Went here to see a band from LA play. The venue is easy to find. (Its on the 2nd floor)Security checks your ID and tickets as being let in to the venue. They separate the venue if you arent allowed to drink you can still see the show which is great. The restaurant has very delicious food definitely worth a bite to eat if you are hungry. I dont drink but they do have a full bar and plenty of beers to choose from. The venue has great sound and plenty of room to dance around.Parking is around in the back and they had plenty available when I arrived. If I know someone playing here Ill come back.
Dancing Salsa and Batchata to live music is wonderful, and I am excited to come back! The DJs are also wonderful to dance to as well. It was a good reason to go out of town to Santa Barbara.
Great service. Food has improved since last visit in 2021. I got a filet medium just like I asked. The music is all over the map. Owners book a wide variety which is cool. We saw Skunk Baxter. The entire experience was much improved. We will return when the next show pops up that fits our taste. So glad yhey rode out the pandemic snd are still in business. My favorite live venue in Santa Barbara.
Amazing place for live music! They really know how to make the most out of a relatively small venue. The sound quality was exquisite! Beautifully equalized, all ranges were very clear. Cool video tech so you could still watch the stage from the bar in back and the outdoor seating. Great atmosphere. You can tell that they care about the experience if both the guests and the performers! Looking forward to the next time Im there!
Lots of great music live music. They only accept cash at the door for cover, they don’t advertise this. They also told me they were sold out and then when a group of 3 men walked up, they said they miscounted and had room. Limited seating in the back where you can’t see the main stage.
Its a small place for a small group of performers, but thats the worst I can say about it. there is a small stage at one end - maybe 10 to 15 - and great music whenever they choose to perform. The space is long and narrow - the back half is pretty quiet. the whole place is on the end floor...enjoy!
My friends and I were in town and dined at a nearby restaurant. We were told SOHO is the place to go for live music. Luckily, we didnt need to pay a cover since the manager at the other restaurant escorted us. Great!!!We got a drink and waited for the show to start. We ended up leaving after a few minutes. It was just too crowded. Looks like a great spot, just not for me.
Dilemma on how to rate, I could have given 1 to 5 stars. Excuse my long review to explain:If you order food, you get to sit near the stage and Id give it 5 stars, great venue, fabulous performers. We had already eaten, so youre sat in the bar area at the back. Either watch proceedings on a TV screen ?!, or we sat in the front bar seats, where new arrivals and members of bands not on stage like to congregate and chat. To improve: move the erratic cash machine out of the area and move the first bar area loudspeakers forwards one beam so front bar area seats can hear even when people are talking. Id go 3 star for bar area seating.A bigger concern came at the end of the evening. With 50 people in the bar, the outside lectern for taking money was moved inside and blocked one half of the main fire exit. A big no-no. I asked the bar tender to raise this to management, I trust this was inadvertent and will be addressed.Improvement suggestion: make clear on website that those dining get best seats. Then people can prebook, and the great bar will keep people happy and make more money.
What an amazing venue to watch some live music. Great setup and overall vibe. The staff was super cool and the talent they book is off the charts. Great sound and love the video monitors in the different sections of the bar.
Was there earlier for the music more than anything, a young girl kindly let us know that in order to have a seat we had to consume $15 minimum each, which was fine. I ordered a salad with salmon, although simple it was sooo good. I was enjoying my food and listening to the music, not even half way through my salad, when I was approached by a young guy, I didn’t hear what he may have said but as I turned to him he had already left with my plate. He then came back, with a box which for a moment I thought was my salad in a to-go box and it was not it was an empty box for my friend. Needless to say, it ruined my experience, I was too embarrassed to say anything but it felt like a waste of $26.
First and last time coming here. They charge you $25 to get in the door only to leave you among hundreds of sweaty people in a disgusting sauna. No AC, and the security tried to kick people out for opening doors or windows. Any women with an ounce of class - you’ve been warned.
Soho Santa Barbara is an awesome place! The staff is always courteous. In the age where customer service has been kicked to the curb, Soho is heads above everyone in customer service. They serve you with grace, and style. They listen, and accommodate...they go beyond. Its always a treat for all of your senses at Soho Restaurant & Music in Santa Barbara. My favorite waitperson is Charlotte. She is amazing and lovely.
From out of the area.Came to check out live music. Opening band was Awesome. Overall experience was excellent.Super chill vibe in bar. Some sofas and cozy chairs away from the stage. Would return to check out more local music talent.
Casual, fun place to see live music. Reasonably priced. However, beware someone putting something in your drink. My friend and I each had beer, two each over 2+ hours, so not a lot, and the next day we both had the worst hangover - like couldn’t get out of Bed did shots all night hungover - and memories were fuzzy. Thankfully we were together and got home safely. I heard another friend had a similar experience with 1 glass of wine, so proceed with caution.
Awesome venue, nice atmosphere, lots of space. Theres an outside patio area if it gets too hot inside. Ive been to two shows there, The Marias and The Buttertones, and theyve played great shows! Their openers were great too!
The sound here really depends on the music in my experience. Ive seen many shows at Soho and the acoustics vary dramatically from show to show. Food was just OK with some exceptions. Service and people are awesome! Great Atmosphere and the staff is well organized.
Watched an awesome Live Show Here The Other Night (Mexico City Blondes) and had an all around Great time. The energy of this place is awesome, and the bar is solid as well. Had a Moscow Mule and came away satisfied. Popular spot in a prime location on State street so its a perfect fit to include in your night life lineup!
Once again had a fantastic time at Soho. The food is outstanding. Everything was delicious. All the staff are so friendly and attentive. Service here is great and the music had everyone on the dance floor. Thank you Molly Ringwald Project. You sounded awesome!
Quite possibly the most poorly run bar/club in the western US. All the tables with a view of the stage are reserved for those with dinner reservations. Many remained unoccupied while all other seating was in rear with no view of the stage. We were there for a popular bluegrass band, and musical quality was good. Standing only due to the above. Only 2 bartenders meant150÷ people were always waiting for drinks, and table service was essentially non-existent.Mens room large, but only 2 units, so lines were common. In addition to being seemingly arrogant, unfriendly at best, these people really seem to have no clue about the business they are in. Management is obviously deficient, which is too bad, because the facility is lovely and located in a nice spot.
Only been here for a show, but I had a blast. Smoking area is nice, with a lovely view, and the sound system is way bigger than the small room that houses it. The lounge area is dope too.
I tested positive for COVID (despite being vaccinated and boosted) and even though I am feeling fine, I made the responsible decision to not attend a show at Soho I had purchased tickets to in advance.Unfortunately, their no refund policy encourages people who have tested positive to attend shows anyway, increasing the chance of spreading COVID, when cases are currently surging in Santa Barbara County with the highly contagious omicron variant.I understand that a no refund policy for event tickets may be standard in normal circumstances, but many, if not all, concert venues in town have adapted flexible and generous refund/exchange policies for obvious reasons in the current climate.
Great musical venue and the Santa Barbara City College Primetime band was stunning. It is an expensive venue to go to as you must pay $20 at the door plus order food which is on a limited menu. So expect to pay for your experience.
SOhO is a unique music venue, clearly run by people who love live music of all varieties. it also happens to be a place to get great food and drinks.if youre around on the right night, you never know what legendary music magic you might encounter...
SoHo has hosted some of my favorite artists that have ever come to town. A good blend of local musicians and big-fish names from out of town. A nice outdoor area and a more cramped interior as the place packs out. The acoustics in the building have never been really good so you might not be able to hear the lyrics to the songs clearly but overall its a pretty goof concert experience for what you pay. SoHo only accepts cash or pre-purchased tickets for concerts, just a heads up.
Local music scene that always has something interesting to offer, from local musicians to Major names, and did you know that they have really good food too? Great wines and all around awesome staff.
Soho, more like so-so. Food was ok, service was incredibly weird (didnt take my partners plates but took mine? Had to ask to be served even though it was a sit down restaurant? Drinks were never refilled, etc.) But food came out fast even though it was too salty and a little bit flavorless. Not sure I would come here again of my own accord. Bummer, had heard great things about it. The coconut cheesecake is bomb though, if youre there for any reason, order that and unlike everything else, you will not be disappointed.
We saw Gene Evaro Jr open for Moonchild tonight and when I tell you that they were BOTH amazing. I decided to buy my bf the tickets after learning he was a fan of Moonchild. Wed never been to Soho so we had no idea what to expect. We ordered a couple drinks and the vegetable pizza. Although we felt the menu\drinks were expensive..the over all vibe of this place made everything worth it.We had an amazing time and want to go back
Spencer saved my life. I drive 2+ hours to see Elovaters & DENM tonight. One problem... it was yesterday. I felt like an idiot. Spencer swooped in. Let me in. Bought the first round. Told me life is good and everything was gonna be alright. Bro, thank you. Youve blessed me
Its a really cool vibe but drinks were really pricey 12 bucks for an adios is usual but for a tall glass not the short one. and felt like not enough ventilation went threw besides being in the crowd feeling something would of been pleasnt lol
Took 30 min to get fries... garlic and rosemary.. was absolutely disgusting. Sent them back for normal plain fries.. Took another 30 min. Smh smh bar tenders all sitting around looking at stuffing their phones.. while one busts his ass. Took forever to get a drink. I only ordered twice bc why would I go back and wait so long for someone to pop open a beer for me. I can go home and do that myself
Food was great. Staff, very friendly. The venue was a great place to hear live music.
Fun way to spend an evening. Great staff, awesome live music by Mendeleyev the night we went. Good food and I really enjoyed the lavander mule and rosemary fries.
This place is a fabulous institution! Stellar sound, diverse music acts , charming outdoor smoking area and extra friendly staff 🤗 highly recommended!
I havent been in SOHO in almost 25 years and it is better than I remember. Always great music and the food is fantastic.
I met my musical hero, Eric Hutchinson, and found and really connected with Anya Marina. I had a wonderful meal and an even better night. Thank you Soho for hosting a dream come true!
Saw a great spoken word performance in the lovely little theatre area. The restaurant is really iffy. The food isnt very good although the wait staff are very nice. Pricey for what you get.
My girlfriend and I are first time visitors of Santa Barbara. Several people recommend that we check out SOhO since we both enjoy live music. Upon arriving around 10pm we encountered a line. After waiting 15 minutes in line we were told it was sold out and they moved on to the next people in line. I asked him why there was not a sign posted or why he didnt let people know so they didnt waste their time waiting. He said, I cannot spend time every 5 minutes yelling at the line saying it is sold out. I presold 280 and just sold 20 tickets. 300 thats it. Go wait over there to see if there are any no shows. There were two couples behind us that didnt realize it was sold out either. After being treated like cattle with no respect of our time, we will never return to SOhO.
Hidden inside the complex (2nd floor) is a wonderful live band and cute bar establishment. Sexy place to take your date or just hang out.
Most events get crowded, bar is always well staffed to serve. Great music venue because there is room to dance.
I love this place, I met the owner of the Restaurant, (women owned) and she was so nice. I loved the food and the service too, Amazing entertainment too..I saw Medicine for the People that blew my socks off and I loved what kind of people this place attracts..It was an amazing time, it felt like family...I highly recommend this place...
We went to see Daring Greatly last week and it was a perfect place for a nice intimate concert. The food was awesome and the service was great...we absolutely loved it.!
Had a good night listening to live music, food was good and staff friendly, only giving 4 stars as not many customers so it lacked atmosphere for a live music venue, they need to do more marketing to get people in!
Checks all the boxes: A really fun clean venue that sounds good and has attentive friendly staff in the heart of downtown
The food was so good, the music superceded our expectations, the staff was friendly and lots of booze!
Amazing!!! Two parties at one and such a great bartenders, always on top of the game! Best salsa night in months for me!! Thank you!
Such a fun place to watch some great live local bands play. Food is good and drinks are strong!
Went to an open jazz night there. Had a relaxed vibe and was evident that there are alot of regulars there. Food was ok and service was slow however. Great cocktails.
We went here for Motown Monday. Lots of fun and free to enter. Thanks Soho! 🤗 Drink selection has enough variety for all.

Love this venue! You can really get up close and personal. Its awesome.
Ordered my tickets a month in advance. Still got back seats. Plus they make you by 30 bucks worth of food. Stupid place. Dont go here. Not worth it.
