Top notch venue for events from corporate to EDM dance music. Staff is amazing and so accommodating! Makes the world of a different on event there to have Midway staff support you!! Variety of spaces large and small with connections to music and decor if needed. Ive enjoyed every event here from art gallery to pop up dinner and of course dance! Just GO! Enjoy!
While the crowd brings an undeniable energy, the music, apart from intermittent standout performances by DJs, fails to impress me. The relentless pounding rhythm caters predominantly to a stoned audience. Furthermore, the exorbitant prices, akin to those found in upscale restaurants, including a minimum of $11 for a beer, are off-putting. It seems the main attraction is getting intoxicated and surrendering to mindless dancing, which may not resonate with everyone.
My first time seeing a show here. Had a great time. There are many areas to get away from the crowd if needed, some out side. I saw Crankdat so it was packed tight in one of the big rooms. We had VIP which I was not sure what that was. For this show it was just VIP bathroom access and a vip bar area. I believe that changes with each show. If the VIP does not list any extras like meeting the artist or a fee drink, its not part of VIP. The bathroom access was nice but maybe not woth the extra cost of the ticket for me at $80. Parking can be tricky . I prepaid for parking at a lot about .8 miles from the venue. Our car was safe there. There is parking along the street but I think it can fill up fast and also your car will be out in the open in SF.
We were there for Steve Angello’s music show and had a fantastic experience! The venue is spacious with a variety of food and drink options, including a small outdoor area for breaks during the show. We visited on International Weed Day and thoroughly enjoyed the music and vibes. Overall, it was a memorable experience, and I had a great time just vibing to the music.
The midway is such a great place to go too , the vibe there is always great , I can’t count how many new friends I made every single time there’s a new event there , very nice place to dance and chill at , the big main stage and the side stage they have are dope! Definitely come here guys ! Such a great spot !
I would rate this venue better, but their restroom situation is HORRIBLE. Be prepared to wait in line for 30+ minutes if you’re a woman. Seriously, how is this legal for a venue of this size to only have two restrooms available? They usually have really decent acts, too. Their block parties are fun, but I actually avoid this venue because of the lack of restrooms. That’s how bad it is.
Ive been to hundreds of music venues from Coast to Coast. Midway is hands down one of the nicest venues Ive ever been to. The sound system in the two rooms that were open sounded absolutely spectacular. The LED walls were lacking in no way whatsoever. Definitely some of the crispus visuals Ive seen at a club / venue. The huge kitchen was a delightful treat to say the least. The Midway is on top of my list. I will be returning quite often. All the Stafford very professional, courteous, polite and helpful. I did not realize that code check closed an hour before the event I was attending ended. Luckily the staff were very understanding and accommodating with helping me to reacquire my favorite coat. Thank you so much by the way. I really appreciate everything you guys do. My only complaint is, Perfect Stranger should have been on the big stage. He played one of the most amazing sets Ive ever had the honor to attend!P. S. It would be a great honor to slay the decks at your amazing venue. I bring the heat dropping bangers!!! 🔉🔊🫡
Spacious venue with multiple stages, indoor and outdoor. Attended the fresh start festival on New Years. Lines are obviously long at restrooms, as expected, though there are plenty of bars so rarely have to wait in line for a drink. Eat before you go, its impossible to get food in a packed event. For larger crowds this place definitely needs more food vendors inside the venue.
For a place already known for throwing fantastic nighttime parties and raves, I humbly argue that lunch is not to be missed. The Brooklyn sandwich and crispy French fries followed by a warm salted chocolate chip cookie will make any weekday feel like a celebration. Also the people rock.
One of the best venues in the bay to see live music, indoors and outdoors. They also offer a variety of other events like roller disco with, again, amazing music.Parking is a little suss. I would recommend ride sharing.
I really enjoy this venue, been here a few times for different events. They utilize the space well, great sound quality, various food and drink options.Wish the outside stools were not so uncomfortable.
A nice venue for music, although it is out of the way. My only real gripe is that the door was left open to an outside smoking area, and I felt like I smoked half a pack before the show even began while waiting in front of the stage. Be better about that please!
I recently visited a dance club expecting a typical night out, but found the atmosphere different from what I anticipated. While diversity and inclusivity are important, I felt uncomfortable with some public displays of affection that seemed more suited for private settings. I hope the management can consider this feedback to ensure the club meets the expectations of a broader audience, maintaining a comfortable environment for everyone.
I attend about twenty concerts a year. I fly to different cities and states for shoz. Ive been to over thirty venues in the last two years. This venue is absolutely incredible. First of all, it is gigantic. I was just there to watch the 2023 d j championship finals and I couldnt get enough of this place. There is a bar way in the back of the performance. Area where you can see the performance from that distatance from either side of the bar. There are 2 more bars off to the side of the huge performance space.Theres also a large back patio where you can sit and enjoy your drinks, or have a smoke. Yes, theres more -There is a mini restaurant attached to this place as well where you can order pizzas does chicken fingers french fries etc. And a few first come, first serve tables.I live in San Diego. But I will definitely fly up here for another quality show.
AMAZING! One of San Francisco best kept hidden secret! This venue can shape & shift into many forms with a stellar full kitchen, artist studios, full power, kickbutt sound and lighting crew, and the extraordinary friendly staff and amazing management! Love this venue. Always a amazing epic adventure and experience. Always support your local venue and artist ❤
For anyone who has recently attended LARGE events, where do you (safely/legally) PARK ? Is there actually PARKING? Are the side streets OK or are there tow-away enforcements? We have to drive to the PRIDE event coming up. TIA
Recently had the pleasure of visiting The Midway, and I must say that it is by far my favorite music venue to go to. Every time I visit, I have an absolute blast and create lasting memories with my friends. Its important to note that The Midway is usually a cash-only venue, but they do have ATM machines available, which makes things more convenient. The venue can set up three or more stages, which creates a mini-festival vibe that is absolutely electrifying. The Midway truly stands out for its incredible music performances. The vibe is always lively and energetic, and theres never a dull moment.Overall, I highly recommend The Midway to anyone looking for a fantastic night out with friends. The atmosphere, music, and energy are unbeatable, and I cant wait to continue making more memories at this amazing venue.
The midway is a great venue, it is very comfortable. It accommodates a lot of people; however it is easy to get to the front with the dj. there are two dance areas which are very comfortable, plus two patios, an art gallery, two vip areas, a restaurant with decent snacks, the staff is nice, strong drinks, and of course, always the best performers. Most international DJs have played in this venue, burners fundraisings, and they host all sorts of other events during the day. There is valet parking, and also plenty of street parking, also accessible by public transportation, across from a power plant, in a warehouse area, but a couple blocks from Potrero and new luxury residential. I’ve always felt perfectly safe around there. This is truly a world class venue.
They sell out multiple rooms and outside then close off everything but main. Unsafe lack of space in the crowds sometimes, the sound is okay at best, bar is underwhelming and expensive, food is expensive, bathrooms are great.
Saw deorro! The concert was amazing, definitely a good venue for a first time raver. Bring cash, atms at entrance, drinks kind of expensive but thats expected. Guys bathroom had virtually no line and wasnt just a trough. Music at the perfect volume but still bring ear plugs. Bartenders are fast and efficient but try to get drinks before the main headliner comes on. Highly recommend!
Came here for the emo brunch. Worth $50? Not by far. Maybe $15 a person is more adequate.6 or 7 tables spread out on their court with no umbrellas. The drinks have little to no alcohol. Like in not even exaggerating. Theres a projector with music blaring, no actors no anyone interacting or trying to make the event more lively. The only people that were there was the people bringing the food who were no were near in the theme. No merch as advertised(not that Id buy anything after this experience), the drink menu was different, and the food was... meh.It feels like someone organized this, hyped it up and did the absolute minimum to put this together. The only emo thing about this was some of the people who came and the girl checking tickets out front.I hardly leave reviews, however for this I needed to.
Saw Sevendust, Static X and Dope here recently. 1st time to this venue. Liked the setup, lots of bar counter space. Bigger inside than I thought it would be. Food was meh, but rarely is food good at any of these places.
Good amount of space. Terrible air circulation. Another night club that doesnt understand what an exhaust fan is but the only reason its three stars is because of whomever hires the bands and acts that put on music
Went here NYE 2017. Reminds me of an old school underground industrial rave club gone legit. The party I attended had a huge lack of free water dispensers which lost the venue a star.. Great production and sound but water is highly important and not everyone wants to pay $3 per bottle. That said it was a great show, staff was professional and the bathroom lines were manageable.
Security was cool, venue is 10/10 except its kinda far from downtown so you will need to uber. But Hella fun
Fun venue when full, but the bartender added an extra tip for themselves to my friend and I (10% on my card, 5% on my friends). Make sure to save your receipts.
This is a really cool venue with both inside and outside spaces and a restaurant. I had a great time at the show I came for.
One of the best music venues in the Bay Area. Excellent sound, tasty cocktails, can’t wait for the next show.
I paid $189 (plus fees) for a VIP ticket to XOXO on June 29, 2024. The ticket says Above & Beyond - Aquaria Pride Weekend Block Party At The Midway. The fine print on the ticket says 2:00 pm to 10 pm. On the website you have to expand the event details to see its only for Above and Beyond and not Aquaria. You can get the same VIP tickets on the XOXO website for less and its for both events. No way to contact The Midway or TIXR. I wish I was aware of these details before I bought the ticket. My oversight, but disappointed The Midway would not make this more obvious.
Its a pretty cool open area for concerts. Nothing super amazing but the space was fairly large and the inside part of the venue was a bit hipster like
Sister, Mother, Crone is a culinary treasure waiting to be discovered. From the moment our party of six women stepped inside, we were captivated by the charm and warmth of this pop-up restaurant. The cocktails at Sister, Mother, Crone are truly something special. Each sip was a delightful journey of flavors. And then there was the chicken – tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Cooked to perfection and served with a delectable array of sides. One of us is vegan and they were a great amount of options for her. Of course, no meal at Sister, Mother, Crone would be complete without the perfect wine pairing. The selection was impeccable, with options to suit every palate and preference, we loved their Sparkling Rosé.But perhaps what truly set Sister, Mother, Crone apart was its ambiance. The cozy atmosphere, combined with the hum of conversation, created an atmosphere of warmth. In conclusion, Sister, Mother, Crone is more than just a restaurant If youre looking for an unforgettable dining experience, look no further than Sister, Mother, Crone. Trust me, you wont be disappointed and hurry up is a pop-up restaurant.
I think if you’re a couple or group or older you might enjoy this place. It was big, clean and manicured. I wanted to go and rave and it lacked a lot. The crowd was extremely rude - if I wasn’t getting crowded I was constantly getting swiped by someone’s bag. You allowing bags is an absolute joke, so many people with backpacks taking up extra room when there isn’t any available. I absolutely wouldn’t return and one the worst experiences.
Nice large venue for music and shows. No noise restrictions, big warehouse space, and secluded from the main city.
Have only been to this venue for raves, but its a nice spot, has an art gallery, and has a small restaurant. Spacious bathrooms and 3 bars. No matter where you are, you have a great view up the stage
One of SF well known clubs with a outdoor stage. Had lots of fun and it close to docks and DT. Recommended location.
As with all bigger venues in the US, they make a sport of ripping off people. Getting VIP tickets for an event, advertised on their website having a separate viewing area, lounge access, ... Reality is we walked into the venue on the side entrance, no ticket check, hassle to get into the restaurant with security who are not helpful. We went back outside after having food (the restaurant experience was nice & friendly), we went through the actual entrance. Security moaning we were smoking on the sidewalk, not even in the queue while literally everyone else is vaping (hypocrisy to the top with these snowflakes). We still had to pay for coat check despite saying on their website it was complementary for VIP tickets. There was no separate viewing area as advertised. And last but not least at the entrance security giving us attitude they are doing this for years. I can only say, go to Europe and experience how actual parties are thrown and how clubs work properly. What a laugh ...
The mainstage is the best venue of this size to see a show. The sound is great, the stage and lighting is amazing, and they put on a great, fully-immersive entertainment experience. There are a bunch of downsides to this venue, though. It is not in a convenient location, as it is not easily accessible to efficient public transportation (MUNI is not efficient). The outside shows are a pretty poor viewing experience, especially the giant block parties. The venue also unapologetically gouges patrons who want to buy a ticket at the door (Ive seen them jack up the price by about 50%).The biggest issue I have here, however, is the time management of the performances. This venue thinks its funny to withold posting set times in order to trick patrons into showing up 4 or 5 hours before the headliner comes on. Shows usually start at 8:00pm-ish, but the headliners could come on at 9 or they could start closer to 1. Makes for a very boring, exhausting night. Ive had to leave the venue before the headliners come on because they come on waaaay too late after Ive been there for hours. I have also shown up late to avoid that situation only to find out that the headliners started at 9:30 instead of like 11.In addition, they are not very conscious of people who prefer to take public transportation into the city to avoid traffic and/or parking, as ending a show after midnight is inconvenient, unnecessary, and quite frankly bad for their business. If I am ever on the fence about attending a show here, I usually opt out because of how inconvenient they choose to make the whole experience. There have been more than enough incidences where Ive been price gouged at the door here only to miss the act I came to see and missed the last train to the East Bay so I have to spend even more money on Ubers when I would have saved a lot of time, aggravation, and money if I would have just stayed home.Overall, this is a great venue at which to see a show. However be prepared for a lot of aggravation when you go as well.
Fun venue. Good sound. Like no security presence. Little sketch if people get too drunk. Would like nonalcoholic beer options 😂
Cool place. Very free to do what you like: drink, smoke, dance, etc. I didnt like that there were no ins and outs privileges, but I dont know if that was just for this specific event. The space is huge with nice bigscreens and lighting which really adds to the ambiance. And the outdoor area is really nice, especially on a warm summer day.
Hot as ever in that Thang! Nice venue overall, but geez when theres 1500 people in there please turn the fans on. Oh...also got BIPPED! Yikes folx....
Terrific venue with an industrial-techno vibe. State if the art sound and light system. Easy parking The staff was very helpful with seating at the show for a friend who is handicapped. Exceeded expectations! Seems to specialize in events for a younger crowd.
The “summer ain’t over party” hosted on november 19th advertised and labeled very much as a summer walker event was anything but. for almost 5 hours the crowd waited, even chanting summers name at one point, just for summer to greet front row and smoke on stage. i get it if she’s not there to sing and didn’t get paid to sing; girl don’t sing if you didn’t get paid to, but for the entire event to be centered around summer walker when management full heartedly knew she wasn’t performing is false advertising. deleting the even post from social media because the comments were flooded with complaints is also incredibly unprofessional. this would have been the first time i’ve seen summer walker and really my first performance type event like this so i personally am super disappointed as i, like many others, had been looking forward to a SUMMER WALKER performance for a while now. bye, never coming back. summer if you see this, ily girl and this is nothing bad on you. you were great and you served face fr.
Dance and art space. This was my first time back post-covid, and I liked that theres a large outdoor patio with bench seating and DJ sets. Parking was okay just read the signs. All staff were very friendly and kind. At least 3/4 rooms were handicapped accessible, from memory...maybe all but I think one was a step-down. All in all good vibes.
Discovered this spot on 04202023. I came to SF for hippy hill festivities which included Erykah Badu. Turns out there was an after party. So I dragged my brother with me. We got grub from the food truck and partied into the early morning 🌄. Thank you Erykah aka Dj Loretta Brown 🤎 🎶 💃💻🎵🎛️ I havent felt that kinda hang over (no booze needed) in more years than I choose to age myself with...lol anyway I will be keeping an
Great space with a large setup. I was lucky enough to catch a second show that wasnt as crowded as the first. Aside from the main stage area, there is a large outdoor patio, a restaurant (unsure of the options), and a few other spaces to escape to if you need a break. Beautifully lit, art installations that rotate.Im sure the crowd changes according to the performers, but everybody I encountered was kind and respectful.
I love this place! The best venue in SF. Great sound, friendly staff, very organized.Check out their block parties!
Went to Boris Brejcha and the crowd was great, drinks were strong, and bathrooms were clean. Great venue.
This venue has so much potential to be the best venue in the entirety of northern California. Sound and production are pretty top tier, though its really quiet near the back of the crowd. My main issue is the way they oversell tickets and the crowd honestly. Security is always super nice and Ive never had issues with the venue itself. I think they just need to market to a better crowd and cut down on ticket sales. Giant lines at both bathrooms always, impossible to get around anywhere. People that are there are not really the nicest and usually zombied out. Just always super crowded for no reason. Other than that this place has everything a great venue should have
One of my favorite venues, quality staff, they usually have yummy food for sale, amazing that they have medical staff on site too 🫶🏽
Great venue, super spacious, one of the best sound systems in SF. Massive shoutout to security who found my phone quickly andreturned it to me.
Was attempting to leave the venue and was physically thrown back in. I’ve never ever been assaulted by a bouncer ever, but what makes it more bizarre is he threw me back into the venue. I literally was trying to leave.
Great venue! Huge and lots of parking. I mean huge it’s big! Like 3 different stages the main floor being the biggest. Outdoor area and music. Seating from tables to couches. A small restaurant as well! Bars everywhere once you’re in. Vip section, Friendly service and music sounds awesome. Mixed crowd very diverse and good vibes here love it! Got that rave vibe from it. Definitely want to attend more events here they have all kinds of dope events from what I’ve gathered. So glad I found out about this place!
What is very strange about this place is when the white lights come on there’s so much smoke that you cannot see the band members. Yes there’s a lot of marijuana smoke but there’s a lot of regular cigarette smoke. They need to do something to the ventilation. All of our closets and my wife’s hair smell like a Las Vegas casino.
Dope Venue, one of the best in the bayarea. You must see your favorite artist here
Idk what I was expecting but it was ok.Pros: easy to get to via Muni Line to get in on new years was quick.Staff was all very friendly. Lots of bars spread out, which was nice. Only took a few minutes to get drinks. They also allow you to bring in hydration packs and had filling stations.Cons: Indoor areas were very crowded so we spent most of our time outside.Bathroom Lines inside were crazy long and didn’t move for 15+ minutes.Bar/Drink Prices were inconsistent , my husband and I purchased drinks 3 separate times and paid different prices depending on who ordered them.Filling /Water stations were hard to spot and unmarked.Overall not sure if I’d go back bc I’m old and hate crowds but considering the weather and that it was New Year’s Eve, I might have had a different experience.
I was at the indoor spot for John Digweed. They require proof of vaccination. They have 3 full bars and clean bathrooms. Decent sound system. Some people were smoking and vaping cannabis inside, no one cared. $6.00 for a can of Modelo. It wasn’t a very large place, but it seemed big enough for the gig. I’ll be coming back in November 2021 for the B2B with Cattaneo and Warren.
Awesome Venue! I’ve been to more shows here than I can count by now. As someone that only comes to the Bay Area to have a good time, The Midway never disappoints. They bring in top tier artists that make my trip all that more satisfying, we never have a problem finding parking, and most importantly there is always room to dance. I hope The Midway can continue this kind of passion for putting on great events for many years to come.Than you guys for all you do, I have never had a dull moment at The midway.Oh and awesome production team, specially for those block parties.
Great crowds and great music. One of my favorite spot to rave in the bay
Had a mild anxiety attack due to the heat & just needed to sit down, when i did so they escorted me out with my keys, friends, & everything else inside still so i am currently now just stuck outside until the show is over
Had a really good time at the venue. Went to the Loud Luxury concert on Friday. Bartenders were nice. The venue was large enough to fit a lot of people and had plenty of places to dance. The AC though was not turned on and it was hot as hell. The bottles of water werent even cold. You know its bad when the DJs are even making comments about how hot and sweaty the venue is. Overall a good experience just not a great experience when it came to comfort.
The best music venue I have been to in the city. The staff was incredibly friendly, even the bouncers were friendly, which is a rarity. The crowd is all positive and friendly vibes. Also, the energy of the crowd and performers was fun. Please note that you must bring cash if you plan on drinking, the bar is cash only. I also appreciate the water stations and that this venue doesnt charge for water. The show was fun, and I cannot wait to visit the venue again.
The venue is located in the industrial part of San Francisco. Parking is a challenge, if you plan to go for a music performance at night. Be cautious of the street signs, because there are places that have no parking and you could be subject to a tow.We went there for an electronic artist 🎧 named FatBoy slim, and he was great! The venue inside is clean, and has multiple rooms that featured two DJs playing simultaneously. The bathrooms are well-lit ad spacious. The crowd was happy and social. The speakers were loud, and the stage setup was very professional.Id recommend this venue for live music 🎶 performances.
I’ve seen two shows here and had an awesome time at both. Great venue with a fun vibe, nice patio for catching a mid-set break, and great artists. Only downside is the main stage has a lot of reverb which makes the sound muddy. Recommend sound treatment for the venue.
Afrojack started performing at 12:36am 3.5 hours after the event “started”. 11-11:30pm is standard.
Great experience seeing Kaskade and Louis the Child for NYE. Have seen Kaskade here multiple times. Mostly EDM at this venue as far as I know. Could use more seating beyond the food area but I get its a club at the end of the day. Multiple bathrooms is nice and its cool having multiple areas to see different artists. Theres usually like an up-and-coming artist playing near the back by a bar, cool area. Wouldve given 5 stars but our car got broken into while we were here. We parked very close to the Midway, but San Francisco apparently struck. not the midways fault really, but some kind of secure parking would be cool. not sure how they would do that, but its all part of the experience in going there. Gets cold outside in the winter so bring a jacket.
Pretty standard venue but nice. I wanted a paid parking lot having some valuables with me and didnt find one...no problems thankfully. Sound was great inside and lighting seemed professional. Easy in and out.. easy going in general. Id be happy to play there and enjoyed listening. 420 friendly too Id say and all the essentials at the bar.
Went to see Eli Brown on 10/24/23 with a VIP ticket. They oversold tickets. The venue was completely crowded without room to dance anywhere. The VIP area overlooks the performer from behind them. There isnt much room there either. The VIP ticket promised an exclusive bar area and bathrooms too, none of which were included.Next time I want to go to a techno party, and I see its at the Midway, Ill consider that a serious downside and might skip it.
Spacious party venue with multiple indoor/outdoor stages with a ravy warehouse vibe.
Great venue, clean, lots of bathrooms. It is your typical warehouse style concert venue. Bar is CASH ONLY. There are three bars that are adequately staffed. Mixed drinks are typically $10 each. There are like 12 ATM machines inside the place with a $3 fee. Outside the main hall there is a door to a cafe thats usually open and serves food. Inside the main hall theres plush seating for perhaps 15-20 people.
Best place to listen to luve dj sets in SF. Great space with multiple rooms and great bar service.
Love the midway. The patio shows in summer are fantastic. Day shows are great. The main room is always a good vibe. Sometimes have issues checking in with the QR codes through their website but it is usually quickly resolved at the door. Maybe something with the scanners? Security is present but dont seem to do pat downs. I believe metal wands are used as well. ID checks also for 21+ shows. Sound quality and stage production are very good for the size of the venue.
Big venue, super chill and friendly staff, easy parking, draws a good crowd. Only room for improvement is security check. They didnt do one, and no metal detector or anything.
I flew down from Washington State for Nora En Pure. The show was fantastic, I also very much enjoyed the venue. The negative, which explains the two star review. The website notes the venue is ADA accessible. there’s a ramp for a wheelchair access, however, that stops there. You need ADA seating, it is illegal not to have ADA seating.
Awesome venue, music sounded great and the staff were very friendly.
Place was awesome bathroom surprisingly clean and staff were great. Sound was phenomenal
Easily one of the worst venues Ive ever been to. They have a local dj play in a back room while the artists you are actually there to see plays on the main stage, so its packed in the area with the person you actually came to see. S***** acoustics, terrible layout, food isnt even mid. Kind of makes me feel bad for San Franciscans if they think that this is a decent venue.
You will like this place if you enjoy paying for a Lyft to take you to the outskirts of the city to a mediocre venue and then paying $30 cover which doesn’t Include any drinks to watch a crowd full of affected hipsters bop to unpleasant EDM and/or look at uninspired art which is made by other affected hipsters who think they are making powerful statements about landscapes and “the other” by daubing guache on canvas. These stuffed guns were cool though.
Oversold show was both a health and fire hazard. Too hot and packed to be able to get out of where you were to get water. It has to be around 95 degrees and 100% humidity. This is in December people. Could not even find a place to put my foot to move let alone dance. The fire code plate said 1300 max and there had to be 2000 people in there. Ventilate the space and don’t oversell the show.
Used to be a classic venue. Now, has lost its edge somewhat. The main drawback is the audio quality, it’s quite poor. This is a shame especially for EDM concerts.Times are wrong.Went to a concert advertised from 3 PM. The main Band wasn’t planned until 10, the opener 8.Once you are in, you cannot leave and reenter. This is a Corporate way to ensure sales. People were stuck spending their money on expensive drinks and food waiting for hours for the concert. Water is very expensive too. That’s not the San Francisco we love.If you are looking for a place that is authentic and current, there are younger, more underground and interesting places than this that will give you a better atmosphere for your $.
I went to see Theivery Corporation and couldn’t find the time the band started. The tickets said doors open at 3 and the band started at 3. I thought it was kind of strange they would start so early but hadn’t been to this venue before. They were not very helpful when entering. There was no schedule of when the bands were playing. We asked a bartender who suggested we ask the guy running the sound board. Really? Why is this a mystery? We finally asked someone that was sitting by one of the stage doors and she let us know they were not starting till 10 pm. That made sense but it was 7 hours away. We didn’t stay so forfeited the show. The Midway has indoor stages with some outdoor areas that are really nice. We had a drink $11 and left. You cannot return once you leave. Show times should be easily accessible. It was kind of ridiculous.
It’s a great place, their venues here are amazing. It has outdoor and indoor spaces.Drinks are insanely expensive.
I work here as a side job, which is a really enjoyable experience and relieves the stress of my actual job. Every person involved in the operations, artist booking, production, security, food, truly is invested in patrons having a memorable time, every time they visit. This is the best venue in SF, with an added bonus of fantastic sound in each room.
The way they over sell tickets at this place is putting people in serious danger of crowd crush. Pure chaos with no where to escape, sit down and enjoy some food for an all day/weekend event. Everyone sitting on top of each other on the pavement next to porta potties desperately trying to rest. These things are a marathon, not a spring but this venue doesnt set people up for success. Not enough food vendors, toilets or elbow room for the amount of people. Crazy to me that they would have someone as big as Odesza play here when they dont have the space for the crowd. Went back to our hotel to rest and hydrate so we could finish off the rest of the event strong and they nearly didnt let us back in because they are a single entry venue but made the acceptation because we looked sober enough compared to everyone else who had stayed the full 12 hours and looked like zombies by the end. Save your money because a money grab and a disaster waiting to happen is exactly what the event was that I experienced here.
Lots if room and open space! It was packed, so it was hot, but the ac was going good and a bunch of people thought ahead and brought hand fans which really helped the rest or us as well. 😆The staff are super friendly and approachable!Best venu in SF. 😉
The daytime outdoor experience is typically awesome: both the patio as well as larger events with street closures have delivered some amazing afternoons.I really wish the indoor sound was better at this venue. Despite what should be a great system: Funktion one, the acoustics in the space seem hollow and underwhelming.
Historically excellent. Hopefully 5 stars soon!
Oversold clozee on Saturday night and it was borderline dangerous. End of night coat check was a disorganized mess. Running the line down the same hallway as the bathroom entrances is quite possibly one of the most obviously worst logistics choices Ive ever seen in a venue. They seemed understaffed at this point so I dont really blame the employees so much as management. Clozee was amazing and probably needs a larger venue than this.
My favorite club in the city, a lot of great DJs come through with really unique curated experiences. Love the fact you can grab food in the back the heirloom tomato BLT is insanely delicious.
Been to multiple edm raves here, mostly events ranging from 9pm-2am. Never had any issues with the exception of the occasional partygoer that gets a bit too rowdy or messed up, but the medical/security team is always on top of things here. Parking is actually really good (considering its a music venue and the general location), although I may not be a good metric because Im the type of guy to show up 15-30 minutes early because I want to get my moneys worth. I have been able to snag the same spot about fifty feet outside the front door every time Ive gone. I should warn that the inside of the venue can get a little bit stuffy/hot depending on the size of the crowd, so Ive stopped bothering to bring in any outerwear whatsoever. Overall, this is probably my favorite lowkey rave spot in the Bay Area!
Went to see Alesso and venue is awesome! Will come back again
Outdoor spot for live music. I had a safeand pleasant experience.
Theyve stepped this place up throughout the years and its becoming a quintessential premier event space for EDM.There are many configurations for them to run to be able to host evening, day and art events. Im so appreciative of the growth and effort to organize the space and make it efficient from entering, getting concessions, having space, easy to maneuver and the restroom situation. The staff is friendly for the most part. Totally enjoyed Alesso & Dillon Francis this past weekend. Thanks Midway! Ill be back
Great space for dancing/ drinks and people watching
Drove to this venue from LA for this show... WORTH IT !got on stage... twice 🤩
Great venue. We were just there for a pre-burning man event. What an amazing set up. Easy to find, good bike parking and a really nice outdoor space and cafe.
Best outdoor music venue in SFStarting from lightening to sound system.Worth to spend new year eve.I would definitely recommend to my friends
Found this place during Covid and its become our go to place for EDM, not that thats all they offer. We once saw a Pink Floyd laser show here and we are going to the Roller Disco next Thursday (Aug 3).The staff are great people and run a great venue. Some of the ones Id love to shout out are T, Mikey, and Ian. And that guy with the good hair who runs sound or something at stage right. Thanks for all the good times! See you in a few weeks!
Nice venue, staff was very friendly and loved the water stations.
Fun venue. Lots of space to dance and couches inside to rest up in between sets. Coat check and port ale restrooms also available. Cant wait to come back!
Come here frequently to see my favorite music artists, I love the lay out! The music is always amazing! Such a vibe. Never too difficult to get a drink, you just have to know what you’re doing! 2000/10
Great venue. Love the layout. At times the music is in a redline n thats not so cool but many great acts in the main room.Patio events a great as well. Love the upstairs chill. One thing that could be better is letting us bring in unopened water..Parking situation could be better but its SF.Main room has three bars. And usually a line for the bathroom. Even for the guys.Midway, please expand the bathrooms. The Kascade was dope... But bathroom situation sucked.Overall, great place to party.
Two things I like about this venue. One, they seem to consistently feature great artists here. Two, the space is really interesting and there are lots of different rooms and experiences in one place, ranging from café restaurant to small outdoor dance space to interior art gallery to large dark DJ space with great projected visuals. The café actually has a really tasty vegetarian Reuben sandwich!
I wanted so badly to love and support this place. It has so much potential, but lacks the execution. My first bad experience was years ago to see gorgon city. The toilets overflowed. The next few times I decided to get VIP tix. What a joke. The lounge has the most uncomfortable seats. The sound system is horrible and it reeks of the food they are serving the VIP. Its like they used the cooking area for the VIP. The only good sound is close to the stage. I love having space to freely dance and depend on the space to have good sound towards the back. Its even worse if you pay for the sitting area. Im not sure how they keep getting these great artist, but 6 shows later Ive decided its not worth the money.
First time here. Was surprised only half of the building was rented for an event I was attending, but it was still big enough & spacious. Apparently the other side of this place is even bigger. Nice venue to hold events or live music. The plus side of this location is there is TONS of free parking 👌🏾.
If you are going for a techno event (inside venue) and have ears, don’t go to this club. Adam Beyer rarely comes to the Bay Area and I figured with a $50+ admission price that I would get a decent experience. The sound guys and promoters obviously don’t know what the hell they are doing. Tinnitus isn’t a joke and there is no cure for it. Do yourself a favor, save your hearing and don’t waste your time coming here. Whack vibes, overpriced and the worst sound system I’ve heard next to Public Works. I have been attending concerts and shows since I was 10, also professionally work media at dance festivals worldwide. Waste of my time, money and Uber. Thankfully I made it up by seeing him at Coachella a week later. Because there are actual professionals that know what they are doing there, NOT like at the Midway and their money grubbing promoters.Update 9/2023: months later after this event I have developed low frequency whistling in my ears when I lay down, all symptoms point to tinnitus. Thanks Midway 🗑️
Lost my jacket here. I believe there might have been a chance I left it at coat check.Emailed the email on their website…NO RESPONSE.Texted the number on their instagram…. NO RESPONSE.Would not come back again and especially not leave anything at coat check knowing that if you forget an item they are keeping it for themselves.
This place is really cool. They have a lot of bars, a restaurant that serves good food till early in the morning. Much better than a hot dog water vendor on the corner. The people who work there are quite friendly. Don’t take the reviews by 1 star andys seriously, the Midway really does a good job, thank you!
Very chill venue with friendly staff and the best live music. Some events feature a block party depending on the day. They also have a good food menu. Also very important bars are cash only. There is free water dispensers at the corners of the main bar (front and back directly facing stage). 420 friendly smoking area.
Went to The Midway for the first time Saturday night to see Sonny Fodera. I like the venue; there was plenty of space, the accoustics were very good and there were plenty of bars open to serve the patrons. But I do have a few issues with the the way the space is being managed. I showed up for what was billed as a 9:00 concert with what were identified as General Admission tickets. When I arrived at the venue, there was a small bar area open one side of the facility and, when I handed my ticket to the security guy at the door, he told me that they werent handling that yet and that he didnt know where or when they would be letting ticket holders into the event venue. It wasnt until after 9:20 that they were able to tell us where to enter for the event. When we entered, it was apparent that this would be standing only; there were only 3 padded booths in an out-of-the-way corner that they called a smokers section available for sitting. So we waited, standing, for the concert to start. It started to get warm so we went to find a coat check only to find that one would not be provided for this performance. The headline act didnt take the stage until after midnight and was still on stage at 1 pm when we left. Overall a positive experience. I just wish I would have been given a better understanding of what I was walking into, That the staff was more courteous and knowledgeable and that they would have provided a coat check, a necessity in a venue if this type in San Francisco where going sans jacket is ill advised due to the cold damp nights. My rating is 3 1/2 stars, rounded up above to 4.
False advertisement, supposedly was going to a summer walker concert only to have someone come out after 3 hours saying she wasn’t performing but was just going to take pictures. And then Midway deleted their post of the event. Scammed every one out some money.
This is by far my favorite venue in the city. I’ve been here over 5 times since august and have not had a bad experience yet. Security has always been super chill, unlike at other venues I’ve been to, production and sound is usually good as well and drink prices are pretty standard for San Francisco. I love that they host a lot of multiple stage events and even block parties. Can get a tad bit crowded at times but you can always stand in the back or off to the side and be fine or go to another room and see another dj if it’s a multiple stage event. The only downsides to this place is that you may have to wait a long time to get into the club depending on when you arrive, and also the bar + bathroom lines can get super long
The venue was large enough to hold two different events at once and the music wasnt heard from the patio; which I was curious about. I didnt order any beverages yet when I ordered a sprite, I wasnt charged and appreciate the hospitality. Parking wasnt too bad, just not right there at the venue...you just have to find a spot. I have another event coming up in November and look forward to it being here again.
Great nightlife experience.I love that they have two stages: one inside, one outside — super nice concept!Sound and lighting are cool as well.Overall the place feels great, and even the lines to women bathroom are not that bad 😄I was a little disappointed with the fact that 2 of 3 bars are cash only, and the 3d one closes earlier. On the other hand, they have an ATM machine. Just be aware. One more thing that is good to know — they don’t let in and outs 👌🏻Also a word about the location — the neighborhood is not very nice and friendly. I can’t say I felt 100% safe around there alone.Still worth 5 stars
This is definitely one of the best venues to go to in San Francisco with multiple stages even block party creations as well as VIP rooms that give free food. There is a rooftop viewing deck for the elite VIP which is hard to access however this place is still one of the greats. I saw Cascade here and had an amazing time. The vibe is great the fans are awesome
0/5 stars if I could. Spent $60+ on a ticket for a Summer Walker concert and she didn’t even perform or come on stage after 4 hours of waiting. Shameful and disrespectful to your fans…. The Midway needs to refund people asap.
Great place to have a venue 👍😎🎸🎼🎵🎶🎙
A very cool little venue. Fair prices on events and a pretty chill atmosphere, especially for some trance or dubstep. Will definitely be going back.
Overall a nice venue! Cool layout with 3 stages and plenty of bars to choose from. Has a cool outdoor area with food as well. Good location by the water with parking all around on the street. You should visit here!
I had a great time! Mirrors and good lighting in the VIP area so you can put yourself together after stomping it out on their enormous dance floor. First time in ages Ive been able to wear huge platforms and have plenty of open floor space to kick the beat. The drinks are nuclear level strong too! Friendly crowd! I cant wait to go back and do something wild.
Great venue with good memories but sound system sucks or maybe we are spoiled with class sound systems in other venues in the city.
Nice venue for a concert, plenty of bars and food available.
Great sound system, nice space, reasonable drink prices and free water, friendly staff. Everything you could want from a city music venue.
One of our favorite clubs in the city. Multiple rooms and enough bars so youre not waiting crazy long for drinks. Cash only though so bring it with you to avoid ATM fees. Always coming through with amazing artists and production.
🚨 PSA hot dog stand is a front for armed robbery Illinois & Cesar Chavez:Some guy followed me from the hotdog stand as I was trying to get to my parked car. I shook him. He likely had a weapon. Sped up when I sped up, turned when I stopped unexpectedly. Illinois & Cesar Chavez is where one of them will start tailing you. Stay vigilant or go with Uber / waymo. Don’t walk to your car after the show. Venue itself is awesome and outdoors / indoors space. Great sound system.
Fun venue, but needs fans or something. It was an absolute sauna inside when we went, super hot, and we had to leave the event early.
The thing about Midway is that, despite the fantastic Funktion Ones, the acoustics of the place are not good and about 95% of the dance floor does not sound good. After many years of mediocre experiences at Midway, we were determined on our way to Max Cooper. We spent our time roaming around to finally settle on a spot on the left side just a few feet away from the F1s. It was WAY TOO LOUD for the opener Machine Drums. Thankfully Max Cooper came on much softer and it sounded heavenly. He played *the* best set of my life and I could not stop dancing. I’m not sure I can go out to any other events anymore. Here I am, a week later, still in awe of what we got to experience. Now I feel lucky we have a venue like Midway in SF to book artists like this. Can we have Jon Hopkins next please?
