The venue has changed significantly since I was last at this particular location - years ago as a Red Door Spa - now, Norwich Spa Providence. The architecture was always my favorite part of this locations vibe, inside the also new Graduate Hotel, once Biltmore. The space smells delightfully clean and fresh, the space also looked very hygienic. Everyone was very friendly. It was also nice and cool on another hot summer day.The layout, especially for relaxation area(s) are odd. The deep relaxation area is a gorgeous room, yet lacks cohesive design, furniture and most importantly relaxation. They had lots of space and comfy chairs yet nowhere to put your feet up. The larger area outside of the treatment area had some ottomans for their chairs, but the lighting was very dim in some areas and it lacked any real warmth, bare walls and muted colors made the room feel cold.My massage therapist was very friendly, courteous and used good pressure. But she didnt actually massage my whole body, despite it being a full body massage - I did ask for specific areas of my back that required a little more attention. However, I didnt expect the rest would be left untouched. I felt like the service was incomplete. My pedicure after was exceptional. I had a lovely woman that took her time to listen, do a properly thorough job and made me feel important while I was in her chair. The nail bar and makeup areas on the first floor are gorgeous.A solid effort from a well known Spa in a newer satellite location. I feel they have the potential to be truly exceptional, but are missing the mark in a few areas. I would absolutely go back, but I do hope they reconfigure their relaxation areas to a truly relaxing space that invites the guest rather than just accepts them. 8.5/10
HORRIBLE! SCAM ALERT. This place is a complete scam. My friend and I booked our massages a week ahead of time. When we arrived for our appointment everything seemed fine. They gave us a tour, we put on robes and they told us our massage therapists would be right with us. After waiting 45 minutes, I finally had to track someone down at the front desk downstairs to ask what was going on. They told me my massage therapist just never showed up for work and they didnt realize. Ok so you didnt know when I checked in that your employee never showed up? RED FLAG. My friend did get a massage, but when she looked at her receipt the math did not add up. Dont waste your time or money on this scam.
I had the honey bee pedicure. The girls who greeted me at the desk were extremely friendly, as was Katie who did my pedicure. It was very pretty and clean in the spa and I would highly recommend going!
This was such a great experience and if I lived in the city I would be a regular because it is really worth every penny. The receptionist did a fantastic job at making us feel welcome and comfortable. My massage was amazing and my masseur was lovey and great to chat with. He really helped me relax.
I had an incredible experience at the Norwich spa at the Graduate hotel - we were in town to visit Brown with our high schooler and I decided it had been ages since I had a massage. I squeezed in an appt and was delighted to be given a very professional and lovely massage by a masseuse who doesnt wish to be named. I told him I was going to write a nice review and he said he hated to be written about online :) so anyway - great massage, very thorough, I only booked a 50 min massage and was nicely surprised that I was able to get both legs and arms with my back! He even did my ears - who knew ears needed to be massaged! Nice changing rooms as well, the robe and sandals were so nice I wanted to keep them!
My friend and I were greeted by our first names and I was immediately impressed. However, the experience was nothing like the Norwich Spa in Norwich CT. I did not see the sauna or pool area. My friend and I were there for a 100 minute treatment. The womens changing room doesn’t have any extra hooks or a bench so there is no place to hang or put your robe while you’re hanging your coat, etc. The lighting is terrible. You have to actually touch the faucet to turn it on. There were only a few paper towels to dry your hands. The carpet definitely needed vacuuming. I froze in my treatment. Nothing was warm. Not the air temp. Not the table. Not the blankets. Not the creams. The shower head was broken. My technician kept apologizing but I think she did the best she could with what she had. My friend had the same treatment. When we compared notes her treatment sounded much more relaxing. I can say I do not have any more discomfort in my neck but that’s about it. Will I go back? Probably not. I’d much rather go to their hub in Norwich CT.
Cannot recommend this boutique spa enough after a very pleasant experience right from booking through my departure!Upon learning they’ve only been opened since April, I feel compelled to elaborate on my entire experience knowing the service industries have faced various uncontrollable challenges & difficult times with the current pandemic and where they likely are not granted as much grace nor patience from clients as they deserve. When booking my services over the phone, the staff member was thorough explaining each service with reasonable pricing, spa day expectations, & the arrival time necessary to ensure me a best possible experience. Upon arrival, I received a warm greeting; but given only 1 spa attendant at the time, I and a few others did have to wait a bit longer than anticipated. Instead of flustering, she called upon the Spa Director who quickly stepped in and couldn’t have been more professional to eloquently diffuse those frustrated and personally took each through the spa tour to services. The facial room & pedicure area were extremely clean, calming with quality staff. Services were wonderful! Prior to my departure, the Spa Director made a point to inquire of my stay, even giving me her business card should I have any follow-up questions or concerns. Top-notch!Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is even the best of establishments has room for growth and to be kept honest to strive for more for all clients which I’m certain this Spa Director & her dedicated staff will diligently pursue. Again, I highly recommend Norwich Spa at The Graduate and look forward to returning!!
Try to avoid at all costs, very bad experience. Light was not working in the elevator, shower was not working properly, dirty towels. The procedure was so weak, that I did not even understand why they charge 200+.But worst of all was that the specialist clearly had the sick symptoms: constant coughing, sneezing and running nose. After 10 minutes of procedure she stopped for 5 minutes to recover the breath, because she just was so sick. Instead of getting more healthy, I just put my health at danger.I will never go to this place again, and hope you will find better place to get SPA
Great experience this past weekend! I havent been here since it became The Norwich Spa and I loved my visit and how clean everything was. Jennifer did a great job on my pedicure.
My husband and I celebrated our 26th anniversary here at the Norwich Spa at Graduate. Melanie greeted us right away and gave a tour of this luxurious spa. She was very personable and professional. There is a very calm and relaxing atmosphere that puts you right at ease. We sat in the infrared sauna before our service. We were completely relaxed for our couples massage with two talented massage therapists, who listened to our requests and suggested a few amazing add-ons. It was a wonderful experience. 5 stars for sure.
I splurged on the Island Bliss massage. The room and the practitioner were excellent. The massage was well thought out and heavenly. Only down side is the size of the changing room. A bit too snug.
Wonderful experience. The spa is lovely and everything is perfectly designed to create serenity. The massage was the best I have ever had. Carise was professional and there isnt a thing that could have been improved.I am so glad I decided on an impulse to stop in. Thank you.
Disappointed. I made a reservation for a 50 minute massage via phone. During the phone call I was not asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to service. I arrived at the spa for my 2 pm appointment. After check in and tracking down a robe to wear for my appointment, it was 215 pm. I was informed by my massage therapist that since I had arrived late, my 50 minute massage was cut short. It was less than 35 minutes. When checking out, I asked the receptionist about the shorten time for my massage and not being told I needed to arrived 15 mins prior to my appointment. My concern was dismissed. Definitely not worth the piece you pay.
Booked two services, one for me & one for my mother’s birthday. Treatments were alright. Check-in was a bit neglectful. During the check-in tour, my party had to wait for reception to run back down to check someone out. When reception returned, we were rushed after waiting on them to return.Relaxation lounge had nothing but cold water (even for the hot tea), no bites, no magazines, locker facility was clean, warm treatment bed a plus. Nothing special (no acknowledgement of of my mother’s bday) , nothing terrible (what you’d expect for average spa day.)
I came here for my first pedicure & spa treatment on a mini vacay to RI. I wanted to find somewhere that was a comfortable yet classy atmosphere and this was it! I was worried I was going to be out of place with it being in a nice hotel, but Horacy made me feel very welcomed, she was easy going, super friendly and gave me exactly what my feet needed. To top it off, they even sold Jane Iredale makeup, which was a lovely surprise.I’m willing to drive from Boston to come here again!
I had the same experience as the first reviewer. Check-in took ages leaving me with a very expensive 35 minute massage. I scheduled a deep tissue massage and hardly any pressure was used at all. Everyone was very friendly, and the spa is clean, but I am very disappointed in my service.
The infrared sauna is super nice, clean, and private. Only $10 for one 15 min session and $5 extra to bring someone with you. It was a great way to relax and enjoy the spa without having to spend a million dollars.
I want to thank the Norwich Spa for bringing me (and my face) back to life!Sherry was a pro all the way ~ from the comfy robes to the intoxicating aromas, the Norwich Spa at Providence has it all!!There are 2 floors of immaculate spaces for massage, facial, makeup, nails, etc. ... I would highly recommend for a group party as there is plenty of space for everyone.#bestfacialever
This beautiful two-story spa is my new oasis in Providence!! The menu of services is extensive, there are multiple relaxation rooms and there is an infrared sauna that you can book privately. I am hooked!
Manager able to rectify some issues in timely manner.
Great spot of serenity in the midst of a bustling city. The tranquility space is beautiful! Facials are amazing! Highly recommend
Great experience! Lived my massage. The lady at the desk was very helpful and friendly
My massage therapist was absolutely wonderful! Highly recommended :)
Had a much needed massage and was very pleased with the service and the renovations looked beautiful!
Good place. the infrared sauna is great, definitely try it out
