The drink prices were different the three nights I was there. The regulars werent really friendly, which really didnt bother me, but...I was the lone ranger. The interior was nice. Just wanted a couple drinks to relax after a home going experience. Will go back but will stay downstairs. It was OK

I stopped by in the early afternoon. It was quiet but was like my neighborhood bar at home. Also my age group around 2pm

This place is so welcoming and friendly! I love The Fireplace! I stopped in here because it was raining and had the best time. Looking for a laid-back Cheers type bar? This is it! Bill the bartender is super cool and there are lots of regulars who are so nice and willing to help a visitor find some cool stuff to do! Although it takes a minute for the bartender to take your order. The bar is pretty good. Drinks will definitely get you lit. The people varies from different ages. Definitely an urban bar which I like. But I don’t like how they close at 2:30 am on Weekends. Kinda early, but other than that i have been going back ever since.

A great homecoming! First time in six years when I was a 5 times a week regular. Recognized by two, fooled three. The drinks are still spectacular...I doubt if anyone serves better. The crowd was 1/10th of what it was--COVID related Im sure.I had a good time and returned the next day--July 4th. I told a friend Ill be back this Sunday. In the days of old, Sundays were the absolute, extreme best.

Strong cheap drinks. Music is in serious need of assistance. Playing random music from your the device of someone 60+ years old for a majority 20-40 year old crowd probably isnt the best idea. At least it doesnt smell like pee when you first walk in anymore.

My first impression was good. The bar tender came up to me right away. The diverse crowd was cool, etc. 5 stars, then went downhill fast. I never was able to get a second drink. The bartender was distracted the rest of the time because the cops came in. Made me (and perhaps others) very uncomfortable. When they announced last call I asked for another drink and was told no the bartender was busy. They kicked everyone out by 130am. The closing time was supposed to be 2am. Zero stars, so shall go halfway at 3 stars and i fell that is generous considering my experience. My first (and likely last) time here.

Im visiting from Texas please explain to me why would I pay $20 for two drinks for a drinks upstairs then go down stairs and pay more yes they were same top shelf drinks as upstairs the white guy downstairs gave us a different price than upstairs please explain june1 2023 happy pride

Place is ok. Expensive drinks. And prices differ between bar tenders. It a locals place. Not impressed. And I like dive bars. Not this one.

The bar offered a staff of gregarious and friendly individuals who catered to my friend and I in a very satiable way. We were visiting from out of town but the staff made us feel right at home! This is exactly how human experiences should feel. Id highly recommend this place to everyone I know!

Scott was a horrible bartender! Me and a group of friends came on Friday night. We did not know that they only took cash. So, Scott made our drinks while one friends went to go get cash from the atm which was inside the building and Scott decided to throw our drinks in the trash! So when my friend came back with the cash which was about only five - ten minutes because it was a line he expected for us to pay for the drinks he put in the trash plus the ones he was going to make.

This is the only gay, black bar Ive ever been to. Im not saying that to make a statement or piss anyone off but if you are a gay black man, this is basically paradise. The rooms up and downstairs are a little full of vape smoke, the music is loud, up best and fits the crowd and in every way this is one of the most welcoming places I have been to in a long time. The patrons are friendly, hanging out and having a fantastic time, the drinks are low cost and strong as any drink Ive ever had. The odds of the bartender calling you girl is 100% and it is a hoot of a time. This is a bar built by a community of awesome folks.

I would never go back to this establishment. The place is run down and dirty. The bar is terrible. The drinks are mediocre and the bar itself feels unsanitary. Not to mention they do not accept credit cards and will not tell you until after you ordered your drink. Plus, the bartenders are not so friendly. I observed a bartender constantly making shady comments about other customers after they left to people sitting at the bar. Overall, this place is run down and not worth the time or hassle. Go elsewhere in D.C, there are plenty of places better than Fireplace.

Dive bar with great beer prices. I think happy hour features $3 beers with any other time at $4. Its cash only, however there is an receipt machine that takes card and prints out a piece of paper that can be redeemed for cash.

If youre looking for a friendly neighborhood bar, this is the place to go. Scotty, the bartender was great both times we were there. We also went on a Saturday night and it has a crowd. The upstairs gets very busy apparently at night time. Highly suggested very friendly and fun.

So i am so called fan of the fire place....it is usually the best place to be on a weekend night but on this particular night The place was dead.. i mean jus dead way under crowded for the normal weekend real sad to 👀 use to seeing tht at this amazing 👏🏾 establishment...but none tha less it is the best lgbtq bar in D.C....ND THTS ON PERIOD

Youre basic run of the mill, neighborhood dive bar.Drinks are strong. Staff is surly. Clientele ranges from hipsters, to creative types, to office drones to absurd.After recent visit, its clear, staff hasnt change nor has the decor or clientele of the bar. LOL

Horrible aroma however, the drinks are extremely cheap and does the job when you are trying to pregame. It gets extremely packed on the second level, everyone always seems to be having a good time by dancing and socializing with one another. The music typically sucks, but after all it is a bar not a club.

Neighborhood Lgbtq bar with inexpensive extra strong drinks..it doesnt have a regular ATM that YOU maybe unaccustomed so bring cash if youre unsure.

I think most of the reviews summed this place up pretty accurately. Inexpensive drinks, with horrible music. I dont think I have heard so many dance mixes in my life and to top it off, no one was actually dancing. Go figure!

Not your place if you dont like to be around older men. Ive known a lot of the regulars for years so Im comfortable there but its definitely an older man crowd before 8. After 8 the crowd changes...

The Firplace - Three drink maximum has been in effect as many years that I know no other place to order a best bar drink outside during a bar crawl. Stay cozy and affluent - star approved.

Nice drinks for a excellent price they need a Crédit card machines so they people can stop going to the atm but the fee is super cheap they so you can beat it.also they need to open the up stairs windows so they fresh air can flow in thats why I stay downstairs most of the time

If you are into older men, bad smell, cash only (but have a credit card machine to use as an ATM) this is the place to go. If not, stay away. The crowd is a bit intimidating a few drunk guys talking nonsense and constantly trying to make a conversation.On the plus side drinks are “heavy” and cheap. Also the bartender are very friendly.

Ive only been once but it was pretty cool. It does get extremely crowded but the drinks are good, cheap, and STRONG! Ill definitely be going back to pregame !

Strong moderately priced drinks on top shelf liquor! Its the old regular bar, that has that same old smell, filled with alot of those same ol people lol! However; underneath it all this is apart of DC gay subculture. Being at fireplace is the one place everyone is equal. You do not frequent this bar to feel grande. And those that do dont frequent.

A friend and I stumbled upon this place on the 4th of July. Had no idea it was a gay bar, drank our beers quickly and left. Nice folks, but you gotta take debit cards, its 2018.

The Fireplace is dark, gloomy and completely uninviting. I give it two stars only because the bartender was friendly. It is a shame to see what this place has become.

Classless, dirty, a bartender took my water from me. Thats the one thing you can enter a restaurant or bar with. He actually didnt ask but just reached into my personal space and took it from my hands. This is why there are frequent fights and police incidents. It poorly manage crowd control and public image.

Cocktails are very delicious and strong. Margaritas was the bomb dot com. Yasss Gawdddd

Fireplace is an iconic gay bar where a majority of patrons are black. The decor is rustic but you definitely get your moneys worth in good pours.

Nice Meet and Greet. Very attractive African American Men. Wish they had a Dance floor.

The bartenders are very fast and Sufficient, and the guest are always laughing and cracking jokes, this is the Conner bar everyone needs to experience!

Mostly black people. Nevertheless it is open till 3 am. It is good for people who want to drink a beer very late.
