This place could violate every OSHA and FDA regulation and be on the verge of condemnation and I would still rate it 5 stars. IU ride or day baby. IU for life. Hoosier nation. Also the drinks were pretty good. Snacks good, too.*** Note: Facility seemed to be compliant in every respectCream and crimson in my veins.
There is a restaurant in the front- I enjoyed my grilled cheese and tomato basil! The party area is in the back: video screens, large dance floor, bar, stage and DJ booth! Everything you need to have a blast, which we did! Only drawback is parking, if theres a large crowd expected...
I went to a ton of Illinois games here and really enjoyed the bar, atmosphere, and friendly staff. However, I won’t be returning for any games next year. The last game we went to we were charged a reservation fee, which isn’t a big deal in and of itself, I’ve done this at several other bars, but the reservation fee didn’t count towards our tab, so we paid over $200 just to have access to a table.
Great concert venue!I’m aware it’s a bar. But at the venue doors before entering the concert part there should be a little more security with checking people’s bags. There is no metal detector there. It would be great if one was placed there for the concerts. 👏🏻
As a person that goes to a lot of live shows, I was hesitant about going to this venue I have never heard of. Well… the place is awesome! The sound is great, lighting is great, spacious, you can see the show from anywhere you stand, I’d definitely go back. Also, shout out to you for bringing/hosting “Hello Seahorse”!
Staff 10/10 - They were super on point and beyond helpful in coordinating for an incredible event to support the Debbie Frank Legacy Fund.Cocktails and drink selection were wonderful!Id try and shoot for some gluten free menu options next time as those are always a hit regardless of the dietary restrictions.Venue is perfect for hosting a concert, fundraiser, you name it!Huge thanks to them for all that they did to support this awesome event.
Fantastic, fun, and huge! Pizza was good. Crispy thin crust for those who like it like that! Hard ciders are yummy.
I don’t go out much, especially to the city from the suburbs, but I enjoyed celebrating St. Patrick’s days here with my friends. Sean the bucket hatted server was very friendly and accommodating. He made sure I enjoyed my drink and even added some raspberry syrup to my request. I had the lemonade with Tito’s drink in their menu (I forgot what it’s called.) There were several seating options from high tops, to tables, to booths that seemed to accommodate 6-10 depending on how close you are with your companions. Personally, I was a fan of the music. That day my fiancé joked “Babe is your Aux plugged in???l lol I spend all night dancing in my seat to the comfort music of fun and party music from 2012-2017. Definitely my vibe. There was street parking, but personally I’m a parking garage kinda girl with my vehicle, fortunately there is a spot hero garage right around the corner! I wish them success! I wish I took pictures but I was having a blast :) Thank you team!
Where words leave off, music begins.Nothing I love more than going to Joes on Weed St. to escape reality for a little while. The best little venue with an amazing staff (shout-out Beto Neyes and Mark Vrska) from the moment you enter you are in amazing hands.Go to the bar and make sure BETO Neyes makes you one of his amazing drinks 🍸 Molly sent you.
Very great location and great service. I inquired this place with the referral from Pop up Karaoke for our company partys karaoke night and Mark answered all my inquiries and was very flexible when revising our needs for our party. Hes also hands on during our party as well. My coworkers also noted that the private place that we booked for the night was a great place for our party. Shoutout also to the bartenders for providing us great drinks and for providing me some stuff that I needed for our party. Thank you! We had an awesome night.
Hard to say how the food was since I was there for over an hour and no server approached my table. I got a drink at the bar but had to get the bartenders attention because I didnt even get a nod or eye contact. There were 3 employees there but I was told it would be a few minutes in a kind of annoyed way like I was being a bother wanting a drink. The speaker system was also awful. Treble was way too loud and many people were complaining and left early because of this despite having ear protection.
DAN THE MAN controls the environment and really makes me feel safe. I 10/10 recommend this venue especially feeling safe at all parts of it.
Jessica was amazing she is an angel!I needed a chair to be able to watch the concert last night because I cant stand all night long. She accommodate one for me and put me in a great location to watch the concert. To the owners of Joes on Weed st.Dont ever let her go!!!Thank you again Jessica, you made my night a memorable one!!!Love, Mary❤
Joe’s is one of the best, and certainly most under-rated venues in the city. From country music, to trivia nights, to football games, Joe’s back stage is always a quality place to be!Food is okay, drinks are good and relatively cheap (for Chicago). It’s their venue that gives it 5-stars. If you can, see your favorite band there and get there early to get by the stage!
This place is the biggest joke of a bar- bouncers extremely rude false advertising an event and unable to cater for everyone - crush in the line and dangerous establishment to be in wouldn’t recommmend to my worst enemy
This used to be the best place to see a country concert and even a NCAA game. It has gone way down hill in the last couple years as all the concerts and probably focus has gone to their Joe’s Live venue in Rosemont. The bar/restaurant is in need of a serious facelift. Holes in seats and worn tables are some of the many things that need fixed. The patronage is pretty odd, mostly a college crowd and a mix of let’s say interesting folks that trickle over from the OTB next door. The concert area was always great, but irritating with the number of drunk idiots and waitresses carrying cases of beer through the crowd constantly. I’m hoping at some point they split the concerts up between the two Joe’s venues.
Huge and fun place to enjoy time with people you are getting to know.
Sound is great in the night club in the back but it is very stuffy. Their ventilation system is not the best. Pretty small and doesnt fit a lot of people but security was super nice and they just checked our tickets and let us in. Water is free and served in plastic cups. There was a restroom attended and she was very nice. Good party venue.
Joe at the front door is the man! Very helpful, on top of crowd control and overall so kind! Thanks to Joe at Joe’s.
Lazy service!! Came to a show and wanted to buy a ticket. The guy at the front desk refused to take card because “I don’t wana. Cash only.” That tells me he might be pocketing some for himself. Bad look for the actual good musicians that play here.
Came for a birthday wristband deal, guys at the host stand was an A**H***, completely arrogant and dismissive. Seriously some of the worst treatment I’ve seen at a bar. It was pouring rain and they were still going to make our group stand on the rooftop patio for the 3 hour deal. Bartenders were great but that guy was just awful
It is a good place to beAnd enjoy comedy show.
Drinks and food were good but drinks are overpriced, in my opinion. They are served in small plastic cups. As a venue I would give 3 stars at most for anyone who was a disability. If you go there for a show theres nowhere to sit unless you leave the show and go to the restaurant side. There is nothing on the website about the venue side being standing room only for shows. I wish I would have known in advance.
Cool sports bar vibe in the front while you wait for the show. Good spot for a little venue in the back with two bars and a coat check service. Bathroom attendant in the bathroom with plenty of urinals so no lines for the gentleman.
You guys gotta catch a show here! Valet got us a spot up front. Security got us in right away. Bartenders were all great, making great drinks, joking and singing along! Especially Luis- we saw Spencer Crandall and what a night. Didnt get a chance to try the food, but we will definitely be back for a game or something and will give it a try next time! Thanks for a fun night, Joes!
Attended a fashion show at Joes this week. Im very impressed with the professional staff who served us hors doeuvres throughout the show. The food was excellent and bar services were above par! Great place to visit, well ran and organized!
Came here for Harry Styles, was supposed to start at 8, didn’t start till 10:15. Some bachelorette in paradise person was supposed to be… assuming they had to wait for him to show up - unsure, they didn’t make any announcements. No speciality cocktails which feels like a missed opportunity for the bar. The DJ was playing pretty trash music. Only saving Grace was the bartenders. Nice, personable. Bathrooms also gross and like 3 stalls were open, the rest out of operation.
Great concert venue, a good view of the stage from anywhere! Sound system was also great. Bartenders were friendly and made tasty adult beverages.
Absolutely love this place for concerts. They have a great mix of up and comers as well as bigger names. 3 bars located surrounding the GA area make it easy to grab a drink while enjoying the show.
Ive only been here to attend comedy shows. Got there early to grab a bite to eat and both times we got slow service. Took longer than expected to place order and request beverages. We had to get other servers to find ours. Food is ok fried bar food. Probably wont eat there again if we got back for a show. Parking can be hard to find. Venue is nice and big. Any seat is a good one. Servers in venue are on top if it, no complaints once in.
DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ARE A SINGLE FEMALE. They will put ROOFIES IN YOUR DRINKS. Bouncers will deny it and leave you to blame. Trust me there are way better options. Prysm is down the street, Lincoln park is not too far away, wrigleyville. Again single good looking females do NOT COME HERE. You will be taken advantage of.
Good food, good service, valet parking, and reasonable sound levels in the dining room. The bands were terrific and the sound system good. You can see some great bands here and enjoy a surprisingly good meal without breaking the bank.
Im pretty sure this place gave me hearing loss. And who ever made the playlist for the bar area needs to be restored to their factory settings.
Great place to watch a game. Dj did a great job of playing music during commercials and fading back to the game appropriately. Burger was good and cheese curds were great!
Attended a special event here which was fairly disorganized. The bar food was average as well as the drinks. Valet parking was $20 cash, up front, as soon as you exit your vehicle which was more than fair in the city.Summer employees are kids directly from Ireland which was fun especially when I asked to hear their impressions of American accents. All the employees were friendly however the decor was stale and dated. Probably a great weekend drinking place. You absolutely should go there to enjoy a drink or two and to speak to the young good looking kids from Ireland.
If your up in age thats the spot for you. All grown people having fun. Ill say most of the crowd will be 40 to 50+. DJ was on point with the music. All the stuff we grew up with, not that garbage thats out now. I was looking for a spot to kick it at, thats mostly people around my age, and Joes is a good one.
Got choked out by a bus boy.Told the manager, Joy, she was not helpful and clearly trying to cover up for the workers. We asked for the cameras to be pulled and she said there were none(?!). We called the police, they didn’t care at all (shocker). This bus boy is clearly dangerous.. the other bus boy who was pulling him off was crying, telling him to stop and not kill him. The management should not be covering this up, he could kill someone
The entertainment was amazing. The food was pretty good. I asked for a cup of ice twice and never received it. But I’ll chuck that up to a busy night.
Great venue. Small enough to feel intimate, but not cramped. Saw the Backcountry Boys and Hank Ruff. Great show. And great value to get in.
Smoked wings so salty he could not eat all them and thank goodness we didnt ask for crispy fries cause they would have been burnt. Not impressed at all
What can I say about the most incredible venue in Chicago? Joe’s on Weed Street has it all from the latest in country music to the greatest of all country music. I’ve been so fortunate to see some of the greats at Joe’s including Miranda! Not interested in a concert, no problem. The rooftop scene is heaven. Great bartenders, awesome food with killer bands to watch as the sun goes down. What more could you ask for to complete the perfect summer?
Ive come to this place a few times for wrestling events! Place is great! The bouncer was VERY friendly to me, just a super nice guy as well as the bar staff! Great place and even the other patrons were VERY friendly too! Looking forward to come back!
Excellent concert, pre-show meet and greet with Kameron Marlowe!! Staff were friendly, aware of surroundings & kept an eye on crowd.
Very spacious sports bar in front and then towards the back end you could never tell that it has a nice sized venue/stage.
Went there for the Randy Rogers band. Decent venue and security wasn’t too bad but sound acoustics aren’t that great and gets crowded and uncomfortable very easily. Also, I gave the bartender money for a drink and instead of bringing back my change, she just threw it in her tip jar and walked away. Not a good impression
This place is nice for good, cheap country concerts, but it get packed some nights. You cant very easily make it to and from the bar on those nights, which is actually fine because they make up for the cheap ticket prices with $900 drinks. I get it, its a bar in the city, but $5 for a regular 12oz can of beer is insane.
For trivia: I was blown away at how organized and smooth it went. Came for friends trivia there were about 85 teams. Had pre assigned tables, seating was easy and great service. The space us a little tight but needed to fit everyone, and our waitress checked on us often and drinks came quickly! Mostly bar foods, but then a shining star, SMOKED CHICKEN WINGS !! Super delicious!!!
This place is super cool. It is huge. There is a main bar a back bar with concert area and an upstairs bar. I was here on a Saturday night around Halloween everyone was dressed up in costumes and the 80s cover band 16 candles was awesome. Everyone seemed to be having a great time and we got a little too wasted. They pour them strong. Seems like a younger hipper crowd but there were a few odd couples. Bar tenders whip out the drinks pretty fast so eventhough it was crowded there wasnt a huge wait at the bar. Worth a trip if you are in the area.
The show we saw a few months back was packed, it was a well organized show and the music was good. However the reason for a 2 star review is in a place with a couple hundred people and 2 exits. I would have expected at least a little bit of security. This day in age where people do crazy things I try to put myself in the safest of situations, however here I did not feel safe.
This can be a fun place to catch a game on TV with friends. Its a fun atmosphere and the staff is generally good. I deduct points because the food is generally not very good. Its bland, cold, and generic bar food. They could do better but have little incentive to improve given their normal crowds.
Came here Thurs night for a rooftop comedy show and it was great. Our server was very attentive, and the tables were spaced out. We werent allowed to walk away from our tables without a mask on, and it was enforced so it was great.
Live music, sports on TV, lots of bars to limit any build up of lines. The venue is kind of strange with a low ceiling. It can be hard to see the musicians if youre short. The beer selection was small for todays micro brew world. It is a fun place. Food is available, but not really late.
This is a great spot to watch Steelers games. The food portions are huge and reasonable priced. Some of the beers are a bit pricey. My only gripe is we never got a refill on water in the 3 hours we were there for the game. Other than that, everything was good.
Joes is fine. Its a decent concert venue but only if youre into country music for the most part. As a bar its about on par with others. Nothing remarkable, but not much to complain about either unless youre super into a wide draft beer selection in which case Joes may not quite meet your standards.
When a valet was asked what permit the bar had to get to block street parking with cones and police barricades the valet told me to shut up despite me wanting to park on the street as I should be able to. Shady practices for a shady place.
WOW! True customer service!! Went to Joes on 03/26/14 for a concert. Everything was great (as usual). Food before hand was good, our server Colette was a sweet and nice as could be. She was extremely busy, but our service was still fantastic. And, as usual, another great show at Joes, this time David Nail. However, I had a horrible experience with the bathroom attendant. (Who would have ever thought). I wont go into the logistics as I already explained this to the manager, Bob, via an email earlier today. What struck me as true customer service is when Bob emailed me back within I believe 10 or 15 minutes and addressed the concern. That tells me this establishment really cares about what their patrons have to say and their experience.Thank you for everything, and I will see you guys soon!!
Came here for a show and damn did we regret it. This is not a music venue! TERRIBLE audio system and terrible booking of the opening acts. This place feels like a college bar, which under different circumstances would have been endearing, but they have no business trying to do shows here. Two stars because the bartender was surprisingly good, but I have absolutely nothing else positive to say about this place.
Was here for Corey Smith show a few years ago. Great venue! Friendly staff and fun atmosphere
I got free tickets from Veterans Foundation for being a US Soldier on Mothers Day we went to Tacos & Tequila! My family ladies only love the Margaritas all the Mamas were on the Dance floor!!Amazing YOLO
Great venue to check out some of the bigger names in country music for cheap prices. Everything is standing room only but there isnt a bad spot to stand in the bar and enjoy some of your favorite music. Friends go regularly for IU basketball games as well.
Mark was a very helpful security guard with cabs and ubers even though he had to get people of the street. This was my first time visiting Joes bar and it was a great deal for a Tuesday, $2.00 pitchers that you can not beat anywhere else. I would gladly visit again.
We came in on a Saturday night, and ordered 2 plates (5 or 6 pcs each I think) of their smoked wings as a snack. They are served naked, so they are a wee but smaller than you might expect, but let me tell you what: these wings were AWESOME! The 2 sauces we picked were tasty and still allowed the smoke flavor to come through. They were so good in fact, we immediately ordered another set of 2 plates to try other flavors. I am a big wings fan, AND a BBQ fan, so these are firing on all cylinders! Our server was great, and my beer was cold. Cant ask for anything more!
Awesome place to see a show. 2 big bars. The area in front of the stage has no seating and u just stand and watch, dance or whatever. Very personal feeling between you and the bands. Really liked it.
Overpriced on both drinks and food. Terrible service, it was ridiculous how long we waited for tacos. First time here, I wont go back any time soon. The only thing enjoyable was the DJ.
Went to comedy show for my best friend birthday. I had a great time. The wings and quesadillas were good. I wasnt too fond of the drinks but the comedy show and food were great.
We reserved a table for 8 on Harry potter trivia night and they messed up and thought we had 6. Our hostess was somewhat rude and sat us in the corner, despite other tables being available.Food was good at least. Really like their $3 mystery beer special.
Awesome trivia nights. Came with my friends to play trivia and actually won first place which they rewarded us with a complimentary party for 20 people for 2 hours. Drink specials are great as well.
I dont get all the hype about this place. This seems like any other average bar Ive been to (albeit much larger than the average). Reminds me of a college bar. It seems to cater to universities and private organizations because I see alumni and private events happening at this place all the time. There are plenty of TVs around to catch any game. They also have a pretty nice outdoor patio with an outdoor bar. Service is good and the upside to this place is they hold UFC-like fights in their back room (with the octagon and everything).
The Cooper Alan concert was the best!! Everyone was so nice and very helpful with my wheelchair. The wings were some of the best we have had!! Fantastic !!!
Tons of seating and, given the time period, excellent work trying to practice healthy distancing and mask enforcement. Food wise, absolutely love the pizza and the buffalo chicken egg rolls. Very good
Huge place! Looks like a good team of employees, but not managers. Ive never seen or heard of 1 waitress take care of 20 tables and well over 80 people. Not sure if I would go there again
Great venue! Theres about a million TVs to watch the game on, but whats cool is you can have your own personal tv at a table to watch whatever you want. Neat! If you go to the back, theres a big stage where they hold concerts. Ive seen a few bands there, and its always a fun time! Add to that a patio? Just a great spot to go to. My favorite spot to watch NFL games!
Love this place for small concerts. Ive only been in the back but the bar up front looks nice. The sounds is good, the bar service was above average, and the bathrooms were decent.
We checked out joes for boogie T 7/1/22 for our first time and LOVED this venue, they have a dine in/bar section when u first walk in where u can enjoy beverages or such while catching the show going on in the back room on their projector screens or tvs...Then, in the back room, is this stage performance, it does get steamy quick but were there for a good time not a long time so I would just say try to do better with a temp control but, had a good time for the most part so thank you for that!
The birthday package is fantastic and if you like the sports bar atmosphere this is the place to go too. Parking can be a bit scarce but youll find a spot eventually, make sure you read and look for street signs if not youll end up with a ticket.
I only come here for artists that I REALLY want to see. The venue becomes overcrowded and nearly unbearable. Sometimes they dont even set up a stage, so you cant even see the people performing over the heads of the audience. They also consider themselves a Chicago Sports Bar but do not advertise the Chicago White Sox.
Great venue. Drinks in the main bar took 20 minutes & it wasnt packed yet. But the atmosphere was good
Joes is a blast. Each bartender was fun and respectful. the environment mwas lively and the food is in par with what youd expect from. TGIFridays
Attentive bar tenders, and nice loud sound for shows. Lighting is pretty darn good too. Security is very chill 😎
Nice small-room venue. A little too much echo and volume on the mics. And when Delta Rae tried to do an a capella version of No Peace In Quiet, the noise from the adjoining bar room was completely disruptive. Need better sound separation from the stage room and the rest of the joint.
This location was so unexpected. I remember late 90s and the early turn of the millennium, this area was hopping with night clubs, and between the City and the Chicago nightlife crowd, it changed... But this place is still standing, complete with a rooftop! Good place to have a party in the summertime :)
Big venue, suler loud and packed. Offers shows and event seating in back room. My slight issue every bar has a different price for liquor. Whiskey was $5 on the roof and $12 in the event room. Dont buy liquor or food back there. And get there super early. Terrible parking.
This place is awesome. Trivia night here is a blast! The food is very good. Lots of great drink options. Servers and bartenders were all very friendly. Bathrooms are clean, but super dark.
The good...close to my work, $2 pitchers and half price pizzas, plenty of TVs, HUGE beer garden and the food is pretty decent. The bad...$2 pitchers are flat, the staff isnt the most attentive or friendly, their specials arent consistent, they do racially profile and Ive paid a cover charge only to find no tables or seats on a game day because they were all reserved!! Then on my birthday when I called to reserve tables no one answered after about 10 tries I gave up. Its not my favorite spot but will keep going back due to the proximity to work.
We only popped in for lunch while shopping, so we didnt get the full experience. My fiance got a grilled chicken salad, I got a chicken quesidilla and a bowl of chicken noodle soup. With this said I expected just standard bar food. But what we got was a,Wow, ok!, moment . Apparently theyre not just scooping processed chicken from the can (or a large plastic bag) , like most bars and grills are doing. Nope these guys are in the back cutting chopping rotisserie style chicken making each bite tasty, juicy and delicious. Which then made the meal far from the normal blah. Finally, our server was awesome, totally on it, water full as it emptied, attentive for everything we needed as well as check up ad she walked by. Best part as well was her look. She looked like she just got off the plane from Nashville. Daisy Duke southern Belle style, if you will but without being trashy. Overall great experience, we will be back to see for sports events or a show.
Hadnt been here in a while, but it was still pretty great. Good drink specials for college football Saturday. Would go again to have a great time.
Awesome place and venue for good music. Really enjoyed the Araron Watson concert. The wife and I had a ball. Definitely will make it to the trivia nights as well.
Awesome food, well mixed drinks, great venue, but minimal seating and tables in the venue. The wife and I still had an awesome time and we will be back.
Good place to grab a beer after a comedy show. Sometimes is low key, sometimes its hoppin.... I cant get the schedule straight. I go there when I want to turn up and its a chill night in the bar and they dont even have the dance floor open. I go there when I just want a beer and chat with a friend and the bar is going crazy as if its 1999 and the world is going to end but all I want to do is hear the guy next to me talk.
Great place for food, sports watching and a beverage with friends. They always have something going on! If you like country music, you must visit here! Well known in the country music scene in Chicago!
Had a real good time at a concert there. Bar service was quick and sound was excellent. Im not much on country typically, but I will return to see a band I like.
Plenty of space for early college football games. The brunch tacos were also delicious and the rest of the menu looked pretty good. Definitely a great spot for Saturday morning football, food and drinks.
Its hit or miss. The place def draws the bros & hoes crowd. At least on the nights Ive been there. Parking can be brutal in that neighborhood. The staff/valet are friendly. The food is delicious.Id def recommend the band Rod Tuffcurls & the Bench Press. They have great stage presence, and you can tell theyve been doing music and comedy together for awhile. Their song selection is great! (Be a Man-Mulan)Fyi: If you go to see a cover band like that, Joes will be packed to the gills. You will prob have beer spilled on you, and you will stick to the floor. My friend was dancing, and some drunk dude licked her face.I saw Salt n Peppa there a few yrs ago, and that show was killer. Shoop! Its 50/50 for me if this place will give me anxiety. I usually am fine in other crowds. Perhaps its because this crowd often seems rude/pushy.If I go pee there, I feel obligated to tip the friendly bathroom lady whos handing me a paper towel. Shes a lovely lady, but Im at a bar.. Im not looking for a VIP experience in the crapper. Im sure for the right crowd, this place is a dream. Its just not my flava.
I had a great time at the concert I attended here. However, I read online that there was dollar beers and discounted pizzas but when I asked our server they said those do not stand on nights there are concerts. That made me a little upset. Also, they say theyre a Blackhawks bar, but they did not have the sound for the hawks game on when I was there. Also frustrating.
Joes ... the owner, crew, production team and food are all amazing. What a great place to see local bands and national acts
This is the 2nd time weve used this venue for a fundraiser. There are plenty of bars to take care of the guests, they are accommodating to our needs and somehow the parking was very easy downtown Chicago.
Went for Game of Thrones Trivia night, one of the most anticipated trivia nights at Joes for the entire summer and you could tell; over 50 teams of 6 joined in on the fun. After starting over an hour late the moderator of the night read clues out loud due to technical difficulties. The moderator admitted to the crowd she had never watched the show and was only a last minute replacement. It would take over 20min in between rounds to calculate scores, answers to the questions were wrong and had to be corrected by the audience. Poorly run, barley planned, and horribly executed I would not recommend trivia night at Joes to anyone. Food and atmosphere was also mediocre. 0/5 stars.
Every time I come here for a show, something goes terribly wrong. Came for Bryson Tiller last year. Waited until 1AM just for him to walk across the stage and not perform. Went 2 weeks ago for Dave East. Stood for 6 hours and had to go home because it was 2AM and a wednesday. Found out he came on stage near 2:30AM. The only smooth performance that happens here is Carnival Dance Show. Also, drinks are super expensive.
Great club area in the back, bar area in the front. Would recommend checking it out! Bartenders are polite and overall atmosphere is solid.
Went to watch the Derby, got a table outside and doubled up on Juleps as the waiter was swamped. Also ordered a margherita pizza and placed a couple of bets. Horse lost but everything else was great.
Joe’s on weed is great, but it’s saving grace is their employee Malcolm. He angel and then some.. literally the only reason I come here. Don’t even care about the music. ILYSM Malcolm
Brazenly engaged in an ATM scam. venues continue to insist on turning away customers without cash??
Great energy! Lots of fun, especially during the trivia nights! They bring great bands; ideal venue for such mini-concerts.
Best venue in the city to host any event. Professional staff & top notch service.
[Day / time / location / cover / setting]: I came to Joes bar last night (on a Thursday) at about 10:40 PM for REGGAETON/HIPHOP toward the back end of the bar. After getting my i.d. checked at the front door (and after making my way over the back), I paid a $10 cover (cause Im a guy). The back part of Joes is a large and spacious room that was lit correctly to set the tone for a great time; There were, however (and unfortunately), only eight persons there including myself [and not including the staff] at the time. The DJ was certainly spinning hip hop and reggaeton hits.[Service]: There are two bars at Joes back room – one to the left & one directly ahead as you walk in. I went to the bar on the left, ordered a Stella, didnt like the beer, asked the young lady/bartender what she drank and she said Coors light, requested one of those but (obviously) ended up regretting it, didnt want anymore (but was still willing to arguably throw a bone by leaving a $3 tip), closed my tab, and left a little after ~11:23 PM.[Additional comments and closing remarks] - My experience at Joes was NOT bad. I really liked how spacious the place was where the event was being held, and the atmosphere was cool, too. The DJ was not engaging with the crowd to get the party started (regardless of how many people were there) as I would have liked. As far as bar service is concerned, I - myself - do not have much experience tasting beers to determine what makes a beer great, and it certainly did not help I was asking person that knew less than I did (seeing as how their go-to beer was Coors light), so I was pretty much S-O-o-L as far as service went for this particular bar (toward the back part of Joes) on this night - in particular. My experience was unique much like everyone elses, but if you and a group of friends happen to be free on a Thursday night [the back part of Joes is open until 4AM] and a have a few extra dollars to spend on either cover or drinks, are in the mood to listen to reggaeton or hip hip, and are well versed in beers (or, at least, have a popular go-to beer...unlike myself), then the back side of Joes is a good spot for you. 3/5
Very nice place for live music. I go when Mikey O is hosting, its always a great time. The food and drinks are a bit pricey but good.
Giving it 5 stars because before I went to Houston this was my go to spot for cool ladies to meet. Tuesday Night at Joes was the Saturday of the week, it was that good. Came this Tuesday 6/9 aftwe being gone for 2 years and it was not like I remember but the memories. Bar was full DJ was good but the dancing part was closed off.
Great service and good food. If youre a Hoosiers fan this is a must visit spot. You should probably visit here too if youre a fan of another college. IU fans are great people so go party with them.
5-stars because Joes is there to serve a purpose, which is to house live music and serve alcohol. It’s also great for sports or horse racing. But that is where you need to understand that’s about it.Service has always been great, they know how to serve that booze.
This place gets super busy on big betting days (like the Kentucky Derby) but is an nice huge venue and a must for Off-track better in Chicago! Very accessible from Red Line, too.
Had some business on Weed Street, so I stopped into Joes for lunch. The turkey club and fries were tasty and quickly delivered to my place at the bar. Joes is a place where you can do some off-track betting, so all of the TVs were tuned to horse racing. Enjoyed my lunch! My husband and I plan to go back for dinner and some country music.
It was a very comforting atmosphere, the workers were nice, well organized for the concert . Not a bad seat in the place. I would definitely go back!
Fun place for small concert venue, good food, pricey drinks though and the womens bathrooms could be cleaner and updated.
Went to a Bday celebration. Caught the Ron Burgundy group. The tab didnt hurt either. As always good experience at Joes.
Friends and I go to trivia night at Joe’s and it’s always a blast. The events are well organized and there are always drink specials going on. While it’s not an entirely unique experience , Joe’s is a solid choice. Also, get the hotdog with tots!
Failure of a venue. My boyfriend purchased a pair Bryson Tiller Official Lollapalooza After Party tickets for us to see him perform or something. We get there and its PACKED, tickets ended up being sold out so we were excited. After one hour people grew restless but we waited, and waited, and waited. 3-4 hours of waiting ended up in most of the people leaving, literally screaming for a refund, and NO BRYSON TILLER. We arrived before the listed start time of 10pm. We left at 3am and he never came, 5+ total hours of waiting. The venue is unwilling to issue a refund due to no promise that he would arrive or perform. This place is a hot mess, stingy, SCAM. On top of their bait and switch, this is the only company Ive ever seen with those cheap plastic, tiny, shot glasses. You know your failing when you cant afford glassware and you cant get people in without false advertisement. WACK.
Ive mostly been here for events in the large back room. For this, its great! The staff are friendly and the food is surprisingly high quality for mass catered party food.
Probably the best Steelers bar I have ever been too. Would have liked to see it when it was not a nationally televised game. Great band! Great food!
Great venue to see a big artist any time of year. They bring in great bands and the ticket prices are reasonable.
Saturday, June 4th 2022, was absolutely the best time this year. Thank you Mikey O, Betty D of Sweet Sensation, Coro, and Judy Torres! You all were Da Bomb dot com!!! Thank you! 💯😘💯
I hate the way they seat guest. Food is okay and served fast. (I didnt pay, so I cant state my feedback on price value). My suggestion would be have something to help flag the waitress.
Comedy shows are always a great time with house or Spanish music sure to follow each show. A great, fun and friendly crowd everytime and the bartenders work quickly.
Great venue for watching a sporting event, a casual meal, or a live music event. The staff provides friendly service and the food is classic and well prepared.
They were extremely rude when I simply asked if they had found a credit card. Only a few bartenders were willing to even talk to me about it. The rest of the staff was very rude and pushed me away. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Ive been attending Joes Bar on Weed Street a few times now. However the staff for concerts have been far too lenient and too laid back as the years have past. I used to enjoy shows here because it was a friendly environment and an intimate venue. Last night at a Walker Hayes SOLD OUT, you could imagine the crowd being so packed, (expected) but having requested a seat for my mother who is newly recovering from a back injury was uncomfortable and dissatisfied. Not only that, the staff placed people that requested for chairs in the most cramped and inconvenient spot ever. Among the people we sat with was a pregnant woman and her husband, a woman with MS with her date--all of whom left early with us because the crowd got so rowdy because theyre were so intoxicated and rude. You would think the staff would be more mindful and considerate for paying attendees that requested in advance for a seating arrangement because of their valid excuse....Yeah this time the staff just plopped them in the back in a such cramped area near the bar (terrible spot because people kept bumping into us, spilling drinks, and some were just plain rude). Also, the bartenders there kept serving drinks to people that were clearly beyond drunk. I wish I could say I enjoyed another concert at Joes on Weed but this time Im beyond disappointed and felt Ive wasted my money and time. I was excited for Walker Hayes and he put on an amazing performance but with that kind of experience I could NOT enjoy myself or the music/concert vibe. This was my Moms first country concert and it was a terrible experience. Its sad that a great show was taken away from us because of the lack of consideration the concert manager and Joes staff had. I would have to think 3-4 times before deciding to attend another show here. 👎👎👎👎👎👎
Paid $220 for two tickets and valet parking and wasnt allowed into the event. Bouncer was unnecessarily rude and refused to let me in after I showed four examples of identification including drivers license, school ID (name and picture included) debt card, and name on my ticket. Not to mention I bought my ticket a month ahead and had to call and email to get my tickets. Ill never go back. Rude employees and a complete waste of time and money.
My favorite place to watch IU sports! Great atmosphere and good food, I only wish the drink specials were a bit better, as Im not always in the mood for Coors Light pitchers.
Sunday football experience:Waited for service 15-20 min.Asked hostess for server.Put in order, waited ~20 min.Let hostess know we were leaving. While at competitor less than a mile away, realized waitress had my credit card at Joes.Paid (was told price cut in half) due to chips/guac and a drink already prepared earlier.Returned to competitor and had a much better experience.Gave a star for the atmosphere, otherwise, very unfortunate time for me to be there due to poor staffing/efficiency.Conclusion: Will be elsewhere on Sundays.
The lunch crowd is very laid back. Seat yourself and order quick. A little worn down seating and tables, but it gives character more than anything.
Terrible. We went for a mimosa fest this past Sunday 4/24. It was super unorganized, the 1 good thing I can say is the food was decent.
Horrible! The service was ridiculously bad! We were there for over 20 mins before anyone even acknowledged us. No waiter, no water, no menu, nothing. The place is a complete joke. We tried multiple times to get service. My girlfriend even walked to where the waitresses were waiting for food to let them know we had not been served. 10 mins later a waitress shows.... The experience was awful and I will not be returning and also telling everyone not to attend that joke of a place. Visitors beware!
Great place for a concert if you dont mind standing. The drinks are food are reasonably priced. Had a great time!!
Went to joes bar for the first time in the spring of 2009 while visiting chicago for the second time. i had their steak rib-eye with a chardonnay wine. the service was top-notch. our server was outstanding and he showed he truly cared about his customers.
My favorite bar! Hands down best place to catch an americana or red dirt show in Chicago. Best place to watch IU games too
Attended A Mikey O event and it was amazing.. Waitress was very professional and quick.. A little pricey but great ambiance and well worth it..
Love the venue. Mostly good music... however twice the equalizer was off...
Havent eaten the food yet but the music venue is an awesome place to see a show!!
We were on the roof top. Great experience. Fun comedy. Pizza was good. Staff and space handled all the Covid stuff well.
Rented the roof top for a work event - so accommodating, helpful, beautiful weather, nice space, attentive staff. All good things! Highly recommend.
They have really good music, and a huge place to dance. Their beer is really cheap! The place is really great for meeting new people or watch a game!
Great venue to see a concert, get a little OTB betting on the side, then watch sports. Joes really has it all.
Seems like a cool venue, the staff was friendly, but no Jim Beam? Come on! At least they had Old Forester.
I never know if theyre open or not. Great bar otherwise.
Basically a huge barn with a bunch of TVs. Lots of sports shown, but mediocre video and sound. Expensive cheap beer. No good beer. Decent bar food.
Awesome live music
Went there for a comedy show and afterwards they had a live salsa band. This definitely was a great time.
Very great venue big and open lots of bar service. Service was quick and great music went for the Drake White concert tonight awesome time
If you like country music then this is the place to be. I was here for a send-off party however I was not impressed. Ive been to better bars.
Had a great time, great venue, happy to be there and ready to go back! JASON LEECH FOR THE WIN
Cool place to watch the game. Came for the Gators game. Lots of TVs and good bar food.
To many bums hanging around the place broke beggers no sitting room for paying customers cause of the bums and broke people hanging around all day long wont go home after they loose there money other then that the food is good every body is trying to steal from the place even the tellers and the security to tellers not punching up tickets fast enough got people stack in there like cow kettles sock people coming in there coughing all around the place mudbug use to to have private spots no crowedd
My first time there was there earlier to see Devin Dawson. Had a bite to eat before, service was good. The venue was great.
Ive only been here for events, but overall the drinks are good and priced fairly. Food is pretty tasty, but nothing amazing so far. Ask about daily specials.
Terrible service the for All Star Weekend. They advertised celebrities that didn’t show, Held the line and wouldn’t let people in after buying tickets in freezing weather. Owner said they are low on security it’s really a SCAM
Awesome place - definitely want to visit for a concert. I visited during a slow time and was given awesome service. Will definitely be back.
Great get-together venue! Awesome outdoor space, great for sports viewing. Brings in live music and conveniently located.
Had a fun night out for a bachelorette party at Joes. We happened to be there on the night a boy band was playing and it made for some great dancing and singing along!
Hosted my cousins bachelor party here at Joes! Everything went perfect! Staff was very helpful!! The concert was amazing!!
Great venue for non mainstream county bands, foods pretty good, but does get very packed at times.
I went to Joes for an event called Red Cup karaoke..the venue was a nice size..the restrooms were well kept and the bartenders were great as well.
Always a blast! We’ve done multiple large events here which have always been a success.
Only the best sports bar would pull up a chair for your bucket of beer: Joe’s is the BEST!
Fun place to go see a band. The food was good. They have a good beer selection. And, the prices are very reasonable.
Joes was good they performed great and bartenders we quick to serve. I would definitely attend another concert there.
Rooftop is nice and quesadilla was good, but just fyi rooftop has very limited beer options. To get anything from the draft you have to go downstairs.
This place is throw back for me I remember them quarter beers and 2 dollar pitchers on college night Tuesdays. do you guys still have this ? good place for sure.
A good place for young, and old.Their are three venues,Live music in back area,Sports bar in the left front corador, and horse racing simalcast in the front right corador.
This place is off the chain! With large rooms, upstairs patio, and a huge dance floor, theres a place for everyone. Excellent beer selection as well!
