My mom and I have been clients of Emily’s for 20+ years. I currently reside in Vermont and continue to come here because, simply put, Emily is the absolute best. Besides being a phenomenal stylist, she is warm and welcoming. She’s held space for us in the most challenging of times and celebrated the good ones with us. She was there when I made the ‘big chop’ for Locks of Love back in high school. I recently brought my 10 year old daughter for her first big-kid haircut (and some special highlights) and it was such a memorable experience. My daughter left feeling so confident, pretty, and grown.So now, all three generations are clients for life. (Love you Emily!)

Cassidy is one of the most talented hairstylists I’ve been to. She is knowledgeable in all aspects—color, technique, cutting. She takes care to make sure you’re satisfied as a customer, explaining her process and ideas along the way. And on top of all that, she’s hard working, friendly and committed to giving you an excellent experience.

Have been with Danielle for many years, she is the BEST! Never fails in her ability to make you feel like a new person leaving the salon. Always with great recommendations for subtle adjustments that are always exceptional. Highly recommend!

Great salon!! Many artists there. Carmelina is the artist who cuts my hair and she’s wonderful! Styvesant Plaza is easy to get to. You can call for appointments, make them online or I can text Carmelina!! I receive many compliments on my haircuts from her.

This place is wonderful. Very welcoming friendly and peaceful. This was my first visit and I will be going back again and again. I have been losing hair lately and Beth listened to my concerns and made me feel better. I went in feeling kinda sad but left happy and refreshed with a beautiful haircut!!! Would give no stars if I could! I used to love going to Jean Paul now I will NEVER go again!!!! I was left with a horrible hair cut. Had holes everywhere that left my curly hair a stringy mess!!! I was so over waxed that it took 3 weeks for the skin to heal around my eyes!!! Be careful who you go to!!! Will never step foot in that place again. So disappointed

I love Jean Paul Salon at Stuyvesant. All of the staff is super friendly and professional, the shop is beautiful with an abundance of great products. Brett is my stylist and goes above and beyond to get my color right. Veronica is an expert with pedicures. I wont go to anyone else!

I usually get my hair cut in Cobleskill, but since I’m now working in Albany it’s been a struggle to try and find an opening that fits my new schedule. I decided to try out this salon, seeing as they had great reviews and I booked with Ashley, who was at the top of their list of employees,Pros:- The place was very clean and organized.- The employees that I had interacted with were very nice.- I ended up paying around half what I was originally quoted for due to the style I ended up with.Cons:- I had brought in a photo of the style I wanted (my hair was plenty long enough for it, and I had had the style before, it had just been a while so I had no pictures of it on me). I felt as though Ashley glanced at it and kind of freestyled her own version of it without doing too much to analyze exactly what was going on in the photo. I ended up with hair a decent bit shorter than I wanted and the one side is a bit shorter than the other. While I wouldn’t say it looks awful, and I can definitely make it look nice, I wish she would have done a bit of a better job to try and match the photo a bit better.All in all I would have had a great experience, but the cut was subpar at best and for the top specialist on the list (with the highest price too) I was expecting better.

I have been going to Michele for a while now. She cuts all three of my girls hair. She is amazing. One of my daughter’s is very shy and anxious, but she always takes the time to talk to her, get her comfortable, and keeps her involved every step of the way. HOWEVER, I think the best review for her comes from my 7 year old during her last cut (who has extremely long and thick hair & requires an hour just for a trim) - “I’m so happy I went. Sometimes I don’t feel like going to get a cut and I say no [because of how long it takes] but today I felt like it and man I’m glad I did. The water and the shampoo, the rubbing of my head felt so good. My favorite part was when Michele dried my hair and used that brush. I could’ve slept it felt so good.” Now my youngest makes sure to tell me when it’s time to go see Michele! All three girls have different hair textures, thickness, curls and waves - doesn’t matter, she handles handles it all without missing a beat and is always honest with them about hairstyles they want to try. We love her and everyone at Jean Paul. They are the welcoming and friendly.

My Stylist, Amy, gave me an amazing layered cut that works so well for my curly hair. I feel so much better getting all those inches cut off. My hair still reaches my shoulders but I actually have something to style and play with now. Being in my 50s, it was nice to have her give me advice and she knew just what to do with my long hair to make me feel rejuvenated.

Getting a haircut has never been my favorite thing to do but I think it’s because I didn’t have the right stylist. I have a TON of very fine and long hair and I feel like hairdressers in the past were either intimidated by it or didn’t know how to properly cut it. After an unsatisfying and disappointing haircut one day, I was recommended to Lucy and she was able to fix it all up! I’ve returned to Lucy multiple times now and she makes me feel like a rockstar every time I leave the salon! She’s very talented and knows how to shape, layer, and thin my hair perfectly.The salon is always clean and the ambiance is very nice. There is a vast selection of products to choose from for all hair types and price points. All of the employees that I’ve interacted with at Jean Paul are super friendly and knowledgeable, and I’m grateful that I feel so comfortable and confident coming here when I need to get a haircut xoxo

I never come back to this place . Expensive and not friendly at all . Not good vibe .Kind of rude . I did pedicure for just color. Not even gel one . I paid $78 for only regular color. She didnt even ask me how are you ?I had manicure appointment but I cancelled because of my very bad experience. They didnt care at all even when I canceled my appointment and I was not happy at all .They asked me to call them because of my bad experience but no one answered. Thanks for your service😏

Theres once in a lifetime not usually twice where you find someone that can give you the most amazing haircut every time!! A haircut that you would happily pay a $1000 plus for, But its so well done that you only need it once a year Kisori happens to be the person that can offer you that amazing Haircut along with many other top notch services. I can NOT say enough!! This is the only place that my kids and I get our hair cuts!!

Really love this place - been going for over 20 years. Just lately I find I am getting charged for extras that were never there before. Went in for my normal cut and highlights and there was an extra $40 charge for a root smudge. No idea what that was for and I for sure was not asked ahead of time. Im happy to pay for whatever, but I want the option to know ahead of time.

Emily cut my hair and did a great job. She has 25 yrs of experience and is very patient. If you have straight hair I recommend Emily 💯

I had so many mixed wonderful emotions since I would never dare treat “myself” to something like this.The entire staff from my entrance to exit made me feel special. But, his haircut is genuinely very handsome, suits him well, and Micheles cut and layers stay in place. Experts all around! Lucy is excellent. I get a pedicure from her every other month and she is excellent. She is a pleasant person to interact with and after many years at her line of work, takes it to the highest level. I always feel pampered after the lotions and potions she uses on my feet and legs during the French pedicure. I recommend her highly.

I used Jean Paul Spa & Salon for my wedding hair/makeup. I was a little nervous because I didnt see many reviews specific to weddings online, but it ended up going wonderfully! Liv & Katie were a delight to work with, they helped us with a variety of hair styles, they worked fast but carefully, and they really listened to what each of us wanted. I was SO anxious about the hair and makeup leading up to the day, but they made me feel the perfect balance of glamorous and comfortable in my own skin. Quinn, the wedding events coordinator at JPS was also wonderful to work with and made everything run so smoothly!

Highly recommend a pedicure with Veronica. My feet have never been softer or this moisturized for days after. Well worth the price.

I have been going to Beth at JPS for over 15 years. She is an expert, a surgeon for the hair and always makes my hair “better than it is”! She treats you like you’re her only client. Those that help her are also very polite, professional and excellent at their craft. The hosts greet you by name and very welcoming. It’s more than just a haircut. You feel better after this experience and it is a small benefit I treat myself to every 6 weeks. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍

I have been going to Jean Paul for many years and have weathered some of their changes. For the past few years there has definitely been an improvement. The front desk staff is always welcoming and they the time to personalize their conversations with clients. Shelby, my esthetician, is the best. She is warm, calming, conscious of sensitivities and using cruelty free products. Autumn, massage therapist, is a seasoned professional that I also enjoy seeing, but dont use often enough for sure! I always look forward to my time at Jean Paul.

I LOVE going to see Gigi at the Albany location for my waxing! She is easy to talk to, very professional and takes her time to make sure you have the best experience possible each and every time you see her! I never leave with wax still on my skin or any hair left over (like I have at OTHER salons). She also does a number of other services that I can’t wait to try that she has been telling me about! I definitely will be sticking with Gigi for all skin care needs and wants!

I have had a manicure and pedicure with Menuka twice now. She is so nice and does beautiful work. I am always so happy with my manicure and pedicure. I wish I could give her more than 5 stars ⭐️.

They should really make sure it’s clear what the client is asking for BEFORE getting scissor happy on their hair. I went in for a bob length haircut and tried to have a conversation with the stylist about what I was looking for but she heard bob and ran. All she would say was “it’s going to be so cute” to every one of my concerns. Then went on to cut excessive layers, face framing, and hair thinning that I did not want nor ask for. I now am stuck waiting to grow out the same layers and face framing I was trying to get rid of which she would have known if she tried to listen to me in the first place. Luckily wearing my hair natural can hide everything I don’t like about my haircut but I have to say I’m bummed about spending $80 on a haircut I deeply dislike.

I absolutely adore everyone at Jeanpaul spa, but Kisori I have been going to for 21 years and she does you right. I have not been disappointed one time I have been to the salon and seeing Kisori not only is she so dear to me as a person as my Stylist but she has become such a great friend. You know when you go to see her you don’t even have to look at it when you leave it’s gonna be perfect. I also go to Lucy and I definitely recommend her as well. I love her to death. Very disappointed with the salon staff for providing the wrong amount after I specifically asked to speak with Cassidy. Its frustrating when you receive one price over the phone, but then a different amount is mentioned on the day of your hair appointment. Cassidy mentioned that nobody informed her about the call. I had CPR treatment, and she assured me that she would have the correct amount set up for me. If shes not available, she suggested calling the front desk for the amount. Its crazy how Salon can take such advantage of you, and later just apologize as if it will fix the situation. Emily at the front desk whom I spoke to.

My massage with Haiyan was so wonderful! She obviously loves what she is doing, shes very knowledgeable, and has such calm and contagious energy. I appreciate all of her helpful tips on correcting my posture and sleep position. Highly recommend her massage!

I had booked a appointment for Keratin with Shayna.Before my keratin treatment I had a consulted Shayna what I was expecting with my hair.I was told about the options Keratin express and Brazilian blowout,so being very naive about it I asked the difference between the both and I was clearly told that there is no difference as such it’s just keratin express would last for min 2 months and Brazilian blowout would last for 6 months.So I thought that to have keratin express first and if it goes well I can do Brazilian blowout.I did Keratin express and Hair cut same day and I payed 260$ for both, was so happy that day with my hairs I booked next appointment for Hair-color for 18 Aug.So as I was told not to do Hair wash for 8 hours and I followed it, next evening I had hair wash and it was disaster for me.No one can tell that I had keratin. I have done keratin before and it went pretty well.Now I am facing hair fall and more tangles and poor hair quality.I tried to reach out the owner and explained her about my hair and she is like you won’t get curl free or freeze free hair after Keratin express, you should have done full keratin.This is so amazing to know that Keratin express which even don’t last for a day and they call it as Keratin😂A big big no to Jean Paul they won’t even will listen to your grievances and will support their stylist instead.Poor client handling techniques guys.Also I am adding photo where I have been told about services offered no where it is mentioned about Keratin express.Also pictures of hair after Keratin.

Fantastic haircut with Terri, she cut off exactly the amount I asked for and then finished with a great blow dry. I have a bob-style haircut and I like the styling products Terri uses. I highly recommend Terri for her professionalism and experience!

This was my first time at the salon. I booked an appointment for a haircut with Ashley. What a pleasurable experience. Ashleys consultation was thorough and she made sure I was comfortable with different aspects of the haircut as it progressed. I definitely recommend the salon and Ashley.

Just waste my money for this salon. Very poor haircut and manicure service. The hairdresser tortured and ruined my pixie haircut. The lady who did the manicure was disaster. She doesnt know what she is doing…and yet, very expensive…i will never go back to this salon and tell everyone to not go here, such a waste of money and time…

She always does the best job with cutting my hair to suit my facial features. Danielle is the total package! My hair is healthy and shiny thanks to Danielle.

I was running quite late due to traffic and it was no problem at all. My nail tech Manuka was friendly, kind and careful to make sure I was happy with her services. And the price was very reasonable compared to others of the same caliber in the area. My appointment was for a manicure but she even stayed late to give me a pedicure. Great experience!

Just Left Jon Paul in Stuyvesant Plaza got a deep tissue massage for 90 minutes with Haiyan must say it was the best I ever had she knowledgeable, professional and extremely nice I recommend her and I will definitely be making a another appointment!

My 17 yr old son went for a hair cut. The hairdresser accidentally shaved his eyebrow. Offered no apology. He was upset. I called to speak to a manager(none were available) and I was offered 20% off. We will not be back.

I received a back facial and a pedicure and my son received a signature facial and barber cut. The service was beyond excellent. The back facial was by far the best spa experience I have ever had. The Jean Paul Spa room is very relaxing and comfortable. My son loved his hair cut (Bret) and his skin was so soft after his facial. Shelby did both of our facials and she was excellent. My pedicure was perfect. My technician was Menuka and she took her time. It was not your average rushed typical pedicure. We will definitely be back.

This review is for Rachel who did hair and makeup for my wedding! She was INCREDIBLE! During my trial with her we had so much fun playing around and figuring out the right look, she was so easy to work with and happy to adjust anything I asked for. On the day she had 5 of us to style in total and I cant applaud her speed and talent enough! I had brought butterflys and flowers that she magically threw together in the most beautiful arrangements for our hair, and Rachels energy was so wonderfully joyful to have on my wedding day! This was my first visit to the salon and Amy was my stylist. She did a beautiful pixie razor cut on my hair. This is a skill that not all stylists have especially with such precision. Booked a nail appointment a week in advance, called one hour before the appointment because the nail tech called out. Its an hour away. Had to turn around and come back. They tried to offer another location at 11. Nope. How about the location I booked a week ago?? Im sorry, but these places need to step it up.

I was secretly thinking of picking up a box of Just for Men but thought better, and asked my stylist about coloring my eyebrows...Introduced to Gigi ~ and wonders of wonders, was talked into having not only my brows done but tinting and perming my eyelashes...Absolutely, positively freakin amazing. What a difference! I feel like a million bucks (not that easy when youre 68), woke up this morning to my eyes done.Fab service, fab tech. Im sold!

I had been a devoted client of Katies a few years ago but had stopped going for various reasons after the pandemic hit. I returned just yesterday and I am so happy to be back in Katies amazingly talented hands! She is the best stylist I have ever gone to (as well as one of the kindest people you will ever meet) and thats saying a lot since I have tried several salons in the area over the past 20 years. Also, the salon has been completely renovated since my last visit and it looks absolutely gorgeous!

I have been going to Jean Paul for 20+ years and when my regular stylist was out, I got an appointment with Shayna and was amazed at her skill. Shayna not only gave me an amazing cut, but my color never looked better. Shayna offers counsel on the right products to keep your hair looking healthy between appointments and she is an expert with fine hair....I just cant say enough about Shaynas expertise.

Katie is smart and pays acute attention to what I want. She is also warm and down-to-earth.She understands that even us seniors like to look “hip “.
