So happy places like this still exist. This isn’t a fancy resort so all of the reviews that are under four stars disregard. They aren’t fair. The CLEAN rooms are just a tad over $100.00!! To be in the middle of the most pristine mountains and have healing natural sulphide hot tubs for free! This is a RUSTIC RESORT come here if that is what you are into and it will feel luxurious. I think it’s so unfair to the business to give low reviews when it’s clear what type of hotel this is. This place should be subsidized as a Washington treasure! If you are hiking, backpacking or canoeing in the Columbia gorge this has to be on your itinerary! If you are chronically sick these are the types of places that can heal your body. Pack your own food or pay decent prices at the restaurant. And if your disabled let them know to give you a downstairs room. Thanks Carson staff and owners for keeping this magical place going and sharing this with the public. ♥️
Stayed one night, mid week in May. It is a beautiful location. The restaurant nearby had good food and drinks and our server was very nice. Our hotel room was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the experience of the soak and wrap in the private womens bathhouse, I thought it was very reasonably priced. I especially enjoyed the mineral water hot tub pool and cold plunge, I have never experienced anything like that, it was invigorating! It was great to do during the week because it wasnt crowded, I doubt my experience would have been as pleasurable during the busy weekend or peak season.I do wish there was an outside pool experience but there are other hot springs in the area that can accommodate.
Nice place to stay with mineral baths and a pool. The pool is included in the price of the room. The baths are extra.Room was clean and comfortable.Staff friendly and helpful.Pool are was clean and with plenty of towels.A short walk to the golf club for breakfast.I’d recommend driving the short distance to Backwoods Brewery for dinner - great pizza and nice beer
We stayed in the apartment suite would recommend trying to get second floor we were on the first so privacy was lessened. Room was large, master bed was a bit hard but big plenty of room blankets on the bed were soft. Master bathroom has a weird layout but again big. Getting to use the main pool or your own hot tub was awesome. We didnt use the spa. Did see some reviews about staff but during our stay 3 days/2 nights the staff was amazing and we for sure would come back.
We enjoyed our stay, especially the hot tubs. Rooms were clean and need updating. For example, the old lamps had connectors for modems! There is a strong musty smell near the hot tubs.
A nice spot! Kids were bummer there was no pool they could use, and the adults might have used it if it hadn’t been cumbersome to get a bracelet to use them. Bath house not only costs extra but needs to be booked in advanced. Hot tubs were nice though.
A quick getaway trip to try out the hot spring supplied soaking baths🛁. You can smell the minerals, sulphur, in the bath house. The plunge pool is hot to very hot and another adjoining pool is very cold. The newer rooms are nicer than rooms in older building. Meals are available at nearby Elk Ridge Golf Course. The food is very good there. The front desk was mostly friendly and helpful. Priscilla was the friendliest staff person and also the bath house attendants.
Had a nice two night stay here. Best thing about being a guest was the free access to the mineral pool and cold plunge pool. They were really clean and in good condition. The rooms were perfectly fine. They could probably do with a refresh as the furniture and carpet are a little old but were clean and cosy. Also would have been good to have a microwave in the room. The mountains and scenery surrounding the hotel were just lovely. All in all a pretty good stay.
Check in took forever, the rooms were clean and comfy, hot tub was a nice addition. The bathhouse attendant was excellent and very accommodating. My daughter enjoyed her massage. My first visit there was in 1989 and the hotel theyve built was excellent. The therapy pool is a great addition to the services they offer. My daughter is excited to bring her husband next time.
On the positive side, this is a very peaceful location. The rooms (although very dated) with the private hot tubs are great, but definitely get one on an upper floor so that people arent walking by you. The beds are comfortable and they provide robes. The only thing that really ruined our experience was the poor room cleaning. There were globs of hair on the edge of the tub and a bottle cap under the bed; totally gross.
Great place, recommend the Mineral bath and heated therapy pool. Works wonders for skin and health. The Hot tubs are nice, but you quickly see the difference in hot tub water and mineral water after trying both in such a short time. Not much food options in the immediate vicinity, but its a beautiful venue worth the stay. Great for a few days to relax and unwind.
Had a wonderful experience with the bathhouse and wrap. Chris was the attendant in the bathhouse and she was absolutely amazing, she went above and beyond. I really appreciated her kindness and help. Will definitely be back.
We paid $390 for a king suite room with hot tub on a balcony and got a room with a hot tub on ground floor with dogs pooping about 10 feet from the hot tub in full view. The dog walking/bathroom area is right behind the rooms hot tubs. The furniture is pretty dated and overall quality is low-mid range befitting 1-2 star hotel. Ive been to many hot springs and dont think the mineral water is very interesting here (hard to quantify -not very minerally, seems like regular water compared to other hot springs. Not good value, spend your money elsewhere.
So ALL the STAFF are just the easiest laid-back people who treat you like a normal person and help you as much as they can. The STANDARD QUEEN 2 BEDS priced affordability, kinda outdated, I had a smart flat-screen in the queen with 2 beds, but when I upgraded to a standard king room it didnt have a very nice TV. Only had 9 cable channels I think. Beds were comfortable and very well kept. Had a awesome patio fireplace area with tables that other guests would sit around and socialize. Highly recommend picking to stay here.
My husband booked room #206 for our anniversary trip and it was dirty, used coffee filter in the coffee pot, and stains on the carpet so bad I got extra towels to lay down so I could walk on it without shoes. I did tell the front desk and they gave me the towels, but was told housekeeping was already gone for the day. I even asked if it was a pet room (since they allow pets) and was told no and that they just had carpets cleaned. I cant tell you anything about the pools, since after seeing the room there was no way I was getting in the pools. They were full as were the other hotels in the area so there was nothing we could do. We will not stay at this hotel again. Once home I called to talk to manager and had to leave a message. I did call back to talk to front desk. She was nice and apologetic but being nice doesnt make the bad experience go away.
Not a place for relaxing wellness and mountain air.Step 1: funky smelling rooms and management takes a very permissive attitude towards cigarette smokers. The type of smokers who view it as a right, not the privilege it is, and anyone who vomits or gets migraines from second hands smoke can quit their whining.Step 2: Hot tub folliculitis.
Very quiet and peaceful with beautiful mountain scenery. The bullfrogs singing in the pond make a lovely background noise. Staff were super nice and very helpful. Our room had a private spa tub on the balcony. Pure bliss! The only issue with the room was housekeeping. We found mouse poop in the dresser drawer and numerous small things on the floor under chairs and in corners. Hair ties, candy wrapper, ect.The bed was super comfortable though!
A nice place to spend a romantic vacation the place near mountains. There is no breakfast but there was 24/7 coffee and tea available. They have hot springs but are not included with the stay and require extra payment.
Rooms were dirty. Mold on the walls, candy bars behind the dresser and old coffee left in the coffee maker. Definitely not worth the money! Also prepaid on Orbitz and those rooms are in a wing with no elevator. I asked to pay to move and they said it was impossible.A naked man came and harassed us at the fire around 1 am...and there is no staff after 10 so it felt super unsafe and there was no way to get him to leave. Not a good experience at all!**I said the rooms were unclean. Little did I know they were deadly. My friend is now on life support from legionnaires disease from a contaminated hot tub.**
This location was 30 minutes away from the wedding venue. However, we picked it because it was listed as family friendly. The website listed a lot of amenities. We left our kid at the hotel with my aunt. The room was not available at 4pm. The pool was 18 and up (which was not disclosed beforehand). The trail was permanently closed. You had to drive to the “on-site restaurant”.
Location is great with the perfect mountain views. However, the website gave me the impression the restaurant was walking distance on the property. Due to the mountains, we had to drive to the restaurant (by the golf course), only to find no parking, so we drove into town to eat. It would be great if there were trails or paths to walk around, but we had to drive to those as well.
Just had our honeymoon here. The staff was wonderful. Our room was perfect. Shout out to Eliana for the personalized care and making our special time away so great. The soak was wonderful as always and the attendant was so sweet and accommodating. Also to the two wonderful women who were working Sunday morning, really enjoyed your energy and thank you for the great service.Ps - thank you to all the staff, who help me search for my ring I thought I lost….I found my jewelry. I had left it at home.Keep up the good work we appreciate you!!
If your smoker dont stay here theyll accuse you of smoking in your room if you accidentally drop a cigarette butt out of your pocket they charged us $254 four times for 2 days that we stayed there they are con artists and very unprofessional. Ill never book with them again. Plus when we checked in the bathroom window was unlocked so anybody could have snuck in and stole our valuable, good thing we checked that kind of thing ourselves. And for 198$ it doesnt even cover the use of the bath house thats another 35$. Con Artists for sure. Beware the St. Martin inn at Carson hot springs its a to off, and I didnt see any hot springs just w water they piped in claiming its from a hot springs that cost extra. I doubt Jane Seymour ever stayed there and shot a movie without them playing her to do so.
Two of my friends and I came for the day to enjoy a soak and a wrap. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute. As most of the prior reviews read. I agree the bathhouse attendant was so lovely in every way. She had long dark curly hair. We loved her.Sadly, as many of the prior reviews stated, the girls behind the desk were rude and very unwelcoming. I admit, I was ready for it as Id read the reviews in advance. I called them out on it, and when I did, they knocked it off. But it set the day off negatively. I felt bad about the experience, although necessary imo. I dont know why this is allowed to go on when the management is obviously aware of it by the numerous comments. But our bathhouse experience was fabulous.
We were on motorcycle ride decided the stop for quick bite to eat found out there are hot springs pools. We decided to take advantage of it and I definitely can recommend it to everyone. It was a great way to relax before continuing our trip
So lets start that not all the reviewers paid the same price here for the same room. Some paid more and expected more than a motel 6 accommodations, and some exactly paid like a motel and wrote a reasonable review. My point is, do not pay as for luxury experience, because youre not getting one. Let me tell you about my experience for $300/night. Booked 2 nights as a getaway on the 4th of July. The prices were crazy which I thought, Oh well, last minute reservation, and it is a holiday, so ok. Once I paid, I received a confirmation message saying that cancelation only possible if you cancel no later than July 3. I booked on the 4th... (later, I found out that, no, it is not a mistake. My reservation on the 4th I could indeed only cancel/modify on the 3rd. Surprise!) Was super excited after seeing all these wonderful pics on their website, and my excitement was all gone after I opened the door of my room. Here is the list: strong, musty odor, stained carpet, bare minimum of not very alive furniture, dirty walls, hair balls in random places, spider web, dead insects. And like I said above- I could get a refund for a day I didnt use, only if I canceled my reservation before I made my reservation(duhh!). Nope. Had to ran away the next day. Now pros. The location is beautiful, the hot tub on the patio was amazing (dont expect privacy. Other guests walked with their dogs there), the area is very quiet and clean. Again, for the right price- works great. Not a resort though
There are several issues with Carson Hot Springs Resort. Heres a list of our top issues:1. LATE Check-in - Check-in time was supposed to be at 4pm, but our room wasnt ready until 5pm. 2 weeks prior, we alerted the staff that our aunt and infant would be staying alone at the property until we arrived back from a wedding, so we requested early check-in, as the wedding was at 2:30pm. Not being early is one thing, and understandable, but late was completely unacceptable given the situation. My 10 month old daughter had to sleep outside in her stroller in the baking hot sun.2. The hiking trail advertised on the website is no longer available due to a landslide. They dont disclose this update anywhere on the website. The hotel doesnt even own the property any longer.3. The on-site restaurant is actually about a mile and a half away on a hill that inclines at about 60 degrees, not located near or within the hotel. If you dont have a car, accessing the restaurant will be a challenge. In the case of my aunt babysitting our infant, pushing the wagon up this hill was not feasible at all.4. Pools are actually 18 and up, NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY. They dont put on this on the website, as they list the pool under family-friendly amenities, but they change this sentiment in the confirmation emails fine print.5. Despite a late check-in, rooms werent up to par with cleanliness. My family and I were MORTIFIED by the situation they put our aunt and young child into. Would never recommend anyone staying here.
Very great getaway. Got the room with jacuzzi outside on balcony. It was very quiet for a valentine day. Room was clean and cozy, very warm. There us a small fridge in room, and if you want coffee/tea you can get complimentary in lobby. Which also has microwave if you need to heat up something.Lobby also has books and games to borrow. Will definitely be coming back to use hot pool, and bath house.
My wife and I have stayed here numerous times and really loved the in room hot tubs and the main pool area but they have lost a loyal customer. My wife went to there website and booked a room for 287$ which is expensive but we booked anyway but we subsequently got charged 415$ which we would never pay for 1 night, called Carson hot springs and they said we booked with a third party so they cant do anything, and they said we cant cancel the reservation. The third party said if we cancel there going to charge 315$ which is more than the original agreement even was so now were stuck. There is some type of bait and switch going on and after speaking with Carson hot springs Im sure they know all about it and just dont care. I will not support a business that doesnt care about their customers and I will not spend a penny at this business anymore
Drove 6 hours to stay at Carson Hot Springs with our 2 dogs. We reserved a room for our pets. They said the room we had was not a dog room because it had a king size bed. We asked them to downgrade us to any other room. They said not possible unless we pay another $250. We are now with no room at all at 8pm on 4th of July weekend. Snooty desk clerk and manager. I’ll never be back there!
Room for 3 adults. 2 queens2 towels 1 washcloth 2 robes. Musty smell from deck hot tub. Pool not open for morning soaks. People were very loud with music at the fire pit until midnight when I went out and hollered. No access to microwave or hot tea pot, room coffee pot not hot enough for tea.The potential is there for a 5 star review, but theres so much room for improvement.
UPDATE - Dont leave things in your room and immediately call to get locate them and try to get them sent to you. You will get the run around, talk to numerous people who dont seem to talk to each other (even though they are short staffed) and dont want to listen when you say youve told the SAME thing to 5 people in as many calls since you checked out over a week prior. They get upset when youre upset and are tired of explaining your situation to them and hang up on you. Nothing but excuses. On top of that, its a dated property - desperate need of renovations. Location is good but thats about it.
Great little getaway for a reasonable price! We did the hot spring pool area (the cold plunge is awesome!) and then did the private hot springs tub and wrap. The wrap is rad—they swaddle you like a baby!
Full disclosure, we were a little confused about where we were staying. Years ago we stayed at Bonneville Hot Springs and heard they sold and we thought this was the new name. It is not. I will say that Carson Hot Springs has a fabulous photographer who makes the place look amazing. When you drive up, it looks very dated and a bit rickety. We went to check in and they were dealing with an ant problem. I was a little concerned about what we would find in our room. The gal checking us in was a bit curt, not very friendly for someone checking people in for a massage and hotel stay. Our massages were at 11am and she said check in was not until 4pm and then she said she might be able to get us in at 3 we could check back in.The place for the massage is definitely rustic, the floor is uneven, and they do not provide lockers, just baskets and then a large sign that they are not responsible if anything is stolen. The dressing area has three changing rooms but the area is very small. They do not provide flip flops, but they do provide robes. I am bigger and was concerned the robe would not fit me but was pleasantly surprised to find it did and when I voiced my concern that gal in the bath house said she had sheets too if I needed one. I thought that was nice. The massage rooms are not rooms, they are well let and they have curtains separating them. I was offered ear plugs to drown out the noise, I declined. The massage therapist did a great job. We both had hot stone massages and thought they were good.We got back to the hotel at 3pm and went to see if we could check in early. We were curtly told that check in was at 4pm. When we explained they said we may be able to check in early she said, again with some attitude that check was 4. I ask what building we would be in and she did confirm that, when I asked what floor, she sounded irritated and said that she couldnt let us know until we checked in. I am recovering from a foot injury and we were trying to strategize where to park.We had discussed if the room was too sketchy we would just cancel our reservation and eat the cost if we had to. The site says the cost starts at $168 with fees. My sister made the reservation and I am not sure if she made it online or called, I do remember she was trying to sign up for their rewards program so we could get the best price. Turns out the room cost $300 a night. Harder to let $300 go than $168. Not sure why there is such a discrepancy between the site and what we were actually charged. We initially said, well it is a good deal you get what you pay for but $300 is a nice chunk of change. The room was out dated like the rest of the hotel but it was lovely to have a hot tub in your room. They do use mineral water and I would like to know, or maybe I really do not want to know, if they clean those tubs out after each use. There is no chlorine to kill whatever might be in there. The beds were comfortable and they gave you each an extra towel for the hot tub. They say it is private but there is a trail down to the river and a green grassy area which both saw quite a bit of traffic. , I would not call it a river view room but you do get to see the woods. They have baby fir trees along the grassy area that would be lovely at night if they put white lights in them. The next morning we went to check out the restaurant, which said it stopped serving breakfast at 11am. It was 11:10 and my sister went in to see if they would serve breakfast, the gal was busy on her phone but when she did finally decide to acknowledge my sister she very curtly said breakfast stops at 11am. There was one other couple in the restaurant. Clearly they do not want the business.I think if you are not a germaphobe and you are good with rustic, then you will enjoy this location. If you are looking for a resort with everything in the same building, and a spa like atmosphere with good customer service where they seem happy you are there then maybe you want to go somewhere else.
I’ve been coming to Carson Hot Springs to enjoy the tubs for multiple years now. My two girlfriends and I went up on Sunday, February 25 with a 3 hour round trip to enjoy what we thought was going to be a relaxing afternoon; as it usually is. It has been taken over now by some corporation, and the rude lady with the short hair in the bath house was sure to let us know that’s why it isn’t like it use to be. Now corporation is pushing for more people to be rushed out so more people can come in. The other tub attendant was literally running from one side of the bathhouse to the next frantically because she said it was shift change. I think that this place needs to be a bit more organized. The lady with the short hair was extremely rude and smelled like liquor as she wrapped us up in the blankets after the tubs. She also apologized for her rudeness because she was from Montana that’s her character. I seriously couldn’t believe what was happening in a place where people come to relax and getaway. Not sure if it was just a bad day for them or what , but the place has the worst customer service from the ladies in the office to the extremely rude ladies in the bath house. Good luck Carson Hot Springs! It was once a great place to visit but after this experience I’m sad to say I will no longer be returning.
The bath house is now my go-to every other month. I felt like a new person when I left there. The hot mineral water, then the cold plunge, back to the hot bath, then wrap, sauna, and finish with a cold shower. Bring tip money because they take care of you. Best value in the NW.
Lovely affordable getaway from Portland for a night or two. A room with a private hot tub on the balcony was less than $175 for a Thursday night. My hot tub was awesome and I had a beautiful view of the woods from the third floor, especially during sunrise. It is absolutely private- if you’re a little bit daring you don’t need to wear a swimsuit. You cannot see anyone else’s balcony or hot tub around you.The bathhouse/spa is the star of the show. It is unreasonably affordable. You can do a 50 minute soak and body wrap for $30, which is luxurious and lovely. I don’t know of any other hour long spa treatment that you can do for $30. The attendant, Deborah, was kind and helpful. In fact every employee I interacted with at the hotel went out of their way to be nice to me.The rooms themselves definitely need some TLC- very dated and many things did not work as intended (for instance my door was extremely difficult to lock and kept blowing open). My shower also didn’t work/was broken- you could only take a bath in room H309 which was not ideal after being in the hot tub. If I had been staying for longer than just one night I would have had to switch rooms so that I could shower. I was able to shower in their mineral water shower at the bath house after my soak though, which definitely helped. Also, skip the restaurant at the golf course that they give you a coupon for at check-in. The waitress was kind but I should have known when I was the only person there for breakfast that it wasn’t very good. It’s extremely expensive and kind of bland. I also witnessed some old golf guy have a meltdown over paying $22 for a double Bloody Mary (to his credit, that does seem unreasonably expensive) which threw off my relaxing morning vibe. I went to Big River Grill instead for lunch and it was drastically better.
I called ahead and liked the prices, when I arrived the pool was filled with families so I went for the bathhouse option. The water was a nice 120° and after a few dips in the cold bath I ended up falling asleep in the tub for over an hour. My overworked body and muscles are still saying Thank You! . I had a very relaxing time and plan on visiting often.
Clean and comfortable rooms. Definitely spring for the private balcony hot tubs! The main Mineral pool was nice, but can be a bit crowded and has added chlorine.
If you dont enjoy the smell of cigarettes, avoid this place like the plague. The staff dont care if other guests are violating their smoking restrictions.
One of my favorite places to go for rest and recovery. If you can do an overnight stay, I HIGHLY recommend it. Otherwise just a soak and wrap will renew your spirits! Theres something magical in that mineral water 🙏🏼💦🛀🪄🛁 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
The reception is very friendly. They were very very nice and were able to accommodate our request. Appreciate all of your help and understanding!
Visited a friend who is staying there. I was checking out the hot tub in her room. There was slime on the inside and she was only there for 2 days. Im wondering how often its cleaned?
Theres a lot to say but I need to remind myself its in a small town. Theres almost no services in Carson proper. The hot tub on our balcony was clean and hot. The room was dated but the beds were comfortable. Our toilet broke. Wifi was down. And no one on site to assist. It felt almost Airbnb like with no response from the owner. I would however...go back because they have a little piece of heaven for a reasonable price. And the only bar serving liquor in town.
I had a wonderful time and look forward to coming back. Laid back and low key motel-type resort. The rooms are pretty standard, but they have AC and all the necessities and are clean. They are a little dated, but part of the charm of the whole place is that everything is a little dated. The whole reason for staying here is the therapy pool, thermal water, and geothermal baths. The therapy pool is large and warm and wonderful, and the adjacent cold pool is refreshing. The outdoor seating area is relaxing and has pretty views. Ask locals about things to do in the area - dont trust the travel magazines.
Too many young guests in pools during our visit. Nice, but probably wont visit again, unless golf course is open, weather is better. Just too crowded and noisy. Hard to enjoy the mineral tub.
Had an amazing experience here. The front desk ladies were very helpful. The room was wonderful. We actually got to check in early. We got the third floor with a balcony and hot tub. The view was wonderful. The bath house was so relaxing and calming. We will definitely be back. We drove into Stevenson for dinner and had a fantastic meal and drinks at the Red Bluff bar and grill.
My husband and I came here for our anniversary weekend because we wanted to treat ourselves. We reserved over the phone about 1-2 weeks beforehand and asked for a king room with a hot tub on the balcony. They only had king suites left, so we took that. This costs $350 per night. We got there, got the key, turns out we’re on the first floor, which means that people walk their dogs or just walk by on the lawn right in front of our balcony. That ruins the whole mineral hot tub experience, because we have no privacy. The hot tubs are also very loud and seem old, although the water was clean. Everything there is old, and not in a good charming way. The tv is tiny and ancient with horrible resolution. The toilet paper and all the bathroom toiletries are as cheap as they come. The couch looked dirty and one arm on it was fully collapsed in. The second night we had what seemed like a big group of people having a party directly above us, and we could hear everything. I understand if the hotel owners want to keep things cheap and old, but please don’t charge people $350 a night for that! Especially not on the first floor. Absolutely not worth the money.
This is based on our experience with our room. We didnt care for the pool soaking as it was rather plain. No real view, a crowded indoor swimming pool with hot springs water. The room on the other hand was comfortable, clean, and had a Jacuzzi tub on the balcony filled with spring water. We were on the second floor and the balcony looked out over the woods. Parking was a little challenging to park close to your room. Really enjoyed the soak in the Jacuzzi but the water could have been a little warmer. It was around 103. There is time in the evening where only guests are allowed in the pool, 8-10PM but we preferred our private tub. There is no restaurant at the resort and the golf club nearby only did breakfast and lunch.
Went for the day pass for the pool (2 hours according to the rate board; only marked for one hour on the wrist band... Maybe giving extra time vs. shorting me). Hot pool was very hot...cold pool was refrigerated and quite cold. Loved it. Perfect if youre the type to enjoy contrasting thermal therapy. Bench seating around the interior of both pools. Easy access with stairs and railing. Water was treated, but didnt feel over sanitized and full of chemicals. Clean. Dressing rooms were small, but easily accessed. Bathrooms and water next to pools. Towels available as well. Nice experience. I will go back.
This was alot of fun, i have always wanted to go and it was worth it . the pool is included in the room the grounds are very nice. the only complaint i have is th at there are like 4 flights of stairs no elevator.
Our first time here was Amazing. The staff is super friendly(All shifts)the room was perfect(hot tub on the deck)and the location is Beautiful. The Restaurant located by the Golf course is a must. The food is Delicious and the Chefs are very nice as are all the waitresses. We really like this resort and are going back for my 50th Birthday.Highly recommend.
Our 2 queen room was perfect for the 3 of us what a view out the window . We loved the baths was relaxing and worth multiple visit. We will come back again . Also thank you for all the food suggestions!
I love going here to use the hot springs pool and cold plunge. The customer service is excellent every time . This is a peaceful and overall excellent hot springs experience. The pool is indoors , though definitely therapeutic regardless.
We checked in with knowledge we would be staying somewhere that wasn’t modern and fancy. But there is no reason for the carpets to look filthy and feel gross! I didn’t even want to be barefoot. The chair for sitting felt really dirty and smelled. The bed wasn’t too bad. The bathroom shower never really got hot. BUT the hottub was awesome on the patio. I hope it’s really filled with the hot spring water, but regardless that was amazing. We paid for 2 nights and only stayed one, the room was just too dive motel feel.
It was an okay place to stay. The hot rock massage was really enjoyable. The restaurant just recently got better hours, open until 7pm now. I would probably check it out again. Book extra things like massages and the single baths ahead of time. The large soaking pool was nice and hot, though I wish I knew about the single baths ahead of time. A limited number of rooms have tubs in them for about $100 dollars extra. Didnt stay in one though.
Mineral Hot Tub rooms are amazing because of the hot tub! They could really use some updates! Would love to see a bar and food added to the premises! But did I mention soaking in the mineral Hot tubs were quite delightful!Great views, peaceful and great service. Truly, when can I go back!?!We had some fun visiting local breweries and smoke house!
This hotel has come a long way since several years ago!! It felt very classy for the good price! Staff very friendly / mineral tub and tight wrap are a must!! Fire pit is awesome too. Highly recommend for a couple day getaway. Would love if there was a small table next to sink in bathroom for toiletries.
Id read a decent amount of reviews before booking the King Suite with hot tub for a Valentines getaway. Id hoped itd be a relaxing short vacation for the husband and I and let me tell you, it was all that and more! First, the property... Pictures dont really do it justice. Its GORGEOUS, and so is the drive there. Next, check in. I was promptly greeted by a smiling face the moment I walked in the door. We got an end unit on the top floor, the interior was beautiful and the hot tub on our enclosed balcony was absolutely AMAZING. Literal steps away from the door, we could get in and out as we pleased. In fact, I enjoyed my morning coffee in the hot tub & it was a perfect start to the day!! We werent there long enough to utilize the bathhouse or pool so I cant give my honest opinion on them but they appeared clean and I saw lots of people using the pool - all of them smiling and appearing to have a wonderful time. The restaurant was closed when we went, but there are options nearby so we didnt feel like we entirely missed out. Next time, well definitely try the restaurant too! Overall, an amazing experience and I would absolutely go back AND recommend it to anyone who asks.
We choose a King Deluxe room with a hot tub on the patio. The hot tub is super private and over looks a green space and overlooks the wind river. The hotel staff was great. We showed up early and we were still able to get into our room right away. The provided two hooded robes and larger pool towels already stocked in your room. It’s a perfect romantic get away!!
Love it! Great and quiet atmosphere. Got two rooms and enjoyed everything about it. Desk help was friendly and the rooms spotless. Hot tub was awesome. Thanks for a great stay, wish I could have stayed longer!
Service was excellent at the hotel and at the restaurant, which is located at the golf club, but the restaurant, ugh the breakfast was horrid. Eggs were cold, and my hash browns looked like a flat disk that was hard as a rock. No potatoes. The rooms were spacious, but there were issues. We had a hot tub room, and the hot tub was not working and had not been cleaned properly. I own the same rub, balboa, and know that the jets come out for easy cleaning. Well, I decided to look at one of the jets and shouldnt have. It was gross. So, I basically did not use the tub after seeing that. The bath house was nice, and the staff there was kind and courteous along with our massage therapists. They were great as well. Its a beautiful place, and I hope the new owner gets it fixed back up to its original glory.
Went to hot spring as a friend recommend this place while I was visiting Portland, it was a good hour drive from downtown Portland but the drive was beautiful. Checked in for the hot spring staff was friendly. Once you got to the indoor pool it was clean, quiet not to many people was there when we entered and just enjoyed the hotside and cold side of the pool. Was very relaxing. There was two changing room outside and there was two bathroom. There is also a shower pool side, be sure to shower off before entering the pool. Overall great experience would love to come back again.
Staff greets me by my name when I come in to get Portland roasted coffee in the am. Been coming here since the late 80s. Been here off and on for over a month usually go to the Symes hotel in hot springs in Montana but the Columbia River is almost as beautiful as as the Clark Fork in Montana. Room prices vary but less than the Best Western and get to soak. Well my month long vacation ends sad to leave!
This is a half day getaway for us. We only used the baths. We love the soak and wrap: it relaxes our bodies and takes away the aches. They used to have a perk: you would get a free one after buying several. I wish they had brought that back. Also, this last time, I missed the soft meditation music. The drive there and seeing the trees and mountain tops when you step out contributes to this unique relaxing experience. The ladies that help us are always warm and friendly, thank you!
I love Carson and have visited and stayed in the rooms many times over decades. Love the bathhouse & 5 STAR staff, and the 5 STAR excellent massage therapists. All good and I will always be back for those amenities. I am going to find a different place for lodging. The last two times I stayed in a hot tub room there was loud partying noise at night. first time party was done by 1:30 am. This time it was after 3:30 am in the morning when the yelling drunks finally passed out and I knew much more about these strangers than I ever wanted to. There is no staff on site after 10pm so guests are emboldened to behave however they want, including verbally assaulting another guest who has asked that they take the party inside at 3:00 am in the morning. Carson used to be a quiet, restful, serene spot. I feel blessed that I got so many wonderful stays in before Carson updated to an all night partying/swinging spot. If you party all night Carson is your hotel room/hot tub on the deck/uninterrupted party all night paradise.
I got a room to celebrate graduating college and because the website said that overnight guests have access to mineral soaking tubs for the duration of their stay. I arrived to learn that overnight guests only have access to the chlorinated swimming pool and can soak in the tubs for an extra $30 an hour. I think their google description is false advertising and I would have just came in the daytime and paid to soak in the tubs instead of wasting money on a mediocre room.
It looks like something from the wild west and smells like the devil has been loitering about, but its just the sulfate in the water.Great place to soak, massage, relaxing body wraps, sauna....everything you want on a cold winter day. There is a hotel too if you want to spend the night...or a few nights for that matter.Highly recommended, it will shave at least a few months of worry of your shoulder!!
8/18/23 Update: I was able to connect with Lana, who reached out via this review. She was lovely and engaged in a conversation about what the hotel is doing to make their facility a welcoming and comfortable place to stay. She welcomed comments about our experience and made an adjustment to our bill. I appreciated her candor and willingness to listen. She also shared that they had work orders in for AC units, carpet cleaning and addressing the dampness in the room.I look forward to visiting the hotel in the future and updating this review further with new information about the rooms and second experience on the property.Updated rating: 3 general stars (up from 2) and 4 service stars (up from 2).*********************************************Please note: I will update this review if the hotel contacts us regarding our concerns.Original review for 7/14-16/23Pros: When we arrived the staff was cheerful and helpful. The hot and cold pools are enjoyable. The robes are a nice touch, the beds were comfortable and clean, and having an in room refrigerator was helpful.Reflections:Upon entering our room we were immediately dismayed by the appearance of the carpet and the noise of the AC unit. As you can see from the photo, the carpet appeared to be wet. It was slightly sticky and damp but not outright soaked, as it looked to be. We went back and inquired at the front desk and the person explained that the management/owners had full knowledge of the rundown shape of the facilities, stated the age of the side we were in as older than the other, and that the new owners would renovate eventually. Our room had a large dehumidifier freestanding unit and we noticed late the first night that it was flashing full. The next morning we asked to have it emptied. We happened to be on the pool patio when the custodian came and observed several gallons of water being poured out from the reservoir. We noticed on our first morning that all of our clothes and items were slightly damp. Just out of curiosity, the following morning I opened the dehumidifier and found that in 24 hours it was approximately 30-40% full. No wonder our bags and clothing felt damp!At our checkout we expressed our disappointment about the room (damp, excessively noisy AC) and also found out it was a pet friendly room. We were told they notify people without pets when they are booked into the room, and we definitely were not told. Thankfully my friends allergies are confined to cats but not dogs because otherwise it would have been even more miserable. We were told the front desk clerk did not have the authority to make any adjustments to our bill but that they would let management know and that person would follow up. It has been 5 days with no contact from anyone and the full amount of the bill was paid upon checkout.Other cons: lack of space in the bathroom for toiletries (we used the ironing board as a shelf), outlets are few and inaccessible (behind the beds), and the curtains dont close completely allowing for people outside to see into the room/no privacy.I would recommend staying elsewhere and visiting the pools via a day pass rather than as an on site guest. We did not use the mineral baths or spa treatments, a choice we made after viewing the facilities.
Such a lovely quick one night stay! We got the deluxe king room that has your own mineral hot spring hot tub on the deck and it was well worth the cost. Yes the rooms are outdated, the carpets could be steam cleaned as there are stains, but what would you expect with an older hotel. I didn’t come here for a luxury room, I came for the healing waters which are amazing. My skin feels like a baby’s butt! lolThe hot tub was amazing and very very hot when we first got it in. The temp said 108 and I didn’t realize it until I looked like a lobster after 15 min! lol The controls to the hot tub were a little confusing and I think maybe we’re broken but I finally was able to reduce the temp down to 104 which was perfect. The water was clean, fresh, and soooo relaxing. The robes are super soft and comfy too. Lots of extra soft towels also. We didn’t use the pool, the soaking tubs, or massage so can’t say much about that, we wanted to be recluses and just be left alone.I will however say the walls are paper thin. We got to listen to ravishing love making and banging on the walls, for what seemed like hours and hours, we turned up the tv as loud as it would go because ewwww gross! Haha wish people had more decency when staying in a public place! I’m sure she had bruises on her head today! Lol sorry not sorry.Overall amazing place to stay to get away from every day life, beautiful scenery, and a neat older building. Minus the neighbors that had no consideration for us during their “private time”.Oh wanted to mention also there is no microwave in your room so if you bring any food with you, you can’t heat it up. The coffee maker is also in the bathroom and tasted like vinegar. There is a restaurant down the road next to their golf course if you want breakfast or lunch. We didn’t go as it was kinda spendy.
Loved the rustic feel of the place. We had a room with a hot springs water filled hot tub on our deck and it was lovely. There is something magically about the water for sure. I felt so completely relaxed. We enjoyed a bath and wrap in the bath houses too. The old claw foot tubs were great. The staff at the hotel and bath house were kind and accommodating. The rooms are not fancy but the bed was super comfortable. Only draw back is there isn’t a restaurant at the hotel. There is one at the golf course clubhouse but that’s up the hill and open 7 am - 4 pm.
Under new (post Covid) ownership and management. Out in the countryside - though the traffic in the Gorge can still be heard it is muted. Large rooms with good furnishing except there is no surface near the sink to put the toiletries. They provide the standard 2 pillows but rather than the standard 1 large and 1 small they only provide 2 large - I had to use their bathrobes as a pillow. It was good value mid-week - not so good on the weekend.
Very nostalgic as we have been here several times over the last 40+ years. The new cabins and pools were wonderful! So glad they havent changed the bathhouse. the soak and wrap were wonderful as always as was the massage, one of the best I have ever had.
The staff was lovely, but other than that, there isn’t much positive to say about our weekend. We arrived on Friday and when We got to our room, there were ants on the tables and in the shower. The front desk was great about it it and got us another room. We get there and there are no robes so we have to call up to the front desk to get them. Not a huge deal but we couldn’t go to the mineral pool til we had them. There is also a huge rip in the carpet that is a tripping hazard. We get to the pool and the chlorine is so strong it was burning our eyes. The next morning we get coffee and when we get back neither of our room keys work. We drive back up to the office and have to get new keys. Back to the room. This happened again after we soaked in the pool in the morning. Had to go get new keys twice in 3 hours. We head to our massages. We booked hot stone but neither of us received any hot stone work. They did take the hot stones off the bill. The attendant in the bathhouse was horrible and snapping at everyone who walked in. Our massage therapists were fantastic. There was also no hot water in the hotel room. It was just a horrible weekend all around and I will never go back. We left a night early. Politely asked front desk for any sort of refund due to all the chaos. They said no. I understand.
I just visited for the day, and used the hourly pool rather than the bath house. Had I realized the pool was chlorinated and not hot spring water, I would have made another choice. If you dont mind the chlorine, its nice. The grounds are beautiful as well, and while I didnt see the rooms in person this time, I will likely stay here at some point in the future.
Horrible customer service I have come here a couple times and they have always been so rude and they don’t mention the fact that you have to be over 18 to come use the hot springs so any families that want to come here just a side note children are not allowed. You have to be over 18, It’s also so hard to get into contact with them. Also booked a room for a hot tub and when we arrived they said it wasn’t on their files so we drove over an hour to be told that they didn’t book it correctly when we originally got ahold of them, they then told us if we wanted the hot tub it would be an upcharge of another $100+. The springs are nice but the customer service just sucks all around and the people suck and aren’t hospitable. I wish management would fix this, this was my last time coming here. The people here clearly hate their jobs. The bathhouse is probably the only place with good customer service and they do their job right
Nice mineral soaking pool and I love that they kept the original building on the property. Our private hot tub wouldnt come down from 105 degrees, which was hard to stay in. The bed was comfortable. The carpet was really stained.
Good relaxing mineral bath. Staff wraps you in towels afterwards. Not as wonderful as a traditional Japanese bath but good for once in a while.
I was in the area and a friend suggested I stop in for a bath and wrap. It was AMAZING!! No appointment needed. Loved the old time bath house soak in mineral water followed directly by a traditional bath house wrap. Including the shower after I was back on the road in about an hour and a half. I will definitely be back.
We went to hike to the hotsprings, its next to the river. The resort has developed it right on the bank facing the hotsprings. So about 30 rooms look down on the hotsprings. Most of the signs say no trespassing. So the resort charges $14/hour for the mineral springs and $30 for the gender specific single use bath house.
This place was an awesome stay and I would love to come back some day.I didnt get to try the indoor pool, bathhouse, or massage, but our room had a hot tub which was incredibly pleasant after long days of doing things. (Book your massages well in advance, folks!)The decor is charming, especially in the check-in building. The staff are friendly and helpful, offering to fix a problem with the shower in our room soon after we reported it. The view is stunning, and the area is quiet and peaceful.Because its pretty secluded, dont expect to get good reception. The Wi-Fi isnt bad, though, and its free. There is a nearby restaurant next to the golf course thats really excellent. While it is within walking distance, the walk is a pretty strenuous one up a steep hill on a curvy road with no sidewalk. I would definitely recommend bringing a vehicle if youre staying here, given that Lyft does not service this area. (I am unsure about other ride share services.)
Beautiful get away! We loved the baths and the wraps after! Upgraded everything. Big improvement from several years ago. First class service. Would recommend a little table next to the bathroom sink for your items.
We had a great stay. After reading reviews I did not have my sights set high, and was pleasantly surprised. Everything was nice, room was clean, hot tub on the deck was hot, view was great. All in all a great stay. While youre here, check out the brewery for dinner, and breakfast at the clubhouse is amazing.
We used to go to Bonneville Hot Springs. On this first trip to Carson, we had a corner room w hot tub on the deck. We drank our coffee in the tub watching the sun rise. We hurried thru our hike just so we could watch the eagles from the tub while we had evening cocktails and watched the sun set. Call me crazy but the water is different. I remember Bonneville water feeling effervescent. This wss definitely still tho my skin felt amazing for days after.
We called ahead of time to make sure the wait time for soaking in the tubs wasn’t outrageous. The front desk staff member told us it could be 30min-1 hr so we proceeded to drive 45 minutes out to enjoy a nice Sunday afternoon hot spring R&R. When we arrived at 2:30 they informed us that the bath house attendant called in sick! And they didn’t have anybody to assist us for a simple 50 minute soaking experience! How absolutely ridiculous! Super disappointing! The proper way to treat a guest that came so far out spending precious time and fuel ⛽️ $$$ is to offer some kind of compensation for not being properly staffed. I asked if they could give us some kind of discount for not being able to provide a basic service that they advertised, and they acted powerless and irresponsible , “it’s not our fault someone called in sick while you were driving over” I asked to speak to a manager and she replied “ he’s not going to do anything “ super lame attitude and unprofessional!and If that attendant position is so crucial for people to have a bathhouse experience, why don’t they have a trained back up person to cover on site?I would love to speak directly to the owner or manager about hiring staff that can actually provide proper customer service to the people so the vibes can be raised to meet a “retreat like” healing atmosphere the way a hot spring / spa environment ought to be. 😇☮️🙏
We arrived on a Friday afternoon, not too many people around expected as the weathers been dumping snow. Staff was friendly, informative on my questions about the area and history and the mineral pool was amazing!! We rented a standard room, cozy, clean and comfortable bedI checked out the bath house too but we didn’t take the up charge service, just soaked in the therapy pool, but more then once during our stay. Great quiet getaway, I’ll definitely go back and explore more of the are with this spot being my base.
The amenities were fine, but it was the worst customer service from management that Ive ever experienced. My wife and I made reservations for a couples massage for Saturday at 2PM. We have an email proving this was the date and time we requested. Something got jumbled on their end and they had us on their calendar for Friday at 2PM. We work until 5 on Friday and never would have scheduled a massage at this time. When the mistake was realized (Friday evening when we were checking in), instead of working with us to make it right they told us it was our fault, that they had confirmed the appointment with us and that we would have to pay for the missed massages. This is despite us showing them an email proving we requested a Saturday massage (not Friday) and that we never confirmed an appointment. The problem was compounded by the fact that the manager doesnt work weekends (the busiest time of the week for a hotel) and the staff available arent able to handle any situation outside of routine procedures. In the end we were forced to pay for one of the massages that we never scheduled and we never received. I dont agree with this but they had my credit card on file so there was nothing I could do to stop them from charging it.Also, the shower curtains are too short and water gets everywhere when you take a shower.
Amazing natural beauty and hot springs mineral water but TERRIBLE customer service.Unfriendly, rude, and condescending staff and management. We drove 45 minutes only to find that the bath attendant had called off and the bath house was closed as a result. When we asked for a complimentary bath house visit for a later date, which seemed totally reasonable given the circumstances, the staff members became defensive and rude. They said that the management would not permit such a reasonable consolation for our troubles. Very unfair and poor treatment of their patrons. They should take reservations. They should also have someone on hand at all times to cover a bath house attendant shift so the bath house remains open during all stated business hours. If they are not able to do that and the bath house closes, then they should compensate people like us, who went far out of our way to use a service that was unavailable as advertised. That would be good business and customer service. Unfortunately, thats not the type of business practice Carson Hot Springs chose in this instance.
We were looking for somewhere off the grid and this is it. Loved the tubs and spa services, which were well-coordinated to help us take advantage of it all in one, relaxing afternoon. Beds were comfy, rooms were basic, connectivity a welcomed challenge. Maybe it was a fluke, but there werent a lot of kids around, which was surprisingly pleasant.
Awesome 👌 awesome place.Mineral Baths , wraps, massages. Got the room with hot tub on the balcony. Its a new spa tub...spacious. the tub is filled with Mineral water from the hot springs. Superb!!!
Under new management. We stayed 2 nights in a standard king room which was clean and comfortable. The hot pool was just okay - it is chlorinated which kinda sucks. The real gem of the visit was the traditional bathhouse soak and linen wrap. That is a separate $30 per person charge but it’s well worth it. We will definitely be back!
Charming, rustic (in the good way), and utterly relaxing. Great location and really exceptional staff. We got a room with a balcony hot tub and couldnt have been happier with it.
I loved the 105 water and the plunge pool included. I was concerned when I called.m as they said the hot water was not included. They have other services bla bla bla. I had jet lag so I was a bit annoyed with the 8:00 am Laundry cart and the electric blower as it were a task that must be done then and only then. Number one keep the guest asleep:( again beds and water amazing.
We go for an hour soak often in the pool. Havent been to tubs in a few years, but loved them. Wish we could bring the teenager to enjoy too, but understand Carsons leaning towards comfort and luxury.
The drive along the Lewis and Clark Highway offer stunning views of the landscape along the Columbia River. The resort is nestled into the side of the hill overlooking hills and mountains. The rooms run smaller and aged. The local eating options are limited, and if the club house is closed at the resort, you need to plan to drive somewhere to eat. The pool for the hot spring is nice and warm. There is also the pool that is like 70 degrees that you can go into if you start to get too warm. There is a faucet where you can get water direct from the hot spring that has quite the sulfur smell to it. The cost was very reasonable for a romantic winter escape away.
Got the king bed with balcony hot tub room. Basic but cute hotel room, the draw for me was the hot springs water hot tub and that was a great unique experience, I dont know of anywhere else with that. Personally I wouldnt come for the non-individual springs, it has regular hotel pool vibes, but the personal patio hot tub one is great. Next time Ill try the tub and wrap thing it sounded very relaxing.
This review only pertains to the pool area. The pool adjacent to the hot bathing pool was only luke-warm. We were led to believe it would be cold, in order to cool off after the hot pool. The floors were filthy and grimy. The bathrooms were disgusting, poorly lit, and clearly not maintained or cleaned. The shower used to rinse off before entering the pool had a broken handle. Every time somebody needed to use the shower, the handle had to be picked up off the floor and re-installed. Considering the positive reviews this facility receives and the entrance fee charge, we expected much better.
Rooms arent the best and the staff customer service is hit and miss but always fun to stay there. Lots of history at this resort. The main building is a well known haunted place. Hot springs building is a must. Just hanging out in the back lobby is cool.
Very nice and friendly personnel. One of our group had to wait a very long time before being wrapped and became very cold as a result. For her it was not a nice experience, for the other person it was very nice, she enjoyed it a lot. Parking is easy, the facility seems nice and clean.
We arrived at 3:25 to check into our 4pm reservation. They will absolutely not let you have a room key till 4pm on the dot. Make sure to plan accordingly. Thankfully they had a very small, not wheelchair accessible, lobby bathroom. We had a beautiful view from our second story room however, we noticed there are no elevators. There are no restaurants or markets in the area at this time. We were able to find a dollar general. The area is breathtakingly beautiful. Noone under the age of 18 is allowed in the pool area. The lighting in some of the areas common rooms were a bit dark as well as the rooms at this time of photos.
What a Beautiful Hidden Gem! First things first, The Staff, Priscilla is without question, one of the most Beautiful Human Beings Ive ever met!! Elaina amazing as well. Just being treated with kindness and compassion, when I needed it most! The Mineral pool was regenerating. Rooms are well appointed and Clean! Only booked for one night, but couldnt tear myself away. Dont Miss this Place and the beautiful ❤️s of those who work there! Look forward to my next stay!
Had a wonderful time. Enjoyed the hot natural mineral water in the pool. It was very relaxing, plus having a hot tub in the room was fantastic. Would definitely try to go back.
Will absolutely be back here. It’s so blissfully tucked away. The fire pit is outstanding. I stayed in a room with a tub and it was lovely and the frogs at night added to the chill ambience. Can’t beat the experience or the price for something so close to portland. Staff was friendly and incredibly helpful. I’ll be back for sure!
Sunday: Nice front desk employee. Great old time buildings on property + some modern. This trip: 2 nights, 2 people. Indoor soaking pool: amazing. Fire pit: great. Soak pool is the focal point. Spa treatment available for $$. Golf course up the hill. Never thought Id get into a giant mineral hot tub on a 90F day, but once youre in you understand. Tons of parking. No food on-site: Stevenson is near & hood river is a jaunt away. If you can, get a room with personal mineral hot tub on the deck. Views are mostly mountain & timber. Lots of osprey viewing. River is quite a bit below & not easily visible. Easy access off of WA SR14 just east of Stevenson. Check website for more info.
I went in having an open mind. The drive up was beautiful had a wonderful time before services started. Honestly thats the second star. What was supposed to be a relaxing treat turned out to be a nightmare. Maybe business has picked up more than they can handle. The staff in the bathhouse was running around like a crazy person, and so irritated and frustrated. The massage was the best part- different from any other massage Ive had, but it was nice. The soak and bath had me feeling like I was punished in an orphanage. There is no space. The robe didnt fit and there are no private places to sit and wait for your service. After the massage I was waiting for the bath, and the girl working yelled at me that I wasnt standing in the right place, and then yelled at me again to be quiet. After I cooked in the tub; I had a killer head ache and was trying to help myself to the Dixie cups of water; which was empty.. and then went for my wrap which felt like I was a poor version of a straight jacket. Once I was fortunate enough to leave and be reunited with my things I grabbed some cash to put in a cash envelope provided to me by the massage therapist- it had a card and his name in the envelope. I put it on the desk in the bathhouse, and the girl who yelled at me twice told me that I need to bring it to the front desk. I then walked there, and saw that same girl at the front desk.. I felt so much worse than I did when I arrived, and proceeded to throw up multiple times on my drive home. After tip I spent almost $200 and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had.
Horrible horrible customer service. My son became ill the day we were going to stay here. We reserved for 2 nights. The front desk rep would not budge on the cancelation policy and still charged us for one night. When there are emergencies, there could be a little more softness and understanding. They would be able to book the room as so many people are vacationing. Greedy.
Its is pretty. BUT and a big BUT. if you are like us and have young children please know as even said from the employee the fact that the hotspring is illegal to anyone under 18 is in small print that it needs to be made bigger. It ended up being not just our kids but another family as well having very sad and disappointed kids in the same 20 minutes. So I cant imagine how many others this has happened too. Beautiful resort if you were just a couple but with kids if you dont have the information we got as kids were standing at the pool side. It is a bit rough.
The springs were nice. Nice and warm. Just watch out for the colder water. It was quite cold. I love the location especially with the snow in the mountains. Great view and perfect for the springs
With reservations placed weeks in advance for 104 degree hot soaks and deep tissue massages it would gave been most helpful if the staff had notified us before we arrived that the pump to the hot pool was malfunctioning. The water was 80 degrees. We drove hundreds of miles for Thanksgiving and waited in an unheated lobby (yes, the heat was out also) for two hours for a manager to resolve our dilemma. There was no resolution. The manager Jason states theres new corporate owners since June 2022 and staff is not empowered buy a new pump, offer a free upgrade to a hot tub room, or to provide outstanding customer service. We were accused of wanting to kill the manager when we asked them to call him in. They said he would die in a car crash answering his phone and it would be our fault. The staff was quick to whine about their personal lives and to take advantage of an elderly Asian couple by taking their money and not telling them that the pump was out. The couple was finally refunded their money after they discovered the intentional misinformation. We finally canceled and left. We will never go back. They do not deserve even one star.
We had a relaxing tub, wrap and massage. My son said it was the best massage he’s had!
The carpets were really dirty, the King size bed a three really small pillows, the shower literally took over 5 minutes to get hot water, the toilet seat slipped from side to side. Staff wasnt overly informative. The hot springs was nice, but the pool itself needs some repair. We emailed the hotel to let them know, but they never even replied. Basically a glorified Motel 6. No resort at the resort. Visit was Oct 2022
Stayed in standard double queen room for two nights. Everything the check in staff told us was wrong.Gave us keys, was the wrong room luckily they didnt work as the barking dog didnt seem happy.Told us 25 complimentary soaks in the mineral spa during our stay due to issues with the pool. They meant a single 25min soak (there are three of us...). Additional soaks $30 each. Also when my wife tried to ask about how to use the complimentary soaks the first morning she got laughed at like she lost her mind.Told us massages needed to be booked a week in advance. Next day got three massages booked for the afternoon.Spiders in the room (caught several cobwebs to the face), heat pump filter was filthy. No counter in the bathroom, just a pedestal sink a toilet and shower.Plus side, showers were hot. Sink was too hot, small adjustment was scalding or ice.The attendant on the male side of the bathhouse when I visited was terrific. Very attentive, clear instructions about putting belongings in a basket and after my massage where I could shower and use the sauna.I heard numerous times about the womens side having issues, even overhearing the massage therapists winging it as the attendant because people had been waiting so long and the attendant was MIA.The massage therapists were the highlight of the trip, they were all very nice.Main stairs to the room were blocked for snow, meaning you have to walk up the icy road from the parking lot to the checkin building and back to your room.Tl;Dr: There are good staff and staff needing some more training.
One of the best weekends ever. Motel room was nice. Bath and pool house was amazing and so relaxing. Massage was great and the staff was also very friendly and attentive. I didn’t go golfing but the course looks good and I was told it does drain well with fast greens in the summer. It’s a country place so city folks when you come just relax and enjoy nature. Will be back asap. Thank you ❤️👍😉
In short, this is a budget hotel masquerading as a resort. I recommend staying elsewhere and buying a day pass to the hot spring pool.Lets start with the namesake feature, the hot springs. The spa area looks like it was nice about 20 years ago, but hasnt been kept up. Theres a crack towards the top of the pool/spa from the foundation settling. The single rinse-off shower handle is broken. And worse, it was dirty; No sign of any part of it being cleaned regularly. The only reason this is two stars is because the water was both soothing and hot, and a couple members of my party commented on how smooth and silky their hair was the next day.Now to the rooms. I was in a standard King in the C building - the upper building. Ive quite a list of complaints, so Ill make bullet point. The overall theme is this is a budget room at a resort price, and it was not clean.-The shower was dirty when we arrived. Not caked on dirt, we were able to remove it easily. This means the showers arent being cleaned.-The shower itself is a tiny single stall thing. I suppose this is fine since there is the spa on-premise, but Id prefer it be larger.-The pillows on the bed were a combo of these little square pillows about half the size of a normal one, and a couple couch pillows. Couch pillows arent good for hotel rooms because they cant be washed easily, and by the smell of it these had not been in some time.-There was no fitted sheet. They used a top sheet tucked under the mattress as a fitted sheet.-Stayover service is not given by default, but can be requested. We requested it the second day we were there to resolve some of the cleanliness issues. We didnt receive it. The next day we were told they only had one housekeeper and they didnt get to it. We requested it again, and once again didnt receive it the next day, being told the same thing.-There was no smoke detector in the room, just a spot in the ceiling where it should be. We found it unplugged and in a drawer on our last day as we were checking out.-The staircase on the south side of the C building is quite creaky, shaky, and its mildly disconcerting to climb or descend it.
The goodLove the setting. Loved the bath house and the pool. Employees in the bath house were so kind and inviting. The badI do not recommend staying in their rooms or making reservations. I wouldnt use gift cards or your debit cards. We were charged full price after providing a 100$ gift card. They informed us during check out that they have no record of a gift card we requested management. They assured us we that management would contact us. One week later and no response after multiple calls. I feel like they have completely dismissed this and kept the extra 100$
Wow! I am actually here now, laying in my bed, not wanting to touch anything! I have stayed in motel 6 hotels cleaner than this! Unfortunately, this is out in the middle of nowhere, and we arrived at 10pm after having to take a detour from forest fires burning on the way here!Unfortunately, the lady was leaving just as we showed up, but I believe there were no other rooms available, so probably no other option!! This is sad as I have been here other times and had a great experience! Gesh, I am considering canceling or spa appointments tomorrow! As we opened the door, the gut-wrenching smell of dirty feet smacked in the nose! The carpets are so disgusting with stains and stink! How embarrassing to put people up in a place like this and charge the rates you are charge! You should be ashamed of yourself! Bugs crwaled on us while we lay in the bed, and the sheets had a sticky feel like they werent clean!! The toilet seat rocked back into the wall as I sat on it, and the freezer was caked with ice build-up! There are also stains in the chairs! Its just incredibly disgusting!
Definitely not fancy, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. The hot springs are great. Weve staid here quite a few times, and well be back. The WiFi was much better than it used to be.
I visited Elk Ridge on 4/22. Food was fantastic! Loved the club, yum. Unfortunately the waitress with pink tips in her hair smelled like boozes, and to make our visit very uncomfortable another waitress was barking at her co-workers. To the point dining was uncomfortable. It was so disturbing that I’m not sure I want to go back. I could tell other employees were trying to avoid the tension. I felt bad for them having to work in a hostile work environment. I wanted to email my complaint and asked the waitress working for her name. Unfortunately the only email I could find was for reservation. So please let Shy know she ruined our family’s dinning and that treating others with kindness goes a lot further then being rude and demeaning. Thank you
Absolutely amazing place to stay! The beds were super comfortable, the rooms were cozy but was on the third floor so had to walk an extreme amount of stairs. I had a bigger truck with a 40 trailer and was able to make it to the hotel and had plenty of room to park. The staff was very nice and helpful, the original building had a lot of pictures and articles of the history of the hotel, very cool place. The bath house was busy so didnt make it over but it is included in the price of your stay. Will definitely be back!
Had a very relaxed bath & wrap today. Its a somewhat rustic environment, but the price reflects it, so no complaints from me on that. Really cool to have such a natural experience. Steve the attendant was very hospitable.Couple of notes - Going in, my wife & I didnt know that the service is separated by sex. Second, it takes a while for the sauna to warm up. Best to ask the attendant to warm the sauna while you have the bath.
Ive been going to Carson Hot Springs since 1975. Its changed owners several times. When went 2 yrs ago, lobby smelt like a cat litter box, tub area host very unfriendly etc, and felt uncomfortable. Decided to give it another try in Aug 2023 and joyed to see feel see has improved greatly. My wish is, that they dont make Carson baths a money maker as they are natural springs that should be shared not just by the rich.
You get what you pay for. The room was a little smelly- old hotel kinda smelly. The lobby/office area smelled like feces- very off-putting. The staff was nice and very helpful. They give you a mini-fridge in your room but no microwave. I recommend bringing some snacks and bottled water. The area is stunningly beautiful and there are many hikes and sites to see. There are also some great places to eat in Carson and Stevenson.Im not convinced Ill stay here again. Its not the worst and not the best- mediocre, I guess.
This a review of the pools only. Two pools-one warm/hot, the other a cool/cold water plungeGood-Bad: they do 2 hour soaks. Great for locals, but sadly it can get crowded… think the local pool on a hot summer day…Good: definitely mineralized, my hair can attest to it.Bad: staff was really a miss. They have cool soaking tubs that are exclusively for wraps… but no sign up to inform you. For which you are promptly chewed out by the bathhouse attendant…. who sadly looks like a hardened 20 year old…I’m staying, so the use of the pools is included but the staff came into the women’s bathroom demanding to check guest bracelets —specifically of women that had headscarves, saying something about people reusing bracelets. I was so embarrassed for them… but thankfully these ladies held their own, politely but firmly.Overall-meh not sure if it’s worth it given The Society is nearby… provides same amenities, no fuss, but you can expect policies up front and they adhere to the “spa” feel albeit with a hipster vibe.I’m sad … I really wanted to like this place … who doesn’t love natural hot springs without the trek
I have been here before & loved it. I would have loved it this time but I hated my massage. I have never wished for a massage to be overwith before, until now. I believe his name was Greg. The hot mineral tubs are awesome
Don’t spend your money here right now.Walked into the office on my birthday to notice the room full of irritated customers who were waiting for hours to check in.One guest at the counter was very upset as the silly front desk teenage clerk kept repeating the same sentence stating the pool was closed and people would have to wait for their rooms as they were short staffed. The pool is closed?!? This is the primary reason we came. The rooms are not discounted for the pool exclusion. So, we paid $165 for an extremely basic room with no access to the hot spring? And on top of that there is no discounts or refunds because the website states that the pool was closed and the management has no further responsibility to make guests aware until they arrive for their stay.Totally unacceptable. This place was great when it was owned locally. Not anymore, it’s operated out of state and there is no actual manager on duty.
The property, while dated, is beautifully nestled into a hillside that makes it quite peaceful...and the hot spring pool is top notch.Had an issue with housekeeping, however, the GM reached out and apologized and remedied so giving a 5/5. Mistakes happen, its how businesses handle them that sets them apart.
The hot springs were great. That cold plunge pool is the star of the show!
Beautiful spot with historic mineral spring baths and pool! It was worth the extra splurge to book a room with a private hottub on the deck. Rooms have TVs, Wi-Fi, refrigerators, and comfortable beds! Some suites have full kitchens. The massage therapists are also great. There is a sauna and showers in the bathhouse. Breakfast and lunch are available at the gold course restaurant.
Took a trip with a friend and this place was nothing like what we expected. The clawfood tubs inside what they call the Bathhouse, made me laugh. I feel like it looks like a shed with tubs and curtains around them. Not what I call a spa experience. The pool area is basically like a hotel pool and the large pool is the hotspring and the smaller pool is what they call the cold pool. The cold pool was not really cold. This place would be so much better if it was outside or didnt have a top. They need to add buckets of ice to the cold pool as the water was warmer than hose water. This place was still fun and we felt great the rest of the day and even hiked Beacon Rock afterwards. Two changing rooms are at the end of the pool room and there is a open shower and bathrooms.
Absolutely loved this place. Nestled up in the hills above the Columbia Gorge, the scenery and surrounding nature was so soothing. Our room looked right out to the Wind Mtn. The best part of this resort is it has a historic casual relaxing atmosphere. Our midweek stay was very quiet. The hot therapy pool was so easy to get in and out of (wheelchair accesible), the massages were excellent and all the little details like fire pot, chairs on hotel balconies and comfortable / clean rooms made us want to stay longer.
This used to be a very special place for me to come to with family and friends. There used to be warm kind friendly familiar faces that worked at the counter and in the bathhouse. You could take a hot bath in the bath house and somebody wouldn’t come and bother you 15 minutes after you got in asking if you were ready to get out and they didn’t force you to get out 20 minutes after you got there. There used to be more toilets and they used to be more showers in this establishment before it got remodeled. It used to be a place where you could come and relax for a reasonable price. This is the kind of place now where they leave one frazzled person working at the front desk to manage what seems like the entire property. That one person is always answering phone calls whether it’s one of the many people staying in the motel or somebody calling to ask questions about staying there or maybe they’re just checking somebody in for a hot bath or a soak in there soaking pool. The prices this place charges for all of its amenities that it wants you to come enjoy should suffice them being able to pay for ample staff to serve the people that are coming there to give them their money. Also if they offer you a card to keep track of your soaks so you can get a free soak hold onto that card yourself and have them stamp it and then keep it with you. We had at least three baths that didn’t get marked on our card even though we requested a punch each time we went in and it took us a lot longer to get our free bath then it should have. Also even though they have a soaking pool they have no kind of a device to keep track of how warm the soaking pool is which means sometimes it can be a lot cooler and they have no way of knowing unless you tell them. It seriously looks like one person at the desk is running the whole show by them self and that management is hiding behind this person and never around or available to assist in anyway. There is no accountability at this place. You get what you get.
The sheets were clean, the bed was soft, and overall look of the room was tidy. However, we noticed ants all over the room which made us weary. The closest food was 10 min away and we stayed on a Sunday so everything was closed and had to scrounge for something at the local grocery store for dinner, not ideal. We expected a resort stay since we were staying at a place that literally has the word resort in the name of the place and it ended up looking more like a Motel 6. The TV was at least 15 years old with grainy, stretched/wide-screen quality. The mineral pool was nice but its essentially a large swimming pool turned into a hot tub - nothing special. We drove 4 hours to stay there so we were excited to get some sleep despite how hot our room already was (in the 80s). Shortly after we had fallen asleep, the power went out, along with the AC. The power was out for a good hour and a half and we were dripping in sweat. We were so hot that we actually felt ill. It was miserable to say the least.I reached out to the hotel and have yet to hear back from them. Customer service is not a strong suite for them apparently. I would not recommend staying here, save your money.
At $350 per night for a room with a private hot tub, I was surprised that the staff refused to fix our inoperable hot tub during the stay. The tub drained unexpectedly, on its own, and the staff insisted it was because I had drained it (I had not--the drain is at the bottom of the tub). When visiting the community pool as an alternative, I found, alongside other frustrated guests, that the water was lukewarm. Apparently, they had just repaired it and it hadn’t reached the desired temperature.Overall, I expected better service and hotter hot springs.
My wife and I went for the 1st time recently and it was a great experience! Read a lot of reviews and did my research. The place is a spa but not like a typical one you would think. Not all fancy and such. That in our opinion was actually nice touch. It had tons of character and was still in very nice shape for the age of the resort. We got a King Suite with hot tub on the balcony and the hot tub is an absolute must! Its filled with the hot spring mineral water and was the highlight. Overall would highly recommend this for a nice, relaxing experience and only an hour out of Portland. See you again soon.
After all the stressful times in life….This simple hot mineral bath and wrap was a great way to recharge. Reasonably priced, walk in service between 9AM-7PM during the week for this service. Or on Saturday. Not sure about Sunday. The staff are great The main building and mineral bath house hasn’t changed much in over 30 years. Which for me nostalgic. This was my mother’s favorite place. I believe this is where she learned to properly tuck me in at night😊. My skin and hair are softer!
When they heard we wanted to bring our great dane puppy with us. The ladies at the front desk booked us in the perfect room. Service is amazing, clean room, very comfortable setting which allowed us to relax and enjoy our time in Carson city, WA. Thank you
The hotel is living off its reputation for having hot mineral water and not paying attention to regular room maintenance. Nice staff, great location. We stayed for 3 nights and paid big bucks to have a room with a hot tub on a private deck, which was awesome. The issues were numerous: two burnt out lights, phone in the room didnt work, there was a small refrigerator but we had to request a microwave, the cover on the hot tub was barely holding together and there was no mechanism to move it on and off the tub despite the posted instructions, and the ice machine on our floor was busted. I expected better for the cost. We explored the local community and really enjoyed the people and a couple of restaurants. We had a similar positive experience in Stevenson. And the Gorge itself was spectacular.
We stopped by just to do a bath soak and wrap. We did not stay overnight. Overall the experience is wonderful and relaxing. Tubs are clean and staff is pleasant. Highly recommend taking a soak here! Definitely will be looking into staying in the future!
Peaceful, restorative getaway in the Columbia River Valley. Wonderful views, saw birds and a bald eagle from our balcony. I cannot recommend the massages enough. Cannot wait to go back.
Great place to relax. Especially with your own hot tub!
Room was clean, but average. Huge spider in my room (of course not anybodys fault) but maintenance came right up and killed it which was my favorite part of the stay. He didnt even hesitate to run in and save my life! So for that reason alone I wouldnt hesitate to stay again. If youre getting in past 9pm bring food. There is nothing near by.
We came here thinking that we would have a relaxing Valentine’s Day getaway, but it was anything but that. Our king bed room was very-small, and the accent wall was painted a dark mustard yellow; the furnishings are all dated late 80s/90s. The carpet and couch had stains. The bathroom had ants crawling on the floor, the toilet bowl had not been cleaned (poo splatters) and there were greasy finger prints on all the mirrors. The hot tub had noticeable brown build up in crevices. We were not given enough toilet paper, and had to ask for more. After about 5 minutes of us first getting in to the tub, we could hear a man periodically screaming from somewhere, which was very unnerving. Our upstairs neighbors were very loud, stomping and hollering all night, and then started right back up in first thing in the morning. They were also smoking weed on their balcony and the smoke came down thick in to our tub area. The price was outrageous for what we got, and we left tired and disappointed. We will not be back. .
The bathhouse is the main event here. YOU CAN COLD PLUNGE!You dont have to stay at the resort to use the bathhouse. Buy a ticket (~$30) at the front desk and you get an hour starting from when you enter your tub. They have showers, dry sauna and a linen body wrap service too. Bring your own sandals; everything else provided (towels, robe). Swimsuit optional if youre bashful. Your street clothes (and valuables) go into a basket which stays in your possession the entire time.Call ahead or just step into the bathhouse to let the attendant know youd like a cold plunge bath drawn if one isnt already (my attendant was Steve, who provided outstanding service during our stay. Definitely TIP STEVE!). Contrast therapy goes much faster using a hot bath instead of a dry sauna. Its extremely invigorating. You get your own hot bath; the cold plunge is shared.Apart from the bathhouse, they have the hot spring pool room. I found this pool unpleasant and did not use it. Even with both doors propped open youre sitting in hot water breathing hot-chlorine-air. That pool would be WAAAY better if they converted it to a covered outdoor pool. There are two pools and one is a cold plunge but its like 76 degrees F. Should be 60 tops imo.The resort rooms could use a face-lift. Would be nice if they added a hook to hang towels or a robe on the inside of the bathroom doors. Wifi is a bit spotty. Room lighting is all bright white for some strange reason. If you stay during cold weather, definitely book a room with a hot tub on its balcony. Lounging in hot mineral water breathing frigid air feels freaking amazing and you can listen to the crickets and river. Also more private for the bashful among you.Good dining nearby: Crosscut Espresso and Deli for breakfast, Backwoods Brewing Co for lunch or dinner. Backwoods shares a building with a grocery store. If staying, book through their website. They offer discounts to active duty, veterans, seniors (55+), and AAA members. You also get a lower rate if you pay at the time of your booking and give up the option to cancel. If you book through a third party (like Expedia) they will not make changes to your booking.
Very nice bed, good room, plenty of space. Refrigerator but no microwave, bring your laptop or tablet, no movies on the TV. Beautiful setting. They have a hot pool, a cool pool and you can sit out on the patio. There’s a gas bonfire. The sulfur soak in long old fashioned tubs and dry wrap are well worth it.
The gal in the bath house was amazing. Super helpful, friendly, and had everything down. She did her job well in trying to keep those who werent respectful of the rules. Like no talking or taking pictures.
Enjoyed an amazing weekend at Carson Hot Springs Resort. Quiet, peaceful, romantic and relaxing. Will be returning for sure. Time moves slowly here, and the entire resort feels like it is wrapped in a beautiful nostalgia. Staff was helpful and responsive.Lodging: Rustic but very comfortable. The bathroom in our room was recently remodeled, everything was very clean. We had a king room with hot tub, and it was very comfortable. Our room was on the first floor, but I think I would ask for an upper floor next time to have a bit more privacy (however the bottom floor was still very private). The hot tub was filled with the mineral springs water, and felt so good. We spent a lot of time just relaxing in the water on the patio. Nice toiletries, comfortable bed and sheets. Birds flying over the river below, sounds of the river, peaceful views of trees. Perfect.Spa: The bathhouse is a charming, almost time travelling experience. Like visiting a luxurious 1920s spa that has been kept updated and beautiful. The attendant was kind and helpful. I did a bath and wrap, which was a very rejuvenating experience, highly recommend. The hot mineral water is pumped directly into a huge clawfoot tub and is incredibly relaxing. For the wrap you lay on a cot and the sheets are wrapped over you, and a cool cloth is placed on your head. Really helps to get the benefit from the bath. Both of us had massages, the therapists were highly skilled and the massage area was very nice. I visited the pool but didnt spend much time there because we had our own hot tub, but the pool was also very nice and has a cold plunge option (which is 89 degrees, not really cold except compared to the hot mineral water in the main pool).Things to know:-Food: The golf course restaurant wasnt open when we were there, and there isnt food on site (no breakfast, coffee in room). Bring your own food is my recommendation, so you can soak in the resort and relax without having to leave. Our room had a nice sized mini fridge. The staff made a great recommendation for a brewery restaurant in town, and the food there was great (and had leftover pizza!). Theres many restaurants in Stevenson too, 10 minutes down the road.- I had cell service, texting but no internet which was actually really nice. There is satellite wifi but its not fast, recommend just disconnecting from the internet and relaxing. Not the place to work from.-I wouldnt recommend this for kids. You have to be 18+ to use the pool and bathhouse. Nothing for kids to really do. Better for a romantic couples weekend or a friends retreat.Location: About an hour from Portland, really convenient. Easy driving, not hard to find.Rustic: This resort was built in the 1920s and had been kept updated, but not replaced. Lights take a second to come on at times, and some signs of wear on the patio but nothing broken, no bugs inside (some mosquitoes outside but it is that time of year, not excessive). Dont expect modern luxury, but do expect charm and comfort.Overall, highly recommend. Cant wait to go back! The mineral water is truly a unique experience.
Very impressed w the room and loved having a private balcony hot tub. Bed was very comfortable. Would recommend getting a king suite with the private tub. Very spacious and clean. Hot tub is filled w hot springs water, so you can experience the water without going to the public area. Such a relaxing night! Hope to do it again soon.
My daughter and I just left the spa. We drove an hour looking forward to what was described as a relaxing mineral soak. After a few minutes a machine noise drowned out the spa music. changing the atmosphere. And the tub was so long that I had to hold on to the sides to keep from fully submerging. $40 for gas and close to $60 later we left early knowing we would not be back. Darn. This was one we waited and planned to do
The water is amazing! if you want a beautiful spa resort this isnt it! BUT if you like the outdoors and enjoy hot springs this is a great place. We stayed 3 nights, be aware that the rooms are not luxurious and I question the cleanliness, there was a sock under our bed and the remote was missing. When I asked the front desk about the missing remote she told me that she didnt know where it was and she was too busy to find one....uummm OKAY. I was a bit shocked at how poor the customer service was (we also had a rude person check us in as well). With all of that said, I realize how hard it is to find employees at this point in time so I dont hold it against them at all. As I stated, I liked it because I was there for the hot spring experience so it was worth it for me.
What a cool place with rich history. The bath house was kept neat n tidy and the attendee of the bathhouse was such a hustler and so sweet. She really put love into her work. I know its an older hotel, and that doesnt bother me, but for goodness sakes wash the windows, clean it up a bit. Get some cool furniture in there and make it welcoming. You got an awesome business of running a historic hotsprings. Fix it up, clean it up and people will be flocking to it and giving it 5 stars. Where to begin? Clean it from top to bottom, inside and outside. Then do maintenance projects. Hv a good day:)
Decent spa resort built around historic hot springs. I didnt try the bath house, but the common pool was excellent. Its basically a pool-sized hot tub that will thoroughly melt you. There is a small cooler water pool next to it if you need to cool off.The rooms were plain but decent, and very nice and warm in winter. There is no food in the main resort complex. Its in the golf house up a steep hill near the main road. You could walk it in less than 10 minutes, but it would definitely feel like exercise. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I had a pleasant stay. Rooms come with towels and robes for the pool, but bring your own sandals for walking around.
An overpriced Motel 6 - actually I think a Motel 6 would have better rooms. There isnt even a view that makes this place worth it. We had to treat our belongings before coming home for bed bugs to make sure we didnt bring anything from the state of the room.Just to name a few things wrong:1. Spiders and bugs throughout the room; no cleaning was done.2. No window screen on the windows, couldnt even open it.3. Our bathroom door didnt even shut! You literally had to lift the door to get it to shut all the way.4. The shower wasnt even secure, wouldnt surprise me if it caved in or cracked soon.5. Mold everywhere .6. Stained towels and sheets (with old blood!)7. Towel rack was practically falling out of the wall.8. There is barely any cell service and practically no Wi-Fi - terrible reception on the cable TV when it manages to connect.9. Lights flickering constantly, that is, if you could even get them to turn on.Sleeping in your car would be more comfortable and probably more clean than staying at this hotel. I wish we would have listened to the other lower star reviews. They were spot on with the state of the hotel.
The staff at the Carson Hotel are exceptional people. The owners and the hotel policies are the absolute worst. The rooms are average. They charged our cards $100 for incidentals because it is policy. Well there are no incidentals, you cant even buy a water. They closed the mineral hot baths and all we had access to was a heavily chlorinated pool. There is no reason to stay at this place. The owners are rude and refused to speak with us. The owners also have a bad reputation in the general community. Just dont stay here.
It was my first time staying at this hotel. The staff were amazing here! We arrived on January 5th in the evening and had to leave within minutes of checking in due to a family emergency. The staff I spoke with, Elaina was absolutely wonderful. She was professional, courteous, and very sweet. I will be back thanks to Elainas excellent service!
Rustic and historic hot springs with friendly and considerate service. Went on a Saturday evening and was pleasantly surprised at the good service in the bathhouse. Felt pure zen all wrapped up after a 30 minute soak in the therapeutic hot spring water. Don’t expect luxury spa, this is a rustic hot springs bathhouse without unnecessarily frills and affordable rates. Enjoyed a short walk to the icy river. I will definitely be back!
It was what it sounded like for my experience: a very large natural hot tub that at this time of year wasn’t overwhelmed with people. $10 is a bit steep I think for an hour in the pool, but it was relaxing for me and enjoyable. The facility is old, but well maintained. Go to enjoy some solitude and hot soaking with cold dips between.
Lobby sign said massage times were available, but on inquiry, none were. Dining service was closed due to covid - luckily I had brought some road food with me. Hot pool was crowded, so I opted for the silent, single-sex baths - while serviceable for bathing, the rows of tubs separated by curtains vibed more like a hospital ward with new age music than a relaxing spa space, and the 25 minute time did not allow for extended meditation. Lodge room felt like a low quality Motel 6 with thin walls, live wiring protruding from uncovered electrical sockets and a loudly leaking shower that had kept the bathroom floor boards continuously wet for so long they were beginning to rot. Site is very beautiful, but the business seems to be struggling to maintain operation and the overall experience was definitely not worth the $300 it cost for an overnight stay and brief bathtub soak.
Stayed for three nights. Enjoyed a hot tub on the patio of our room, the tub/wrap experience, and a massage. Its not fancy, but its still luxurious. Unpretentious luxury. I think the tub/wrap experience was amazing, and what the place is known for. Make sure to take the time to experience that! And the mashed are out of this world of you have the budget for them!
Wow... what a gem 💎 What a weekend!! This historic resort began is 1878 and has a fully amazing 1920’s rustic simplicity to the bath house. The claw foot tubs, wrap beds, sauna, massage rooms, facials with candles and sea salt lamps to add to the magical glow.... the mineral waters have a unique earthy smell (even the hot tub on the balcony for the rooms is filled with this magical water), it’s such a wonderful and different experience than chemical filled water that’s everywhere else! I literally had deep bruises that faded and disappeared from just our first night soaking!!! I wish everyone could go and enjoy the magic of this! My fiancé and I enjoyed our couples massages and just unplugged and enjoyed the weekend 💜 Even the food at the restaurant (which is at the golf course) was delicious! The staff was friendly and very accommodating. For anyone wanting something different, relaxing, one of kind experience go here and experience the magic. We cannot wait to come back!
Hidden gem for health and relaxation also has breakfast and lunch available
We had a lovely time, the hot spring jacuzzi was amazing, and the room was very nice. The surrounding town had some lovely stores and restaurants. There was a small mix up with scheduling and I was left in the bathhouse alone and my masseuse was not notified. However, she more than made up for the small inconvenience and provided additional time on her own. It was undoubtably the best massage I ever received. Melissa will bring me back again to this hotel all on her own, just for a wonderful massage. She was also one of the nicest and most pr5ofessional people I have me.
We love this place for the olde fashioned tub soaks in mineral water in the Bathhouse and for the newer indoor Mineral Therapy Pool. (Think pool-sized hot tub with adjoining cold plunge.)The Bathhouse is NOT co-ed and is clothing optional. The large soaking pool is co-ed and swimsuits are required. Also important to note that the pool is for 18+We have not yet signed up for a massage or stayed over night in the hotel but both are on our someday list. For people accustomed to fancy spas, this does not have fancy spa vibes. More your-favorite-aunt-runs-this-amazing-place-in-a-small-town vibes.
This was a self care weekend for a stressed out medical worker. We booked a suite with the spring water fed hot tub on the private deck. The room was clean and the staff was freindly. There where a couple of maintnance issues but they addressed them quickly. I got a Massage from Katy who was very skilled with great hands. I am leaving here relaxed and renewed. Will be coming back again soon.
If you ignore the old run down look of the place, the bathhouse is where it’s at. Always friendly employees and the water is hot hot hot. I love it. So relaxing. And the wrap, bring some tissue or cotton ball with oil since they don’t allow in the bath or on their towels, worth every penny. Stop at Skamania Lodge or the Bridgeside Grill by the Bridge of the Gods, (Oregon Side). Such a great self care plan :)
The rooms need a microwave but are clean and beautiful. Trails down to the river need to be reopened, hiking in the Gorge is a must. Pool amazing.
Had a pretty delightful stay! Room was was well appointed but needed some updates, the front door was open when we checked in, could hardly close it it without a struggle. Same with bathroom door! Seems if your gonna pay the steep price all of this should be in working order. Also kids under 18 are not allowed in soaking pools! Other than that hot tub was great!
My whole experience here was a bit chaotic. Check-in was in a building labeled St Martin hotel. There were many signs saying there were vending machines on other floors but I couldn’t find any vending machines. The hotel website advertised that that the mineral pool would be open until 8pm for hotel guests but it was already closed when I arrived around 7pm. I was excited to try the springs when they opened the next morning at 9am. I showed up the pool was closed for another hour due to renovations again. Due to a busy travel schedule I didn’t get to try any of the springs. Luckily I got to enjoy the hot tub the staff gave in a free room upgrade due to the closure. For this price, I would not stay at this hotel again. Although the rooms were clean and comfortable, the poor communication from the hotel about their ongoing renovations (could have posted an alert on their website) was disappointing.
The soaking pool was good. It is a small indoor pool. Nice warm water and the water made the body feel refreshed. However the attendant who was suppose to be there and later arrived was rude and unprofessional. She made the relaxing experience more stressful. Customer service on her part is lacking. It is a nice pool and kudos there. It is clean but a bit run down and could be improved. I give it a low rating due to the employee attendant. I wont go back as staying is costly for what it is. It could be a fantastic place. The scenery is beautiful and should utilize that to its fullest.
My partner and I had a pleasant experience here several months ago, and if things had ended there, I would not be posting a one star review. The problem came when, two months later, I was erroneously charged for an additional two nights when I had not booked any rooms. I was able to speak with Lana Morat, the general manager, who admitted that a mistake had been made and that she would look into it further and get back to me soon to discuss refunding my money.A few weeks went by and I hadn’t heard from her, so I called and the front desk people (who have been so incredibly nice and as helpful as they can throughout all of this) said she was in a meeting but the message would be passed to her. A few more days went by, I called again and was told again that she was busy but a message would be delivered. The sixth or seventh time I called, I was put through to her direct line and left a voice message.I have now called at least a dozen times over the past four months. I still have not heard anything back. The sad part is despite the erroneous charge, I had planned on going back because my initial experience there was enjoyable. But now I feel mistrustful because I’m clearly being avoided, even after assurances that I would be followed up with and after leaving untold amount of messages. I can’t in good conscience endorse this place, especially knowing that this could be happening to others.
This is based entirely on the bathhouse. I arrived on a Friday afternoon and felt as though I had the place to myself. The lady behind the desk was friendly and helpful. I requested a bath & wrap and was prepared to pay for the sauna but found out that was included. I walked down a short covered path to the womens bath house. This place is no frills but clean, comfortable and packed with tubs. I grabbed my rubber slippers, towel and a robe and was on my way. The tubs are a decent distance apart from one another and you are able to pull a curtain around your tub for privacy. The water is hot and stinky, just the way I like it. After a nice long soak I was guided to another area for my wrap. It was a miserable day and the rain was pouring. The back door was left open so I could hear the sounds of the rain. It was so peaceful! After my wrap I took a quick cold shower and was off to the sauna. Ive been to a handful of hot springs and this one did not disappoint. In fact, I am going back this weekend to enjoy the mineral pool. Could they update/upgrade a pinch? Sure. But I went for the mineral water and got exactly what I wanted.
This place is great for a quick getaway in the PNW! The staff is friendly and the bath house wrap is a must have experience. It’s a great way to release stress and the mineral hot spring water leaves a softer better feeling skin. My wife and I absolutely enjoyed every minute there. The hot spring pool is a great experience to have with friends and the view is breathtaking rain or shine. Definitely a hidden gem in the area! Definitely recommend it here:)
My boyfriend and I are local to the Gorge and decided to book a King Hot Tub room here for a night. We were a little skeptical because of some of the reviews but were pleasantly surprised! We actually didnt check out the bathhouse so cant speak to that but the private hot tub room was amazing. Sitting on the deck amongst the trees and listening to the rain was the perfect way to spend an evening. Some reviewers described the rooms as rustic and I would say theyre comparable to a 2-star hotel (theyre fine and ours was clean). Really the only thing rustic about them is the fact that we had very limited cell service and no wifi but thats exactly why we went there! The rooms are a bit pricey but we are definitely planning to return.
This place is awesome. Nestled up in the Columbia River gorge it is surrounded by the beautiful nature of the PNW. The resort seems like a wonderful stay but I only used the pool and got a bath/wrap. There is something magical about the water and what it does to your body soaking in those tubs. The pools are less appealing but a bath and a wrap is a MUST every time I visit the area. A great way to disconnect, unwind and recharge. And did I say that water is magical..?
Reviewing specifically on visiting the bath house. As a local to the area (yup, born and raised), As a customer service representative in both hospitality, sales, and food service for over 17 years I could not be more disappointed in the customer service of the front desk representative Brenda. Not only did she ignore me on my arrival and abruptly stop greeting me to continue speaking to het coworker and to attend to her dropping her baked good on her binder but she also made zero attempts to provide solutions or customer service while their merchant service processor was down. She just said that there is room for a bath wrap only if you have cash. Which that does happen. After working for the last 6 months 7 days week, and driving 90 minutes to visit the bath house I was super looking forward to the hot springs resort on my first day off and the last day I would be in the area for three months. To top it off when I called the golf course, they were having no problems with their merchant service. As a customer service representative, business owners and manager, I highly recommend providing customer service training to your front desk staff. Not only did Brenda provide the worst customer service I have ever had with you, she also failed to look for ways to generate revenue and promote customer retention. Please provide better experiences in the future to people, even if your credit card machine is not working, and look for solutions instead of providing a horrible experience so that I can continue recommending you to friends, family, and visitors.
My husband and I got a room with a king size bed, and a private hot tub (on the balcony) filled with hot spring water. The room is clean, there are enough towels for us to use; a small refrigerator, a cute coffee pot and TV are available. There is no microwave. Wifi is available, no password needed. We enjoyed soaking in our hot tub. The initial temperature of the water was 104F; the temperature was gradually down to 95F over our 2 night stay. The temperature control on the tub was not working. We did not ask staff to refill our tub with fresh hot spring water daily, that could be why water temperature in the tub dropped. There is no on site dining. We didn’t go to their golf course restaurant. Food from a local deli and food truck was pretty good.Overall we were satisfied with our stay at Carson hot spring resort.
Little more expensive fornanprivatenbath than ever before. I still really like it here yet the cost will for sure delay my next visit. The tubs were clean showers floor and linens all very good. Staff in the bath house was delightful. Fro t desk girl could for sure use a smile instead of crabby girl attitude. Still a rejuvenating peaceful place.
Quiet, relaxing, in need of some updates. Got a King Suite and it was absolutely enormous! Was practically an apartment! Im over 6 foot and easily could lye down in the giant bathtub. The hot tub on the porch was plenty big as well and we had a lovely view of the side of a foothill (advertised as a mountain...not a mountain). Huge king bed that easily could sleep 3. Quaint little kitchenette with a typical mini fridge. The lighting really needs an update and there was some minor cosmetic damage to the walls. Nice quiet area with a pool, hot tub, large fire pit, and livyely view. Will definitely be back!
Wonderful Hot Springs pit stop! Pro Tip: bring your own towels if you don’t wanna pay for towels. The fee isn’t much but it does save you $5/towel. Will definitely be coming back! The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
Had the mineral water bath and wrap. Wonderful service. Very soothing environment. Highly reccommended. Had a massage a few days later. Again a great experience. Wonderful massage!
The soak and wrap is amazing. Rooms are okay
We came here for our honeymoon. We were bummed that the pool and bath house were closed. But the hot tub on the balcony of our room more than made up for it. And its absolutely stunning this time of year. Also wish there was a breakfast or a few more options for morning time. We had a great, very relaxing trip.
This is my second visit and Ive enjoyed them both. The staff is attentive and helpful, cost is mid range in my opinion and the options are solid. We couldnt get massages even though we called a week ahead of time but the soak, wrap, etc were fabulous.
I have went to Carson Hot Springs for years. Last year their was a miscommunication in regards to the timing of the bath, wrap and massage. None the less.... I did all 3 and enjoyed. I made a reservation for Sunday, October 30th, 2022. Drive time to Carson is about an hour and a half. I had specifically inquired as to the time to check in to do the bath, wrap and massage in that order. Upon arrival an hour and a half early (prior to massage) I was instructed they were out of water (how do they run out of water?) and could only have 4 people in the bathhouse at a time. I was told, you can do your massage and then the bath and wrap. The main reason I go to Carson is for the sequence of the bath, wrap and then massage. I requested a refund as I had another appointment after my previously scheduled timeline and couldnt reverse nor did I want to, my services. They would not refund my $$$. So, I went down the road to Skamania Lodge and had a 5 star afternoon. I am pretty sure I will never return to Carson. They have went downhill since the new ownership.
Its REALLY hard to have a tranquil, relaxing experience when guests and/or housekeeping is slamming doors all around you by 10AM. At some point when I was soaking in the private tub on the balcony in the morning, somebody was bailing or sweeping water from the balcony above me. Not the worst thing in the world but it reiterates the lack of attention to the peaceful atmosphere that Carson encourages. Too much focus on just the hot springs aspect, not enough on basic amenities. Didnt even have a microwave in my King suite at nearly $300/night. Ants crawling all over the bathroom. An abandoned broken down car in the hotel parking lot??I liked the tub on the balcony and the hike down to the river was cool. The staff was friendly too but I probably wont return.
Focus on the Spa, rather than hotel side. Room was OK, but all the towels were a little bit grey. As others have noted, the room has mini fridge and a coffee maker, but theres no microwave. And theres no food whatsoever. You get free coffee in the morning, but when youre in the middle of nowhere, foraging for breakfast is a bit of a challenge.
Clean rooms. Cozy beds and pillows. Plush robes and towels. Stellar views. Luscious lilacs. But the best was the hot springs. We did the bathouse and pool, and enjoyed each. The entire place feels very peaceful.Very nice staff there too, plus neat folks in the pools. What a gem!
If you know you know. My lady and i get a room here every couple years with a hot tub on the balcony. If I could smoke cigars in the hottub Id rate it a 5 star. This Is a different kind experience the bed is comfortable, its away from everything nice romantic escape, we usually get food and then go, we bring to go food to our room so we can stay in. This is not a 5 star hotel its a great experience. Its not about the room. Its the hot tub on the mountain side night sky get away.
Stayed here for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. Rooms were clean and comfortable, staff friendly and facilities good. Tge hotel is well positioned near the Columbia River for hiking. I did a mineral soak in the old bath rooms, and it was a great relaxing experience which left my skin feeling soft and new. My room had a hot tub on the balcony overlooking the forest, which was great to relax and soak in.
