Bartender/staff will just skip songs they dont like after you paid for the jukebox selection so better make sure your music agrees with their taste. Honestly why even have a jukebox. Pretty unwelcoming environment! Luckily the other patrons were welcoming.
Everything was wonderful except a lady named Kayla. She was terrible and super rude. She yelled at the door person because I said hi. I was in my work clothes and Kayla thought I “didn’t belong”. To top it off Kayla asked for a $20 cover, luckily the normal bouncer saw me and greeted me like a normal human. I paid my $5 cover and enjoyed my time. The drag show was a huge bonus!
Evenyone in rocks bar is cool but Ask London, about rocks and her targets since she likes to Represent everybody in Albany, Since She’s the ambassador. But not even from Albany. Just nasty!!
Visiting the area and had been walking around for a couple of hours so naturally I had a giant 1.5L plastic water bottle. Came in at about 4pm with 3 other friends to break up the walking and have a few drinks. Bartender told me I couldnt have the water, which is fine, so I immediately said no problem because I dont need to drink it inside and that I didnt mind leaving it in his sight on the edge of the bar. Keep in mind there weere maaaaybe 5 people in the bar at the time. He replied saying how does he know if its vodka inside.. again, its a rather large bottle to be carrying around booze in during the middle of the day. I stated again that its just water and I can leave it on the bar or he can keep it behind the bar, didnt really care to throw it away. I didnt intend on drinking any of it at all because we came to drink actual alcohol. This man fixed his lips to tell me that I can hide it outside and come back in without it. This is my first experience with a gay bar in Albany. Not that my money matters much in this situation, clearly, but if I ever come back I absolutely wont go back to this place. This really just didnt make sense and rubbed me the wrong way. I would think the place would be a bit more welcoming/ accommodating.
I had tickets to an event here through an outside promoter. The event was cancelled and I had trouble getting a refund from the promoter, but once I contacted Rocks, they were an amazing help and were able to contact the promoter and get me the refund. Really kind and helpful.
Glad I was able to make it to Rocks one last time. The staff and owners were always welcoming and friendly, and the comradery I felt from the patrons was undeniable. From Sunday cookouts, to Karaoke (my regret was never actually doing Karaoke) to the Albany Bear events, this place always had something going on.On my final outing I stumbled on their Bear Albany event, and Im glad I did. If there was ever a way to go out, this was it. It was a complete blast- from the music, to the people, to the overall jubilation of the place. Couldnt have wanted it any other way.For anyone looking to hang out, have a few beverages and have actual conversations with people, this is the place to be. Thank you for the memories and always making me feel welcomed. And just wondering, have you seen a pair of Ray-Ban aviator glasses, which I left on the bar around fall of 2017...?😜
Drinks were good, bartender was great but some of the folks who were hanging out there made us pretty uncomfortableNew to the area and trying to find gay/queer bars. Not sure if this one was for us
My friends and I were very impressed with our first time at ROCKS. After having an issue getting into Waterworks with a real ID, and calling the police, we gave ROCKS a try. Thankfully we did. The bartenders were very friendly, the bathroom facilities are clean and the locks on the doors work, and they have touch tunes. We are 100% going back!
Great place to meet new friends and enjoy time with those you already know. Very casual and welcoming. Music good, too I wish I was younger so I could take full advantage of all they offer... especially dancing. Stay happy and healthy.
Was there for the first time tonight. Ok, I got to see a fight brought on by past relationship issues, but the bouncers/staff handled it well. All offending parties were removed. Other than that, a very mellow and accepting atmosphere. Very inclusive. Not as cliquy as its gay neighbor across the road. Met some nice people. Enjoyable, even in this post Covid atmosphere. Gonna make this my new spot
I was there on a Tuesday for trivia night. Bartender was very friendly, customers at least that night were awesome. Id go back
Friend is almost singlehandedly trying to keep the punk scene in albany alive at this place, then gets negative reviews for requiring a covid vaccine to get in. cope harder chuds
Horrible music ... rude bouncer for a place that has to retain customers as not a lot of people go.Tried twice and same experience. Save your money and try somewhere else.
Rocks is good where it is truly important to be good - service. The decor is horrible, the drink selections are awful, but the service is good, so I can still go there in good conscience.
They do a lot for the community and treat me very well. Robbie is an excellent manager.
Inclusive, eclectic crowd, best dance space, great bartenders, nice patio space, karaoke Fridays, and Geek & Gaymer night every Thursday
It used to be a great place. Now it is overpriced, crazy door fees and empty. Never again.
Great staff. Amazing parties. Dont miss The EGOPARTIES, the first Saturday of every month!
Great dive style bar. Dragged Wednesdays are lots of fun.
Had a great night out with friends, would come again!
My home away from home! Everyone is lovely, I feel welcome and part of a wonderful community xox
The hottest bartenders and the owner would give you his shirt off his Back
