What is going on here ? Crack-head just out the door screening and blocking us from getting in…Then a full of bad attitude bartender not accepting our IDs to purchase anything (I am 44, look 44, and my ID clearly show my date of birth despite the fact we are from Canada). The place is empty, sad, vibeless, and with this kind of service, will stay this way forever.Avoid at all cost.
A masked man wielding bear mace jumped out of a car and tried to mug me right as I left this bar. I was pursued by this lunatic all the way back into Scandals. The masked psycho ENTERED the bar in pursuit, but gave up when he encountered more people. I sprinted to safety behind the bar and barricaded myself in a storeroom. After I was certain it was safe to come out the bartender showed ZERO concern for my safety. He didnt ask, are you ok? Instead, he started insinuating the attempted mugging was MY FAULT and SCOLDED me for having the nerve to seek safety behind his bar during an attack. After that, I was just ignored by the staff for the next 15 minutes as I waited for my Uber. The service and beverages have been middling to horrible over the years, but this was just the last straw for me.
It is telling and disheartening that what is supposed to be a safe friendly place for gay people was in fact the least welcoming and most jobsworth place we visited in the whole of Portland. The ID rules are taken to extreme levels that nowhere else did (a common issue from other reviews i see) and it felt like they actively did not want customers, even when we went out of our way to get the required documentation (passport as only had uk driving license despite being late 30s/early 40s). Nowhere else required this and even given this there was no hint of welcomingness at all. Do better or why bother.
**Follow-Up Incident June 2nd, 2024 Discriminatory BEHAVIOR from the manager who has white hair, white and Asian mixed American Vs Foreign immigrant**Disclaimer: I was completely sober and respectful throughout this incident.I returned to speak with the owner or manager regarding a previous incident. The manager, who claimed to be Korean, stated that the bartender couldnt be discriminatory because of their background. As an Eastern Asian myself, I found this reasoning flawed. After presenting my passport, the bartenders tone became very rude and aggressive, which felt discriminatory. The manager repeatedly interrupted me, calling me rude and confrontational, and refused to listen to my side of the story. His approach was frustrating and dismissive. Its important to recognize that discrimination can occur within any racial or ethnic group, and being of the same background does not preclude someone from acting in a discriminatory manner. The manager spent a considerable amount of time criticizing me and threatened me with legal action if I did not leave immediately. Eventually, he suggested a six-month ban with conditions for my return, which I found unreasonable.I have decided to find another bar where I will be treated with respect and dignity.
Embarrassing and disheartening recent experience---Disclaimer: During this incident, I was completely sober and clear-headed. I was not rude or sarcastic in my communication.Ive been visiting Scandals regularly since moving to Portland a year ago, enjoying karaoke, socializing, and the overall atmosphere. However, on May 28th, 2024, I had a distressing experience. It was pouring rain outside, and I had forgotten my ID. Despite showing a digital ID, the female bartender with a tattoo refused to accept it, asking me to leave immediately, I wanted to try to see if I can stay to show my digital ID it was my passport photo and after she glanced at it (not an US passport here), that was where her tone took turns. And I was explained to her I come her a lot and then when the regular here it’s OK if I can stay with my ID and she said no, which was OK I was has to leave because it was pouring outside and then she starts to get really aggressive to me as I was about to call Uber. And in I was asking her nicely about was poor outside. Can she at least let me take a moment so I can have a ride.I calmly explained my thoughts in that situation and according to her, I was being confrontational but I see, she asked me kindly to leave but more humanly to stay inside briefly to call an Uber due to the heavy rain, but she insisted I leave right away, well she put the phone out to make a deal like I am being a bully here and then I’m trying to forcing a lot of stuff on her which I was just literally commonly trying to call Uber while I seeking away out of there. After I get a Uber to ride home. I was actually not taking that situation personally so I returned with my ID to salvage the evening, but upon arrival, the same bartender told me I was banned from the bar. She had circulated my picture among other bartenders, and they decided I was no longer welcome.I tried to say goodbye to Susan, the DJ, but the bartender escalated the situation, telling me to leave in a very public and humiliating manner. Despite my attempts to remain composed, I was deeply embarrassed. While I acknowledge my mistake in not bringing my physical ID, I believe the bartenders response was disproportionate. I am saddened by this experience and will miss the karaoke nights and the wonderful DJ at Scandals.I hope this review is helpful and constructive.---
The awful straight guy they have there working is rude and has no idea on how to tend bar. He will talk down to you and think hes a god send when asking for the same drink youve ordered before. As a bartender myself, I know the drinks of almost everyone, esp when its slow(which it was).
Been going to scandals for a few years now, the greeter at the door is a lovely man who always takes care of people causing trouble outside the bar, the staff is always super friendly and attentive, i’ve always felt welcomed there & always have had a good time there!Justin and sabina are such sweet bar tenders and the way they treat others is incredible compared to how i’ve seen some customers treat them!all and all- scandals is a wonderful gay home bar and they work very hard for everyone there!
People get roofied here. Pay attention to your drinks. Staff is too busy to protect your drinks for you. That being said. It tells you the type clientele they get there. Its not a safe place!!!!
To the agitated neighbors in the comments: why does the sound of queer people celebrating bother you so much? And why the not-so-subtle jabs implying theyre not working people? Most of the regulars work nightlife/service jobs that keep them awake late. Your early morning music and car horns are just as disruptive to their sleep.Anyway, great local spot for a gay lil beverage. Keep at it, Scandals!
Both the bartender, the female with tattoos and glass and the guy with mustache have bad attitude and very unprofessional. They ignored me and rudely ask me what I wanted to drink and after I got a vodka with Diet Coke, they only give me Diet Coke. This place is a scam!
Very chill place, didnt make a huge deal put of me dropping my dri k like a clutz. Super cool bartenders and good drinks.
Just wanted to share - Rosie was chosen by the Portland Sister of Perpetual Indulgence to be raised to the level of Angel for all they have done within the LGBTQ+ Community over the years. Rosey proudly took their vows!! When you listen to what he has done to support the community it was AMAZING! Rosey and Scandals - Portland LGBTQ+ Institutions. Dr. B
They are very disrespectful to the neighborhood by playing their music incredibly loud during Pride. I intend to file a complaint with the city. Its simply ridiculous how disrespectful and disruptive this is to working peopleOnce again, in July 2024 this establishment disrupts the neighborhood with noise pollution to celebrate Pride. There are working people residing all around this bar who have to get up early Monday to work. Theyll be doing so with a lack of sleep. I have spoken with some of them, and well be filing noise complaints with the city. Not sure if thatll do any good
So…. Be careful here. I was roofied while out at this bar in April 2023(yes it has taken me this long to discuss my experience, therapy). The drinks were great, I had two and my partner had two. The moment we were done, we left. Within 20 minutes I was down, out and have 6 hours of my life just gone. This was the only establishment we went to that evening. The vibe is awesome, the people seem great, and funny kicker pretty sure the roofie was for my partner and not even me. (No it was not my partner, it came from some one in the establishment).
Rose Festival Parade Update: So the Grand Floral Parade route was changed away from Stark St., making Scandals more accessible but less of a spot to view the parade from. It still had a nice parade day crowd and some real Sailor men in crisp whites were there. I posted new pics, especially of sailors. ###Landmark Portland Gay bar, now often visited by straight hipsters -:( who I guess dont like their own bars, or wanna be cool with the gay vibe. Wide selection of flavored liquors and Red Bull for the children, many micros on tap. A great sidewalk seating area to watch the World and the bois in it go by. No food to speak of. Great place.♡◇♡◇♡◇♡◇♡◇♡◇♡◇♡◇♡◇♡◇♡WARM WEATHER SIDEWALK UPDATESNow that the warm weather is returning, here are some vintage pictures of the bois and their daddies, thronging the sidewalk tables in the cafe seating in front of Scandals lounge and restaurant, on Harvey Milk Boulevard in downtown Portland. A premier see-and-be-seen location for all the bois, all the daddies and all the mens. Be here, bois, Daddys, mens, queens and in-betweens as well. Bring your cocktails, bring your tails and bring your cocks as well, to the sidewalk at Scandals where you too can flaunt what you got. Here are pictures from 2016 of those that did, those who were looking, and those who got.
Airea took good care of me and my friends, cant wait to come back 🥰 love the artwork and space to hang!
I had to much energy as a Black woman. My good friend was enjoying his night at Scandals and invited me to come. I walked in with a short dance move to cheer my best friend up…And the bartender embarrassed me in front of paying/drunk customers.I came with energy, with the intent of purchasing drinks at the bar, and cheering my friend up. When I got there the they/male bartender (with a blonde touff/section of hair) declined serving me alcoholic beverages. Because he felt I was intoxicated. I was not at the “pull” level of intoxication. But when I started to inquire about the $400+ paintings, they were the tentative salesman and were going to accept my money.I felt discriminated against because I am a Black woman and know he felt I was “Too Much” or “Being Too Black” when I walked in.I allowed his comments/“call out” to slide in the moment, to prevent further contraction, but will spread the word on this treatment to all my friends and those who live in the neighborhood (like me) of Scandals. Because at this point you’re being selective. And why would I allow another Black Queen to feel embarrassed in a city where we are the 3%!? My money and feelings matter, thanks for reading.
Great place to grab a drink with friendly bartenders.
Beers were okay but the margaritas were pretty bad. Not much selections for food either so we ordered chips and salsa. Salsa tasted like a generic supermarket version. Overall, a disappointing experience.
Love coming here! Very safe, friendly, and queer-celebrating. Prices are also really great, theres a lot to do nearby, and the staff is very kind. Quickly become one of my favorite spots in Portland!
I wish I could give a 0 star review. Truly terrible. As a black gay man who grew up in Lake Oswego I have experienced racism. But, nothing compares to what I have endured at scandals. A few examples, I asked for a charger for my phone, they said they didn’t have any. My white friend asked for one a few minutes later. They immediately gave him one! He asked for a bathroom key after, and was cheerfully handed one. Later, I asked for a bathroom key (mind you, I’m dead sober just drinking soda water) and the bartender glared at me and rudely said just remember to bring it back (eye roll.) several of my friends of color agree that this bar only hires racist bartenders. They really should have a whites only sign! That’s how it makes me feel 🥲
I have never written a negative review for an establishment because it takes a lot for me to feel that disappointed, but this place is an embarrassment to our community. After our first round of drinks and giving a cheers for the birthday girl our group went up to the bar to order a round of shots (many and all on one tab) before our next destination. The bartender requested that we do not cheers or scream if we were going to take shots, to which we said Ok but we didnt realize we were screaming their word for word response was straight girls come in here all the time screeching please keep in mind a good majority of our group was queer women. In a time where many of us are trying to find safe and accepting locations to enjoy a night out, it was shocking to hear those words and assumptions in a bar thats plastered with acceptance mission statements. The rest of the reviews speak to similar experiences. If you care about our community, this is not a place you want to provide business to.
Always a ball at Scandals! Inviting and safe environment! Love this place!
Sat at the bar for 10 min, watched the bartender serve about 6 people before me. I finally asked if they had a food menu (I didnt know it was like hotdogs), he told me what they had and so I was like “Ill just take a soda..” he flippantly said, okay Ill be with you in a minute then proceeded to serve the people who stepped up much after I had been sitting there. I walked out.Not only was that incredibly rude, but it also felt stigmatizing because I don’t drink alcohol.I am visiting from out of town, took the train over which was no small feat. Walked there and had this experience.Incredibly disappointing.Don’t know the guy’s name but he had a modern mullet that was curly in the back and had blonde highlights.I hope other people don’t have to experience what I just did.
$20 for some vodka and redbull. Servers look at you like either they dont want to be there or they dont want you to be there (when theres only like 8 customers)... smelled like someones cooking chili beans. In a gay bar where anyones trying to get some action it kills vibe.
The staff were super friendly! You can also gamble.
Usually i love scandals but tonight i kindly asked the tall bartender with blonde hair and brown roots for a margarita & received a lemonade and was charged $12 for it. at this point i had only had 2 margaritas so i could clearly taste the difference between my pervious margs (made by a different bartender) and the one that they had made me. i didn’t want to go in and ask for a remake so my friend went in and asked and their response was “if she doesn’t like her drink she can drink somewhere else.” as somebody who has been in the service industry for many years this is EXTREMELY rude and something i would never say to a paying customers (especially not after they spent $50 and left a 20% tip) normally not the type to leave a bad review, but this was outrageous.
I live very close to this bar and theyre so loud and disturbing. I wish they celebrate inside the bar after 7 pm at least. Hopefully, that place gets closed down sometime soon.
Chill location. Not as friendly. Maybe better next visit. Some don’t like the truth, Perry the manager is unfriendly and rude. Messaged me on Facebook then blocked me. I mean honestly owners how unprofessional is it for someone to be rude and can’t take feedback due to their actions message you on social media then block ya? Interesting and great to know. I mean I took someone that just moved to Portland to see how great the gay bar community is and his experience is to be treated rudely? Other places you can go too if you want to have a drink and relax outside. And I agree with the low stars from others. If they get rid of Perry others might come instead of getting treated rudely. I
It felt like the Alley was making a comeback. My Gentleman and I fantasized about buying up Stark down to 8th and reseeding it with all of our lost, seedy places. He decided hed reopen the Roxy as TBS: The Beautiful Suzanne. We had a lovely evening.
Ive been here twice, both times lacked a feeling of community or of good customer service by employees.Overpriced drinks and lots of obnoxious drunk people. Id look elsewhere, lots of other bars in the area that are great.
Me and my boyfriend went here last night. It was one of the absolute best bar experiences I’ve ever had. Bartenders are super nice, and the atmosphere is comfortable. It may be my favorite bar. Thank you for amazing drinks and a great experience.
My wife and I were looking for a place to grab a drink after a show and found this lovely bar. I admit Im pretty dense and didnt realize it was a gay bar but it honestly didnt matter because the staff was friendly and were continuously on the move, between pouring drinks and cleaning up I rarely saw these guys stop and when they did it was to chat up patrons and really lighten the atmosphere. Drink prices are fantastic and the place was clean and my wife said it was one of the most comfortable bars she has been to. Will gladly come back.
Love this place, super fun and always a good crowd and people to chat with. Awesome karaoke nights.
I have been coming here for a long time now.The management and staff were nice at one point in time. I just got kicked out for life all cause I like people and flirt with alot of people there. This is no reason to Ban someone from this establishment. You guys should be ashamed of yourself.I would not recommend anyone going here.Once you get comfortable and start making friendsAnd start kissing another man a few times. This turns to chaos.. Im extremely hurt right now. I had a passing of my Dad recently in dec. The manager said what em I doing here. I said Im drinking. Your not supposed to be here. You have been causing trouble.I mentioned I just lost my dad. He didnt even have no sympathy for me at all. And then said. U have one more chance.. this place is a Disaster. I come here to meet people and flirt of coarse.
So lame over priced weak drinks cant pour a beer right . Bartenders were c#cky on a slow day & they tried tipping themselves 50% . Drank my drinks & left!
Lots of rules to remember, while you’re stoned/tripping. My apologies for offending the staff, because of my relative disgust for all the Rules in what used to be a carefree safer space environment. Nonetheless, I commend the staff for maintaining a professional demeanor in operating a safer space environment for Everybody, including those with compromised respiratory systems, even during these tragic and challenging circumstances.I would recommend better signage and more visible/clear insignia to assist with all of us maintaining a safe but social distance for everyone in the queer community.
Went with my husband for lunch at his 1st day at new job. He ordered chicken street tacos. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! They came with chips and what was suppose to be salsa which were pretty sure it was ketchup!
Neh… nice staff but terrible drinks, the place have like 5 tables and 5 slot machines. The decoration is almost non existent, we were thinking to spend our new year’s eve there but we went somewhere else because there was really nothing special.
If you want friendly conversation, that doesnt involve yelling over the loud tunes of Lady Gaga, this is the place to go! I never understood why they call it Scandals as this place seems pretty clean to me. The drinks are strong and the service is quick and friendly. If you frequent this place a lot, theyll definitely learn your name and drink. The pool table is a great way to make new friends, or lose old ones who keep beating you!
I went here in the fall last year. The barista was in a bad mood that evening. But what really turned me off was how full of women it was! Id say at least 2 out of 3 were women? It didnt feel like a gay bar at all. The only thing gay about it was the barista and pretty colors. I give it one star just because it was clean and pretty at least, but I wont ever go back there again. Whats the point? I can go to any straight or generic bar and at least get some good food. If I decide to go to a gay bar, I go because I want to see/meet gay men, thank you very much.
Not a bad place, but I am not pleased by the way they teat their customers. I have had less than pleasing experiences with the way I was treated there. I would suggest you go to other places, especially if you want a more vibrant, respectful experience. I work as a concierge, and I probably steer my guests to other places... maybe the Royal. Its new, and I appreciate the different types of actually good music they play.
Great place to People Watch. Love the street side seating in the summer time. Inside can get a little packed. I tend to stick with the beer as the drinks are a little weak. Seems to be an older crowd that hangs out, but always a good time for all.
This place does NOT have the values of a gay bar. We arrived there after travelling from Vegas and NYC, we had some great drinks in a mainstream bar then thought wed support a queer establishment. After waiting 5 minutes at an empty bar to be served, we didnt even get a hello, but a demand for ID, after presenting DRIVING LICENSES, we were told to leave as we werent American. Having used this ID in Mexico, NYC, Nevada and Seattle, this judgey, self indulgent, bouncey fringed barman made us feel so unwelcome we left. SHAME on you for being an (empty) bar on HARVEY MILK street. As a queer activist visitor whos been to hundreds of gay bars around the world, this is a bad example of our community. I hope managent reads this and changes their welcome! SCANDALous.
The one star represents food quality - would definitely not recommend ordering anything.Let me say this is definitely our fault. We looked around the bar and didn’t notice anyone eating even outside in the outdoor eating area.Either way we asked our bartender if they had a food menu. And the immediate response was um wait one second let me check something. That was our 2nd warning to just drop it but we waited for the answer. The bartender came back with another worker and the worker gave us a menu and said that they had everything except chicken. We ordered pork street tacos. Not gonna lie wasn’t expecting much but something decent. We waited awhile for these 3 tacos. When they came out. It was literally 2 layers of cold tortillas out of the fridge. And nothing but the driest pork cubes. With a weird red sauce and PARMESAN cheese. I took a bite into it and it was so dry and bland I was chewing over a minute with one bite, yearning for a sip of my beer. After a few more bites we unanimously decided these were the worst tacos we ever had in our lives and to never order anything from this place again food wise. The place it self was dope and had a cool vibe. Just avoid the food!
This place is fun! It is my Timber hang out before I hit the field! The pool table and window seat make it a super fun summer hangout! The happy hour specials are great and it is never too busy!
If youre alone or lonely dont go here during covid. Your not allowed to socialize, only drink. Also if youre a smoker you will be seated at a table on the asphalt, with no shade (in 100° weather) , and made to sit in a scorching hot metal chair. If you stand up with your drink, and move 2 feet into the shade of the umbrella, you will be told to sit back down.Doubt I will return to this bar ever beings alienation and disenfranchisement is most important to this pretentious establishment! (This bar was about pretentiousness pre-covid)
Great little gay bar with friendly atmosphere and clientele. Went on a monday night for the drag night but didnt seem to be anything happening. Was still a great night had some nice slushy drinks for $5 and met some nice locals too / nice outdoor seating for people watching.
I would rate this higher, but I hate the plastic, no acrylic, glasses. The atmosphere is modern and the space is laid out efficiently. The staff are nice and they have a great karaoke. Loathe the plastic glasses though.
Scandals is always fun for a drink and some social time. The staff is friendly, and their happy hour prices (from 4-8 PM!) are great. Also a great place to watch Drag Race.
I like stopping by and suddenly entering a Gaylandia (A loud in color, decor and music) fun bar. I am also not expecting anything but a good drink, a conversation and to hear some Jams. Not interested in the Politics or the Neighborhood or the History. Sounds cold but it is what makes me come back. By the way, the neighborhood is being Gentrified and looks like it will continue to be.
The last gay bar on Stark Street! Always friendly bartenders and a positive atmosphere! Outdoor seating and a friendly array of various genders and genres of people I always enjoy going there
Low key, fun people, great conversation kind of Neighborhood bar. Not to mention fun karaoke nights on Tuesday and Sunday. Highly recommended if youre in town.
Went for a Tuesday karaoke night. We got put to shame by these boys. They were amazing and did everything from Disney songs 2 Moulin Rouge. Will definitely go back had the most fun by far
Is just a friendly place to hang out wirh your friends and chitchat noting especial but a nice place to star a new date or friendshipsDrinks are ok not amazing but everage restrooms for man needs doors to have privicy at least for me. Not use to do my needs in public but thats me I wont visit againg or as I did use woman reatrooms that properly give you privacy
We had been walking - and were very hot. Being from the Southeast, this is something that we are all very used to - the barkeep made us a drink and realized we were hot, grabbed a fan and literally put it in our face. Now this is customer service and I immediately felt at home here! ❤️
When you think of gay bars in Portland, or when you ask the local wildlife about their watering holes, Scandals is always in the top three names of places to go. Perhaps better than the stellar service and spacious scenery is the established social sphere which both welcomes those who have been here before and offers an electric promise of new encounters. In short, “Scandals” offers side-eye winks and kisses on the cheek in a style which cannot be delivered elsewhere in Portland’s social scene.
Its never that busy which is good and bad. It would be nice to see them with a better business but at the same time I love how inexpensive the drinks are and quick the service is. They have a great out door section too
Nicest gay bar Ive ever been to. More of a mens bar but everyone is super nice. Prices are very reasonable. Would recommend, will be returning!
Super paranoid gay bar, no seats at the bar, if one hasn’t learned about Covid? Very uncomfortable bar, maybe just for their friends! Nothing close to the bar on 10th and Stark.
Stopped in for my first drink for the night, sat my service animal out side with a friend ! Perry if thats his name(Monday night bartender) Refused to serve me! Said that he was observing me from outside and thought that I was intoxicated ! Maybe that bartender needs to find a different line of work!Sincerely , ticked patron!
Dan the man bartender made my drinks so strong! 21 dollars for 2 top shelf margaritas, a blue moon, and a bottle water! excellent bar
Friendly atmosphere and staff, really nice outdoor patio seating during the summer time. Cheap drinks, and there always seems to be a special on. Karaoke on Tuesday nights!
Great bar and very friendly and competent staff. Only negative is the loop for music. We heard the same 10 songs over and over and over. Please make your loop longer.
COOL BARTENDERS!! You must get the carne asada tacos. MUST! Jesus Christ idk what it was .... the carne asada, the cilantro, the lime, the aioli, the tortillas, the queso fresco. HONESTLY DON’T KNOW, but we devoured them. Also theBBQ chicken sliders were BUSSSIIIIIIN!!!
The staff there is great and I love the atmosphere. Great place just to kick back and relax
A nice gay bar. Supporting the community. But there are mainly cliques. And the pool table is gone. That was a great opportunity to spend time and meet new people.
Very rude, arrogant and ignorant “manager”/bartender, unfriendly atmosphere. Never again
I am 73 years old women and I have a cousin who lives downtown Portland who’s gay and I went to scandals with him and met some of the coolest young gay men and I must say I fell in love with scandals and the people that were there.
Liked it when it was the old Scandals in the 1990s and like it today. Met my husband when we had a date and met up there, and everyone is pretty friendly. Busy but not crowded. .
Unless youre a white guy, this place really hates everyone else. POCs and women... beware! The irony & gall.
Sunday bloody mary bar, advertised until 4, actually ended at 2:45 with no explanation and no ability to get the meager fixins back. Why? No bacon or celery even when its going on. Dont bother with this. Never going back again any time
We went here for new years eve and what a night! Everyone in the bar was welcoming and a friend that night! Thank you for the carefree and dancing-filled evening
Good location and cheap drinks. Wasnt my type of crowd, but that didnt take away from the solid experience that I had.
Very warm and airy environment. Public restroom food and drinks available. Mid cost range. Met some good peeps here.
The drinks were alright, but the crowd wasn’t very friendly and was severely lacking in diversity.
Visiting Canadians we love it here. We love this bar. Not pretentious. Cosy. Not expensive.
Friendly staff, cramped outdoor area. good local artwork. Long lines to wait for drinks...people line up. ;)
The staff is always kind, the outdoor area is my favorite addition. Love this place! Always good times!
Vibe is pretty chill, staff members were nice and drinks were good and inexpensive.
Ok for a bar but there are a lot of things they can do to make it a nice place to hang - a remodel is needed.
The bartenders are not friendly. I asked about the blue drink he had in a container on the bar (maybe it was a cocktail) and he did not know what was in it. The staff is snarky.
Went here for my 21st birthday and the bartender was very lovely and helpful, I did end of stumbling out of there 😂
Great drinks and service, but not very friendly clientele...clickish!! Mostly caucasian...I felt invisible!!
One of the greatest and welcoming gay bars in Portland.
Very nice gay bar, friendly staff, hot guys come and go, and they pour generously for a very reasonable price.
This screwdriver is like .5% oragne juice and a mlion percent vodka. This place is great!
Classic old school gay haunt with cheap wells and good company.
This was my introduction to gay life in Portland. Cozy little bar that offers strong drinks and an eclectic mix of unicorns.
Every time I go there the people are always very friendly Warm Welcoming.Great Service and Staff. I think the prices are reasonable as well.
My wallet fell out of my pocket and they were able to locate it and hold it for me until I was able to get it! so grateful for them! thanks scandals!
Fun little gay bar with a nice sidewalk area to sit and have drinks during the summer.
Very friendly establishment. Sometimes deafeningly loud!!!
Friendly staff, good drinks & video lotto machines. Nice wall art too!
I think the bartenders are rude. Lame music. Drinks suck. Scandals sucks. Sorry about it.
Great acoustics karaoke 🎤 guy here.
Friendly staff, roomy location, plenty of seating, gambling machines inside, theres a mystery vending machine
Nice place to hang with friends. Its a gay bar if you didnt already know that.
Decent watering hole-- less apocalyptic than I had supposed as I tried to talk my boyfriend into once again staying home.
A fun bar with good service and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating
White women told me she couldn’t charge my phone
Bartender is slow with bad attitude went to cash in lottery tickets and her response was your going have to 15 minutes everyone has been cashing in and taking all my f---ing money this after several tips from me !
This brunch is everything. Staff is sweet. Prices SLAY. I LOVE.
Same thing I wrote about CC Slaughters is true here: come here if you enjoy being unfairly judged by cis gay men.
Longstanding gay bar with a nice staff and good drinks.
The staff on Sunday night were indifferent and on their phones, only showing interest to certain people, perhaps friends or regulars.
Really nice place.I do like it. Its simple and not overpriced.
Its a comfortable place to be. Never had a bad experience there.
Best neighborhood gay bar on the west side. Hands down.
After going to three or so other gay bars. This was my favorite. It was so chill.
Relaxed vibe, decent drinks with good happy hour prices
Great people and extremely friendly staff! Affordable as well!
Music there is great especially Thursday and Friday night.
Warm.. inviting - in the words of the staff Gay-ish bar.
A decent lounge with good drinks and a laid-back atmosphere.
Rude bartenders, clicky people with unjustified attitude towards anyone who seems new or different. Why bother?
Interesting bar and good music. Alcohol selection is good
I only very favorite crush and scandals gay Bar downtown Portland Oregon!
Great bar for great people!
A chill place where u can get a drink with no drama and loud but enough to have a conversation
Gets rather crowded, but still fun atmosphere.
Loved the live jazz, and handsome men.
Good times, super gay. Bought some art off the wall. Good chunes.
The worst place in the city, customer service is horrible! Don’t recommend !
Fun place good people watching! :)
The people are very friendly and the beers are dirt cheap!
I didnt know what i was walking into but everyone seemed happy
Luv the staff and great drink specials.
Friendly atmosphere, very diverse crowd.
Cute place, seems like keep busy :)
Good choice for a conversation and drinks! Not good for dancing.
Love this place, honestly wish I worked here.
Scandals is actually the only gay bar in Portland.
Fun spot, enjoy it much, particularly in the summer.
This place is really really fun.
Very diverse, friendly place!
Open bright bar with great bartenders
Great, inviting, inclusive atmosphere!
Cheap drinks, nice people!

The Gay Cheers!
Friendly folks
The terrace looks nice but avoid for tourists refusing entry with a European identity card, go to the CC instead
If you want a beer in the middle of the night in downtown Portland, this is the place to go. Its open until late and its really cheap.
Very good place and good music
Mahhhh blahhh
