Visited last weekend and had a blast. Bar staff were friendly and welcoming, as were many of the patrons. Pretty packed on a Saturday night, but we still got to play shuffle board, ski ball, and some card games. Overall great place, definitely excited to come back.
Usually a great bar. But If youre going to shoo someone away from the free popcorn, try to make it not seem so rude? Was that racism or were they having a bad day? I have brought over ten people to discover this bar and absolutely will not be back.
I had no idea this place was here until some friends brought me. The atmosphere is awesome and I love all the big games upstairs and board games downstairs. It sort of felt like a cross between Sidetrack and Reply.Big games upstairs include: Darts, Ski Ball, Pool, and a hand shuffleboard table. If I had one suggestion, I’d say the games upstairs are a bit bulky and intrusive on a busy weekend night. Especially the dart boards! Coming up the stairs, be careful not to walk straight through the throwing path as I almost did.
I went to Meeting House for a friend of a friend’s birthday party. Twice removed and being a straight girl, I was a little nervous about attending, however, it was good vibes all around. Perfect décor for selfies, good price drinks, pool tables, music, smoking bench outside. I will be returning for Sunday Social… Watch out Queens, I’m going to make you all my besties!!!5 FABULOUS Stars. Totes Recommend.
Update: took a star away for the owners responses. An open floor plan of metal and glass is going to have worse acoustics than other bars. It’s science.Original: During busy times the downstairs bartender gets overwhelmed and is super slow in getting drinks. Also the acoustics are horrible - if it’s busy it’s impossible to hear people talking
Want to start off by saying I love this place! Environment is great, I love the games and free popcorn, and I have never had a bad experience here until tonight. There was a specific bartender at the upstairs bar that made me and my girlfriend incredibly uncomfortable. He had red hair and was reading while bartending. First, he carded both me and my girlfriend at the upstairs bar even though we had already been cared to get in. This was not a big deal, just annoying because we had to go back to our seats to get our IDs out of our bags. During this interaction, he referred to my girlfriend as my “friend” even though it is very clear we are a lesbian couple. After we went back to our table and got settled in, he noticed we had a water bottle and made us open it and show him to prove that it was empty. This was completely innocent and we had just had water in it from spending our day in Andersonville. Not only this, but as we enjoyed our drinks and played ski ball, this man would not stop STARING at us. We noticed we were the only women in the upstairs part of the bar and he wasn’t treating any of the men there like this at all. It felt like we were being infantilized and mocked for being lesbian women. We eventually moved downstairs and had a great experience from there, but I do not want to interact with this bartender again.
Meeting House is one of my favorite bars in Andersonville! Very welcoming atmosphere with great staff. It’s a great place to meet up with friends and there’s always something going on. Board games, dart boards, ski ball, pool and shuffleboard. I also highly recommend checking out Thursday night karaoke and the Sunday Social.
This is one of my favorite gay bars in the city. The staff have always been super friendly and the drink options are some of my favorite. Did I mention the second story has darts, pool, and other games - because those are the best.
This is easily one of my favorite spaces in the Andersonille area. My friends and I often stop by Meetinghouse Tavern just to play darts and chill. But they also offer a variety of events that make it a fun place to be any night of the week. I especially love Sunday Social, their variety review. karaoke on Thursday nights is pretty fun as well. Meetinghouse Tavern is a great place to go with friends and also meet new people. The staff is always welcoming and friendly and so are the other patrons. I always bring out of town guests here to show them one of my favorite LGBTQIA+ bars on the northside. Cheers to the team at Meetinghouse Tavern and thanks for providing an awesome place to meet friends and drink.
Didnt realize it was a gay bar until I got there with my date but we still had a nice time. The place looks nice, the drinks were well mixed and it has a comfortable vibe. Not really my scene but an objectively good bar.
Great neighborhood bar. Multi floor with free pool, skee ball, shuffle board and darts. LGBTQ friendly.Warmer months are great when they can open all the windows up front. They require proof of vaccination to enter. You get a wristband so you wont need to pull your card out more than once.
This new gay bar in Andersonville is very nice looking. Upstairs has the skeet ball pool table darts etc. definitely more lively than downstairs. Bartender was nice and prompt to take my order. The only negative I have is the price of my mixed drink is too high.Bacardi and Diet Coke at $7.25 is too high for a bar in this area. Should be $5-6I’d come back once in awhile but not a regular place to drink like I do at other places
Im an introvert AND I dont drink, BUT Meeting House Tavern has karaoke, board games, drag queens and delicious CBD drinks! I dont frequent often, but when I do, its always a great time. Highly recommend, even for my fellow non-drinkers and introverts out there!
Ordered the $5 Sat New Amsterdam liquor special and was charged $8 per weak and overly sweet vodka cranberries (juice from gun). That was lame, but not worth refunding when I was given the itemized receipt after they ran my card. but, there is free popcorn, which brought this review from 2 to 3 stars.
Lots of cute gay boys hanging out and enjoying drinks! Im not a cute gay boy, so I didnt really love it, but if you are one, you will enjoy. The drinks were great, and they had a decent wine, which is unusual for a bar.
So far, so good. The atmosphere is friendly and the drinks/cocktails/beers are good! Really enjoyed playing shuffle board and skee ball and a few card games. Lets hope they can keep up the entertaining with specials during the winter and/or competitive game nights with ad hoc teams playing to win prizes...
Great bar with a vibe like no other bar in Chicago. It almost helps you meet new people and that’s a great thing in our community. The drink specials are great... you call it for $5 on Thursdays...and free games. Between SOFO and the Meeting House Tavern, Andersonville is becoming a great alternative to Boystown.
I was in the bar tonight with a friend. We both started separate tabs with the bartender and had several drinks. Each time we re-iterated our names. Towards the end of our night my friend decided she wanted to pick up my tab. The bartender was unaware of how to combine the tabs, but said he could figure it out. He finally did but then charged my card rather than my friend, who asked to cover the bill. When we brought it to his attention he blamed us for being unclear and said, “you told me fine yeah whatever.. I can try to figure out how to re-open the tab”. My friend and I have both worked in the industry for years and understand that mistakes are made, but we were clear with who we were and which tab was to be charged. He took no accountability and made us to blame for the problem. I ended up paying double the amount I was expecting to pay due to his incompetence. That aside, it was not our fault but we were made to feel that it was. Underwhelmed.
A great place for themed nights and a quick stop for a drink in the neighborhood. Bradley and Creagh’s karaoke on Thursday is a must-see!
First timers from the UK.A smart place with a fair (but not great) range of drinks...(frozen drinks werent margarita..a real disappointment)A single bar man struggled with customer numbers..he was working hardt. That needs to be sorted out.A good place for a drink none the less.
Great drink specials. I come with my girlfriend here all the time. Highly recommend. They have pool and darts upstairs too.
Great place nice place fun nice place to meet people of all other flavors all other styles and all other kinds is a great bar full Hall darts I loved it
Great bar staff and inclusive space. Karaoke is fun on Thursdays and Sunday Social is great when you’re looking for some drag to watch.
Great service, friendly staff, and great selection of beer and spirits. Amazing atmosphere and music selection. Highly recommend!!!
This bar is alright. They have a variety of beers on tap and lots of board games. Shuffleboard and some other games upstairs.
Love this place but it’s freezing in here!!! And at a certain time we should stop playing poolWhen it’s crazy crowded. Amen!
Very relaxed/friendly atmposphere which is conducive to meeting up with your friends to spill all the tea. My second home!
Sucks. Bartenders and barbacks are drunk and obnoxious. Spilling drinks everywhere and making the floor messy.
AWESOME BAR! PLEASE VISIT
Gay bar from head to toe. Best time i had in Chicago. I had an amazing time as a straight dude.
Great, relaxing bar.
Very fun LGBT bar with arcade games & drag shows.
Great friendly staff, engaging with newcomer & definitely worthwhile watering hole place. Thanks all
Was so fun! Definitely not the boystown vibe, which is a nice change!
Great beer selection and a beautiful space!
Love coming here with friends and very reasonable prices!
Go for the peach bourbon slushies.
This place is awesome!
The best, especially Danny
I love this place!
A big place. Cozy, good service and cool people. It has 2 levels and at the top it has several games: pool, darts, etc. Nice place
