rush. We had reservations for 8:15. We ordered an app and they told was to also order the main dishes because it was the last call from the kitchen. I didn’t like to be so rushed. Same for drinks, last call was so fast that I couldn’t order a second one. I thought it was too early for that. The service was good and fast though. The show was good and very entertaining.
We always have an amazing time at Andys! The staff, from the door guy to the bus boys are friendly and efficient. I was surprised by the food, its great! And of course, you cant beat Andys for the best jazz in Chicago! We go here often, at least twice a month. My favorite is the Abney Effect (Mario Abney is not just an unbelievable trumpeter, but he has amazing energy and really engages the crowd) and Micah Collier. Dont miss either of them if you get the chance! Oh and the deserts rock!
Make a reservation and just go! It’s such a great experience all around: food was delicious and the waitress gave the best suggestions! The jazz band was superb, such great artists! We were seated right in front of the band , select the main seating area when making the reservation. We will definitely visit again when we come to Chicago!
Great venue and fun place to get away. The music will be as good as the band playing but always nice to have good live music. The food is reminiscent of prepared wedding food so its okay but more to have something while you partake in the ambiance. The drinks are fair at best abs Id avoid the Old Fashioned.Worth the cover to sit back and enjoy the music and space.
Andy’s Jazz Club offers a fantastic experience for music lovers. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a well-designed space that perfectly complements the live performances. The jazz music is top, featuring talented musicians who create a great atmosphere. Whether youre a jazz aficionado or a casual listener, Andy’s Jazz Cluv is a great spot to enjoy high-quality music and a pleasant environment.
Special night for a jazz fan, booked a high top on-line, had a view of most the stage. Good music, Andy is playing on stage. You can probably check in a little early to order dinner, though service is very quick to close you out by the next show or within 1.5 hours. Good classic Italian food choices and good local beers. Accessible restrooms.
Great atmosphere and lively jazz. Really enjoyed the evening and overall experience. The staff is very efficient with fast attentive service to minimize distractions from the music. Food was fine but we came for the music!
This jazz bar is simply the best in town. Checking show times on their website and making a reservation through OpenTable for a $15 admission fee is absolutely worth it. The staff is friendly and professional, and the food and drink options are satisfying. The interior design and vibrant ambiance create an amazing atmosphere. If you love jazz, this is a must-visit place in Chicago. Immerse yourself in the world of jazz bliss and let the mesmerizing live performances transport you to a different era.
The music was spectacular-vibrant, energetic and downright jazzy!!The service and food absolutely exceeded our expectations. We started with the artichoke dip served piping hot. I had the Cajun prawn risotto - wow! Tasty and flavourful with a hint of heat again served piping hot. My spouse had the steak natchos and said they were awesome too. Drink specials brought us $2 beer and a $4 shanty which cannot be beat! All around a great time. Highly recommend.
Went for the Wednesday night jam session and had a great time! The performers were amazing. Didn’t have any food, just drinks and they were okay.
On a recent trip to Chicago, me and my family decided to check out Andys Jazz Club as it was recommended by the concierge at our hotel. When we got there, the ambiance and atmosphere was amazing. They really take pride in keeping the club looking immaculate. Our waiter was amazing with customer service and being patient with us.The downsize was the food and I thats why I give 3 stars because it was relatively decent but if I were to go back then I wouldnt order food because its a waste of money. I had the New York Strip and it wasnt cooked to order and it bland. My wife had the Andys Lounge Burger and she said it tasted like a burger you get from hotel room service. Meh!Obviously, the best part of the evening was the music and that was the real reason why we went. Even after we finished our meal we still stayed entertained by the band. Overall, leave the food alone and listen to the jazz.
Absolutely loved our visit. We celebrated our Anniversary all day together. Ended the night with some amazing food, attentive service and great music. Highly recommend! Cuddle up with your significant other and enjoy this place! We had a great evening and it ended our busy day perfectly! Thank you to the staff!
First time jazz club listeners arrived at our reservation time about 30 minutes before the show. We were seated promptly and got our drink orders taken. Ordered a couple of appetizers to nibble on. I appreciated the reminder at the beginning to keep quiet during the performance. Unfortunately there were moments where the voices were too loud especially during a solo! The music was a delight but I hope staff can be a little more strict with enforcing the listening room etiquette even if there are many tourists/first timers.
Thought the place was average. The food was unremarkable and the service was fine. I got the lasagna and felt like it was more ricotta than anything else. The performance was good because the bassist was phenomenal! I’d be curious if it would be better if I had seen another band. Overall I think if you’re not picky, go for this spot. But I think there are better places.
Andys Jazz Club, located in downtown Chicago, is an absolute must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic jazz music experience. This venue truly encapsulates the essence of what Chicago is all about. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and will definitely be returning. The live jazz performances were phenomenal, transporting me to another world with their soulful melodies. The food and drinks provided at Andys were top-notch, complementing the ambiance perfectly. Every bite and sip added to the overall enjoyment, making me feel like I was truly having a fabulous time in Chicago.
Fantastic jazz with a lovely dinner, a rare experience to dine while enjoying quality jazz!! We booked online for a high bar table for a Thursday night show, we were close to the musicians so it was great. Service is very quick so you can time to eat at the same time the music starts. We were there for about 1 .5 hour, then you have to leave before the next show starts, seems to be how these jazz places work in Chicago.
It is a very nice atmosphere. However a few things got misconstrued During our visit. We made reservations for a party of 10 and we had 6 people that actually attended. This was a great birthday celebration for one of our relatives. We brought in a cake and it was not fully explained to us that there would be a charge for just bringing the cake in whether we had the waiter cut it or whether we cut it ourselves. We chose to cut the cake ourselves. We were charged A $20 extra fee just to sit and eat a cake after weve had a very expensive dinner. The manager used a very aggressive attitude with us when explaining how the policy went. I did call him back to tell him that I was not very unhappy about the extra charge that we had to pay. After enjoying the environment and a very superb show by the musicians I feel like we were Uncomfortable with the demeanor of the manager. The other issue is that some of the food that they served one of our parties was undone and had To be returned. The other party wasServed a ravioli dish that tasted like it came straight out of a can. Although we went ahead and paid the entire bill except for the undone food I dont think well be returning.
Visited Andys July 6th 2024, and it was not the same as the place. While the pianist was fantastic, the rest of the band, especially the singer, was not up to par. We were looking forward to some great jazz music, including a saxophone performance like what you showcase on your Wall of Fame, but there was none.Overall, the experience fell short of our expectations
Great atmosphere and really talented musicians performing here. The food is quite good as well! Well be back.
Nice evening, good show. The Action Bronson of the saxophone killing it in 2nd pic. The empanadas were the best even tho they were real small and only 3 came with. The lobster ravioli were alright, would have rather shared more empanadas tho. And the lettuce garnish actually added a great bit of freshness and snap eating it with each bite of the empanadas too
I had a great night here with my mother-in-law in May 2022. We decided to do something special in Chicago for Mothers Day week and Andys Jazz Club & Restaurant served its purpose. The drummer was really good. I bet he can play perfectly while he is sleeping.Price is not cheap but it was worth it. I liked my food. It was tasty and right amount.Check out my video if you wonder how amazingly ANDY BROWN QUARTET played in May 08, 2022 at Andys Jazz Club & Restaurant.
The music here was amazing. You can tell these artists are serious about their craft and its demonstrated through their artistry and expressions throughout the performance. Food was decent (sorry I didnt get better food pics.. was being greedy lol). Waiter was good. Front door woman a bit rude but other than that, I would return.
Food and drinks were good, music was amazing, manager was the worst. We were in Chicago on a business trip, I called Andy’s about getting a party of 10 business associates seated. While the manager was giving his intro of what to expect for the evening, some of the people at the next table in our party were being slightly loud. He called them out in front of the entire crowd that he was going to have a problem with them. After his intro, he came over to me at a completely different table and berated me for the other table being loud simply because I was the one who had called. Never once addressed the table who was being loud. I guess he didn’t have enough guts to address them, but he felt like he could literally yell at me about it when I had done absolutely nothing wrong. Complete pompous, arrogant, spineless jerk. Skip this place until they get a new manager that has class like the musicians and doesn’t go around yelling at women.UPDATE: I would like to say that when we were leaving and spoke to Casey, that he understood how disrespected I felt….but at-last that is not what happened. Casey has a severe case of arrested development. His idea of conflict resolution is to interrupt and talk over people and let’s not forget his tactics of deflection and flat out disrespect. I can’t even imagine how someone with a mental capacity of a 13 year old speaks to his employees, sad state indeed. I never received an apology, which is simply what I requested. He continued to lie and talk over me. He is one of those people who at all costs has to be right, not sure how that works for people working in the service industry. Bottom line, when visiting Chicago, check to see if Casey is still the manager before visiting this venue.
The music carries this place. We went on a Sunday night. There was a line to get in even though we had a reservation which is fine just make sure you’re cozy. The food was okay. The drinks took a bit at first. We didn’t come here for anything except the music and so we were not disappointed. The Andy Brown Quartet was on stage and they made everything awesome. The club sound is fantastic too. It’s a supper club setup. We got a table but they have high tops and bar seating. There’s a cover to get in that goes to the band.We had mocktails, two appetizers, desert and coffee.
You should get a reservation to have an official table. $15 entry fee at the door. This spot is so lively and the musicians are incredible. Each show runs about an hour and 15 min with a break in between. They do a good job of staggering guests so you can enjoy an entire set list. The food is decent and the drinks are good but the real focus is on the entertainment. Cant wait to come back the next time Im in town.
Andys does not offer exquisite food. This is one tick up from a bar meal. Drinks are mediocre. They need large cubes for cocktails. Service was good. Jazz was amazing, beyond that.
Went here for a birthday, great music but the experience was pretty bad. My burger was overcooked, the fries were underseasoned, the decorated cheesecake was a joke, there were multiple times my table was out of water, and my order was super delayed because of some issue with the ticket system. Super expensive and Ive had cheaper burgers that tasted better. Look for a different jazz lounge, this one isnt worth it.
Such a nice jazz venue that requests for guests to remain quiet during the live show. One can actually hear the fine musicians make great music and not just try and outplay the audience noise. Standard and bar seating are choices on OpenTable, reservation strongly recommended. Love the option to dine or just have drinks while listening to live jazz, mandatory $15 pp seems like a good deal.
We are so happy to have found this place! We had the privilege to attend a live jazz concert last Tuesday while enjoying our dinner with our teenager son, it’s not easy to find a jazz club that accept minors. The Windy City Ramblers are amazing musicians! Thanks to Andy’s staff for its welcoming and outstanding service.
The music was good but the atmosphere was not really enjoyable. Waiter was rude. We were rushed to pay 30 mins before the show ended. Expensive and not good food.
Great servers, generous wine pours, and decent jazz music. The risotto was good but could use a bit more seasoning. Maybe I went on the wrong night, talented musicians but the music was alright.
Amazing experience! We went to celebrate our 14 year anniversary and it was exactly what we hoped for.The Mario Abney Effect was such a pleasure to watch, very engaging with the audience, amazingly memorable songs, and lung capacity for days!We went into the experience knowing that you go to Andys for the music, not so much for the food. Having said that though, we loved the short rib, it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Served aside broccolini, which was so fresh and crispy, and fingerling potatoes with a nice hint of ginger. The calamari, truffle fries, and Parmesan chicken were okay, but I would give them a miss when we visit again.Wine selection isnt the greatest either, but I appreciate Andys keeping their food prices reasonable, along with a reasonable cover charge to pay for world class musicians like the Abney Effect. This is our new favorite spot for special occasions and treating any visitors to a true Chicago experience!
Wonderful experience. We saw a jam session on a Wednesday night. Really loved it. Highly recommend!
Andys is a reputable Chicago jazz club that has been an upstanding venue for decades. Local jazz talents are frequently featured as well as other invited artists and so there is always quality music and the positive vibe between patrons and the musicians is palpable. Bar service and table service are both highly attentive with a large variety of cocktails and even mocktails. Dinner options are excellent. My only recommendation would be to not include gardinera mixed in with the calamari...
We were a big group, and the manager was extremely rude from the beginning. He assumed that we would be noisy and made a public announcement about it. The show was great, the food was below average.
Andys Jazz Bar offers a quintessential Chicago jazz experience thats as vibrant and soulful as the city itself. Nestled in the heart of the bustling city, this iconic venue boasts an intimate yet electrifying atmosphere, where every performance feels personal and immersive. From the moment you step inside, the rich history of the place envelops you, creating the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable evening. The talent here is top-notch, featuring a diverse lineup of jazz musicians that keep the spirit of the genre alive and swinging. Coupled with a great selection of drinks and a cozy ambiance, Andys Jazz Bar is a must-visit for anyone looking to savor the authentic sounds of Chicago jazz, making every night a celebration of music, history, and community.
The Jazz Club was such a great place for us. The most interesting part was the performance of a Jazz team. The dishes quality was also enough good but I think the performance should be lastes longer than the current show time because I felt the time flys so fast. However, the number of server looked being not enough. Anyway, in overall aspects of this club, I want to give four stars among five stars. I recommend the visitors to visit this place. FYI, you should make an appointment to have a great dinner with a fantastic Jazz show.
One of my favourite Chicago venues. Great drinks, great food and outstanding musical talent. I visited on a quiet Sunday eve after a late Bears game and enjoyed a wonderfully intimate experience in the hands of Manny, Mike and Juan. Tye watched over the tables very well, ensuring everyone had exactly what they needed. Do visit at least once while you are in town!!
Great Jazz Club. Place was packed and reservations were a must. Food included some great salad choices and the blackened chicken was good. Drinks were decent size and the vibe was amazing. They have a quiet rule so not the place to go if you want to talk to friends,,, you are there to hear the jazz. Musicians included a 5 pc band and were outstanding. My group of 4 had a great view and we really enjoyed the evening.
Being from Chicago, it’s easy to take for granted what my hometown has to offer. There are many places authentically “Chicago” whether you live or visit here, and Andy’s is definitely a Windy City institution. The Christopher Lucas Wilson Trio was the featured band for the last jazz set, and they were superb. Equally superb was the quality and flavor of Andy’s wonderful food and great cocktails. There’s a vibe here like nowhere else. The staff does a swell job keeping things moving with attentive service. For a good time…no place like Andy’s!
Great jazz club! Worth every penny we spent! JR was a great server and the jazz was awesome! Great vibe!
Great show by talented musicians. Wait staff were great but the food was bland and disappointing. The main issue however was the manager who was extremely rude to oversees guests. Won’t be bringing a group there again.
We did not order food and I think most of our party had 1 drink. Unfortunately, the manager (?) was exceptionally rude which appears to be a common experience for many who have submitted reviews. Since the concert, we have learned that Andys does not have a good reputation in the jazz community. To their credit, they were very responsive to direct feedback via email, and promised to address it. I hope that they do because Romel Smith and company were truly inspirational, and the venue has potential.
Fun spot! Drinks were solid, the music was great. Can’t speak too much on the food as we only got dessert. Definitely recommend getting a reservation ahead of time too.
Food was great. Music was awesome. Cocktails were pretty meh. Overall, we had a great time. Highly recommend.
Great music, Great food and great staff! I called to find out details about a show September 1st. They gave me plenty of details and were very friendly on the phone. Our waitress was excellent, even on a busy night! All around wonderful experience and vibes! A nice little venue and great place for date night!
This is the first of 3 music venues I visited the same night. Atmosphere was decent and had an ok crowd. The band was good and the view was good. I wish they enforced the no talking during performances rs policy as I was very distracted by a foursome sitting near by as. They were more interested in talking to eachother. Wait staff was friendly and menu was decent. This club is in a more touristy part of town so it didnt feel as intimate and warm.
I had an early birthday celebration here on Saturday, March 3. The club is nice and spacious, and they made sure to accommodate my entire party (16 people). They were a bit disorganized with the check, and we had some miscommunication about it, but it ended up being fine. The music was incredible as well, and my entire party raved about the food! Id definitely go here again!
Possibly the rudest bouncer/doorman I’ve ever encountered. Being from out of town, I didn’t time my arrival well and showed up about 15 minutes early. The bouncer informed me, firmly, that I wasn’t welcome yet, and when I asked if it was possible to wait in the entry (it was cold outside), he let me know I could form a line outside. I went to another bar to get out of the cold and when I returned later, he continued with his attitude.Fortunately, the rest of the bar staff was pleasant, and the band was good, or I would have given only one star.To make things even more obnoxious, the house for the late set was only half full. I expect they could have seated me early, and I might have rung up a larger bill.
It is a place where you can enjoy great jazz music, food and atmosphere. Seats must be reserved in advance, or seated at the bar if not reserved. You can also order food at the bar. Admission $ 10 is basic. Usually after 8pm or 8:30 pm, the first part ends and there is a break of about 30 minutes, so it is good to check beforehand. If youre lucky, you can enjoy jazz with singers, but Im not allowed.
We were on vacation with my wife celebrating our anniversary and one of the highlights was coming to Andy’s Jazz Club.Beforehand I looked where was a place for jazz and on several occasions this place was mentioned so I made the reservation 1 month in advance. We were very excited, but reality hit us when we got there. Our show was at 8:00 pm, we arrived 7:30 and even before knocking the door the bouncer told us NOT TO ENTER and come back 7:45 (he did not gave explanations, not even said hi!!)So we complied and went for a drink nearby. As we returned my wife had a soft-soda in her hand and again the rude bouncer told her in the rudest manner, she could not enter with the drink (PUT IT AWAY!!!!) and that she had to exit and return. So we did.Back again, the bouncer looked not happy to see us again. We asked to talk with the manager, who casually was the person who took us to our table and explained how rude his employee was. He told us he will take of this. (Did not apologize nor offered anything else.) I hope he did really did someting. We felt very uncomfortable and the good vibe we arrived in was starting to fade. Finally in our table the service was good.About the show: there were good performers that evening but to be honest we missed there was no drummer in the band. I also think you should put a microphone on the bass (it looked he was performing very nicely, but we only heard like a murmur).Next time in Chicago I will go to another place, not returning to Andy’s never again.
We were a younger couple going here (younger 20s) and early on felt almost as though we didn’t belong and we were treated slightly differently. When asking a question about the sauces offered, the waiter, in a snarky tone, replied that they were listed on the menu and waited for us to find them (there were only 3 available). While waiting for our food, it felt as though we were being passed over. We ordered 2 simple dishes that most other tables also got and were one of the first tables to order. We then watched as almost every other table got served first (only about 3-4 people were served after us). Groups were 100% prioritized instead of first come first serve. The portion sizes were also a bit weird. The music was good but felt a little repetitive. Not something I would likely recommend to anyone under 40.
If you are looking for a very quant and intimate place for live jazz, look no further. Andy’s Jazz club is located in the perfect location. As you enter you are carded and asked to pay the $15 per person cover. After being seated in the many great seating choices, you begin to take in the historic ambiance. We ordered the calamari, steak, pizza, a drink, and the cookie dessert. Not 5 star quality food but definitely not fast food, so I was content. The band, service, and set up is definitely worth it. After a long week, it was worth it.
Great and energetic music on the Thursday night we visited. Very good calamari fritters and spinach artichoke dip. Having a variation in the seating also helped. Will go back if in Chicago again!
First time visiting Andys Jazz Club and it won’t be my last. Infectious music, an amazing atmosphere and a friendly staff. I sat right in front of the stage, best seat in the house if you ask me. The musicians were great and their sound had a really good vibe to it. The club was intimate and allows you to really feel the music. I would highly recommend you stop in and listen to a few sets! If you live in the Chicago land area and you havent visited Andys Jazz Club, what the hey are you waiting for?
The music was fabulous, the customer service was disappointing. The host sat me at a bar seat directly in front of a pole. The host was not friendly at all when I asked to be reseated at one of the other empty bar seats. His frustration and attitude were apparent. He actually rolled his eyes when he explained why he could not reseat me.After the show began, he asked the couple sitting on the window seal if they would like to move to the bar, but never asked me if I still wanted to be reseated. That did not go unnoticed. I also noticed that some seats I asked to move to remained empty for the remainder of the show.I’ve visited Andy’s and had a nice time in the past. I’ve referred family and friends to check out live music at Andy’s. I have never been met with anyone with such a dismissive attitude. Last night’s host should not be in a customer facing role. His rudeness ruined my experience at Andy’s yesterday.
Great experience with high quality musicians. The food was good, just not remarkable.
I would give 4.5 stars if I could. Staff is very friendly. Good attentive wait staff. Music was great! Food is ok - nothing great. I would come back again.
Fantastic place to enjoy music and great food. It was crowded, so the service, while extremely friendly with great attempts to be helpful, was a bit slow and sporadic. Reservations are a must. This place is a treasure and Ill surely go back.
The food is excellent, the music is fantastic but the atmosphere leaves something to be desired. Amid the music playing, if you even speak to anyone in your party, you are quickly sushed by the staff or rudely talked down to by the manager.
WOW, what an incredible experience! This was one of the best Old School Jazz Clubs Ive ever been to. Simply Amazing. The atmosphere brings you back to the early years of the Chicago Jazz scene, a place where you can easily forget the time and simply enjoy the moment, the music and great company.Super friendly staff, ready to accommodate you. Kitchen is great and by the time you realize it, while enjoying the first few incredible pieces of Jazz, your drinks and food are on the table. Prices reflect the quality of live music. Highly recommended spot, a must see and experience by tourists as well as locals. Ill be back!
We really enjoyed ourselves here. Top talent and performances. Youre herded a bit like cattle because they have multiple shows a night but I suppose that is understandable and preferable because everything was on time and on point. We will definitely be coming back. Only spot for improvement would be the food but theyre in a catch 22 because of the time limit, it wasnt very good and way too expensive for what it is. Drinks only next time.
Get there about a half hour before the start of the show to get closer to the stage and have a more relaxed dinner. The entertainment lasted 1 hr 20 minutes. The wait staff were very efficient. Food was good. A side would have been nice with the salmon. The 6:00 pm show on a Friday was sold out. Make reservations on line.
Seating from the bar had good visibility of the stage. The band featured Marques Carroll and his ensemble, and it was great music and a decent crowd for the 6pm show on a Saturday night. Nice way to get a summer night in Chicago started. Food was good, I had Giant Prawns with polenta and aspargus. Dessert was unremarkable. Bar service was quite attentive and 💯
We are visiting from az and weren’t expecting the rudeness the lady with the blue contacts was giving us. You can get your point across in a better tone ma’am. If youre a tourist skip this you aren’t missing much.
Music is good. But 15 dollar entry fee for 1 hour music is not worth it. Food is average . Ordered Louisiana spare ribs . They were cold. Reaction after our complain from waitress Susan was poor and another waiter. When we left , disappointed from the food and service. She dared to asked for more tip and started a discussion und was more ambitious Abt her tips then solving the issue with the cold food...
I mean, where else can you get a jazz show with dinner every night? The doorman was really cool and explained everything about our experience. We were able to get a nice table right at the front, by the band. Unfortunately, my wife didnt like her drink, but drank it anyway. The food though, was quite tasty. The band playing that night was fantastic. Docked a star because our server wasnt the greatest. Never refilled out waters, didnt come back after bringing us our food, etc. Overall a great experience and it wouldnt deter us from coming back
Andys Jazz Club & Restaurant is one of the BEST spots in CHICAGO! My sister had her 40th birthday party there and it was AMAZING! The food was delicious, the waiters and staff were AMAZING! Its just an already awesome place. The energy in the building is so relaxing and therapeutic youll hate you have to leave when the time comes. Im a professional photographer and they allowed me to take pictures in which Ive shared here. The ambiance is perfect! 5 Stars 🌟 from me!
This venue has been in the back of my mind for a very long time, and today We finally got the chance to experience it!The ambiance was so cozy, artistic and romantic. Service was infallible and great! The Food and drinks were amazing! (We were pretty impressed with the short rib course)The live event made the whole experience even more enjoyable and unforgettable! What an amazing date night we just had! Thanks and we’ll be back soon! 10/10!
Make sure you make a reservation - makes everything go smoother! The live music was the BEST (we were at the 10:30-11:44pm show)! The ambiance created goosebumps! And the sax. Players they brought up were soo TALENTED! (They were still in high school!)THE FOOD, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Except... I thought the salmon was dry and the sauce wasnt that great (my friends plate)... but I did love the risotto, crab cake and calamari!side notes:$15 cover fee + 4% charge added for cleaning + tip jar for the band playing
Great jazz atmosphere and pretty darn good Old Fashioned. I’d definitely go back.
Show was amazing however the food was not as expected and the manager was extremely rude to our out of town guests, lots of live music in this town, avoid this one if you want to enjoy your evening
Perfect start to our anniversary getaway! Mario Abney & The Abney Effect had our full attention. Just excellent musicianship. The food was delicious also. We had the Shrimp empanadas and Colossal Baked Prawn. And the venue was gorgeous! I wish we had more of this in the Orlando area.
We had a BLAST! We opted to have dinner and the food was delicious. We ordered the NY strip and the portabello ravioli. Both were phenomenal. We made reservations ahead of time and I highly recommend doing this. Our seats were right in the front and it made the experience even better. The Clark Sommers quartet was so much fun to listen to and engage with after the show. If you love jazz, I highly recommend spending some time here!
Visiting a Jazz club was a new experience onto itself. Catching the midday show, the local band was astounding. The showstopper was seeing a blind man, whom I thought assumed was there for the music. Walked up stage and smashed the piano with the band dishing out classic jazz tracks. It was a wonderful spectacle. The food was good, nothing to marvel over. I was there for the music, the food was an accompaniment to the music.
Love the venue. Intimate setting. Good music. Surprisingly good food. Worth your time.
First time in a jazz club. Great experience. Loved the music and service. The food was OK. Had the nachos. When I return to Chicago, I will visit again.
Had an amazing time at Andy’s jazz club on Saturday! Every seat offers a great view, and the dinner was fantastic. I tried their gluten-free pasta, while our friends enjoyed the braised beef and salad. The lava dessert was a hit! Service was outstanding. Definitely a top spot – would highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
It was our first time in a jazz club...everything youd imagine a jazz club to be, Andys is! It has an intimate vibe but not cramped. The prior day, we reserved a table via Open Table for 15 minutes prior to the start of the first session...good call!...and asked via a text in our reservation, if there was a cancellation, if they could switch our reservation from a high top to a standard table nearer the stage...and they did! We had excellent seats...though really, not a bad seat in the house. We were one of the first tables seated. The waiter quickly came to our table and took our orders. The music was spectacular! We felt like we were experiencing the REAL Chicago jazz scene as it was meant to be experienced. The food was good and appropriately priced...I think I even wanna try my hand at home with the Cajun shrimp and risotto. This evening was the crowning touch to our visit to Chicago. Having never experienced this but thoroughly enjoying it, Im now going to search out such scenes in our hometown. Thanks, Andys!
Andys was an awesome place! Loved the live jazz band that was there. The host was wonderful as well and was more the willing to help me get a closer table. I ordered a burger, it was decent, but definitely over priced. Overall the atmosphere and music was definitely worth it. As a jazz fan I was delighted in the experience!
It’s a bit tourist-y, but if you go here with the right expectations you’re almost certain to have a pleasant evening sipping cocktails against the backdrop of some truly talented local musicians.I wouldn’t come here for the food, and I actually recommend just getting a few apps and having dinner somewhere else either before or after. The ambiance is best suited for the last stop of a date night or a laid-back introduction to Chicago for first-time visitors who enjoy listening to soothing live tunes.Be forewarned that out of respect to the performers, you’ll be asked to use your indoor voices when having conversations - which is another reason to make sure you have dinner plans scheduled either before or after…unless you and your partner hate speaking to each other, in which case this is a *perfect* place for you.An ideal lounge-y spot for listening, sipping, and snacking, but not the place to go if you feel chatting, laughing, or having a satisfying sit-down dinner.
Wow. Words can barely describe the quality and heartfelt soul of the music we heard at Andys last Saturday. Christian McBride and his band killed it, and guest vocalist Meagan McNeal was on fire. Im kicking myself for all the years I walked by this place and said maybe next time. Next time Im in Chicago, Ill definitely be back.We loved the fact that management encourages a quiet room with no talking while the band is playing. The food was also very good. I enjoyed the stuffed beef roulade (a definite do-again, with a very addictive sauce) and my partner loved the parmesan crusted chicken.
Andy’s was a last minute choice that turned out excellently for good food and excellent live entertainment. They’re sticklers about ID even though we were clearly above the 21yrs old but the service, food and wonderful jazz quartet Leonard _______? exceeded our expectations!
We are a long time, repeat customers, and have always enjoyed coming to spend an evening listening to great jazz, enjoying the food and drinks at Andys. The jazz talent is still there, but for whatever reason in the past year or two, their business model pivoted for the worst. You pay the $15 cover, and then rushed through your meal or drinks, only to be assured out the door after the band finishes its set. Rather than an evening of jazz, ts now like attending a little tiny concert with mediocre food. Im sad to say, but well be taking our business to one of the many other fun, jazz clubs, that still remain in Chicago. For example, The Green Mill is awesome and a great night out...
A place for Crazy jazz fans only. Entrance fee and cash only. That is, I don’t even have the opportunity to just look into the hall and understand: I like it or not, until I cry. Table reservation for 2 hours. Then pay again or leave. Portions of food and drinks are as small as possible, and prices are high. I have never seen such a greedy establishment in all of America. I don’t understand why this place is listed in tourist guides. Most boring. I couldnt even listen to the end. I left. Choose anything but this place for your evening and you wont regret not going 100%. I give 2 stars and not one only because nothing related to COVID-19 is required here.
Amazing place, not too expensive for food (that was good, at least the Ny strip). We had a great time watching Andy band!We will be back
Nice atmosphere & good jazz music, but please book ahead the spot, otherwise there wont be any chance to get there. You have to pay an additional admission fee to enter the place & enjoy jazz music, even if you have a reservation. The staff works very professionally & fast.
Nice food, nice music. Make sure you book in advance -- and join the queue//ine anyway when you get there even if you have booked. That is how it works.
Jazz music was fabulous, I would give 5 stars of it but unfortunately the food only deserves 3 stars.... next time if I want to come and visit this place again, I will go somewhere else for dinner first and come here for a drink and enjoy the music. Also, you are allowed to enjoy the music for 2 hours only, $15 admission per person to enter...... just doesn’t sound like a good deal to me
This place sucks. Came to celebrate a friends bday we were not loud but were harassed because we talked. Of course the music was Loud so we spoke a little loud. No one was drunk or voiceturous . Will not ever come again. Enjoy a silent time.
The most overrated place of all.Uncomfortable seats, nasty , rude and low class staff / server. Bad viewing w pillars blocking the stage. Unfriendly overall environment.Marketed to attract tourists , get reservations, seat customers , and bring their food in a fast systematic way with no concern to customer satisfaction.Drinks ( mojito) was terrible , Food is served in a small amount for what you pay.Got up and left early, and right behind me , 3 other couples did the same.Do not waste your money here. Worst experience ever.
Reasonable drink prices, great music! Food was a bit pricey but looked great
The prawn and polenta dish is up there in the top 10 meals I’ve ever eaten. The band we saw were excellent. Great service. Took off one star as the reception is a little militant, make yourself aware of timings as a bit of a conveyor belt of sittings. Don’t arrive early, they’ll send you away. There’s also a 5 minute arrival grace period and you must finish and leave at the end of your time slot, so don’t order last minute drinks that you can’t finish.
The food was the highlight for me. I got shrimp empanadas and a chicken sandwich with fries. The empanadas came with a spicy sauce and the sandwich had avocados and saluted green pepers. I dont really like the taste of alcohol but the bartender made my drink really good. They were sold out the day I went. So no walk in allowed. $15 to get in.THEY PLAY HIGH ENERGY JAZZ.I was coming to hear some soft relaxing jazz. So I was a bit disappointed. But if u like the high energy ,fast stuff this place is for u. Also they ask you not to talk when playing.
This is a great place if you love jazz. Only thing is that it is very difficult to find a table. It took us around 1 hour 15 mins to get a table. So make reservations before you go. Also, I feel that an entry fee of $15 is too much. It might help in having a classy crowd though. The crowd here is mostly 40+
This was my first visit to Andys and although I have mixed reviews, I think the Jazz set was REALLY nice and our group enjoyed it.Our dining experience was just ok. I think the waitstaff should be a bit more pleasant when serving food. Instead of asking who ordered a dish & passing plates down a table, the plate should be placed in front of the person. We had to remind our waiter that he only placed starter orders for part of our group and forgot to come back and complete our dinner order...You only get 2 hours to dine.I really enjoyed the short ribs. They were really tender. Someone in our group ordered the taco trio and i was able to a try a little of the meat in each taco. The pulled pork waa the best of the trio, and the chicken & fish were a bit under seasoned.I first ordered a glass of red sangria and was disappointed because they filled the 12 oz dbl old fashioned glass with a ton of ice. Our waiter apologized & said Thats how they make them...So I ordered a house cabernet and wished I ordered it initially.Great atmosphere for some jazz, but the service doesnt match the entertainment.
Fast service and great jazz. Food was good too. The waitstaff were very efficient and were always one step ahead of the guest, refilling drinks and taking orders. I can’t wait to go back!
Our winter trip to Chicago with family was a delightful experience. We tried a total of four dishes, and all of them were excellent. Having dinner while listening to live jazz music playing right in front of us was truly the highlight. Although the time was limited to 1 hour and 30 minutes, overall, we are very satisfied. I would love to visit again.
Ive never been to a jazz club so it was kind of the first time for me. And what a surprise ! That was stunning ! The show was incredible and the band as well. Everything in the jazz spirit. The group recognise also some people who played music in the audience and asked them to play together ! I will definitely comme back another time ! The entrance cost 15 dollars for a 1 hour and half show and this is more than worth it. Dont forget to tip the band if you really liked it !
I got the pasta which was decent, but the music and the hospitality was top tier. Would go here again, if I didnt live 3 provinces away.
We visited this Place last night The Wife and I and I must say it was Great, The musicians were really good and the food was good as well, we Both ordered Burgers and we both were really surprised how good it was, Service was fast and Quick depending what time you go cause it is another show afterwards, I definitely recommend getting the High Top Seating area, Overall this exceeded our expectations and we will definitely go back
The live band was very nice and different. My cousin made reservations for her birthday and the waitress was supposed to bring the cake out but she didnt. Also, she spilled water on my brand new outfit. Other than that, it was a good experience!
Very nice. Enjoyed the music and great service. Felt rushed to eat and get done during the set. Would prefer a more relaxed no rushed atmosphere. All in all good but prefer a slower pace.
