Yvonne was great. I didn’t exactly know what I wanted and she helped me find a style that was exactly what I didn’t know I wanted! The scalp massage was so relaxing and the hot towels were a nice surprise. She even finished my cut with a straight razor shave to my neck. Truly an elevated experience! I will be back!

Was my first time really taking an interest in a haircut at a quality salon. Yvonne talked me through everything I asker her and gave me the best haircut Ive probably ever had. She recommended products Id need to stay looking good. They also have great services like free neck shaves and cheaper shave trims if you just want to get touched up and looking good again. Great place and definitely going again next time. Plus Yvonne was great!

While i a little tired of the volume of emails and text reminders, I love my cut, my beverage, and the people that work at the downtown store, all five star. The massage platinum level cut is a treat as is the entire team. I hope I dont continue to get rating requests- email “volume” in general is a universal problem, right? But it’s hard not to give back to an excellent provider.

Had a half inch trimmed off my shoulder-length + hair after a wash. I was hoping to get some advice from the master stylist, but she offered none even after asking what style would look best on me. I dont think this place gets a lot of men with shoulder length plus hair. Youd expect more for the $70 I spent other than a glass of wine. Disappointed. I will be going where my girlfriend goes as she always comes back with a nice style while saving money. Well buy our own wine.

Im surprised its taken this long to leave a review for a company that I so admire. I have been getting haircuts ar Hair M over the course of 20 years, and only when Im traveling or ither circumstances get in the way have I gone elsewhere to get a haircut, and I always comparing it to them. Consistently exceptional experience where I have NEVER had a bad or meh! haircut, and the staff are always wonderfully pleasant and inviting. Highly recommended!

DORI ROCKS! My hair is pretty difficult to deal with and I have had some bad hair cuts from other places. But Dori kicked butt. Great lines, even cut and I feel amazing. I also got a beer while I waited. Front desk attendant was awesome too. All around great place.

Jess at Hair M is amazing. 11/10 every hair cut. Shes done several different styles for my hair, every time its incredible and looks better than what I had imagined. Jess is truly skilled. I usually do straight-razor hair cuts and she is an expert with this technique, Im always blown away how great it looks.

Ive learned that its tough to navigate the world of haircuts as a guy with long hair. My go-to salon is temporarily out of commission and I needed a trim, so I gave this place a try. I had been to Hair M in Lake Oswego one time before (when I had short hair) and it was fantastic. I live closer to downtown now so I decided to give this location a shot. With longer hair (past my shoulders) I generally only get about 2 cuts a year, so I really rely on the stylist to know what will work for my face shape and hair quality and interpret what Im asking for into something that actually looks good.Prior to booking I called to ask if anyone specialized in longer hair and was told anyone could do it, so I booked one of the lvl 7 stylists and figured Id treat myself with the mini spa/massage treatment as well. In short, it was all just fine, but the haircut was even a little disappointing. The stylist pretty much cut my hair straight across with no layering, thinning or shaping, and went a little shorter than what I had asked for. So I ended up with a sort of big triangle bob once my hair dried that didnt look good down or up. But Im not one to make a fuss and besides what am I going to do once the hair is already cut and gone. The massage/spa portion was also just fine, I appreciated the hand massage but had to spend a few minutes just trying to wipe all the goopy lotion of my hands and arms to the point where it felt excessive and the stylist was back at the chair just waiting for me.Ive been thinking about it for a couple months now and watching as my hair grows back, and Im pretty sure I wont be back as a regular customer. This place clearly does a great job with shorter mens cuts, but I think that as with most places that cater to mens haircuts specifically they just arent used to cutting longer hair on men... or maybe I just got a one-off bad cut on a bad day. In short, probably safe to come here with short hair, otherwise go wherever your wife/girlfriend/sister/female friend goes and youll get a much better cut for your longer hair at about the same price point.

Got a massage from JoceLynn and she is amazing. Part masseuse, part chiropractor. I have been having shoulder issues and it hasnt felt this good in a while. You can tell she truly enjoys her craft, and helping the customer. Highly recommend seeing her.

TLDR; Hands down THE best haircut Ive ever had! I will certainly be coming here for future haircuts for as long as I can.I have struggled for pretty much my whole life with trying out different haircuts and finding one that I really liked. Eventually, I just gave up and decided to just grow my hair out so that I could avoid haircuts all together. After about 8 years I decided I needed a change and stumbled upon Hair M, and I am so glad that I did. The staff and the stylist were so welcoming and accommodating which helped calm my nerves about getting a haircut after so long. The stylist absolutely knocked it out of the park with my hair cut. I opted for their standard cut option and the quality and details of the haircut I received are things that I wouldnt have ever known how to articulate when describing what I wanted. This really shows that the stylist has a deep understanding of her craft and lots of experience to be able to give me a haircut that feels like it fits me so well. After my haircut I had to stop at the store and the cashier gave me a compliment on my hair which had never happened to me before. Every time I looked in the mirror I just couldnt help but smile because I was so happy with how it looked. Safe to say they have won me over as a customer and I would recommend them to anyone that is looking to get a high quality cut.

10/10 recommend Samantha at Hair M downtown. I had never been to the downtown location and had to get a good haircut last minute and I was lucky enough to find a same day cancellation and booked it. She by far gave me one of the best haircuts Ive ever received. She listened to what I wanted and knew exactly what to do. Was flawless. I think all the ladies there are amazing from what Ive heard, but Samantha has earned a loyal client.

$80 for a high & tight haircut and beard trim in 22 minutes is simply unreasonable. Premium prices for minimal effort. I would give 1 star but they did offer me a “free beverage” and provided a 3 minute shampoo. Guess that counts for something.

They had a private parking lot so you dont have to pay for parking. A rare treat in Portland. Jessica cut my hair and did a great job! She really listened when I described what kind of cut I was looking for. She was friendly and easy to talk to while also being focused and concentrating on the haircut.

I recently visited Hair M for a haircut. I am a youthful 70 y/o women with short hair. I can say without reservation that it was the best haircut I’ve ever had. The stylist intuitively knew what I wanted and what my style is; she was the first of 4 stylists that got just exactly what I envisioned. The service was top notch and the coffee was also the best coffee I’ve had in a long time!

The facility is clean and has a good vibe. I feel pampered when I go to Hair M Portland. Samantha has been cutting my hair for years and makes good recommendations based on the time of year, shorter versus longer, etc. Thank you!

After a number of years living in Portland, numerous barber shops, Ive finally found a place that I feel happy with coming back too. Each hair stylist Ive been with has been amazing and I will continue coming back. Most recently got my hair done by Ashley who was awesome. Super kind, conversational and takes her time to ensure that you get a good cut and walk out the door with something you like. I thought she did a great job and I look forward to visiting again.Overall, Hair M provides a great experience. They only cut mens hair and they do it well. You are warmly welcomed and asked if youd like a beverage. They have beer, cider, water, etc. Good conversation and an even better haircut. Highly recommend.

Samantha trimmed my hair 3 inches and really cleaned it up to look nice. She gave me some good advice on ways to take care of it and keep it looking fresh. My hair is really long and pretty thick and generally other stylists/barbers take too much off and dont layer it correctly but Im really happy with what shes done. The salon is quaint and conveniently located. Ill definitely consider coming back the next time I need something done.

The haircuts here are worth the price of admission thanks to care and passion put into the work. All the ladies are excellent so I’ll start there…That being said, Samantha cut my hair today. I’ve had a haircut at Hair M many times, this was the first time with her. She was superb. My favorite so far. I’d recommend her to anyone. Ive gone twice and I was impressed with their professionalism, attention to detail, and really being patient and taking the time to listen to how I want my hair done. Exceptional service. They also have coffee or other drinks for you while you check-in and wait. They cared for my hair exactly how I want by slowing down to ask how I want it tailored each step of the way.

If you need a haircut, you need to go to Hair M. I have only ever had great experiences here. The staff at check in/check out are always warm and accommodating. Samantha cuts and styles my hair, does an absolutely amazing job every time, and is a lovely conversationalist. I definitely recommend Hair M (and Samantha) the next time you need your hair cut.

Ashley was great back when I lived in Portland. She really worked to understand my style and give a great cut. She also is super easy to talk to. Ever since moving I’ve had a hard time finding a haircut that compares.

I am sad that I no longer live within walking distance because this is my #1 favorite mens hair salon hands-down. A couple days ago I went in with a hair emergency, a bad cut that needed to be fixed by a professional. Samantha spent all of 15 minutes and I absolutely love it now! Kudos to Samantha!! Everyone there is always very welcoming and friendly. I enjoy just going there, but now Its a significant drive for me. I will still go in from time to time to see the people there. :) Lauren is also great behind the desk and I enjoy chatting with her over a beer while waiting for my turn.

Hair M downtown has been my go-to barbershop for my haircuts for the past 3 months and it has been a delight! Erica at the front desk always has an ice cold IPA waiting for me upon arrival, and she makes great conversation to pass the time before and after the cut. The stylist Samantha is always spot on with executing the hairstyles I ask for. I definitely recommend this location if youre looking for an upscale location for your hair care.

Once again Yvonne gave me an excellent haircut and was delightful to talk with. She is a superb hairdresser. I am so glad I found her.

Moved to a different stylist at the last minute with no warning. Haircut not that great.A few weeks ago, I scheduled online for a haircut and selected one of their master stylists. My hair is difficult and very easy to mess up, so I specifically scheduled with someone experienced. Day of, I walk in and was greeted by someone completely different (according to their website, one of their lowest level stylists - level 2). I was long overdue for a cut, so even though I should have walked out, I stayed.As expected, my hair was not cut as I had hoped. She seemed to forget what I warned her about my hair halfway through the cut. Conversation was awkward and forced, and I was frankly glad to leave.Facilities are nice, location convenient, front desk people were helpful when online booking failed to save my appointment. So that gets 2 stars. The other 3 stars were lost because after requesting a specific stylist I was moved to a newbie with no warning after I showed up, and I received a haircut I am not entirely happy with that I could have gotten much cheaper elsewhere.

Yvonne goes the extra mile and takes care of your hair until youre satisfied. Shes very consistent. Even after 3 months, I can be confident I will get the same quality service and hair cut I am looking for.

I had my first experience at Hair M last week. I had my hair cut by Kathryn and it was an excellent experience from beginning to end. When you walk in they offer you a beverage of your choice. The atmosphere is classy yet relaxed. If you schedule you are offered a free washout which I cant recommend enough. I look forward to my next visit!

This place is beyond amazing. The front desk girls are wonderful and always smiling. Tonya cuts my hair and does an incredible job everytime. Ive also had cuts by Ashley and Samantha, they are equally talented with different traits that make them fantastic.

My son and I were in Portland briefly from the East Coast, and just picked Hair M randomly from the internet. Jennifer worked us in. My son has long hair and has never liked a haircut hes gotten back here in the SE. Last week with Jennifer changed that. Plus, she was really good at communicating with him through the entire process. Jennifer also cut my hair, which while an easier and more traditional cut, was very high quality. Jennifer and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Couldnt have been a better experience, and I highly recommend.

When I was there over 5 years ago now, it was absolutely phenomenal. The service was top notch. It is definitely more expensive than your typical barber shop, but it is worth the price.

Im extremely picky about my hair stylists. With medium-long hair, I have had a hard time finding a new stylist. Natalia did an amazing job, and I will be back. Great haircut and great advice for styling/hair products. I would recommend to anyone.

All the staff is really friendly. I got paired up with Julia and she was wonderful. Im vey picky with my hair and its length and having people cut it to short or a different style then I wanted. Im happy to say that Julia cut my hair to my liking not to short and shaped it the way I like. Will be coming back next time I need a hair cut.

Just so you know the economy dosent work like when theres less money available prices go up! Worring about only yourself only leads one place, solitude. Raising your rates and lessening your stylists hours speaks volumes about your character and I would be going elsewhere from now on. The stylist did an outstanding haircut, but recieved no reward, who in their right mind would pay 50 dollars to have their hair cut at the same place twice in one lifetime. I hope Im wrong and Hair M at least followed suit and raised the stylists take home pay.

When I walked in I was greeted by Alyssas masked smiling face! She promptly checked me in and offered me a beverage, and within minutes I was in Ashleys chair where she got me back to looking my best! The scalp massage was exactly what I needed to get through the rest of my week!

I get great haircuts there, but the extras are what make HairM special. I enjoy the cool scalp massage, the hot towel, and the light back massage. I always leave feeling much better than when I arrived. Recently Audrey suggested a change in my hair style and she was right - much improved.

Hair M has their ability to transport you into a great experience. My barber, Zoe, is always friendly and I really enjoy how she knows my cut even after just a few times in. While it is pricy, its much more than a haircut. I look forward to my haircuts knowing its going to be relaxing and done right.

Seriously, if youre going to hair M Ill advise you to let Alena cut your hair. Ive tried many barbers before but Ive never seen someone this good before. She always put attention to the small details I tell her, and she is very skilled and experience on what shes doing. Not to mention her nice attitude too. Honestly, great job Hair M for having someone as good as Alena!

I have never felt more relaxed or as genuinely happy from getting a haircut as I have from getting one here. Zoe was an absolute delight, and even helped with the part I dont like to do: deciding on a hair style. She decided it for me, like I requested, and I couldnt be happier with it. In addition, I got the straight razor shave and it was nothing short of amazing. I honestly have never felt this sort of relaxation and overall feeling from a haircut before and I cant elaborate enough just how great of an experience this was.

I was complete walk-in and they treated me very well. Jesse cut my hair and it was great. I like the fact that it caters to men since there are less fruity smells with the products they used. Id definitely recommend this place to any guy looking to get a great haircut.

I have been going to this location for a few months now and it has been a great experience every time I go. The entire staff is friendly and of course the complimentary beverage doesnt hurt either. A special shout out to Catharine for being an amazing stylist every time I am there. My hair can be difficult at times but she manages to do amazing work.

Got a package here as a gift and it was quite nice. It was a little smaller than I expected from their website, but that wasnt really an issue. I drank a beer while waiting for my massage appointment (I might wait until after the massage next time as I had to pee half way through and wasnt as relaxing holding it) - but I enjoyed a nice 55 minute full body massage. Then I drank another beer while waiting for my hair cut and sat there in a very comfortable bliss.Both ladies that helped me were nice, professional, and easy on the eyes =]I scheduled a follow up hair cut as I really enjoyed the experience and services there.

Paying a little extra for a Kings Cut at Hair M is totally worth it. Been going for many, many years (started at the old downtown location). Audrey is an awesome stylist and gives a great scalp massage. If youre going to go regularly, its probably worth looking into one of their Kings Club programs.When you get there, you get a beverage of your choice (usually beer, sometimes tea). Then, your stylist cuts your hair (better than anywhere else). Next, you get a wash, scalp massage, and rinse (worth the $15 to just come in and do this). Finally, they shave your neck and style your hair. And you feel like a new person!

Ive been going to Samantha for a while now. Sometimes I dont always have the time to go downtown so Ill get my hair cut somewhere else, and every time I do, I regret it. Samantha is awesome. She takes her time, is very thorough, and makes sure its a great cut. In this case, as in many others, the cliche is true: you get what you pay for. Go to Hair M, ask for Samantha. You wont be disappointed. (Also, free beer.)

I have been going to HairM off and on for 4 years. (Took a little break when my stylist quit). I finally came back about 8 months ago and had a hair cut with Kim. We had a lot in common and the conversation wasnt dull and boring. She also has attended massage school, so the scalp massage was heavenly. I have probably had about 10 haircuts from Kim since then and will continue to patronize this establishment for its quality service. The cut really is a step above any other place and any person who cares about their appearance knows that. Highly recommended. Dont let the cost fool you, you get what you pay for.

A good place to get an above average hair cut and a beer or wine with it, for a reasonable (albeit also above average) price with a good atmosphere. Join the members club and pay for 12 hair cuts on advance for a discount, but beware of frequent turnover in many of their newer stylists. Free neck trims between visits and massage also available at additional cost.

I came in on two separate occasions. My first experience was with Lamiya who was fantastic. Highly recommend. My second experience was with Alena for a Kings cut and again fantastic and highly recommend. Excellent customer service and made to feel important while visiting. Service is outstanding for the price.

It was my first haircut there (mens). Kyle did a great job and was very friendly. The entire shop was clean and comfortable. I booked another appointment 5 weeks out before I left.

Booked an appointment for a cut during my lunch hour. I later found a promo deal with them online before coming in but when I arrived, they told me that there would be an extra $30 fee if I wanted to keep my original appointment. The promo was only for a cut with their most inexperienced staff and they only had experienced stylists available... Im sure they would have done a great job but I felt slighted and poorly treated as a potential first-time customer. Needless to say Im disappointed I wasted my lunch break on Hair M.

This place is time and time again a great place to get a haircut. Youre paying a little more but youre also getting a lot more. I walked in one day and got my haircut by Antoni, and Ive been going back ever since. Hes a quality guy that has absolute and total mastery over his craft. Would highly recommend!

Certainly overpriced if you are a SuperCuts customer.If you find value in the finer things, you will not be disappointed with HairM. Like a good restaurant, they understand why you come and cater to that emotion.Very clean facility with downtown atmosphere and attractive staff provides comfortable experience for the time and money.Walking outside afterwards I am always in a better mood and feel good about life.I have had great cuts, better massages and delicious beer elsewhere but HaiM knows how to put all this together in a unique package offered with minimal hassle.The value keeps me going back.

As I was visiting Portland for a family children athletic competition I needed a famous Portland, Oregon spot or I could have my beard trimmed and my head shaved to look like a real good hipster. Ashley took great care of me and I cannot wait until my business travel takes me back to Portland, Oregon so I can get my next trim here. Oh and by the way they even serve you a beer.

I recieved a Groupon as a gift to here; Ive been once before, and my gf thought it was a nice thing to get me. Turns out because I was a walk in for a cut once last year they wont honor it, and only certain stylists there will accept them anyways. There are plenty of places to get your hair cut around town, with much less silly business models.

GREAT haircuts, consistently. What you really pay for here is consistency. Great Clips or other discount barbers can give you a good haircut if you get lucky, but this place will give you a great haircut every single time. Plus wonderful extras and a good ambiance.

M Hair is a company that does not honor their commitments. They overbooked knowing that they wont be able to provide the services and then they try to get you to change acting like theyre short. The bottom line is they over book knowing they cant provide the service. Not reliable completely unreliable for setting appointments.

I showed up for my appointment and the scheduled stylist was sick which I understand happens but someone should have called me so I didn’t drive 45 minutes to downtown for nothing. The employee that I did talk to was very pleasant!

While price can be higher, the service you get here is terrific. Try the Kings cut on a promotion so you save money, and the next time you will want to do it again. Keep looking for more promotions to stack it so you dont have to pay extra for the Kings cut. Honestly, though, the extra amount is worth it. Ill just get a haircut every 3 months to justify it.

Got my hair cut shorter than I wanted, but after 3 days its looking really good. Very Greek royalty if I say so myself. My hair is very course and I tend to keep it longer but am enjoying this greatly

Hear me out on this formula: Call a place Hair[em] (really, lets go there!), give guys alcohol (really!), Have very purty girls flirt and touch mens heads (hey now!) and put stereotypes all over the place (Sports on TV.) Oh and ask the men to kindly not molest or harass their workers using this formula.Amazing this all works, in 2014, without lawsuits flying all over the place. This says more about the microcosm of how ridiculous humans are than actually cutting hair!And I had a great time, despite all this! The woman that cut my hair was intelligent, flirty, and did a fine ass job of doing it, telling me things about my hair that I had no idea of, a good 4 decades in now. I felt a trickle of sweat by the end of it, is it possible that all haircuts here are this laden with potentiality of sexual innuendo? I guess it doesnt matter, I looked great, I was beered up, and Groupon had one more ace in the hole.Sadly, I dont think Ill be back. Mostly because for haircuts, well--I just want my hair cut--and get the hell out of there. Might be my anxiety about aforementioned human interactions. Might be my aversion to having the worlds most awkward conversation while a woman with sharp metal utensils of death shears rapidly near your major jugulars. But ultimately it was because they spammed me after, and I dont care how pretty you bat your lashes at me, I despise spam. Sorry Charlies Angels! Fun to try!

I get my hair done here. Always good service, never have to return to get things fixed. A bit heteronormative because of male fragility around having another man cut hair, but I assume their female version Hair W only has male staff.

Amazing place! Every time I come here I am treated like loyalty. The staff is super friendly and always treats each customer with respect. Though the prices are affordable is it on the higher end but you wont be disappointed.
