Tj is nice when you want to get out and dance. Drinks ok bartenders could be friendlier but, its a club atmosphere and really hot so I get it. If you dont like crowds dont go on a first Friday you must just pass out but at least you had a good time😂
Please replace the DJ. The crowd was there, it was a vibe, but the DJ sucks. I remember coming to first Friday’s a few years back and danced the entire night, because the DJ was just that good. But this one here.. ain’t it!! I don’t think I will be coming back until he’s replaced.
Cool place for mature crowd which I like but the same music every time kills the vibe. They should try play some hiphop sometimes.
Always a good vibe and a good time at TJs . Just wish they replace the current DJ they had on First Friday 07-7-23. They get a good dj it will take this club to the next level. Update: As of July 2024 they still haven’t replaced the First Friday DJ
The age limit changed from 30 plus to 25 and older... worst move yall could have ever made...
Please replace DJ on 1st Fridays. He Sucks!!!! Club is Good by DJ got to go
In general, not a bad spot. A little run down and outdated. The atmosphere is given country as hell. Went for their 4th of July party with a guest DJ, who was good. Staff is nice. It was a sweatbox though. Extremely hot and everyone was complaining about it.
Nice atmosphere and I enjoy old school music. I didnt appreciate one of the guys asking me to put my long sleeve shirt back on. I took it off because it was extremely hot. However, I had a regular top on with the arms out and he managed to come tell me to put my shirt back on out of 100 women but there were other women in there with the same type of tank top I had on with their arms out as well and he said absolutely nothing. I guess I just look like a boss and not the help and he wanted to feel IMPORTANT TALKING TO ME!!!!
Drinks were reasonable. The staff were nice. The people were friendly but the deejay was all over the place with the music. I didnt like that at all.
TJs is an interesting place. To keep it in perspective Im from a larger metropolitan city in the northeast. So take it and compare to your expectations/ experiences in those iareas. Its a 25 an older club. Average age is about 50. There is a dress code for no athletic wear and button down collared shirts, no sneakers etc etc.The parking lot is small but there is plenty of street parking. Its in a commercial/retail area so no other clubs to hop to. Once you enter a gentleman checks bags, pay entry fee of 10-20 bucks. Then last security check with a metal detector. You enter the club massive space. Pool tables on the left, little smoking patio and a large bar. Typically 4-5 bartenders line moves quickly. In the floor space youll see a sea of high top seating sometimes reserved on busy nights leading to an dance floor. Watch your step lol. Its dark and u dont see the step up. Around the dance floor is more reserved seating and a few more high top seating options and a smaller bar.Now given all this space and potential this place is miserable lol. If you like wide leg dress pants, dudes walking with Bluetooths (what year are we in) shiny suits 2 piece poorly fitted shein outfits and every color bodycon dress on the frumpiest of silhouettes this is your place. ( Im fat to no shade but I dress for my shape lol) . I mean they still taking pictures in front of those drop cloths🙄. they are gonna line dance you to death leaving minimal room for actually dancing and mingling. DJs are terrible, yes both of them even in 1st Fridays. They play the full 3 minutes 15 seconds of a song no transitions no purpose. Reggae then pattie Labelle. No current music. This is one step up from a VFW.Go to Durham ( alot of black progressive well dressed spaces) or downtown. This place is geared towards locals and 50+
I always enjoy myself when I go to Tjs. First Fridays have been a good turn out; its always a crowd but they get you in the building without waiting long. I have total respect for the owner because he politely turned a lady that was in line in front of me around because she was in athletic wear. He told her if she had on heels hell let her in but baby girl was dressed like she about to go running or something, sneakers and all. So I appreciate that he keeps his business classy, no nonsense here. The owner is very aware of the people he lets in and I completely understand and respect it as a black business owner. The music is pretty ok, old school like I like it. The ladies at the smaller bar overlooked me a few times when I was there before some of the men that showed up but finally they got my drink order so that was the only annoying thing about my night. Other than that my night was fun and there was no arguing or fighting that I could tell. They do have a police officer at the door too so that helps. All in all I think Tjs is a good spot for the older, mature crowd who literally only wants to dance, drama free.
Its Always A vibe here its a older crowd, but they know how to party ya hear me! First Fridays is definitely When you want to come to get the full experience.
One of the only decent places for 80s babies but the music is HORRIBLE. They play OLD folks liquor house, 2 step, line dancing music all Nighy. When the dj finally plays a hip hop song he follows it up with a slow jam. The Dj is playing the same Playlist for over a year now. The majority of your patrons are 70s and 80s with some 90s babies mixes in...we wanna dance and hear the music we grew up with and not lol John and usher YEAH and step in the name of love, all night. It feels like yall think you can do what you wanna do and simply capitalize off of us because its one of the only decent and safe clubs for our age group. Most people are only on the dance floor because theyre drunk and not because the music is good. And about 70% of the dance floor is standing still and mingling. I hear people complaining about your music ALL the time inside the club and even to the door man and the MC but no one seems to care about how the people thats keeping yall open feel. Please get another DJ or at least have him diversify and update his old tired played out juke joint music Playlist....ugh. My friends have to beg me to come out to TJs with them because I know imma have to hear every line dance some that was ever made and dance to early 90s r and b and MrCheeks lights camera action first Friday after first Friday. We work too hard to waste out money at your door or at your bar for yall to keep playing people out with that WACK DJ and Playlist!
I absolutely love the vibe. TJs is one of the few places that the middle aged crowd can go to and enjoy themselves. My chief complaint would be the music. On a regular basis the DJ is not very good in my opinion. I realize that TJs caters to a wide generation gap yet the music is mostly old school or at least they play old school for a long period of time. Times are changing and the 80s babies musical tastes are seemingly forgotten. There are lost 90s 2000s artists whose music is very appropriate for all crowds. We wanna hear some Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie (and not the same 2 songs he plays each week) and other music. Were tired of the same ole Mr. Cheeks lights, camera, action. Please do something about the music. Other than that (which is a huge reason people come out to party), its a safe and laid back environment for enjoyment.
TJ’s is still one of the better clubs in RDU because they don’t play trash radio hits but the DJ I heard on Saturday night is not as good as the DJ they had about 5 to 6 years ago… If it’s the same DJ, then he’s gotten lazier. And ladies, you’ll have to exercise your personal physical boundaries in this place because a lot of these men are touch-starved or just complete clueless about the fact that women’s personal space needs to be respected. So come in with your guard up because a lot of these dudes mainly come to the club to dance with women as a reason to touch them… Gross.
I’m here on a first Friday, It’s a cool spot! It gives me family reunion vibes, so if you’re looking for a good wholesome time, just cool vibes, this is the place! I’ll be back!
Nice spot for an older crowd. The bartender was slow. The music was old school but the DJ threw some new hits in there every now and then. The dance floor is large and never empty. When we first got there around 11 they were line dancing. The tables and chairs are reserved so there wasn’t anywhere near the dance floor to sit. It was $10 to get in. You have to park on the street because the venue parking lot is tiny. If you’re just looking for an old school vibe where you can get your steps in, this is the place for you.
Always a Grown and and SeXy Atmosphere! Security does not play to the point that you wouldnt even know if there was an incident because they extinguish it just that fast! My #1 Go To Spot!🎶
Place sucks would never go back again play the same music.over and over would not recommend if your looking for a good time go downtown Raleigh they have great nightlife and respect the customers!!!
My wife and I along with other friends frequent TJs nightlife on a regular basis. Always love the experience my wife and I went out for her birthday with our friends and really enjoyed ourselves. Had almost an altercation with a club patron. Security at the club was very responsive and show great attentiveness. They cared about us enjoying ourselves and ensured that if we have another issue to let them know, but we were to continue enjoying ourselves.
Its the local hangout for grown-ups ages 30+. This nightclub has been around for many years. No ID, dont even consider it because you wont be getting in. Friday nights are free to enter except first Friday. You will not find any trouble at this place. The crowd is always good but at times it can get quite hot. The drinks are fair. The music is good too but for a regular its almost predictable. Wish they would change it up sometimes.
Excelent place I recommend this place the people is very nice
Very disappointed with how this establishment handled a stolen debit card of my husband. The last person that took the debit card was the older skinny African American bartender . The bartender denied receiving the card.. and naturally my husband got upset ...the chubby old Caucasian bartender got mad that my husband was upset and had the bouncer throw us out. I use to love going to this club but this is the second time this has happened to us and we will NOT BE GOING BACK or referring anyone there
Tjs is a really nice club, however the owner needs to recruit a better DJ. Pleasssse! Also, I think a VIP line would be great. Who wants to.stand in a long line, especially on first Fridays!!
This was my 2nd time attending & I live out of town ! Both times I went on a GROWN FOLK Sat& i am 42 &was not feeling it! The DJ plays alot of hip hop music very little familiar old school! Also the dress code should be ANYTHING! Because thats what the ppl wear!Shorts, jeans, tshirts, sandals, sneakers! Not a mature upscale club
I really wanted to like this place. Its Labor Day weekend, and I was out looking for something to do. Please be mindful, this is NOT the scene if you are in the mid-20s range.Crowd: Friendly atmosphere, but the average age is about 35-40 in this club, and goes up from there. All the women looked like this was the night theyd been waiting for, and they left their kids at home with a babysitter, ready to turn up. The men? Well, you know that old guy in the club whos like your old weird creepy uncle? The damn, Hey baby girl, let me Holla at you old men in the polos and slacks with the Bluetooth in their ears?? Well, this is where they ALL hang out when theyre not infiltrating the younger crowd.Music: When I walked in, they were doing the Cupid Shuffle, or another one of those line dances. Need I say more? There was a band there that night, good music, but nothing I could even begin to turn up to. The band took a break, and during that time the DJ played the typical Drake, Rihanna, popular hip hop music that you hear on the radio. I partially began enjoying myself at that time, but by then, I was 90 minutes in and kind of over the whole thing.Cost: This club is NOTHING special from the outside or inside, so I figured it couldnt be more than $10 to get in. Wrong. $20 cover. Two Vodkas and Red Bulls came to $30. Watered down. Not so much as a slight buzz to get me going.Overall: I left after an hour and a half, this was a waste of time. If youre 21-30 years old, Id suggest staying downtown and hitting up Solas, Noir, basically anywhere else. This wasnt worth the gas it took to take the extra 15 minute drive from Glenwood Ave. Id rather have a cute pair of jeans with the $50+ I spent on this experience.
They need a better dj. The dj was good at first then he just messed the whole vibe up.
This club is too much i had called hours before it was my sister bday and a few other people came with us. So when i talk to the manager Caucasian guy he ask what was my name and what was the bday girl name. He did not ask what time to show up or anything. He said come we got table reserve for you. So when you get here the workers can direct you to the reserve table. Nope we got there and they gave me and my sister and people a hard time. We showed up at 12. And they was like oh you cant expect to come here at 1 and get a table we was so lost. We all had to pay. We didnt get no table it was my sis bday smh they suck. Smh but we still had a great time.
Vibes!!! Everyone goes here to have a funky good time 30+ very mature crowd
Came here to celebrate a friends 50th birthday. Dj kept the place rocking...grown n sexy is what it is all about. No drama..just good music and dancing.
...TJs is a really nice adult club...the lines move quickly, the staff is friendly & the bartenders know how to make a drink!!! the only ugh is the DJ...sometimes he can be REALLY random with his selection of music...
Music was nice..was there last night for my birthday. Had a great time with friends but overall club was just ok. 2 guys up front at the door a little to much for me no customer service skills but they all are like that..so just ok to me not great
Nice place for grown and the mature but they seriously need some ventilation....it’s too HOT and due to this it’s hard to have fun dancing...I mean you will literally sweat just moving side to side .
PSA: Please Hire bartenders who knows how to make a margarita. My margarita was nasty and had a sunken cherry at the bottom. I was told to drink whatever they fix, so I purchased another drink. Should have stayed in Cary. Last time attending.
I enjoyed the spot ...plenty of ladies no fights and everybody has a good time I really like the spot .
Anything free is is a plus! Short lines, quick bar service, lg clean rest rooms,Dj played great up to date hits! Most of all nice friendly staff &guest.
I always have fun here but it is way too hot. Do not be a natural sista and think that blow out/ curl/ etc gonna last cause it wont. Lol does anyone know if they are doing something special for Halloween?
I have fun every time I go. I love Smittys First Friday Comedy Show!!! Great place to hang out plus an ol school atmosphere.
I just called to see what the entrance fee was and the older sounding fella told me it was $10. After that I asked what the drink prices were on shots tonight. He hung up, I called back and he hung up again. I called and asked if he hung up and said yes and if I called back again or come down there hed whoop my ass. Hard ass over the phone...
My Sister Kim lives in Raleigh, and every birthday its a must the family go to TJs. Its a very friendly environment, and the music is awesome! I am on my way now to celebrate her birthday!
I enjoy myself every time I go. It’s older club but the people is friendly there
The crowd & energy were all there!! But the DJ sucked!!! I actually came to that spot to dance and had nothing to dance to!! Let that DJ wait the door and get a REAL DJ!!! & then youll have something!!!!
My first time at TJs and I enjoyed my self... Drama free and no violence which is important to me.. Nice mature adult club.. I do recommend this establishment
First time visiting this spot and it was such a fun experience...old and young different types of people ...I loved the blended crowd and the music was great 💟
My girls and I had a great time.. music great.. drinks great and atmosphere great.. absolutely no drama.. grown and sexy..
Love it,everyone is always dancing, theres no one just standing there trying to be cute. The men there are very polite
Love the grown and Sexy crowd. This is my favorite place to take my out of town friends and family for a great time.
The worst pla ece ever to go out security is unprofessional and the drinks are week never will go back to this club again dirty and cheep bartenders dont serve the right drinks very hood not worth the money they suck
The incompetent dude monitoring the dress code didn’t let my adidas in but had no problem letting the two dudes in front of me in both with just jeans a t shirt and addidas the bouncer is trash 👎🏾
Plenty of space and has a door to allow you access to outside without going pug of the event.
Good music and dancing! DJ great job of mixing old school and new school . Had a great time
Great place to mingle & get your dance on & the men dont mind dancing & buying you a drink !

Door man▪︎▪︎▪︎older gentlemen with a can•••single people out from out of town. He harassed us from the door to the end of the night. Horrible experience.
I Love coming to TJ’S very nice atmosphere the owner greets you if he’s out in the crowd
Awesome night club with older professional crowd. Its a great way to end the work week and its FREE!!!
Wait staff keep throwing away your drinks when you go dance. Making you buy new drinks.
