So I know my review will do nothing for this place, but I need to do this. I came for a quick bite. Sat the bar. Bartender Austin, was amazing. Big screen tvs to watch all the sports going on. The issue I had was the food. Got the spicy, TN style, chicken sandwich. It was small, to well done and lots of bread. Fries were super fresh. So come for the atmosphere.
Very chill pub with excellent food. The seasoned fries were fantastic, the Cobb salad was delicious and the fish tacos hit the spot with the large cod serving (the batter was not heavy at all). Outdoor seating is great and Allisa the server was pleasant and prompt. Definitely want to go back to try other items.
The bar tender Jessica was fantastic! Cool little karaoke bar. The DJ was rude but other than that we had a blast… and it was a Monday night
Was looking for a local bar for drinks and we found this place. Really fun and had a great time. The manager Jacob was awesome. Didnt have to wait for service. We will be going back again before we leave the San Diego area.
This place has no business making food this good! I mean, it’s a pub! I stumbled across it during Comic-Con, and decided on the shrimp ceviche for lunch. My husband said his burger was pretty good, but that ceviche’s was amazing! It was so good that I went to a Mexican restaurant for some more ceviche the next day… It did not compare. So, I had to come back on the last day of Comic-Con to order it again. Tried the wings then too; also yummy.Four stars for service, because the first waitress wasn’t attentive even though they weren’t busy. The waiter on the second visit (a guy dressed like Luigi) was excellent.
Good food and an excellent environment for sports watching. Several TVs all around the restaurant; no matter where you sit you can watch. I got Irish soup. The bread was top-notch and the soup was good, but the potatoes were too hard/under cooked. To sum up, the food is good but the vibes/sports make it worth visiting.
We stopped in for happy hour and got a couple beers and an order of garlic parm fries. They were really good and the man who brought them out also brought a few of their sauces out for us to try. The service was okay. The bar was pretty much empty besides a few people and we had to ask for refills a few times after waiting a little bit. Overall it was a good experience and it looked like the other drinks and food they had to offer were pretty good too!
Place to go for UFC fights. I love it. Decent food at a reasonable price. I recommend.
Saw good reviews for this place, mentioning hamburgers. Folks I was with ordered fish and chips. That sounded tasty so I did too. Unfortunately I was pretty disappointed. While the fish portions were very large they were soggy and the breading added nothing to them (just bland Im afraid). The dipping sauce (tarter I think) tried to salvage it but even it was rather bland. We were there in the evening, sat outside which would have been pleasant but they had a guitarist/ singer performing there. While he had a good voice he was so close to the diners and so loud that it was difficult to talk with each other. The inside looked nice so we agreed we should have sat in there instead.Service was pleasant but I orderd a beer with dinner and the beer never showed up. Lastly, this is downtown San Diego but I wouldnt call the meal a good value.Overall, I wouldnt write the place off but I would sit inside and would not order the fish and chips.
Amazing establishment, staff was super attentive and friendly. Phil at the bar was on top of it all and super fun to talk too.
Wish we could have had the chance for more than a drink at the bar, but the wait thanks to con was far too long. The drinks were really good though, and the service at the bar was fast despite the crowd. They did it up as Jurassic Pub for con, so I imagine its probably a fun place even without, since they went through all of that.
What can we say - good pub grub (I had the ribs and fries) and outdoor seating during the summer - cant beat it.
What a cool place, sat at the bar had great drinks and the bartender was fun. Great interaction. Definitely would go back if we are ever in the area again.
Best burger and fries we have had. After 5 years, our daughter still want to go back from CT.
Love this karaoke bar on Tuesday. Didnt have to wait long like Whisky Girl. They didnt have filler songs except for long enough for the KJ to put in the next song. Will definitely return!!
Great unexpected find in the Gaslamp Quarter. Friendly atmosphere, very good prices for this area and the food was great. We were happy to take advantage of the fish & chips $9 Friday special and enjoyed the beet and fried goat cheese salad.
Friendly staff. They hosted Wing Wars! 3/9/24. Fun event & will recommend to others to participate.
Was cute ... service was good 👍 . Had a small issue with some goof trying his move on my straight cousin... but the Mgr gave us a free round after my cousin almost laid him (the goof) out, 😆 lol. Drinks were a good pour 🫗. All and all stop on in if ur in town.
Loved the place!!! Got amazing garlic parmesan french fries and potato truffle chips. The french fries were so crispy with perfect flavour of garlic. Loved the karaoke!! The server was attentive too. But the best part was the drinks were so cheap and the quantity was huge!!Literally loved everything.
The ambiance was great. Everyone in there was having a great time. The staff was super friendly. Good place to go if you are looking for a fun night out. If you want something mellow then this isn’t it. But if you want to have a night full of dancing and music then this is a perfect place to go.
While visiting the Gaslamp district, we stumbled across Henry’s Pub. The atmosphere was filled with music and great food smells. The tasty food smells led the way to enjoying the artisan Mac-n-cheese jalapeño. Wow was it tasty. I opted to add the blackened chicken and shrimp for more protein. Two thumbs up.
The security guards are not respectful. Even worse is the duty manager at the night shift. They just have no idea how to treat people nicely. They think that they are the bosses they want you beg them to get entrance. It is not something I know other places like in Dubai. If you are a high end customer wants to enjoy night life, Henry’s pub is the wrong place to be in weekend at night due to the security guards. If you go there somehow, take care of the unsophisticated security guards and the duty manager, particularly if you are a visitor. They will aggressively throw you out from the pub violently, without trying to verify who you are. That’s Henry’s pub, fifth avenue, San Diego.Dr Zike
The bartender is always AMAZING...he works that strip of counter like no one else in town. Hospitable, Great Menu Knowledge. Just a fun person all the way around. The management team is always friendly and visibleLive music nights are fun.Get the burger and do not skip on the chiccharones!!! The dipping sauce is fabulous.
Enjoy this place as it reminds me of my old dive, probably cause I know some of the working people there. After a certain time, it turns into more nightlife club atmosphere with a dj and dance floor.I had their Wagu smashburger and it was delicious! Definitely recommend.
Best taste and price. Recommend garlic parmesan fries. Be careful with the hot chicken sandwich; delicious but very spicy.
Jordan is the best. Good craft beer selection. Great food. Oh yeah, Jordan is the best.
This is my favorite spot in gaslamp hands down. Great live music, delicious burgers, awesome atmosphere and they have the best bar staff I’ve ever encountered, especially the manager Steven.
Went during SDCC and the Mario theme is super fun. The food was amazing and the drinks were strong. Perfect dinner for a long day at the con.
Typical bar club. Ambience is a little lacking but nice small bar to socialize and dance. Did not eat here so no clue. Good selection of whiskey including Irish
Great little bistro. The tacos were delicious, and they had lots of options, including a scallop taco, which was delicious. Its definitely worth a visit, and the prices range from $3.50 to $5.50 per taco.
Karaoke night was lit and JP slays as karaoke dj! Would return!
Unfortunately for the server Emily, her blatant disrespect did not go unnoticed. It took over 30 minutes to be acknowledged by a fellow server who let us know our server was Emily. During this time, we managed to observe Emily tend to a group of girls who were seated next to us within 5 minutes and had waters for them right away. Soon after she had drink orders in for them. After her fellow server came and asked if we had been tended to, we let him know that he was the first to greet us and he then said he would flag Emily down to tend to us. She begrudgingly came to us and finally took our order which by that time, the level of disrespect was blatantly obvious. Unfortunately for Emily, she made the mistake to overlook our table several times over the course of half an hour while we observed her being attentive to the tables around us. I came visiting from San Francisco and was looking forward to enjoying my visit here. I generally write reviews to sing praises but this experience compelled me to speak up for reasons that it appeared that Emily showed some obvious prejudice towards our table. I will gladly share my experience with the owner and provide additional details about the demographics of the parties being tended or ignored. If you resemble anyone other than Emily, expect to be ignored.
It was a nice place. Not too crowded compared to the restaurant next to it. The BarleyMash.I had a Ranch Water which thankfully wasnt used with citrus soda. Its not meant to be a sweet drink. Only refreshing. The Pub Fries were good. Nice sized serving which filled me up. Id go to this pub again and try other items.
$12 modelo’s…their IPAs are the same price. Makes no sense. Staff seems nice but charging out the butt just because they are a block within the area they need to be to charge these prices (shocker…they’re not in that block but still want their money..). As someone who’s spends money stupidly on bars/drinks, I will not spend another dollar here. Take it how you will but this place ain’t it
Great experience, lively ambiance, good music, friendly staff, and the manager (missed on the name, a blond haired guy with a beard) was awesome. I ordered the Cluck Moo, a chicken sandwich, with a hamburger patty stacked on top, with a dab of that crazy sauce they had, nothing short of finger licking good. If this is how they were on a Sunday, even if it was before a holiday, cheers!!!!
Good and fast service, especially given its in the middle of the galaxy. But given the English pub vibe, the menu isnt very English pub-ish. The pickle fries were phenomenal, but the sandwiches we had were just okay. So it seems like the menu might be hit or miss.
Decent draft selection and good vibes in the SD gaslamp district. I went for a USMNT game that was recommended by the American Outlaws and was disappointed with the turnout. All in all, the staff were nice though and restrooms were clean.
Had a great time during hurricane Hilary with Lacy! Great service, awesome performance by Breedlove! Cheese curds are dope too
I danced the night away on a Friday. The crowd was pumping, bartenders were fast and paid attention, the dance floor was always packed and a non-pretentious crowd. The music was old school R&B and 2000 hip hop.It was fun!I didnt pay a cover but not sure because I arrived at midnight.
We came here for brunch and mimosas on a Sunday morning on Labor Day weekend. WOW. What a deal. $12 for bottomless mimosas. We had a party of 9, and our server Elijah was the best waiter I think I have ever had. One of the waitresses showed up late, so at one point Elijah was servicing nearly 15 tables or something ridiculous, but he still got us great service. I would go back here in a heartbeat next time I am in San Diego. Great food, great prices, great service. What else do you want? Oh yeah, a great street-side outdoor eating area. 10/5 stars if I could.
Fun place with great fish tacos! Menu offers a good variety to satisfy everyones taste. Service was a little slow, but it was a busy Saturday night so nothing out of the ordinary. Staff was very friendly and our server was very sweet. I definitely recommend this location.
Great service with honest feedback about the food before we ordered. The food was INSANELY good. We had the ribs, the impossible cheeseburger and garlic fries. Highly recommended!
My wife and I have been going there for years. The food is always good and the service exceptional. Its Pub and they have multiple TVs all over the place and theres always loud music playing. After 8 oclock they start breaking down tables so they have a dance floor and some form of Life music or karaoke or disc jockey. I havent seen the karaoke for quite some time for an appetizer go with the bacon wrapped shrimp it is absolutely the best. The sailing on chocolate dessert is also very nice
If your looking for a traditional Irish pub, this isn’t it, BUT it is a clean and fresh atmosphere with good music, live bands, large floor plan and attentive staff. Definitely worth a visit.
Good drinks and for the most part other staff seemed friendly. We decided to try this place out since there was hardly a line compared to the other bars nearby. We probably now know why, service is terrible. Once our waitress brought us our drinks almost a whole hour went by for her to come back. When we asked for her name after charging us the total she refused to give it to us. Very rude. Another group of people next to us never even got served and left. A simple apology for the wait and friendliness goes a long way.
The food here was really good! I came her with my aunt on her lunch break. She got fish and chips and I got a chorizo burger. They were both extremely delicious. We were the only two there at the time, but dont let the emptiness fool you! The place next door just tends to be super crowded and draws people there instead, which is a shame. The staff was extremely accommodating. I will be back! :-D
Great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. The DJ that night played good music. Security was also quick to help out when a particular guy was harassing some of the ladies there (myself included), which I definitely appreciated.Only got 4/5 because it did take a really long time to get our food. But otherwise, loved it!
We went for a happy hour at 5:30 and a head waiter told us that it included draft bears, house wine and well coctails (until 7pm). We ordered wine but when the check came we were charged full price. We said we were told there was discount on wine, but waitress said ‘yea, sorry about that’ Not sure why they lied, but definitely not going there again. If you do, make sure to confirm what the actual price is. Bas taste overall!
This is a great place with awesome food and great music. We had the Salmon Tortellini and $5 Tacos. They were great!. Also the Head Over Heals drink is the bomb! Props to our server Brianna! Thank you for a great dinner. My wife and I enjoyed being there so much.
Wasn’t a bad place, had an issue with the toast payment system the server handed me. Was programmed for a 69% tip when I went to pay, which is insane. Like legit, a 69%, followed by a 10, 12 and 20. I use a toast go system and that’s a bit shady. Food was fine, drinks were fine. That sort to me was a little sketch.
I had a fantastic night going to Henrys Pub. The food is your classic pub food, burgers, tenders, etc.I had a pub burger with garlic parmesan fries. While I wasnt a fan of the seasoning of my fries and quickly opted not to eat them, my burger more than made up for it. It was cooked extremely well.Karly(?, I cant remember her name) and Bree were awesome with service. Very attentive and had great recommendations. Thats what earns 5 stars in my book. Will be coming back again.
The place has a bunch of TVs for all the games and really nice seating outside. The outside area you can people watch and look at the traffic, seats are comfortable. VERY clean place and all the staff were friendly.Food was nothing special, it was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Prices are about $10 a sandwich which was nice. Would I eat here again? Yea maybe, but with so many other places to eat at I dont see why, I would rather try something else.
Great place genuine people very nice and easy going staff great music no cover charge I went there twice on a row clean place and fun and it was packed I really enjoyed it for all agesWith Dance floor and good price drinks and you can bring your own food if you wishGreat vibe and comfortableThey welcome you with a smileGive it a tryThank youHenry’s pub
Great service from the greeter to the server. Their ribs to start with is enough for a main meal and they were very very nice. My wife had the bacon wrapped hot dog , also very nice. The chips can be a little peppery but still nice.Worth visiting.
Great beer selection. Excellent cheese curds. Friendly waitress. Outdoor seating was great.
I really enjoy eating here. I like to sit on the patio because the people watching in this area is amazing! I always get the same thing, the spaghetti and meatballs with The Mule to drink. The service is always great, and they make sure to keep your drinks full!
Stopped in for my first time-- LOVED the bartender Lyndsay. She was so polite and fun to talk with. Definitely knowledgeable about the gaslamp, and had me laughing the whole time. Ill come back just to see her.
Love the place super family friendly, Id give it a 5 star , if my wife loved it as well. Wish they had some sort of distraction for the kids such as puzzles or drawing paper. The server dudes where awesome thank you nick.
Nice place to stop and have a pint or five. Bartender was on top of things making sure we never saw the bottom of the glass, the music was a good selection and mix and wasnt so loud that I couldnt hear myself think. Stop in and check them out, have a pint of the abnormal with an orange slice, youll be glad you did.
Execellent food and service. We had the Fish n chips, chicken tenders, hamburger and fish tacos and they were all very good. Our waitress provided excellent service and made good recommendations. Dont remember her name but she was from Staten Island, NY. Will definitely come again.
I was just looking for a place to watch a March madness game and wandered in here. I’m so glad I did! I was very impressed by the food, drinks, and service and will definitely be back.March 2023: one year later and again ended up at Henry’s watching March madness. I love this place. Hidden gem in gaslamp.
Got off to a bit of a slow start as there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant initially for Sunday brunch and naturally to a while to get drinks. Eventually more staff arrived and things settled down. Our waitress was great. Ordered a Cobb salad and grilled chicken wings, plain with side if buffalo sauce. Both were really good although Im not the biggest fan of charred style wings or burgers although it is more authentic. And they were good, especially with the buffalo sauce. They also have fried wings. Cobb salad was big enough that I brought 1/2 home.Didnt really care for their bloody Mary mix. They were ok but not my favorite. I did appreciate the bacon and pickle condiments tho! They have a good selection of spirits.
This place may have been better if they were staffed properly on a Monday night. We waited over an hour for a salad, onion rings, and a burger. The food was good but, not good enough for that type of wait. The one saving grace here was the bartender, Joe! He was a rock star. Henrys needs to hire five more people like him. Get your staffing set straight and you could get better reviews.
We got greeted and seated right away. Took 10 minutes for drink orders. When we got our drinks, we ordered food. We waited about 50 minutes for our food and the place wasnt busy at all. During that wait, our server never once came over to check ck on us- in fact, she was over at another table and took a shot. Our food eventually arrived, and was brought to us by a different server.Food was average.Chose to forego a tip in light of the lack of service.Wont be returning. ✌🏻
So much fun!!! Kinda busy for a Sunday so rotation can be long for the karaoke junkies but it was time well spent with best friend and we both sang twice in about a 3.5 hour turn. Drinks were good kinda pricey but good.
Alex was an amazing waitress/bartender!
Had a great night. We ordered the El Matador and the ribs, both were delicious the Matador was definitely well spiced but not spicy. Our server Adam was attentive and made my cocktail to order.
*DRINKS REVIEW ONLY*Not bad but not great. We came here to get some drinks for my bach when our first location turned out to be Covid central. Luckily, this place at tables outside (however, people start lingering on the sidewalk later on in the night so they are in pretty close proximity to you). Inside was another Covid fest so we definitely avoided going in there, unless we needed to use the bathroom.Just thankful we could find a place with seats outdoors and wasnt TOO crowded for a Friday night.
I have visited several times and it is always a good experience, the location is privileged and the staff is always attentive.
My wife and I visited this establishment and enjoyed their happy hour. The staff friendly and helpful especially when recommendations are needed when your not sure what to order. The appetizers are very good and go well with locally brewed beer on tap. I recommend the sweet potato fries, the veggies w/siracha hummus, and the berry and fried goat cheese salad. Give Henrys a try when in the Gaslamp district of San Diego.
I feel as though two stars is appropriate; perhaps even somewhat generous. I stumbled upon their $5 burger week and was pleasantly surprised by that at first. However, the food turned out to be just average in all aspects. I was unhappy with the quantity of mushrooms that I received for a dollar extra and asked for more but was fairly bluntly told no by the waitress. Perhaps some of the non-burger menu items are better but thanks to the poor service experience I dont believe Ill be back to find out.
It was decorated for Comic-Con which was awesome. The hostess didnt know what tables were taken but after taking a walk around figured it out and took charge of the situation they had with others that needed to be seated that had not been seated yet. We got our food quickly even though they were very busy.
Probably the worst service I’ve ever gotten. Waitress didn’t listen to order, or when we asked to split checks. Literally dropped the ticket and ran off before i could tell her to split it. The food was decent and the bar tender helped us eventually. But the total grabbing a beer and burger took over two hours.
Skipped the 20 minute wait for barleymash next door and checked this place out. Food didnt disappoint. Beer selection was just fine. Liz the waitress was great. Nice little patio for a Saturday afternoon.
Good music if you like 90s to 2000s hip hopGood drink specials and great service.
I previously gave this restaurant four stars but when I came about 7 months later everything went so downhill. The wings were soggy and the wing sauce was not very good. Pizzas were not nearly as good as the last time I visited. The service this time sucked. When we asked for blue cheese to dip our wings in, she brought us another ranch. Food was not very good and service was bad too. I wont be visiting again.
The chicken wings were excellent. A bit pricey, but about the same as any other Gaslamp pub. The manager stopped at our table to talk and she was very nice.
Stopped in an hour before closing on a Saturday night. Heard good music from sidewalk asked security at the door if I could expect this music for the rest of the night, not true. No big deal bit paid $10 per person to said security guard which after seemed fishy. Hot and muggy inside. Sound system was good. 1 point deduction for being hot, 1 point deduction for being felt like taken advantage by security guard.
A cool place to drink. I cam during a busy night and the bartender was pretty busy, but she got us our drinks. Sat with some friends to get food, and while the food was delicious, it took quite awhile to get the food, drinks, and bill taken care of when we sat at a table. Though Ill give some credit since it was during a down town Halloween celebration.
Waitress was Ashley, awful service.Wouldve rated higher had she taken more than 1 glance per half hour to see that our drinks were empty, and when she did go to grab refills it took even longer. The place was absolutely dead so theres no excuse there.Very fake personality with a lot of attitude, not friendly in the slightest.Food was pretty decent though, steaks had no taste but the nacho chips and wings were great.
To my pleasent surprise, the food was so tasty! So well seasoned and cooked to perfection. I had the chicken linguini with grilled veggies and my boyfriend had the Mamas grilled salmon. Both very delicious! The service was excellent and the stone IPA draft was awesome as well.
We went after a Padres win! The DJ was rockin and had people on the dance floor. They have good beer specials and plenty of seating. They serve food but we havent eaten there. Its in the middle of the Gas Lamp area.
Came here while we were at Comic Con. Ali was the reason we stayed for multiple rounds. Not only were the drinks fast, her recommendations were great and she went above and beyond! Can’t wait to come back!
Wait staff was awesome! Drinks were on point ( try their go to shot) food was typical pub/bar food a bit pricy for what it was..but still really good. Also deep fried pickle chips 10/10
Staff were extremely friendly, professional, and helpful. Food and drinks were awesome! It was especially fun on karaoke nights!
Casual american bar, decent drinks, food and service. If you are looking for a chill sports pub this is a good place to start. But if you are looking for a fancy restaurant in Gas lamp look elsewhere.
Great place to eat in the Gaslamp District of San Diego. Hostess was very helpful. Our table was near her so we talked to her quite a bit. She offered a lot of recommendations for our visit to the area.
Decent food ,sloooooow service. My wifes order came out after 45 minutes but mine did not. The manager was apologetic and comped my dish and offered a second drink on the house. Nothing like waiting 1 hour plus for a burger.
Love this place!! They just closed 😭I reeeaalllyyy hope they’ll come back after the places re-open. They have live music & that is sorely needed around town, especially the Gaslamp area. I mean, good live music. The kind you want to listen to all night, not the kind you cringe at here & there.... and, their drinks are great.
Quick and polite service, but food is nothing memorable. We were here on a Wed. night during our week long vacation in southern CA. Looking for a quick and casual meal with our teenagers. I had a roasted vegetable salad with added shrimp. It was iceberg lettuce with a few roasted vegetables at the bottom of the bowl and a few small shrimp thrown in. My daughters pizza did not have a crispy crust. My sons fish n chips was ok. Husbands wings were decent. Recommend improving food experience, then they will earn a following.
Had a great time having drinks here. We didnt eat but was told by other patrons the food was good. Service was great and everyone were so polite and friendly.
I came here this past October to watch the Chargers vs. Jets game. I liked it. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly and I like how the bar has two tiers. I would come here again. I had chicken tenders. I thought they were good. This is where the Jets meetup goes for games as well I believe.
Decent place to sit and soak up the Gaslamp atmosphere. A minor was ok the enter, sit outside, and stay until about 9pm, but not later. Weird from a European perspective, but when in Rome......
Nice clean bar and bathrooms you dont see very often and good atmosphere to hang out with friends
Nice, laid back place. Staff was friendly. Music playing was top rock hits. Food for our large event was okay (tacos, pasta w/ grilled chicken, BBQ chicken bites on a tortilla chip), nothing out of this world, but I was not disappointed and left with a full belly.
Wandering around the Gaslamp Quarter looking for delicious yet affordable food seemed to be a bit of a challenge... until we found Henrys Pub. The menu looked good, the staff were really friendly and there was a fantastic musician playing some sick tunes on his guitar- our prayers had been answered! We sat at one of the booths and ordered a round of drinks plus some fries first up- I had the $10 Pinot Noir and it was honestly so delicious! The fries came out quickly but were unsalted which was a little bizarre but I also tried some of the seasoned fries and they were perfect! For my Main meal I had the BBQ Pork Torta with a side of Onion Rings and it was to die for! The sauce was absolutely perfect and the pork was super tender and easy to eat, same with the bread. I actually hate onion rings but these were super tasty! I ended up eating at least three of them.Great service, great atmosphere and really tasty food! I would come here again!
Cross between a pub and a upscale bar and a dance club. Identify issues. DJ was playing great music that got people dancing on the area of the restaurant they cleared for the dance floor. food was over priced for the quality. Had their Cali Vanilla cream beer, barely had any vanilla tasting to it.
Beautiful girls serving you Al fresco style while you watch the chaotic cavorting of people in gaslight district. Whats not to love? The food is great too and the place becomes a party scene later in the night.
Highly recommend this super fun place! Happy hour is amazing, staff is awesome, live music was fantastic.we went back a few times for food and drink while we were in SD and we will definitely be back on our next visit!
Whats wonderful and Ive actually had really good space for handicapped person with a walking device so it was a wonderful place for handicapped person to see a movie. It was the perfect place for the disabled to enjoy. Thank you for honoring the Ada.
Great sports pub in the gaslamp district with outstanding service and tables both inside and outside. Bar food, drinks, happy hour discounts. Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy sports.
All the food we got here was good, but the garlic parmesan fries and pickle fries were out of this world. Both were nice and crispy, which isnt easy to do for either!
You already know its going to be expensive because its downtown. But also it definitely does keep the perks of the pub life (like tables and chairs and booths) while giving you the taste of the nightlife in downtown (DJS are loudly spinning top hits). And waitresses will come by to take drink orders at tables, too, so just go a bit early and snag one and enjoy the rest of your night.
Great pub. A must-visit place when you are in San Diego. Henrys has survived the saturation phase to the recession crunch to the new saturation phase of an ever-changing San Diego night life. It is always full. The karaoke nights make it feel more homey and local, despite on occasion the enebriated singer who is way off pitch.
Good place for casual food and drinks. I had the fish and chips and it was excellent. Big chunks of cod prepared perfectly. Will be back on our next trip to San Diego!
This is a favorite place for my wife and I. We travel 35 miles to go here to itOne of our favorite appetizers is bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp with an aoli sauce. The service is excellent as well as the food.
Male waiter was very nice! My breakfast sand & Bloody Mary were super great ! The loud music took me back about 40 years. Thanks for that!
Visiting from out of state and stopped by with good friends from Kubasaki High School to cut loose on a weekend and have a good time!
Highway robbery!!! Just dont go there if you dont want them to steal your money..We went out 8 friends tonight for a drink and some fun.. all went great until the waitress despaired for half and hour and when she came back she decided to charge everyones bill 10$ more.. out of her good heart.. a whole bunch of excuses but nothing more.Do yourself a favor and stay a way from this place.
The atmosphere was nice, but the DJ needs to play more of a mixer of music.
Great service, food was fantastic just a little pricy but worth it imo.
Not enough bartenders. Then the bar keep wanted to get the order of another person before me when I was waiting a long time and the other person just came up. I gave my order anyway. Bar keep made both our orders at same time so for me I was ok, but then bar keep purposely put my change down in the wet part of the bar where drinks are made instead of the wood bar, making sure to put the higher bills down first. Dont like bartenders that play games or try to take my money. I was nice the whole time and didnt say anything until bartender asked for the order. I will not return, Ill go to another bar that appreciates me.
Great place for a group happy hour. Excellent flow throughout the indoor/outdoor setting, prompt and friendly service. A few snacks (nothing special) and a nice beer selection.
Chase is a great manager that assured me and my friends had a great time for the superbowl!!! The bar tenders and servers were great as well. Great attitudes and energy!!!
Love this place. In the heart of Gaslamp, Mark and his team run an awesome venue at Henrys Pub to make it a local go-to for good food, great drinks and an awesome time! Theres always something happening at Henrys, with a different theme everyday of the week. The venue offers a great selection of local brews including Stone, Karl Strauss and Ballast Point, and some awesome menu items like the Cluckmoo Burger that marries a deliciously fried chicken breast atop a juicy beef burger along with all the usual toppings... you gotta try it!
Basic bar on the 5th Avenue, no cover charge. But beware, friend got her phone stolen from her purse.
Nick Brown was the best. He made my bachelorette party fun and entertaining. Bomb dot com. Please come here and get shots with them. It’s worth it
Our server was EXTREMELY unattentitive. She didnt say a word to us for half an hour instead she was standing around talking to coworkers and on her phone. The food was not good enough quality for the price. 0 out of 10 never again.
Fantastic atmosphere. From the great live music to the outstanding food, this place could create a memorable night with friends. Overall, very impressed. Try the fish tacos.
1 of 3 for food (good) because I didnt eat here but had to rate it. Looks like an Irish pub to me! You should be able to spill a beer here without getting yourself wet; they have a great bar ledge. Rock n Roll classics and lots of liquor.
Went to Henrys after an extremely HOT day watching my Chargers play at Qualcomm. While on vacation for my BIRTHDAY we watched the Sunday night NFL game with my close friends and family. After a couple hours and in the middle of the 4th quarter Cody (manager ) asked me to leave because I was wearing a tank top and didnt have on a collard shirt. He went on to suggest that his waitresses that helped me and my family felt uncomfortable and called the police to throw me out. I felt completely offended by the accusations. I never caused a scene. I was totally surprised by the BS statement that that we had done anything to make the waitresses feel uncomfortable. The other customers sitting around who saw us were in shock as much as I was by the unfair treatment. The manager sent his security officer over to ask us to leave as well. I felt this experience had nothing to do with my tank top. Over 90% of the employees were wearing tank tops. Codys (the manager) behavior was rude and unprofessional. I voiced that I thought what he was doing was unfair and disrespectful also considering we had already spent a few hundred dollars and still had food and drinks to finish and the game was still on. The SD police never came to throw me out even though he called them right in front of my table. I listened to him lie to the police that I was doing things I never did. The way I was treated was uncalled for. He sighted he was enforcing their rules. They shouldve never sat me and my family down to serve us for a couple hours during the game if my tank top didnt meet the dress code of a pub in downtown gas lamp on a hot Sunday. To ask me to leave in the middle of the family time on my last night in SD was foul and again unprofessional. Cody stated he was following the owners rules and didnt care how ridiculous the scenario was. I never caused a scene despite the poor treatment and threats to have the police escorts me out.I wouldnt have taken any time to mentioned that the service was terrible. Despite the poor service we were having a good time for my BIRTHDAY. Its unfortunate the night ended the way it did. It was totally unnecessary and avoidable. I would never suggest anyone to do any business with Henrys.
Great place at the buzzing gaslamp. People here are super friendly and helpful. My no Brainer spot for sending some time with friends when I am in area...
Awesome prices. Highly recommend the garlic parm fries. They pair well with a cold beer.
Me and my wife stopped by for a quick bite to eat one night and were delightfully surprised by the decent prices for a downtown pub. On top of that, the chicken fingers were soo good I had to compliment the chef.
Barman with a ranger hat did not want to serve us because we did not tip even though it was our first drink of the night. Absolutely never coming again. He made us wait 20 minutes at the bar to rip us off
Theres something happening at Henrys every night of the week.Got a hankering for Coronas? Stop by Henrys on Tuesday and Thursday from 10-11pm for $2 Coronas.$3 Happy Hour (drafts, wells, and wine) from 3-7:15 p.m., Monday to Friday.Come for the drinks and music, stay for the food. Great homemade chicken tenders!
I was in there with two friends from out of town that were ready to drop some real coin that evening. Last Saturday 11/11, we stopped in to the bar around 8pm. There is only 3-4 people sitting at the bar and the 3 of us then sat at the bar in the middle where no one was sitting. The bartender looked over and turned his head and did nothing. We waited a bit, then he walks over and says these bar stools at the bar were reserved!! Understand this was our first place we stopped because we looked in and the bar was empty. Of course we left and spent $1000 somewhere else ( the Field, Flemmings and Pedi ride ).. ATTENTION OWNER: Fire that bartender. ( Old, beat white guy ) I hate to say it, I think maybe, because I was with people of color, he refused service? In fact, I would check the cameras and run him out of there, ok?
Surf and turf burrito was absolutely delicious and had a really nice, chipper young lady who served us was Alex5/5 service5/5 food+decent specials
Waitress had a great personality and seats were very comfortable. We just had beer so cant comment on food.
During the Jets-Chargers game in October 2014, this was a Jets fans home pub. Great service by the staff all around and fair prices for the area! Havent felt at home at a pub in quite some time, for that weekend.. =)
Went for some pre game drinks!
Low key bar. Great bar staff. Nice place to grab a drink the shrimp tacos did not disappoint.
Great service. Music wonderful not so loud you could not talk to the person who you are with.Food perfect. Drinks were fantastic. Thanks for a great time.
Great experience. Good food. Stiff drinks.
Great live music (Cassie B), good service and great atmosphere
Went here with 8 coworkers to have a drink. For some reason in 2021 they couldnt do separate checks, which is crazy to me. I ended paying $60.00 for my two beers. Save yourself the trouble and aggravation dont go here. Total ripoff.
The drinks were good, so were the fries.I ordered a fried chicken sandwich though, and it tasted like it was fried in the same oil as the fish was.
Cool spot with great service. The music was definitely louder than Id like (pubs are supposed to be a more communal atmosphere) so it was more like a bar than a pub but nevertheless it was a good bar.
I get that its a holiday weekend but when you say Sunday pitcher specials (no price point) rather than saying you dont have them... push the price up or have an exclusion at the bottom of your advertising!!
Before you get your friends customer, focus on your original customers. Dont forget the orders!waste our tips for her👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Terrible. Just waited for 20 minutes at the bar to get one drink and the bartender never even looked at me. So many other better options in Gaslamp.
On a whim went here. Food was good. Baked wings, burger amd chicken sandwich were fantastic! Would highly recommend this place!
Good drinks. Big booths. Quaint. Outside seating.
Great night out, staff and punters are friendly, nice little dance floor and good music/dj. They do food during the day and will have to get myself down there.
We always look for pubs when we travel. Burger and homemade chips were delicious. Good selection of draft beer. Staff were super friendly.
Server was absolutely amazing, fast with drinks and food. Sat outside at night and just truly enjoyed ourselves. The fish and chips was to die for!!!
Great , friendly service .Good food , good choices and very good value for money .The place has a very good relaxed atmosphere .
Very warm and welcoming environment. Mark was a great bartender who really makes the experience. He makes you feel like Norm.
Wow, the food is amazing! The sweet chili ribs and poutine are incredible!
Nice selection of food. Horrible service, came around noon, not too busy but our waitress was not on top of anything. Forgets drinks until reminded, doesnt ask if we need anything. Just bad service, the food was decent though especially for the prices.
Pub burger was good. Stay away from the pickle fries. Atmosphere was chill. Great place to watch a game
Friendly atmosphere. Try the fish tacos. They are huge and delicious. The service is wonderful. Glad we discovered it.
Awesome place!!! Such a good live misuc, drink, and service!!! Also thanks to Chris for being the best manager!!! 10/10
Had a blast here. Beer was decently priced and enjoyed their karaoke night. If I was a local, this would be one of my hangouts.
