Cheap drinks. Performers with lots of experience! But make a reservation. Cash only!We had booked a table in advance, anticipating watching a drag show. The show featured performers with lots of drag experience! It was fun :)The drinks were very cheap as I mentioned.

Wanted to check out this place since seems to be a SF institution. Walked in after walking 25 minutes in the cold and was told I’ve had enough to drink. I thought he was joking at first! Atmosphere was dead anyway, just wanted to support these kind of places but guess not. If you’re not a regularly or bitter don’t bother.

The cutest (my opinion) and oldest (as stated by all of the locals) drag bar in all of SF. The drink specials are cheap and the locals are friendly.Come out on one of their special days (Fridays and Saturdays) for drag!

Aunt Charlies is great! Were from out of state, but everyone present was so friendly and gregarious towards us that we immediately felt right at home. We were also very, very fortunate to swing by just in time for a charity drag show raising funds for the ACLU Drag Defense Fund, which was an amazing cause and wound up with us spending more money here than anywhere else during our trip! 😂Its a very cozy vibe, and both the staff and regulars go far out of their way to make sure everyone feels safe and welcome. At one point a very sweet woman named Faun came by to check in on us and to assure us this was a safe place and that they wouldnt tolerating us being made to feel otherwise. An absolutely wonderful experience, one which will definitely be a motivator to come back to the bay area as soon as we can!

Walked from my hotel because it was the closest gay bar to me. Walk was easy and lots of police presence. The bar itself feels like a VFW bar and that makes sense as it’s run by a veteran. The guys were naturally friendly and it was super low key. Sounded like a boombox playing eclectic music that many sang along with often. I came on a random Wednesday, early in the evening so no parties or drag queens. I had two very strong, cheap drinks and some great conversations so I wouldn’t say anything bad about the place. It is what it is and I’m not mad about it lol

Im sure Id enjoy it more if Id gone during a time where more people my age were there. If Delores park is the summer of San Francisco aunt Charlies is definitely Xmas day... Literally they apparently keep the place decorated for Xmas with a tree and presents it was a bit confusing but I know where I want to go if Im ever feeling in the Xmas spirit even if its in the middle of July. I also like that they serve non-alcoholic beer.

Such a great spot. Chill vibe, the friendliest people, and cheap drinks. I even had one too many of the very affordable drinks, left my work bag under the bar, and came back a couple days later—bag totally in tact. They’d kept it safe for me! Couldn’t recommend more

Staff was more worried about the entrance fee being covered than to have a better way to threat out of town visitors for pride weekend, me and my partner weren’t even acknowledged by the long haired bartender at all, tried to get his attention unsuccessfully so we just left.

The front door guy was very nice but the place is tiny. The bartender is doing his job but is understaffed and over-grumpy! The ladies seem sweet but are not very attractive and generally terrible at lip sync. It was nothing but lip syncing with no humor or other activities. I have been to a few other drag shows and this was by far the most lame. Definitely not returning.

I went to the hotboxxxgirls show on Saturday evening with 2 others. We reserved seating the morning of and showed up at 10PM. We had a great time. All these people complaining about the Queens/MC being rude or not being able to dance/stand in the aisle are idiots. Drag shows are a place where you might get called out. Roll with the punches. And they clearly state at the beginning of the show that the rules include no dancing with the Queens and keeping the aisle clear. Go check it out!

High fantasy on Tuesday nights is my fav drag show in the world. Queer crowd and Myles Cooper is a tremendous host, both as a DJ, presenter and lipsyncer. 7 years later this remains my favorite party on this planet!

Review №21

Worst drag bar I’ve ever been to. The MC shamed us constantly on the mic for not tipping, even though we were. Referred to our group of nine, who were all in town for a bachelorette party, as “dumb white girls”Not all of us were white, or women. I get that drag queens are suppose to be funny and play with the audience, but we were literally being shamed and made to feel uncomfortable the entire time we were there. As a member of the LGBT community it was sad to see a place like this representing us in such a terrible light. Also, the drinks are cheap, yes, but you’re getting cheap alcohol.... We ordered Tito’s and soda all night and it definitely tasted like the shittiest vodka you could find in a gas station for $4.99 a bottle. Definitely will not be returning

One of the best bars still in the tenderloin the heart if the City, the people are all friendly, the bar tenders are great, and the owner Joe is such a sweetheart, most of the shows include some type of food. There are several drag shows, something for everyone...if you go you will have a good time, if you dont its your own fault...

Sunday night. Juke box, which we normally love but the music was filled with sleepy music and surprisingly country music. Only one Tranvisite and a small group of regulars. The only excitement was the bartender screaming at a crazy homeless man. If you really need a placed to drink on a Sunday go here. If you want a gay old time, this is not the place.

We tried to go in here to meet our friends that had a table. As we walked in and paid, the employees were really angry and rude. They told us if we wanted to watch the show we would have to sit in the back and not with our friends who reserved a table. They didnt kick is out but gave us no choice but to leave. Extremely Agro and rude, at one point I thought the door guy was going to attack us when I tried to tell my friends what was going on. Avoid this establishment

An old-school establishment, this party not only has endless San Francisco queer history behind it, but the perfect mixture of fun parties (Tuesdays High Fantasy, Thursdays Tubesteak Connection, Friday and Saturdays Hot Boxxx Girls) and super-chill dive bar evenings.Support this vital landmark of the San Francisco scene. Its the best!
