Terrible pub, not a place for food at all. The google maps has it listed that this place has dining, and food in the about section, where one would share the ups and downs of a biz. Very drunk people trying to fight with others is ignored by the bartenders, and someone almost stole my purse while I was away from my full drink at the bar. Dont go here, theres no sensible reason anyone should.NOTICE how there is a which dishes do you recommend? on this forum, notice also how it says the place serves dishes of food. Seems like they want business but are willing to lie, cheat and steal to get it. Do not go here!It is also ILLEGAL to have HAPPY HOUR DRINKS in NC, but they have that posted as well. WHAT A BUNCH OF LIARS!

The standard from which all pubs should follow. Great atmosphere, fun clientele, outstanding food (sadly, not anymore), stellar beer and spirits selection, and an incredibly friendly staff. We love everyone there. Highly recommend this place!UPDATE: In regard to certain reviews stating they are not a veteran friendly establishment. That is complete and utter garbage. Im an Army veteran and have always been, and felt very welcome there. One of the bartenders husbands is a veteran of the USMC and currently works for the Army. I have met many veterans from the Army, Marines, Navy, and even the AF, who frequent and absolutely love The Pub. I do as well and will continue to support them. AATW!

Cool place with a proper selection of beers. None of that IPA Sour Fruity stuff. This place has lagers, browns, reds, and stouts that leaves you feeling happy 😁

The staff is always great. We go every Tuesday for Bingo. Once in a blue moon, you get an annoying patron, but overall it a great little pub.Update: While we will definitely continue our bingo night and we absolutely love the bar and staff, there is one patron that has been coming that we will be calling ahead to check if she is there. Her constant yelling and extremely loud whistling have made our last few visits uncomfortable and painful even on the ears.

One of the best pints of Guinness and Smithwicks I’ve had on this side of the Atlantic. Me and a group of others worked near Southport for over a month and any given afternoon you could find most of us at the pub. The price, atmosphere, and service kept us all sane. Shoutout to Jessica, Alyssa, Riley and the rest of their staff made us feel at home as soon as we showed up. Can’t wait for an excuse to come back to Southport so I can hit the pub again!

Awesome bar, mostly awesome staff, food was alright but nothing special, selection of whiskey is really good they just need glencairns. (Its a glass to drink whiskey with, not an alcohol.)

Very cool spot in Southport, a true pub with a great selection of whiskey (try the Leadslingers, a veteran made whiskey) and good food to boot. Attentive bartenders and fun events definitely make it a bar to frequent. There’s also plenty of parking and seating. Support local businesses!

Walked over from the Westgate hotel on New Years Eve to check it out. I wasnt planning to stay long but the crowd was friendly, the service was great and had a great selection of beers. The next time I find myself in Southport, this will be my go to place.

Not all that great of a time. Being open late is about all this place has to offer.Good luck getting a cab though. None of the places I called said they pick people up from this bar. Makes sense they have their own shuttle. The guy who drives it is pretty suspect though.

The Pub of Southport is one of the most genuine and homy bars Ive ever had the privilege to patronize. Locals of all walks of life intermingle in a peaceful and jovial way without incident. The knowledgeable staff are friendly and remember most everyones name that walks through the door more than once. Im lucky enough to be a regular here and have attended one of the tasting events they hold on occasion. Pat knows his stuff and has passed his knowledge onto the amazing bartenders. The live music is diverse and fun. Overall, its a safe space for locals and out of towners alike. Ive read the one star reviews and find them to be either highly subjective or just plain ignorant.P.S, If youre lucky enough to be there on a night the food truck is operating, get the burger and the eggrolls. Also, one more amazing feature is the Paddy Wagon that is there to get you safely home after youve inevitably had too much fun!

This place is absolutely amazing. The bartender was extremely attentive and made sure we were comfortable and will served throughout the course of our night. I highly recommend this bar to everyone. If you want to true Irish experience please ask for an Irish breakfast. You wont be disappointed. Also make sure to check out the merch shop. Their merch is on point.

I have been here for 2 years, and I must say this is not the place to come if you are new in town. I saw the owners wife hit him in the face with a beer bottle once and break the glass all over the place. There was an incident with a firearm that I cant describe furtheras thr owner keeps flagging my review.The bartender was thrown through a window one night. Just stay away.Response... I witnessed 2 of the 3 events mentioned.

A nice pub with friendly staff and cheap drinks. There is no kitchen though, they no longer offer food.

Pretty busy on a Saturday night, but we arrived as a group of 15. The bartenders served us quickly and some of us ordered food. The food was hot and delicious. This is a nice little hometown bar. The service is friendly and they have a variety of domestic, imported and craft beers and several good wines. Its cozy, clean and friendly.

ORIGINAL: Found this place a couple years ago and loved it. Constant drink specials, $3 Guinness, amazing fried pickles that made a meal for two hungry people. We made sure to try to make it a tradition. Fast forward to this year: Food no longer served, private membership required, price increases, and the tap for the beer on special that day was conveniently broken. Choices were Bud or Bud light. Dont know what happened in the past couple years, but we were very sad to see current changes and will not be returning.UPDATED FOR OWNER RESPONSE: Immediately calling your patrons liars and trolls when they have a bad experience does not retain or generate new clientele. Things happen, but meeting criticism with immediate dismissal and hostility makes me glad our business goes elsewhere.1. Tristans review including the photo of the bar from September of 2019 shows the $3 Guinness draft advertisement you claim to have never had.2. Since your site still shows food menu offerings, I would suggest updating it.3. Its still a private membership.4. Offering another option for the price of the beer that was on special that day I think would be reasonable. Unfortunately this was not the case.5. We came for the $4 Guinness on tap. Everything else was full price, and mass-produced beer, or bottled. So our two choices were to stay or go. We left.Please treat your future customers with respect.

Hopefully I will have the opportunity actually what appears from the exterior to be a great place to hang out.NO FOOD!When we tried to visit The Pub Of Southport for late night dinner, Sunday May 29, 2022, we were told by another patron who was entering it that it only served alcoholic beverages and no food at the present time however it would start serving food in a couple weeks or is a members only establishment that caters only to certain types of people with respect to food and beverages.-Alfred Harrell More than a Poet

We have been down here a few times now and this place is always gross. We mostly stay at the hotel because it seems cool there is a bar in walking distance but its just not.Too loud. Food truck is over priced. Staff and patrons are creepy.

Locals are friendly and the owner was nice. Do yourself a favor and order the Reuben egg rolls! They are delicious. Also, give Shiner Bock a try. Its a smooth beer. Yes, they were open for New Years. Yes, they had a live band. A champagne toast was served at midnight. Would drink here again.

Jess was very friendly and attentive. Although they no longer serve food, she recommended we use DoorDash and we had our late lunch/dinner delivered – she even provided utensils when DoorDash failed to do so. We’ll be back thanks to her hospitality.

We were declined service due to my disabled veteran boyfriend’s service dog, which is ILLEGAL. This place shows no respect to our veterans and disregards the rights of service dogs. What a shame. Also, they don’t even have a kitchen anymore, so don’t waste your time if you want food.EDIT: We in no way berated your staff. A disabled veteran, who came straight from the hospital (with his service dog mind you- the hospital had zero problems with it), looking only for a bite to eat, was greeted with hostility (due to service dog) by your barkeep. You know this veteran and he had been a patron to your establishment for years. How on earth do you treat someone this way? So glad you don’t even have a kitchen anymore. Made it all the easier to leave.

They have really pared back their menu, but there is still some good options on it. The kitchen is hit or miss. Some days the french fries are scalding hot, some days they are not hot. The corned beef egg rolls are awesome. The buffalo shrimp is better than average. Definitely a regular go to spot.

The staff and atmosphere here were excellent. Variety of alcohol & drinks - made well, I might add. Locals were friendly when we asked to join / play.They have cornhole & darts. Live music on Friday night too.Heads up: they do ID & require a phone # to check in. Its has to do with them being a membership bar.Also: dudes - must have sleeves. No cut off shirts. Dress code 🤷🏻‍♀️

Very fun atmosphere. Great drinks. No food but fun place to hang. They often have a food truck. Open late. A real plus around here.

I had met a few people after a day on Baldhead island.We had never visited the pub,We were greeted by a cheerful and friendly patron.We ordered and sat down with our drinks.A few minutes later.the bartender came over with a Tshirt n asked if it were ok with me put put on the Tshirt.Please understand, that there policy with tank tops for men is not allowed.Though women can .I dont get.Ill definitely go back.Cool place and friendly staff .But be aware of the no tank top rule.

Great go to place that is open til 2 am! Definitely a nicer setting than many of the beach bars. Will definitely be back.

December 8th bartender is a douche bag! I called him out on his double charging and got kicked out. Pay in cash and dont open a tab.

I have been here countless times. The beer is cold, the service is great, the food is excellent, and the atmosphere is great. Indoor and outdoor seating. Clean restrooms (for a pub). Cornhole games outside. Excellent draft and bottled beer selection. Mini cigar bar. Darts. Ole trusty!!

Well Ive been coming here probably for the past 5 years. My wife and I have really enjoyed this place until today (6-25-2018 @ around 12:30pm). First off as soon as we stepped in the Pub with our son. A really strong fish odor was all through the place👎. We still stayed because weve liked it so much in the past. Until the straw that broke the 🐫s back. Was when the waiter/server came to the table and asked me if I had another shirt to wear. I had sleeveless shirt on and they didnt except that any longer. Then my wife looks up and the bar tender has on a sleeveless shirt so go figure that one! Well they have just LOST our business from now own! Thanks a lot the Spencer Family! 👍

The whole menu is awesome! Have not had a less than wonderful meal there ever! Tuesday tacos are worth the trip. Great selection of beers, including pub standards. Bartenders and wait staff are always friendly and attentive.

I love the atmosphere, the food and the selection of whiskey but the noise level often makes me have one and leave. The acoustics are hard to handle and if they have music going I can’t even try to go in. I can only enjoy this place when they are dead slow. It’s a shame because there are so few places that cater to those that want to hear themselves think or have a conversation

We had a blast at The Pub! We ordered the Irish Mac and Cheese and Steak and Guinness Pie and both were to die for! The environment was so fun with games outside and a friendly group inside. We felt like two locals going to our favorite spot. 10/10 recommend!

People like to pull guns out here.Response to owner~Seeing some of your other responses and all the negative customer reviews I see lately I am not surprised that is the response I got. Looks like 6 days ago you made someone else mad then the same day eight 5 star reviews. Thats not suspicious at all.This incident happened around the end of May if anyone wants to look it up. My brother and I were there. Came back recently and saw the people involved still hanging out there. So we will not be back.Since Slainte closed 2 years ago and this place opened its gone completely down hill in all regards.Oh and they didnt stop surviving food from staffing issues because of Covid19. The place next door made their food and when the contract for that was up the place next door just didnt want to deal with them anymore. Thats how bad they are.

Staying at the hotel across the parking lot for work and decided to try this after a really long drive from Philadelphia. Really quick service and very comfortable place for a single diner. Got the fish and chips and a blue moon. Food and drink came fast and the waiter was on top of it. Loved it and might try again this week.

Great food and atmosphere. Waiters and bar tenders are always friendly and attractive. Music is pay to play specific tracks. Sports and news on the television. Prices are fair. Youll need to have a membership but the membership is free.

Nice outside area, friendly bartender (remembered our drink order our next visit). Dont be put off by the Irish Pub concept they have all the normal bar food and more. Nice selection of draft (including craft) and bottled beer.

Honestly, I dont have much of an opinion on this place.I had to pick up one of my friends from here. And Ill probably get a drink from this place if I lived in Southport.Was a little disappointed that it had outdoor seating but it doesnt allow dogs.

The Team here is wonderful and the Paddy Wagon for a ride home if you need it is excellent service. The people are friendly and always a great time to be had.

Wide variety of drinks and surprisingly great food, all at a reasonable price. The employees were very friendly and welcoming, I truly enjoyed my visit and will surely be a returning customer. Highly recommend!

It ain’t a beachfront bar, or a dock side grill but hell who cares when you have good vibes, great bartenders and good drinks? Great spot, highly recommend on a busy night

A proper pub in a (once hidden) gem of a southern North Cackalacky town. They even offer a Paddy Wagon from Wednesday to Saturday if youve had a couple, which you absolutely should.

This was the best food I have ever eaten from a bar. The young lady was fantastic today. She made great suggestion for my first visit. I visit this area often. I will spread the word. Great wings . cooked to perfection!

Changing my review from 5 stars to 1.In the months my husband and I have been going in there we witnessed a number of fights. Some shady parking lot gatherings, someone even pulled a gun out one night.No food now. Drinks are getting more expensive.Stay away.

Wife and I met an old friend that lives in the area here, their recommendation. Pleasantly surprised as the food and service were excellent and we really liked the dark pub vibe! Recommend the Fish and Chips and the Reuben Egg Rolls - excellent!

The pub of Southport, in Southport North Carolina is a pub in which is a bar and its super friendly staff great atmosphere bands play on the weekend check for timing and who no food just like that fun food spirits so go have yourself a good time and enjoy the atmosphere or either sat outside and enjoy the weather 🦋

Beautiful pub. Miss the food though. The interior is reminiscent of some of the pubs and bars up north with the dark woods and huge fireplace. The service is great, friendly, fast and tell Rick what kind of drink you like and leave it to him to make you one even better! Id say hands down its the best watering hole in Brunswick County and is located right next to the Wingate so that makes life easier.

This place was in walking distance of the hotel and thats the only good thing. Service is bad. Drinks are weak. The parking lot is scary after around 10pm.

Waiter was nice. The food was typical bar food nothing special. My red wine blend was fine but they didn’t have too many beers on tap. They did the best they could for how small Southport town is.

Everyone from my high school works here but still a fun bar, St. Patricks day was quite a show. If you go, YOU HAVE TO GET THE PRETZELS!!!!! THEY ARE THE BEST IVE EVER HAD!!! I usually dont get bar food, but those pretzels and the stone ground mustard and cheese sauce are pretty irresistible.

Great local, but very authentic Irish Pub, serving the Southport/Oak Island area. Nice vibe, decent service, great decor and patio, with corn hole boards... One of only a few late night establishments in the area. A definite stop for drinks. Slainte

I met 6 friends there, and we sat outside, near the parking lot. I got there late, wearing a tasteful, blue, sleeveless shirt and shorts. Some flunkie manager told me that I needed a shirt with sleeves. I went back to my car and put on a windbreaker. I was totally uncomfortable. In the meantime, a filthy dirty hillbilly smoker was about 25 feet away, his acrid smoke contaminating our dinner. No thanks, not coming back.

Great selection of Irish themed dishes and an eclectic selection of dishes. Very nice selection of beers and a well stocked bar, in addition to the usual Irish whiskey Jamesons you will find other selections especially noted Paddys the whiskey of choice in the film Waking Ned Devine.

This is one of the places that you have to pay a dollar for membership. Not sure I like that but the staff was friendly. Had a fair selection of beer and food. We heard they share the kitchen with the pizza place next door. Seems like a local hang out.

This is not a restaurant and it hasnt been a restaurant in years. Its false advertising that its a restaurant on this forum.Was enjoying a few laughs and drinks on a afternoon off when in came a bald headed man who yelled at my girlfriends for LAUGHING too loud! Been to alot of irish pubs, this one ranks up there with the best. The reuben egg rolls were the bomb. Atmosphere was wonderful the waitress was very knowledgable with the drinks and food. Would definatly suggest my friends to patronize this pub!

Not the friendliest pub Ive ever been in and the service was just ok. We had to go inside to be served, then come back outside to our table. Could be short on staff dont know. We will try again at a different time maybe it will be better.

Not much going on for a weekend night. The girl behind the bar couldnt even come to the table to take our order. Three other people in the place but made me come to the bar and place our order but had her hand out for a tip because she handed me a couple of beers.

I am avoiding anywhere that has a No Mask, No Service, No Exceptions policy.They dont have to enforce masks on customers.I have a medical exemption and they turned me away. Said they would get a fine if I were seen in there without a mask. Which is a flat out lie.

Members only, so we didnt go in. After a response from the Owner, found out that we could sign up. Were here on vacation but will definitely stop by in September when were next here. Was staying at the hotel next door and looking for some place to get a bite to eat. Got there at 10 p.m. cuase absolutly nothing else was open. Before we could even get on the sidewalk, some guy in normal clothes without any uniform, name tag, or the normal shirt with the eatablishments name on it asked us for ids. The last time we got to talk to any employee. The outside bar had a few people and were extremely loud, we sat inside at one of the few tables. There was one bar tender with a 75% full bar. We waited for about 10-12 min and not a single person came to even greet us or take a drink order. Stood at the bar and was competely ignored. So we left. We will never return. Ive been a bar manager in charlotte for 15 years and have never seen employees completely ignore guests like that.

I didnt stay for long, but the aesthetic was amazing and the people seemed like the crowd youd wanna enjoy a drink around. Its not in the middle of nowhere and feels safe.

Unfriendly, the waitress was dressed poorly with sparkly green shamrock pastie look on her tank top , and the onion rings were not even warm , nothing is worse than cold fried . food .. because of her being unfriendly, i chose to now reorder.

No food except crackers and you buy them.Listen , if you like any of the hard to find local brewery stuff you will be happy...or you will eat down the street.

Middle of summer in a beach town and they have a rule where MEN have to wear sleeves(not tank tops in 90* weather). Patrons agreed after talking to multiple this is an insane rule to turn away patrons or forcing them to buy one of their provided shirts.

The bartenders are great and the food is very good. We enjoy goingdown there in our golf cart

Not a fan of this place. 6 of us walked in. We were thirsty and hungry. We had to leave because we were wearing sleeveless shirts. Lost out on a sizable tab.

Service was very good, food not so much, got the corned beef and cabbage. Beef was ok, somewhat dry. Could barely eat the cabbage and I love cabbage.

Every thing you would expect from an Irish pub. Friendly staff. Came here for Guinness and Jameson. Great live music. Wil return.

The better bar in town thats open till 2 am. Good clean bar with good food. Kind of out of the way but necessary for the hours
