Last night was my first time visiting this bar and for the most part I was very happy with my experience. The bartenders were fast and friendly, the patrons were kind and courteous, and the drinks were good. The bar layout is a little confusing to navigate; I had trouble telling the bathrooms apart and couldnt tell what doors led where. The thing I was most excited about was the karaoke.Cue Shawn. Shawn dominated the karaoke list with the help of the DJ and made it so that he was pretty much the only one singing. People who were obviously his friends got to sing a few songs while anyone else who put a song in basically had to sit there and hope they got a chance. My friend put in seven songs and only got to sing once at the very end of the night. I watched the song order for thier songs only to watch them get pushed further and further back because Shawn went to the DJ and skipped the line so he could sing. He did this to everyone who was waiting. By 11pm the karaoke area was half empty because people realized that they were never going to get to sing. This is horribly unfair to the regulars and a poor impression to leave upon a new patron. I was told that Shawn is the host and that last night was his birthday but this is no reason to dominate an event that is supposed to be for everyone. If Shawn wanted a night that was solely about him he could have held a private event and allowed everyone to have a chance to sing and enjoy themselves.
Always friendly staff and drinks are reasonably priced, I love that they have karaoke it seems, like every night. and the bar does a lot for the LGBT community working with other groups... fundraising and donating wow the shows that are offered in the back, feature pretty much all the top performers in the drag scene here in Phoenix and Ive even seen them bringing outside names
It had been a few years since I had last been here but I came a few nights ago for a dart tournament with my friends. During the tournament, their back lounge was open and I had a great time ! The service was very friendly, everything was clean and up to date. The parking can be a little thin if they’re really busy, but they still had a few open spots when I went. Very enjoyable experience and plan to return very soon. Thank you.
Walked in and the actual bar area is tiny, dark and sad. Walked into the connecting room and it was very small with a small stage in front. (Did I say small enough?). We walked out.I had imagined this place bigger by the reviews. It did have a stage for performances, but now having been there, I would pass on any show as it would feel claustrophobic.I hear there is a patio but never saw it. Is there another room to this place that just wasnt open?
I bought 1 $7 drink throughout the nigh on4-10-24 and I got charged $30 on my card !!!! FRAUD
DO NOT COME HERE UNLESS YOU ARE A REGULARFrom out of town. Bartender was festive. Arrived around 445PM asked about happy hour. Was a chore. Decided not to go with happy hour since rail/house was poor quality. In particular tequila was the cheapest with lowest agave content. Discussion on domestic beer was a hassle since it was guess then get an answer. Asked if had certain tequila they did but was a hassle for them to open and use. Mind u the bar is empty at this point. I ordered a double, price not bad but I am from San Francisco ( but born Midwest). We got through that. Reason for 2 stars is when I wanted a refill went to bar stood patiently to where the bar tender was speaking to customer for over 10 mins he eventually closed that customer tab and went to other end of bar to wait on new arrivals he was friends with.Do not come here unless you are a regular
Fun with a capital F! The reviews, and website are correct, all are welcome. They have drag shows followed by karaoke. I showed up for karaoke. It was a blast. They are busy so the rotation is long so if you are looking to sing a lot, you may be disappointed, but the atmosphere and the people make it worth just hanging out. There are two sections. One for the bar and the other for the the stage. Its is in the back. There is not table service during karaoke so make sure to grab your drink before you head back to grab a table to wait your turn to have your off, off, off, off, off Broadway debut. Have fun, drink responsibly.
My 3rd bar for the night. Courteous bar tenders. It has a separate room for their drag shows. It has a nice outdoor AC, keeps outdoor patio somewhat cool for the night. People seems to be enjoying their time here. Good place to visit and to re-visit.
The best place to go and you can 100% be yourself, the staff is great and the drinks even better. The patrons are all friendly and the atmosphere is perfect and laid back. There is also karaoke on Friday and Saturday night but its in a room unto itself so if youre not into karaoke you can still come in and enjoy yourself
Cool little place that has many special (cheap drinks) and a fun atmosphere. There is also drag shows that are popular, cover typically $5 which is another section of the bar. Otherwise you can stay on the bar side and sing karaoke. I went on a Saturday night. I would come again. And if you get hungry there is a food truck out front.
The drag show is great. I loved the stage and the setup there. The bar itself is mediocre at best. The karaoke is horrendous. Nothing really impressive about this place. The bartender there was hot though. Other than that just a very cliquey place with not much to offer. Not a friendly crowd or staff. Wont be going back.
What a fun place to meet people! They have a 2 for one happy hour. Bartenders are cute, fun, and experienced. Great Bloody Marys. Clean bar. Drinks are a bit pricey. But fun place! Must go!
I went to the rock for my first bearacuda, Loved it! The bartender that served me, unfortunately dont remember his name (oil mill tat) but he was really friendly, approachable and he made sure the people he served got all there drinks all while looking like he wasnt stressed...which Im used to seeing in other bars when its super busy for a event. Other than that had a great time environment was welcoming
Theres typically a fight here, and ironically involving the same people. Watch out for a delusional drag thing, I say thing because hes far from a queen. TUNSA FUN - This person is dressed in black face pretending to be a Black Southern woman, saying that hes, laying hands or blessing people. This place is filled with racist.
Hot damn I love this place. Specifically on Saturday nights at 8:00pm with the hilarious and entertaining LADY CHRISTIAN! My wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed going to these shows and seeing local drag. Go support the locals!
The Rock is a small neighborhood type gay bar, and the staff are very friendly. They put on a lot of drag shows and hold other events. I was last there for a Halloween event including a drag show which was held outside in the parking lot. They put up chain link enclosures and charged a cover. Overall, I wasnt that impressed with this event, but have been to others in the past which were better. But they are a little on the $$$ side and entry is not free when there is an event going on. But otherwise, it is a great place for friends to gather and have a good time. Everyone is friendly here!
As far as gay bars go, youll find some over the top trendy places with poseurs sporting bad attitudes to match their bad haircuts and terrible price points. The Rock is anything but pretentious. The bar staff are genuinely good people who do their jobs very well and theyre consistently smiling. Its the same guys on the same day doing their level best to keep the crowds happy. The bathrooms are kept clean so you can translate that to mean that the rest of the place is clean as well. Trust me, as a germaphobe lesbian, that stuff matters. They actually respect and honor their women clientele. But The Rock is known for so much more. Great drinks on the cheap, Karaoke nights, and, without a doubt, the Drag Shows and Special Events.
Great drinks. .Just moved here. .locals are not friendly or welcoming. I guess Southern charm doesnt exist in the Southwest. The bartender was busy sitting with a customer and adding apps to his phone. Not cool or professional.
Super friendly staff with a very positive vibe, i didnt know it was a gay bar, but after entering i really had fun, there was a good mix of all types of folks. The drag show was also really fun, recommend for a random weekend if you want to try something out of the ordinary, depending on what your ordinary is :)
Great neighborhood gay bar with many different events and a friendly staff. Never too crowded, but enough of a crowd to make it feel like a place to be. Recommended for those looking for something low key where you can actually hear what your friends are saying to you.
I used to love this bar, nowadays its a hit or miss. The last time I was there the karaokee host was hammered (not unheard of), tugged aggressively on my beard THEN said over the microphone I need to cut it off because I am cuter without it. The bartenders are nice, but also can be weird.....and to top it off, they completely skipped my boyfriends turn to sing (or maybe the host forgot to put it in the computer because he was SO drunk. Either way, Ill spend my money elsewhere.)
Hello loves I’m searching for an all ages lgbtq+ event preferrably involving drag shows, karaoke, and other fun events for my oldest offspring, They turn 16 next month and I have always been supportive of their borderline obsession but outside of taking them to Pride I’ve never found any events for them to take part in and I want to do that for their birthday this year. I also have a 5 year old king that loves to 👗 dress up and do the most with makeup and I want to show him my full support and that he can be both my little king and a fierce queen if he wants so is any information anyone has on family friendly events would be very much appreciated
Looooovvve the atmosphere here. In my experience its not pretentious like the bars Ive visited. The people are there to have fun. And the drag show is AMAZING 👏!! Espressa Grande is hilarious 😂.
Not my favorite gay spot. Nightime bartenders think they are something more than they are. My drink was weak and my change was given in a couple of dollars and then a ten and twenty. Guess what he got when his tip should have been bigger? Too much attitude for a dive bar. They do hold great fund raisers though!
Fun, lively crowd of mixed ages and sexes... which I like for the most part. As long as the women dont push us men out on purpose, then its all good fun. Drinks are strong and theres Carry Okie so you know youll need one or two!
Great bar to hang out on Melrose, the staff is nice and friendly. Drag shows can vary, however the majority are awesome and worth every dolla you tip! Multiple events through out the year, and pride is fun here :)
As you walk in the main entrance (which is actually a side door) please watch your step as you enter. I twisted my ankle entering.I was actually having a good night until the new bartender arrived. He was rather rude to me. Was very persistent on being in my business. Plus, Ive never heard of a place where you cant have more than two drinks in one setting. As a result of the above mentioned, I will take my business elsewhere
Mixed crowd, gets a little packed during the week days but I enjoy going when I want to get out. Nobody talks to me, they just stare alot, kinda creepy. Lol
Affordable drinks, friendly bar staff and a good location make The Rock a reliable place to grab a couple drinks on a night out. They have a well maintained kareoke list for those of you interested in singing your heart out. Ive also come here for an entertaining male strip show. The free parking out front is the icing on the cake at this semi divey gay bar.
My first time at the place for karaoke by invite from my friends. Some people here to drink, to sing, to play darts, and even bringing switch^^.
Karaoke nights are the best! Bachelorette parties hogging up the drag show, not the best. Overall, though, their vibe is chill and welcoming. Would recommend on week nights too!
Cover charge was $8 which I thought was excessive. The outdoor patio is also really packed and I dont like that you have to walk thru a ton of smokers everytime you enter and exit. But had good music and dancing
Saw Drag Queen C Swan & others at this quant club. Great performance, staff very attentive and fast with service. Ill be back! Many of my friends got to experience thus, vicariously, through me!
Great drinks, great price, great staff, great atmosphere!
Chris and Morgan are the best bartenders here. Always respectful and polite and enjoy having a good time. Wonderful karaoke nights, as well.
Disgusting Managment and disgusting ownership. Lack of carrying for health of your patrons or your employees. Keep going here and you’ll be sure to catch some kind of bug. chosen ignorance is what leads to death and community severance
Nice place to go on the weekends.. not too busy during the day to relax and patio has the outside fans and misters. Nice bartenders and decent specials during the day.
This is one of the longest-running gay bars in Phoenix. Theyre known for their drag shows and special events. Its not where I prefer to go but its good for some people.
Great show!! We all had a blast. Service was awesome. Staff is friendly. So much fun.
Great place to watch a Drag show, Hang out with friends, sing Kareoke, they have a friendly staff and great happy hour specials theres always something fun happening everyday of the week.
Great music! Large outdoor covered patio with flat screen tv find of tables. Darts, karaoke, and drag shows galore! Friend oh Facebook for schedule!
The rock is not how it sounds but its a ok place. They have a outside bar and patio that is ok . I have yet to find a gay club in Phoenix that is all that but its a friendly neighborhood like spot
Bar staff is nice and drag shows are fun. Karaoke would be great except the music and microphones are way too loud to be enjoyed.
READ: They are not allowed to take Capital One for some reason just an fyi. Wouldnt even give me water
Nice hole in the wall type bar with a back room for events and shows. Staff is very friendly and the bar is very clean. Also a big patio area to chill.
I enjoy the cabaret shows but they could use a bit more variety. I like that you can go outdoors and lounge with friends.
This show is a blast to attend. I have laughed so hard with my friends. We make the trip down from Prescott just to see the Barbara Seville show and we will continue to in the future.
Good gay bar. Glad u trat us girls equal. Roundup Saloon in Dallas Tx not a fan do not visit very shady
I love this bar. The staff is always so kind. Shows are also fun.
Its not that this bar is bad in terms of customer service and alcohol selection. Its just a small little dive bar with not much to offer. At best this place is okay
Used to live right behind this place. Enjoyed many nights of karaoke and beer. Really cozy place to be entertained by other locals.
Its okay kind of small and stuffy I like crossdressers but when Im trying to cruise, not so much. Drinks are always pretty strong and they have shows
Went with a group of friends for a birthday bash it was fun drinks are good cheap prices Saturday night drag shows are definitely worth seeing definitely coming back
A atmosphere, fun staff and most of all, thet actually allow you to bring in your companions! Buster Bear loved it!
Went for a friends 30th last night. We had a blast. Thanks for your talent, beauty and memories. Well forsure be back!

Great neighborhood bar. Good mix of people and the drag show on Sundays is very entertaining
Fun place! Need to wait a bit for a bartender but not too bad.
Everythings great! Just wish it was a bit bigger but other than that they have great service and i love the shows!
Awesome!!! First time ever, had a great time.. very welcoming... will certainly visit next time I go home again
Dive bar, mixed primarily gay, cheap not very good cocktails. Fun, campy, but low quality shows.
Great bar service and large comfy shaded patio. Fun drag shows in separate performance room weekly
Cozy neighborhood bar, nice crowd, good energy. Drag shows and other entertainment. A pleasant surprise.
Its a great place, the staff is welcoming, the crowd is friendly, and it adds up to fun.
Friendly staff ,nice atmosphere love the drink specials,& the Barbra sevile show

Awesome place to unwind after a hectic day at the office. Cold beer and lots more.Great atmosphere awaits
Wonderful staff, friendly environment, great karaoke nights & drag shows!!
Went on a wednesday. Small group of people with a friendly bartender. I got wasted, but the good kind.
Fun bar to drink at and see drag on specific nights. Good times and great drinks!
Place hit me with overpowering stench of vomit the minute I opened the door. Some kind of karaoke comedy going on with bad singing and songs about fisting.Really???
One of my favorite bars in Phoenix. Great drag shows and drink specials.
Great bar....staff is very friendly and the scenery is wonderful.
Great drinks. And bartenders ❤ Puerto Rican food truck too. So bomb!
A favorite stopping point in the Jam Tram, large smoking patio, great shows, huge drink selection!
Very odd structure to this bar/club? Theres no flow to the environment. Kinda reminded us of an old VFW. Was there for a Bearacuda event and it was not busy. Weird.
Every time Ive been in this bar someone is always being disrespectful. Wanting to start a fight with either myself or my family. I will never return again
Always a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon. Super drinks and bartenders.
Awesome place awesome drinks 2-4-1s are the best :D
The Barbra Seville show is outstanding but Im just a nobody who sits in the crowd on occasion.
Seedy (but in the best way) neighborhood dive bar. The drinks are cheap and the music is decent.
A great place to relaxed and have a drink and watch TV, great for meeting friends.
Am I going to have to kick out that straight table -the Karoke host. I love this place

I like it. Very laid back. Better than most gay clubs!
The bar wasnt all that n a bag of goodies. It smelled bad in there will not be going back there.
Awesome bartenders and just a good crowd in general!

I loved this place, very good atmosphere, very friendly bar-tenders, it is a very fun place, in my perception I am not gay but I have come to this place and I really liked it, a lot of diversity in drinks, the patio is very good, there are many places to You can sit down and they have heating and a smoking area. There is also a very fun karaoke. I definitely recommend it and I would come to this place again. Only the bathrooms are a little dirty but its not serious.
Gay disco
