Salon 109 Spa & Hair Design

This is first time I visited salon 109. Jan did a great job coloring and cutting my hair! She knows what she is doing and was very efficient. Love the fact that they are open on the weekend. Will definitely go back again.

Had a really bad experience, asked for chest, stomach, and, entire back wax. Service took 3 and half hours, and I still have stray hairs on my chest, stomach and back. For reference, this was my second time getting the same areas waxed. The first place I went to took an hour and I was significantly happier with their service. The tech was new which isn’t the end of the world but asking for a service that took almost half a work day is absolutely ridiculous. Maybe when the tech gets into a routine that works best for them maybe there’ll be a smoother service. However, I don’t think I’ll be going back anytime soon for any service.

This is way overdue, but Jan did an excellent job with my hair for my 11.14.21 wedding! I originally did a trial with another stylist who ended up leaving before my wedding date and I live a few hours away, so I wasnt able to do another trial with her before the day came. However, she managed bring my vision to life (and my wedding party as well) and I was so happy with how it turned out. Highly recommend!

Jan was a lifesaver today. I went in for some help fixing my roots and she blended the tones beautifully. Shes so good with blonde hair, I will definitely be going back to her from now on. I really enjoyed her company and she even gave me a glass of wine. My visit was $140 which is MUCH more affordable than the only other salon in the downtown neighborhood. This place is not pretentious at all. 😊🤗

Called for a walk-in during a quick middle-of-the-week trip to Albany and discovered Jan who was able to quickly fit me in for a cut and brow shaping. One of the best cuts Ive ever recieved, and I was in and out in less than 45 minutes. She asked questions about how I liked it and then delivered beautifully.Friendly service and fantastic cut. Would absolutely recommend!

Wow! I had a cut & color done by Carrie Strong as well as a CND shellac mani and regular pedi AND she waxed my brows. She is fantastic! I was amazed at her skills and am completely thrilled to have found this salon and to have been assigned Carrie to do all the services. Highly recommend Carrie and this salon! The staff are super friendly and make you feel completely at home. Had a wonderful experience getting a manicure and pedicure with Carrie. The staff were friendly and easy to talk to. Services for men and women are available. Ill be back to get my nails done again soon.

Excellent and extremely friendly place. Jan gave my 9yr old son a perm. While we were waiting on perm she shaped up my 11yr olds hair too. She does excellent work! I wasn’t sure how it was going to look but very happy with outcome. Jan also answered all of the questions I had about maintenance on the perm to keeping it looking good. Very highly recommended

Whenever I go to visit Jan makes me feel like a queen. She is a gifted hairdresser and takes care of her customers. Since I have been seeing Jan, I have had more compliments on my “beautiful hair” than I ever had in my life! She also recommends the the best products. My hair feels so healthy!

Jan was great! She took great care of my feet and brows! She was fast and friendly, and she finished everything during my short 30 minute lunch break. Thank you Jan Ill definitely go back.

Ive been going to Salon 109 for a few years, and Ashley always does such a fantastic job. She always manages to do my hair exactly like I want, and she explains what she is doing so I understand the process. She always exceeds my expectations, and I couldnt be more pleased. Everyone at the salon is very nice.

This was close to the worst haircut of my life. I went in for a curly cut but the woman who cut my hair, who I believe is the owner, had no idea what she was doing. She started it by lightly shampooing and conditioning my hair and proceeded to dry it with a rough towel. She then lightly sprayed a deva product on there - she didn’t mention the name of it - and began the cut. After a few minutes of removing an inch from places at random and doing no face framing the haircut was “done”. My hair was still wet and my curls were completely a mess because the stylist kept breaking up my ringlets with her fingers during the cut. She didn’t dry my hair at all before asking me what I thought. I was honest and let her know I couldn’t really get an idea of what it looked like since it was wet. She then dried it for a minute and asked what I thought. Again, still wet so I didn’t know what it would look like after my curls dried. She put me under the seated dryer with no clips and no product which with curls = flat, frizzy mess. I decided this was an absolute waste of my time and money. They tried to charge me $60 for the cut. I gave them $20 and left. I now have frizzy hair with -at least - the dead ends gone, chunky bangs that look ridiculous, and no shaping at all. Don’t go here. It’s overpriced and not worth it and definitely not a “spa”.

I DEFINITELY recommend this salon for anyone who wants to try something new to their hair or just something simple. Carrie was my hairstylist and she was very attentive when I explained how I wanted my hair. I had previous trouble with hair stylists in the past so its a bit hard to trust someone new at first but she delivered. She asked questions and made sure I was okay with every little thing she did. She gave me the haircut of my dreams. Thank you Carrie. Amazing service.

I cannot say enough about Salon 109! They did my hair and nails for when I graduated college back in 2017 and I knew they have to be my go to for my bridal hair and nails. The team is so sweet and professional. The mani/pedi I got 2 days prior to the wedding stayed intact so no chipped nails the day of. The morning of my wedding (June 4th 2022) the stylists came to the venue and did a yeoman’s job, even doing hair for three extra people. They went above and beyond at probably one of the busiest months of the year (graduations, weddings, proms) and were fun and personable when I could imagine how tired they might have been. They made this bride and her bridal party very happy. Couldn’t have asked for better!

Salon 109 has been my go to place for the past 5 months. That might not sound like a lot of time but before going here I literally had the same hair stylist since I was born! I made a drastic change from a long ponytail, always pulled back, to a short styled cut, and thanks to Carrie I have felt very happy and confident each time I left the salon. She is so attentive to what I want and has literally learned my hair, I couldn’t ask for better experience. I recommend Carrie and this salon to every person that asks.

Justin was absolutely AMAZING he makes a great cup of coffee, and knows what hes doing! Im absolutely in love with my new haircut. I had super long hair he gave me amazing volume and knew just what to do to make my hair feel brand new healthy and bouncy without adding a bunch of product. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED he and the entire staff were all great!

Wanted to do an oil slick color, but didnt want my whole head. Brittany was awesome and gave me exactly what I wanted. Stripped my brown hair as carefully as she could to keep the integrity intact, and then colored away for my peek-a-boo color! I love love love it and would totally recommend stopping in to salon 109 for your next routine... or experimental hair appointment!

I was in Albany on business about a month ago, and I went into Salon 109 to have my hair cut and colored. I believe it was Karen who did my hair, and she was awesome. She listened to exactly what I wanted, and I was more than happy with the work she did. Also, I told her that I abuse my hair with a flat iron because I can never blow dry my hair as nicely as a hairstylist does. As a result, I have terrible split ends and my hair color never lasts. She showed me how to blow dry my hair and gave me great tips. I havent touched my flat iron since! My hair still looks great a month later. If Im ever in Albany again, I will definitely go to Salon 109, and I would definitely recommend this salon.

I got my hair cut by Dory, she was so kind and she did an amazing job with my hair. I got a simple wash and cut because my hair was dry and damaged at the ends from split ends and the fact that I didn’t cut it in over two years. She didn’t cut too much/little or do her own thing she did exactly what I wanted and it came out wonderful. They were also following all COVID procedures which was good to see.

Best salon experience Ive had in my life! I was just passing through Albany but I was treated like royalty. Danielle was able to schedule me last minute for an emergency appointment. David was able to perform magic on my damaged hair. I thought Id need to cut it short, but he was able to rescue it without cutting anything off! Everyone in the salon was extemely helpful, especially Justin!! I walked out of that salon feeling like a queen and I thank you all!

This salon gave me the best experience Ive ever had! I had gone in to get my hair done at the beginning of January, and I still look in the mirror and cant believe how great my hair looks. I called to make an appointment for a consultation, I just wanted to get a price estimate before going through with it. I was lucky with my timing, as it was relatively slow when I arrived. Carrie helped me during my consultation, and I explained what I wanted done (a balayage into an ombre then a trim with layers put in). She took the time to look at the pictures I showed her of what I liked, and talked me through the process of what would have to happen to get the results I wanted. She gave me price range on how much the whole thing would cost, which turned out to be very accurate. As I said before, it was relatively slow, so she was able to do my hair right away. The whole process took about 4 hours, but it was worth it. I am absolutely in love with how my hair looks now. The ombre didnt come out as blonde as I had originally wanted, but Carrie had explained that any longer would have damaged my hair. I am very thankful that she ended the process early to protect my hair from damage. I felt that this spoke to her level of professionalism and knowledge. I would much rather have healthy hair thats not as blonde, than damaged hair. Irregardless, I love how it turned out! I was so pleased with how I was treated while I was there, all of the staff were very nice, polite, and professional. I plan to return in the future for any cuts and/or coloring! I would definitely recommend getting your hair done at this place!

I love my new hair color!! Ashley S, truly performed a miracle. I have not used a new hairstylist in 20 years before I found Salon 90. Thank goodness I did. Change is a good thing.

I came in yesterday for a bridal hair trial with Dory and she did an amazing job! I can’t wait for her to work her magic on my wedding day. I’d highly recommend her and Salon 109.

My hair was in a bad state they did a pretty good job. Definitely not the best I ever had. But the price was a joke I paid more then 250 for a cut and some highlights. They did in about an hour and a half.

They really know how to make you feel welcome as a guest. Ive been there twice now, both times my hair looked absolutely beautiful. They offer drinks as you wait for your appointment, and the staff are extremely friendly. Highly recommend this place.

I have been folliwing Mary Beckman around for many years. Her Salon 109 is beautiful, the staff and services are wonderful and reasonable. Mary keeps me beautiful and my nails are gorgeous. Facials and massages also available.

I had an amazing massage with Scott Horst today. He makes me almost wish I lived here.. thank you Scott.. you delivered the exact massage I needed. I give you two thumbs up and 5 stars. I may be back tomorrow. I’m definitely sending you my dad..

I will never go back to this place their prices are ridiculous.. I was satisfied with the high lights .But i had to tell her how to blow my hair out. I never in my life spend Hollywood prices on my hair 269$$ ..I will continue going to the Dominicans much cheaper.

Ive beening going here for almost a year now and have always been thrilled with the results from David. The prices are very reasonable and youll get the same quality experience that you would have from a more expensive salon; from customer service to your final results. 10/10

Ive been going to hair Mare (Mary) since I was 3, shes the best!! Everyone is so nice and friendly.

Was not satisfied paid over 200$ and left with wet hair ....my stylist was a half hr late .....and stood there for 4 hrs and all that got done was my hair became darker than before and a few highlights....would not go back ! HIGHLY DISSAPPOINTED !!!!!
