I always have the best time here- the music, fashion, and people are great through and through. If I want to have a surefire fun night out- this is my spot! The bar near the dance floor tends to get really busy, but I never have issues getting a drink in a timely manner. They add automatic gratuity here and the bartenders deserve it- theyre always hustling.
Came here on my birthday with my sister. While checking my ID, several security staff repeatedly asked me if I had drugs and kept laughing, even though my sister and I were both sober and well-dressed having come from the ballet. I was so shocked I didn’t reply, and they proceeded to point to the envelope with my Kennedy Center tickets and ask “do you have drugs for us? Is there drug money in there?” and laughed some more.I’m not sure if we were racially profiled because we’re visibility Latina, or we entered in the middle of some kind of inside joke, but it left me rattled. They did let us in shortly after and I was able to have a fun night at Aloho next door. The bartenders were friendly so giving an extra star for the drinks, but I plan to avoid Pitchers in the future.
Pitchers is where magic happens. It is the kind of place that offers something for every day of the week. Wether you are feeling like having a drink on a random Tuesday or like stealing the show at its great Latin Party, you know there is always something going on there. However you feel that day, I am sure you’ll be happy with what Pitchers has for you.The staff is great. They welcome you with a smile and with the best attitude possible. The owner is also very sweet, he literally greets every single person at the bar. Makes you feel super welcomed.Pitchers has a great atmosphere and you can tell people love this place. I mean, who wouln’t?Thank you to the team for making this a great place. Some of my best memories in DC are at this place💙
Literally came here 1 time and I was done! Came on a Friday night with my bestfriend (female and male) and were both gay who like checking out gay bars in the city. The bottom bar was busy so we went upstairs, when I went to the upstairs bar I was looked at and purposely ignored. I waited so long for two Heinekens! it’s predominantly white men there, not very diverse (at least that night). After finally getting my drink we left. The service was lousy and I didn’t feel comfortable here, and the music was bland! Definitely go somewhere else if you want a more diverse environment and better music.
I had a very bad experience here at 5pm. I came into the bar sober and didn’t see the security guard - he was standing in the middle of the room and not at the door. I started walking upstairs and he immediately told me to leave the bar and get on the sidewalk. I went outside and came in a couple minutes later and explained that I was sober and hadn’t seen him, and apologized. He said he was trained and could see in my eyes that I had taken something, and to leave immediately. He wouldn’t engage in a conversation and was extremely rude. The place is extremely unwelcoming.
So I went here last night and bought 2 drinks and signed the receipt at 20 dollars and some change. My cash app just notified me of an additional 4 dollar charge as an update to my previous charge initially signed for. This is not ok... thanks for the lesson and enjoy the tip!
I wish I could give 0 stars. I came for my 21st birthday, it was my first “gay” experience, and they were very, very rude. Everyone was screaming and they kicked my out for being too loud. I thought this place would be accepting to peoples with disabilities, but they were very rude and uncommodating. I have ASD and a few other issues, and. I would not recommend this place to anyone who needs accommodation(s) of any kind
This bar decided to reject my girlfriend because she was blacker than their standards. She was 100% sober yet he stated she was wobbling. Very unfortunate to see when this establishment is already struggling for business. Unfortunately she was racially profiled and Im sure she wasnt the first and wont be the last. After reading the other reviews this place has done it before and is going down hill. I highly advise to spend your money elsewhere.
The absolute rudest staff I have ever experienced. My boyfriend was profiled for having a small bag while plenty of patrons walked in with much larger fuller bags, and when we expressed our concerns after already having been there for over 2 hours to the new security guard and the staff member who refused to listen to our concerns, they threatened to kick us out?! Absolutely the most inconsiderate establishment we have ever experienced. As queers in a queer place, we should feel safe, and they made us feel very much the opposite. Do not go to this place. Beware of these people. Watch out for these people.
If I could zero star I would. The bouncer was incredibly rude, had no respect for patrons. Don’t recommend.
The newcomer to DC’s gay bar scene, Pitchers has a little something for everyone. Friendly staff, a full menu, great layout, outdoor space, vintage video games, and wide selection of mixed drinks makes Pitchers the perfect spot for a casual weeknight cocktail or night out with your friends. Make sure you explore the entire complex, because every room offers something different.
MY SON, DREAM HAD HIS FIRST DRAG SHOT SHOW A FEW MONTHS BACK., WHICH HE DID AN AMAZING JOB! THE STAFF WAS EVERYTHING AND MORE. THEY WELCOMED ME WITH OPEN ARMS AS I WAS THERE TO SUPPORT MY SON FIRST DRAG SHOW. LOOK OUT FOR MY SON, DREAM. HES MY DREAM COME TRUE AND I HOPE YOU GUYS GET TO WITNESS YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE TOO🥰💞😘💕❤️
At 1:55am on 6/10 security that was working the door accused my friend of being too drunk to get in. i was with my friend all day at pride he had not been drinking. they let a group of us in that were more drunk than he was and security kept persisting that he was drunk even though he wasnt. my friend has a disability and when i confronted security about it, he straight up barred me from entry as well. just goes to show the downhill of this place, hiring such unqualified persons to work the door. dude was totally ableist toward my friend and descriminatory toward me for sticking up for my friend. not a very inclusive spot. very much on par with nellies and the controversy theyve brought toward dc nightlife.
Was verbally assaulted by one of the bartenders after being knocked into by another employee which caused me to spill my drink- leading me to purchase another bev on my own account. the bartender took the drink he had poured for me and dumped it out after he learned i wasnt going to tip on a drink i had purchaed after a staff member had spilled my previous one- and on an unpaid interns salary ($0 in case it wasnt clear) I am a gender non conforming individual in a city where not every bar / club would be as accepting of LGBTQIA+ individuals as one would want them to be. I am so disappointed in pitchers and their employee who would think its okay to berate a young queer person just trying to release the stress of a week-long unpaid internship. so disappointed- thought i had found a safe space in pitchers- clearly i was wrong. do not attend unless you are okay with being treated with no basic decency.
I got a mojito but the bartender just gave me a canned one😅😅 and it s $14 like what
I hate to poorly rate a queer space, however I think transparency is important. I would give fewer stars but the space itself is very nice. The bar tenders are not friendly and would not provide a receipt for my bill and they assuredly charged more than what was ordered on my bill. I unfortunately met the owner as well who was very unpleasant and unwelcoming- not quite sure what the issue was with him. I was not too surprised when I came to review this place and the ratings were already so poor.
Pitchers is truly one of my favorite bars in DC, and its exactly what the citys LGBTQ+ scene has been missing. The spot has three segments: the top floor is your traditional dance floor and bar, with all the energy, activity, rambunctiousness, and alcohol that youre looking for to fuel you through a long night. Their taste in music is...solid, but not quite what I was expecting? Even so, that might have just been the case for the night that my friend and I decided to stop by. We still had a really great time on the dance floor regardless. The middle floor is a restaurant-ish type area, with more seating, food, drinks, and light music. I spent most of my time, however, in the basement. Pitchers lowest floor is home to a wonderful speakeasy called A League of Her Own that has just the most incredible of vibes. The bartenders are remarkably sweet, the drinks are solid, and theres just enough music to keep up the ambiance while not overpowering conversation. There are several little TV stations, some of which were showing movies (I believe they were watching Captain America: Civil War the last time I was here?), and others of which had video games. They had various Mario games, old and new, on various consoles. Pitchers is a great place to visit regardless of the vibes that youre looking for!
Definitely not a gay sports bar! Came in on a Sunday afternoon to watch football, every TV had cabaret on it, bartender turned the game on with cabaret music blaring on the other TVs. Drinks were definitely overpriced as well, 11 bucks for a screwdriver at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon? No wonder there was only a handful of people in the place!
The person checking the IDs was weird about it. We didnt see her and I guess that offended her? She purposefully waited for the line if ten people after us to bother to check our ID before us I . It felt discriminatory because I dont know what I did wrong, so we ended up leaving. =\
Hands down, one of the best bars in DC. Drinks are strong and the bartenders are super nice. The entire building is well kept even on its busiest nights, everyone inside was kind and welcoming. I felt safe and had a great time from the moment I first stepped into the door to the moment I left. Highly recommended.
The place is great - the owner is on a power trip and enjoys ~trying~ to kick people out. He yelled at my friends and I who were seated at a table for not wearing masks while we were actively eating and then came back to harass us. Met multiple people who warned me about this person. Overall decent bar but the owner is a terrible person. Would recommend if owners change - otherwise don’t give your business here.
This is the second time that I have felt discouraged by the establishment to enter the facility. I arrived at 1:10AM to enter and was denied entry by the person with long, dirty blonde hair, on grounds that “they are in the process of closing, as a policy”, despite the fact that they advertise, both on Google AND their door, that they are open until 2AM. I could EASILY step in to Death Punch next door and be served, probably ten minutes within their closing.
I’ve been here a few times and I really want to like it given it’s one of the few queer bars in the area. However, every time I go the staff seems extremely hostile and rude. For example, my first time there I ordered a $7 drink and gave the bartender a $10 bill. Instead of giving me my change so I could tip, they took the entire bill and automatically put the extra money into the tip jar which I considered rude. Also, the staff has little patience and will yell at you if you break their unwritten rules (like standing in the stairwell by the bathroom). Last time I was there, I was kissing my friend on the dancefloor and one of the bartenders sprayed us with water repeatedly. Not sure if it was a joke, but given the vibe of the place I found it very off-putting. As a queer person, I don’t feel very safe here and I’m not sure if I’ll be back during my time in DC. :(
Very nice bar and restaurant.large beer selection. Excellent cocktails. Friendly. and engaging staff. Salads looked great but I opted for the burger. It was fantastic! Perfectly flame charbroiled patties on a tasty bun piled high with fresh lettuce tomato and onion.Looking forward to going back.
Genuinely one of my favorite places to go in DC. Strong drinks and wonderful atmosphere, whether you want to just chill and have a casual drink with friends or go dance in a club-like atmosphere. Bartenders and staff are always nice and respectful. Ive made countless friends from coming here!
The bartenders were so rude here . Definitely the worst experience ever. I was having a great time , and had the worst luck with one of the bartenders. I will not be returning. Work on you all customer service please
Fun place. Generally a fun vibe. Too many straight women, though. It’s a gay bar being inundated by straight girls looking for gay tourism and to “feel safe” but get loud and obnoxious and pushy and overly confident. Pitchers needs to be more aware.
I have been going to A League of her own for quite some time. My overall experience has been and still is pretty great. Food , drinks and music.Downside of my experience is lately the last couple of times I have been to Pitchers the bartender has not been friendly at all. Every time I speak or buy a drink from this particular bartender she has the worst attitude. So doesn’t smile , or speak unless it’s regarding the bill. Her attitude needs an a update immediately .She seems like the head bartender. I don’t want to say any names but I feel under appreciated and not welcome in this establishment. I have been investing my money in so many LGBT bars my whole life and I love it.Kindness goes a long way and so should customer service. I would hate to leave a place that has brought me so much peace and laughter! Thanks
*I am editing the text of my original review after my communication with the owner of Pitchers.I wanted to write regarding a very negative and hostile experience I had while trying to visit Pitchers on Friday 3/12/2021. We wanted to have a drink at a league of her own and saw a sign to check in at pitchers. As we proceeded to walk into pitchers a very hostile and aggressive man who works here walked up behind and screamed at us asking what we think we are doing. He loudly yelled at us in our face we are not sitting anyone for the rest of the night, last call is in four minutes! I cant imagine what we did that sparked his rage and hostility. All we wanted was a drink and would have gladly left and come back another night if he explained in a professional way they werent taking any more customers. Are all employees at pitchers allowed to act aggressive and scream at customers for absolutely no reason? We were not problematic, we hadnt even said a word to anyone. There is no good reason that potential customers should be treated like we were treated. There was another guy (the host) that was much more professional than the first guy who screamed at us. He explained in a better way why they were no longer seating people. Had this been told to us by him at first, I wouldve never given this place a low rating.I appreciate the owner responding to me and attempting to rectify the situation. I will update my review if I ever decide to come back here.
Love this spot so much it’s hard to know where to start. Haven’t tried the food but have seen plenty of other people happily eating. Love Thirst Trap Thursdays, the drag show, where the spacious dance floor becomes a runway. Make sure to check out their social media for any upcoming events; FB: “Pitchers DC”, IG: “PitchersDC”.There are so many levels to this place that when thinking about it I honestly have to mentally walk around each floor/section. It’s not too big where it’s confusing but just big enough that there’s always variety and another opportunity to mix it up in a different area. There are video games in League Of Her Own, the connected lesbian bar, and in a few other spots around pitchers. Drinks are reasonably priced given the fact that it is in a busier area of DC.The reality is though I could think of a few other bars that cater to the same clientele with similar qualities but the biggest attraction here is the attitude of the bars patrons and employees. When you first walk in it’s obvious how great of a time everyone’s having (whether they are chilling or dancing away) because of peoples smiles and warm personalities. If you’ve checked out other LGBTQ bars you’ve probably stumbled upon one of those bars that feels like model homeland and anyone who doesn’t look a certain way doesn’t feel accepted. In addition, the homeland for some reason only hires and trains their bartenders to have an attitude and to look you up and down after taking your order as if to judge whether your worth their time. I only bring up bars like that because it’s the complete opposite here, to the point that I’ve caught myself wanting to tip plenty of pitchers bartenders the price of the drink (essentially doubling my out of pocket expense) because of their sweet smile and welcoming demeanor. Plus I don’t know who’s hiring the staff but great job to the HR department for scoring some veryyyy attractive ladies and gentlemen to run the door, manage the bars, and do all the other jobs.Bottom line, I know plenty of us grew up wishing/hoping/praying for a space where we could feel accepted while just being ourselves and the reality is that this is that place. Whether your just visiting DC for a hot second, a DMV resident looking for a fun time, or someone who’s not sure if the bar scene if for them, I challenge you to check out this spot because I couldn’t imagine a single person being disappointed. Simply put it’s a lovable DC destination for all.
Went to Pitchers this evening with my parents who are visiting from out of town and 3 friends for just a few drinks to celebrate my birthday. The upper floor was packed way beyond capacity, and yes my parents are older (but cool) so we opted to stay down stairs. The bouncer said we could not stand at the bar and needed to go upstairs- the (very wide) aisle needed to remain open for food servers. There was no way we were going up there so we grabbed a table (there are very few to begin with and even fewer were occupied), had a few drinks and appetizers and a decent time. No big deal at all, grabbing the table was a great option. However, as we got up to put on our coats, briefly say our goodbyes and leave, we were immediately confronted by another employee aggressively telling us to go upstairs (seriously dont understand how they could admit that many people up there per fire code). I explained we are literally trying to leave. You cannot leave without standing up for at least a brief moment to prepare yourself to go out into the winter cold. I had to repeat myself multiple times before he backed off and moved on to harass other patrons who were doing the same thing.Seriously, I get it but the level of aggression over this precious (very wide) aisle was a bit over the top.
Shocked by the low rating, this bar is chill, fun and friendly. Thank you to gay bars that have stayed open during the pandemic and are trying to keep people safe while also giving us a place to socialize. Cant wait to go back here!
Elvin did a really good job and making sure everyone was comfortable and taken care of. we felt very safe and appreciate.
Security was incredibly rude. Do not go to this place. Not worth giving them any of your money.
This is not a safe place for gay women, or anyone for that matter. I am disappointed and hurt by the sexist — yes, sexist against women, although they proudly tout their lesbian bar — and rude staff/bouncers that work here and will certainly never return.
Its a nice space, but a wasted opportunity when the drink options are so few and far between. Wine in a can, seriously? Barely any liquor variety and zero cocktail options. There is an opening for an LGBT venue in this city that elevates the standard of drink-offerings. A shame that the owners have gone the dive-bar route, as if we needed another!
The bartenders and most of staff were amazing, and that is what gives the place a 2. Their owner was so rude and racist that came to me and my friends to tell us to stop dancing just because we played latin music but he did not say anything to other people dancing.
We used to come here often because of the lack of queer oriented spaces in DC and we used to enjoy this establishment. The last several times that we have been here, the service has been terrible, the wait staff have been very rude, and it’s overall a very disappointing environment. Yesterday, I kissed my girlfriend while at a table and a member of the wait staff came over and yelled at us for her standing up while on the upper outside patio. I’ve never had this experience in a non-queer oriented space, much less a “safe space”, and I will not be back.
People have been robbed and roofied here and the establishment cares little about resolving that. Expensive too.
This is my favorite place to go every Saturday with my wife. Good energy good vibes great people. I found this place when I first moved to dc and fell in love with everyone there. Truly a dc gem for the lgbt community!!
Excellent space and great place to mix and mingle. Grabbing drinks is easy. They have a $10 min for credit cards. Luckily I brought cash for my $7 Dc Brau Corruption can. If you need to use the bathroom, the first floor toilets hardly had anyone in them as they are two floors down from the main party area. The bar reminds me of another gay sports bar without all the straight bachelorettes and less dancing. There was not a good dance scene here Saturday night, but that could have been just a fluke.
I’m a POC queer person and I was discriminated against at the door. The woman checking IDs refused to check mine, and said that all the white ppl behind me were there first… not a great experience
Unfortunately our last experience was a very bad one... We were 6 people in total but didn’t arrive at the same time (me and 2 other friends arrived first), everything up to us sitting was fine... one of my friends comes up to get our other 3 friends, then out of the blue I just see a man comes down yelling at her, being hostile, and just pretty rude with his manners... I don’t know if he’s the manager, owner or what, but anyway he just treated us poorly and badly, it seems there was a misunderstanding of where my other friends wanted to sit but that’s no the way to try figure things out... I don’t know if he has anger issues or just having a bad day and took it out on us. I will for sure never go back there and run the chance of seeing him again.
I like their chicken tender, other than that the place itself is ok but …. Some employees are rude or just don’t care 🤷♂️,I was once chased on street and grabbed by security bcz I was drinking water from cup , apparently in DC you can’t walk and have a cup in your hand and drink , I told them it was water but they said they don’t trust me , so frk them !
The place is great. It has many floors and each floor with a different ambiance, however, the drinks are terrible. Canned wine? No! The rosé in a can had an aftertaste, just like any cheap wine in a can. They did not have red wine!
Had a blast. This place has so many floors with different music and DJ. The drinks are strong and not expensive. If you’re in DC, this place is a must go whether you’re gay or straight.
Newer gay bar in Adams Morgan. After several bars closed - this is the new place to be. There are four levels and each has a different vibe. They have outdoor space, serve food and even offer video games to play.
Two good acquaintances of mine (Lez Link Events and MIM Entertainment), sent out invites to patronize this establishment. It is very well put together, professional staff and great atmosphere. However, the reason I am giving it a 1 star rating is because the owner carries a racist energy, that would cause me NEVER to spend my HARD EARNED BLACK DOLLAR, ever again; not even if he apologized. Regardless if the rainbow flag symbolizes love and diversity among LBGTQ, as a BLACK WOMAN, that served, and continues to stand up for not only the LBGTQ, but the Black Community as well, it is up hauling to me that we continue to give our CAUCASIAN counterparts, who continue to disrespect us, at every turn, every fabric of our being to make them great. In closing, the only sprinkle of color I saw in League Of Her Own, was a picture of Wanda Sykes. Well I my guess is that she is up there because of her WHITE WIFE? #NEGROSWAKEUP #SUPPORTBLACKLBGTQ #NEVERAGAIN
Fantastic fried food. Sounds like an oxymoron, but the chicken tenders are actually better chicken than you get at most places on a chicken sandwich. This place has a great ambiance, staff, and beer selection.
I love Bobby as a bartender!!!Always takes the best care of me and everyone is always so friendly. Can never stop coming here!! My go to place every weekend 🤍🤍
They have no decent bag check yet require you to leave bags in a random rack from Walmart. This is lame in a city where everyone does happy hour after work and need to carry their work equipment.
Consistently good gay content, although Ive noticed a degradation in the quality of dj-ing on the dance floor as of late
I stood in line for over an hour before we walked up to the doorman who let three groups of yelling dochebags before us. When we were inside they were rude to us as if we didn’t wait an hour before getting in.
Stopped in to order a burger, some chicken tenders, and fries for some friends and I drinking at the bar next door. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly, and they even brought our food to the neighboring bar.
VENUS VALHALLA is WILD. Her drag show is everything. And nothing makes me happy like a night of NEXT LEVEL drag and a crazy good time after. She is such a refreshing free spirit and the 2nd floor bartender, Bobby, is also the best decision Pitchers has ever made. Like wow, omg. “Wow omg” are the only words I have to accurately describe my time here.
Yes, its a gay bar, but not in the gaybourhood at all, good luck with your parking on 18th St/Adams Morgan, yet the selection of the drinks are few, food tastes like the reheated frozen.
Kimar is a blessing to my life, and I love him very much. He always brings great conversation, and mixes them good drinks!
Lovely staff. Fun atmosphere. Reasonable drink prices. I loved the outdoor patio area! Great spot.
Dude with the dreads working security called my girlfriend fat and laughed about it to our faces. What kind of establishment is this!!!!!?????This place = no bueno
Thanks to Shawn for a great experience, her attention to details, great customer service, mixology skills, wonderful personality and great smile made Sunday a true Funday.. we will be back
Super rude employees. The have a lot of really young costumers and they treat them like garbage. I look really young but I’m 30 and I’m a lawyer. The guy asking for IDs at the front door, was super disrespectful .
Worst experience ever. Discriminatory, especially to black women. I will never give my money to this establishment.
I dont know what youre paying this DJ but she is incredible. Give that woman what she wants, shes packing the floor. Unreal.
Great addition to 18th Street in AdMo! Surprisingly, (its a bar!) the Caesar salad with grilled chicken was amazing! Ill be back!
Closes access to restroom at 11pm which feels like it should be illegal. Especially if you claim yourself to be a sports bar.
Always a good time! Thanks David for creating such a great space for us!We love Bobby!
Great place to go to watch baseball playoffs in the fall when everyone else might be showing football.
Manager is extremely rude and unwelcoming. Clearly money is the top priority and customers do not matter. Never coming back.
Siah, Miguel, and Arianna are the best!!! Amazing atmosphere even better service
Venus Valhalla is THE host and Thirst Trap Thursdays is THE drag show. Skinny LEGEND the talent JUMPED out.
Nice bar. Highly recommend Jason as a bartender stunningly gorgeous and the sweetest human youve ever met.
This place is trash. The owner is racist and they discriminate against minorities and immigrants.
I mean, it’s one thing to be closed when your website says you’re open, but it’s another thing to sneer and grouse at me and my partner for even looking slightly confused about that?
Martin is so sweet. He made sure we had a 5- Star experience! 💯
Supported by immature and obnoxiuos clientele. Please handle your insecurities. Youre making the community, and this bar, look bad.
Did not let me pee with my friends, honestly disrespectful
The music leaves a lot to be desired. Not the best for dancing.
This place is fantastic and a fun time good atmosphere good service lots of different rooms with different vibes.
I cannot recommend this mediocre establishment. Poor service. Try somewhere else. If you don’t take my advice you will regret it.
Great bar. The patio and roof top areas are great for the summer.
Nice to have another gay bar in town. Hate that you have to check any bags. That’s annoying.
They had a fun beach ball and slashed it with a knife while we were having fun 😕
The largest lesbian bar in dc 🥰I LOVE IT PLUS GREAT FOOD
Staff was very rude. Wouldn’t recommend
Great bar, fun atmosphere and friendly staff!
Great staff, great spot, close to everything, perfect for bar crawling.
TJ IS AN AMAZING BARTENDER!!!Very attentive and amazing vibes
Terrible staff, manager was extremely rude and refused to let my group in even thought we waited for over an hour.
Great new bar in AdMo. Definitely something that was needed for the area.
Its not a sports bar. You can get Bloody Marys from a can. Ill pass.
Safe space. Thanks, Pitchers and Admo community.
Incredibly rude and unkind bartenders
The food the atmosphere the staff is incredible here
Hot guys and good drinks what more could you want...
Very empty boring bar dont waste your time
Awful service. Bartenders refuse to give you receipts
Has outdoor, indoor spaces; great vibes
A nice low key place with wonderful staff.
Lots of spaces and some fun games.
Great space, especially the outdoor decks
This establishment discriminates against those with service animals.
They have cell phone chargers
😓
Should be reported for discriminating handicapped people...
Nothing special here an overpriced
So lovely and the staff are awesome
Lit.
Delicious buffalo wings
Amazing
Good atmosphere
Fun place!!
Blah stuck up
