Ive been going to The Underground for a long time. Even before an old friend bought the place. The bartenders are friendly, they never skimp on the booze, and the prices are quite good. They host fun drag shows featuring stunning men and women. Its great.
If zero stars was an option- 0 across the board! Trash! Came from out of town, first time exploring Buffalo and the night life/scene. Every. 👏 single. 👏 bar. 👏 had welcomed me with open arms. EXCEPT THIS PLACE! I walked in and sat at the bar for about 5 minutes with no acknowledgement from the service side of things. I watched whatever unattractive dude was tending bar, take a trash can towards the back of house area, and then proceeded to wave security over. The next thing I know, I was met by security tapping me on the shoulder, telling me “you gotta go”…..what? Did I do something? Was I too hot for the thre left old men that were lingering?! I will NEVER come back to this place. Absolute trash! Horrible service! Horrible attitudes! I will say however, their only redeeming quality- the security guard. He listened to me tell him I have never been in this city, or to this establishment, he listened to me express that I wasn’t sure what I did but I was being pushed out of here for nothing. Great kind man, and he even suggested a few better bars to go to. This place should be ashamed of themselves.Update:And your response shows exactly what type of person you are and what type of establishment you run. I was clearly not in the correct place anyways. You should really check your facts because it was not 10 minutes to closing. At least not compared to your hours listed. It’s a shame you could have kicked out this other person without kicking myself out too. What did I ever do to deserve being kicked out of a bar I have never been in? Guilty by association to someone whose circumstances I’m not aware of I guess. Dumb. If this person was so bad you clearly aren’t worried about someone else’s well being. 🤦♂️ Furthermore, I have never seen an “owner” or manager- or whatever you call yourself- who is too afraid to deliver the message themselves. Quite the “scared little boy act” to not go to someone directly to tell them they need to leave. You hid behind security to do your dirty work. Shameful. Be a man and say your peace face to face. If you really needed to get the message across you wouldn’t have been afraid to do it yourself. It’s funny you think your crude response is enough to silence me. I will not be silenced.
I cant express enough how much I adore the Underground! From the vibrant atmosphere to the friendly staff and amazing entertainment, every visit here is a fantastic experience. The energy is electric, the music is on point, and the inclusive and welcoming environment makes me feel right at home. The diverse crowd and the acceptance of everyone, regardless of who they are, create an atmosphere of love and unity. The bartenders are not only skilled but also incredibly personable, making sure you always have your favorite drink in hand. Its more than just a place to dance; its a sanctuary where people can be their authentic selves without judgment.
As an ally this is one of my favorite LGBT bars in town!! Always a great time. Great shows, music, darts, pool and fun! I Always have the best time!!!!. And The service is awesome.! Thanks Dan and team for always making me feel welcome and for the laughs! 💙🩷
The owner is hot headed and illiterate. the staff needs an attitude check and maybe a tolerance break. an old man came up disrespectfully and physically pushed my friend off a chair, if they would assess the situation before creating a narrative that didn’t happen, 10+ people would’ve enjoyed their night there. now 10+ people will never be returning. from other reviews this seems to be a common occurrence. no one pushed the elderly man, he pushed us. he told the bartender and we were greeted with more aggression. 3 min later when it was over with we were told to leave. people we didn’t even know left with us because they witnessed the hostility and unfairness. many people can attest that an elderly man was not pushed, and was the aggressor. if the owner and staff took the time to understand instead of stooping to that level as well, this could’ve been avoided.if the man was respectful and asked for his seat back, our friend would’ve 100% gotten up. treat people how you want you want to be treated.owner and staff escalated situation and seem to do that often. when posted on social media we were flooded with replies of how people feel unsafe there due to the immaturity and escalation from the staff.we would never push a elderly man, they have one side to a story that was fabricated. my friends were wrongfully kicked out and the responses to reviews shows their immature behavior being twice our age. we even tried deescalating, but it happened too fast and the owner was on a power trip. this was a place we loved to go but this incident that happened and escalated in the matter of 5 min shows we are not safe to go there. that’s not how you handle situations as an owner or staff. the guilt tripping in the replies to feel better about yourself is not what happened at all. how would you feel if you unknowingly sat in someone’s seat and they greet you with aggression and physical altercation? this could’ve been avoided if he acted his age and favoritism wasn’t at play.
The underground has always been my favorite LGBTQ+ bar to go to. Always a great time and they play the best music if you want to dance plus they have a nice size dance floor with lights built intothem. The staff has always been so great to me
*UPDATE** I had an interesting experience at the underground. I went for a closed event and unfortunately the contracted security team treated me particularly poorly. Since then Nick and the team at underground have made space for me to share my concerns and feel heard. Any club or establishment that values its space would do the same. I truly appreciate their concern and will surely be back! See something say something
Eight 5 star reviews in one night to cover up your incidents that keep occurring? Did you offer a drink special to anyone who left a good review?Do better. Not a safe space, your replies and lack of response when necessary can attest to that.
Dan was quick to acknowledge me and got my drink quickly when he got to me. Underground is a nice space to dance or tie one on, and darts and pool are a plus. I wish I had gone sooner.
A great LGBTQIA friendly bar/venue to have a drink, dance and catch a drag/burlesque show without the busy, large, club scene. The venue has a dance floor, a long 2 sided bar, pool table, jukebox and small cocktail tables. The owner and bartenders are super nice and make sure everyone is safe & happy.
Best damn night club in all of buffalo, gay or straight. Nick and their entire staff are lovely caring people who love to have a good time with all of their guests.
Very cool place to pre game at and the vibes are definitely there. Bartenders are nice with the eye candy on it
I went during leather night on Saturday and was was pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere. Although, I bought a bottle water 3 different times at 3 different prices... The first time a bottle of water was $3, second was $2, and the third time was $2.50. This is highly dissatisfying the bartenders are unhonestly charging differently. If I was to truly give a review, Id give this bar less than a 1 star. Very dissatisfied with the professionalism and honesty of bartenders....
Awesome place to go visit! 0 judgement and friendly all around 3 thumbs up, if I could. Definitely a must see when in Buffalo.
Went to this club for the very first time, bartender/owner was super rude to my cousin. Accused her of being in his bar on cinco de mayo, when were not even from buffalo. On top of him accusing her of starting trouble and being band from the bar, he yelled screamed false statements like she was in the bathroom smoking crack ect. He also made her a drink after doing all of this when she declined the drink he again goes into a rage. Yelling and telling her yea you better be glad you didnt take that vodka and cranberry because it was going to be the best one you ever had. Mind you he walked away from us to go fix the drink and came back trying to sell it to her. Security even was surprised at how calm we was and how in raged he was all while mistaken my cousin for someone else. I definitely wouldnt be going here ever
I love this bar! Its a little on the dive side but who secretly doesnt enjoy a good dive when its done right.... and at Underground its done right! Friendly staff, great drinks at a great price! So many fun events to check out! I love Monday karaoke and the WTF shows on the every other Wednesday. they have many more great events too I dont know when all of them are off the top of my head but I am sure they put them on their website or facebook or something. If your sick of the stuck up attitude on Allen st come here where all are welcome!
Ive been here like 5 times just to play pool and the environment and atmosphere here was really good everytime and the service was great.
Dark dirty and smells like piss ever time. Dirty and definitely not in a good way! Lol To top it all off the drinks are weak! Dont waste your time or money. Shame because it use to be one of the best bars in Buffalo until a new owner took over
Wana learn to duck walk?! Go to underground! Great shows, atmosphere and staff! Always an amazing time!
I love going there the bartenders are amazing. I always have a great time.
Great vibes. If the bartenders think you’re straight you’ll be was waiting a bit for your drinks. Otherwise 10/10
The bartender was super nice and friendly. Drinks were well made and at a good price.
The show was awesome, good company. My only complaint is during the drag show the DJ needs to shut up !! We didnt come to listen to him.
I have so many memories from this place......Too numerous to mention. All good ones...Cant get out right now no car, but if I could this is the first place I would head to on the weekend. Very friendly people....Love Ya Underground. See you soon I hope.....RJH
Dan is the best ever! Most welcoming, genuine unicorn you’ll ever meet!
They bartender was very rude on Saturday he dismissed us as we were walking in because the seats were all filled which was fine but he was rude about it then I asked if we can at least use the bathroom really quick he turned his back to us and said no. It’s sad that people are allowed to be so rude at work.
Great local hangout for the LGBTQ community and any friends! Bartenders are fabulous especially Bryan on Sundays
This is my favorite nightclub by far, the drinks are great and so is the staff. music is always great too.
Love the underground they always make you feel special and loved ❤️ always a good time 😊
Love it. One of the best underrated bars in WNY. Been coming here since I can remember 😁
This place is closed unfortunately. The city closed it because it was housed in a homeless shelter. 10/24/2018 Update its actually open and it looks great. I can take it or leave it to be honest.
A amazing fun place with great drinks, fabulous drag shows & sexy Burlesque shows!
Went for the first time yesterday. People are very friendly and prices are reasonable. My NEW Hang Out.
