Wasnt busy when I went as it was a scorching hot weeknight in Phoenix. But I appreciated the cheap drinks and friendly crowd. Met and chatted with some cool people. Also cool that they allow guys to play in certain areas, like old school gay bars.

I thought this place was accepting of everybody turns out they hate women. My friend group of 4 women came in for Karaoke night. When we walked in we were the ONLY women in the bar. We’ve been to Anvil before for Karaoke and have always had a great time. This last time we went we were discriminated against due to being women. Apparently cheering on other fellow karaoke goers is against the rules and you will be scolded. We were yelled at by the bar tender stating we were too loud and “everybody” was complaining. When we went to the bar tender to rectify the situation as we had no malice intended, we were scolded even more. This came to a surprise to us as we had had so many other Anvil goers come up to us and advise they appreciated our support. We will NEVER be coming back to Anvil as clearly it is a sexist misogynistic cult.

Anvil is my favorite stomping ground. A very fun and welcoming crowd, stellar bartenders, and fun theme nights make this place a must-see. Monday Funday, see you there.

The bartenders really make this place awesome. They change up the music to suit the crowd. I appreciate their contribution to the community by holding various events. They recently shortened the stage area to make more standing space - it looks great.

A spectacular place, one of the best here in Phoenix Arizona, except that last Sunday, January 7, 2024, I went at night with a friend to have some beers, the bartenders who are there daily who offer magnificent service were not there, there was a man Fat man who used to work at the Newton bar and just because my friend didnt order the beer in English, he discriminated against him with a racist gesture and he didnt sell him the beer, something that happens for the first time. I hope it doesnt happen again because everyone there pays and tips well. It is for us gays that there should not be those inconveniences, thank you and I hope you take action on the matter, happy start to the week.

Very friendly staff, lots of fun events on Fri/Sat. Becoming my regular weekend go-to! (I did not rate on food; I dont think they serve food).

As a straight female, I love coming here and they welcomed me with open arms. My friend and I, have soo much fun weve met a lot of folks here thats so nice and warm.

I’m very sad to see how bad the service has gotten since the old manger retired. He used do make sure this place was up on the service I walk in the bar tender was Busy filling up the ice didn’t say I be right with u or what u going to drink. Just keep getting ice I was like are u not open. There was other sitting at the bar with drink guess he didn’t want to service me so I wait few mins then turn walk out just SAD

I was my friends designated driver for karaoke and I was approached by a rude jerk bartender who told me that I have to buy a drink by law to be in a bar.He also said that his bar was not a bathhouse. I would have purchased a drink if he was nice and asked me nicely.Rude service and not customer friendly!!

I really love coming here but yesterday it smelled so bad in the bar like a porta potty that it was not even tolerable to be inside and I had to spend most of my night outside which was crowded and I’m assuming because it smelled terrible inside. What is going on? Smells like sewer.

I absolutely love this place! As a younger guy I wasn’t sure if this was going to be the place for me, but I definitely was wrong. Everyone is welcoming. Now that I have been going for over a year now, as soon as I walk in the bartenders are making my drinks before I get to the counter. There is no judgment here. If you just want to relax have have a few cocktails alone or socialize this is definitely a nice chill bar to do so.

First time here, Im not a big bar scene guy, but had an awesome time. The bartender was great, chatty made a great drink and had nice conversations with a few people at the bar. Was there before it got too busy, had a nice time, very welcoming.

I used to live a street over from this bar and would go after work for some drinks. The staff and patrons have always been friendly and I was always welcome. Id leave before the scene aspect of it would pick up since Im not into the lifestyle or culture. Definitely not for everyone but I did meet some great people there. Drinks are heavy handed.

Like a bar/bathhouse combo, which was perfect and what we were looking for. As a bar just to hang out at? Not so sure. Friendly staff.

My friend CJ told me to meet him there and I have never been there before, not knowing what type of gay bar it is, trusting my friend to pick a somewhat casual place to hang out, oh hell no. The anvil might be a bar that people enjoy visiting but I am definitely not, without question, one of those people. Not my scene, not even close, if anybody knows me, then they would know that I would not be comfortable in an environment like that. As soon as I stepped out onto the back patio I could feel that people were definitely staring at me and not in a friendly, hi how you doing kind of way, more like, I wonder what he tastes like. I lasted all of 5mins. Then I left. I was very happy to see the inside of my camaro and left in such a hurry that I actually did a burnout and didnt mean to do it. Lol

Jason is such a great bartender, always makes me feel welcome and makes me laugh when I need it. This bar is always my go-to place when I want to relax and have an adventure. Recommend for the open-minded.

Super creepy men. Never had a good time here and one time they kicked my friend out for wearing heels. “Said you’re okay to come in but he HAS to leave” I’ve been a server for 7 years and never would talk to a customer like that. Super unfriendly staff and toxic masculinity. Not a safe zone at all.

Walked in at 12:00 a.m. on March 7th to a fairly quiet bar ready to have a drink, unfortunately the bartender was engaged in conversation with another customer, which lasted more than 10 minutes and resulted in me and my partner walking out and going to another bar.

Saturday bartenders are consistently annoying. They never acknowldege me when i am standing at the bar order area. i wait for them to do busy work or talk to other patrons..Monday bartender is nice and attentive.Otherwise this is a fun and popular place.

Never even entered here, but had an incident with one of the patrons awhile back. Just wanted to share that you shouldnt drink and drive or even be driving to the bar if youre already drunk. Judging this place by the reviews its uh..... definitely not for me, but sounds like people enjoy it, so 4 stars

If you like a leather bar to go to that has good dance music on Friday nights. They always make good drinks everyday of the week. The bartenders and staff are very knowlegable and the clientele is very friendly and good-looking.

Came here on a Tuesday because I wanted a drink and the bartender very very rudely told me he couldn’t except my ID because it’s vertical which I understand but instead of just leaving it at that he tried to take it and went on a long spiel about how it was fake just because it’s an out-of-state ID. Keep in mind there’s people in the bar and he’s making a scene. Awful experience and it smelt bad not even the good musky bad just bad.

Gross, just gross. Dont waste your time with this place. If youre looking to have a good time and to see hot bears and hot muscle dudes then this it not the place. Bartenders are not friendly. I didnt see even a single decent-looking MAN here. Not even a man. Its the old girls club and boring as hell. This is not the place for a younger and masculine dude.

Was my first time visiting and I felt relaxed, normal and safe. It was fun seeing what this gay bar was about. Would LOVE to go again but on pup night to see what thats all about.

I went to Anvil on a weekend afternoon to meet some friends. I wasnt sure what to expect because it is in fact a mens leather bar and I went in there wearing khaki shorts, white loafers, a linen top -- basically everything not leather. Lol. Gotta admit, felt more than a bit awkward.Well... Everyone in there (mostly men) was very friendly, the bartender absolutely hilarious, he made good strong drinks, good music selection, and he is officially my favorite bartender in Phoenix.

Today was my first time here. I now have a favorite bar. From just walking in the bartender and customers made you feel very welcome. Everyone is super friendly. I will be going here instead of the other bars

Wanna be leatherbar, no billiards lots of room outside for ALL the smokers....then the smell filters in. Bartenders are not the best, if your a new patron dont expect a welcome of any kind as the only thing they care about is money. .....lots of go go boys without smiles that have no desire to DANCE other than JUST stand and wiggle for eye candy which brings in the crowd for the ones that Do not get any pleasure.Once the go go boys are gone. ...the crowd filters out leaving behind a small inventory of smokers. .......just saying.

Was a little stressed while also dealing with lots of anxiety and stopped in for a couple of drínks. The bartenders definitely helped in settling my nerves as they seamed to have some heavy pouring hands.Thanks guys.

The drinks can be a hit-or-miss. But the crowd is always welcoming and kind of touchy but thats okay with me 😝

Fun leather type gay bar. Environment is great and exciting. Go-go dancers were very friendly. Bartender closest to the entrance is the best.

Never a bad time! Even my days off it is the only place I want to go to, to be at. We are a family. And we care and love our customers. There not a thing we will not do for them. This is our home! The gay family that has a bar that is a family also! We are lucky. Very Lucky!

Anvil is a chill place and a very laid back attitude. It is the Levi and leather gay bar in Phoenix but dont let deter you. The bartenders are friendly, drinks are inexpensive, and there is something different each night of the week. Monday nights, underwear nights, are very popular. Keep an open mind when you come in, no judgement.

Pleasant waiters. Comfortable setting. Music was perfect. Need more diversity in on screen meat though. Turkey and chicken breast gets boring after a while. Try pheasant, beef, thighs, lamb...would probably draw line at fish.

Its the only leather/Levi (gay) bar in town. Nothing to compare it to. If you like bears and men in leather youll like it.

Wow, I left for a moment with the beer out and I didnt know it was prohibited because there is no sign that says that and when the Hispanic bartender came in he simply asked me to leave in the most despotic and rude way, even when I asked him He would only let me order my Uber and wait for it inside, he still took me out.
