Not my type of bar, but my fiancee likes to come here as its more of a calmer bar with less anxiety. The guy at the door used to be in a band which is pretty cool, we played darts which were not bad but really close together so hard to play.
We went here after our daughters IU graduation after hearing her talk about it for a few years. Mike is the best at the front!! Bar backs are nice and attentive, making what you want. Drinks are good, and the atmosphere is perfect for a college bar!!
Took my ID for darts and when I went to give the darts back they lost my ID and couldnt find it anywhere. Completely screwed me considering I have to catch a flight tomorrow morning and all they could do is tell me to call back the next day. UPDATE They gave me 20 bucks and free pitcher of beer for the inconvenience. Better than nothing but still ruined my st. Pattys day weekend.
Hannah is an easy favorite, extremely cool spot for pool, darts, and a great vibe all around
I had a good experience until my girlfriend and her friends weren’t let in for no reason. They all had valid ID’s and even let the bouncer know their friends were inside. The bouncer Mike said “no they’re not” and refused to converse with them until I had to come to the front to prove they were meeting me. My girlfriend and her girlfriends felt discriminated against. Not a good look Mike.Besides bouncer issues, pretty well restricted for covid and bar tenders were great.
Amazing service, Sammy was a great bartender. Bouncer was to cautious, he refused my military ID and wanted 3 other forms of identification.
The bouncer is pretty rude. you feel kinda weird when he is not only checking the front page of your passport but then also goes through all of your visas. didnt know you need one to get into a bar:)other than that the bar is decent, we enjoyed playing pool there. but do sth abt the customer service, because it just spoils the impression at the entrance right away
The bouncer mike is terrible. Wouldn’t let someone in after being presented with a drivers license and a birth certificate.
Pretty good college bar! A surprising amount of space with a few bars, a TV screen room, lots of darts boards, and pool. Theyve got a lot of things to do while youre there and have a cool atmosphere. Pretty dirty, but overall a good experience.
Have always enjoyed going here! Great bartenders and nice pool tables. Mike is always nice to see when we go in.
Pretty good. There was little to no one there when we went, which was nice, though more people showed up as the night went on. They have darts to play, if you dont just want to stand around
The Vid continues to be one of my favorite bar hangouts in Bloomington. They don’t really have specials but their prices are reasonable. They have tons of seating and places to hang out. The bar tenders are attentive and properly staffed unlike brothers which had 2 bartenders for the entire lower level. I love the options of playing pool or darts or just sitting and chilling since there’s no pounding music. Definitely a fav place to go!
This place has really everything you want in a bar. 2 Pool areas with 6 and 2 pool tables, dart area with I think 6 dart boards has a main bar area that has a few booths. Has a dance hang out area. It is pretty cool and laid back college kid hangout. A lot of locals work here and some hang out here too. It has kinda gone main stream over the last few years but is still a cool bar to go to.
Good place for billiards / snookers and darts, bar tenders are great and very friendly. Its not as crowded as brothers so there is a lot of space to move around. The lighting is dim and it appears depressing. The tissue rolls in the restroom is not refilled on time. But these are the only two problems, other than That its a great place to hangout. Its also Next to tacos, so its a good place to sober up.
This is a really cool place to hangout. If you go on a Monday - Thursday evening its not as crowded as the weekends. Theres pool thats 50¢ per game (you can give the bartender cash and theyll give you quarters) and free darts. Ive been going here for a little over half a year, always have a good time.
This may be the bar that I have most frequented. They always have a good selection of standard beers and a few local ones that are rotated often. There are 7 pool tables and some dartboards which are always fun to use after grabbing a pitcher. I really love its vibe. Its not like some of the other college bars that are for dancing and taking shots, its a place you can go to chill and hang out with friends.
Good drink selection and prices, pool tables, darts, and televisions. It’s rather spacious but tends to get crowded on the weekends, and the type of crowd also depends on when you go. Bartenders are quick and friendly. It’s definitely one of my favorite B-Town bars.
The 80s band bouncer made up a rule that you can only have 4 people per pool section after our group of 5 bought a table and drinks. No sign posted. I think it gave him a sense of purpose though. That might be a plus.
If your name doesn’t end with Smith, then don’t visit this place. The bouncer is crazy, and the place is just blah! The bartenders are okay!
One of my favorite bars in Bloomington. I would consider this more of a townie bar with an older-than-freshman-college age range which is what i like. They have approx 8-10 pool tables, 5 dart boards, a basketball shooting game, a projector that plays movies/games, and good music playing. Pitchers are generally pretty cheap and always flowing.
Great place to shoot some pool or throw darts and have fun with your friends, and maybe meet some new ones. People always seem friendly here and the drink prices are reasonable.
The best place to play darts, shoot pool, and drink in Bloomington. Mike at the door knows whats up. The Vid is no longer playing The Cars non-stop over the stereo, but it remains a quintessential stop on any Bloomington pilgrimage.
Darts, pool, drinks. Not bad, absolutely nothing special. Takes forever to get a drink, bouncer doesnt seem to understand his job only gives him reason to feel as important as a Wal-Mart greeter, but Ive enjoyed it well enough to return.
Great bar downtown that doesnt get super crowded. Theres a great selection of beer and Mike was in a band on MTV! I will give 5 stars when they take a stance against the City of Bloomington banning vaping in public places.
The bouncer is an extremely racist person who was asking us questions about our visa. He was cosplaying a visa officer and asking us immigration questions - extremely rude and condescending. Never visit again
Best bar in Bloomington hands down. Great place with tons of room. Even when its busy its not too crowded because of how big the building is. Fun place to shoot pool or throw darts.
Door guy is a pretty rude, which is based on my experience over the course of a couple visits. With that being said, its still a pretty decent place to hang out and have a cold beer after work. If youve never been here, its definitely worth checking out.
Just a good bar up the stairs . A newer place with your bar standard bar go-tos. It has pool tables and a jukebox, and two bars with plenty of room. The staff is friendly and of course you get to hang with IU students. Also its located right on Walnut.
The best bar in town, it has its own feel and groove..it has snooker , dart and a pinball machine as well... if you visit, do ask for Jeremy!! He is the best bar tender!!
The vid would be a great place to hangout but the bouncer “Mike” is so rude and simple minded that it makes the bar not an enjoyable place. Will not come back as long as “Mike” is working there. He is also homophobic, it’s 2018 the Vid needs to get rid of this guy and his unwelcoming nature. I am completely unhappy with my my experience there and wish I could enjoy such a unique bar without judgement.
I would rate a negative but no option for that..Absolutely horrible! Old guy at the door like inspector gadget with a magnifying glass checking your ID... then taking your temperature just to enter! Cant drink and stand or they approach you and say you need to mask! Your doorman and workers are rude... #SHEEP #YOURBARSUCKS
Cant comment on the bar experience itself, but the doorman is an absolute joke whos apparently never seen an Ohio license before. Threatened to call the police on one of group for daring to be from out of state, despite checking the (completely valid) license over and over again and seeing all the very clear markings of a state-issued ID. We left rather than waste our time and the polices time. Ridiculous. If youre a younger out-of-stater, you might want to go elsewhere to avoid the hassle.Furthermore, throughout the entire conversation he was incredibly rude and condescending to all of us. Not a human who should ever be interacting with the public.
Cool and hip bar, plenty of rooms and activities too. some drinks were $10, though, which is unfortunate.
This is not the classiest establishment but its lackluster appearance is made up for by its unique character and charm. This bar is never packed to the brim and you can almost always get a dart boards or pool tables.
I will never return to The Vid again. My friends and I went out for my friend and his twins 21st birthday. The doorman (Mike) informed my friend and his twin that their IDs were clearly fake and gave them the option to leave with their IDs or try to get in and have to cops called. My friends chose to stay since their IDs were real. We all waited at the entrance for the cops to arrive and stayed there while the officers ran the licenses. Once the cops arrived he was trying to convince the officer that the IDs were fake. He was overall rude about the whole situation. Lo and behold the IDs came back real and me and my friends (about 10 total) all left the establishment. Mike was rude to us during the endeavor and attempting to convince the officers of one thing instead of just letting them do their job. Overall, the poor treatment my friends received from Mike has ensured that I will not be bringing my business to The Vid in the future.
Dont come here if you have an out of state ID. They threatened to call the police on my cousin (who is over 21)for having an Ohio ID and they thought it was fake (it wasnt). Its just an out of state ID! Terrible experience and thankfully ALL other bars were more accommodating. Our entire group left, and wont be coming back.
Used to like the Vid years ago, so went back here a few months ago. Some things have definitely changed from the last reviews. Stopped being a cash-only bar for one, and while obviously one experience isnt scientific, seemed to be more a fratty bro crowd these days. However Im not going back. Fellow trans* folks: Heads-up, Mike Shiflet, the usual bouncer, isnt good people when it comes to us. The owner, Michael Black, hasnt represented himself very well either. Ill leave it at that understatement.
Good spot for late night drinks. The beer is good but you wont get anything to eat. Although, you can get food from outside if you want to.
Best chill spot in town, but dont come here because I like the pool tables to myself. Just kidding, stop in for some good beer at a reasonable price, pool, darts, and fun times
The best bar in town if youre looking to chill, throw some darts or shoot some pool. Jeremy, Chelsea, Jason, Nick, and Goober are some of the best bartenders in Bloomington.
A highlight of Bloomington nightlife. Great spot for a beverage and fun. Popular among students and locals alike. Check it out for yourself!
Dive bar gone trendy. Johny Walker Black now costs 9$!!! Just weeks ago it was 7$. Still a decent place to play pool or darts.
Great place to celebrate your best days and forget your worst days. Love the chill atmosphere and shooting pool with my buddies. The no cover charge is also a HUGE plus
This place was great 10 years ago, now its just another lame frat bar. Avoid the basement bar there, the Vids owner bought his entitled son a bar down there.
Pretty cool place. Drinks were well made & worth the money if ya know what I mean 😉 Would like to go back again.
$0.50 pool games, lots of tables with quality cues. Weekends it gets a little rowdy and crowded with college kids, but early evening weeknights and weekends its very quiet and theres no wait for a table.
Great place to play darts or pool! Drinks are reasonable priced. Definitely the less traditional college crowd at this bar.
Great place to hangout and play cheap pool or free darts but the pool tables could use some tlc.
Since I moved here from palm springs california a friend introduced me to this place and instantly fell in love with it! Amazing staff, drinks and just all around a great atmosphere!!
No dress restrictions, why would they its a good place to hang out with friends and have a cold beer or two. Does look like something out the 1970s.
One of the few places in town with pool, darts, and pinball. A little dive barish. Decent beer selection. Can get crowded
Great bar! The staff is great and plenty of bar games to partake in. A must stop for me anytime Im in Btown.
Great drinks. Lots of places to play pool and darts. Never super busy. Quiet and relaxing
No plates on the bathrooms that tell you which bathroom is which and no locks on the stall doors?? Scary as hell being in there while drunk. Have to get another woman to watch out for you if you go.
Classic bar. Go! Meet friends, play darts, drink cheap beer or craft beer. No one will judge you for either, and you wont be the oldest one there!
Atmosphere is awesome, the beer selection is great, and the staff is even better. Definitely one of the best bars in town.
Good drinks, fun bar but expensive compared to other Bloomington bars. Well worth it.
One of my favorite watering hols in this town. Great place to play pool (if you can get a table).
Not what it used to be, but still better than most. Billiards, darts and beer. Only missing the not cool crowd. Recommend.
Beer, pool, darts, some acrade games, big bar with good bartenders and a good vibe. Always a fun place for a Friday night with friends
Love playing pool here to play it only cost $1 to play
Great place for bar games. Gets a little crowded on weekends, but perfectly deserted on weeknights.
Got pool, darts and plenty of space. Good for any size group
Good beer, plenty of locals, darts and pool. What more do ya need
Doesnt let International students inside. Mike is a very rude person
My favorite bar in town... great atmosphere.. fun place to hang with friends
Great bartenders, decent prices, darts, and pool. Nice place to hang out.
Chill place for bar games if you can get there early. Even then its a nice atmosphere away from the common college bar rabble
Low key classic town bar. Darts, pool, affordable drinks, not trying too hard to be anything other than what it has always been.
Best place to play darts and pool. Great atmosphere and always my go to bar in Bloomington
If you need a real bar in Bloomington, without the frat kids and bumping music, this is a great place.
Great place to do so many different drinking games. No covers and great atmosphere
Good one. Lot of space. Decent pool tables and darts and big screen for games
Good place to hang for drinks. Drop some quarters and wait for your turn to play pool!
We ordered a whole pizza and it took them 20 minutes. They got the type of pizza wrong and were also serving others whole pizzas.
Typical bar. Popular with college crowd. Happy to be able to play darts locally!
One of my favorite places to go in Bloomington. There are never any fights and the scene is always relaxed.
Townie dive bar, no frills and the drinks were strong, quick and everyone was friendly.
Low key and chill, cheap beer with pool and darts, never any cover, great bar
The bartenders are excellent people to be around and the shots are pretty big for a very reasonable price. I
A different bar with Pool tables and darts. The downside is it gets too crowded and sometimes it is hard to find tables
A lot bigger than I expected it to be, staff seemed friendly enough, seems like theres a lot to do there game-wise but I didnt play much.
Great service cheap drinks pool darts cant beat it best bar down town BLOOMINGTON
Great place to play pool, bartenders are awesome and always have time for a chat
A Bloomington staple. Cold drinks and good times. Always worth checking out when youre having a night on the town.
Strongest drinks in town, love going here with my friends and coworkers
Great place to grab a drink with your friends, just dont be crazy!
Bloomingtons pool & used to be dive bar. Still good place after all these years
Lots of room, lots of pool tables and darts. What you would think of as a large grungy college bar.
Always a great bar to go to. Even better during the summer!
I really enjoyed this place! There are plenty of pool tables.
Love this place. Good drinks/ prices and pool tables
Not a bad place at all to chill out and enjoy yourself.
My favorite bar in Bloomington. Darts and pool are always fun.
My absolute favorite bar of all time. Great staff, great atmosphere.
Good place to play some pool or darts and have a drink
Always a favorite when in btown. Darts, pool, good people, cheap drinks. Its got it all.
Interesting group of people, great bar games and local selection of beer.
Big fan of the drinks there as well as the laid back environment.
Awesome local spot with pool tables and good drinks!
Nice and spacious but still can be really packed. And hot. But still a staple
Good place to get a drink and pay some affordable pool
Always consistently fun. Best bar in Bloomington.
Cool place to grab a beer and play miss Pac-Man or billiards.
Keeping it weird. And cheap. And the bartenders are cool too.
Fun place to play pool and darts with a chill atmosphere.
The vid is a dark and grimy place, where fights always seem just about to happen but never quite do. I like it
Lots of bar games, but can get crowded with college kids after 10 and weekends
Mike (doorman) is a legend. Nice place to just hang out
Kinda cool place to hang out, shoot pool, darts, or watch sports.
Played darts and shot some pool. Nice atmosphere
Always my spot, even if I dont get out as much as I used too.
Nice relaxing bar to just chill and have a good time
I had a GREAT time here! Fun and games abound!
If you like ugly girls and hipster guys, but hate debit/credit cards this is the place for you
Its the vid what can I say and Mike is the best.
Very nice inside but not good students get drunk
Dark, a bit dingy, fun, quality, pool, darts, no cover ever
Great hole-in-the-wall bar with billiards and darts
I spend most of my college life if this bar and I am OK with that.
Great pool hall with great dart boards
Ozzy “door man” will always be my favorite.
Cheap beer, lots of space, lots of restrooms, darts and pool
Amazingly cozy place to chill with your friends.
My favorite place to play pool in town.
