Great park with access to lake Travis. 8$ per person isnt bad at all and it allowed you to re enter and as well as entry to other Travis county parks. Yes it is clothing optional so keep that in mind. Gets deep pretty quickly but I still managed to find a spot near stairs 1 that was shallow enough for me to hang around all day.

An adventurous park for those willing to bear it all…or not. No need to feel out of place if you want to stay clothed, it’s usually a good mix of nude and clothed. People of all types intermingle and just relax and have fun. Plenty of space and most times free music from several sources or bring you own. It can be rocky and steep…shoes are almost required unless you’re stilling on your towel. I’d highly recommend this for a nice day away or staycation.

Update:Warning: June 27, 2024. Two Hispanic males were observed separately stalking a woman near staircase #8. Both individuals intentionally watched the woman as she undressed. One man removed his clothes and looked over the cliff before approaching her, seemingly to make small talk. The woman told both men to leave her alone. The other man kept his clothes on but stood there, staring at her. Please be vigilant and report this behavior to the rangers immediately if witnessed. My wife and I recently visited this really relaxing park. As other reviews have mentioned, everyone here is respectful and minds their own business. We found a great spot near the water and had a wonderful time. If you visit, I recommend bringing water shoes, tennis shoes, water, electrolytes, plenty of sunscreen, and a change of clothes.A word of caution for the guys: there are bass in the lake. One even bit my buttocks! Its a good idea to keep your private parts on a raft or float to avoid any surprises.

Clothes are required while in the parking lot headed down toward the lake but one you see the beautiful view your free to be free.

My fiancé and I came here for the first time today, and it was so lovely! People are very friendly and officers are around patrolling which helps keep people safe (they do not care if they see you naked, it is expected, dont worry). It is clothing optional, you are not at all required to be nude so just do what youre comfortable with, but if you are curious about it you should definitely try it! Everyone really just minds their own business so dont worry or feel self-conscious.The water today was the perfect temperature and cooled us off. Be sure to bring water shoes and a pair of tennis shoes for navigating the rocks in the water and on land. Also, if you see any trash its a good idea to pick it up. There are many birds and fish that live here.

One very important thing to know before you go, the path going towards the lake is VERY rocky so I strongly recommend keeping your shoes on until you reach the shore and wear water shoes before jumping in the water. There are points where the ground in the water just drops, so be aware.$8 per person, cash only. Long time nudists and curious adventurers will find a perfect place to let it all hang out and be one with nature.

Was my first time at a nudist park. I will say it is extremely rocky and very high up from the water. If you plan to go down the rocks and swim, I would say that water sports shoes are a must. Not the flimsy neoprene type water shoes, but the sport tennis shoe style that you can get wet. You will be literally rock climbing to get down to the water and back up, so just know you need a certain fitness level to get down there. All of my muscles are still sore a few days later. Once you get in the water, the shoreline is made up of large, unsteady rocks that constantly shift below your weight. Be ready for sudden movement of the rocks out from under you and sudden drop-offs. Within 7 feet of the shore, you can not touch the bottom, so we stayed really close to the shore. The park itself was beautiful, I wish I had taken a picture. I took my top off but kept my bottoms on. I only saw one other fellow woman topless while I was there. There was some old dude in an inner tube watching my friend and I the whole time we were in the water, and when we got back to the top where our stuff was, I noticed that there were two other creepy dudes that kept walking by multiple times, and stopping and staring at me for extended lengths of time for no reason. Idk why, I was expecting that people at a nudist park would be less creepy and less thirsty, but I guess thats not the parks fault and they probably dont have a way of policing that. Boats often come trawling or drifting slowly by. The toilets are open, a bit like prison toilets. There are no showers from what we could see, at least not at the little bathroom building near where we were, but we didnt seek them out so maybe they have some in another part of the park. We went during the week so there was plenty of parking. It was beautiful, fun, and freeing, in spite of the 3 gawkers, and I would go again.

Great place! 18+ only. Clothing optional, however, the majority were naked. So, if nudity isnt your thing, this place might not be for you! $15 entry fee per car. The ticket allows you entry to other sections of the lake for the day. I believe the parks are open 9am- til dusk. Drinking is permitted but may not be in glass bottles and must be covered. No life guard on duty, so be cautious of that. Be sure to wear good walking shoes as its a bit of a hike/climb down to the lake! I had no issues with pervs. Even while by myself. Everyone was friendly! Once you get over the initial shock of seeing and being seen, it feels completely natural. However, you can report lewd behavior to the police. I personally only saw one guard, and he was in the parking lot haha. I have read multiple reports of people being arrested, so definitely dont risk hanky-panky here. Only complaint would be the litter. It kind of took away from the charm. Although,I dont blame the park for lazy adults not cleaning up after themselves!!! If you bring your usual lake/beach material, and an open mind, youll have a great time. Will definitely be back! :)

The turn sneaks up on you if you arent watching for it. Also, they only accept cash or check at the entrance for a pass. Come on a day with moderate overcast for perfect solace. There are two trails/ paths. Dont take the left one that goes up along the mountain if you have issues with cedar. That path is full of the stuff. The path on the right next to the service entrance gate l follows the coastline by the water. There are also restrooms along the path (thank gawd). To get close to the water I think #8 is the best stairway to take along the trail.

First let me say if you are looking for a beach this may not be the place for you. The park is almost all large rock all the way to the water. With that said it is still very enjoyable without the worry of sand getting where it shouldnt. Beware that much of the area will resemble rock climbing which is an unusual experience when you are nude to say the least. As others have mentioned i would highly suggest wearing some decent water safe shoes that provide protection for your feet as well as good grip. The lake itself is some of the clearest water I have ever seen in a lake or river. There is a very nice and wide paved walkway that runs almost the entire way through the park with a couple of restrooms along the way. The restrooms stalls do not have doors but this really isnt the place for those that are shy anyway I guess.Overall I really enjoyed my visit and loved the freedom of enjoying nature au naturel while also feeling safe in the company of like minded folks.

As advertised, its for 18 years and older and is a rocky beach park with access to the lake. There is a strong police presence and a paved trail that wraps around the park with numbered staircases down to the beach. There is consistent boat traffic right past the buoys, which has the added benefit of providing some slight movement and waves to what could be a stagnant waterfront. On the weekday in July that I visited, the water was clear and refreshing, but not cold, and it wasnt very crowded before lunch. It started to fill up off of stairs 1-3 by lunchtime.

Staff Security is always watching and on guard to prevent any lewd acts or criminal michief. Water is clean and people leave you alone so this is a good place to go when you want to relax and be privately secluded while naked. Bathrooms are nearby, as well, and although the shore is rocky, the stairs going down and the rocks are pretty safe. Bring a big towel and/or fold out chair! The water level in Lake Travis is quite low. Theres a lot of climbing down to get to the water. With temps at 100 youll want to take frequent dips to cool off. My really big problem is the people who come to the park and remain clothed. They gawk and take phone pictures. This makes those of us who choose to enjoy the freedom uncomfortable. This park is beautiful with great views of the lake and the water is cool and clear. I wish people could just come enjoy the experience, this is one of very few legal clothing optional parks in the US.

I would give 5 stars but I had to take away 1 star because of the fully clothed Indian men who come to stare disrespectfully. Seven. I counted seven fully clothed men walking around and following people and not respecting personal space. I understand its a nude park and people will be nude and you cant very well walk around with your eyes closed, but park management knows exactly what sort of behavior Im talking about and I hope that something will be done about it. It completely ruins the experience.Otherwise, I noticed couples and small groups enjoying the lake view, sunbathing, and enjoying packed picnics. The nature is beautiful, the lake is gorgeous, the whole place is so scenic and lovely. But the creeps creepin have got to go.

This was my first experience at a clothing optional park and it was awesome! We went at 9am on a Sunday and there seemed to be a smaller crowd.-8$ per person to enter the park.-If the park closes due to reaching max capacity, you are still able to leave and come back as long as you have your parking pass.-You will likely be climbing down rocky terrain to set up your area.-Take water shoes because its rocky to get in/out the lake.-If its going to be really sunny, take some kind of beach umbrella because there arent too many trees along the shore where you would set your things.-Be aware, it may be difficult to carry a large cooler up and down the rocky area.-The bathroom stalls do not have doors.-There do seem to be more men than women, but I felt comfortable the entire time.I didnt want to leave and cant wait to go again.

Nice trail to reach any cove of your choosing. 1 bathroom at the entrance and a second in the middle. Majority of everyone is friendly and kind. It’s a nice place to come and relax alone or with friends. Food and drinks (alcoholic) are allowed, just no glass.

It Is an amazing park the only thing I will say is bring cash it cost 15 to get in a car fee and 5 dollar service fee. But so worth it. Ive only been once so far but was definitely worth it. Make sure you bring comfortable shoes since it is walking on rocks. We were under prepared I recommend bringing a cooler, something to float on, and something comfy to lay or sit on the rocks with. But its such a nice lake and beautiful walking path. I will definitely be going back. I love being able to be free in the skin I was born in. Wish I was more open and social would have loved to make friends with other people who love and live the nudist lifestyle. Also its a clothing optional beach.

We travel the country in our little car rig we have decked out and our 2 dogs travel with us. When we arrived at the gate there was only 40 minutes left till close( google said close at 8) they were closing at 5:30pm. This was our first time and we just wanted to check it out. They wouldn’t let us in because of the dogs, they can’t go in water and can’t stay in the car. Which makes this really difficult when there is no other place for them. It was only 65 degrees and they know the drill. We take such good care of them and they stay in the car with us everywhere we go. Sad we didn’t get to experience this cool spot while we were in Austin.

Over all it’s a pretty cool decent place. But you have to trek down in order to get the water 🤷🏻‍♀️ So I would say flip flops are not recommended. Oh and make sure to bring water shoes because those Zebra mussels show no mercy. Your feet will literally get torn to shreds if you’re not floating. One of the reasons I only gave two stars is because both days we went, there was the creepy guy with a vet cap 🧢 who was just lurking the whole time on both occasions which made it super uncomfortable.. He was literally peering through the trees 🙄 fully clothed

Nice place to get away from the crowds of families and children at other lake access spots! It’s a little rocky, but I really didn’t mind. It’s not a direct walk in beach type of park, so if you don’t wanna hike a short way down some rocks (or see some nudity) then you should pass on this place. However, I had a great time and will definitely be coming back! I just wish it was dog friendly, if it was I would definitely be a regular!

Full disclosure, I was originally kind of uncomfortable with the clothing optional situation over here. Power to the folks who enjoy swimming in their birthday suit without caring that its in public, but there is a reason they warn about the clothing optional feature of the park at the gates. So, if you are on the fence about visiting for this very reason, then my two cents is that, if you can mind your own business and keep your eyes off everyone else at the park, its worth it. The lake is beautiful. Its a rocky beach, so getting into the water and sitting on the rocks is quite the experience.

Super chill place when I was there. Yes, there are lots of naked people. Also, its not a beach, its a rocky shore line. Bring appropriate footwear. Also, bring sun screen. Dont bring the kids, 18+ only.As to the vibe, the ratio was about 4 guys to 1 girl. 90% of the people there were fully nude, 5% were mostly nude, and just a few were covered. Very diverse with many ethnicities represented, lots of body types, and some LGBTQ+ folks. Everyone was very respectful, friendly, and mostly minded their own business. It was very clear that anyone there to leer or be creepy was 100% not welcome. No obvious lewd behavior or even PDA between couples. For first timers. Come with the intention of getting free of those clothes! Dont feel bad if you need to keep something on, but make your best effort to join in as much as you can. As strange as it sounds, the people with clothes on are the odd ones out!Reasons to go: You want to experience the freedom of sunning and swimming in the buff in a unique and beautiful location.Reasons not to go: You just want to look at naked people. If you are not willing to join in, maybe this is not the place for you.

It was our first time at the park, and she made sure we understood the basic rules in a way that felt like we where talking to an old friend. The grounds are breathtaking, with the trail being a wonderful walk. My favorite part was resting besides the water on the rocky shore and just enjoying the freedom of being around so many people who dont judge, nor objectify you but rather simply enjoy the nature and freedom that comes with relaxing in your own skin. It is a must stop for me in any of my future trips to Austin.

Been to HH many, many times over the course of 45 years. HH is one of many parcels of land acquired in the 50s to dam the Colorado river and create reservoirs for water supply and hydro electric and flood control. In 1979, when we first visited, it had a small, gravel parking lot and various primitive trails through the woods to the rocky shore. There was no police presence, no gate or gate fee, and no rules. Supposedly 60s hippies lived out there. The waterfront at HH varies with the lake elevation. Lake Travis is a variable level lake. Some others in the chain of man-made lakes are constant level. So, when the lake is full or overfull the shoreline is very close to the treeline. When the lake is low theres a considerable climb down the rocks to the water.Weve seen the record high level and record low level. The primitive dirt trails have been replaced with staircases, handicap ramps, vault toilets and a paved interior road.HH is on Comanche Trail. Weve lived on the Trail and in the neighborhood 3 times over the years.

Beautiful views of Lake Travis, waters a comfortable temperature. Odds are youll see some people floating around naked in inner tubes, but not that many. Great park for hiking, swimming, sunbathing or just relaxing on a raft. Large area is buoyed off from boats so it is the safest place to swim on lake Travis without the worry of being hit by a boat or jet ski. The shore of the lake in this park is limestone rock. When the lake level is low it can be difficult to get to the water without rock climbing. Introduction of zebra mussels several years ago requires individuals to use caution when getting in and out of the water. The zebra mussels are very sharp and will easily cut your hands, feet or skin. Use of water shoes is highly encouraged, as well as watching where you sit or put your hands. Entrance fee is a bit pricey, at $8 per person. This park is the only public park in Texas where nudity is allowed, but only for those 18 or older. Pets and glass containers are prohibited.

Its a clothing optional, or completely nude Park. Is a great place to hang out and swim at the beautiful lake Travis.

BE CAREFUL LADIES!!I have been to hippie hollow twice. The first time i absolutely loved it, tons of friendly people and a great atmosphere to relax and swim. The second time I went honesty ruined it for me. While I was swimming with one of my friends, a man came up to me to inform me that he saw another man taking pictures of us on his cell phone. I kept an eye on the dude and about 20 minutes later I look up and the man was taking more pictures of us from across the bend. We made eye contact and he obviously jumped behind a tree to hide. I confronted him on the path, he just smirked and said youre trippin. I reported him, and I found out park rangers have been looking for him, because numerous people have complained about the same man. BE CAREFUL LADIES!So my thoughts of hippie hollow is that it is a great oasis for people to come and be there natural selves and enjoy nature. It is perverts like the man that I encountered that would not make me comfortable to ever come back. It is sad that a great place like hippie hollow has to be ruined by people who abuse the fact that it is a nude beach for their own sick pleasures.

What an interesting place! Lake Travis is absolutely beautiful. The whole setting is beautiful. Finding a place up in the trees on the side and relaxing all day is so much fun. Do not bring glass but alcohol seems to be ok as long as its discreet. It was an easy Uber here from downtown Austin. If you dont want to go down to the lake then just go to the Oasis and sit on the deck and look at the lake. Its just so nice. Be careful here if you dont like nudity. Its rampant 😂

Hippie Hollow is amazing. I cant post any pics ad theyre all nude. Great spot for sunbathing and having great convo with great people. It can get crowded but its worth the drive and time if you can readily access Austin.

Would be better if the beach wasnt quite so rocky, but having a public clothing optional park so close by is awesome. Ive been here a few times and have never encountered any disrespect or judgement. Im in decent shape, but Im no Adonis. Everyone is polite and friendly... Even the park rangers. I saw one sit and chat with a couple for 5 or 10 minutes explaining about the area, its history and clarifying the rules for them. It was all very casual and comfortable. Im sure that anyone who visits will at some point see someone attractive and think about what theyd like to do with them if they were alone. Thats human nature when theres a physical attraction. But from my experience it is definitely not the norm and I havent observed anyone there doing things to make anyone else uncomfortable.Everyone here just likes to be naked, myself included. Theres something uplifting about letting the world see you as you are. Its about being comfortable in your own skin. And it has helped me to not be so critical about myself. All of this seems to create something like a bond of commonality with everyone else... almost a sense of comradery. I am strictly gay but this mutual respect allows me to be comfortable with anyone who might settle in next to me and strike up conversation... It doesnt matter if its a hot guy, a woman or even an octogenarian. Theres a freedom of expression and a willingness not to hide behind our wardrobe of disguises that is shared... Something that you just cant generally experience elsewhere in public. If you decide to try it out for the first time and you arent comfortable, ease into it. No one is going to judge you if you never take your clothes off. When the anxiety wears off, do what feels comfortable for you. But consider that all of us are our own worst critics and that discomfort might be something that you are projecting from within. Each of us is beautiful, including you. The human body is an awe inspiring feat of graceful and balanced design. Be proud of yourself holistically open your mind and give yourself the freedom that comes with letting go of any shame you might be carrying.

Ive been going to Hippie Hollow since the early 80s. Its safe & clean with a view of Lake Travis. Its so relaxing with the sounds of water crashing on the rocks. If youre hungry, theres Oasis Cantina nearby.
