The service was good overall, though as the night gets busier, you may need to flag down a server. The place could use better air conditioning as it gets extremely hot inside. The food was average; I sampled the jollof rice. The drinks were good, though a bit pricey. Its very crowded but has a great atmosphere, with a nice hookah lounge and excellent music, including hip hop, Afro beats, and reggae. Overall, its a good spot to enjoy a night out.
One of my favorites hookah spots in the DMV! It has a chill vibe, they play good music (sometimes too loud though) and the hookah flavors are pretty delicious! Came here randomly Saturday night and was disappointed they didn’t have the White Grape with Mint flavor (it used to be my favorite here!) but we got the Watermelon instead and it was good.
Amazing service from ilker! He made sure my friends and I were well taken off, everything we ordered came out on time, and overall very friendly. Had an amazing time, 11/10. If you come to Gazuza - ask for ilker!
Nice atmosphere; however, servers did not seem friendly at all. Definitely could use training on body language and smiling even if they are having a bad day. Very expensive compared to other spots nearby.
Hookah and sushi? An interesting combo, right? If you like both, you’ve met your match. If you only like either sushi or hookah, it’s a great happy hour spot. Gazuza Lounge is located only a few minutes away from the Dupont Circle red line metro stop and offers some great happy hour specials. Monday through Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. you can get some cheap beer, wine, mixed drinks, and of course, the highlights - $5 classic rolls, $8 specialty rolls, and $18 Hookah. The sushi is not going to be the best you’ve ever had, but for $5 per classic roll, it’s very hard to beat. Gazuza Lounge is located on the second floor and definitely has a relaxing, chill lounge vibe. Usually, it’s not very crowded for happy hour, so you can enjoy your conversation with your friends, or just relax and eat as much sushi as you can. The people I came with who like hookah, said they offer a wide selection of good flavors. They have a bunch of TVs running sports matches, if you’re in the mood for that. Staff members are attentive, friendly, and polite – they’ll even remind you when happy hour is nearing its end.
Gazuza has the kindest servers and great music! Ilker is extremely friendly and attentive! Can’t wait to go back :)
This is one terrible experience I’ve ever had to deal with on my birthday at that, and to top it off she over charged me and family two drinks one hookah and added her own tip I guess for being black … and then had the audacity to ask us to hold our iD and credit card until we left And we paid her in cash this lady was so racist made me and my family so uncomfortable on top of that she sat us in the corner with electric wires hanging over top of us she charged us $120.00 for this. White double chin fat neck lady. Horrible worst birthday ever. AND THE ENTIRE TIME STOOD IN THAT ONE SPOT AND EYEBALLED US THE WHOLE TIME.
We were deciding on a place to chill on a Sunday night (long weekend) but we came across this place. Its a perfect place for some decent sushi, hookah, drinks and some dancing and yes its true. Its amazing, we asked on put on the NBA playoffs game and they gladly did. They have two spaces, one on the outside and one inside with a dance floor. The food is pretty good, hookah is good, drinks were good. There was a salsa dancing event thingy going on as well. The servers are good and accommodating.
Overpriced and service is extremely lacking. This was a great spot pre covid but it’s gone downhill now. Don’t buy any “house” liquors. Will have your head all messed up.
I’ve been going I Gazuza for years, 5 years or so. I don’t know what happened but the service has seriously gone downhill. I walked in, today to be exact, the manager was on his phone, in the corner, and the one server they had working seemed to be on her phone at the bar. Waited a few minutes for anyone to come over and take an order. I wasn’t too upset about that, but from there it went to hell. I ordered a Stella and a hookah, to start, and when I asked for a glass for the beer the server looked as if I was asking her to blow the glass herself. I order some sushi, no complaints there, aside from the time it took to come out. Final complaint was about the service, or lack there of. Never had someone come over and ask if I needed another drink or charcoal. Server didn’t “serve” at all. Pretty piss poor experience, which is sad, considering I’m a regular. I bid you farewell Gazuza, I won’t be back.
Nice vibes, Gazuza roll is the best roll I have ever had.I read the reviews before coming here and decided to check it out for myself! Not sure why people said what they said but I didn’t see non of that, great hookah too!Definitely worth it!My friend liked it very much!
ILKER is the best always takes care of me any my girl when we come!
Gazuza’s Service is trash!!! The server took our hookah order and didn’t come back for another 40 minutes. We never received the hookah. We also ordered sushi. The sushi order sat in the window for a long time before the server acknowledged it and brought it over. There was a lot of time that went by as we watched the servers chill and smoke hookah at the bar. They didn’t walk around to ask tables if they needed anything. They basically did not attend to the tables at all. Will not be returning! They had the cook who made the sushi making hookah too while the bartenders did nothing! The chef/ hookah guy needs a raise!!
The customer service is above the rest. You will get what you ask for in a timely manner, no matter how busy it is. The drinks are superb and the folks that serve here wants you to have a great time. I go to alot of lounges but Gazuza stands out. I have never made a review of a restaurant, hotel, or lounge before but I want to celebrate Gazuza for its excellent service!
Terrible place, terrible ambiance, terrible service. They dont seat parties of 2 on the patio, the place isnt worth your time. Believe me.I understand that the establishment has replied to my response. I would like to clarify that I did reserve a table, however, since our party size decreased from 4 people to 2 persons, (myself and my husband), they refused to seat us unless we spent $300. The place has poor ventilation and is like smoke chamber, pretty uncomfortable and lackluster. The person who attended to us wasnt kind or considerate. Too bad she didnt know that I am a Google reviewer.
Ilker was amazing!!!! So kind and hospitable! He had excellent recommendations!
Server ILKER provided amazing service. Thank you for a great experience 👍🏽
Never purchase drinks from here!! youve been warned. I asked for a Titos with a splash of cranberry, no ice... No Ice because this place is notorious for watering down drinks. The waitress brought me back a SHOT of titos with cranberry juice and charged me $14.. I will never order a drink here again. Though the service from the servers were great, Ill refrain from ordering drinks. I did send an email to the owner but asked for NOTHING in exchange. I was giving feedback from an angry customer. More so furious because we chose to have a birthday here a few weeks back and no one wanted a drink after the first round because EVERYONE noticed that their drinks was watered down! How did I get the managers email? I checked the recent reviews to see if their were any similar complaints or if it was just me... You can see and judge for yourself!
This place is fun and lowkey. The DJ the night I went was amazing!! Definitely had the ladies up and dancing
So it was a cool experiment. I went for a gf’s bday and it was nice. I feel like they don’t use new hookah tubes, the one we received appeared to be chewed on which is concerning with the herpes thing going around on the hookah scene ( provide new tubes in plastic, opened at the table, and don’t be cheap, WE KNOW)…..So mwe loved our server, she was refreshing and attentive. I felt responsible to make sure she was cool because while we were in the cool patio/window area, it was noticeably hot near the bar bathroom area. I really wanted her to sit down to cool off but she refused (simcha (her name) or something like that), I hope management address ALL of this this, I went at night, it was HOT. Lastly guys why is there only one bathroom stall working (women’s) unacceptable !
Absolutely love this place. Food and drinks are spot on. I’ve been coming here everyday almost to watch the NBA playoffs as they have numerous big screens along with great music. Yulia is always amazing!
So my friends and I attended their brunch on memorial wknd. I have a couple of things that’s I’d like to point out.1) I’ll start off by saying that although there wasn’t really anyone there, the dj was good2)the food that we prepaid for was below subpar. The eggs were cold. The chicken had zero seasoning…..not even a tea spoon of salt. The only thing that was good was the burger sliders3) and the worst part…..the bottle of water (deer park ) was $8….yes you read it right. $8!!!!!!!!!! Never in my entire life (not even at festival , airport or concert) have a I paid that much for a bottle of water smh. My friends and I were very disappointed4) the young lady that was serving us was very nice
Food and Drink is nice! We tried couple of drinks from the menu but the hookah is not what I usually smoke. Flavors are not accurate, a shisha smoker would know what I mean. Server was friendly!
Been coming to this place for years now and it never disappoints. Very nice and professional staff. The decoration and the vibe is just what you need to relax and be surrounded by beautiful people. And oh, if you love sushi, definitely grab some while enjoying your hookah, you will come back for it lol.
Wonderful and beautiful establishment in a well keep location. My service was top notch and staff was every friendly. One of the best hookah spots I’ve been I look forward to my next visit😊
Very laid back.Pizza 🍕 🍕 order is actually 2 slices and cheese. Since we had already had dinner, that was enough 😋.Hookah of choice was blueberry& mint. The section behind the glass doors is on my radar for a kickback with friends in the future
JD is the best! Even though we were not her table she saw me looking around at the bar for assistance and she made a u turn (bc she was serving other guests) but she wanted to make sure I was good and accommodated us immediately. This was my first time here and she left a great impression and representation of Qazuza. Thank You!
It was a great experience, the servers were amazing and the drinks I ordered were exactly how I like them. I can’t wait to come back and try new items on the menu. 10/10
The service from the very beginning was horrible. We stayed out of convenience. The drinks were poorly made, the sushi we ordered sat in the pick up window for long over 20 min only for the server to tell us our food has just been sitting there. We received not one apology from our rude “servers” and no accommodation at all. Would not recommend this place at all.
Was surprised how much space there was! Friendly staff and I like the fact they have a lot of choices where you can sit. Nice vibes and chill spot. I enjoyed the music too.
I was torn between between this rating and 3 stars. I only come to this place because it isnt that far from my house. The music is good, they have a good sushi and always have a great crowd, but the service is not good at all. Every time my buddy and I come. It never fails. They just have rude and disconnected servers who seem to never come to your table. You always have to go fetch their attention, which is absolutely ridiculous. If you go, I recommend sitting at the bar so youll get direct service from the bartenders instead of those small tables with the VERY low to the ground seats.
Slow service, DARK. Like literally too dark for comfort. The picture lady was nice but aggressively trying to sell her photos. The drinks were mediocre, also the menu is crazy to think that sushi goes with hookah. There was no other food options except sushi.
I love this place great music, great food and the staff is so welcoming. I love the sushi here I went on a Tuesday night and the DJ they had was great. Will definitely be visiting again
I compare Gazuza to the hookah spots on 9th and U because it usually has a dj and attracts a black 25-40 y/o crowd. Unlike most of the U st hookah lounges, Gazuza is not black owned. When the place is empty, the service is fine, when it gets busy, the service sucks and suddenly they make up arbitrary rules to take advantage of their urban customers. Recently, I arrived and stood near the front for seating for awhile. I asked a waitress where we could sit. She told me anywhere that was open. We found an open table. But, after being ignored for 30 min, I was told by a different waitress that I was sitting in her vip section and had to get up or spend $500 minimum at a table that had no reserved sign and could barely fit two people. I asked to speak to a manager and he was just as rude and dismissive. We left and won’t return. Note: even though 99% of its clientele is black, I’ve never seen a black employee here. There are lesser known hookah spots besides this and u street that are cleaner, more attentive, and have better hookah without the unexpected arbitrary extranets and rude service that you get here.
Have been before and enjoyed myself. Didnt spend much time this most recent visit. But the service was great. Bathrooms were clean. Music was solid. If you like hookah and music, solid choice.
Decent hookah lounge with potential to be very nice. A few upgrades to the decor could be beneficial to the overall experience. The drinks were very watered down but the hookah was pretty good. It seemed as though they were understaffed as it was about 4 servers for a lounge that had at least 80 people. All in all I would return but wouldnt be a go to spot for me.
A really nice place to hang out.went with my girlfriend and got a small area to ourselves to smoke and drink. Sushi was pretty good too! Would definitely visit again
The waitress definitely stole the cash I gave her.We ordered several drinks and two hookahs. I paid for a portion in cash. When I asked for a receipt, the waitress disappeared and had the manager look for the receipt. How would the manager know what I ordered when he didn’t take our table. The other portion was paid with a card so all they had record for was that portion. I had to go because my uber was outside so I didn’t have time to deal with it but I found it very skeptical that minutes after I paid for my drinks and hookah When I requested a receipt, the waitress definitely avoided me.I was waiting for 15minutes and still no receipt. This is poor customer service but also real sketchy. These people can’t be trusted.Avoid giving this place business for sure.
Best hookah bar in DC period! This is one of only 3 hookah bars who actually have a tobacco license in town, all others are selling it illegally. It’s also the oldest hookah bar In DC, I’ve been coming here for over 15 years
I reserved a table , got there , didn’t wait too long but when your seated the catches come. I got a hookah for 35$, & two trash cans 16$ each.... then we were told we had to buy sushi to stay at the table...... mind you the sushi prices weren’t as much the hookah so I was confused on why the table couldn’t be held on the strength of the hookah. They do refill the coal but I didn’t ask because it’s 35$ for another pack.. they never moved the coals, we did.... it was pretty slow in there I didn’t understand why the service wasn’t outstanding.. the drinks were not made right don’t say I’ll make you a trash can and not make it with red bull .. then it’s not a trash can.. like it was coo but .. not the greatest.
I loved this place very chilled hookah spot good music and vibes. Strong drinks and good service. I will definitely recommend friends and family
Atmosphere was great. Arrived a little before midnight waitress did not tell us kitchen closed at 12 a.m. however proceeded to enjoy hiooka and I expressed that it taste funny and she kept telling me it was fine. Drinks were good tho. Luckily tip was already included in bill, as a good tipper I did not want to tip due to service
Very elegant atmosphere! Once you ascend upstairs, you enter thru a glass door to a charming atmosphere. It is a low lit lounge. They have a DJ next to the bar. To the right is a separate room that looks like a glass box that looks out to the city. The left side is cozy and private. One of the better deals Ive seen on hookah. The wait staff is very attentive. They make sure that your coals are hot with no interruption to smoke. Blend your flavors if you like. Drinks are reasonable priced. They serve food. Didnt have a chance to try food this time, but I would go back and visit to try.
After tonights experience at Gazuza, I was compelled to write my first Google review. I used to come to Gazuza at least once a month for happy hour because they have good sushi, at very reasonable prices ,and a happy hour that goes later than most places in DC. Ive never had an issue with service before, but tonights experience included the worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant in my life. I ordered my usual rolls, which included a Dragon roll. Instead, one of the waitresses brings out a Bamboo roll. I said no, I ordered a Dragon roll. The waitress (a tall brunette Eastern European) who took my order comes over and has the audacity to argue with me! She says, no, you ordered the Bamboo roll. I said no, I ordered what I always get, and she continues to argue with me! My friends were stunned and commented they said they had never seen something like that before. I asked to speak to the manager, and the waitress says, no, you cant. If it wasnt for the other waitress (the cute blonde) who took over our table who corrected the issue, I would have given this place one star. In any event, I am never going back to Gazuza and I will be sharing this experience with all my friends whove Ive recommended Gazuza to in the past and will never recommend this place ever again.
We called ahead to see if they would be playing NBA playoffs and they said they would be happy to. The most popular hookah flavors were a mixture of anything plus mint. Food was ok and once it got busy, slow to arrive. They had a limited amount of drink options. Couches were comfortable and the servers were personable and attentive. Great place to smoke hookah, lounge and watch the game.
Greta place for hookah and sushi, honestly one of the best sushi in DMV area. Great service as well, a specially Yuliia - super welcoming and professional
Stopped in here on a tour of DC cocktail bars. The sushi was very nice and the cocktails were pretty good, but not earth-shattering. Overall, I thought that the prices were a little high for the quality of drinks and food. The service left a bit to be desired.
Gazuza has a hip atmosphere and good ambiance, and the times I have been there it has been less crowded than other spots in the area. We sat at the bar, and service was not an issue. We were early to dine on a Saturday night (they dont open until 6PM) and had sushi and tuna tartare. Drinks and food were good. Sushi was excellent, especially the dragon roll.
The server we had was not friendly (very lackluster approach to serving us) and It took an hour just to receive my California Roll. Mind you, my friends complicated sushi order came out faster than mine 😧. I was invited to be there while visiting from out of town for a get together and I think its safe to say that I wont be returning by my own will ever again.
Would not let us sit down and purchase a hookah. Plenty of available tables but you need a party of five to be seated. Waste of time! Security was really nice though.
This place is cool. The lasagna rolls are delicious, and the hookah is good. Sometimes they are understaffed though. Its like 1 or 2 people working the entire spot. I gave 3 stars because the manager copied my credit card and ID without my knowledge and requested that I sign the copy as proof in case I dispute the charge!!!! This blew my mind, why would he assume that I would dispute the charge?!?! I doubt this is a request made of all customers. It was a little insulting considering the fact that it was only a $300 bill, which isnt s$&t. Clearly the business isnt doing that well.
An ok place. The HH menu and prices are good. The sushi was very good for the price (usually the HH sushi is very basic/simple). The classic Margarita was really good, try it! The only thing I didnt like was the smell...I know they serve hookah here, but still - I would expect less smell there, especially considering I was there around 5:30 which is pretty much right after they opened. Also, dont know what are the vibes at this place during the weekends, but mid week it was quite empty with tired vibes.
2-9-19 night1st and last time... It was a cute lilttle spot but no spunk to it.the seating is horrible if you are on a date.food ...serve one thing 1Sushi....Drinks -1 i had wine it tasted so bland and dry. Service -1 waitress was trash.being honest. Thats my review. Save your self and dont waste your time or money.
Its an okay spot. For DC, I expected a hookah lounge to be a little nicer. I would not describe this as posh or sleek interior like Google states. It was dark and grungy. Hookah and drinks were fine but the atmosphere really disappoints.
Nice place, great music...I used to come in and get a nice table by the windows but they turned it into sort of a VIP section where now you have to buy a 250 dollar bottle to sit there ? Used to be 5 starts now it’s turned into a cash cow ... (if anyone from the business side sees this) —> worry about your customers and their experience vs how you can milk your customers. 1 happy customer can = to 100s more.
Brittany was AMAZING!!! So attentive and before we could even need anything she appeared as if from thin air. Welcoming, thoughtful, and recommendations were second to none. Whenever I come to DC I’m definitely coming here and looking for the section she’s working. Did I mention she was AMAZING?! The vibe of the place and music are great as well. But that service tho?! 👌🏾
Very limited selection of alcohols. Waitress didnt ask how I liked my scotch and just served it with a bunch of ice (I insist on having it neat). Cant sit close to the window unless its 5+ people. Got moved from our original table because they wanted to accommodate a bigger group. Just left after one drink. Wont let you smoke cigarettes. I could go on.....Just dont go to this place, certainly not worth the money.
First time in DC decided to go out for hookah. I saw that Gazuza served both sushi and hookah, and I thought the combination was pretty cool so I decided to go here. The hookah was a little over 20 bucks (overpriced) which was more than I am use to paying. The sushi was fine but nothing that would bring me back. The worst part of my experience was the customer service. My waitress the tall blonde had an attitude. It seemed like she didnt want to be at work. There were several times I tried to get her attention, but she kept on walking away. When it came to her giving me the check it took her forever. Then after the fact when she had finally given me the check. I had to wait forever again for her to pick back up the check she never came back around. After 20 mins of waiting for her to come back for the check I decided to get up and physically give it to her. (It wasnt a busy night that I went in, so I found that inexcusable.) Her and several other employees were just standing around talking and laughing when I walked up to her to give her the check. I honestly felt like walking out without paying, and they probably wouldnt have even noticed. Once she gave me back my change I left, and I definitely will not be back. I am sure there are better hookah places in the DC area.
It took long to be seated and once they gave us a spot no one came by to take our order, asked 2 different people if they could take my order but got ignored in a rude way, even the table next to us was surprised. Went to the bar to order instead but told me to order with the server. We sat for like 30 minutes then we decided to leave and we were asked to pay the tab. Like what???? You guys didn’t even took our orders, what tab??? They most not like tourists. Terrible experience
Oooops. Wouldn’t reccomendThe place is cute and the athmosfare is nice, but the service is really bad. First They kicked us out of the ”special” area when there was no sign of it being special. After that we had to wait for a long time (15-20 mins) to get our hookah. The place wasnt very busy so didnt get why. The witress was walking around snacking on food. Not very professional. We ordered drinks but they delivered to another table first. Eventually the hookah came it wasnt good at all. Barely no smoke. They seemed very confused. The dj is great though. Good music. Mojito tasted like icewater, Nothing special.Feel like people working there Dont know What good service is and they were just playing around with each other. They also took the tip and automatically added it to the check. Nonsense.I wouldnt recommend it and I wouldnt go back. Waste of money.
Good Happy Hour Sushi, Hookah, and drinks. The service was a bit slow, and it wasnt crowded. However, this didnt take away from the experience. Its walking distance (2 mins) from the DuPont Circle Metro, so its the perfect after work spot!
Im not big on hookah, but it was subpar in comparison to the more upscale bars Ive been to. Ive heard DC is big on hookah so this might be the norm. Uber driver also had a hard time finding it. We arrived at 12:02 and the kitchen was closed for the night so we left for a while and grabbed & Pizza and ate it in there! The tables were a nice size and created an atmosphere for our group to talk.
Small space. Sushi is very very mediocre. Its solid if you like hookah. The music was on loop but not that bad. Sports games playing in the background.
Service was good. Atmosphere? A little bit less. The place has no acoustics which makes the music echo from each corner of the room. That said, people shout all over and eventually make the place louder than it should be. I had to raise my voice to speak to a friend that was 4 ft away from me. Unfortunately the hookah was chocking, they fill small part of the head with tobacco and charge $23 for it (which I find very expensive) they also charge gratuity fee so make sure you dont overtip. I dont know if there are any other hookah places in the area but this one is definitely not the best one Ive been to.
This venue is beautiful and centrally located around other establishments however, the spacing, service and lengthy wait time is unappealing. When we arrived to a gathering for our friends birthday we struggled to find proper seating with our party. Additionally, the hookahs were decent.
Service overall is slow. Servers smoke hookah at the bar and forget about their tables pretty often. Also, the last time i went, i was told they no longer take cards that dont have a chip in them. What kind of card reader doesnt have the ability to swipe a card on it? We were told this when we were paying, not when we first sat down. And theres no signage at the bar that lets customers know in advance. #Wack
Walked in at midnight with my colleagues, we were quickly seated and waitress was attentive and fun! Owner showed his gratuity too. Music and atmosphere kept the night going after a long night at a Gala/fundraiser
Rude server. Blonde haired female, skinny, European. Almost as if us spending our money here was for our own good.Mustve been international night. I had to check her tone. If I do return. If request a different server. Vibes was nice otherwise.
Loud af and kinda dingy with overpriced and limited selection of beers. You can get bottle service, I guess, but it also seems like the kind of place where the cocktails are all two-ingredient and over-iced. It really comes off as if its not sure if its a hookah bar, a sushi restaurant (I was not brave enough to eat here), or a club. Basically, I had some out of town guests staying with me who wanted to hit up a hookah joint, and this filled that requirement. I really dont have anything good to say about this place except that the service was quite good.
One of the few good hookah spots in DC
Tried to sell us a $100 bottle of “cava” but it was a $6 bottle of J.Roget. Acted super annoyed when we didn’t want it and served watered down drinks and ignored us until we left. Used to always hang out here but it’s gone way downhill.
Too bad there arent negative stars. I work in the service industry, and am very easy to please . Gazuza prompted me to write my the first review of any restaurant I have ever been to, the experience was absolutely terrible. Not only are the hours misstated online, they yell at their customers to get out 15 minutes before the time they decide to close. My roommate and I arrived an hour and a half before their closing time and were being yelled at 20 minutes later to leave. I will never ever be returning to Gazuza, ever.
Scrutinise your receipt really well or don’t go here if you’re already intoxicated. Somehow or the other, they decided it was appropriate to add gratuity to the check for a table of 3 and neglected to disclose that so of course I tipped on top of it. I tipped even though we had to chase down the server ourselves each time to get water or get new coal or get drinks. It’s dishonest and I’m not going to be revisiting this establishment.
GAZUZA LOUNGE HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE ESTABLISHMENT TO GET AWAY FROM BIG NIGHT CLUB SCENE RELAX AND STILL HAVE GOOD TIME AND LISTEN GOOD MUSIC AND THIS LOUNGEI LOVE THE FACT THAT MENU IS BOUTIQUE AND SUCH A LOUNGE FOOD BECAUSE I DONT WANT TO HAVE HEAVY FOOD TO TAKE JOY OUT OF MY DRINKS AND HOOKAH . MULTICULTURAL ENVIORMENT DIFFERENT NATIONATILIEA GIVE BETTER SELECTION FOR ME TO ENJOY MY NIGHTS WITH OTHER GUESTS
Customer service is literally the worst the waitresses were drunk and confused they couldnt do their job properly she stood us up for 45 minutes just to find a seat there was one but she was too drunk to find it we had to point her ourselves and sit there how embarrassing and guess what another waitress barged in with an attitude extremely unprofessional other than that hookah and seats were ok
Great place, came here with my friends and had fun! Friendly stuff, drinks are awesome and hooah is fire!!!Definitely coming back!
The best thing going here is the reputation. Over the years this place has become a shell of What it used to be, with all of the other hookah bars around the city. Service was lacking, hookah was burning when it arrived. I had to say something to get it corrected and the drinks were pretty much lackluster. This is may be my 20th time here and it is not worth it.
I have been here several times. Not a very special place but its okay to relax at. Came one night and they didnt allow us to come in because we were wearing sneakers. I conveyed to the manager that this was a return visit among several and he did not care in the least. I let him know I would not be returning and he was unphased. Terrible way to treat loyal clients.
Think modern contemporary dive bar that serves sushi and has hookahs. As opposed to what others have stated, I had no issues with service; the bartenders were nice to me, and my drinks were made well; however what I believe that Gazuza suffers from a lack of direction. The last time I was there they had a basketball game going on a couple TVs, people were eating sushi or smoking hookahs... and in the background a DJ was mixing on the patio hosting a dance party. Any one or two of these things by themselves is great -- but the vibe left something to be desired. Gazuza needs to find their niche and stick to it -- because currently they seem to be all over the place.
Decent Hookah, alright ambiance, good music - too bad they cheapen their own brand by doing things like charging 3.64 for soda water and lime. How did you even come up with that cost? That cover your soda water margins? just a random charge basically. Unfortunate.
I’m definitely coming back! Had a blast!I love this place and people that work there are helpful and nice!10/10
This establishment is breaking the law and rights of patrons! To me it was discrimination to tell me my drivers license had to be held in order to be served. It’s against the law for an establishment to hold your identification and not return it until youre finished. We asked to speak to the manager and he told us that this was policy because so many ppl ran out on their tab. This is an unlawful practice and because one person ran out on their tab...everyone has to be punished. We refused to give him our ID to hold and he told us it’s also his right not to serve us! We told the manager that this behavior doesn’t make us comfortable to return and his answer was OK and he walked off. The staff was not friendly and we felt very discriminated against.
Drinks were great! Hookah was great and reasonable price! However the DJ sucked!!!!! Must be one of the worst DJs Ive ever heard. Here are the reasons why:1. No interest in playing any songs recognizable.2. Wouldnt take music request.3. Music would stop playing when he would left the DJ both.4. I would think if they played R&B, Hip Hop, Techno, Top 40, or anything recognizable it would be a really nice place!!!So to conclude its a great place, but rated it low due to the horrible music. I would have stayed there much longer, but couldnt take the music from one of the worst DJs Ive ever heard in the DMV! Please make the change Gazuza Lounge!!
While the sushi was good I dont understand why this place takes my credit card and ID, seems a little extreme. It looks nice but that policy is crass. I wont be back. If you dont mind that have at it, they also have hookah.
The hookahs could be better, but the customer service was great.Sorry my 2 stars go the person who hired then person who hired the “hookah guy”
Highly disappointed! Set up a party at a reserved table and we were charged for drinks we didnt order. They held my card and refused to give it back until the bill for all 15 people was paid. In order to leave we had to pay an extra $50 to cover the items we disputed. NEVER AGAIN! Save ur money and go to the Darna lounge in VA!
So we showed up on a rainy night wearing flip flops and rain coats as one might when they didnt want to ruin their clothes. The bouncer successfully extorted $10 from me because I wanted to get in but was not willing to wear leather shots that would be ruined on the rain. Then because we werent going to spend the table fee of $150 to sit at a patio table we were relegated to the back. Moving along...this must have been the only hookah bar Ive ever been to that didnt serve tea. The shisha was great to be fair. The music, horrendously repetitive house.
Ive been in all the spots all over DC. This aint it. My first and last time seeing this place. The hooka guy was cool but thats it, the hooka guy earned the one star I gave.
Service is typically bad during happy hour unless you’re at the bar. However, great sushi, hookah, and cheap drinks. The DuPont circle location is also clutch.
Not my favorite nice aesthetic.
Looking forward to the next visit. Red snapper was delicious and the staff is very friendly. If your reading this go now😁
Great music and good atmosphere. Definitely will be returning soon.
Vibe is nice but drink and food selection is extremely limited. Takes away from the experience. Definitely a low end lounge.
Pricey. Its a decent vibe. Too much airflow for a hookah bar. The hookah was also pretty weak, like it didnt really hit you much and I dont even smoke anymore. Its location is good though. Easy to get to.
(1/30/18)I went here with my boyfriend on a last minute adventure... and just to make a long story short this is a low class hookah spot. The workers were all young white girls who did not know how to make a hookah or fix a messed up one. Both of us know how it should taste and pull and they kept insisting there was nothing wrong with ours (every time we tried to pull hard we would cough a lot) which is NOT normal I’m 26 and been all around the DMV spots so yes I know a bad hookah AND...we asked for patron margaritas and received pink drinks in martini glasses like—what?!
Good sushi, fine shisha if youre able to handle de-ashing and rotating the coal yourself. Not enough servers and the front section is often reserved, but youll only find that out after sitting there for awhile without service.
They declined us because my friend didn’t have his ID (He had his birth certificate but they didn’t care). Also the vibe was mid when we came on a Wednesday night. Boring.
The food was spectacular. I highly suggest the steak kabab and the chicken thigh dish. The drinks werent good and the service was kinda iffy bby the food made up for it
Went for HH. Drinks werent good. Sushi was ok. I wouldnt go back with the expectation of good sushi and drinks.Music was solid with good acoustics
Nice and chill spot. The vibe is smooth and the price is fair. Will definitely stop by again 💯
It could be better if they had more food choices other than sushi. Its a nice and chill place to go to. Drinks are pricey.
The only word I can think of to aptly describe Gazuza is Eurotrashy. Its trendy & hip, sure, with a lot of would-be hipsters-gone-corporate lounging around in satin dresses and collared shirts, but its also got a distinctly European feel - & not always in a good way. The inside of Gazuza feels like a Bret Easton Ellis or Jay McInerney novel, like people are probably doing lines in the bathroom & comparing business cards at the tables, & the pulsating, pounding pseudo-techno is enough to disoriente you, make you feel like youre watching a slow-motion, Vicodin-laced, flashing-lights version of yourself. That said, I really do like their patio area. Its got a fun view of the street below, so if youre sitting near the railing you can people-watch over Connecticut. And the hookah is simply great - smooth, long-lasting & satisfying, although certainly NOT inexpensive. Im a fan of their champagne mojito & their mint hookah. The drinks are outstanding, although you should order two at once to overcompensate for the slowwww service.
Service was terribleFood was coldDrinks were mediocreHookah was decentMusic was goodWouldn’t recommend or return
The girl who receives you at the door is extremely rude. Me and my two invitees are over 22 years old and had valid ids (us and spain) yet she insisted we could not drink because we had to provide passports. She then proceeded to scream at my girlfriend for trying to provide another form of id in order to demonstrate she is over the required age. She ended up making a somewhat inaproppiate comment about us being latin and european, or basically non-us residents. You guys should either retrain your servers or leave a chain of business which involves treating people right.
Nice cozy place, that has a separated area for hookah smokers. I just wished the menu was a little bit more versatile. Drinks are slightly more expensive!
Great happy specials that runs until 8 p.m. which is late for the city. Sushi and hookah was good, nice atmosphere and chill vibe.
THID PLAcE Is OWNED BY RACISITS. iF you are bLack do not come here. They will turn you down based on it being “full to capacity” but it will be empty as hell!!! Plenty of hookah bars in d.c! Black consumers DO NOT give this company you business! My coworkers and I got turned around for absolutely no reason!! But literally watched non black patron exit the bar. This place needs to be shut down permantely.! If you want non racist hookah do not come here!
The sushi is good. Hookah is pretty horrible and very overpriced. Oh yea, they keep adding coal without telling you that each one costs you.
Great experience, exceptional service just an overall top tier experience definitely worth of a recommendation!
Gazuza is a fun place to grab some basic sushi and Hookah. Its not the best hookah or best sushi but definitely a consistent good time.
Super slow service. Drinks are not made well at all. Hookah is subpar and the atmosphere is basic. Seats are uncomfortable and tables small. Don’t waste your time.
Loved it very electric but could use more seats.
Great atmosphere. Speaker kept going out though. And there wasnt a lot of room to dance. But DJ was great!
My go to place in DC, always a good vibe ❤️
Wonderful and excellent customer service would take all of my loved ones there anytime
Sushi is great! The Gazuza roll specifically. Dont expect good service but the food and atmosphere are nice!
The service here is always very blah but I like the vibe of the place and the drinks are good.
This place is dope. Its not easy to find a place with great sushi AND hookah. Great vibe and strong drinks.
Great music, Seductive atmosphere, Awesome Bartenders, Good Hookah flavor choices and the Sushi is on point!
For the price and quality I might as well had just stayed home and smoked my own hookah. Good luck on finding a waitress.
This is a great spot with a chill vibe. They have good hookah, great drinks and the best sushi Ive ever had.
Don’t waste your time or money. Awful service and an awful atmosphere. The manager (co-owner), Omar, was beyond rude. Couldn’t be bothered with us. Horrible place.... Just awful.... Avoid avoid avoid!!!
Good place for a nice hukka.. a bit expensive for the quality of drinks, but definitely a great fix if youre in Dupont and need somewhere nice and chill place to hangout
Music was good. They have beer on the menu but it was unavailable. unnecessarily dark in there.
Juliana was amazing. Definitely going back to see her
Affordable hookah and happy hour drinks, clean and classy. Nice atmosphere, good lounge music at just the right volume for conversation.
Sevice is trash and music was not popping and drinks was basic. I expected more from this place.
Super chill!
Nice environment. Didnt tey the food but the drinks were good and the atmosphere was grown and sexy. Nice!
Love this place!!!! Amazing service will definitely be coming back often
Great ambiance, great service, ordered sushi which was normal and hookah was good, lost the star for overpriced menu.
The hookah is hit or miss and they upcharge for certain flavors. The Starbucks flavors are trash, dont fall for it.
Hookah and Martinis were good but didnt serve food until after a certain time. So we left.
Great selection on the whole menu! Love the staff!
Great atmosphere , nice hookahs and very professional
Hookah is good. You can tell they clean their hoses and use good shisha bc you get a good pull with lots of smoke.
I took a 30 minute Lyft just to be tolfthry wouldnt be able to accommodate one person.
Good place 2 spend some time in with Hookah. If they asked 4ur ID & credit card, then better 2 pay ur check in advance
Omar, the manager, is very nice. Yulia is the best waitress, so friendly. Love her
Visiting from Houston Texas, DJ was great! Its a vibe.
Vibes and everything is great. They need a dj from Thursday to Sunday
Majority of the music played was Latin wouldve liked more of a mix but overall wonderful place.
Happy hour. Nice food , drinks and shisha at good prices. Cute waitresses
Cool ambiance the only I wish they had was more for the food selection. Otherwise, cool spot.
Great bar wonderful experience nice drinks
Great place to get drinks and hookah with amazing service
Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff and great location
Its great place with nice service. Amazing hosts, Shisha is fantastic and the best in the area.
The place is not that good. Hookah average. 2 stars for the excellent service.
I have never seen a place which would charge $1 for any additional hookah coal, after 2 coals included in the price. Ridiculous.
The staff was very friendly. The customers were kinda bratty but overall a good time.
Its a nice place, staff is great but they close at 2:30a it says 3:00a on google
Nice and cozy. Seats in main area are worse than doc office but vibes are dope overall.
The staff and manager are fantastically unprofessional. Unclear how places like this can still survive in central DC. Not for long.
Fantastic sushi, great drinks and amazing shisha. Totally worth a visit.
Good drinks and sushi. Hookah was pretty good too. Loved the vibe and good music.
Excellent service good atmosphere definitely coming back
Very nice environment, the price was a little above average, best of all NO COVER CHARGE!
Fun atmosphere but overpriced. Must buy a bottle to get a table on a Tuesday!
Great place! Friendly employees.Thank you, Yuliia! She made our night best 😍
Nice hookah selection and cool place to hang out. I had a lovely time.
Great food, great vibe, excellent hookah, slow service.
Great place. Although it was difficult finding it as the signs are not very visible from the street if you are driving
Chic location, good music, amazing hookah flavors ! But a bit pricey
Very good food and hookah, terrible waitress. So rude
The waiters took 45 mins to give me my change
Went there around 930 on a Friday, got hookah and sushi, great vibes!
Cool place awesome happy hour prices great hookah $18 happy hour 5-8
Nice vibe. Would definitely go back again.
The bar tender and the server were the best I ever had!!! OMG oh la-la 😝😝😝
Place is very relaxing. Great location. Hookah is very affordable.
Awesomeness in sushi and the atmosphere was amazing 6 stars
The hookah is horrible, it tastes like mud and it is expensive. Waste of time and money.
Strong ass hookah....good drinks...Happy Hour on point
Was honestly really disappointing. I wouldnt go back.
Great spot for happy hour drinks, sushi, and hookah.
Nice vibe but needs better quality hookah products.
It was my friends birthday. We had a great time.
Great environment and service. Fair price. Definately recommend.
Fair view, fine service, bad hookah.. good music
Too loud after 9pm. They dont allow hats, which is weird.
Thank you Gazuza lounge for making me happy
I wasn’t impressed...there’s better places to spend your money.
Nice chill out spot. Hookah, drinks and musicOh yes, sushi too
Been going here for years. Love Gazuza and the staff
This is the worst place I have ever been to. I would never recommend anyone coming here.
