I had so much fun here!! Went to watch the season finale of Ru paul drag race. The drinks tasted great. They had a few specials for the day and they were all great. The atmosphere on the inside is super cool and moody. The service was great as well everyone who worked there was very friendly. Overall I loved it and would highly recommend going if you want a fun neighborhood bar. Ella Rex had a live drag performance it was everything!
Honestly the most dive bar of dive bars in the best way, and absolutely somehow both chill and lively with your complete choice to pick which vibe to pursue there. Attentive bartenders, great drinks, nothing fancy, sadly no food but theyre cool if you bring in your own. Karaoke, dancing if you want, smoking on the patio space, its perfect in what it is. Parking is a nightmare, but thats EAV in general so plan accordinglyAlso, as the photos suggest, the decor is ON POINT
This is the best queer bar I’ve ever been too. Period. With 3 distinct areas (main bar, upstairs, and back patio) there are plenty of cool places to chill with friends. The drinks are well priced, the staff is excellent, and the staff is more than willing to throw on some gay videos to help make this an amazing queer dive bar.If you want a more low key queer bar than MSR or Blake’s this is the bar to go to!I recently moved out of town for work and I’m already missing this bar 💙💙
Amazing place. Have only been once but it made my trip to atlanta. Super cool gay bar with a great mixed (not just gay men in button ups) crowd. Loved the music and everyone i talked to was awesome.
Not Black friendly. Highly recommend finding another bar if you are black. Came with two friends who were not in my ethnicity, and they were let through and was immediately stopped and question beyond repair just because I was coming in. If you are black and looking for a good time, I highly do not recommend you go to this place let this be for them. Super embarrassing do not recommend
People take themselves too seriously. For those who don’t, there’s Mary’s. Hole in the wall establishment with a local and loyal clientele. It’s a bar with generous drinks and honest pours. The people are friendly and I felt incredibly welcome. Definitely go and check this out if you’re nearby. Saturday karaoke was fun and the host was a crowd pleaser.
Mary’s is EVERYTHING !! Karaoke on Wednesday nights, Saturday with my favorites Chris and Lewis—as well as the collection of EAV’s loyal patrons gives the best vibes every single time. This dive bar is one of a kind and is ran with respect and appreciation. Thank you for providing a continuous space that is safe & fun for all :)
Mary’s is truly one of the best bars in the city. From packed out karaoke nights to drag shows featuring entertainers from all over Atlanta (and beyond!) to just a fun night out dancing, I can’t think of a better place to be. The staff is SO friendly and caring - Lindsey once walked me back to my car so I wouldn’t be going alone after dark! I love Mary’s so much that my only plan for my birthday was to go there.
Marys is, without a doubt, in my personal opinion, THE Atlanta queer bar. As a local transfemme, Marys is the one place I know I can go out to, enjoy myself, and not receive any judgement. The staff are nothing short of amazing, almost all of the bartenders know my name, know that Im sober, and go out of their way to provide me with fun, non-alcoholic options or just a Sprite. And Im not even that much of a regular! The variety in their regular weekday schedule of events like drag shows, karaoke, and more is nothing short of amazing, and gives everyone in the community something to do or see.Ultimately, Marys is home away from home for myself and my friends, and Id not have it any other way.
My go-to neighborhood queer bar! Im originally from San Francisco area and this place made me feel at home oh so many years ago. Its like the island of misfit toys, and I love it and them! The staff is fantastic! I go a lot for karaoke or really any old time. Its definitely an everybody bar! Ive always felt safe and even had some help when an out of town creeper wouldnt take the hint. Whether its to hang out, sing, dance, or see a fabulous drag show... Marys is definitely the best queer bar in Atlanta!
I always have a great time when I go but I notice they never have anyone watching the back door. Thus, I always see people without the wrist bands on come inside from the back and I just paid my $5 at the front lolAlso, I went last night and I was verbally assaulted by a homeless man outside in the unguarded back and he touched me and no one that is a part of the staff came to me and apologized to me or anything. They just kept passing me by…I know they saw me get verbally assaulted because they addressed the situation. I would suggest them having someone at the back door as well. We’re in Atlanta and it’s needed
The bartender was very nice and the drinks came out fast and tasted very good. But then there was the show that should’ve come with a trigger warning because one of the performers mid song became covered in BLOOD and was shaking her head like she’s possessed or having a seizure. The blood really ruined our evening, it was everywhere. It looked like she cut her own throat or her veins and was in pain. It was very upsetting and disturbing to say the least. Horrible scene. We came to have fun but got traumatized instead.
Been coming here for years and love the staff, the atmosphere, and the community. A neighborhood staple for any cool queers in EAV
I had an amazing first time! My favorite atmosphere so far of all the gay bars Ive been to. So homey and family likeEdit for 4 years later: Ive been coming to this bar for 4 years now and never could I have anticipated that it and many of the staff and patrons would mean SO much to me. From just coming to shows and seeing next level drag you cant get anywhere else, to best karaoke nights and just to chill. Marys is like no other. Truly. And look! I now have had the honor of not only performing here but working here! Little queer me from 4 years ago wouldve never guessed this would happen and a long the way I have met the VERY best people. I feel so welcomed and safe here and I can truly call these people family
I come here for karaoke on Wednesday nights. Ive been to a few places around the city and so far this is my favorite for singing. Public speaking is the number one fear in America so public singing has got to be right up there. Marys does a great job of making the atmosphere comfortable to sing in. Theres never any heckling and even the bartenders sing! Its a gay bar, but totally welcoming to respectful str8s. Theres a vending machine full of romance novels and crop tops. Also a $5 photo booth thats super cute. Come on out gaybies!! If you need a little liquid courage try one of the drinks. Theyre extra strong so pace yourselves 💕💕💕
Marys is such a warm, inclusive environment! Ive shown up dressed to the nines for drag shows and shown up in yoga pants and a t-shirt on a Thursday night and Ive always felt so welcome. The patrons are friendly (and gorgeous) and the bartenders (especially Lindsey) are TOP NOTCH. This is a lovely little haven for our fabulous LGBTQIA family. Definitely go check them out!
Bartender was amazing! Great music great atmosphere. We definitely enjoyed ourselves!
Not only is this a wonderful safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community but its also one of the most supportive places I have ever hung out. They have a full bar, sure, but they also have a wonderful Mocktail menu for those of us who arent drinking. Lindsey, has created some beautiful flavors which is great for if youre staying sober to DD or just dont want to drink. Maryoake on Wednesdays is a blast and there are always fun drag shows and other events on the weekends. I have seen so many amazing drag performers get their start at GLITZ and its so wonderful to see them grow into headliners!
Took out of town friends to Marys last night for a drink.Show was greatPerformers were excellentThat white guy running the show, in the tank top, at the top of the stairs, was the most abusive, rude, threatening, unprofessional , immature, embarrassment of a human. Whoever gave him any authority and a job seriously needs to reconsider their decision. He literally yelled at the top of his lungs that he hated every patron and threatened physical violence with multiple people. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE.I will literally encourage every person I know to boycott this bar until a public apology is made.
Mary’s is like a home away from home for so many queer people in Atlanta. This space offers amazing drag, fun karaoke, and great service from friendly bartenders like Lindsey, Lewis, Josh, and Grayson. I really love this place and it’s energy with all of my heart and highly recommend visiting if you’re in the mood to be surrounded by friendly queer folks.
This place is excellent! Ive been there recently for a few karaoke nights and absolutely enjoyed myself. Above all else I felt safe and welcome. Consistently one of my favorite lgbtq bars in Atlanta.
This is my favorite queer bar in the whole city! The bartenders are basically my friends now, the drag shows are amazing and karaoke is a tradition amongst my friends. This is the welcoming, happy queer bar that all us rainbow bbs dream of ❤️
We were looking forward to going to the Octopus Bar. Unfortunately, they were no where to be found the day before Thanksgiving. Fortunately we heard karaoke and found this gem. Definitely a dive bar but that’s what I loved about it. Everyone was so nice and helpful! The drinks and fun were flowing all night. Looking forward to heading back. Also there’s a tabletop area add PAC Man game that enjoyed. It was a nice surprise.
I love this bar! Super amazing friendly place for everyone! As a Trans Woman I always feel comfortable and safe walking in the door. Also drag every Thursday and every show is AMAZINGGG! The entire staff is so welcoming and friendly. Definitely have an amazing time everytime I go. ❤️❤️
Easily my favorite gay bar. The crowd is diverse and friendly. The drinks are strong. The drag queens and bartenders are fun and beloved. Its a place where all are welcome to come as they are.
Funky alternative shabby chic QUEER bar with killer music and visuals. Staff was awesome and super HOT!
I have been coming to Marys for almost 10 years now and Ive developed some really great friendships here along the way. You really can forget about life and have the best fun youve ever had here. The staff and the people are what give Marys its integrity and inclusiveness.
Literally the best bar in Atlanta! Marys is a queer paradise unique from all the gay bars in ATL that are just full of cis white gay men. The staff has always made me feel truly welcomed plus they have the best drag shows and play the best music. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Went here last night for the first time and the staff is super friendly and amazing especially lewis! They went above beyond helping my friend when she was throwing up definitely recommend
I LOVE mary’s !! it has been my personal favorite queer space in ATL! The staff are very friendly and hospitable, and the alternative queer vibe is unprecedented from most queer spaces in Atlanta. Definitely come for Karaoke on Wednesdays, Drag on Thursdays, and their Friday night dance party “QueerBait”!
My favorite bar in Atlanta—a perfect night out on a Saturday in the city always includes karaoke at Marys! Also, satisfying the drunchies at the nearby Cookout afterwards is the closest thing to a spiritual experience youll ever have.
I love Mary’s! I am so happy that the management has decided to keep all of their patrons safe by requiring proof of COVID Vaccination for entry. Mary’s is one of the best Queer bars/spaces in all of ATL; the atmosphere, vibes, and great music can’t be matched.
Inviting and dedicated staff. Excellent bartenders and drinks. Karaoke on Wednesdays, Drag shows every Thursday featuring local talent, and dance parties every Friday.
I love my neighborhood bar. I’ve been coming to Mary’s for about 4 years now. Great atmosphere, great bartenders, good times. Best gay dive bar ever.
The most inclusive and accepting gay bar in Atlanta other than My Sisters Room. A wonderful place that hosts Drag Shows, Karaoke nights and seriously the nicest wait staff and reasonably priced drinks in ATL and in EAV. 5 Stars all day errday.
We love Mary’s! Swette is the BEST and sweetest bartender in the city! Go see the amazing people there. It’s fun, drinks are great, love the staff and the music and drag shows!!
Hands down my favorite gay bar in Atlanta. welcoming, and not pretentious. the staff are sweethearts, and Im always going to find someone I know there and meet someone I dont 🖤
If youre looking for a bar that is the antithesis of the Midtown gay scene, Marys is one of your best contenders. At its core, its a neighborhood bar that has a range of theme nights (karaoke night, movie night, etc). For their parties they keep the dj rotation fresh, so unless you know what the party is specifically that theyre having that night, you never really know what kind of music to expect. They got rid of smoking indoors in the weekends but still allow it during the week.
Everyone who works there is welcoming and sweet. Great atmosphere and music! Perfect for dancing or just chilling at the bar.
Love this queer and welcoming place. The staff here is always very helpful and accommodating. Not to mention has some of the best drag shows in the city. The decor and music has a current vibe that many queer spaces lack.
I REALLY WISH I COULD GIVE MARYS 0 STARS! I am going to speak from the persective of a queer, black organizer & performer in Atlanta... The staff of Marys has been rude to me every single time I go there! They have never made me feel safe or welcomed! There arent a lot of places for the LGBTQ community to go in Atlanta, so I have continued to support events here, but I am honestly at the point that I can never go back! I want to stress that I have never had any problems with profiling or discrimination at any other bar in Atlanta & Ive lived here my entire life & Im very involved with event planning. Over the years Ive heard transphobic remarks, racist remarks & plenty of comments from people in the community that they do not feel safe or welcomed there! This place functions as a bar & a bussiness, they are not about the community which-so-ever & I hope that eventually they go out of bussiness! Its also the worst bar to host a show because its also crowded & hard to see unless you are at the very front! Please save your money & support another bar or space, Marys is trash!
This place looks really awesome, however, I had to give 3 stars because I went with my bestie in a wheelchair and we could not even see what upstairs looked like. I found the owner and asked how we could get upstairs with a wheelchair and he said, You cant get upstairs with a wheelchair. And that was the end of that conversation....
So I wanted to buy a tee out of the vending machine. Unfortunately, they only take Visa/MasterCard. I had to cancel my MasterCard because of fraudulent activity while visiting Atlanta. I asked the bartender if I could give him 20 cash for a 15 dollar tee if you would purchase the tee for me. He was super offended and downright insulting. “No babe, I can’t do that,” said while brushing me away. They didn’t even think about it. A direct no and a push away. Like I’m trying to promote what looks like a dying bar.
The bartenders are extremely rude. Customer Service is a foreign concept. I will never return to this bar. There was an employee who was rude to the patrons as they were leaving rushing everyone so he could go home.Stay away until they get some decent employees who care about their customers.
I love Mary’s. Great, cozy dive bar with eccentric decorations and interesting patrons. The bartenders can be hit or miss sometimes. I wish they’d get another bathroom. The guy that runs kareoke is awful. Don’t bother putting in a song request. He can be bribed to play your song but with so many kareokespots around town what’s the point?
Super fun! It has a great crowd and really friendly atmosphere. Its very different from the judgmental pretty boys crowd you usually end up seeing at Ten or Blakes. Definitely recommended for the non pretentious types.
This Is Not a safe space for femmes or poc. I used the upstairs bathroom on a slow night, and the bartender used a key to bust in and scream at me violently while i was half naked and peeing. He then totally humiliated me in front of everyone when I came out by screaming in my face for 5 minutes straight, while I continuously tried to apologize. The bartender Matt is a giant tall white dude, who doesnt need to be screaming in the faces of small queer femmes. He has also silenced friends of mine who are queer people of color, when they were trying to use thier own emotional labor to explain why something he and his friend had done could be considered as oppressive. Instead of listening, he again, became violent, defensive, and angry. Saying I dont allow politics in my bar oh, but violent, oppressive, mysogynistic and racist behaviors are ok?? Ok..Again, until these behaviors are resolved, this is not a safe place.Ive heard of other complaints from friends as well, but they say if you speak up about anything, that they will deny your future entry into the bar. There are so very few decent gay and queer spaces in the city for dancing, so people are afraid to be heard, and thats not right.Someone should do something about the way he treats people. Its not ok.
I’ve been coming to Mary’s for a little over a year now and it’s so much fun! The drag shows are incredible, the drinks are great, and they have mocktails. :)go to mary’s!!!!
The bartender gave me water. not everyone does that
The Myth, The Legend: Marys in EAV!(A Narrative)Fearing to be too-on-the-nose with my initial metaphor - if but for decorums sake - the front glass is so tinted as to suggest that this landmark was unoccupied from the outside: Incorrect!Although a slow night, the establishment was filled with a vibrancy of life and energy, as indicated by the warm welcome from the bartender and his affirmation of the validity of my timorously ordered PBR.Lucio Fulci trailers were on the monitors; relevant house music - which nonetheless tastefully cited from both the Chicago and Detroit epochs- induced a rhythm to the occupants movements; old friends were met and flirtations tastefully exchanged.Top shelf! Thank you!
Was my first time their. Enjoyed the Karaoke and the crowed singing longer with the singer. The venue is somewhat tight. And the balcony level is awesome.
Would not return. Bartender was rude and unwelcoming. It took about 10min for him to take a drink order. Mind you it was only four people there. Website states they close around 2. My friend and I was sitting at the bar around 1230 they turned the lights on and said we close now.
This is the best gay bar in America.
I love Mary’s! It’s always welcoming and friendly. I’ve made some great friends there and the bar staff is fantastic!
Marys has everything Midtown gay bars are missing, great drinks, super friendly bartenders, the music you actually listen to, and parking!
Non pretentious crowd in EAV. The upstairs area is only open on the weekend. Outdoor smoking area off the parking lot. Monday Night draught beer is served.
One of my favorite queer spaces in Atlanta :’) Friendliest bar staff and such a great vibe always. So happy I discovered this happy lil corner of Atlanta
I’ve spent many, many evenings over the last 12+ years dancing and singing karaoke with friends here. Of all the places I’ve hung out in Atlanta this is one of my absolute favorites.
Bartenders are great, even though I dont drink, always friendly faces youll always make a friend.
I love this spot!! Staff is super friendly and looks out for their patrons. I always feel safe in this space.
Best drag bar in Atlanta to do some karaoke and get a good drink from some friendly staff.
They often have entertaining events. Friendly staff. No cover. Decent/good food like tacos, wings, fries, etc.
All of the bartenders are so nice and attentive. Especially Chris. I love it here!
Too dark to see anything, bartenders drinking behind bar, restroom has no hot water, impossible to find.
Best place in ATL to see Drag, do some karaoke and experience a friendly bar staff.
Very welcoming queer bar
I did not have a problem with the Bartender very nice guy....But $5 for a well...really just damn....
Hail Marys Full of Liquor and Grace. Shes your best bet for a fun filled Friday night.
Love this place! The staff is amazing and the drag keeps you going back!
Great place to chill, karaoke on Wednesdays
Had a great time here with some friends the other night
Cute, campy place, nice atmosphere. Love the drinks too!
Best bar around. Good vibes, comfortable and accepting

Gay bar. Disco music. Decent beer. Nice people.
I love this bar... it’s a totally safe, accepting space.
Went for a friends birthday party. Great fun. Nice people.
My absolute favorite bar!
Yes! Fun bar in a cool neighborhood.
Loved the montage of horror movies played on the screen! 😊
Great spot! Better than the midtown places!
Joshua is actually the best!!
I love the music here. DJs always on point!
Horrible place with the worst bartender in universe.
Great atmosphere great music etc
Best little queer bar in Atlanta.
